Meet the Hosts

00:01:14
Speaker
Hello and welcome to Ever Under News, an actual play podcast set in the Eberron campaign setting. I'm your game master, Eric. I'm Phillip. I'm Trevor. I'm Randy. I'm Jeff. And welcome to another episode. Gentlemen, what happened last time?

Recap of Previous Episode

00:01:31
Speaker
Well, we don't know what happened to radar last time. Yeah, we will hopefully find that out soon, but we did crime. Yeah, he stole a bunch of Kyber shards for someone else. And that's true.
00:01:44
Speaker
on behalf of, not on behalf of Raynard, in order to free Raynard from his kidnapping. Trevor is yet to say thank you. Right? Jerk. It definitely was not Boromar business, but we did have Boromar blessings. Yes.
00:02:04
Speaker
And you pocketed a couple of Kyrie shards for yourself, correct? I'm not making that up. No, I'm sure you're gonna say yes to that regardless of whether or not you did. No, we said that we did. Hob definitely did. Yeah. I have no idea how many that's yet to be determined, but...

Raynard's Kidnapping Misunderstanding

00:02:21
Speaker
Yeah. Of what quality? Well, here. This is what we can do. I'm gonna roll...
00:02:31
Speaker
2d4 and divide by 2 With a minimum of yeah Five will round up because i'm feeling nice this morning three you got three like Uh just standard kyber shards no superior no crazy ones, but just did you just round five up to three?
00:02:56
Speaker
I said divide by two and then I rounded it up. Okay, I did not realize that you did not do the first bit about your head. That's what I thought he did at first too. I was like, wait, and I was like, oh, okay. Five, round up to three. Okay, moving on. Okay, so yes, we are going to pick up briefly. Trevor, we kind of joked about the various states that Raynard may have been in.
00:03:25
Speaker
in his captor from actual prisoner to just Reynard got invited to dinner and didn't even realize that he was in duress. So would you like to dictate how Reynard's day was, the day that they had to go do all that stuff? Oh no, I like that. But he just didn't even realize. Yes. That sounds funny.
00:03:49
Speaker
and on brand. Yes. So, yeah, we'll say that Kipling, because we've established that Kipling works for Solomon Callaway, invited you out to lunch. And at some point, somebody pilfered your dagger to use as leverage against the gang. So isn't it the second time my daggers been pilfered? Well, yes, you need to take better care of your dagger. You get a wallet change for that thing.
00:04:18
Speaker
I think the first time it was done, please. Yeah. Cause it is like a kazoora gamma. Okay. So, um, so yeah, I guess after the job, Reynard, you can relate to the rest of the party, how your day was, um, as you just stroll back into the four sales.

Raynard's Return and Dagger Exchange

00:04:48
Speaker
So, for my knowledge. You have no idea that anything exciting has happened today. You went and had lunch. Cool. With Kipling. Wait, is it the same day?
00:05:00
Speaker
We're just going to establish Reynard rejoining the group and then we'll pick up the adventure and we'll do interlude stuff also. So I think Reynard just walks in and has a seat, very nonchalant, like nothing's happened. And you all have returned from the job. Hello.
00:05:27
Speaker
Okay, I have to remember that. You don't look any worse for wear. Thank you. Who has his dagger? Do we have his dagger? His dagger, like, Saltman just showed it to you and didn't give it to you.
00:05:50
Speaker
What, did he expect us to go get his dagger? Rainard has his dagger. Oh, okay. That's what I asked. Okay, that's it. Where have you been? Oh, uh... You're right. Yes. I'm a little full. I was at lunch with Kipling. You know, Kipling.
00:06:19
Speaker
for a day and a half.
00:06:23
Speaker
Well, lunch turned into dinner, dinner turned to, you know, ended up just kind of crashing on the couch, really, so. Not much of a couch, actually, I don't really know what it was, but. Kipley explained, it's this cool new can of convention, it's a couch and a bed, you can fold it down. So, named after Alderis, Alderis Wooton. It's called a footer on. It's such an odd man, really, just locked everything.
00:06:51
Speaker
from the inside. I don't know. I didn't think much of it. How are you?
00:07:18
Speaker
Unfortunately, I don't know I don't know Because she has to be angry at someone about what happened
00:07:36
Speaker
Is your dagger visible, do you keep it in your belt? Like where one could see it readily? Yeah, yeah, kind of stick it, like a pirate would kind of have it sticking out of it like a little. That's why it's so easy to feel for. Yeah, that's why people keep stealing it. Yeah, I wear it loosely on top of my hat. You want to see it? Any time somebody asks, I just show it to them. You can have it, you can hold it. I'm taking it out for a spin.
00:08:07
Speaker
The heft on that bad boy. All right. I think Hobb explains, just, it's simple, he's like. Raynor, during your absence, we were led to believe that you were in peril and were coerced into doing a job we didn't want to do. If you could do us all a favor,
00:08:31
Speaker
and Hob grabs the knife out of your belt if you would, I mean, if you would try to stop him, that is one thing, but he obviously doesn't. I don't try to stop people, so. Yeah. Tried to keep a tighter grip on this, would you? And kind of shoves it. I said shoves it into your chest, but not like that. The flat handle portion. Yeah. All right, well,
00:09:02
Speaker
I don't know why anyone didn't tell me. Why we didn't tell you? It would have ruined the whole kidnapped illusion, I think. I was kidnapped? Oh my God. Yes, you were kidnapped. Oh, well, that definitely changes my day and a half. At the very least. You obviously didn't feel like you were kidnapping.
00:09:33
Speaker
Honestly, Kipling can be very boring in conversation. I mean, they're... It's

