Every club. Every day. The Global Sports Podcast Network. work Hello, and welcome to the Daily Arsenal Podcast, brought to you as part of the Global Sports Podcast Network, where we bring you all the Arsenal news, updates, and more.

Analyzing Arsenal's Draw with Chelsea

00:00:18
Speaker
I am your host, Josh Vincent. Today, we are reviewing Arsenal's one all draw with Chelsea at Stanford Bridge, and joining me to dissect this frustrating game are the fantastical Joshua Duncan, Rodney Gooden, and Jamie Patterson. Gentlemen, we're recording this a couple of hours after full time.
00:00:35
Speaker
We got a point away from home, but I have to ask, Josh, does it actually feel like a point away from home or does it feel more like a loss?

Chelsea's Missed Opportunities and Arsenal's Disallowed Goal

00:00:43
Speaker
Yeah, for that I feel like a loss to me. um You know, I think there's spells in the game where we could have could have done something. I think we need to have this win today. And, you know, this was a bit unlucky. We just didn't get it. So I think our race, I still don't see it happening. and I really don't. Not for me.
00:01:03
Speaker
it It did feel like a monumental moment for sure. Rodney, out the race, you do you agree with that necessarily? It's tough to say. I mean, honestly, going into this game today, we we what we really needed was a win. You know, we went a bit but blip lately too. It would have been nice, both to the confidence as well. But I think for the title race, it's a very long way to go. And I think we haven't done ourselves a favor by drawing today. I think the three points would have really gone towards kind of overturning a little blip of form that we've had. But still, you know, I think it's a very long way to go. Going into off the international break as well. I think there's still a possibility, still a chance, but it just means that we need to be absolutely precision perfect going into well the next half of this and uh yeah it made ourselves uh well giving ourselves a bit more work than we needed to. but What we need to do realistically is look at the game in hand so went to Stanford bridge half four kickoff starting off realistically Josh Chelsea should have taken the lead through gusto
00:02:03
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, I don't know how he missed out on the sit-off. I mean, I was there and i she said the baby missed, you know i don't know. I don't know how he missed it. I guess one of the ones, I'm guessing because he's kind of tossing with, him I think it's Gabrielle tossing with. With Martinelli. Yeah, sorry, Martinelli. Yeah. And I think I might have put him off, but yeah, he should have put it back in the net for me.
00:02:27
Speaker
Oh, a hundred percent. It was a huge, huge let off. I mean, Rodney, would you have put that away?
00:02:37
Speaker
No, I probably would have said that wide as well. and but No, but I wanted to say it was excellent work from Pedro Netto as well. Like, honestly, he was one on one with Ben White. Still managed to get the cross off too. Honestly, I agree. Very, very lucky that we didn't concede right then and there. I thought it was over. I couldn't believe you put that aside. So, amazing. I mean, he did come to punish us later on because Netto was having a pretty solid game there. Jamie, there was a moment where we thought early on
00:03:11
Speaker
that Arsenal had taken the lead. Quick free kick, rice, seeing the opportunity, fed Kai Havertz. Kai managed to get a bit of space, tucks it away with his right foot. Gorgeous! But he's offside. By his shoulder. What do you make of that, Jamie? Like, if he was a foot offside or a shoulder offside, maybe you could get get, maybe slightly get away with it, but Yeah, I mean, look, I'm sure for JD, he must be sitting there thinking, ah, well, you know, Kai's not scored. So, you know, i can I can have a little rest day from him. I mean, ah Josh, it was a good finish.
00:03:49
Speaker
Um, yeah, it was a good finish, but yeah, I mean, you know, offside is offside, you know, it was a, it was a shoulder offside or either side. That's why we put the rules in. That's what we want. We want consistency, you know, and I was happy to see, um, was it, um, McQuay, he got, he got yellow colored for, um,
00:04:06
Speaker
I was literally about to bring it up. he ifoed that i thought that five Finally some consistency in decisions in the sense that, what was it? It was just fiddling around with it. It's been delaying the restart.
00:04:22
Speaker
Oliver rightly booked him because it's about blooming time that somebody else got booked for it apart from an Arsenal player. Now, um Rodney, I know you like to um discuss players and sort of like their ups and downs. Is it just me or is Jackson made out of twigs? Because every time any of our players went anywhere near him, he just crumpled to the floor in a heartbeat.
00:04:46
Speaker
Yeah, it was ridiculous. I think, I think it was one where we gave the free kick away where I think it was Odegard and two other Arsenal players surrounding him. And I knew from the moment they got close, he's going to ground. Don't do it. It was a trap. Yeah, unbelievable. And he's going to draw the foul every single time because he's not going to go on and score. You know, this he's looking to gain whatever advantage he can. So ah frustrating to watch, but fair play to him. If that's what you got to do, that's what you got to do. I mean, it was you in the group chat who was sort of almost commentating the free kicks as they went along. It's just like, ah oh, another free kick. goes And then two minutes later, again, typical. to be honests with but For myself and Josh, right. We, we obviously weren't watching it on TV. We were kind of like watching it just a couple seconds behind. And yeah like, I'd be,
00:05:34
Speaker
At that point, I'm there muting all the group chats, but I didn't mute our group chat. So I'm sitting there and I'm like, oh no, what's happened? Oh no, Rodney, what's happening?
00:05:47
Speaker
Now we've we've mentioned ah Kai and Josh. Me and you talked about how much of a warrior he was earlier this week in the inter-game, taking a batter-in for the team. eat He started cracking open again. That wound opened. The bloody warrior, the true Arsenal player. And he got a yellow card for it.
00:06:06
Speaker
Well, he got a yellow card, he didn't get off the pitch. Everyone knows what he got off the pitch. I was just like, I was like, what is he? I was just like, why did he get off the pitch? He delayed himself. Like, he delayed himself. He pointed his team with ten men. Just get off the pitch quick as possible. Let the physio do what they need to do and get back on the pitch. It's a silly yellow card to give away. Stuff like that is frustrating. It was really weird. It's a silly yellow card to give away.
00:06:31
Speaker
It was a really odd yellow card. I can't even define and defend Kai on that one.

