Introduction and Episode Context

00:00:00
CODES
Hi everybody. It's me again.
00:00:06
CODES
Sorry, I'm going to get over it so far. But oh guys, thank you for joining us again in the third episode of Covenant Diaries. So far, if you have not listened to the first episode, I'm going to let you guys, what is this? Is this the way we show love on here?
00:00:23
CODES
Yeah, just pause this one right now and go back to the first episode so you can catch up on what we we're talking about so far. This season so far, I believe it's going to be very different. It's going to be unique and I pray that it blesses your heart.
00:00:37
CODES
But anyways, today it's going to be really casual. It's just me here, my sister Rebecca, and Jonathan is joining us again today.

Jonathan's Introduction and Youthful Lessons

00:00:48
CODES
Guys, he had recorded the previous episode with us and he's going to be on set with us today and also the next episode.
00:00:58
CODES
coming forward so please do not leave stay tuned for that one okay but real quick jonathan can you introduce yourself to our viewers well good to be back again it's uh i think this one's gonna be pretty interesting the topic that we have i think it's gonna be really juicy a lot of people that's listening it's gonna be really juicy and spicy I'm excited to share. I don't know. i don't know about Becky and Jonathan, but I'm excited to share.
00:01:32
CODES
But yeah, we're talking about lessons that we've learned in our teens and, you know, in our 20s. I mean, I'm not, we're not, we're going to try to sound really old now, but I'm not telling our age, but we just want to share a couple of things that we've learned a couple years that were decades back.
00:01:49
CODES
Maybe we might have a segment of this with Joel and Jeremy.

Personal Faith vs Inherited Beliefs

00:01:56
CODES
in in the dimension of talking about things that we've learned in the ministry so far. That's going to be what we're going to about with you and other bros
00:02:04
CODES
Okay. But this one is just for our teens and 20s. Right. But anyways, hopefully we we can all have them all in one in one place and we record that episode for you guys.
00:02:14
CODES
But for now, without further ado we're just going to go straight into it. I don't know who wants to go first. The guests. You always have to let the guests go first. i'm gonna let i'm gonna let the Bishop, Bishop Jonathan go first?
00:02:29
CODES
Lessons that were learned, you know, in our teens and 20s. Okay.
00:02:38
CODES
Well, the first one that came to mind is is don't basically basically don't live off of your parents' faith we have to know God for ourselves you know sometimes growing church we become so just becoming a routine over the years and we get caught up with a routine instead of being intimate with Jesus Christ
00:03:16
CODES
a And we get to the place where have an encounter. Mechanical.
00:03:25
CODES
Right. And if we evaluate our lives, we could even tell right now. And I believe one thing that God does
00:03:35
CODES
in our lives
00:03:38
CODES
not to kill you or to break you which is sometimes it would reveal whether your faith is built on HIM and and maneuvering that storm you would tell if you have your own relationship with Christ or are you just going off of what you've and parents did inside that's for a time growing up.
00:04:13
CODES
But we all need our own relationship, experience, encounter with Jesus.