Eris and Olive's Workshop Plans

00:09:38
Speaker
more like you were just detained. Like, it didn't seem like you were... You willfully went and then were detained, which... Well, Kipling is a wonderful rose to anyone. Aeris just leaves. Aeris just leaves. We're in for sales, right? How goes to get food?
00:10:02
Speaker
Well, thank you. You know what? Harris stops to the door and goes, now? And then walks out and slams the door behind her. Yeah, I think Hobb has a parallel but different reaction of, that almost feels like growth. Rainard said, thank you. Without prompt, I think you meant it.
00:10:33
Speaker
There was a question, Mark. Yeah. Because everyone seems angry, so it's like, what? Yeah. Thank you for helping me. You seem really upset about it. Yeah, Trevor. Trevor should not feel bad that he got kidnapped. Like, that's not okay. Right? Right? But here we are. Hello, dude.
00:11:02
Speaker
This group's love language is righteous anger. He just shouldn't have had so much fun. Yeah, that's the problem. It's not his fault. It's that it was pleasant. I know. It's kind of like Home Alone. It's like one of those Home Alone situations. He had a Frito Chili pie and a nap, and we were out there fighting a minotaur.
00:11:24
Speaker
Okay, so in the wake of the job, what do you all get up to? What are you all doing when you don't have something actively being given to you?
00:11:42
Speaker
Eris is probably down in high walls trying to work on refurbishing the, what will one day be a garage, I guess? Or a workshop? All purpose lair?
00:12:00
Speaker
If you want to give me a general either mechanics or artifice check, as you kind of work on setting this all up, we can see how the progress is going. Delighted to give you a mechanics check. Sorry. You need a difficulty. I do. Yeah. I mean, I'll take it simple. Yeah. Let's go ahead and do an average difficulty to purple.
00:12:31
Speaker
All right. Oh, weird. I was trying to interpret what these weird symbols are in the dice log on RPG symbols. And it's because we've never rolled polyhedrals on this system. Triangles with these numbers on them. Um, okay. Uh, olives helping. Can I get a boost? Sure.
00:12:59
Speaker
Six successes. Just so much success. Yeah, progress is going really well. You and Olive are, you know, it's more an issue of resources than skill on your part of like getting all of the materials and everything that you need to refurbish this space.
00:13:19
Speaker
Which Olive is obviously backing that financially for now and making trips to. Does Sharon have a have like a scrap pile? Is there like a like a dump in Sharon? I'm sure like probably. The the level right before the cogs, because the cogs is like properly underground. Grum would probably know.
00:13:43
Speaker
where the salvage yard would be, right? Yeah, yeah. So, well, and more specifically, there's a huge pile that is from the tower that fell during the last war. Oh. And so that is- I understand how I feel about that. That has largely become an easy spot for free material. There is a scrap yard where you can go get
00:14:12
Speaker
wood and stone by the pound, you know, pay your proper fee and things like that. So that you do have those two different options. The fallen tower area is kind of rough and tumble, but much cheaper than a more established place. So... Gosh, Aeris wouldn't care, but Philip feels real gross about that. Okay.
00:14:44
Speaker
Eris is actually not bad off in terms of money right now. Eris has got 91 gold because she has spent almost nothing because I keep either being able to make more dragon shards by rolling successes or stealing them or asking people nicely for them and they give them to me. And then I forget to use them for the thing I was going to use them. And so I just walk out of their workshop with them. That also happens.
00:15:14
Speaker
So Eris can put some cash into this if that helps anything. I don't know what, I don't know if there's any mechanics to this. No, it would be more of a question of you kind of deciding what you wanted to purchase for it. Because right now, like that role was for the Renault Porsche, like filling in the walls and stuff and setting up shelves. So is it finally a secure location of some kind?
00:15:40
Speaker
I will say with those six successes, yes. You have four walls and a door that locks. Awesome. The dream. That's so much nicer than one of us has had in her life. Cool. Well, four walls and a door that locks. Is it a big garage-y door? Yeah. Yeah. You have a loading bay. Perfect.
00:16:07
Speaker
Okay. Well, Eris will start, start collecting the needful furniture, which is of course the workshop furniture, not like places to sleep. That's very secondary right now. Okay. This has a hammock. Um, so as like Eris finalizes the mechanical locking mechanism on the bay door, um, all of kind of regards, everything's like, well,
00:16:32
Speaker
I think this is finally, uh, we, we've built the canvas. So I guess what, what now, what should be the first? Yes. Work, work tables and stuff, right? Yeah. Yeah. Tools. And.
00:16:56
Speaker
an idea of what we're doing with the place exactly that's kind of what yeah we we're going to need certain tools for certain types of
00:17:03
Speaker
of work. So I know that and she she has like basically just taken like climbing spikes and put them in the wall and has her like arms hanging on the wall. For those of you that maybe have are picking up that not her literal arms go back a while and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Raynard's Dagger Dilemma

