Speaker: Welcome everybody to another edition of Speedway Stories. It's your boy Wally. What's up Benji and Billy? Thank you guys for tuning in. um Quick recap, Friday night at my hometown show, I ran my first ever monster truck race and everything else. It was a lot of fun hanging out with the guys and stuff. um Unfortunately, a few of them had some, we've had some hiccups with some breakage and everything else. Due to that circumstances, I actually,

Speaker: finished for the first time in 20 plus years of motorsports I was in the top eight unfortunately some good buddies of mine had some breakage I ended up with an issue brake issue on my Jeep not to be able to continue to find out I had a mud and rock stock stuck in between my caliper unfortunately that made my brake pedal pretty squishy so i didn't take a chance of running um Bringing my boy Wes up. I want to give a shout out too to Tyler Peters for winning Friday night and everything else.

Speaker: Brad Talbert, Dale Workman, Jared Dar, Aaron Flecknow, all the guys that showed up, Joseph Sheets. You guys, we put on one hell of a show Friday night and everything else. I just wanted to shout that out and stuff, get that out of the way.

Speaker: I got one of our favorite guests coming on right now that we've had that's been Really good supporter of the channel and of the of the Speedway stories and a good buddy of mine. Let's bring up Wes.

Speaker: What's up, big man? What's up, buddy? How you doing? Good, bud. How'd your ah show go Friday night, my man? We could have had more trucks, but I think we fueled it. 21, 22 trucks total. I'm not real sure on the count. We had a couple double entries and stuff like that.

Speaker: But we filled the time. Fairboard was happy, so that's mainly the main goal I was going for. Well, that's good that's good to hear because I know talking to you Thursday night and stuff, you weren't for sure because of gonna have all the side-by-sides and shit more than you were gonna have anything else and i mean that was our biggest class up there was side-by-sides but they came out they showed up but on good show so good good i uh i heard you and mr daniels had some unfortunate instances uh friday at the races unfortunately um but

Speaker: You guys got them all fixed up and everything else. I seen you were back out Saturday night at Marysville. um How'd you end up faring at Marysville, man? I took third. i Truck's cutting out again. Not sure why, but we're we're working through it. and It cut out like it did there in Knox where I took third. I took a third.

Speaker: Look at that for Two thirds and in one week, man. That's pretty good. but and then as you and then a second on Friday. That's not a bad week. Not a bad week. Friday, I actually had the chance to jump in a... I had the chance to jump in a... Well, JR's Ranger.

Speaker: They finished the show out. Nice. Yeah, i wouldn't call that nice today. You feeling it today? ah ah yeah well when you gotta jump in something put a show on and you kinda just jump in and put the show on it's a two wheel drive five speed oh boy short course truck I'll tell you what though Jason ran a 45 I ran a 48 with a flat tire in my truck and I brought that ranger up to 52 second run

Speaker: Nice. Hey, speaking of a legend in the chat, Mr. Pat Pulley, by the way, um this past weekend celebrated the 70th birthday. ah I've seen you guys had a pretty good successful weekend out there in Missouri as well, racing and everything else.

Speaker: But I wanted to give you a shout out on the network and stuff. Happy belated birthday, sir. um Glad to see you out there still kicking ass and stuff and taking names, man. That's awesome to see.

Speaker: so what's on the agenda coming up here i know we got some more monster truck shows coming up here what in the next week isn't it next week yeah we got bye week this week i mean some guys don't they're raising the point series we got medina tomorrow oh yeah i forgot about that yeah ah i'm taking a bye week on uh harford fair coming up i got You can go five for five Monday through Friday, the week of Hartford. I'm taking the back seat on the Monday race up in Erie.

Speaker: um I got Holmes, Hartford, Union, and Hartford. Okay. Tuesday, Wednesday, say Thursday, Friday. I'm going to try to make the Holmes County race.

Speaker: Working on talking with with one of my sponsors, seeing if he can help out a little bit. I'd like to i'd like to make another monster truck race, man. i You know, taking a knife to a gunfight Friday night, but I had a blast doing that, though. That was a lot of fun. I like that style racing.

Speaker: Yeah, I... So...

Speaker: don't know about this. Basically, if modifieds want to show up, Holmes and Union. think it's Union.

Speaker: Hey, what's going on? how How you feeling, Jackson? Jackson, aggravator, he had he had a little nasty spill this weekend at the Monsters vs. Megas. but Dude, I'm going to try to make it up to see you guys the 9th of August at the Medina show.

Speaker: Do you know if Brad's still coming up?

Speaker: The 9th. Yeah, they're doing a – it's um the Monster Mania show. There's four mega trucks. um There are aggravators coming up. Jackson's going to come up.

Speaker: There was talks of Brad from Berserker Motorsports that was on here. Two other ones. They're bringing some mini monster trucks. it's It's just kind of like a thrill show that they're doing on the night, Wes.

Speaker: Oh, gotcha.

Speaker: Oh, damn. That sucks Brad's not coming. That's okay. I'm going to try to come up and see you guys. so So, ah back to Holmes and Union.

Speaker: Okay. I need the modified guys to show up. but Or it's not...

Speaker: There's talks about stocks replacing modifieds if we can't get the modified guys to show. I'm just going to throw it out there. so I mean, and I get it, dude.

Speaker: I'm going to be honest with you, man. a lot of the i don't know. I can't speak for a lot of the guys. But I know, too, with the way the schedule is for some of them, and work-wise, I get it.

Speaker: But, I mean, it would be awesome, especially after experiencing the driver's side of doing a full-throttle race with JR and shit. Dude, he does take care of you.

Speaker: Yeah. higg but he he he He was giving me shit Friday. It was pretty funny. to Him and Dale and down everything else. Oh, no, they will. Well, the bad part is, is I was the first dummy that actually went for the first test pass.

Speaker: And when I got back, J.R. goes, well, you were only half far over the first double and you made it because I knew I was in trouble with the mod guys because they'd make it look easy. And they those guys, they they let it hang out. All of them did. I mean, i i mean, I did what I could the best I could. right I had fun.