Goals by Martinelli and Neto

00:06:36
Speaker
But then, I mean, my boy, Gabriel Martinelli, found at the back by Captain Fantastic, Jamie, one nil up to the Arsenal, one nil to the Arsenal. That goal was, what were Chelsea's defenders doing? This is what I want to know. Because it was a great finish and a great move, but there was no one near him.
00:06:58
Speaker
No, we caught Chelsea napping. We literally caught them napping. The fact that Saka was unmarked and Martinelli was unmarked. I kind of just sat there and was like, please, just square it. Square it to Saka. Don't be so greedy. But then, listen, Sanchez was like, look, I've got a little space for you just here. You know, if you want to like try and aim for the space there, be my guest. I'm not fazed by it. And Martinelli was like, yeah, thank you. I'll i'll take the chance. Why not?
00:07:23
Speaker
I mean, Rodney, should Sanchez have done better there? Or was it actually really smart placement from mine that he just to get it just over his arm where he was naturally placed? I think Kiefer's always got to do a bit better by the near post as well. I agree. You don't want to put him back over the other side, leave all that other space on the goal opened up to you. So he's caught in between two minds, but I think, yeah, he should have done a bit better, but at the same time, Martin Daly does well. And was it Gusto who came in who tried to block the shot as well? Like maybe three business days too late. yeah know great business it was and as I said in the group chat you know a gorgeous goal and a gorgeous effect because he managed to make Gary Neville lose his voice and for everybody watching that was a yeah absolute blessing it was hilarious watching you listening to him try and talk about the girl like my man has done something good
00:08:13
Speaker
just like finally now that's being quiet i quite like the facts as well but um i quite like the facts as well that he kind of dropped a tea he was like um dropped a cheeky little sponsor room was like about the the lozenges and stuff like that and i found that got strezels ready on hand i think We talked about a goalkeeper should have done better. There's another instance of goalkeeper potentially should have done better. I mean, it was a cracking shot from Neto to equalise Josh. Do you think parties should have been closing him down fast? I mean, Gabriel was furious after he got the shot off and it led to Chelsea getting that goal back.
00:08:49
Speaker
Yeah, you can see he did the switch off for a split second and then he just got punished, you know. He had way too much space, he literally had to pick a corner really and i'm yeah, just poor defender really, you think about it. wasn't It wasn't great, was it? like When Fernandez was coming in, obviously they made the change and Neto went on the right hand side and from that point he was absolutely devastating cutting in on that. They must have been in a good 25 yards out, it was a cracking finish but Rodney, party. I am not convinced by him this season necessarily. I think, and and oddly, at right back, I think he was doing better than he is in the centre of the pitch. I think he's a little bit, I don't know, out of sorts in the middle. do you What do you see as a party at the moment? No, I agree. I think a party, whether it's injury or whether it's just long seasons, sometimes inconsistency does creep into a swarm a bit, but I think this season,
00:09:46
Speaker
Is it possibly being played out of position? Is it the going from CDM to right back to CDM again? Like maybe this, you know, is just sort of maybe making it a bit difficult, maybe a bit more lapses in concentration, a bit more judgment as well. I think, yeah, definitely. Pate has sometimes a string of games where he can be absolutely top tier, but this one was not really going to be the one for him. And so, yeah, forms dip in a bit. Hopefully coming back off the international break, we'll see a bit more, but he should have done better, especially with the Neto goal.
00:10:12
Speaker
He should have done. Oh, sorry, Josh. He probably gained. I That's very very true. Now, we are we're going to take a little quick break. We're going to hear a message from our partners at Zancaster. And when we come back, we're going to talk about why this game feels like a little bit of a lot and a particular player who's featured quite a lot in our podcast recently and had a discussion around him.