00:17:26
Speaker
So obviously I would like to continue tweaking on that. So I guess what type of things do we wanna work on more personal scale or would you be more interested in kind of a place to work on Tasha and things like that to start out? Well,
00:17:57
Speaker
I mean, torture fits in here now, and that's good. Because, well, I can sleep there, you know, and then we don't have to worry about that. You don't have, you can, you don't have to anymore, though. You understand, like, we could, we could go get. I just want, I just want to take up, you know, space in, in your, in your thing here. This is our thing. This is yours too. You can dictate.
00:18:26
Speaker
your space in here. We could even build additional walls to have rooms like personal spaces. You know, often always did not like it very much when I left all my personal stuff lying around the bar and he liked it better when it was in a different space. Because customers didn't. It was weird to customers, he said. Yeah.
00:18:55
Speaker
So that makes a certain amount of... That makes some sense, yeah. Okay. So...
00:19:03
Speaker
probably what we can do and she starts like going over a rough blueprint layout of where personal spaces could be built and things like that that we can elucidate further later on. Once Philip the player. It needs to be like a loft. Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking. Once Philip the player has had time to think about what that looks like in his head. So. Cool. Okay, what?
00:19:29
Speaker
About the other three of you who wants to go next in terms of what you're what you're up to what you're working on Well, I will say Raynard does in fact go buy a little chain Okay, not necessarily wallet chain yeah
00:19:46
Speaker
No, a dagger chain, clearly. Obviously. Right there. That's something to keep the dagger a little more secure. Just pull me twice, shame on me. Just put your cuff link. Pull me twice, get a chain for your dagger. I love the idea of going up to the merchant and it's like, do you have a chain that can attach like from my dagger to my person? You mean like a wallet chain? No, no, no, no, no.
00:20:11
Speaker
No, not a wallet thing. Did you hear me say wallet? Okay, um so and that takes all of the time. It's very tricky Well, okay riddle me this How much pressure is hob under from old boomerush and the gang?
00:20:38
Speaker
You know, they're happy with your progress. You're not out from under it, obviously, but, you know, they they aren't checking in every three days to like see that they aren't asking for constant status updates. It's kind of you've proven yourself to be capable at it. So they're going to that you've gotten some autonomy in your operation. So if you would like to do something else, because I know that's been kind of your default of
00:21:00
Speaker
Anytime Hob has downtime, that's what he's doing. If you would like to have Hob do something else that is totally on the table. Just to make it kind of... Like, Hob is not interested in making this an avocation. Like, he doesn't want to continue. As soon as it's done, it's done. I don't know. I think Hob does take that the week off from that. He probably just does some shifts at Savia's and... I don't know.
00:21:30
Speaker
go and do much. I can't think of anything outside of the boom rush thing and I don't want to deal with boom rush this week. He doesn't want to deal with going to the cogs this week. How would Hob like to lift heavy things and be tall?
00:21:49
Speaker
Well, yeah. In a renovation situation. I don't think that, yeah, I'm, you know, knocking anybody out of their seats to say, if Eris asks Hob for help, he goes and helps her. Yes. Okay. Milo, what are you up to? Milo has decided to. To look on him in his face, guys. Whenever he leaves the house,
00:22:19
Speaker
First thing he does is scour the area to see if there's anybody, Jason, looking especially for Jason. If anybody is like, you know, on his tail. Give me an easy perception check. One of my dogs is dreaming, so if you hear yips, that's... Do you hear that? Yeah, it's like, what is that?
00:22:44
Speaker
I just called her off of her because she was down here shimmying. Easy's one purple, correct? Yes, one purple. Zero success, two advantage. Great. So you don't spot anybody. You kind of look around, nobody's jumping out at you. What do you want the two advantage to be used for? Well,
00:23:10
Speaker
Milo, by the way, it's the start of a new session. So you can reset your strain. Same for you, Raynard. You have two string currently and hob all of you. Yeah. Everybody except for. Weird.
00:23:25
Speaker
So Milo has also decided,