Speaker: Oh, and that brings me to my next point. My guys, if you're coming to Holmes and Union, get a hold of me. Let me know. Stock guys, if you're interested, get a hold of me. I need to know how many I got.

Speaker: i know I know right now on Facebook, I'm going to commit now, but if something changes between now and Sunday, me and Farmer are definite.

Speaker: What's up, Zempheus? Well, we're definitely stock guys coming in, so I know that much. I won't give you at least two of us. but If we can get paying on the mod side, actually, I'm opening it up.

Speaker: He's throwing me a free range. Top finishing stock guys is getting $300. No shit.

Speaker: no she Yep. Because we're working with Holmes County for a big event. So we need the trucks there.

Speaker: So. Well, I'm trying to spread the word as always. You know that, man, to get to cover anything. Yep. Yep.

Speaker: um If Joseph king if joseph can get his we can get his steering and shit fixed, he's going to try to make it too, but there's no promises on that. He kind of fucked up that Jeep. I guess Coach, we're talking about coming. I got the guy that bought Logan Strux talking about coming.

Speaker: I hope Tyler comes down. What's up, Daniel? ty I think Tyler would probably be there. i don't know for sure. Brad may be there. he don't know yet.

Speaker: I talked to him yesterday. He's done 100% because of the two races for Hartford that week. so I'm going back and back and back. Yeah, especially after ah after his second place run, it broke some shit Friday night. yeah but yeah But that is my plan. is I'm going to bring the Jeep.

Speaker: I'm going to come run Holmes County. and And then Friday night be at Hartford. So because I'm actually working the timers again this year for the Wednesday show. So I will be there for the timers, but not basically supporting you guys again as always.

Speaker: But I'll be there Wednesday running the clocks again. honest me yeah, that and then then my other one after that is won't be until –

Speaker: Norwalk, the 21st, the following Friday after Hartford. Ooh. Yeah. So, I don't know when my next one will be. But those are my next main three that I'm trying to hit here in the next two weeks. so Right. Let me think here.

Speaker: I know I'm going to hit Kishokton at the end of the year. Yep, that's that's on the end. And I'm going to go to Murrow County, too. So, I'm going to go to Gilead. I might show up there for reasons.

Speaker: I would. Let's have some fun that night, if you know what I mean. oh might show up there. Just because. But yeah, those are my those are my last five races of the year or so that I got on the bucket list for the finish out season.

Speaker: Right. Yeah, I mean... If the Urbana wasn't... Wasn't when it was and finance wise, I'd be like you. And if I could do it, I'd do back to back to man. But just the the financial side of things right now until next year is kind of hit and miss. So I got to be be picky.

Speaker: You know what I mean about my races, unfortunately. Trust me, I understand that 100%, and I know that's some of the factor in getting these trucks to these shows.

Speaker: Well, not only that, it's just the work schedules of some of the guys, too. You got to play them, too. You know what I mean? Yeah, oh god I get that 100%, too. It's just...

Speaker: I don't want to see it go away and it's leaning that way, unfortunately, just because truck count. mean now i I know, man. and It makes it hard.

Speaker: Puts me in a tough spot. What's up, Jamie? Speaking of my hauler, Mr. Annette, thank you again for this past Friday hauling me in for the Monster Truck Show.

Speaker: I'm glad you had a blast that night getting to hang out with everybody. so I appreciate you again.

Speaker: oh on Pretty good show. Pretty good track. Isn't that the one that was just you last year at? Because yeah Jason was broke? Yeah.

Speaker: Well, I guess sir guess we're going to have to come. Us stock guys are going have to come down and put on a show with you. so ah Yeah. oh It's a good show. I enjoyed it last year.

Speaker: This year? Is it over on the new side? Is it on the new side? Couldn't tell you, buddy. I'm being honest.

Speaker: So you and are you in charge of this show this time around? Or are you both going to be there? I bet it's both. Okay, cool.

Speaker: I'm going to give JR some more shit when I see him in person again. Like he gives me. well I'm going to try. I got the whole Hartford week off.

Speaker: I'm on vacation, so I'm going get out there early and try to really help with some stuff. try to so what So what was your track like down there at Claremont, buddy?

Speaker: How'd you have it set up? I've seen some of Jason's videos from his his runs. It looked like a pretty quick, pretty fast big-ass track you guys had. Yeah, it was I don't know, but I made tight corners.

Speaker: like you Like me and you were talking to do? Make it where the corners were tight? Oh, they were tight. Like I said, they were... The big... We had a crew cab truck out there. He was struggling. Yeah, yeah. They're going to.

Speaker: We... I made it tight on the one end because next year, looking in you know looking forward, I need more dirt brought in. I didn't have all the dirt in the world.

Speaker: that's cool So I had... A little bit of frame twisher, start, or, in the first lane, I had a little bit of frame twisher, a kicker, and then nice tabletop.

Speaker: Got some air off that, and then I went, Down the center lane, i have four four jumps. Coming around to the outside lane, I have a roller tabletop. If you hit it good, you get some air. If not, it was an easy hill.

Speaker: Going into frame twisters and two singles at the end of that, and then you hit every lane twice. Well,

Speaker: you hit the first and second lane twice. You only hit the last lane once. Okay, nice. I'm glad at least you got 21 trucks to show up, man. I mean, that's that's pretty good. I mean, for a first-time show, I mean, other than, what was it, just you and Jason in the mod class, or was there any more?

Speaker: We had that semi-modified two-wheel pill ranger four banger so at the end of the night it was just me and the ranger um well it was pretty good show we packed the grandstand so and not bad for not bad for for first time show buddy that's pretty good man you got it under your belt are you glad to get that get that out of the way your first first time show out of the way yeah Yeah, it's definitely a weight lift.

Speaker: Got some things to work on, though. i mean That's giving nobody like we've talked, man. It's going to There's definitely talk some more next year. I'll probably be looking for a little bit of a crew going forward.