Trossard's Performance Issues

00:11:16
Speaker
Arsenal Podcast. We are reviewing our One All Draw with Chelsea at Stanford Bridge. And now I know I spoke to you last last time, but Josh, I'm going to come back to you because me and you have had a little bit of a discussion about this over the last few last week or so.
00:11:30
Speaker
There was one player who in our group chat riled up everybody and I mean everybody because on two occasions they failed or messed up Arsenal's chances of taking the win. Leandro Trossard. Talk to me about Leandro Trossard Josh.
00:11:52
Speaker
Well, one of the best day I've got, i've got a and you know, I don't know if you've got in his head or, you know, you've been listening to it and then even hearing ah you know, it's not the trust that I know, you know, he's a he's a guy that, he normally makes the right decisions. Sometimes he can be a bit greedy, you know, he can be a bit greedy, but he sometimes have does make the right decisions. But yeah, that that last chance, I mean, to be fair, habits was all side, it was all side, but at the same time,
00:12:20
Speaker
but Let's just say he wasn't offside. yeah wait do What doing? What on earth is he doing? like Stuff like that just frustrates you. didn what What can you really say? The first effort, having how he screws it up, was bad enough. But that that last minute moment of getting in Havers. Yes, I know that Havers was offside and it probably would have been crawled out, but still.
00:12:40
Speaker
Rodney sent a very, very angry voice note to the group, ah somewhat blaming me like you did just then, finally goes drop in form. Now, Rodney, before we come to you on this, Jamie, do you feel like I'm being ganged up or do I have a point here?
00:12:57
Speaker
Do you know what, I'm not going to vouch for anyone here. Look, at the end of the day, you know, I just think, look, Trossard, I don't know what it is, but with Trossard, it just seems like Greed as is starting to come across him now, you know.
00:13:13
Speaker
I kind of touched on it before we started recording. You know, since the City game, I feel like since that red card, it's really kind of changed him. veil Even before that, the Villa game, where he chose not to do his signature celebration, and and it took Saliba for him to kind of be like, hey, you know...
00:13:31
Speaker
and then he went like that. But I don't know, could something be going on behind the scenes that we're unaware of? I just, I don't know. But look, if I was Trossard, I would be very careful at the minute because, you know, now that Martinelli is scoring, um look look at look at you, mate, you're loving this. He better be careful, he better be careful. tell you that left the figure with pro i would I would be careful because, you know, at the end of the day,
00:13:58
Speaker
you know, with Martinelli doing reasonably well. And, you know, again, I do think Trossard is more of an impact player from the bench, but I just, yeah, Trossard needs to be really careful because he's just, I don't know, he feel I feel like he's just losing his form a little bit now. Yeah. um Rodney, do you do you kind of agree with that main character energy he's running around with a little bit at the moment? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think I do. I think last season and even at the start of this one, it was Leandro Trossard,
00:14:26
Speaker
he clearly wants to start as a player, but I always thought more impactful coming off the bench, super sub. He clearly doesn't like that. So we saw first game of the season, you know, even the Villa one as well. The celebration, as we talked about with Salima coming in and having to encourage him, he was clearly making a statement to everyone about why I should be starting. I shouldn't be have to come off the bench lately. I should be starting these games.
00:14:45
Speaker
And then Arteta gives him the chance. He starts starting several games and then we start to see what we saw with Trossard last season, which is when he does start, he doesn't often make as you know big an impact as he does when he does come off as a sub. And so we have a couple games where you start and the form's not there and this time he comes on as a sub again and now this is the killer. Not great as a starter and now super sub Trossard. Apparently that guy doesn't exist anymore, so it's looking very dangerous for Leo, especially because as we said earlier, beginning of the season, Martinelli's form was not great. Now he is picking up goals, so you're really going to have to start competing for that spot. And this game, he had so many chances to put it away, and I think it's just poor decision-making from Leo. I do feel maybe a bit too selfish, maybe a bit overconfident. He does need to look at himself and think, what can he do to really support the team as opposed to supporting himself?
00:15:31
Speaker
I think that's the crux of it really. he's There is definitely a selfishness to his play at the moment, yeah which is not in favour of

