00:00:49
Speaker
Hello and welcome to Eberron Renewed, a D&D 5th edition actual play podcast set in the Eberron campaign setting. I am your Dungeon Master, Eric.
00:00:56
Speaker
And I'm Philip. I'm Randy. I'm Jeff. And welcome to another episode. Gentlemen, what happened last time? There was at least a mind flayer and some other things. Lord more of Merix's, um, vault and encountered a mind flayer, which we killed very, very hard.
00:01:15
Speaker
Yeah, we did do, uh, do a good job on the mind flayer and his brain dogs. Yep. Um, I learned that dungeon crawls are infinitely more bearable when you have a map. Boy, isn't that true. I like the idea of running into things around every corner. I just want to know where the hell the corner leads. And we met a strange creature who was encaged.

Battle with Flaming Skulls

00:01:42
Speaker
Yeah. Locked up. Barrick knows the most about it and still doesn't really know much. Uh, it's a very, it's a mysterious thing. And then, uh, Dex checked for the wrong kind of trap, picked the thing up and now there's some, now ghost riders after him. Four ghost riders. Four of them. Okay. So that's literally where he's left off.
00:02:06
Speaker
Let's go ahead and just pick up directly where we loft off with initiative. Dex 22. Drakir. Nine. Booyah. Fifteen. Barak. Eighteen. Drakir has advantage on initiative and rolled a three and a two. Good. Oh my lord. Yeah, I do too.
00:02:30
Speaker
But, yeah, not great roles. I didn't know advantage on initiative was a thing. It was available. Rangers. Oh, sure. Dex, Dex, you are up first. I know. I like to go first. Okay, explain. They each came out of a different corner and they're converging on me. The center point of four different walls. So, yeah, they kind of floated out and they all looked towards you. They are not concentrated yet because they basically just... Right. ...entered the battlefield but have not gotten movement yet.
00:02:58
Speaker
And the shape of this room is pretty much a square, so it's not like any of them are closer to me than the others. I guess I'm just gonna swing it the one that's directly in front of me. Okay. Assuming that, yeah. And with my ribbon weave, with the blade out.
00:03:12
Speaker
That's like a 24. That's a hit. 13, 16, 22, 26, and 31 points of damage on that flaming skull. 31 points of damage? Uh-huh. Okay.
00:03:35
Speaker
and then I'm going so you crack your ribbon weave up in the air at this thing because they were kind of above you floating and it just kind of spins out of control for a second and regains its composure but still hovering in the air okay they got some real hit points on them um I go these guys are tough I hit it hard and then I think
00:03:59
Speaker
I don't know anything about these guys, right? I've not encountered this sort of thing before, so I don't know if they can shoot flame at me or if they bite or what. So they're clearly powered by some form of magic. Well, yeah, clearly. Well, you're not wrong. I don't think the Avengers. It's been a while on that one. So I'm going to...
00:04:33
Speaker
Okay, the one that you hit looks at you angrily.
00:04:39
Speaker
and you see it open its mouth and its eyes glow brighter as flames kind of shoot out and fire begins to form in its mouth and it shoots out, I need a dexterity saving throw. Well, I learned one thing about what they can do, I guess, is they can shoot fire out of their mouths. A dexterity saving throw.
00:05:09
Speaker
It's skill plus proficiency if you have proficiency, that's everything right? So that's a 21. You're gonna take half damage? I'm gonna take no damage. Oh right.
00:05:21
Speaker
Evasion put them down stupid invasion So yeah, you managed to dive completely out of the way as a fireball hits the table and Like half of the artifacts that were sitting on a table have now caught on fire. Oh crap. We're supposed to get those for Garthok, Turk, it's hard. What? I thought Giga part hard
00:05:44
Speaker
Okay, anyway, it is now the other flaming skull's turn. So, that one's seeing that the first one's attack didn't work quite as well.
00:06:07
Speaker
is going to try something different. One of them is going to shoot out. You see three darts of magical energy fire out of its mouth. Can fly it you decks. And if I can find my dice.
00:06:33
Speaker
You take 14 points of force damage as the three things hit you in the chest. There's nothing. No AC, no AC. Magic missile. Oh yeah, that one. Is it 14? Yep. The other one is going to do the same thing. And that is going to be 12 damage. Okay.
00:06:58
Speaker
One more. And the last flaming skull is going to shoot not the magical brand of fireball, but just, you know, a mundane fireball at you. So that is going to be 14 to hit. Okay, so some more of the artifacts catch on fire as a fireball flies from another direction. And now it is Barrick's turn.
00:07:27
Speaker
You see the figure in the glass cylinder as all of this begins happening, banging on the glass and pointing at the Sivirish shard. Barak, let me out, please. I can help. And we just see him dancing. Or do we have a language? You can hear. We can hear. He can speak common now. Right. And what other languages can you speak, Barak? Elvin, Goblin.
00:08:10
Speaker
I don't know. I don't know if I don't know if I trust him.
00:08:19
Speaker
Inside, check. Barak reaches up and slides the dragon shard loot. Awesome. So the glass cylinder falls forward, or opens forward. I already have him in the initiative order, so we can just keep going. He just knew. Or maybe he could actually do the glass, you know. And then, do I still have an action? Yeah. Let that be your bonus action.
00:08:43
Speaker
And I will launch a pair of Eldritch Blasts from my Shadow Bow. So I'll target Dex, hurt one of them, yes? Yes. I'll target that one first. Natural 20. Yes. And a pair of nines.
00:09:13
Speaker
The 2d10s that I get to roll for the crit nice so 24 force damage
00:09:19
Speaker
Okay, the blast of energy from your magical longbow pierces into this thing's mouth as it explodes in a wave of magical energy and there's a pile of fine dust that piles on the floor below where it was floating. What was your total points? Sorry. 24.