Speaker: um Hell yeah. open where The possibilities are endless, man. Yeah, the thing is, back to where you were talking, I i get the double, you know, we Tyler having the points series, and I love what JR's doing because basically with what he's doing with this Buckeye points series deal is like the old TNT days with the stadium trucks. They had every monster truck show was a you know points race and stuff.

Speaker: Hey, what's up, Rocky? What's going on, brother? But, yeah, i like what I like where he's going with this. I definitely love the layout. of I know the monster trucks are the bread and butter of it.

Speaker: um But just the experience of being out there and part of that of the show Friday night, now I see why a lot of you guys actually like doing the shows and stuff, man. It's a lot of fun, lot of practice for upcoming, you know, like the Hartford Medina kind of shit if you can make it. um But it's neat to get that experience of the side-by-side racing, doing the Chicago-style racing.

Speaker: It was fucking awesome. Oh, yeah. I mean, a month Chicago is fun. It's not my favorite. I like the Jayhook better. Oh, right. But, I mean, just for for what – especially with what what you're given space-wise, if you can get away with either one of the Jayhook-style racing or the Chicago-style – Dude, you can't go wrong with that because you honestly find out who's the better driver and everything else oh yeah when it comes to that shit.

Speaker: Yeah, it's definitely a fun time either way you do it. But it just all depends on the track, side track size and everything, whether we can or not.

Speaker: I mean, from what he was dealt with again at Knox this year, it was a it was from being a spectator last year to be a participant this year, it was a night and day difference, man. i I really enjoyed it, though. It was it was awesome.

Speaker: Oh, yeah. I mean, we tried. That's one thing. like one Hey, what's up, Chris? When all of us trucks get there, J.R. will try to talk to us, see what what we want to do was track-wise and stuff like that. and That's kind of why he brought me in He's starting to really learn how to build these jumps and stuff to make it competitive track.

Speaker: Yeah, and I mean, money it it was it was nice the way, I mean, it was sweet the way it set up. I mean, and like I said, unfortunately, some of the mishaps that happened Friday, but still the ones of us that got to still go on.

Speaker: And the bad part is, is only one that actually broke on a test pass, unfortunately was Aaron, but everybody else got to at least make one pass before the disasters hit as I call it.

Speaker: But it was still, but it was still the track was, I think for what he was given was laid out perfect for what he was given. So, I mean, it was, it was a good track. Right.

Speaker: Like said, I haven't really got to watch any videos from that. I was pretty busy with my, my thing. Yeah. I sent you, I, I posted some of the of my runs and stuff and then your Knox County run. I don't know if you got the text message. I, I created you a video of one of your runs for you that, uh, it was done with grandpa's wings as the caption on it, buddy. So yeah, I've seen it. I appreciate that.

Speaker: No problem, man. I figured you, I got, got on my, ah my creator thing and i was like I'm going to go through and make some I made one for Dale I made one for Tyler um I took one and did for Brad and his daughter from the monster truck show did the bust and loose with the father daughter uh racing deal for them for the monster truck did that on there and shit and I got a few other ones i've I'm working on doing up their stuff for them too from Friday night and the ones I got Wednesday night too. so

Speaker: Right, right. I mean, it's fun and all. it just i' I'm not smart enough to do it. yeah i'm going I'm still learning. My thing of it is, I'll tell you my experience with like Maddie,

Speaker: Joe, Jared Darby in there. I figured I was going to get my first race. I was going to get lined up against somebody like them or something. Oh, no. I get first round, first out. I get Chris Glover, of all people. i get Of all people, it was the Chris versus Chris deal, and this Chris got his ass whooped. But it was fun.

Speaker: I mean, it was it was a good time, though. I enjoyed it. I can't wait to do it again, to be honest with you it was I like the timed stuff we do at the local fairs, but after running that monster truck show, man, like we did, I would do it a million times if I had to deep enough pockets. I would travel to do this shit.

Speaker: I love it. So, I know we're looking for head-to-head. I think he's setting up head-to-head at Holmes. um But he wants no truck count, so...

Speaker: I'm working on it. i'm ah i'm ah Like I said, I'm going to keep pushing because, you know, I got everybody plus you got and I got a few others that you don't have. um' I'm getting the word out to try to get everybody there for that Tuesday night show. so Right. I'm just saying it's going to ultimately come down to truck count if we go head to head or what we do up there. We're pushing for head to head.

Speaker: i'd like i'd like I'd like to do the head to head if we can get the trucks. um We all would because that's what they want up there. Yeah. That would be nice because right right now as we speak, it's me, you, Jason, and Farmer.

Speaker: I mean, unless... Coach Lee and Zach with the Logan's old truck. Also, Zach got Logan's old truck fixed up. That's what he says. I've never met the guy. They're six.

Speaker: They're six. um Well, Steven even said possibly he's coming. The one with the White Ranger that's for sale. He might Might.

Speaker: Me and him's been talking. There might be a little

Speaker: something there. There we go. um Maybe Tyler will end up showing up. We'll see. Never know about him. He's a last-minute type of Yeah.

Speaker: But we'll try. I know... i I know one that's probably guaranteed Dale. Dale will be there. i don't know if he's coming or not. He might be going down to Hartford.

Speaker: He's doing both. He'll race wherever he can race. Oh. I'm going to tell him to come to fucking Holmes. Forget going dirt drag racing.

Speaker: I'll work. I'll work. i'll deal with I'll deal with Uncle Dale. you Don't worry about that. I've been in contact with him. Me and Dad just fixed Jared's truck. You

Speaker: guys get it fixed. Good. Yeah, he's good. He's running in. Good. oh But, yeah, we'll try to get it. I'll try to get everybody. But, like I said, that that's that week of ah what we call Hell Week, Speed Week.

Speaker: It is speed week. Especially for me, because depending on who's going up Monday night to Erie, got Erie, Holmes, Hartford, Claremont, or not Claremont, God damn it, Union, and Hartford on the same week.