Odegaard's Impact on Arsenal

00:15:40
Speaker
the team. However, somebody who is not selfish whatsoever and who is finally back Martin Erdegaard played the whole game for us, which I thought, seeing as it was his first start coming back, playing the entire game was a risk I wasn't necessarily comfortable with, but I thought immediately we were looking better playing through the middle.
00:16:03
Speaker
Because the last few games, there has been nothing going through the middle whatsoever. It's all been down the wings. I mean, even the intergame, what, 46 crosses or something ridiculous like that. We just had no creativity in that central passage. Josh, did you notice a difference with Odegard on the pitch as well? Or do you reckon it's still a little bit too early and he needs to warm into it a bit more?
00:16:21
Speaker
100% he knows the difference with all the guys in the team. He's Mr Fantastic. He's the reason why he's our captain. in the sitting zomp was in He played minutes on on the pitch and he worked his socks off. you i Even if he wasn't 100% fit, he couldn't afford me. you i he he he played he did He did a really good job without me to afford.
00:16:41
Speaker
But I think for the whole team, I think we do look a bit lacklustre. The energy is just not there. and You can tell, I'm i going to assume that it's due to everyone not being fully fit. And then the sharpness is just not really there. I think we need to start getting that back if we're going to really push for this title because I have performances like this today and the Newcastle game and the Bournemouth game. Otherwise, we're definitely out of it. Do you think it was a better performance than the Newcastle game?
00:17:07
Speaker
Yeah, I personally do. I think i think there was, again, older God, he was the the main difference. and You can see making things happen. he always He was the go-to guy, of course, to happen. And they you know that wonderful cross that you you know, it was a great pull. You can't take it more away from older God.
00:17:29
Speaker
No, it's so good to see it back. However, it looks as though, I mean, hopefully it's not the case. We might be switching one brilliant player out injured for another. Because towards the end of the game, who should go down, but arguably the second most important player in the Arsenal team, or some would say the first. Jamie, Saka.
00:17:50
Speaker
went down injured after a challenge from Kukureya who, him and Kukureya have become like uber enemies in terms of the Chelsea Arsenal rivalry, the England-Spain rivalry. It's always an interesting matchup, but it looks as though Kukureya might have left something on Saka this time. Does that worry you slightly?
00:18:09
Speaker
Yeah, a little bit. I mean, we've we've all known Saka to kind of carry like a little knock or or a little something. But again, I'm kind of glad that we've got the international break. The only worry that I do have going into this international break is how Lee Karsley is going to use Saka because after seeing that game if i if i see him start against who who've been gone uh republic of ireland yeah right if i oh my gosh if i see sack a star against the republic of ireland i think at this point i'm probably going to lose it because
00:18:42
Speaker
why why why would you after watching that chelsea game why would you then think to go and start him you know go go and be experimental it's your last game as interim coach anyway go and be experimental go and play okay so rule like like what ram stylele at right right wing yeah grateful around but takinging a break I mean choll but but i won i ah want everyone back fit and healthy. And look, again, there's a lot of players that we've not even spoken about the potential that maybe California could be back after the international break. Think about it. If we really do think about this in perspective, right, we could have
00:19:23
Speaker
close to a fully fit squad providing that Odegard uses his time during the international break bearing in mind he's not going he's not going away so that's a that's a huge positive there and I just think providing we get Califuri back I think we could maybe be slowly back to where we need to be but again You know, we're coming back to a home fixture and then we've got loads of away fixtures coming up. So it's like, we can't catch a break at home. So yeah, it's going to be an interesting international break, but I really hope I won't lose my plot whilst on international