A Mysterious Ally

00:09:35
Speaker
24? Okay. 24. That's a lot. To 55 points-ish. Somewhere between 30 going to 55 points to take that guy out. Yeah, that's fair. Then I will launch a second blast at the other one.
00:09:50
Speaker
That's 19. That's a hit. For 13 force damage. Okay, it is now Booyah's turn. So one is down? One is down. And one has been hit and the other two have not. Okay.
00:10:16
Speaker
Little Halo appears above Booyah's head. And he's going to... He's going to sharpshoot at the one that's already been hit. That's a 9. No. Going to try one more time. That's what you get for sharpshooting. Let's try it again. That's 26. Yes.
00:10:44
Speaker
That is 19 points of damage. And then Booyah's gonna get under a table.
00:10:57
Speaker
Okay One of the non-burning tables, I'm assuming yes, okay Now is what do we have we established that what we're looking for for Ikyl Tharn is in this room I can't what were we looking for for him? What's he wanting? He wants warforged parts anything dealing with hearts
00:11:15
Speaker
Anything dealing with was there anything I could have maybe grabbed that looked appealing as I was Going to the table to get under it. You've already said you're under the table fine Okay, it is now Drakir's turn All right, huh
00:11:39
Speaker
Fire's not gonna do anything here. That's what his most powerful weapon does. So, Drakir will instead just form a pair of his Shadowblades. As a bonus action, I will place my Slayer's Eye on one of them. Is there one? Have we damaged one of them now? Yeah, so one of them is damaged.
00:12:06
Speaker
Okay, I'll place my Slayer's Eye on that one, and then throw a Shadow Blade at it. Oof, that's definitely gonna... well, maybe... 14? That's actually a hit. Okay. First one takes 10 damage.
00:12:34
Speaker
And then second attack. The one that was damaged that you put your Slayer's Eye on explodes and falls into a pile of fine dust. Okay. Well, I'm extremely sure my second attack misses, so... What is it? You never know. Uh, nine? Yes, that does miss. Okay. No, nope, sorry. Ten. Oh, and that... Yes, it still misses. Okay, so now...
00:13:01
Speaker
the creature that you all have released unto the world comes flying out of their glass case let's see what happens next time

Exploration and Discoveries

00:13:19
Speaker
Oh, you dare. In the episode. Ten minute episode. I'm trying this new thing. We're going to record 40 episodes in one day. Minis. Okay, so it extends a hand towards one of the two remaining skulls. And the skull has to make a saving throw.
00:13:46
Speaker
I can't imagine they're particularly wise, or dexterous, or intelligent. That the Constitution's probably solid. Rolled poorly. So one of the, it extends its hand and you see part of the blue energy wave out and envelop this thing and it just, the flames in the skull
00:14:08
Speaker
just shut off and the skull remains whole and clatters to the floor. Sweet. Wow. If Drakir's eyes followed what happened, the magic that was emanating from the skull disappeared. Cool. Yeah.
00:14:26
Speaker
And you see the the flame energy kind of come back and you see it fade away into its arm It actually everyone give me insight checks real quick Six thirteen Sixteen barrack eight for here
00:14:53
Speaker
What did you get, Booyah? Six. Okay. Barak, you're the only one that notices and picks up on. It seems like it hurt him. Like he kind of grabs his arm and you get the sense that it was painful for him to do that. Okay, it is now.
00:15:13
Speaker
um back around the decks there's only one left right one left okay i'm gonna ribbon weave it uh why not because i did it last time 24 24 that's a hit four 29 points of of of damage is it close enough that i can hit it like a bait with like a baseball float in the air i have to ribbon weave it you really have to rip it yeah okay um
00:15:39
Speaker
Okay, so now it is its turn. It's going to use its opportunity, and what it assumes is its final opportunity. Oh. Need dexterity saving through decks.
00:15:54
Speaker
even though it's not gonna matter, but might as well try. So 20, yep, okay. So you take no damage. You say that like I always do good rolls and don't take damage. I can't. Okay, it is now Barrick's turn. So one left. One left. All right, let's Eldritch blast it. Blast it. 15. That's a hit.
00:16:27
Speaker
11 for stamina. It falls into ash.
00:16:34
Speaker
and the room grows quiet. Dex still knows that staring at this blue thing is not gonna make him understand it, so waiting for somebody else to ask what's going on, he looks, are there any Warforged parts that are good enough to throw in my bag? Yeah, you see some Warforged components that seem like Ikletar would be interested, some of them with interesting markings that you don't in any way understand, but he might. Yeah, so I throw those, anything that's still salvageable, I throw in my bag. The table is still on fire.
00:17:04
Speaker
along with the stones. You never did anything with your 20, by the way, Phillip. This is true. There's a fire extinguisher in the corner. Can we put the fire out? Well, of course, you've been in a can of facility before that had great water. Yes, the magical fire suppression system triggers, and the, but no fire alarms trigger. Okay.
00:17:34
Speaker
simply the suppression system, no alarms. Yeah, it's one of those burglar alarms that's not actually connected to the system, it's just to scare the burglar off. There's no burglar alarm, there's no alarm of any kind. It's a fire alarm designed to scare the fire away. It's an analogy. There's no alarm of any kind. I'm getting alarmed by how loud you're yelling. Fire, I don't want you to go adding something to the narrative that's gonna kill us. First, it's not my 20, and second, I was making an analogy.
00:18:07
Speaker
I hate this game I think above all else we can all agree it was a bad analogy language God language you're ruining all of the post credit scenes
00:18:27
Speaker
OK, so you are able to grab some Warforged components. You all are in this room with this creature. Booyah would tell him, thank you for help. I would resume what he was doing before, which was looking around to see if there's else that's not Warforged components in this room that's cool. I mean, I'm also interested in what else is around, yeah.
00:18:52
Speaker
Sure. Uh, the first thing that you're here finds, uh, searching about that is neat because that was the only qualifier I was given, um, is, um, a loot.
00:19:06
Speaker
that is magical, called a doss-loot. Doss-loot. Doss-loot. Now, is this, am I, correct me if I'm wrong, this is the second magical musical instrument Dracarys found with us, right? Or did Barak find the other one? What was the other magical musical instrument?
00:19:25
Speaker
The one in, what's his name's house? The Stormlord's Basement. There was a magical musical instrument. There was a lantern and a sword that singed in a discordant tone. A sword that made music, that's what it was. I knew there was... Well, kind of.
00:19:41
Speaker
The one with the one with the inscriptions on it. Yeah. So examining this with an arcane eye, using it, you can cast animal friendship protection from energy and protection from poison.
00:19:59
Speaker
But you must be attuned to it to play it. And... Met a question. Don't I also have to be a bard? No, you just have to be attuned to it. Okay, I thought I had to be attuned to a bard. Well... I mean, don't get tricked here, we'll take that. Yeah, I mean, it's a thing. It is a thing. Um, also... That's all I have, right?
00:20:29
Speaker
play tune for us. So Drakir kind of sighs as he grabs that because it is a thing and underneath it for being so kind as to take the thing that the DM laid out there. Drakir's eyes light up as he sees a sword with a razor's edge.
00:20:54
Speaker
Um, it's going to require somebody that knows a bit. Well, I need an arcana check to identify it. Well, here, I'll give it a shot. Thirteen. There, there is magic. All right. Drakir picks it up and walks over to Barrick with it. Oh, okay. With that check. Drakir knows it's a plus three sword.
00:21:20
Speaker
Nice. What manner of sword? Longsword? Yes, longsword. Sharp.
00:21:28
Speaker
Barak can also check to Drakir. Drakir knew he didn't learn everything. Barak looks at it and like for a second things about running a finger along the blade because it does seem unnaturally sharp and then stops because he realizes it is in fact a vorpal sword.
00:21:54
Speaker
that Drakir now has. Look at all the fun things that you guys know what they are. If you roll a 20, you decapitate it. Oh wow. You go snigger snack. I know that. Plus three sword, that's pretty sweet. I know that Vorpal Blade. Wow, okay. If it doesn't need its head to survive, then it takes an extra 6d8 damage.
00:22:19
Speaker
Wow. Well, because then decapitating it just it does nothing. Right. Sure. No, I get it. So. So cockroaches take sixty eight days because they don't either. Do you see anything on his side of the room looking around besides Ash? The listeners right now, some of the listeners right now are like, you guys are playing scavenger hunt. Why aren't you letting Barrick talk to this thing? We need to learn. They want. Yeah, I told it. Thank you. Yeah, they want to know.