Early Faith and Parental Influence

00:04:20
CODES
In Philippians 3.10, it says, I want to know Christ.
00:04:23
CODES
Yes. and to participate in His suffering. The only way for us to do that is for us to know Him for who He is. That's right.
00:04:32
CODES
You know, so we have to experience God. for ourselves. yes yeah So it's, you cannot live off of your parents' faith.
00:04:43
CODES
You need your own.
00:04:46
CODES
I totally agree with that. That is so relatable. And I really did come to that realization as well at some point in my life. Do you want to go? or I think the first one he sort of kind of read my mind.
00:05:02
CODES
But I think what I learned is that it's always important that you, like you said, find God at the early stage.
00:05:14
CODES
Because when you find God, that's when that's when you find your purpose.
00:05:20
CODES
You know, most times when we delay the process, I think it's not us even delay. Sometimes it's usually the enemy blindfolding us. right letting us wallow in sin.
00:05:31
CODES
It impedes us from actually having a true genuine encounter with God. right? If let's say if I had been able to find God as a teenager, then maybe now I would have been aligning in my assignment, living a purposeful life.
00:05:49
CODES
Because a lot of times when we don't find God at an early age, right? It leaves room. It opens the door for compromise, right? Low self-esteem, trying to fit in instead of standing out from the crowd.
00:06:04
CODES
So finding God at an early stage is what I've learned. And also, the second thing that I've also learned is like learning to honor my parents.
00:06:17
CODES
Because I understand that our parents, you know, into ministry, you know, there's always room, I guess, when you know somebody so much, it becomes too familiar with the person.
00:06:31
CODES
People on the outside see them as different, oh, this and that. But then when you come to yourself, you're looking at them completely different. Not understanding that it's always good to walk towards, I guess,
00:06:47
CODES
what's the word I'm looking for? No, not finding balance. But

Humanity, Feedback, and Self-Worth

00:06:53
CODES
it's like pursuing what they're pursuing, right?
00:06:57
CODES
Tapping into the same grace that God has given to them.
00:07:00
CODES
Because like they said, of a familiarity brings contempt. So because we see you see them too often, you take them for granted. So that's what the second thing I learned.
00:07:15
CODES
What else?
00:07:19
CODES
i cant I can't remember the rest. well What I had was really related to what you had mentioned with over-familiarity, right? i For me personally, I guess I would say I've learned to see, I've learned to have the ability see people for who they are while showing respect as I guess when I was younger, it was a little harder for me to
00:07:51
CODES
see people as humans when i put when i have people on the high pedestal like i feel like they can't do nothing wrong and when you do do something wrong it makes me feel like they're completely failed in life right that's true so i always had that black and white perspective like if if they make a mistake then they're completely a bad person no it's not really black and white the estimate they might make mistakes but that doesn't mean that the entirety of them is bad there is room for grace and there's room for growth i guess that's partly my the way my mind works sometimes when i do make mistakes in the past i would see it will feel like i've completely failed
00:08:34
CODES
entirely. And that goes back to the next thing that I've learned in, you know, knowing how to analyze feedback from people. You know, i learned I've learned to sifter things and not really swallow a whole chunk of the feedbacks, right?
00:08:49
CODES
I know sometimes feedbacks are very uncomfortable for people, but at some point you really have to learn to know what to accept and what to really chew out, right? What to swallow and what to chew out. And that comes at you analyzing where is this coming from?
00:09:04
CODES
Is the person giving that advice or correction from God? Or is it is the correction in line with the word of God and be honest with yourself and knowing if what they're saying is actually true about you being honest, right with yourself.
00:09:17
CODES
And knowing that even though that this part of you is bad, it doesn't mean that the entirety of you, the whole creation of you is essentially wrong, right?