Injury Concerns: Saka and Rice

00:19:58
Speaker
break. Well, interestingly, when, when Saka went down, I had an immediate sort of controversial theory and Rodney, I want to get your take on it.
00:20:08
Speaker
the The challenge he went under down was quite tough, admittedly. you know that's a pretty It was pretty brutal coming together. Rice went off and looked a bit uncomfortable. And I thought, Sucker's selling this a little bit. Is he trying to get out of international duty? So my theory is, him and Rice are not in the mood for going to play for Lee's Carsley's last squad. And have hurt themselves a little bit too much.
00:20:33
Speaker
Obviously the early guys are not going. It would be a bit of a blessing if they didn't go, especially considering when we come back, we've got Forrest. What do you make of this ah this theory, Rodney? Well, they don't call us masters of the dark arts for nothing, so... I'd be happy to see it! I'd be happy to see it! That's what I'm talking about!
00:20:55
Speaker
see These are the standards. You go down when it hurts just before you do that little duty. Not before, that just before Lee Carsley wants you. Well, actually, rodnie before we do move on, because we're going to move on to the rest of the Premier League um after this, as far as I start next.

Upcoming Match Against Nottingham Forest

00:21:14
Speaker
Weird to say how scary a game that is, let's be honest, considering considering the last 20 years of history. But a bit of a scary game coming up against the forest. Are you feeling, obviously it'll be after the international break, Erdogan's gonna stay home, like Jamie said, and hopefully rest up. How are you feeling sort of about looking into that one in the future?
00:21:34
Speaker
Well, before the season started, I was confident, you know? yeah Forest, e etc et cetera, et cetera. Then I saw the string of results. I saw Chris Wood return to form. I saw what they did to Liverpool. And now I'm thinking, oh, oh, this might be a much tougher game than I thought it was going to be, actually. So yeah, I'm also thinking, yep, full team, fully fit, starting 11, strongest 11 out there, taking no chances. Nottingham Forest are on a madness right now. And yeah, we need to need to definitely put our best. Oh, yeah.
00:22:00
Speaker
That is a five at the back, four in midfield, one up front and defend the living daylights out of it. I guess it's coming up next week. Right. um That is it for the Arsenal Chelsea review. What we're going to do is we're going to take a little break here from the Global Sports Podcast Network. And when we come back, we're going to talk about what was quite an interesting week in the Premier League as a whole. So we'll be back just after this break.

Global Sports Podcast Network, every club, every day. And welcome back to the Daily Arsenal Podcast. It is the last part of our Monday review of the Chelsea match where we drew 1-0 at Stafford Bridge. We've already talked about the game in quite a bit of detail, so we're going to look now at the rest of the Premier League because it was quite a consequential week this week.

Liverpool's Dominance and City's Struggles

00:23:14
Speaker
um Josh, I want to go to you first.
00:23:17
Speaker
We're gonna go to the full sort of layout of the table in a bit, but Liverpool are on an absolute storm at the moment. They are five points clear of City, nine points clear of Arsenal, 15 goal difference sitting in first, and they absolutely took Villa apart. I mean, 2-0 was not a reflective scoreline of that game. It should have been far more, what on earth is Arn Schlot doing there that's going so well?
00:23:45
Speaker
um I think he just started a play. I've noticed that how he just, he he's very calm. You know, like clock was a bit eccentric and he'd team a full pace and that's probably why they had so much injuries. Now everything just seems a bit more calm and he's managed to keep everyone fit. And, you know, they've had the had a good fixture list, you know, everyone they've played. this and They haven't really faced anyone really too tough apart from us, Chelsea and United. So that's been, that's been in their favor as well. And I mean, yeah, they've, they've got them playing, got them playing very well at the moment. So time will tell how far he can take it.
00:24:14
Speaker
united tough game well on pay five you know with the history you know i mean it's funny they're doing really good now after 10 hours left you know instant isn't it like the the bald man curse has gone they don't need to worry anymore but no i mean liverpool have been remarkable but rather than be the big game of the week let's be honest on saturday Brighton coming from behind at home, beating City 2-1. I mean, it was Pedro and O'Reilly got the goals for Brighton after Harland opened it. It's the first time since 2006 that City have lost four in a row.
00:24:57
Speaker
Why aren't we above them? This is what I'm saying. I messaged the group, I saw the string of results for City and I said they've been slipping, whether it's Champions League performances, whether it's Premier League performances, and I'm thinking why are we slipping as well? This is the time to pull away from them.
00:25:12
Speaker
It really is. and really and What do you think is going wrong there at the moment? Because obviously they're lacking they're missing Rodgeri, which is massive. It would be huge for any team, especially with how important he is for how they play. But it can't just be that. It's a bit like us missing Erdogan. It couldn't just be that. There's got to be something else going wrong there. Is there anything that you see? Like the back car walkers looked a bit iffy, like no creativity has not been there. What do you see as their big problem currently?
00:25:39
Speaker
um I'm not even really sure when it comes down to see I just think maybe after a string of just kind of back to back incredible performances as well they're looking for something a bit new they need to be a bit more creative the game is kind of adjusting around them and maybe it's one where city of state a bit stagnant in a way they have an involved in kind of changing the way that you need to do to maintain that dominance.