Dialogue with the Creature

00:22:48
Speaker
I was having a great conversation. Thank you. Did you guys see each other's whole lives? So does... He knew Beric's name. Yeah, Beric and this thing know everything about each other. Okay, so he knows a lot about us that do. Cool. He knows everything that Beric experienced in Dolar, unlike somebody. He knows all of those things that Beric explained in the elevator while listening to Liliana.
00:23:18
Speaker
I asked. Dex you find a another stone it's different than the ones you've been seeking out. It's pale lavender and when you touch it and it then you feel like it's trying to fly away and after a moment it manages to get out of your grasp and then starts orbiting around your head. Just for the sake of
00:23:46
Speaker
you knowing what this thing is. Jeff knowing, not Dex. Yes. You can now use your reaction to cancel a fourth level spell or lower cast by a creature you can see in his targeting you. Once it is dispelled, 20 levels
00:24:04
Speaker
It burns out, turns to Delgrain, loses its magic. So I can do it 20 times. Oh, no. No, you can do 20 levels of spell. Five fourth level. So if you only have like three levels left before it cancels and something casts a fourth level spell, you can't cancel it. Right, right. So. And it just, it hovers around my head all the time? Yeah, it's just orbiting around your head. Why do you do these things that make me more conspicuous? That's pretty sweet. You have an Ioun stone. Yeah, that's cool. That's true. I mean, neat. I think that's awesome. I'm always more conspicuous. Everything that happens to me.
00:24:33
Speaker
Has Dex really ever tried to keep a low profile in this campaign since abandoning Lyle, the appearance of Lyle? Here's the thing, Vern is not any more inconspicuous than any other wildly colored elf. But if you say it's the one with the thing circling his head and the four foot long hair, you really narrowed it down to one dude. What I'm suggesting to you is that wildly colored elves are conspicuous.
00:25:02
Speaker
Not necessarily. Yes. Not necessarily. Yes. Hey, those skin and hair options were in the book. Other people, I'm sure, have taken them. Moon elves are nowhere in the Eberron campaign setting. You're very conspicuous. Yeah, I think you're wrong. Booyah, what's your walking speed? 30 feet. OK. OK. Is anybody else looking for things in the room?
00:25:32
Speaker
I mean, I, you know, Eric will join in now. Yeah, no kidding. But yes, these guys pulling stuff. He's like, Oh, but you're going to go look around place. Have cool stuff. Uh, because it's 23 perception check 17 for boot. Yeah.
00:25:49
Speaker
This blue guy is just staring at us like, what are you guys doing? Look around the room friend. You'll find something cool. Hey, what became of that Sivarish shard, Barrick? It's attached to the thing. It was just the latch. No, you were able to pull it out free. Yeah. I assumed it was like a linchpin. Yeah. Barrick has it. Yeah. Or a cotter pin. Do, Hey, Hey, Barrick. Um, you want me to hold onto that in this thing or do you want to keep it with you?
00:26:21
Speaker
Doesn't Barrick also have a bag of holding now, the one we bought? Oh yes. That's what you are hearing the other one. I was thinking it was Booyah, he's got his bag. Yeah, yeah, totally. Yes, we now have a substantial surplus of bags of holding. Booyah full, no, but nothing else in Booyah bag. Okay, Barrick, fittingly enough, you find a book.