Speaker: Three monster truck shows back to back. Yeah. So, Erie, I'll pass on that one. That's kind of a hell of a haul.

Speaker: a I'm not going. I could. I'm off, but I got some. I'm doing something else on Monday. There you go. But, yeah, ah how's the rest of the season looking for you? I mean, on the full throttle side.

Speaker: I mean, how many more shows do we got left before, you know, the it's done and over with?

Speaker: I know we got Woods Field on the 24th of this month. I know we got race in September in Logan. i up in Mount Fountain? ah Logan, Ohio, that's all he said. I'm not sure.

Speaker: Okay. I know, too, he was talking to us Friday. um We're getting an indoor Ohio show. That's at Holmes. That's why we're trying to get trucks there.

Speaker: That's at Holmes County. so Okay. Fuck, great in our right in my backyard. ah Damn. Yeah. So... Yep, I'm definitely going to start pushing this issue for Holmes County than if that's going to make or break us getting and a winner race here in Ohio.

Speaker: Fuck. That's why I'm trying to push it. I'm like, there's a lot more behind the scenes of this... than what people understand.

Speaker: Like I said, I totally understand the work schedules. I understand the already existing point series, but I'm also looking at the future of this sport.

Speaker: I'm like, hey, guys, it's like this is a big deal.

Speaker: Well, I mean, that's the thing. It's got – Like you and me talked, we've actually talked behind the scenes. You know, like with my with my deal, we were talking last year, and I'm still working on that ordeal too.

Speaker: But it's it's people don't realize the work that goes behind the scene. I mean, look at the shit JR, his promotion did all last week. Nine days, ten shows basically. All week long.

Speaker: I mean. but and There's a lot of shit that goes on behind the scenes that people don't know about. I mean. I got firsthand. ah Yeah, well, and then, well, with running your own show, and I know Brad there for a little bit when he first started, when JR started coming around and Brad was running with him, but you literally have the promotion side now of everything that's going on because you ran your own show this past Friday. So, I mean, you know what it takes now and what needs to change and kind of make things a little better and

Speaker: Keep growing from there. So, I mean, yeah, that's what people don't understand to put on these shows and shit. They think, we'll just throw money out here and we'll throw these shows on.

Speaker: I'll speak firsthand experience trying to put a show together is a fucking pain in the ass. Because, number one, the biggest thing that kicks you in your dick is the damn event insurance.

Speaker: That is the biggest thing. thing people do not realize that can put a stop to a show in a heartbeat is the event insurance.

Speaker: That and then when you're dealing with fairs, you got to work with the fair board pretty good.

Speaker: Right. You got to give them what they want. you gotta you gotta It's kind of a get give and take situation but it's a little more give with the fair boards than what you'd yeah i'm gonna want to do yeah you got you got to get it where they're going to keep wanting you coming back when it comes that time the get fairs again oh they came in we want them again because they put on a kick-ass show we're going to bring them back no no questions asked but yeah if you have those if you have a little hiccup or something like that

Speaker: They might be forgiving. They might tell you to go take a flying leap and never come back again. I mean, that's, that's what can make or break you. And if you don't have the support around you, when you're doing this shit to make these shows, it can all fall apart in a blink of an eye.

Speaker: william There's a reason I partner with who I partner with.

Speaker: I'll put, I'll put that way. Um,

Speaker: but also lot of people understand is these fair conventions we go to. mean, there's a lot of stuff that goes down there and a lot of expenses there too on top of the shows itself.

Speaker: um So it's there's a lot more behind the scenes than just, oh, I built the track, here you go. Right. You got well. and the And the thing is, so now, like, was your side of the deal for Claremont?

Speaker: Because you were strictly dealing with the tough trucks and the side by sides. It's one of those deals. How would you explain?

Speaker: You'd want to make the show better next year.

Speaker: Well, I mean, our biggest thing is now people know what it is up there, so we're hoping more locals sign up. I mean the show itself was great.

Speaker: We're just lacking trucks. So we're going to talk to them if they want us back. We're going to talk to them about a different day.

Speaker: Different date, I should say. And, you know, All the drivers were happy. One of those back, they're going to tell their buddies. I had non-drivers coming up to me. It's like, we want to enter what we need to do. like, just grab something come drive it.

Speaker: It's that simple. So, there's... And see, the one one thing real quick. See, the only only downfall that hurt Friday night was, that was two points races.

Speaker: Yeah. That's the only downfall. That was two points races the same night. Yeah. I mean, we knew that was going to limiting factor going into it.

Speaker: um wasn't I Like said, we we were happy. i would have liked to see 30 trucks and side-by-sides. I was off by eight. Eight or nine.

Speaker: That's still not bad. That's still not bad for a first show. First time, first show. First time up there. i mean, they never even seen a rough truck, so... I mean, that and that that's good to see. I mean, that's that's nice.

Speaker: Hopefully you guys can get a different date. Maybe more of the mod guys can come and they can see more of you guys and, you know, the other guys and everything else bring their trucks up there too instead of just all stock shit.

Speaker: and Right. And give them a taste of a little more horsepower and stuff with the mods. Yeah, I mean, don't get me wrong. we We had some breakage. We had some, we had a rollover. mean, they got to see some carnage too.

Speaker: So. Yeah, JR got to see his first rollover in his Tough Truck event with thanks to, thanks to Joseph Sheets. Oh, did he roll it?

Speaker: Yeah, he rolled it against Brad. He rolled it against Brad. So. Wildfire, right? No, it's actually Loud and Rowdy, my buddy from Loud and Rowdy. that all he Yeah, he rolled it against Brad.

Speaker: No, Wildfire actually didn't show up, which I was kind of surprised. Usually he he came to it last year, but he didn't this year. Yeah. Huh.