And now that they've sort of kind of maintained that same similar form, it's just no longer enough. They need to be evolving and be more creative in ways and key injuries to certain players and Roger are going away doesn't help too. But I'm thinking Pep and the team, they're going to need to really kind of up the ante if they want to kind of maintain that dominance. Football's an evolving game, so you can't stay the same. And what was it that Pep said? He said, to He came out sort of in a slightly, ah slightly controversial way. He said, so I can't remember exactly what it, oh yeah, maybe it's time someone else had a go.
00:26:27
Speaker
at the title. enough I think it was, I'm pretty sure it was that he's, where is it? It work it was basically come out saying that um it would be like, I'd rather, like basically trying to say, I'd rather see someone else win the title. It's someone else's turn to have a go. All right. Well, if it's someone else's, if it's someone else's to have a go, give it to Arsenal. Let's, you know, give us a title. I want to earn the title. I don't want to be given the title. you got and Also, let's be honest, how much of a middle finger is that to every other team? Just like, oh, we well it's probably time for us to let someone else have a go. Just because he's playing badly. like ah miniy yeah great and I think it's an insult more than anything else to the quality of the league, isn't it? Four defeats in a row, we have to change things quick. The schedule's becoming tough. Maybe after seven years winning six Premier Leagues, maybe one year another team deserves it.
00:27:25
Speaker
ah I don't want. I don't like that lads. I don't like that. I'll be honest with you. We'll take it off them. That's how it's going to happen now. going from the top to the bottom. it Actually, it's funny that this has landed on you, Jamie, because we talked about this a bit ah just before we started. there um Remind our listeners who your girlfriend supports for us, please.

Challenges Facing Crystal Palace

00:27:47
Speaker
She supports Crystal Palace. Yes, Crystal Palace are currently 18th. They are in the relegation zone. Last year, they were having a brilliant time of it, and so especially towards the end of the season. What on earth is going on there, mate? What is going down?
00:28:01
Speaker
Oh, just I feel for palace. The thing is they make they they made my weekend by beating Spurs. um But I just think it's injuries. Unfortunately, they have been pretty injury plagued. And I think there was an article, there's an article on the athletic and I was watching a video on um some palace analysis. And I just think, I just think that since Elisei has left, I just think they've maybe not quite replaced Elisei. And the thing is you've got Saar who kind of plays in that Elisei role, but
00:28:37
Speaker
again there's a there's a string of it it's injuries and you know and a lot of palace fans nowadays have kind of ah i'm a bit annoyed with kamada because i had him in my fantasy team he went and got me minus one for getting himself sent off sent off sorry and i've just Oh and a lot of Palace fans have kind of been quite annoyed with Kamada's performances recently. You know he scored against Villa in the cup but again it's just not it's not been enough and you know my girlfriend kind of said to me this morning um actually you know maybe it's just for the best that he doesn't you know he's suspended for the three games but Palace might look to overturn his suspension so
00:29:16
Speaker
Yeah, um bit I am. I'm a bit worried for them because I'd like to have them in the Premier League. I'd like to, you know, have that little bit of rivalry. But, you know, yeah, good luck to Palace because I do keep a firm eye on them. But yeah, it's ah it's ah I haven't quite seen their run of games, but it will probably make your life easier if they stay up. but So let's be honest.
00:29:38
Speaker
yeah It probably would i probably would. Yeah. i would Yeah. Josh. every week there are ups and downs in the Premier League but there was one great up this week Ipswich got their first win of the season which hey I like Ipswich I like the way they play well done Ipswich and it was against Spurs
00:30:04
Speaker
Spares are supporting a part of the moment, aren't they Josh? It's great. I never thought it would lose today. I think I put both teams to score and I think Tottenham to win. I just don't want them to win. I wasn't going to say anything, but I thought... The one time I needed to do me a favour is not me. You know, they just mess it up. Like, honestly. They're not looking good there. You know, they lose in midweek as well in the Europa League picture as well.
00:30:37
Speaker
um looking as i mean with a double marine it back to ha I love it. Do you think they need eat enough under the fire and seat? I mean, what, they're 10th at the moment and um da that they're not doing great. I mean, I think the thing is, with Spurs, their fans expect way more, but realistically, when exactly yeah why why when you look at their team, it's like, really?
00:31:08
Speaker
that's both call like like song is the only main star and people you know some people don't like him about that and I think it's decent but I mean, Son's quality is much better than James Madison, that's for sure. We're not going to go back into that if you If you listen to Wednesday's episode, you'll hear all about that. Wednesday's Wildcard episode. um The last thing that I want to bring up, Rodney, this is this is for you, but it's kind of we can open it up to everybody else as well.
00:31:38
Speaker
At the moment the table's really congested.