Dungeon Challenges

00:26:44
Speaker
Yay, books. It's a gross book.
00:26:50
Speaker
It's got 144 pages. I don't. Because I'm keeping pausing. I got that white cloak on. That's right. Could you elaborate? I'm attempting to. It's just real gross. It's just like so nasty. Just the grossest book alive. Alive? Maybe. It's a grizzly looking book. Kind of disturbing. You get a bad vibe. Grizzlies. And there's a tongue pinned to the cover of it.
00:27:21
Speaker
You. I know. I said gross. What. OK. Do I know anything about. Give me an arcane check. Arcana check. 26. OK.
00:27:40
Speaker
Examining the book, flipping through the first few pages, you see indecipherable scrawls, and then the remaining pages are blank and pristine, as if nobody's even touched them. You know that if you attune to this, you can use it as a spellbook and arcane focus, and while holding it, you can use a bonus action to cast a spell that you've written in the tome without expending any spell slots or using any verbal or somatic components.
00:28:10
Speaker
As a bonus action? Once you use this property of the tome can't be used again until the next dawn. While attuned to this book, you can also remove the tongue from the book's cover. If you do so, all spells written in the book are permanently erased. Can you then write additional spells in it? Yes, basically it's resetting it. Okay, so it doesn't have to have the tongue on it to function? That's correct. Interesting. Tongue's an eraser.
00:28:40
Speaker
Right now. Yeah, I get it. And there are no spells in it. There's just indecipherable scrolling or... Yes, that you can't understand currently. Okay. But looking at it, it doesn't look like... I would recognize it if it was just a spell I didn't understand. Yes. Yeah. Okay. Yes. Okay. Well, um... Booyah, would you like to give me a roll? I have 17. So you got a gross book.
00:29:04
Speaker
I have a halo circle stone. Ion stone. Yes, I know. Now that it's called an ion stone. I'm just. And here has quite a sword. Yes. Yes. A wicked sword. And Doss Lute. I'll be right back. Oh, what?
00:29:36
Speaker
And I think Booyah is about to find some loose hard candy on the ground. Yeah, loose hard candy. A small deck of cards. That's a deck of cards. Oh no. They're just X-Men playing cards.
00:29:57
Speaker
I don't know that this is what Booyah needs. Which is probably why Booyah got it. Because Booyah is about to riffle through these bad boys. Like just, ooh neat. You don't know what cards. You find a small deck of cards. Okay. There are 34 cards in the deck. Oh no. Booyah has never heard of anything weird about a deck of cards. Are they enclosed in a case? No, they are loose sitting on the table. Loose.
00:30:27
Speaker
Not even the package? Beric is talking to the spell thing. Would Dex know what those are? No, nobody outside of our realm of reality who plays D&D would know what these are. Except for maybe, maybe Meric's to canon. Like the person who made them know what they are. Yes, and the person that stuck them down here to never be seen again.
00:30:54
Speaker
That's what you see sitting on the table. I want everyone to know that Eric has on many occasions stated very specifically that he was never going to do this to his campaign. Hey, hey, you don't know what I've done. Calm down. So Booyah sees his deck cards on the table. And Booyah is, I want everybody to know that Booyah is Booyah. I think this is going to be glorious. Absolutely. Whatever else happens, this is going to be awesome. You got to play this true. You got to.
00:31:21
Speaker
So Booyah sees the cards, he goes, oh. Before the world ends, Beric would like to talk to the spell creature for a moment. Okay, yeah. So what Booyah's looking about, you. What will you do now? Well, I don't know much, but I can feel with every minute that passes by
00:31:50
Speaker
the whatever created me slipping away and now that I know what you know of the world I I suppose I'll go live I'll try to do something before I fade away because I
00:32:18
Speaker
I saw what happened to you twice. And I don't think that's what happens to me. So unless you need something of me, I'm just going to try and go enjoy every second that I have before I return to wherever I came from. I don't have any right to ask anything.
00:32:49
Speaker
Well, I'd only say that because I don't have much of a purpose. But thank you for liberating me. I was caged and knew that I was going to die there in a cage. It's odd to be betrayed that way. It's odd to be betrayed that way by
00:33:19
Speaker
the person that created you to be abandoned, but...
00:33:28
Speaker
I kind of, I overhear this. I mean, I'm, uh, and I, the room's not big. Yeah. And so I, I kind of turn around like, listen to that. I kind of like, so, uh, like, did you have like a. A purpose, uh, you know, beyond, I mean, you keep saying you were created. Are you sure that this guy made you or did maybe you just, well, considering he threw me in this room and left, I.
00:33:53
Speaker
I don't think I was supposed to be created. Yeah. Like, I mean, cause I was like, he didn't, he wasn't like siphoning energy off of you or. No, I think this was an accident of, um, of an experiment that Lord Merrick's was doing. Right.
00:34:13
Speaker
And he said out loud, did he say it out loud six months? No, you saw six months. Yeah. So clear. I, Dex doesn't know this, but clearly Merrick's to Kenneth is breaking the rules vis-a-vis making new war forged. Yes. No one's surprised. He's a real. I think by the evidence of the things that we've been fighting in here, we could, we could say that.
00:34:34
Speaker
Well, I mean, I don't know. Stuff is stuff. Laying around in his vault. Stuff is stuff. You know what? I know what I did. Well said. I heard what I said. Shut up. That was deep.
00:34:47
Speaker
as the i was looking around it looks over his shoulder and he says you know need to go off of the lonely gold awesome and be friend don't be myself i don't think there's anything it can tell me and i don't really know how to advise it because i don't know what what it's capable of other than the fact that it seems to just turn off the magic in that flaming skull uh...
00:35:20
Speaker
I mean, certainly if you want to stay and travel with us, that's fine. We'd be happy to have you along. But you should know that what we're doing, well, you know what we're doing. I have no idea what's safe for you. What we're doing is certainly not safe for us. But I don't know what's safe or dangerous
00:35:50
Speaker
to you because I don't know what you are other than you seem to be some kind of intelligence created by one of Merrick's experiments but I don't know what I don't know what would be able to harm you or not I don't know either I mean I I don't know what you all are up to or why you're here or
00:36:19
Speaker
Well, I assumed that would have been information he would have obtained when he was in my life. That's fair. He would have picked up on some of it. Yeah, that's fair. He knows everything. It seems that you all have a pretty grand purpose to stop whatever is trying to kill all of you and all of that. Yes.
00:36:44
Speaker
I mean, I'm more than happy to be a part of your merry band that sits on your boat, but I don't know how much more help I'm going to be beyond that. As you could see, I'm capable of doing what that cleric did to you when you tried to fly that one time of just turning magic off because I think I'm made of magic and so I have some level of control over it, but
00:37:14
Speaker
It hurts to do that like I kind of absorb the magic into me and so I get the sense that If I do that too much I might overload so Yeah, I'm probably just gonna go to
00:37:32
