Bear With Us, Episode 5: Catching up on the offseason

While the Seattle Sounders have not been particularly active this offseason, Will Bruin has been doing his best to get ready as close to the start of the season as possible. The good news is that he says he should be back in full training in less than a month and could plausibly be ready to start by the end of March.

Of course, all work and no play makes a bear go wild. Will found some time to visit family, as well as visit Hawaii while doing his best to keep up on the training regimen passed along by Sounders training.

We also got Will’s advice on things like managing a Seattle winter and proper Twitter etiquette.

Welcome back to another episode of the Will Bruin podcast that we're calling now bear with us, right? That's correct. I almost forgot. I was going to see your face. You kind of looked like you forgot what it was. Will Bruin lick it almost got the Jeremiah t-shirts. I know Jeremiah can bear with us episode like five.

MLS Cup Reflections and Stories

00:00:36
Speaker
Mm-hmm. Yeah, and we're hanging out. We're going to call it episode like five like five. Yeah, exactly. Look at five. I guess it also kind of depends on how you count the last episode, which was the triple cast last that we haven't talked to Will since I was cup.
00:00:53
Speaker
It's been busy. I know. Will has had a you've had a very busy offseason. What have you been up to? Let's start. Well, watching the guys win MLS Cup. Forget technical. I guess I want it to. But take it for what it is. You celebrated it like, oh, of course, you know, yeah, it doesn't happen often, whether it's or not. Ten years from now, I got that ring. Nobody's going to know I was out half the year. So that was your fourth participation in. Yeah.
00:01:17
Speaker
First time winning? So, fourth MOS Cup, I've had three participations. Lost three, one I wasn't participating in, one. Huh. It's just literally not me. No, those are just casual relationships. To add a little fuel to the fire, I left school early after my third year. A bunch of my roommates stayed for a fifth year. They won College Cup.
00:01:45
Speaker
So they all got hmm. They all got rings to this is Trey Muse ever tell you about that about the team He's like this. He was young. Yeah, were you on that team that one? He knows better than to speak to me like that. Oh, yeah I think you just missed it. Yeah, you would get You know slapped around a few times if he brought it up, but you know It's okay first time let's go
00:02:09
Speaker
So what was it? Where did you why were you in a were you in the stands family suite? Yeah, watching it was way more stressful watching than playing or like being on the bench and part of the game day stuff. Is that the suite that's in the north end? So we got new suites for MLS Cup. Yes, owners really, really took it up a nice notch. We had like an actual suite instead of the radio broadcast room for non dressing players. Yeah, that's crazy. You had to pay for your own food, though.
00:02:36
Speaker
No, but I'm I'm I'm sure I'll get a bill in the next few months or something. Here's a fifteen hundred dollar bill for exactly. It's an expensive chicken finger. Exactly. Yeah. Itemized water down to the last dollar. Right. So at what point in the game did it feel like like you took a breath after we scored the first. Yeah, because I feel like the longer it stayed zero zero, the better it was for Toronto. Yeah.
00:03:07
Speaker
And I missed Raul's goal because we all left and went down so we can make sure we got out to the field on time because we were in the whole opposite border of where the players come out. So miss that goal. Yeah. Yeah, I heard it. And we threw some clothes on for celebration and stuff. I would say 90 percent of the press box missed Josie's goal.
00:03:29
Speaker
It was just like everyone like I miss that too. Yeah people honestly after the game were like it was three one. Yeah I was one of those people. Yeah, I was one of those people down the I was like, oh, it's do nothing. Let's go down right exactly But that's the most dangerous score in soccer. Yeah, especially in the 80th minute or whatever. Yeah Whatever. I was like, I'm over three this surely it's not gonna be over four. I
00:03:52
Speaker
So was the did you get to see any of the pre-games like I don't know. Yeah. No, I was Pioneer Square. I was or not Pioneer Square Occidental. No, I was part of everything with the team. They I stayed at the hotel too and like everything. So that was that was cool. Schmetz wanted me to be, you know,
00:04:11
Speaker
with everybody. Yeah, everybody say no. Still had roommates. Nice. Who was your roommate? Justin. Yeah. Oh, good. Like, yeah, it's been nice. We've kind of made a nice little bond because we've roomed in Western Conference Final to in L.A. So I traveled for that, too. We room there together, too. So it's.
00:04:29
Speaker
Justin seems like a fun guy. Yes. Yeah, he's a good guy. Good guy. You ended up being like the star of the of the parade. That's so the parade. I was talking at the very end of the parade. I was joking with them, telling him, like, you got to give a speech like this is going to be a big deal like in the back. And he was freaking out.
00:04:45
Speaker
Freakin out. He's like, oh my god. What should I do? I was like, I don't know but you better be ready to tell him to sing No, and then he came up with that on his own and I was just like yeah, it's a great idea Justin You should do that not thinking all this would come to fruition and then it got back to Schmetzer that I was like riling them up and scaring him and Schmetz was like, all right We're making him do it and he did it and it backfired on me because it went well So now I'm like damn it
00:05:09
Speaker
And then you got up there and you were like sheepish. Yeah, I didn't wanna. I wasn't even expected all in. Well, you know.
00:05:17
Speaker
been injured since June. So it's like a point. Why do I want to be in the spotlight when I get it? I'm a veteran guy, part of the team. A lot of the guys that played were gone. Yeah, there was like, but it's like four guys have played there. Yeah. But it's like I've been out for this whole run in six months. I get it. I scored two goals against Toronto that year. But yeah, who's counting? Who remembers that? I look back at the end of the year. I'm like, you only have two goals this year. Will, what's wrong with you, man? Did they come? Yeah. But
00:05:48
Speaker
But yeah, I didn't want to take the spotlight from the guys that actually played and we're training all the time and doing everything to win. That was like Fry. Who else was at the Lidero? Fry, Kim, T. Heehee. We're the only three I think that played, right? Yeah. God. Should have made Kim give a speech. That would have been awesome. I know. I know.
00:06:07
Speaker
Yeah, we didn't get to see Kim Kihei's speech. I feel like we got robbed of that. Yeah, it would have been very quick. Yeah, I bet. What was it? Did you enjoy the did you enjoy the parade? It seemed like the players were getting into it kind of. Yeah, it was fun. We're trying, you know, because if we would have been just like, man.
00:06:25
Speaker
than it would have brought. Now that's all blown out of portion. All blown out of portion. I remember that now, right? Yeah, he was like teetering almost through the cup. So nobody said that we were pulling away. Last I heard was like, all right, five minutes. And then the bus driver just like floored it.
00:06:43
Speaker
Good thing, during this rehab, I've been working so much on balance. Yeah. That my balance was just, oh, my glutes were just so stable. And, you know, anybody else probably would have dropped it and fall off the bus and, you know, made a big ordeal. But I just regrouped, you know, it was nothing because it was nothing. You had the trophy at the time here, right? Yeah, he was lifting the trophy. You would have been a hero, though, if you had fallen off the bus and cradled the cup. So you did like, yeah, and did a tuck and roll. Yeah.
00:07:10
Speaker
Break my back, but save the cup. Yeah, it might be worth it. It would have been a legend. Yeah, it would have been nice. It was to be selling manscaped stuff. I was standing like almost right beneath you when that happened. And oh, if you crush that would have been better. I would have been more of a legend. I know I was standing actually next to Kelly from the staff. And what'd she say? Well, she was like, she just looked at me like, what just happened? Nothing happened. Everybody go on, move on.
00:07:40
Speaker
Yes, you acted like nothing happened. Because nothing did.
00:07:43
Speaker
But it was it would have it would have put it. I was telling it could have been a damper on things. Yeah, it will had died. Right. Yeah, that kind of would have put a damper on things. Yeah, that would have turned into like a procession. Right. That's very good. That's very good. Yeah. Like we will be doing this very little