Premier League Standings Tighten

00:31:40
Speaker
There's four teams that are tied in third place with 19 points each. There's um this three tied in fourth was 18 and there's actually only four points between Chelsea who are in third and United who are in 13th. Which leads me to the question Have Manchester United actually had a better season than people think? Or has everyone else had a much worse season than everybody thinks? Good question. o Wow, wow, wow. Because it's very close, considering all the press that's been around United having a terrible season. Four points off of third. You know what? I think I might chalk that up to everyone else having a worse season. Yeah.
00:32:23
Speaker
Yeah, I might think that, yeah, if you think about it yeah a and and and city as well, I think, yeah, to be fair, Monday nights is not been great, but then they've got rid of 10 hard, you know, they're starting to maybe turn things around with the last couple of blocks that they've got. And now, oh, 13 for making potentially make a jump. I think that's everyone else is also having a terrible time. So I'm going to give it to her. We'll see what happens. Do you lads agree with that? Because when when I saw that, it was just like, ah just it came to me that we are not far off their points, Tally. We only have four more points than them. And let's be honest, we've been giving them a lot of grief. A lot of grief. Rightly so. But do you agree with Rodney's assessment? like Jamie, do do you agree with that?
00:33:01
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, I would definitely say so. I mean, you look at some of the teams that are around, ah you know, no one thought that Forrest would be where they are sitting in fifth. You know, again, Bournemouth have been doing quite decent. Brentford, you know, are in that mix. Tottenham, Villa, Newcastle, Fulham, another one. You know, foot I think certain teams have kind of seen the downfall of others and have just taken advantage. And I would say that Fulham are one of them.
00:33:30
Speaker
And I would definitely say that maybe even Newcastle and Brighton have been another one of them as well, because you look at the results. I mean, who thought that Brighton would get a result against City? Yeah. You know, no one... That can't even define on me. It was in my echo. Actually, I thought it would be a draw. I thought it would be a draw. It was fair. I had Brighton to be in my echo. Wow. But, yeah. It was Spurs that let me down, but such a... Oh, damn. Wow.
00:33:58
Speaker
okay Wow, wow, wow. But I think, again, you the international, but I think this Christmas period now is going to be really interesting. I think when we get into January, we'll, I think we'll get a much better perspective of the table. So I would like to see come, come like once the festive period is done and dusted because December is going to be very packed out. um It will be very congested. And I think by the time we get to January, it will then kind of determine the gap and, you know, and so on.
00:34:27
Speaker
Right, last question. Josh, 28% of the seasons have been played. Is City still going to win it?
00:34:36
Speaker
um ah Well, look they've you know, they're they're they're the hunters, you know. they they They've made the situations where they they've been behind and they've just kind of found the way to win the title.
00:34:48
Speaker
but they're leaking goals, you know, they're leaking goals and then they're missing Audrey and he'd not even not be back. So it might be a chance for someone else to win it this season. All right, everybody needs to put on a bet for Forrest to win the Premier League year. i'm sure the um school from john I bet the odds are really disappointing as well. You've seen him having a bit of a run. It's like, Lester, point two. We can't let them catch us out this time.
00:35:17
Speaker