Milo's Discovery of Jason's Secret

00:23:30
Speaker
you know, as far as being wary about who may be following him, he's going to try to turn the tables and attempt to follow Jason and spy on Jason. OK. So you know that Jason works closely with Vigo, so probably heading up to Boromar HQ would be the first step in that process.
00:23:52
Speaker
Um, so, um, yeah, let's, uh, you go up there and after a little while, just hanging out nearby, you see Jason walk through the front door and, um, start heading, heading towards a sky walkway to another, another platform.
00:24:14
Speaker
I'm going to trail him very sneakily. Okay. Give me a very stealthy check against Jason's perception, which is one red, one purple. Would you like to flip a story point to upgrade your check? Uh, yeah, I'd like to use my advantage, um, to, uh, give yourself a couple of boost. Yeah. Okay.
00:24:43
Speaker
And then flip a story point for another. To turn one green into a yellow. Yeah. Yep. And you said it was a red and a purple. Yep.
00:25:01
Speaker
Three success, one advantage. So yeah, you're like, just you blend into the crowd. You know, you're a halfling, it's a busy city, so it's not super difficult for you to keep a low profile. You see Jason, go to a couple of shops, talk to a few people, and then you see him kind of,
00:25:28
Speaker
glance back and forth and turn sharply into a very narrow alleyway. Of course he does. So are you going to look around that corner, I'm guessing? Oh, yes. Give me a perception check. Or actually, what is your perception? Yellow and two green.
00:25:55
Speaker
One yellow, two green. So he's gonna make a stealth roll against a red and two purple. And he has two yellow is his positive. So would you like to fill up a story point to make his check more difficult, to make it two reds and a purple? Yeah. Okay.
00:26:15
Speaker
And we'll say because he was unaware that he was being tailed, we'll go ahead and add a setback die to his role as well, since he didn't know that somebody would be immediately looking after him. So it's two yellow, two red, one purple, one black. One failure, one threat. So you poke your head around the corner just in time, Milo, to see Jason gesturing with a hand.
00:26:46
Speaker
And you see, it's almost like it's under a shimmer. Like something should be covering it, but the innate magic of it is too powerful. You see a dragon mark glow faintly on Jason's like chest and shoulder as kind of shadow envelops him. And he then like, you see a shadowy figure continue down. Like it's really hard to see at this point. Like he's obscured magically his form.
00:27:17
Speaker
Okay. If you want to give me an arcana check, I was about to ask if I could do just that. It is going to be, in order to understand the multitude of what just happened, it's going to be a difficult check. So that's four purple. Come on, Randy. And you know what? I'm going to flip a story point because I have too many. Turn one of those into a red.
00:27:55
Speaker
I'm just, what do we have? We have three story points. I'm wondering if I should flip a two, if you guys would let me flip a two. Flip two for Kylie. Two story points. Yeah, for all the facts, if it would even help. Why don't you make the roll first? Because you might get the information without having to spend it. Right, right, right. Because the two story points let you just get the information.
00:28:19
Speaker
All right, I'm gonna roll. Three success, one advantage. Okay. Nice. So looking at that, what you can understand is you know it's a dragon mark. You understand that. The reason it looked the way it did is Jason is magically disguising himself. So it was like underneath the illusion of a different appearance.
00:28:43
Speaker
Uh, and you furthermore, because of the success of the check, you know, it's not because he's a changeling because a changeling, it would just be still on him. Like there's some kind of magical veil enveloping him, uh, to alter his appearance. So that's what you got. Um, Jason does not normally look like Jason. Okay. Um, one advantage.
00:29:10
Speaker
Not a lot, but. Did we hear, did he identify the dragon mark? With one, I'll let the success and the advantage account for that. It was the mark of shadow, which you also, it was informed by the ability also, you know. Okay, I think Milo's eyes kind of get big and he thinks,
00:29:36
Speaker
I think that's enough for one day. Okay. So that is everyone. Okay. So about a week later.
00:29:51
Speaker
you get early in the morning, early in the morning, you get contacted by Ofin, like just like couriers in the city, he sends word to you all that he arrived that morning to start opening up the four sales and there was a package for the four of you, like basically addressed to you all.