Family and Personal Life

00:08:00
Speaker
rocket. Will. Will would want us to do this parade. I told I said we'll do it in memory. Yeah, I said the podcast life flashed before my eye. Yeah, exactly. Who cares about my life, the podcast life, those dollars. Yeah, just all those purple mattresses. Yeah.
00:08:13
Speaker
Yeah, so you spent a lot of the offseason trying to get purple to send you free I'm done with them. Yeah, I'm done with them. I don't have that Johnny Campbell touch like sent you like a generic thing like oh Yeah, just like offensive. That's what I said. I still applied No nothing sweet. What do you mean to bug Casper now? Is that what you know? I'll give purple like
00:08:37
Speaker
Toughed until the end of preseason. Okay, but all right after that actually Masters might just be put on on the side for a while You could walk into that. What you need to do is walk into the you district showroom. They have a showroom I know and say I am an ambassador Hi, I'm Will Bruin. I'd like to be an ambassador. Have you heard a bear with us? Yeah Yeah, I mean, I don't know, you know, we can we'll throw the weight of the podcast around a little bit See if we can get them to sponsor the podcast send you a free. Let's just do the actual episode in their showroom just like
00:09:06
Speaker
You know? Yeah. Why not? You could. Right on the bed. Exactly. See this is, you can't even hear the, it's like dampening. Will's jumping up and down right now. You can't even tell. Right. You can't even tell. So what else did you do this off? So you went to Hawaii? Went to Hawaii. Everybody got sick. Everyone. Everybody like my wife, myself and Liam.
00:09:26
Speaker
and all timed out perfectly for the whole trip. So it was just dandy. One of the things that we talked about on here was whether or not you should get that extra seat for Liam. Did you get the extra seat? We did and never gonna fly without it now. It's like a game changer.
00:09:45
Speaker
Really is because you don't have to worry about somebody in your row bothering them just the space. Yeah, exactly and It's just like you got your whole space now on the plane. So it's just like I can you had your whole row Yeah, I can never go back to not doing it. I'm just gonna start sending you bills for for the third seat We went to Maui and
00:10:11
Speaker
Funny story. The one night we got to go out to dinner, Caitlin and I, before Liam just caused a whole stink little trip.
00:10:21
Speaker
We went to a place on Morimoto, which is on the resort we stayed at. Best sushi I've ever had. But I got the chef's sampler. It's like 35, 40 pieces of sushi. Oh. So I was like, all right, I'm going to prep myself for this. Finished it all. And then the waiter comes back and he's like, oh, man, I've only seen two other people finish this. Finish this. And they were both Japanese.
00:10:48
Speaker
I was like, Oh my gosh. So the only white guy to do it. Take your picture and put it on the wall. No. Cause we were like, all right, well, Liam's been good. We got to, we got to get back. So who, but I didn't need for like three more days. You just like get one off the resort babysitter. We're talking about, no, I'm just kidding. There's a thing called Maui connection where.
00:11:10
Speaker
You get, you find a babysitter on there, it's all background checked and we found, we had the same lady through the whole time and she was awesome. It's like your prototypical grandma coming and watching. So like the last two days we were just like so fed up with each other and everything that we were just, we paid for to come over for the whole day and said, you just take them, you deal with them. We're going to go sit by the beach. So it was like a little, we salvaged a little bit at the end, but
00:11:34
Speaker
Traveling we tried to make the most of it because we're like we're in Hawaii. Yeah one-year-olds one name one. Yeah, he was there. He's only he'll be Ten months in a week But here's the thing that like rub doesn't rub me the wrong way But he's never been sick in his life until we get to Hawaii so I already know I'm gonna get everything I gave my parents for him and
00:11:55
Speaker
Oh, yeah. It's just timing you saving it up. Yeah, he was. And then we get back. Well, granted to him, he's been on so many different time changes in December. But we get back to Seattle. First night sleeps great, of course, in his own bed. Eleven hours. No problem. I'm just like, I can't stand you right now. But then we go to Indiana and St. Louis for the holidays, make it one big trip, two weeks drive between and then fly out of St. Louis.
00:12:25
Speaker
Same thing. He's good the first like few days in Indiana because we're in Indiana for a week. He's good there. And then he starts getting sick again because one of Caitlin's friends have two kids and one of their kids was sick. And the last day in Indiana, we thought it'd be a good idea to go see them and say bye. So then Liam gets sick the whole time in St. Louis at my house with my family. And I just FaceTime my mom this morning and now she's sick.
00:12:53
Speaker
Still, same thing, not sleeping well, we gotta get up. The grandparents were good at rocking him and letting us sleep. Hawaii, we didn't have that. And then we get back to Seattle. Oh, what do you know? 11 hours straight, no problem. I'm just like, you are just messing with me now.
00:13:10
Speaker
So I find that grandparents fall into two main categories. There's the grandparents that say, give us your child. We would like, while you're here, we'll take care of them. Or there are grandparents that are like, let me know when they're six. And then we'll go on play dates. But that's all I'm interested in. Oh, nice. You have kids. Right, exactly.
00:13:35
Speaker
one of each of those my my dad is like a just give us the kid send him to our house we'll take care of him and my mom is like i'll take the older one yeah like that's not helpful mom yeah what so what are both sets of grandparents we have are i mean
00:13:53
Speaker
Honestly, I wouldn't put up with it if they were like, no, because it's like they live in the Midwest. You both live four and a half hours away via flight. You're going to take the kid when you get it. You don't have a choice. Is it their first grandkids? No. No. OK. For either pair. No. First boy.
00:14:10
Speaker
Oh, yeah So but no, but I don't need to do that. They're both they're both great both sets are great They're they'll take them whenever and they're happy to take them. So we'll get your real answer out there Yeah, I'll fill you guys in later Caitlin. They're great, right? Exactly So you're back and you've been training getting getting healthy. What's it looking like as far as been trained by myself the last like month Great. Yeah. No, it's kind of the attention of the trainers
00:14:41
Speaker
Yeah, but Jake our massage therapist I've been making him do the rehab runs with me and that's just like it's been awesome because he's been so good it because it gets really monotonous and
00:14:53
Speaker
Depressing at times by yourself doing doing it all when it's this weather outside. It's like snowing and raining You're you're like, why am I doing this? Yeah, not great Why am I the team's not even out here for me to watch them right? And then the grounds crews like cutting the grass and you just feel like you're in their way And they're trying to get the fields ready. I'm like, let me do my rehab guys
00:15:14
Speaker
This is actually this is your second Seattle winter, right? Third, third, third. Yeah. This will be my fourth year coming up. So your first real. Yeah. But you don't really pay attention to it like when you're new to the city. Right.