Speaker: I don't think we're going to have that. There was me, Joseph, Jared with his Jeep, and even Dalton brought the Jeep back out again. And unfortunately, after his first pass, he put a hole in the oil pan, unfortunately, which sucked. got rid of one gremlin from Wednesday night at the Knox County Fair to put a whole hole in his oil pan at the monster truck show.

Speaker: so It's going to happen. Oh, yeah. um But, yeah, I mean.

Speaker: All in all, it's been pretty good year so far. I can't complain. i was going to say, everybody across the board, not only just for full throttle, but just the Tough Truck community, period.

Speaker: This year's Rough Truck so far going in coming into August has been then badass shows all around. i mean... I mean, Marion, other than there really wasn't a truck count like there normally was, a lot of guys didn't go to Marion. But overall, everybody that's raced so far this year has been, you know, yeah, they've had a little bit of carnage here and there, but everybody's been back and racing again and everything else. So, I mean, it's it's been a pretty decent year so far, and we've still got plenty plenty to go.

Speaker: ye That's for sure. maybe We got that West Virginia show there later in the year. That's pretty fun one. The end of the year, yep, the October 10th show.

Speaker: That's a fun one. I'll be back to that. I'll go on that one.

Speaker: Yeah, so it'll be neat it'll be neat to see. That's head-to-head, too. Yep. Trying

Speaker: to think.

Speaker: Who knows? I mean, we get good truck counts. The last couple shows, there could be more races with Full Throttle. He's out at it two or three since the beginning the year. no My only thing is is the Urbana race. That's kind of a drive for a lot of people.

Speaker: and That's the thing. I mean. that's the excellent But the Holmes County is kind of – it's a nice little drive, but it's like right in everybody around us is backyards if they can go make it there. And you guys, anybody watching, come out the 11th and let's so let's get this a big show at Holmes County so we can get our indoor winter race here in Ohio. So we got to push it.

Speaker: I'm not going guarantee it, but it's on the table. so It's a big on-the-table two-day event. But we got to get the support for it, man. i mean know Like I said, on top of the fair races like we were talking, but it's just got to get it out there.

Speaker: Hey, what's up, Brock? There's another one probably committed. See it right there. Mr. Talbert Brock plans to be there 11th.

Speaker: That's good. I mean, honestly, I wouldn't care if all the every single modified showed up. That'd be nice. I mean, show up, show out. I mean, he honestly,

Speaker: it we'll qualify you. among yeah if everybody shows up, not guaranteeing everybody money. We're guaranteeing in eight places. Yep.

Speaker: But At the end of the day.

Speaker: He can't change stuff if we show up. I don't know what his plan is 100%.

Speaker: So. I mean, it'd been'd be good because that, like you were saying, that'll give the give them to the incentive to push more forward.

Speaker: That ordeal. You know what I'm saying? oh yeah. So, here's the question. We get a bunch of trucks showing up. You are running split classes, or is it going to still be always one and then just pay the highest placing stock stop vehicle along with the month? From what I understand, it's going all going to be one, but we're paying the highest placing stock truck. $300. Okay. From what I understand.

Speaker: So guys got your ears on. I mean, if you guys show up with your stock trucks, Derek, I know you don't follow my show, but I'll get it out to you. But yeah, i mean that I mean, that's incentive enough to show up. You know what i mean? for especially But it would be nice to have a lot of the mod guys there too. I mean, they do put the show on. I'll be honest. You guys do put the show.

Speaker: We're looking for numbers. so But yeah, i'm looking I'm looking forward to it. Shut up, Brock. You're whatever.

Speaker: If you want to do that here, just drive my Jeep if you want to run stock. Shut the hell up. All right. I'll tell JR, bring my little yellow danger ranger down. I'll beat into wheel drive.

Speaker: ah I'll tell you what. Friday night, man, he... I honestly think... If he wouldn't had the little hiccup he had, I think we would have been talking about a different winner Friday night, the way he had a pass going against Tyler.

Speaker: um Brock put it down, and the corner kind of got him a little bit there. But, man, he was right there on – he was right on Tyler's ass. Brock put it down hard Friday night. He made hell of pass. He got to.

Speaker: That's why we're raising for money now. we were We didn't want the guys just showing up and not racing. Oh, I get it. And and it's awesome. And i I personally want to see it to grow.

Speaker: I really do.

Speaker: And like when I had JR on the show before I knew on the show when we were talking about this past winter with this coming up, it gives the guys a chance to really, really shine in front of crowds that Normally don't get to see them when they're at the monster truck shows.

Speaker: But unless unless you're like Knox County and Hartford, you you're showing out anyways because it's either a hometown show for a bunch of people either at either fair.

Speaker: But these other shows that he's got going to race at and stuff, you're racing in a different front of different crowds better that are getting people to follow the sport more.

Speaker: mind It's opening the door. I mean, Holmes County last year was only one there, and they absolutely fell in love with it. That's why we're coming back. And I'm honest, I wouldn't be surprised. that I'm surprised a lot of the guys being in the in redneck country down around Brinkhaven, Danville area, a lot more people in the Holmes County area don't show up with trucks.

Speaker: Honestly, I'm surprised. Last year it was invite only.

Speaker: Oh, was it invite only? This year, it's it's open. Okay. It's open. me know we'll get it and we'll get it to We'll get it shared out.

Speaker: Yeah, do we want a bunch of stock trucks showing up? Not really. If they're the... How do I put it? The true stock truck.

Speaker: Well, cheater stocks are okay. It's the ones that are going to break the first run out. We don't... one keep show moving But right at the end of the day, we're not going to really, you're going to have to qualify if we get 40 trucks there.

Speaker: Right. the more The more trucks we get, the more qualifying. and it and And if you don't we qualify, I mean, still, you get to stay and enjoy the enjoy a hell of a show. Yeah. Either either way you look at it.

Speaker: Yep. So, there's that. And then, Yeah, I mean, it just, one of the things where he tried it and if wein't we we were looking for, i't know, six guys to truly follow around with it. We got two.