Speaker
I was going to say Stormreach, but now I remember that that place isn't friendly anymore. It seemed like there were a lot of good bars there. You went to a lot of bars down there. I'll probably go find someplace in Sharn to have fun and hopefully not get killed for being a weird looking person. I would be careful in Sharn.
00:37:59
Speaker
The man who created you, uh, spends a great deal of time here and the organization that he's a part of, uh, would want to get ahold of you. Would Joanne be better? I think maybe gray wall. You checked that out. You there love. You wouldn't be the weirdest looking guy in gray wall. I don't know what you need and I don't know what you'll be able to actually do out in the world. Um, so.
00:38:29
Speaker
Certainly, I imagine it would be safer for you than Charne. I don't know. He kind of looks over at the table and then walks over and starts pilfering through finding bits of armor and clothing and You get the sense that he's like the equivalent of like a level 17 character by the time he gets done putting all these artifact level pieces of armor on but now he
00:38:54
Speaker
resembles a humanoid form, like his eyes are still glowing bright blue underneath the helmet that he slips on that covers most of his face. But now he just looks like a weird creature rather than something that you're not sure what it is. So he's given himself some form by stealing from his creator. Well, all right, maybe I'll
00:39:21
Speaker
I'll, I'll head out of here. I'll, I'll head to draw him and kind of figure things out there. But thank you once again for liberating me. Um, how did you all get down? Well, I know how you got down here. Do you think I could walk out through the party? I was going to say maybe, uh, instead you, yeah, if you're not in a rush, we don't plan on being down here much longer. Uh, if we all left together, perhaps, uh, but don't you have to like kidnap money somebody before you go?
00:39:50
Speaker
Oh, hell. Yeah. I mean, I don't know if you'll make it out through the party or not. I wouldn't go out the front door. You'd rather conspicuous.
00:40:03
Speaker
I don't know how to fix that. Was there an exterior door in the kitchen that somebody could go in and out of? Not one that you saw. OK, because if he could get out of the vault and just go straight out the kitchen door. Here. I mean, I'll just hang tight here, I guess. You stay away from us. Do you want me to come with you for the rest? I don't think hang tight is the best use of what you can do.
00:40:31
Speaker
Well, although it sure did hurt you to take that magic away and I'd like you to make it. I mean, I could follow you all at a safe distance, I guess. Listen, do you have to like walk on the ground or anything? No, I can fly. And he kind of floats a foot and a half above the air, the ground.
00:40:50
Speaker
Right. I'm thinking at the moment you might be more conspicuous in all that get up at the moment than you were just as a floating light.
00:41:05
Speaker
He kind of sighs and then everything kind of phases through him and clatters to the ground. Well, if you can phase through things, then you should just, you know, head straight up. Absolutely. Yeah. Okay, get on out of here. Didn't realize that was an option for you. Neither did I, honestly, until that moment. Well, if you can phase through walls, then there should be a problem. I could have gone through that glass the whole sun up.
00:41:29
Speaker
Well, I, I assume that the crystal is doing the crystal prop. That's why I didn't think I could phase through things because I couldn't phase through the glass. That's okay. That's probably what it was. That makes sense. Anyway, that's logical. I pull out, I pull out the spell shard and show him the schematic that you just go straight up from here. I think you'll, you'll come out in the streets. Okay. Well, maybe I'll see you all later. Hey, wait, I mean, you don't know what you can do. Think about going invisible.
00:42:00
Speaker
I'm thinking about it. Was he able to? You could still see him go straight up. Um, so he just kind of shrugs and says, okay, well, goodbye forever.
00:42:12
Speaker
Bye. And he phases up through the ceiling. Booyah, you have a deck of cards sitting in front of you. Who gets sleazy? Well, all this was going on. Booyah had absolutely mindingly picked the cards up and kind of shuffling them a little bit and says, this is a funny place to find play cards. Hey, Dex, I finally played that crazy place. Fine, maybe we play a game later. Hey, look. OK, now, as you pull one off mentally,
00:42:40
Speaker
Is your intention to just pull one off of the top? Yeah, I was just going to show him I have a card. OK. This is one of two things. OK. So you pull the card out of the deck and hold it up. And coming flying out of the card, you see a figure in long green robes holding a gnarled tree branch staff. And it looks straight at decks and extends.
00:43:10
Speaker
the staff out and vines fly out at you, Dex, what do you do? I try to jump out of the way of the vines flying at me. You jump out of the way and the vines kind of stop and recoil and it looks, it continues to look at Dex. And are you gonna do anything at it? It's an elf, by the way.
00:43:37
Speaker
An elf jumped out of the card. An elf druid has just attacked you. What do you do? I attack it back. Okay. Give me an attack roll. I pull out my knife.
00:43:53
Speaker
Okay. It's a 21. 21, you hit. Do I get to do damage like normal? Like this is just another- Just roll base damage. No sneak attack. No sneak attack. 13. 13. Your ribbon weave flies out and swipes through the druid and you see the image of this druid become kind of translucent as your ribbon weave flies through without making contact with anything.
00:44:18
Speaker
And it then, once again, moves its staff and vines shoot at you, and the vines pass through you, not harming you at all. And you realize it's an illusion. Well, I breathe heavily. I say, Booyah, put those down. Well, these cards would be cool when they'll tell what cards do. Yeah. We use illusion. We trick somebody. Well, I don't think it's, what the hell is it?
00:44:46
Speaker
You see card we have pull card and and druid pop out and I'm not real we fool people Used to help I just use it help us How is this thing is this thing still just whipping vines at me? Yeah, I mean it's still it's still going the card but the card back the illusion wisps away see that illusion card
00:45:14
Speaker
I mean, that is interesting. I wet myself, which is a bummer. You have the deck of illusions. That could be useful. Yeah, all right. That's not nearly as terrifying as... So, this thing is pulling up and away.
00:45:33
Speaker
I think we need to make our way towards the orb, I suppose. Yeah, okay. Which, according to our map, we should just go back through everything we've been through once, back to the center room. Okay. Or, yeah, back to the center room. That's the only way to get the other branches. You're able to do so? Everything dead is still dead as we walk through? Yes. Okay.
00:46:00
Speaker
So Drakir knows that from the center room it was 60 feet to the south and on the bottom floor. So we need to go through one of the south doors.
00:46:14
Speaker
Is this place on fire? Because we need an elevator. It's actually through the archway that we need to go through. Yeah, you know from the map that the archway leads to the elevator. So yeah, you see a set of double doors inset to a wall about 15 feet in from the archway. Has it got a button? Yes.
00:46:44
Speaker
I walk up and I knock on the door. Um, hitting the button, the double door is open, but there's no elevator. There's just a shaft.