Rehabilitation and Career Reflections

00:15:26
Speaker
Right. That's what it means. Like this is the first time you actually pay attention. Yeah. It's like two hours of light. This honestly, I was just going to get into it. This is the first time I've really paid attention and been like, why does the sun set so early and rise so late? Right. And then now with the baby, I'm up at like five thirty or six and I'm like, oh my God, it's like a whole day until the sun comes up. Yeah.
00:15:44
Speaker
Yeah. When you have, so before I had kids, I was very rarely ever up before. I think the kids really change it. Nope. But now, especially now that my, my oldest is in school, so she's start school at eight o'clock. So you're, we're up at, I'm up at six 45 every day. It's dark for an hour. Yeah.
00:16:01
Speaker
I wish I could sleep till 6 45. Oh, my God, really? I wish Liam would let me. I think so. Going back to the time zone thing in December, he was on Hawaii time, which is two hours behind Seattle, Seattle time. Then he went to East Coast time, three hours ahead of Seattle. And then he went to Midwest time, one hour, two hours ahead of Seattle, one hour behind East Coast time. And then back to Seattle time. So I'm trying to give him a little break. But at the same time, I need the best standards for my kid. He needs to deal with it. Yeah.
00:16:30
Speaker
So how is how is rehab going good you you what's your timeline you feel like it's going it's going really well Obviously, I've never been through this. Thank God knock on wood. Hopefully I never go through it again, but You know, I had my six-month anniversary yesterday But
00:16:52
Speaker
It's been really good not to have any hiccups through the first six months and hit all my milestones really well, all my testing is going well. But the big thing will be the month of training unrestricted, which I can start full training in February, mid-February. And then once I have a full month of full training, no restrictions, no setbacks, then I can get cleared by Dr. Morris and that should be end of March.
00:17:22
Speaker
And so are you going to travel with the team, go to something? Yeah, I'll do all the preseason stuff, Mexico City, Southern California, and then I'll probably fly back from Mexico City to Seattle and not make the Honduras trip for Champions League. Obviously, I won't be cleared to play.
00:17:40
Speaker
By then, but you know, I'll be back for Champions League, assuming we keep advancing. I'll be hopefully back. Hopefully my target date is to be back for that first trip to Nashville, which is the first week of April. I always try to nudge them a little bit of both.
00:18:00
Speaker
But I was just going to say, I try to nudge them to get me going sooner because I've been hitting all my milestones really well. But at the same time, they're like, look, each month that goes by, you have a 25 percent increase in like re-injury not happening. So I'm just like, yeah, my mindset is like, get back as soon as possible. But now I'm 30. I'm like, you know, make sure I come back.
00:18:25
Speaker
As quick as possible, but safe as possible and as strong as possible, right? And really in the grand scheme and it's april. Yeah, you know, I mean it's four league games Champions league whatever it is what it is. Um, I just want to make sure when I come back i'm 100 confident 100 ready and if it's Like it's all going well right now. So I should should be good. Is it uh, this is the knee. Are you going to stage your uh, Knee where it's you're not thinking about anywhere. Yeah. No, like i'm even right now. Just not even
00:18:54
Speaker
So like before the two weeks I had before the two weeks in Indiana and St. Louis, like they actually gave me time off. I was like, wow, you guys are being nice. But then they sent me a whole PDF of stuff to do there. And I said, I'll do half of this if you're lucky. I'll eat a lot of desserts. But.
00:19:14
Speaker
So I had I was having like patella pain before that and then when I came back, she's disappeared. Yeah. Oh, nice. So it's like time, unfortunately, is like your best friend with this. And you always you always try to push it as much as you can. But so how would you rate the difference in difficulty in training to come back from an injury versus regular training?
00:19:37
Speaker
This like I'm in call it phase two right now. I'm sure that the trainers and stuff would correct me and say this is phase two for BQX. But this has been.
00:19:51
Speaker
super hard part and harder than any trainings like I mean it's not like harder than the hardest training I've ever done but like regular season training and a rhythm my rehab right now is harder than that because it's longer days or emotionally
00:20:08
Speaker
Physically because I do like all my prep work now because I've never been a big prep guy like I go out I do 5v2 I'm ready to go now They're like you got a prep for an hour. You gotta do this you gotta do that just to go out and play like okay calm it down and then I go out and I do all my stuff and like on Quality our quantity days. They're like hard on the field a lot of fitness related stuff and then they're like, alright, you know, you got a really heavy lower body lift and
00:20:36
Speaker
And those lower body lifts that I'm doing now take hour and a half because it's just so much stuff because they really need to. You need to get your quad going again. You need your hamstring. Everything just needs to be pulling. So you're not putting torque through your knee. And it's like in the season, I'll do a lift and I'll be like 20 minutes. You know what I mean? Just because you're focusing on playing.
00:20:56
Speaker
So it's just the whole process, but our whole staff has been awesome. Does it give you more appreciation for like having those? So I told Cornish, so Cornish, Paul, Jake and Hillary are whole like our immediate staff. I said, if I come back and obviously my goal is to be back is.
00:21:15
Speaker
be the best player I can. And obviously the goal is you want to get like Jordan did come back player of the year. I said, if I come back and I get come back player of the year, you all need races immediately ASAP. Like that's back to back years coming out of your hell no hell no.
00:21:30
Speaker
I say you go to Garth right now and you tell him look. Say you tell him look. I had two of them. Just so you know Garth, I guaranteed all five of these people raises. And you need to not make me look good. He shouldn't have a problem with that because look at that. Absolutely. But then again I'll probably still get an invoice for the chicken fingers from the sweet in the MLS Cup.
00:21:55
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, it is. It is just kind of a funny thing that they did such a good. Does Jordan's experience actually give you some more? Like, does it? I don't know, because we hear anecdotally or you see on the field like, oh, they had all this trouble with injury and stuff. But when you're going through it, I'm assuming you're paying much closer attention to how that's going and like.
00:22:21
Speaker
Like I'll do jumping now, like jump testing is a really big thing with them. And if my knee comes in just like a centimeter, like quit bringing your knee in, like, what are you doing? I'm like, first of all, shut the F up. My knees not coming in. Everybody get off my back. So they're really like.
00:22:38
Speaker
particular on things, which is good. OK, so this off season so far for the Sounders has been mostly about departures. There's only been one new guy brought in so far. But I would imagine emotionally the biggest loss has been Johnny football. Oh, I don't know. How are you now? Should we have a moment of silence? I think so. Pour one out.
00:22:59
Speaker
All right, that's good enough. So I'm guessing you're bummed that Johnny is not here to kick around anymore. Johnny's a good guy. I know we can still kick him around. We'll still keep in contact with him. But, you know, I feel like now he's going to really raise this Instagram game even more. Yeah. Yeah. More mopos. Exactly. But I had a conversation with Harry about this. Like what happens now? Like.
00:23:23
Speaker
because he hasn't landed anywhere yet. So what does Lululemon and Chili Pad do with them? You know what I mean? These are all things that need to be talked about. He went to his old elementary school the other day. That was actually kind of a cool little thing. Nice. I'm still following on Instagram. Is Harry angling to become the new Johnny? No, no, no. Harry never posts, never wants that spotlight. It takes a certain person. But he demands on other areas, is he now the receptacle of all your guys'
00:23:51
Speaker
No, because, you know... Does he need to be? No, because... Maybe he needs to be, yeah. It's good that he's back. I was very happy to be back. But at the same time, like...
00:24:01
Speaker
I'm going to be one of the oldest guys on the team, and I'm 30. I like to think I'm not that old. Harry's, what, 27, 28 now? He's going to be one of the older guys. Gustav? Oh, Gustav. Yeah. Pretty Swedish. That doesn't matter. Yeah, they're both like Scandinavian. Get out. We got to get them out of here. But you really are the oldest person on the team. Yeah. Whoo. Aside from New Who, but no. No.
00:24:27
Speaker
Old soul soul. There you go. But yeah, it's crazy. I never thought this day would come where I'm the old guy. The old bitter guy kind of a punch, right? You're like, it's like that day where you look around and you're like, wait a minute, they don't all have this. I'm they're asking me what it was like when how it's supposed to be. I really had a reality check the other day. I was talking to Schmetz just like hanging out, talking no big deal. And he was like, that's
00:24:53
Speaker
This is going to be your 10th year. I was like, yep. And then I was like, yeah, sounders have been a club in MLS for 11 years. You're as old. You're as old as the sound. Yeah. That's what I'm just like.