Conscience, Convictions, and God's Love

00:09:25
CODES
You're not a mistake. Your life is not a mys mistake.
00:09:28
CODES
Your life, you God is intentional towards you. While you have that correction, God corrects people that He love. So when you do get those corrections, it doesn't mean that you're hated. It doesn't mean that everything about you is wrong.
00:09:40
CODES
It just means that there's some areas in your life that you just need to work in that doesn't really define that you're a failure right something i've learned i hope that helps someone out there and also i've learned to the art of differentiating between neurotic conscience and conviction by the holy spirit now this has been a work in progress and i'm still learning to be perfected in that initially when i was younger in faith I literally, I had such a bad neurotic conscience. Every little thing would make me feel like I've done wrong.
00:10:15
CODES
Even though, like, someone said hi to me and I didn't say hi back. You feel guilty. I feel guilty. Even if someone, like, I passed by and I didn't say hi to someone and they look at me dirty.
00:10:27
CODES
It's like I've sinned or or maybe I slipped up something that I wasn't supposed to say. It makes me feel like I've sinned like my sins were unforgivable. it So it goes into that mindset of like that negative mindset that I had that, oh,
00:10:43
CODES
maybe people are so petty and i kind of like indirectly protect that on God but God has been so merciful in revealing Himself to me and knowing that He is love that is why we talked about love in the previous episode and this is your cue to listen to it if you haven't already But yeah, God is love and He's not petty.
00:11:01
CODES
So while you may have those conscience running through you, that those neurotic conscience can be condemnation. You're bad, you're going out, you're this, you're that. But the conviction of the Holy Spirit comes from a place of love.
00:11:14
CODES
He does not condemn you. The Holy Spirit will never condemn you. Again, the voice of the Holy Spirit will never condemn you. He will never say you're going, you're automatically doomed. He will never say that. Or rather, will tell you softly that, oh, what you're doing is not good. Like, you need to fix that.
00:11:31
CODES
Like, you need to fix this. You need to fix that. He's not going to come and be like, oh, you're doomed because you the date you did that. That's in your right conscience. So those are two different things. And yeah, I learned not to punish myself for my mistakes because Jesus already did that and crossed for me.
00:11:46
CODES
Right? that's why sometimes it it was hard for me to take feedbacks because right before you gave me that feedback i've already beaten up myself a hundred times saying that i've failed in so many areas because i'm i'm quick to like dwell on the negative things that i've done than the positive things that i've done so it's something that God has learned to it's it's been a lot of perspective shifts growing you know but thank the lord for that and lastly The word of God works.
00:12:16
CODES
I've learned that over the years. It works. It makes sense.

Prayer and Divine Interventions

00:12:20
CODES
And it works. And it is my life. And being happy with who I am. Right. That's going to tie into the next episode that we're going to bring to you shortly. So stay tuned, guys.
00:12:32
CODES
One more thing. What I've also learned that prayers, prayers work a lot. takes It works. Prayers, travel, fire. It echoes in de different realms of the spirit, bringing results.
00:12:49
CODES
Trust me. were times, there were places that I know I could not speak for myself, and there are people who I couldn't like really say things to, but I told God about it. And prayer rested them. Yep. Now, let me give you an example. There was a time Becky and went to the same college my goodness. wanted to Wow. by fight feet okay or just put in that situation that we're roommates by the way do you have to share that wow i mean i'm saying it because jonathan kind of knows because i mean grandpa was actually the one who like took us whatever i just to say it but anyways but we're in that dorm it was a three flight it's really an old dorm it was like three how many flights were stayed like six or eight don't know story story there was no elevator elevator in that dorm right
00:13:36
CODES
So I forgot my folder for my class that I really needed because assignments were in there that I probably had to submit. and and the bus was probably going to leave to take us to campus very soon. So I thought about how long it's going to take me to climb all the way upstairs and come down. And guess what? It's not just my folder that I forgot, but I also forgot my phone.
00:13:59
CODES
So how was I going to be able to text my sister? There was literally no one inside that I could say, oh, you live on the third floor. Can you knock on my on my door and let my sister know to get this? Nobody at all.
00:14:10
CODES
All I had was God. It was really cold then. i was freezing. My feet, hands were hurting. I'm like, i can't I can't really go all the way up here. like I'm going to make it back in time for the bus.
00:14:21
CODES
I'm like, God, please, can you tell Rebecca to bring my folder and my phone downstairs to me, Lord? i cannot I don't have any way of communicating this. You're all my only literally my only communication line right now, Lord.
00:14:35
CODES
but guess what, guys? And Becky, fun fact, Becky was not even saved at that moment to even say that, oh, she heard from God or anything. So that's why i'm telling you, when you pray, God can speak to anybody.
00:14:50
CODES
The person doesn't even have to be saved. They don't even have to be in Christ. i I'm just trying to make a point here that He can really move hard hearts for your sake.
00:15:01
CODES
So it doesn't matter what difficult situation you're in. Tell it to God. Tell that problem to God because He is the only voice that you have, right?