Speaker: it is what it is, you know. We're gonna keep pushing it and see what happens and Ultimately, at the end of the year, going in next year, we'll decide what happens with it.

Speaker: I just hope it continues on, honestly, man. I mean, I get and the the support's there, but it's it's only at certain events. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. I mean,

Speaker: don't get me wrong you and jason are die hard on it i mean even with you i'd say you'd still be die hard with it if you weren't on the other side of the things too with the promotion i was before i started right motion but but that's the thing and a lot of it once again plays into work schedules time of travel if they can get off but with these local with him being closer and stuff I've noticed more of the guys showing up for them, a lot of them, than the further ones. But, I mean, Florence, Kentucky, when he did that show down there, I was amazed, actually, how many mod guys went down.

Speaker: Honestly. Yeah, that show kind of hurt us. Hurt the whole thing. i just Some things happened there. People got mad. So, we'll leave it at that. But that was one show.

Speaker: But I'm just saying, that was one show you guys actually had a good mod count. Yeah. It was actually a damn good mod count. It was. Like I said, if shit would went different down there, it have been little bit better.

Speaker: I'm going get ready go jump in my car, so it might get a little spotty. That's fine, man. But yeah, I mean, and the only thing of it is too, is once again, like we were talking, Wes, it's just, it's learning experiences. We gotta, gotta get better from here. That's the only thing we can do.

Speaker: but Yeah, for sure. And that's kind of what I'm who's getting at, trying to get out, I should say. What the fuck? what through do the guys is that we're working on it. It's our first year.

Speaker: um give us a break kind of don't give up on us. And I, and I get it, man. You're not going to be, you're going to be successful, but you're not going to be tier successful first year out.

Speaker: You're, you're, you're going to have the hiccups. You're going to have, you know, the, the I don't like this part of this thing. But you also, like you said, you can't give up on it. You got to keep growing with it. and And ah from what I'm seeing is is it's changing as it goes. It's getting better from what I what i can see. And that's the only way it can be.

Speaker: Yeah. And like I said, it I'm pushing for it to stay.

Speaker: I mean, if fight if I hadn't... I'm talking to him.

Speaker: I would love to be more involved on the racing side of it if I could. But, I mean, I'm just... Unfortunately, I'm limited on certain things. so But I would love to be more involved with the racing side.

Speaker: Everybody is. And I'm not... don't want anybody taking this wrong way. I'm upset or I'm mad. that I'm just... telling you guys what's going on kind of in the, on the back end of things right now.

Speaker: So I tried to, I tried to be transparent.

Speaker: We can keep something going, but I don't want people, we're mad or upset. Cause we're not, we understand completely. It's just one them things where I'm going to let you guys know that, or, you know, everybody know that like, Hey,

Speaker: It's potentially not going to be here because of these reasons. We're not mad. We're not upset. But if you don't, like you said, if you don't have the count, the truck count, it's going to cut out where it's just going to be strictly monster trucks and there ain't going to be nothing but the normal fair races.

Speaker: I mean, therere there will always be a sideshow with monster trucks, but it's not going to be this. Yeah, this is this is kind of one of those, in my personal opinion, too, Wes, this is kind of giving back the old jamboree feels without all the car shows everything else.

Speaker: It's more the mini version because you're just doing it with the monster truck show. it's It's one of those feels. Yeah, and, you know, we're Let's say we're trying to get bigger events for rough trucks and monster trucks.

Speaker: We want to throw a jamboree style event, but we can't go full-fledged into that if we can't get the trucks at the smaller level.

Speaker: Right. And... And...

Speaker: and and and it makes And it makes it hard to to expand more when you can't get where you need to be. Right. that's That's basically where it's at.

Speaker: if You can't expand out to bigger, better things if it's not down down there at the bottom or meeting in the middle, as I would say, not really the bottom, meeting in the middle to extend up to Say one day down the road, hell, who knows? There could be $3,000 to win show, $5,000 to win show in the next five or ten years as long as the support's there for the Tough Truck side. You know, you never you never know unless you get behind it.

Speaker: Because, I mean, I'll be honest. There was talks about that sooner than five years. But i do you know what I mean? I'm just throwing it out there. There's a chance for that.

Speaker: No, I'm just letting you know, there was talks about that sooner than five years. Me and JR have talked about that. I mean, they have talked about a couple other things too, but we can't throw that kind of money for 20 trucks.

Speaker: twenty trucks Right. yeah When we're talking that, I mean, mod-wise, yes, that's a different story. But when we're talking about that kind of money, we're talking about mods and stocks. you know We're going to open it up. you know Stocks, cheaters, stocks, mods. Oh, yeah.

Speaker: Shit like that.

Speaker: But... a we're just We wanted to see how this went, and...

Speaker: Some shows went great. Other shows, like all right, well.

Speaker: Well, and also, too, I'll be honest with you, Wes. It should give you guys kind of the layout of the area, area-wise, where the bulk of the guys are willing to go during these shows.

Speaker: You know what I'm saying? It is. It is, but it all like I said, some of it hurts because of the points races. yeah We got two points races on the same day. and Or yeah we got a Monster Truck Show same day that it's a different points race. And I understand that.

Speaker: i But unfortunately, we're always going to have fares overlapping. and Oh yeah, you're going to have... It's going to happen. But it's going to be one of those things, honestly, to try to avoid...

Speaker: avoid it if you can having the same same day situation for a point series if you can't but if it can't be avoided it's understandable but if there's that chance in there that 50 50 chance you can avoid it you may end up actually getting you could get the count but because right you got the same day And like I said, it was closer for everybody else to come to Knox than it was, unfortunately, your show.

Speaker: I didn't really... was mainly... My show was mainly focused on the stocks and side by sides. I wasn't upset about the mod count. I knew my what my mod count was going in ah when we signed up for the show.

Speaker: already knew.

Speaker: Um... I mean, I'm not even upset about my show all. It's what it is. They either liked it or they didn't. We'll either be back or we won't. that i mean Hopefully you guys will be back on a different date where it's not overlapping. and maybe Maybe the next year, if it is on a different date, I might venture down myself. You never know.