Team Dynamics and Future Plans

00:25:05
Speaker
Oh, my God. No, just so I don't feel edit in. Hello, darkness, my old friend. Hello, darkness, my old friend.
00:25:13
Speaker
So what was the does the team even look at the fact that there's not really been any signings? Are you just looking forward to getting back to training and you say all the guys here are great? That's what we need. Yeah, I mean if we're gonna take Champions League serious, we need signings
00:25:31
Speaker
Just might be more than one center back. Yeah Hold on. This is my chance to put me at center back All I need is a chance every all you want as a player is opportunity we talked about your longevity in a career exactly I think if I get a chance at center back, I think I can do well Can you imagine against a national?
00:25:52
Speaker
Yeah, if I get best here comes yeah, but if I get pissed I'll just wreck somebody if I get pissed like I go from zero to 100 real quick. Yeah
00:26:04
Speaker
I just love the idea of like Will Bruin coming off the bench. I think I can play out of the back decently too. Coming off the bench. What are you talking about? We have one center back. I could be right into a starting role. Yeah, I'm sorry. Jeremiah, why do you associate? My name was straight off the bench. Wow. Well, I was just thinking it was a little early for you to come back from. I've got what? Seventy one, seventy two goals in the league. I'm going to get to 100 before I retire. I already got that. And this guy, this guy will bruin off the bench.
00:26:31
Speaker
Matt, Matt Doyle, I feel like, was the one who predicted you would score 100 goals. I know. I got it. He's my boy. I got to keep him. Make sure he's right. Right. Exactly. I love that you said my back throughout my career. I know we have like an unspoken. Absolutely. You shoot. You got to keep those kind of guys in mind. So other than that, what's your how are you feeling going into this? Does it feel like this is how you envisioned going into play this out? We'd asked you six months ago.
00:26:59
Speaker
Will, where are you gonna be in six months? Where are the sounders gonna, does this feel like it's factoring in how old you are now? Factoring in the age. My face is age, so like 10 years, but. He's got a new car, by the way. I heard this. It was like a present to myself for 10 years and then an ACL and a baby and Hawaii not being fun and everything. When you came back from Hawaii, you were like, new car, that's it. Well, I actually
00:27:27
Speaker
I looked at my Jeep and I said, oh my God, this thing's got dents and scratches. I went from a Winstar to a Jeep when I went from college to professional. Winstar is a van. Ford Winstar, yeah. I feel like we were driving, was that your old parents car? Yeah. They gave me a free car. That's dope. What do I expect, something nicer? I don't know. I'll take what I get. I drove that to college, I drove it down to Houston when I got drafted, put all my stuff in it, took it to my first day of training.
00:27:57
Speaker
Brad Davis, Jeff Cameron, Bobby Boswell, killed me. Next day, went and bought a Jeep. Jeep Liberty. Well, that only lasted one day. I had a few weeks. But still, your decision was made that day. It was funny, DeAndre Yedlen, this was obviously before your time with the Sounders, but DeAndre Yedlen for a long time, his whole time with the Sounders, he was driving this Subaru, his old beat up Subaru that his grandparents or whatever had given him.
00:28:24
Speaker
And it was like this point of pride and he had, it was like this kind of blue collar thing. And now to look at DeAndre, not to get into this, but like you would never guess that this is a guy who was driving a 98 Subaru for the first two years of his career. Well, I mean, that's kind of how I feel like.
00:28:41
Speaker
getting rid of my GPS like oh man this is like changing the turning a chapter I know you're gonna come out cuz I used to not care about like now I'll never do that but I I used to not care about like if I ran into something whatever it's the Liberty right now I'm like people don't park close to me like I gotta put the windows in or