Sivirish Shard Package

00:30:18
Speaker
Okay. So, hey, come have a gander. It's his thing. Does he just put it up on the bar? I mean, yeah, as you all arrive, he just has it out. It's a bundle of cloth tied with twine with a simple card on it that has your all's names on it.
00:30:48
Speaker
I hope it's not another baby. You don't ruin the adventure, Trevor. Let's read the card. All the card says besides your all's name is for seeing justice done. And that's it.
00:31:10
Speaker
Because that can be read two ways. I'm not going to open it myself if somebody else would like to please have at it. Yeah, that could very well mean this package shall administer the justice. Should we do it outside?
00:31:26
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, so it explodes. If you all are concerned about that, then yes, please, outside. Maybe down the block. I mean, this is obviously going to be anticlimactic, but I like the idea of us taking it outside to open it, yes. Eris walks it over to the edge of the tower walkway. Can either of you really press to digitate?
00:31:57
Speaker
I was about to say Milo could probably do it, couldn't he? Me beating it with my staff till it's unwrapped.
00:32:10
Speaker
No, I really don't think so. We're so overdoing this. I think Hobb reaches down and opens the package. I was going to say, Rainard just opens it. He takes it outside. He takes it outside for the goop of it. I think we're down your chain. Yeah, it opens. Yeah, so Hobb, as you open it, you see bundled within like a couple layers of cloth. You see four little amulets with kind of golden
00:32:40
Speaker
crystal with like living light in it encased in silver, but they're very kind of small and you see small cracks in the crystals as well, like some of the light leaks out. Eris, as soon as you look at these, and Hob, you might recognize them also, these are Sivirish shard fragments. So I can really make something out of these.
00:33:07
Speaker
Well, so these have already been made into something if you all want to take advantage of them. So essentially, each of you gets one. And when you, to borrow a D&D term, attune to it, which is instant, you pick one skill.
00:33:25
Speaker
that you have. That skill, career skill, any skill, any skill you like. Combat, social, knowledge, general. That skill is increased by one on all checks that you make. And you can remove one setback die.
00:33:48
Speaker
But because the shards were slightly fractured in the process of making these, you automatically upgrade the difficulty of checks made with that skill. And that upgrade happens at the very end. So essentially what that would mean is, essentially the design of these is to make success on that skill mathematically always more likely, but the possibility of something going wrong while doing it
00:34:19
Speaker
higher with the red dye. So what I mean by that upgrade happens at the very end. If you all had an item or an ability that allows you to downgrade the difficulty of a check, that would happen first. So if it's a three purple difficulty, you would downgrade it by removing a purple, and then you would upgrade it by turning one of those two remaining purple into a red. Make sense? So mathematically, you're far more likely to succeed, but you have that red dye.
00:34:51
Speaker
Can I show you workmanship? Still powerful, but yes. Are they, I mean, are they just like, are they trinkets? Do we pocket them? Are they on chains? Are they on, is it a broom? It's, it's basically just encased in this metal. There is a pin if you want to pin it somewhere, like on your cestus or on your breast or wherever, um,
00:35:16
Speaker
But yeah, I guess Hob doesn't wear a shirt, so that would be painful. Rainard should put it anywhere on the outside of his person. That's a charm, a chain that Rainard finds nice things like, ooh, I'm gonna put that on his person. Don't you think that's not a thing now? Hello?
00:35:38
Speaker