Speaker: I mean, it's a good track. It's one of the biggest... Honestly, I mean, it's not no Knox track, but for a grandstand track, compared to Hartford and, you know, some of our other fairs like Hartford, it was a big track. There's a lot you can do on it.

Speaker: I just, for the first time up there, I i played it safe and keep it simple, stupid kind of mindset. um And I I had so much dirt I could work with.

Speaker: Right. But I mean, like it seems like, like I said, it was a successful show for first time ever being there and doing something. It's something to grow on and everything else. And next year is going to be bigger and better, man.

Speaker: Oh yeah. We're, so I know we're talking about four to five shows next year that I'm putting on right now. Um,

Speaker: not set in stone it's just the number that was thrown out that i want to be at for my second year um right

Speaker: but you know at the end of the day i'm not stopping if this thing's gonna grow we're gonna grow if i if i gotta step back back

Speaker: from racing on my own events, I got to step back. a I got find a driver, throw in the truck, I got to find a driver. It's going to be one of the things. I mean, like you said, if you're going to keep it growing, I mean, sacrifices got to be made, unfortunately.

Speaker: But

Speaker: at the end of the day, my main goal is A monster truck and this is just helping me get there.

Speaker: Right. I want my own monster truck. I want to be able to. that's That's the goal at the end of the day for me. don't want to be.

Speaker: don't know. Static. want to keep growing in my motorsports career. And the only way you're going to do that is just you got to keep pushing forward, man. I mean, honestly, I mean, we're not, we're not no spring chickens no more, dude. We've only got so much time before, before the, that, that hourglass runs out on us to be able to continue doing what we're doing.

Speaker: Oh yeah, for sure. And you know, I'm blessed right now with the age I'm at doing what I'm doing. I mean, 27 and promoting,

Speaker: I never really thought I'd be here. Yeah, it's it's pretty awesome though, man, to get the experience to do all this stuff. so And you know, there's been

Speaker: once I'll say again, there's been talks about me taking on the big boy a big boy show here and there too. so It's not just going to be one event.

Speaker: One style of the event. Right. and i mean that The only way going to be able to do that is to just keep growing and and learning as you go this year. You've got to go through. it's not like It's not like riding a bicycle. You've got to take those baby steps before you can freaking start running. Oh, yeah. And another...

Speaker: get it there and another kind of unique thing about this situation there's not really a lot of Ohio promoters for there is but there ain't if that makes sense that the bad part is on the ah promoter side of things they're not doing i'm gonna and I'm going to throw it out here i mean it is what it is

Speaker: jr style full throttle and and then you got of course tim howard and his his company he does you guys are the main you guys are like the main two shows around here that puts on quality shows right these other shows around here or they're good they're good shows but they're not bringing the quality of the trucks the people want to see.

Speaker: like Like J&M promotion, like Full Throttle. You guys are bringing in the monster trucks. You're bringing in the tough trucks that people want to see at these fairs and stuff here in Ohio.

Speaker: Most of these other monster truck shows are, you know, your one-off weekend shit. this isn't This isn't seven days a week. you're Like this last week for J-Arc.

Speaker: Prime example. What was it? Nine shows and ten then in eight days? I mean, Full Throttle was busy all last week. I mean, it was insane.

Speaker: oh yeah. And there were multiple shows. There was multiple shows on days, too. It wasn't just... Friday, we had four shows. Yeah. So, I mean, that right there alone... And three of them were in Ohio.

Speaker: Yeah. So, I mean... It's out there, but it's just one of those things too to get out there. But you also got to be careful like not spreading yourself thin. You know what I mean? i mean i get doing the shows and shit and getting them lined up because, like you said, bears do overlap.

Speaker: But at the same time, if you don't have the support crew like JR, like he has, he wouldn't be able to put on – four shows in one day like he did.

Speaker: No, I mean, we don't get me wrong, it was, we had to figure out where to pull people and stuff like that, but it it all worked out because we he's been doing this for 10 plus years. He knows, he is a very knowledgeable person.

Speaker: He knows what he's doing. He's now passing that down to me and, you know, I can't, complain and about it.

Speaker: I am grateful for it because um i don't know if anybody else would ever give me a shot at doing this. Nah. I'm being honest.

Speaker: Not many people out there get the opportunity to do what you're doing. and To be 100% honest, it's I took a shot in the dark.

Speaker: I went up to him and I said, I wouldn't mind promoting the show.

Speaker: ah He all right, let's do it. so Yeah, and and there's not many big-time promoters out there willing to take a chance on somebody that's never done one before to take them under their wing and show them the ropes like that. So, I mean, that's That's mad props to JR for giving you the opportunity.

Speaker: Well, and I mean, I didn't do it first show I ran with him. didn't do it second show. It was two years of me showing up, showing him I was actually dedicated right before I asked him. And then he just said, yep, you're coming up to Columbus with me to the convention on this day and we'll see what we can do.

Speaker: And look where you're at. You ran your very first show Friday night. Yeah. I mean, you want to talk about going through the range of emotions and stress levels and watching what you do because all eyes are on you. And it was, say the least, it was a very intense situation.

Speaker: Um... Corey, you're not allowed to run in the top trucks no more. Your back's fucked up enough, dude. Normally, most shows are eight. Isn't it 18?

Speaker: for Most of the fares, you've got to be 18 with a driver's license at most of these shows. Yeah, I mean, most of the fares, too. JR's a little different.

Speaker: Yeah, it just depends. Usually, it's get a parent to sign a waiver and shit, so. I mean, we had a 15-year-old driver at Marysville.

Speaker: Well, Maddie's what? Monster truck. Maddie's 17. I was about a monster truck. Oh, yeah. Well, Maddie, she she got to run the Friday night the monster truck show because they wouldn't let her run. yeah um Corey, actually, with the monster truck shows, man, um you can you can do...