Growth Through Patience and Preparation

00:15:10
CODES
I said that quick prayer to God and guess what?
00:15:12
CODES
I didn't even wait for that long. Becky walks down all the way from the third floor, no elevator or anything. She walked all the way down with my phone and my folder. I was laughing. I'm like, Becky, why are you bringing my folder? How did you know that I needed my phone and my folder? What was your response?
00:15:30
CODES
I said, i don't know what happened. I just brought it. so happy just run down my fold and my phone like Jesus every time that i remember that i'm like god is so real you cannot tell me god is so real so if you ever thinking that God does not hear you or He doesn't hear your prayers that you've been praying for so long keep praying keep praying because He hears pray until something happens He look like He's not answering but He fun He hears everything even to the t's and to dots like every single detail He hears it it doesn't matter if the person is in Christ or not He can command anyone to do His pleasures okay any last few words brother
00:16:17
CODES
i'll just bear one more yes go for it we've all heard this like many times but God's delay not and
00:16:29
CODES
in being a team being a twenty suit you We want our timeline to accelerate. That's crazy. Especially when we see other people and we see what what they're doing and the blessing that they're getting.
00:16:47
CODES
We want that to... live in a fast world right now. You can do it. You can get almost anything at the finger of your
00:16:58
CODES
Preach! its sure have you want one like everything is so technology technology i believe although we live in a fast world
00:17:14
CODES
my waiting
00:17:20
CODES
preach in isaiah 60 22 it says when the time is right i the Lord will make it happen the reason why He uses waiting seasons is to prepare us it's the process to develop us it's it's a yeah the pruning uh before Jesus went into ministry Jesus Himself had to wait before He started to do miracles david was appointed Sometimes as PKs, we know that we're anointed.
00:17:53
CODES
But even David was anointed. and After he was anointed, he didn't go to the palace. That's true. And he had to say a lot of things before he became king.
00:18:06
CODES
So, you know, being anointed does not mean we get to skip the process because it's a process. necessary part of the
00:18:19
CODES
If you're going through something right now, I just want
00:18:30
CODES
And He knows what needs to be pruned so that fruit...
00:18:44
CODES
and especially in this time we need we need good fruit uh to to be revealed we need good fruit for people to see believe that the fruit is only for us is for other people in that good for
00:19:13
CODES
God's working it out. He's preparing you for what's to come. His plans are great. It's amazing. It's awesome. beyond wildest imagination.
00:19:25
CODES
has something great in store for you. stay strong. That is so true. I love that. The pruning season is what's going to help you to stay in your calling.
00:19:37
CODES
Because when you're trying to run fast, you will fade off very fast from your calling.

Conclusion and Listener Engagement

00:19:43
CODES
You know, it's so true. There are some people who skip grades and then when they go into higher grades, they miss out on the developmental stages that they needed to go through.
00:19:54
CODES
They fade off very fast. And they feel like they cannot fit it into that higher grade that they skipped into because... from grade eight or let's say from grade second grade into eighth grade there's a whole chunk of development that needs to occur biologically mentally and everywhere but you skip that stage into a higher grade that's what you're going to miss out on a lot and you're not going to be able to feel
00:20:23
CODES
qualified or or a competent enough to face the challenges for that particular grade. All right, guys. With this, I hope that you are blessed and you learned a few things.
00:20:34
CODES
as we've learned in our teens and in our twenties. And if you have other things that you can relate with, please leave that in the comment. We're looking forward to reading what you've also learned in in in previous years years in your teens or in your twenties or whatever you're still learning about.
00:20:52
CODES
Would love to see it. And we're excited to read and hear from you guys. All right. and Thank you so much for joining us again on this particular episode. Looking forward to talking with you guys again.
00:21:06
CODES
Have a lovely day, guys, and thank you.