Reinhardt's stealth just slowly goes to crap. He's like, what are your stealth dice, Trevor? Three red, I don't know. Despares are gonna just be that chain getting caught on something as you're running down the street. And yet again, the dagger is missing. My charm increases. Yep.
00:36:07
Speaker
I mean, well done, that was well done, yes. Okay, so I guess the question is just so I know, are you all going to use these and which skill are you going to apply them to?
00:36:20
Speaker
Is that kind of similar to Milo's, what is it, uh, reckless casting or whatever that is that I forget I have? I think so. Yeah. I think it is very similar and it could stack. Uh, if you wanted to get real, real crazy with it. Yeah. Milo I'll use it for something. Okay. Um, so.
00:36:49
Speaker
Good Lord, where is? Of course the obvious choice is put it on Arcana. Yeah. Um, is that the obvious choice? It is for me. Okay. So, um, you all have received those. Okay. I was going to use mine. Oh yeah. What are you going to put it on? I was going to put on something I think makes a lot of sense. That'd be stealth. Stealth? Okay. Yeah.
00:37:20
Speaker
So. The noise of the light is gonna give it away. So, Rainard, as you kind of attune to it, you feel kind of the residual magic of your bloodline kind of spark up a little bit and like kind of a shadowy aura essence briefly whips around you and then dissipates. But just, you know, you're harder to spot and harder to see.
00:37:52
Speaker
Okay, and as you all decide, you can feel free to just let me know. Nobody has to decide right now. Just remind me the wording, was it add an upgrade or add a yellow? Because if I've got two yellow, it's not worth me upgrading it just to get another green. You increase, you don't upgrade, you increase. Yeah, increase, because you always add another green. So if it's like three green, you would have four green. Because that's better in terms of succeeding than adding a yellow.
00:38:24
Speaker
Do we know who these came from? Nope, there's no name. Well, now Eris is also suspicious. Except for Seeing Justice Done, is that what it was? Yes, for Seeing Justice Done. Yeah, you know, actually, yeah, I think Hob asks Eris, like, is there anything you or Olive could do to see what else might be going on in these crystals before we go making them a part of our daily lives?
00:38:54
Speaker
I don't want to know there's a curse hiding in there as well. Yeah, I could take a closer look. Okay. I think Hob hands his two heirs to do that. Unless you think you only need to check one of them, in which case I can hold on to mine. I have no idea. All right. Yeah, then you have two now. Okay. If you were to do that, so help me.
00:39:22
Speaker
So Aeris is gonna pick Artifice and Ranged. Aeris, Aeris, watch into the floor sails tomorrow, eyes on fire, you gave me the stones. Okay. Floats in to the floor sails. Yeah, right. So as you all are regarding these and kind of wrapping up,
00:39:49
Speaker
you see a halfling go to start into the four sails and then stop and see you all outside. And it's like one of the clan lackeys. It's not anybody important. And he just kind of waves and walks over and says, hey, Viggo said that he has a job for you and he's gonna meet you at noon at the four sails. So. Is he walking? Is he walking?
00:40:15
Speaker
He's doing okay. Satan's wife did what she could, which wasn't everything, but... Is his face messed up? Oh, real bad. Wait, so was he seriously injured? This is days later and he's having a hard time walking? I just thought he had a belt on. He's walking by his... His face was just crushed in, so... Yeah, they did what they could, but they...
00:40:41
Speaker
Yeah. You'll, you'll, you'll see for yourself. I have missed everything. Oh, right. Yeah. Yeah. Big, big guy that that, um, what's that big guy's name? Um, the guy, you know, the one that's almost bigger than you. Um, honestly, we've met several in this adventure. So the one who's got the fancy one,
00:41:10
Speaker
Fancy big guy. Are you talking about Solomon? Yeah, that's one. That's the one. Yeah, it was him. I was really hoping it'd get to be you, Hobb. No, he was talking to... Are you