Humor and Advice Segment

00:28:59
Speaker
the mirrors it's crazy double part I feel like an adult now
00:29:07
Speaker
Honestly, honestly, I feel like more of an adult buying this car than having than Caitlin having Liam.
00:29:14
Speaker
You can say you having young it's okay. Yeah, I didn't it's very very I think it was the first official day of training 14 Is that in Starfire? Yes, so you're gonna you're gonna double park right for the first day I'll probably just pull it like to the field. Oh, just leave it right there Just click it it's still running. Yeah, of course
00:29:41
Speaker
Drives itself right exactly just put it in I go keep it running mode and just drives up Absolutely. All right. Well, we're gonna I think that we'll take a break and we're gonna come back. We're gonna get some advice We're gonna do some fun stuff like that. We have another segment idea. We want to run by you as well. Oh, yeah Yeah, you're listening to bear with us
00:30:09
Speaker
Welcome back to bear with us. We, uh, let's start out with this new segment idea. I want to pitch this to you. So the kids these days, the teens, they have this thing spill the tea. It's like gossip. Are you aware of this concept? Yeah. All right. Well, anyway, it's a thing and they say, Oh,
00:30:32
Speaker
I don't want to spill the tea, but and the new lingo. Yeah, it's like gossip, right? And so the idea of the segment would be a tea or no tea. And I would name a team like I would say, oh, the New England Revolution. And then you would say, oh,
00:30:49
Speaker
And we're like, oh, you know something about this gossipy about the same. And then we would progress and say, do you want to spill the tea? And you could say yes or no. So what do you think, Will? Are we going to start talking trash about? I don't have too much gossip to give because what I know I usually just say, but it's not gossip is tea. Sorry. Sorry. I don't have much tea.
00:31:12
Speaker
But I feel like I need to like Come back strong before I start. Okay, you know smacking my lips together too too quickly Yeah, once I score some goals coming back then I can start doing it. Okay, that's I think a fair position to take so So let's go ahead a few more episodes from them. Yeah, we're gonna move into the advice questions. We This is a become my personal favorite segment on the show. Yeah, it's called dear will Bruin and if you have any
00:31:42
Speaker
I don't know you have any burning need for advice I would urge you to email or tweet us suffer mattress advice because apparently that's a yeah apparently they aren't like as yeah I would read that the actress company was like big business and they were like dying for
00:31:58
Speaker
like influencers like Will, but I don't know. They're they're missing out. They're big time. They probably got Campbell. Right. Exactly. So this first one was from someone named Rev Mike Boone. And he says, I am from Florida, but I'm now in Washington. So what's your go to snow activity or snack?
00:32:19
Speaker
We never end Mike Boone. We might get rained out. We might get snowed out next week. What's your plan for training? Have they talked to you about this? No. Talk to us about stuff in advance. Come on. Let's be serious. Get to work from home. Oh, yeah. I can send videos of me doing like glute bridges. All right. We have it. There you go.
00:32:38
Speaker
You know on a nice snow day, I like to make a fire. But I also like to have soup, but I think those are two generic things. Super chilly. I remember last year there was a big thing and over at Queen Anne, people went, well we moved in about like a little over a year ago, so we were still new. And I think that's actually a great idea. I think if there is a snow day, we might take Liam's lead.
00:33:04
Speaker
Can you, are you in a, so I know you're in Beacon Hill, but are you near an area that you would feel safe sledding down the street? Assuming that I would, I would say McClellan because they shut it down, but it's so steep that no, it would be like a Christmas vacation.
00:33:24
Speaker
I'm sure I could find somewhere because there's like when we take our dog on our normal routine walk. There's some small hills big hills Okay. Yeah, I we feel like that's one of the great Seattle traditions is even we don't get a ton of snow here But we just go down my driveway. It's pretty steep. I've heard you. Yeah, I know you should have reminded me of that right now I forgot about that
00:33:43
Speaker
If 23rd shut down, then which I don't know if they really shut down 23rd, but if it shut down, you can just go right across that tree. Yeah, exactly. Right. Oh, no, it's kind of high up. So and the driveway goes around it. So I would go out and twenty third like into the neighbor's yard. But the neighbor's house would slow me down.
00:34:01
Speaker
Yeah, there's like one of the it's like a very challenging city to drive in when there's lots of snow, but the upside is plenty of sledding spots. Yeah, that'd be fun. Yeah, sledding is an American pastime. I totally agree. So this one's from Unforgiven Tater and he says, help, I'm defusing a bomb. Do I cut the blue wire or the red wire?
00:34:27
Speaker
You always got to go with the blue, right? I don't know you I don't know it could be a mind trick like you think red's bad What if they're just like yeah, they'll never cut the red. Yeah, I think his speed they went for the blue and they want for the red I may be backwards, but they blue no Yeah, yeah, um I say just bomb makers your story straight exactly
00:34:51
Speaker
I say neither and then hope you can get out of there. Oh, that's fair. Yeah, fair. Just getting yourself driving far and having to take you away. Right. Exactly. All right. This one is from SP the ghost is I get very hot when I sleep. Although right now, is that a problem? Do you have any recommendations for keeping cool while you are sleeping? This might blow your mind. Yeah. Okay. Get ready for this. Yeah. Girding. Well,
00:35:21
Speaker
a fan a fan yeah do you have air conditioning in your home no fancy will no one pants it you look who you're talking to fancy will really how many times is your as Caitlin said to you
00:35:35
Speaker
Will, we gotta get an air conditioner. A lot and the only, well she likes it. Like she sleeps so much better when it's warm. Like it's 68 in the house and she's like, I'm so cold. Like it's so hot in here. But, cause I sleep hot, really hot. And the only thing she talked to me into is getting an air conditioning unit for Liam's room.
00:35:57
Speaker
But only one just one. Yeah, no chili pads or anything chili pads like it's way too expensive man Like Johnny's just got a monopoly on the chili pads I can get time for that
00:36:10
Speaker
It is. I feel like it's kind of a rite of passage. If you're going to own a Seattle home, I kind of feel like you go through phases. Yeah, it's like there's two weeks in the summer at most where you're like, I can't believe we don't have an air. I don't think our house is like split level. So we go downstairs and it's literally 15 degrees cooler down there. And we got a guest room down there. So I'll sleep down there and send Caitlin upstairs. Nice.
00:36:32
Speaker
Also, a pullout bed right by the Xbox and the TV. So it depends on how I'm feeling. But I want to just hang out and play. Got the mini fridge down there, too. So it can be a whole thing. I can just like lock myself down there. So you guys have a little bear cave. Literally. Yeah. Yeah. That was a pun. I know. I feel like that.
00:36:53
Speaker
Yeah, so I guess the recommendation is get a bear with us cave SP. Yeah, I am I this person at a s necked. I don't know that's ass necked ass necked. All right. So this is my friend's neighbors moved in two months ago. They have two dogs that bark constantly. They're great people otherwise, but oblivious to this problem while mowing while mowing, his dogs are barking at his two year old by their fence. He ignores it.
00:37:23
Speaker
Wait, the dogs are barking at his son, his two year old? While knowing his dogs are barking at his two year old by the fence. I think I think he probably. So he puts like the kids and the dogs outside saying the new neighbors, the friends, new neighbors are barking. His dogs are barking at his friends, two year old. So what do you yeah. How do you deal with neighbors, dogs that are like out of control?
00:37:49
Speaker
What do you think? That's a tough one. Because they're good people. They're not out of control people. I mean, if they're good people and you can get a good relationship with them, I think you just have a night with them, grab some drinks, have fun, and then just be like, look, what's wrong with your dogs? Yo. No, you're not aggressive about it, but you just say like, man, your dogs bark a lot or just something like that where they get the point. Hopefully they get the point and.
00:38:14
Speaker
They move on but like if it's really getting bad then you just kind of you have to Address it you can't just it's not worth Really bugging you that much and like letting it just go on and on because it's probably not bugging them if they just let it happen They're used to it, but how do you deal with I mean people that have I feel like I know people are fickle like about dogs Especially like they have very different. I I
00:38:38
Speaker
So I hate dogs that just like bark all the time. And my dog, like when somebody comes home, she goes nuts. And I just like scream at her because I can't take it. It's like just calm yourself down. It's just the garage door going up like it's not a big deal. Shut the F up. Like loud dogs are usually indicative of other problems. Yeah. But like when she's outside, she's chill. Like the only time she barks is when the garage door or somebody somebody comes home and she's so excited that she can't help but bark.
00:39:06
Speaker
How is the dog taking to the kid, by the way? Awesome. Awesome. They love each other. Like, I'll show you this picture. Yes. Good podcast. Yeah, exactly. It's great. He's like, I guess, you know,