Fungi and Hidden Doors

00:46:54
Speaker
This elevator shaft goes down about, you would say 150 feet to the bottom floor. Huh.
00:47:05
Speaker
Um, has really, really long dark vision. Uh, so he looks down the elevator shaft. Do I see the top of an elevator car? How far? No, you don't. Okay. Well, you said a hundred and what? 50. 50. Uh, actually yes. In his shadowy form, which he still has going. Drake here does have dark vision out to that, out that far. Good Lord. Okay. You do not see an elevator car anyway. It's almost as if it was removed.
00:47:36
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Well, of course it is because this is where they screwed up. Uh, Drakir looks like, uh, that is, that is no car. Uh, I don't know how I would get, um, I'm not sure how to get down there. Uh, Drakir, can you still levitate folks? Oh, uh, actually no. Uh, when we created more stuff specific to the Umbridge and, uh, some of the magical things they could do got altered. Uh, Barrick.
00:48:09
Speaker
uh... when you were putting a whole of your extraneous things in the grain sack i didn't you put an enormous number of pythons uh... and a lot of rope in there i did you know what we do have roping and yeah i did i did do that uh... let's see what let's see what i could give me the bag of pythons let's see according to this you know what
00:48:32
Speaker
I only have five pythons now because I used five to jam a trap. So according to this I have 50 feet of hemp rope and five pythons. Anybody else have rope? Surely.
00:48:50
Speaker
I think every pat comes with 50 feet of rope. You have 200 feet of rope between all of you and 35 pythons.
00:49:09
Speaker
Some really that was the joke is you were so bad at that. I'm gonna know I it's still the joke Eric Well, okay, I'm rigging stuff do I have any pipe do I do I roll for square not yes roll for square not Plus what I what what plus what? You square those knots the dots are squared. Yes so
00:49:34
Speaker
Uh, Eric has been thinking for a minute and he says, so the, um, the bottom of the shaft, this is where we think the, they broke through into Kyber. I mean, somewhere on the level at the bottom of the shaft. Yeah. All right. And he looks over at Drake here and says, uh, I'm going to do something now that's rather alarming. Um, and he allows Arab us to take over.
00:50:02
Speaker
And so the shadows sort of boil out and then harden into this armored suit. Dex is still put off by this, but trying to act naturally goes, oh, hey, hey, hey, Erebus. Give us the spikes. I hand him the spike. I don't say no to this guy. Erebus takes them and then just moves over to the edge of the shaft, looks down and then jumps across and just clings to the wall.
00:50:33
Speaker
Hey, we need the spikes. We can't all do that. He jumps back over to your side of the wall and begins and jams one of them into the wall and then makes his way down away and jams another one into the wall and then makes his way down a ways and begins making a line of them so that we don't have to hammer them in on our way down and we can just anchor the rope to it.
00:50:58
Speaker
uh... and then once when there's a line of them he begins anchoring the rope along along the course of it i think just staring at you philip in astonishment anger of what you're you're capable of as a character dex turns and looks at rick here who i assume is a little taken aback he goes i know right every dang time every place we go something new happens not just you know you'll hear you learn to go with it that's all i can say you learn to go with it what happened to him
00:51:28
Speaker
You know, apparently, I missed all of that. I was talking to my knife, that's another story. Okay, that didn't really happen. No, I mean, I think I would explain as much as, as much as Dex knows that he also thinks would be appropriate for him to share. Like, it's not his story, and he doesn't, and he knows, Barry gets mad when he tells people, when Dex tells people his name.
00:51:52
Speaker
He's like, this is my friend, Barak. Thanks a lot, Dex. He already started dark. So he keeps it vague, also because he doesn't understand it. Helps him keep it vague. Okay. So after some time, you are able to get to the bottom of the shaft, unmolested. I think Erebus has enough of...
00:52:14
Speaker
enough of Barak's personality to him at this point, that as Dex is climbing down the ropes painstakingly, he literally walks along the wall next to him. Yeah, no, sure. That totally tracks with Barak and Dex's relationship.
00:52:35
Speaker
I think that was in character just looking at Barrick walking down the deck saying that out loud. Nope. Yeah, I'm sure that tracks. Honestly, yeah. Be full of surprise. Okay. Yeah. You think you're a, you're a, you're a, you're a, you're a real funny, uh, I don't know what entity of destruction there, Erebus. Are you still a sword? I don't even know. Are you, are you still a sword? We are a weapon in her hand.
00:53:03
Speaker
Okay. I'm, you know, Beric used to talk about you and straight answers and I'm starting to see it. We are what we are. Yeah, we are what we are. Stuff is stuff. I'm with you, buddy. In order to make the conversation easier, Erebus begins to crawl face first down the shaft along next to you.
00:53:31
Speaker
You know what? I don't want to hold you back. I don't want to hold you back. Why don't we just meet at the bottom? As you wish. Dex shutters and flips him off at the same time as soon as he turns his back. He can't see behind him, can he? No, I don't have all-around vision.
00:53:56
Speaker
yet. Okay so you all reach the bottom of the shaft. After a moment of looking around you all see coming out so there is two doorways to the south as is indicated on the map. Through these doorways though
00:54:16
Speaker
you see, like, purplish black, flesh-like fungus growing through the door and onto the walls and floor of this room. Is this similar to the stuff that we saw with the mind flayer and the flesh bridge and all that stuff? I mean, it's similar but not the same. Like, it seems pretty fitting for
00:54:43
Speaker
what you all saw there. And Drakir, this is, yeah. Drakir, you could actually give me a knowledge. I'll do either arcana or nature. Yeah, I'll take nature.
00:55:00
Speaker
19 19 yeah, you recognize this is a kind of fungus that If you get within five feet of it Spores will erupt out. Oh And it's covering the floor and walls. Well There is enough of a path to get through the from your perspective left-hand door and
00:55:29
Speaker
without triggering it because there are two doors at the bottom of the shed. The easternmost door we can go through. Yes.
00:55:39
Speaker
Can you guide me as to how our current situation corresponds to the map that we have? You are in the room with the elevator indicated on it. Is that the little black bar across the room? Yes. The two doors at the bottom, the one that is just a straight shot to the room is the one that you can go through. Oh, I see. And they all lead to the same
00:56:06
Speaker
Right. I'm noticing an issue with the map. Are you now? I don't like this at all. Because that's where they sealed it off to. Son of a gun. That is a problem.
00:56:25
Speaker
We just, you who can't see the map listeners, we just realized that there's like four rooms that aren't connected by a hallway to where we are right now. They're just kind of off in the distance. So that'll be fun to go. To cure having some concept of dealing with these kinds of things takes out the giant sword again and lights it up.
00:56:47
Speaker
Since I honestly don't know, but I assume that fungus-based creatures are somewhat vulnerable to fire. And he will take a moment and concentrate again, just to get a bearing on any groups of aberrations that are in our vicinity. When I do this, I said um enough times in the sentence,
00:57:20
Speaker
When I do this, it reveals which of my favorite enemies are present, their number, the creature's general direction. If there are multiple groups, you learn this information about each group. I'd like to learn about the closest thing rather than I'm not going to ask you to give me details on every group of aberrations within five miles. I'd like to hear about them. You can sense general vicinity.
00:57:42
Speaker
Um, all of them are to the south of you. Right. Um, you can sense, um, three, uh, illithids and you sense another aberrant presence that is familiar yet elusive. Hmm. Okay.
00:58:17
Speaker
There are, I know this will not be surprising, but there are many mind flaters here and other aberrations. And those are, I just gave you the ones that you, you get a sense based on distance art in the vault with you. Right. So this room that you are currently in,
00:58:43
Speaker
The door that you can get through is a wooden door. The other one is too covered in the fungus for you to really get a good sense of. So basically you could hug the easterly wall of this room and make it through that door without making the fungus go crazy. Okay. Then that's the route.
00:59:13
Speaker
That's what I want to do. Um, so this isn't, is the door open? No. So the fungus has grown through the door essentially.

