Exploring 'The Warrior Book' by Garrett J. White

I have been reading this book called The Warrior Book by Garrett J. White and basically this book is about how to teach men how to be men and to be better men so they can have it all and have it all across four principles and the principles are called the core four.
00:00:49

which is the foundation of what consists of having
Understanding the Core Four Principles
00:00:54

it all. So the core four is body being balanced in business.
00:01:02
Speaker
But more specifically, we're going to be focusing on what I learned on the business part. You see, every single day, according to this book, that I should be taking these four actions or four necessary actions to get my core four points. And basically, it comes down to that body being I have to work out and then feel my body better being I have to learn how to be more present by meditating

Balance is learning to reconnect with my family and love them more and work on myself.
Avoid Premature Sharing on Social Media
00:01:39
Speaker
And then business is discovery and declare. And that's where I want to focus on. You see, too many potters, in my opinion, are they try to think of what they make something that they think kind of looks good, but they don't actually enjoy it. And they put it on to social media.
00:02:01
Speaker
way too quick they put on social media and then they other people on social media their followers are saying oh my god that looks so great but in reality you don't really like what you actually made you just made it so that your followers would be happy and that you can start making money and when you do that it's fine to get opinions on what your pottery is looking like but if you haven't found what you actually like to make
Enjoying Pottery Before Social Media Focus
00:02:30
Speaker
first then it kind of depicts the purpose of what you're trying to make because we're in pottery so that we can make what we want to make so that we enjoy making our own pottery not for somebody else but for us because we need to enjoy our pottery first before we can start to go out and sell it otherwise we're in the face
00:02:50
Speaker
major burnout along the road and we're just going to end up stopping. So we have to figure out what we like to make first.
Discovering Your Pottery Style
00:02:58
Speaker
Now that's why it comes back to discovery and declare. When you are discovering what you like to make, you are trying to find out different ways. You're trying to find out new ways to make your pottery look even better and that you like as well.
00:03:14
Speaker
When you are discovering, you are kind of in this experimental phase where you are trying to figure these things out for yourself. And that's why it's super important to discover and then declare, not declare and then discover. Because if you do it backwards, then you are gonna have a rough time. You're not gonna be making the pottery that you like to make.
The Role of Feedback in Pottery Style Refinement
00:03:37
Speaker
Now, once you have discovered what you like to make,
00:03:42
Speaker
That's when you go and post on social media. You go post it on across platforms. You go get it. People to look at your pottery. This is where this these opinions are going to come in more crucial because you may be making something that you like to make. And then if somebody else gives you an opinion, they might spark another idea on how to make it look better.
00:04:07
Speaker
because you could still be making the same thing, but you're just doing it a little bit different way so that you are making it look better than how it was.
Reiterating Style Discovery Importance
00:04:15
Speaker
So that's why it's super important for you to discover what you're trying to make first, whether that's your sculpting, your wheel throwing, your hand building, whatever it is, you have to discover what your own style is first and what you're trying to depict with your pottery and then go and declare and get opinions afterwards, not declare and then discover.
00:04:37
Speaker
You must discover first and then declare what you have learned and what you have been making after you have found what you like to make.