Music and Personal Interests

00:39:23
Speaker
come. Oh, they're like, that's like the dog soup. So the dog is on the couch on the couch and that belongs. I'm sure that's. Yeah, that's her favorite toy. Like, that's Molly's favorite toy. And Liam knows it.
00:39:36
Speaker
and Liam like go get it and give it to her and be like here you can have your toy back.
00:39:40
Speaker
But Molly knows not to like grab it out of his hand. If you're listening, that's the cutest picture that needs to get on your Instagram. That's going to get a thousand likes more than the more than the blow up, blow up the couch thing. Oh, yeah, that was wild. I don't remember. Like, I don't I don't know what gets a lot of likes on Instagram. Like some things I put up like this, a lot of likes. It doesn't get any some things I put up and I'm like, it's not going to get a lot. It gets a lot. So, you know, I don't know. I got to consult with Campbell.
00:40:08
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, definitely. So this one's from Alan. How are you? Alonzy. Alonzy Rachel. Alonzy Rachel. If you were to have one record to listen to the rest of your life, what would it be? That's a good question. You were in an Eric Church hat. I know.
00:40:25
Speaker
Like the rest of my life, like the album I love right now is What You See Is What You Get. I made a joke with it. You joke about it with you guys earlier. I don't think either of you guys got it. But it's it's called What You See Is What You Get by Luke Combs. It's his newest album. That's like a success with it right now. It's a country album. Yeah. OK. But mostly you're is that what's mostly in your country? And then I throw also a country. No.
00:40:49
Speaker
What is her she's like rap and hip-hop? I'm like, are you serious? But yeah exactly but one album for the rest of my life Can it be like a greatest hits album? I really like like Queen's greatest hits. Oh, which one? It's one and two both of them combined. Yeah, cuz I listen I just put it on their greatest hits and it rolls through both
00:41:15
Speaker
But I've been in not to get off topic too much. I kind of want to get your show. I want to get one of those vinyl records and start collecting actual records like as I was at Kohl's the other day in Indiana. Yeah. Yeah. And you can you can buy them and start playing actual vinyl. Did you have an actual record player? No, that's what I'm saying. Like I saw it at Kohl's. You can get a record player and start buying vinyls.
00:41:39
Speaker
Oh, yeah, there's something I want to say. I'm just saying it's it's a hobby. Yeah, it's a real hobby. I know. There's probably four. But there's also there's one I saw that also connects to Bluetooth and and also you can still play. The friends that I have that collect records or play records, they're like one guy gets up at like five in the morning to go stand in front of record shop to get. I mean, I'm already up at that time. But I mean, I know that's I'm not like that's where that goes. Yeah, no, no. OK, maybe I should stay away from it and keep my. No, I think you should get it.
00:42:09
Speaker
I don't have that many Albums I will but that's good into but you will probably probably if I had to listen to one album rest my life I think it'll be a Brantley Gilbert halfway to heaven
00:42:23
Speaker
It's a mix between country and rock. It's his first album And I think artists early albums are always their best So this one's from nick shargus What's so he wants to know what's the hardest part besides rehab? Wait after after missing so much time