Vigo's Mission from Satan

00:41:25
Speaker
big? You know... What about Solomon? There is... He smashed in Viggo's face. Right, right, right, right.
00:41:34
Speaker
Hob was distracted momentarily by his dog needing to take the cock. And I was saying, I was really hoping you would be the one to get to do it. I mean, his face is still there. Yeah, there's still time. As long as the face, as long as his face exists, there's an opportunity.
00:41:54
Speaker
Um, but that hasn't changed. Absolutely not. Okay. Um, so are you all going to do anything in the interim? You have a couple hours, uh, chat. Don't think so. Okay. Have lunch. Yeah.
00:42:12
Speaker
Um, so as you all are wrapping up an early lunch, uh, Viggo arrives. Um, and, uh, as he walks in, he is wearing, um, a mask, like that just, you can see two black eyes still in the rims of the mask, but it's like one of those, uh, like, like rip Hamilton, uh, for the basketball fans out there, like it's not clear, but it's like a half mask, like top half of his face.
00:42:40
Speaker
Um, and, uh, with whole, like opening right here so he can breathe through his nose and he kind of walks in and is like, hello. Uh, we have, um,
00:43:02
Speaker
We have clay in business to discuss, so, uh, if everybody can... Well, you're all already here, so I'll just continue. I'm sorry, Clam? Clam? Did you, could you enunciate? Oh, my word. No, it's Vigo! Reynard? Oh, my...
00:43:19
Speaker
But he does whistle a little bit when he exhales, right? I mean, yes, it is ridiculous, but he doesn't want it pointed out. Of course he doesn't. Eris's jaw is just clenched as she bites down to not react.
00:43:39
Speaker
And, uh, also, um, Jason is with him, uh, Milo, that, that would be especially of import to you. Um, but Jason just kind of stands by the door after he walks in, uh, just fiddling with, uh, his, his fingernails, just kind of picking at him. Um, he's bored. Uh, so, um, Vigo comes over to your table and joins you. Um,
00:44:09
Speaker
I hope that everything is well and we haven't had any more contact with our new friend. Same to explain the situation to me, so I know that you all had to do the job, but I hope he hasn't given you any more trouble.
00:44:34
Speaker
I'm trying to figure out how insubordinate Hobb is gonna be today because this man has been laid low in front of him and that is something Hobb just simply cannot let slide. On the scale of trouble, I feel like we got off pretty late, but no, we haven't seen him.
00:44:54
Speaker
Okay. Well, I have a job that's coming straight from Satan, but it's not a job for Satan. Basically, I need you all to go over to the peer lads and Tarvel has requested your assistance in a job. I don't know if it's on behalf of the peer lads. I don't know anything, honestly.
00:45:21
Speaker
All I know is that it involves obtaining something, stealing it. So prepare yourselves for that. But Tarvel has all the details. Prepare yourselves to steal something. Have pockets. All right. So our job is steal something from somewhere.
00:45:50
Speaker
And like I said, Tarble was not willing to give up details. So to me directly anyway. Um, so he wants to talk to you all directly. Uh, but payment for the gig will be, uh, five gold pieces each. Uh, in addition to anything else, the PL ads might be able to provide you, but that's in terms of black lamps business, what the fee for this job is. Hmm.
00:46:23
Speaker
All right, then. Anything else? Any questions? I don't have a whole lot of answers, but. No, thanks for. You know, genuinely, thanks for stopping by. It was good to see you.
00:46:48
Speaker
Okay. Well, this has been weird, but I'm going to go. So, uh, if you need anything further, I'll be up at HQ. Farewell. And he gets up and has to stop himself on the chair briefly cause he like stood up too quickly and was, and then turns to walk outside.
00:47:12
Speaker
And then Jason, after Viggo leaves, Jason lingers for a second and looks at all of you and then turns and walks out the door. Did you see him? Did you see him? I know that haircut does not work for him. You're laughing at a man who was needlessly assaulted. I know.
00:47:44
Speaker
Now, now when we get the chance, it will be a much needed assault.
00:47:53
Speaker
Okay, so remind me, Tarvel, have we met Tarvel? I don't have that name. Was he at the dinner party? Yes, I was speaking. Yes, and you met him before you went into the fallen district, remember? Oh, yes, of course, yeah. He was the one that we stopped by and he gave us the tips about, yeah, how to survive the not reavers. Yeah. I don't know why I didn't have that name written down anywhere.
00:48:17
Speaker
Very tall for a halfling, some people mistaken for a short dwarf. That guy. Can you remind me of the spelling? T-A-R-V-U-L. T-A-R-V-U-L. Okay. I think Milo would have said right after Jason leaves. You know, I'm not so much concerned about Vigo as I am about Jason.