The Magical Fountain

00:59:23
Speaker
Yes. Weird. Sorry. My phone is not cooperating with my attempts to look at this map right now. There we go. Okay.
00:59:41
Speaker
Well, there being a door, Trickier has the wherewithal to know how this stuff works. So he's going to give this a minute. Oh, no. All right. Actually, he's got pretty good perception. Trickier will examine this door and see if it's since, yeah. Trickier's going to take a look at this door.
01:00:13
Speaker
11 you do not sense any traps. Okay. But I mean, just the, the, the fungus, it's like molded through the door. Is the door just covered in mold or what's the, yeah, it's covered in the fungus. Oh, so I can't even get very close to it. I know. Yeah.
01:00:30
Speaker
Drakir steps back, thinks about it for a minute, and then decides to let you all in on this. This material, this fungus, it releases spores when you get close to it within five feet. Getting through this door may be a problem. Why did he have to think about it for a minute?
01:00:58
Speaker
before he told us. And he's deciding whether he cared. It was a sweet moment. He decided yet. He decided yet. He cares. He's thinking about this from the wrong direction. He decided to tell you. He decided that he was better off with other people down here to help him. Yes. And it took him a minute to do that. Okay, anyway. It always takes to hear a minute to decide whether he's better off with other people. Fair enough.
01:01:24
Speaker
Um, so Dex can carefully walk up to the door that's not covered in the stuff. Yes. No, they're, oh, that's the door I thought I was looking at. Oh no. I thought, I thought the door that we could get access to was also molded through. No, I apologize. That's okay. I was just, I just, you know, it's fine. And I would like to check it for traps. Go ahead. Ooh, that's a, I rolled a two. So 13.
01:01:55
Speaker
You do not detect any traps. Is it locked? Are you trying to open it? Hey y'all, I'm gonna open this door. Um, on guard and whatnot. Yeah, I open it. It is not locked.
01:02:10
Speaker
And it opens. As they tend to. You see a, well. Short hallway. Yeah, short hallway leading to another door that is. And this hallway is clear of the fungus that wants to. Yes. Get us? It's an iron door. Okay. I would like to invite everyone to join me for a quick meeting in the hallway.
01:02:40
Speaker
And I say, Hey guys, uh, that map, uh, pull that up again, Eric, uh, sorry. Erebus Erebus. Erebus does so. I say, um, y'all notice anything hinky about this map, uh, down here in the Southern quadrant?
01:02:57
Speaker
And I wait for a few moments and none of them pick up on it because, God, they're dense. And so I say, if you notice down here, we're going to go into this room on the other side of this door. And the only thing we're going to be able to do after that is go through one of these two archways right back to the room we were just in. So it would appear as though we got to break through something somewhere.
01:03:22
Speaker
right like are we all on the same page here that we don't go back once we're in this room our only option is to break a hole and not to go all the way down the length of a hallway are we simpatico if that is even an option yes well right if it's not an option we won't do it uh but it appears as though somewhere and i kind of point along
01:03:52
Speaker
this line here somewhere along here either straight down or even at the end of this hallway here. We're gonna have to break through into the next chamber. So maybe their maybe their door somewhere can't see. Yeah I mean we'll we'll check all sorts of stuff. I mean run our hands along the walls and see. Okay. Uh but but we're in agreement right like other side of this door is our when we start getting
01:04:20
Speaker
I checked the door for traps. Okay. I get an actual one. Oh. There's all kinds of traps. You do not find any traps. I didn't think I did. But suddenly one appeared. Here is a trap. Instead, the door is a mouth. Oh gosh. Is the door locked? No. I say, fellas, gotta tell ya. For some reason, cosmic reason.
01:04:50
Speaker
And even in my beautiful white cloak, I have a bad feeling about trying to open this door. Erebus, give it a shot. Erebus Eldritch blasts the door. Deck stepped back first. It's an iron door, right? Oh, it's iron? I'm sorry. I missed that part. No, if you don't want Eris to do it, I'm the one who rolled the one I will open the door.
01:05:21
Speaker
Are you not the thief? Alright fine, I open the door. Okay, are you not the immortal? Give me a constitution saving throw. Oh well, I'm done. Not 100% sure on the last account. Constitution you say there, huh?
01:05:41
Speaker
Sixteen. Sixteen. Okay, so you succeeded, so you only take the damage. Congratulations. Okay, I mean fair. Hey, you take eight points of poison damage. Okay.
01:05:56
Speaker
Oh, so the con was to see if I was poisoned at that point? Well, it might come up again. I don't want to ruin the surprise. So just at the last moment, Drakir, you notice as Dex pulls this door open, there's a small patch of this fungus on the doorway that explodes and rains these spores down on Dex as soon as he opens the door.
01:06:17
Speaker
But the motion of opening the door seems to have torn the fungus apart to where it's no longer a threat to anyone else. Unfortunately, Jakku didn't have a full minute to process whether or not he wanted to tell Dex to stop. I feel like I warned you about the fungus.
01:06:33
Speaker
Yeah, I don't understand. I'm sorry. Fungus. Strange sort of plant that grows in damp environments and feeds on. Dex walks into the room. Just because I called your character dense. You see some more graffiti on one of the walls in this room as soon as you walk in that says I'd rather be anywhere else.
01:07:06
Speaker
Who has taken the time in these situations to express themselves through street art? Can I perception check around the rest of the room? Sure. Is there stuff in there that is worth looking at? Or is it just an empty room with some art on the wall? There is a broken wooden chest on the east side of the room that all you see are pieces of a broken chest.
01:07:25
Speaker
You know the thought comes to my mind.
01:07:37
Speaker
Detect magic. Thank you. You do not detect anything. You can go and give me your perception check though. Whoever wants to. 16. Neither of mine are worth mentioning.
01:07:58
Speaker
22. Um Booyah, you notice as you're looking around the room, you see where somebody has scrawled this graffiti. Um right on the well near the uh along the southern wall near the eastern side. Um where they have painted the first part of their message. You see where they've painted. You notice seams.
01:08:22
Speaker
to where you get the sense that there might be something going on with the wall. Perhaps a secret door. Where is that on the southern end of the room? What's the, well, I'll wait till this is pointed out to us. Yeah, it's on the southern edge of the room. Because I was just going to say, if it's on the eastern wall, don't open that door. And then that was the graffiti that said, I'd rather be anywhere but here. I'd rather be anywhere else. OK.
01:08:50
Speaker
Hey, I think come over this way, Booyah think he finds something on the wall, look like Seem. But somebody need come check. Dex, that'd be you. Yeah, I know. I'm coming over. There must be investigation to see if it looks like Fungus. I thought this room was clear, Fungus. It is clear, Fungus, except for that. Oh, it is? Yeah. Yeah. All right.
01:09:18
Speaker
So I walk over. I would have mentioned that there was fungus covering the seams if there was. Investigation? Yeah. Glancing through the archways as you all get in this room, you see the two hallways that lead west. You just see the fungus growing throughout those halls.
01:09:36
Speaker
All right. All right. So I make an investigation check of the seams to see if or how, how you would go about doing something with this information. Not great. Uh, 15, 15. Um, you get a sense that it, um, I, it's a secret door that somebody painted over the seams to make it a little bit more obvious. Um, you can not find any kind of mechanism though to open it. Right.
01:10:06
Speaker
And is this something we would do investigation for or perception? Investigation. Can I do this? Can I kind of knock on the outside of the exterior, outside of the seam, knock on the inside of the seam? Is it the same material or does it just look like stone? Like is it hollow? It is stone. Okay. And the floor stone? Eric has a 17 investigation.
01:10:28
Speaker
Okay. Um, yes, the floors are stone to answer your question. Booyah. Um, based on what you can tell Barak, it seems like you just got to push it. Well, if it's a push matter of pushing, then Erebus pushes. Okay. Give me a strength check. Is Erebus very strong? Erebus seems like he'd be very strong. Well.