Speaker: I mean, it was 16, 17 years old. Parents, but as long as it's parents are okay with it and shit. JR was cool with Brad Talbert's daughter running and stuff. So, but yeah, the fairs now they've gotten, this is ah like you said, Wes, this is the first year fucking Knox used to let them run no matter what, as long as the parents signed a waiver for him, like 14, 15 years old.

Speaker: Now it's 18 years old at Knox. They just started it this year, which is stupid. With the driver's license. With a driver's license, that's correct. You do have to have a driver's license. Can't be a permit.

Speaker: It had to be a driver's license. Yep. Let me guess. Corey's talking about wanting to put Hunter behind the wheel, aren't you, bud?

Speaker: I mean. ah harford's Hartford's 18, man. You got to be 18 at Hartford, too, with a driver's license, unfortunately. They changed it again.

Speaker: It was 16 and a driver's license and parents' consent. Now it's strictly 18 years old. A lot of fares. Insurance.

Speaker: Yep. Well, then that what we talked about last Thursday, that Derby incident, I'm sure the insurance for motorsports is going to go through the roof now because of that dumbass. Oh, yeah.

Speaker: It's coming down to insurance things on these fares. Yep. what it's coming down to. I mean, I'm sure a lot of these fairs don't really care, but their insurance says otherwise. Otherwise.

Speaker: Yep. Walk that fine line. If you don't, we're going to raise your prices or drop you. You pick poison. And you don't want draw them drop them. Yeah, because then we lose our events.

Speaker: Yep. and I mean, that's another thing. It's just When you're talking about being a promoter, I didn't fully understand what it was all about until I fully understood what it was all about.

Speaker: Yeah, it's more than just putting on a show, huh, Wes? Oh, yeah. I mean, i um like, I think it's February or January. I'll be up at the Columbus All Convention Center

Speaker: and talking the fairs all week. Yep, get them lined up and get them get them signed up. Get us get us some a bunch of fairs next year. Well, and that's the thing. I mean, that right there, you want to talk about getting know your fair board or the fairs you're going to, and that's where it all starts is that show.

Speaker: And JR does like three or four of them in a row. He does Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, and Ohio.

Speaker: So, when I say this... Like he said, though, Ohio's been his biggest one. This is his largest he's had for shows is Ohio's been eating him eating him up, taking him in.

Speaker: Oh, yeah. I mean, you won't believe the amount people come by her the booth up there. And, like,

Speaker: nice I'm not going to get into too many details about it. We're on the big screen. All right. Yeah, there's a lot there.

Speaker: But yes yeah you get to know the fairs and what they want, what they expect. And yeah you know as a promoter myself now, I've got to take all that into consideration.

Speaker: I understand why JR is the way he is now about these shows.

Speaker: Yeah, he he, I mean, but youve got you got to be picky and got to be on your A game. I seen it firsthand just watching the way he was running the show Friday night at Knox. I mean, he was running around like a chicken with his fucking head cut off all night.

Speaker: Oh, yeah, I was that way Friday night as well. But he wants to put on, like he was telling us during our tough truck meeting, the fans are here to see a show.

Speaker: He brought us in to put on a show. Yes, we are we are technically what he said, the secondary show. But he knows what the guys, especially the mod guys, you guys are there.

Speaker: You put on the show. Normally you steal the show the night of the monster truck shows all the time because you leave it all hanging out there. Yeah, i mean, I, my first monster truck show, everybody's like, hey, you don't have to go out here and kill it right. I'm like, what?

Speaker: ah Yeah, you don't have to kill it. I'm like, okay, yeah, nope. Here we go, boys.

Speaker: I don't know how not to kill it out there. I go out there, I strap the helmet on, it's all or nothing. you you get in that You guys get in that zone. It's one of those deals. You see tunnel vision and that's all you think about until it's done.

Speaker: Yep, that's 100% correct. You know, I can tell you that I'm not going to get out there and kill it. I'm going to take it easy here and there, but then I strap in and engine fires and I feel it underneath my foot, it's whole different ballgame.

Speaker: Yep.

Speaker: But All right, buddy. I'm going to have to hop off here. All righty, man. Thanks, Wes, again for coming on. um You guys be safe. I'll catch you later. I'll stay in contact. I'll get a hold of you tomorrow.

Speaker: All right. Later, man. Yep. See you.

Speaker: Thanks again, Wes, for coming up. um Yeah, any of my buddies out there in the Tough Truck world that's listening everything else, um august 11th holmes county millersburg ohio let's show up and show out um there's a good possibility for bigger things to come this winter at that fairgrounds if we show up more details to come on that through full throttle monster trucks um

Speaker: Oh, yeah. I agree, Pat.

Speaker: But, yeah, we get the tough trucks to show up and everything else. Yeah, there's, like Wes was saying earlier, there's good possibility of bigger things for being done at that fairgrounds.

Speaker: This past Friday night was a great experience running my first monster truck show. Corey. Once again, man, like my Facebook said, I want shout out my sponsors. We Broke Garage, Corey and Amber and Hunter.

Speaker: You guys, appreciate you coming on board with me. um My landlord, Maude, Tucker Roaring Motors. Of course, the network, my boy Glick being there. um Another big supporter, Jason Wright, a Shield Pro.

Speaker: He was actually my first sponsor to come on board for me. And then Corey stepped up too. And I appreciate it. Every one of them for coming on board. My family support me in this as well. um But yeah, thank you guys all for tuning in the tonight for the show and everything else. Glad to see everybody.

Speaker: Thank you for in the chatter's box and everything else. We will be back Thursday night. I'm working on getting another guest, couple guests coming up on the show. Glick's got Glick's House of Music. I'm not 100% sure if he's got a guest on the show tomorrow night or not.

Speaker: And then Wednesday night's Glick's Comedy Lounge. And like I said, we're back here Thursday with Speedway Stories. And Friday night, I'm probably going to bring back Wally's Motorsports World.