Debate over Jason's Identity

00:48:44
Speaker
Jason is not what he appears to be. What is he? Right. This is a conversation. But I saw the tea. Well, I followed him one day. Is that yesterday, I guess? It was a few days ago. We had a whole week.
00:49:07
Speaker
I followed him a few days ago and fortunately he did not see me so he did not know and he went around into an alleyway and I poked my head around the corner just as his upper left side of his chest started to glow. He has a dragon mark of shadow.
00:49:32
Speaker
And he's, he's not Jason. He's something else entirely, but he's not a changeling. I'm not sure what he is. What doesn't that mean? He's an elf. He's, he's an elf. Yeah. Cause Raynard, that is your house's Mark and house. Your house and your rival house is Mark.
00:49:52
Speaker
So yes, so there you go. And then he basically turned into shadow to conceal himself and slunk away. Eris looks at Raynard. And I'm positive he's been following me when I go out and about on my business.
00:50:15
Speaker
Hobb looks a bit at Milo. Like, hey buddy, we could have walked together multiple times of those times. So everybody's looking at each other, Spidermane pointing. We got a real Eberron standoff. Not angrily, Hobb's like, buddy, if it's following you, tell me. But also it's kind of a great radar. Why is he following you?
00:50:40
Speaker
I think he has something to do with Kylie with her death. I just think he does. Yeah, don't. Don't. Oh, aren't we pretty sure the house killed her? That House Boromar killed her? Aren't we pretty sure about that?
00:51:08
Speaker
I'll tell you this, there's a guy in Oklahoma that was pretty sure about it until right now. I don't think it was Boromar. I really don't. I think it's something to do with Jason. Oh, Milo. That's Jeff talking to Milo. I think Randy's doing awesome things. Well, Milo. I am going to get to the bottom of it.
00:51:39
Speaker
Well, I know that I do not know him. How do you know? I've never seen him before we met him. You don't know what he looks like. It's a disguise. He's actually an elf. It might be your cousin or something. Could be your dad. Well, maybe I do know him. No, but really quickly, Milo. I think we were dating. Yeah. Milo, um...
00:52:10
Speaker
If you want to get to the bottom of it, I think you'll need to open your mind to the possibilities that you aren't excited about entertaining. You can't say the Boromars didn't do it. You can't. Not yet. They're the ones who have a reason to. I don't want them to have either, for your sake.
00:52:43
Speaker
beyond the fact that he's a friend of a person we don't like and goes about him to disguise, what else do we have about Jason that would make you believe he's more likely than the clan that Kylie was spying on and informing about? Well, I mean, I know he's been following me when I go about Sean. What reason would he have to follow me?
00:53:11
Speaker
Well, from whom, just taking directives? I mean, I understand what you're saying, but it's just difficult for me to believe that. And Jason just kind of showed up out of the blue to begin with. He was never around before. And then one day he shows up with Viggo. I do not trust Jason at all. Oh, I do not either. I do understand. I understand. I want to be wrong. But if we want to, so...
00:53:42
Speaker
We just want you to expand the list of people you don't trust. We want you to trust fewer people. Fewer people named Boromar. All I can tell you for sure is that I didn't do it. And you didn't do it. I really want to believe that Aerys didn't. I wasn't even shy. Well, there you go.
00:54:09
Speaker
All right, I will I will try to keep a more open mind Well in the way that I worded yours is even more suspect like I want to assume Raynard might have done it And you know
00:54:38
Speaker
Just because it's Bormar doesn't mean it's Satan. Wait. That's very true. No, I just lost it. That doesn't, doesn't it? Isn't Ian charged? So it doesn't, you know, there's a, a, a, um, a Dargul saying about, um, the buck stops here and it's like the person on top kills the buck in a hunt. And so that's the person where the buck stops. And that means they have responsibility for all the stuff. Right. Keep going.
00:55:11
Speaker
I never really understood that idiom. It was... No, simply the same way that Satan can't be held up. I mean, ultimately, but not directly responsible for things that we do in the middle of a job. It's not Satan's fault that those goblins fell to the ground. It kind of is, because it's more like Solomon's fault, because he made us do it. Yeah, he did the rock job.
00:55:37
Speaker
That's odd with this accent. To leave out the extra constant, the extra vowel. Look, Eris, he says a bit to the side, I believe Milo doesn't care about the Bora Mars done it. He cares if Satan done it or dictated it be done. And so I want
00:56:04
Speaker
to try to make him reopen it without being too traumatic for him by saying, maybe Satan didn't know. Who else could have done it? I mean, who else could do it without Satan say so? I mean, literally anyone. Perhaps Jason. But not with Satan being fine that it happened. You think Satan didn't ask any questions when one of his agents suddenly ends up dead?
00:56:33
Speaker
when a bar that he has a stake in gets burned down? Well, if he had questions and was able to ask the right people, perhaps they were able to explain why and Satan decided not to ask further questions.
00:56:47
Speaker
Right, and then... Which would be bad, but it wouldn't be. It's not bad. Look, Kylie's dead. I'm not arguing. That's good. It's all bad. I don't understand. There's degrees to it. I just am trying to make Milo more open to... I lost the voice because I'm so... Look, I think we've all gotten out of this, what we needed.
00:57:11
Speaker
I just wanted to make sure Milo didn't think the Boromard were untarnished in this. That's all.
00:57:19
Speaker
Yes, I understand. I will keep an open mind about everything, but you do understand it. It is difficult because the Boromaz have been so good to my family for years, years and years, especially Satan. And it's just difficult for me to go down that path. But I definitely understand where you're coming from. And I will keep an open mind. Because your family was useful to them.
00:57:50
Speaker
Milo. It's not being good to you, it's using. Milo, I understand. It never felt like we were being used. I believe me. Yeah, it does. I understand. I'm trying to say something because there's a similar life experience on this end of the table, you know? Right, yeah, there is. I understand the pain of
00:58:18
Speaker
Finding out that someone who'd been taken care of you isn't all that you thought they were. Believe me, and I don't wish it upon anybody. All I'm saying is, there's no good coming from making assumptions without evidence right now.
00:58:43
Speaker
And unfortunately, the Boromars are as much a suspect as anyone else, if not more so. Oh, all right. I suppose.
00:58:58
Speaker
We should look into this job. Go visit the peerless lads. Peer lads. Yeah, them guys do. Yeah, they're not wrong. The peerless peer lads. Yeah, if they didn't have a peer, it would be really bad at the job. Yeah, it's true. Ulfin says from behind the bar, it's a pun, Eris.
00:59:22
Speaker
I said, what? And Hoag said, I don't think it actually is. I think it's more of a coincidence. Hoag found it hilarious. OK, well, we are going to wrap things up there.