Balancing Personal and Team Success

00:42:45
Speaker
last season. What was the hardest part besides rehab? Also, what was the best part?
00:42:51
Speaker
hardest part, um, coming to terms with the injury and how long it was going to take. And then also like, I don't want it to sound like selfish, but like watching the team have so much success at the end, I think that's totally understandable, but at the same time, that was the best part watching the team have so much success. You know what I mean? Cause I'm still part of the team still on the roster still get the ring one for, um, but
00:43:20
Speaker
It's bittersweet. Yeah. Without getting too sentimental, but it's tough, but good. It puts a different perspective on things. What was your team growing up? Like, what was the team that you were most, most like emotionally invested in as a youth? The St. Louis Rams.
00:43:42
Speaker
So you were probably like in greatest show on turf when they were college. No, I was in like high school, eighth grade, maybe. Oh, eight. Yes. OK. So this is how much this old. I forget how long ago that came from that. Yeah. So Amsterdam. What was more satisfying for you as a fan, seeing the Sounders win last year or when the Marshawn Falk, Isaac Bruce, Kurt Warner teams, a Marshawn Falk.
00:44:11
Speaker
Marshall fault. Yeah, there you go. Yeah, I thought I said Marshall at fault. I think I did great show on turf. Yeah. I was I was a Bruce Torrey Holt, Ricky Pearl, Torrey Holt. Yeah, Torrey Holt was good. He was the number one for Anderson, but it was a different era. Who was the tight end? It was a good tight end. I remember the brain fart. But that team Orlando Pace left tackle Dick Vermeule. Yeah, he was a great coach.
00:44:37
Speaker
Dick Vermeel and the D line have a lot of similarities. The D line was great. Leonard Little. Why is that all I'm remembering right now? Because the line was so good.
00:44:49
Speaker
The all the Rams teams like run together. I wanted to say Robert Quinn, but that was so much later London Fletcher was on yeah, he was linebacker and back Dre Bly Dexter McLean. Oh, yeah, this is like good stuff here Oh, Kevin Carter, that's who I was saying. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So what was so what do you think you got more emotional satisfaction? I've watching that team win the Super Bowl or watching the Sounders Sounders like by far. Yeah, cuz I was part of it. Okay And I was older Okay, so
00:45:18
Speaker
It is more sad. I feel like when you win, I just remember like watching the Rams. I was so young that I was just like, oh, cool. I think I was 13 years old or something. I was like, oh, sweet. Yeah. But I don't remember what they did during the year. I just remember. I remember Ricky Prohl catching the ball in the back of the end zone against the Buccaneers to send us to the Super Bowl and then winning the Super Bowl against the Titans. And then Jeff Fisher trying to come back and win a Super Bowl. The Rams never happened. But
00:45:46
Speaker
Steve McNair trying to get him in the end zone. Didn't happen. One yard line. You guys know who tackled him at the one yard line? Oh, Mike Jones. Yes, sir. Mike Jones, the rapper. No, no.
00:46:02
Speaker
That was good. Well, that brings us to our last question. Whoa. This one is from someone named Lickit. Oh, my God. Yeah. What's the nicest way to tell a friend that they are terrible at spelling? They're asking for this friend on this friend's behalf. Well, you know, I've been thinking about this, I think.
00:46:24
Speaker
If the friend is really bad at like spelling on Twitter or something. Right. I think maybe you just respond with a tweet that is making fun of them. Just put everything spelt wrong. Oh, maybe see if they get it. Oh, you know. But I don't see how you can do it because auto correct would be like you're spelling this wrong. Like stop what you're doing. Right. How could you do this? How would you send this tweet out? Spelt wrong. Yeah.
00:46:49
Speaker
It's, you know, I think what happens to people in general, not that I have ever put myself in these shoes, but I'm just thinking out loud. Like you get wrapped up in getting it out instead of getting it right. And sometimes you just hit tweet, you hit that send button. What about a little proofread for two seconds? What about that? Like who's going to beat you to putting something out? Let's say if you use the word earlier in the tweet and then you misspell it later in the tweet.
00:47:15
Speaker
Right, huh? Yeah, that's a tough one. Yeah, that's tough. I don't know how to fix this. We need to call Apple or something. Yeah. How can I make Apple? How do we I think what needs to do better spellcheck the econology? Yeah. Yeah. So, you know, I mean, they're they're stocks up to like, what, three ten, then they

Car Stories and Humor

00:47:34
Speaker
can figure it out. This guy knows the stock price. Yeah. Well, it's only because I sold it at like 170.
00:47:41
Speaker
You sold your Apple stock at 170. You're that guy. One ninety five. Wow. Well, it's not only is he got a family to see. No kidding. Got diapers, you know, and no. So he afforded the Audi. Oh. It's a loner. He says, OK, so what happens when you drive a Jeep Liberty for 10 years as a professional? You start feeling the drop. Imposter syndrome when you're driving around in the in the Audi.
00:48:10
Speaker
Yeah, no, but I feel like I notice more Audi's now. Yeah, but I look at and I feel like everybody's a q7 I'm like, oh my god, you guys are like Way higher than me doing I just we need to say where it's from so that you know, you like it's a shout out to Audi Seattle Okay, John, let's go But You know, I just got the q5 and
00:48:33
Speaker
It's nice and comfortable for me. Feels good. The technology in it like these days are crazy. And I'm sure people listening to it are like, I've had this technology forever. Yeah. Let me take you through my car history. I drove a 2002 white Ford Winstar in college.
00:48:50
Speaker
I took it down to Houston when I got drafted. That's a minivan. It's like a family old to sliding doors to not even the automatic button. You can't even push the button in the open. You have to slide them open. One of them had a one of them had a huge dent in it. Yeah. So we would take it around like when we were sophomores, we would take it around move in day, move in a week at Indiana and open the side doors, but who wants to get in?
00:49:13
Speaker
But so then I upgraded to a 2011 Jeep Liberty after you took it down to Houston after all the veterans on Houston just like Killed me for driving this minivan like literally destroyed me So then I got the Liberty and had it ever since and this is gonna be my tenth year in the league So I figured like, you know, why not? You're an old man now. So you guys are a two-car family to car family. What's Caitlin driving?
00:49:44
Speaker
Other than she drives that 2015 cheap Grand Cherokee. So I made a rule the other day, the other day after you bought this new car, like, no, like knowing I was going to buy it like the day before. Oh, oh, oh. Oh, good. You know, you know, this probably went over really well. So then I said, like, all right, well, I've had my car for nine years. I'll bump it down one year. There's a new rule. You can't get a new car in this house till you have great years. So she's got three more years till she can get a new car.
00:50:12
Speaker
You know, that's the rule. That's how it is. Hey, it's no new Bruin family rule. Sorry, Liam. So when when she so you take the are you you take your car to practice to drink? Yeah. And so I've always drove my car. I've never, never asked to drive her car in my life.
00:50:33
Speaker
Even though it was four years. Yeah, I don't need it. It's my G. It's been good. It was it was a sad day to say goodbye to it. So I don't see the need for her. I got a whopping. First of all, I'm going to ask you guys, what do you think I got? It was what year was it? 2011, only 80,000 miles. Well, keep in mind, it's got some scratches, dings, 4500. OK, I was going to say six.
00:51:01
Speaker
Keep in mind, let me tell you, actually, I got in a car accident in Houston. Oh, so it was Car Fox? And I got whatever Car Fox is. But that's what my stepbrother still scars. He's like, oh, it shows up in Car Fox. Car facts or Car Fox? Oh, yeah. It's like a history. Car facts, I thought it was. Yeah, it is facts. Oh, my God. Fox is the little. I just saw a piece of spit flying hit me, too, as he said that.
00:51:29
Speaker
But anyway well anyways Car facts. I was like I've heard of that car Fox car Fox nothing anyways different different service Both of you guys are wrong I Got t-boned wasn't my fault two grand wasn't my phone. Yes, you were correct. Yes, grand 80,000 Yeah, what do you think they're gonna sell that for?
00:51:52
Speaker
I don't know. The car has great bones. The curb appeal looks terrible. Oh, they'll fix all that stuff. Yeah, that's what I said. And when the cars are like sitting side by side, I was like, oh, my God, that car is like a box. Like you see that Sprinter van right there. That's what it looks like. I was like, oh, my goodness.
00:52:11
Speaker
I've never had like a nice car. So now I'm just like. It's crazy. Now you do. I know. Now I'm nervous. I'm nervous. I drive it all the time. I know. You feel like we're all really ideas now. I've never. I'll never feel like that. I'm not going to do a slow mo video. You're getting at your car at Starfire. And so that's what that's that's going to be when we release the new recovery series. I was going to say, you have a whole. The Will Bruin, the Will Bruin recovery series.
00:52:41
Speaker
called liver liver liver Jordan's was heart oh yeah I got it nice I got it I'll tweet back yeah get on I've given him so much trouble for it because I'm like Babs can we do a spoof
00:52:57

