What is up everybody and welcome to Shaping Your Pottery with Nick Torres. In this episode you're going to learn about adding movement to your pottery and why it is so beneficial to you. I've had two interviews one with Leslie Bevin and then one with

Hannah Simpson. And one of the things that they both said was that they like to add movement to their pottery and to their sculptures and whatever they're making. And that got me thinking a little bit because this is so, so, so beneficial to people. Because a lot of people are making what I guess they would call is still pottery, where it just looks still. And when you add

movement to your pottery make it kind of look like it's moving. You're adding a little bit more of your own personality to your own style to it when you're kind of making it look like it's moving. And this is really, really beneficial because it can really help you start discovering your own style.

But what if you tried adding just a tiny bit of movement, making it look like it's on the move and it's moving and showing emotion to your pottery? What do you think would do to your pottery? What do you think that would do to your pottery, to your sculptures, to whatever you're making in pottery? What do you think that would do? I think, in my opinion, I think this is really great because this shows that you are

going to make something that is really meaningful, I guess in that sense. In my opinion, this is like really meaningful because it can really see, you can really see the passion and the hard work that you put into your pottery when you start trying to add that little bit of movement. It doesn't have to be a lot of movement, but if you could figure out a way to make it look like it's moving, showing emotion, showing anything,

then your voice is gonna stand out far more from than someone that has something that is still and is only making a bowl, a regular bowl or a regular base or a mug. Adding movement and adding emotion is where you are gonna be able to start standing out from the crowd because you can see how much people are putting more time into their pottery.