And that was like, I would be on board, but I don't think the upper ups would like that because you know how Jason Sudeikos did the spoof with Tottenham being the coach. You got to be better. He's got the visor on him. Like, can we do a spoof recovery, please?

I think I shot down. I think it'd be awesome. I think that would have like broken records. I know. I think it would have been awesome. Viewage. Viewership. Viewership. Viewership. You should know that. KPIs.

I know. All right. Well, well, we made it through another episode. I'm so happy to be back in 2020 with Wilbrew. Oh, quick little fun fact. When you're signing checks and signing stuff documents, don't put don't write 20.
00:53:38
Speaker
You have to write 2020 because if you write 20 somebody can add Yes, different numbers to the end. So You don't get that so it's your 2020. Oh my gosh I yeah a little fun fact writing a lot of checks. No, well lately. Yeah, but no It's just something I saw on the today show this morning. I never fun fact So like if even if you're like signing and dating something don't just write 20 fill out the whole day 2020
00:54:03
Speaker
because they can get with all the stuff going on with Iran and whatever could happen. Make sure you cover yourself. Right. 2020, there could be some cybersecurity stuff going on to put this podcast under educational. Yeah, I know. I just decided to throw that in there last minute. Good. Yeah. Right. 2020. Yeah. Right. Like you look so like shocked. I like my idea blown away by this. Think about it. If you just write 20, because normally you write like 19.
00:54:30
Speaker
Mm hmm. So you write 20. I'm going to take whatever you wrote as 20. I'm going to put like 2019 or 2021. Yeah. But is that I mean, I'm not quite sure the play there, but I get it.
00:54:44
Speaker
So it looks like you have you not get the play like you you wrote the check earlier Whatever it is. It could be anything. It could be like a legal document. It could be anything legal good point I'm just thinking purely checks on my mind is not working. I was just saying that they could intercept your cuz I've been writing too much a Bad check and they could write a new one and take over your come on. They could say look Hey, he wrote that wrong. Give me his routing number. Yeah, right. I
00:55:10
Speaker
Okay, fair enough. You can lose your social security number. You could lose your house. You lose everyone. Yeah. All right. New segment on that'll be a. With Wilbur. Yeah, we need to fly faxes. We know that. All right. I wish we would have got into the housing segment, but well.
00:55:28
Speaker
Well, we can get in that real quick. Will, I'll give you my advice. I have a driveway I need redone. What do you think, Shay? You have a driveway? No. I do. My driveway is pretty beat up. What do you think? It's got roots and stuff on the side. Should we redo our driveway? You probably never thought about this. No, I never thought about this in my life. Do you think it would be really expensive to recover? How big is your driveway?
00:55:54
Speaker
It's like 30 yards Say like 25 yards in a roundabout tons about right. Yeah, there's a tree. Yeah a tree in the middle of the round about Depends on how far the roots are and that's something that like you can't know unless the previous owner told you something, right? They measured the root. Yeah, right, but the trees dying so it's one of those things like do you cut off the
00:56:19
Speaker
inches of the tree that's dying and kind of take the tree down. That's more expensive. I don't know. This is your house. I'm just asking you. This is a lot of questions. Yeah. A lot of things to consider. Well, if you're a contractor out there and you're trying to do driveways, you want to. I've heard you don't have to do it, but.
00:56:37
Speaker
If somebody can give me a good quote for cheaper than what I'm expecting, then we'll talk about it. Yeah, purple mattress. Yeah. Anyways, that's all. All right. Well, this is the bear with us. Unless you guys like doing you guys like doing deck platforms. I have I did a deck.
00:57:01
Speaker
Like a platform or a proper deck? It was a proper deck. I had a platform that we replaced with a deck. So we wanted to, so we have like, the platform was like at the basement level and we raised it up to like the house level. And we were really happy. We turned it, like made it much more useful. Yeah. Think about doing a platform deck from the back entrance, but like it would be like cutting out a bunch of grass and like putting in the,
00:57:28
Speaker
I think I'm all for getting rid of grass space. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of grass space. Yeah. Everything I've gotten from Seattle people is do it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Especially in I think I probably have like 10 yards deep and probably just for where I would put the deck platform.
00:57:50
Speaker
It's way more useful because you're just not in mud. Yeah, and then put a nice little like zebo above it. There you go. Have a seating area. Yeah. That sounds about the size that we put in our old house and in the middle of it, I put a sandbox with like the deck cover of the tower so you could see it. You want to come over and give me an estimate? I'll send you an invoice. OK, cool. Yeah. Perfect.