Mind Flayers Confrontation

01:10:53
Speaker
Sure, narratively it does seem like Erebus would be very strong, but Erebus has Beric stats. Oh, well then, yeah, no. Erebus was putting, uh, pythons into the stone by hand, so... Narratively it would seem to make a lot of sense, but I don't have three character sheets, just two. Yeah, no. What are you trying? You try to push the door? Push through? That appears to be what is necessary.
01:11:21

Booyah.com. Booyah, little bow wiry. In Arabic, it's be helping so that Booyah still has advantage. I was going to ask, can a couple of us lean in? Yeah, you all can collectively push on the door. Fifteen. Okay, and what did you get, Erebus? Oh, I'm sorry. I thought we were, I thought helping just gave advantage. Mine was a five. Okay. So. I'll put a shoulder on it. I mean.

You guys supposed to help boy y'all push boy y'all pushing the heart don't feel like you help much All right. Well, I've been hurt a lot. I just coughed up a lung from these spores here You want to come in and put a hand on?
01:12:09
Speaker
It doesn't do much. What did you get? A three. We literally just needed a one. Dex was one short of getting the final nudge. I like this teamwork dynamic we've established. Yeah, good job everybody. You finally got it open. Like all four of us. Doors are our greatest enemy. It has been proven.
01:12:32
Speaker
Okay, so yes, the stone finally grinds open and you find yourself on the other side staring at this horizontal hallway. So right or left? Well, we have the map, which room do we want to go to?
01:12:55
Speaker
Sorry, I've just lost the map. Left will take you to the easternly most room. Right will take you to the middle room.
01:13:07
Speaker
I mean, the, the thing he needs is not in the middle room likely. Cause it's not the, it's not the hardest one to get to, you know what I mean? Well, when we were in the center room, it was 60 feet south of us. So it very well could be the center. That's true. Well, let's go check it out first.
01:13:33
Speaker
Okay. So we're gonna hang a right. Oh. And I will check for traps, because fool me once. Shame on you. Fool me twice. Yeah, that's Dex. Natural 20. Oh, wait. You do not find any traps. I do see. At the end of the hallway at the corner,
01:14:04
Speaker
Um, you see a fountain, um, a very simple little fountain, um, with clean pure looking water, uh, flowing out of the, uh, the mouth of a bull, like into a small basin and kind of circling. That is my favorite way to drink water is from the mouth of a bull. So this is certainly appealing. Um, that's the, uh, the crest of house Kenneth bull is.
01:14:33
Speaker
Yeah. Oh, cool. Hey. A Gorgon, technically, but it's got the head of a bull. Right, sure. Hey, Drakir, I don't really trust that water. This clean, pure water in the dungeon. Would you mind checking to see if that has any sort of medical-icity? Does it? Yes. What is the nature of the magic? Healing, pushing. Um,
01:15:05
Speaker
Conjuration. This magic summons things. It conjures
01:15:26
Speaker
I don't know what it will conjure, but it will conjure something. So that really could just be clean water that's been conjured down here? It could be. It is not safe to drink the water of Kyber, so if they were working down here, a source of genuinely clean water would be beneficial. Oh, that's cool. There are spells which do this.
01:15:52
Speaker
Well, hearing that, the odds that it might just be regular water and not being... I wouldn't say that Dex is risk averse, but he's learning lessons all the time. I don't think he'd be tempted by this water, but I can't speak for everybody. Anybody thirsty? Not Erebus, try it. He'll try anything.
01:16:20
Speaker
Erebus will attempt an arcana check to see if he can understand what it does. Okay. 25. 25. Okay. You recognize this as
01:16:35
Speaker
Well, you don't recognize it as anything because it's not anything you've encountered before, but it's not create food or water. No, it is not. Um, it is in fact some form of cursed water that appears to carry some level of aberration magic with it. So it seems to be a trap.
01:17:01
Speaker
We will not drink this. Well, if you won't, then I won't. What would you like to do with your 20? Yeah, make it a healing potion fountain. And I'm just going to guzzle, and I'm going to fill my water skin and my haversack, my bag of holding with healing potion. I don't know. And grain? So it's just...
01:17:25
Speaker
What happens when you mix healing potion and magical grain? Do you know how quinoa is good for you? Now it's like really good for you. It's like quinoa infused with kale. It's gonna taste terrible. It's like acai, berry, and quinoa. You're just gonna reach in at one point and it's just going to be bread. Like the whole interior of the bag will just be filled with bread. Bread? Also delicious. In one giant hunk. Yeah, but it's gonna be bread that can heal you.
01:17:56
Speaker
I'll start a religion. That's what I'm gonna do. Anyway, with my 20... Let me look at the map again. Can we... This is a big one. You tell me. With my 20, can Drakir get one free locate object? Sure. Oh. Alright. Done. I attempt to locate the dragon.
01:18:25
Speaker
Or let me see your map. It is located in this room. I do it. I just wanted to be confirmed. It's the one that's the most hard to get away. And I literally said, we know it's not there because it's not the hardest one to get to. So from where we are right now, it's at 11 o'clock. Yes. Okay.
01:18:47
Speaker
Yeah, the whole the fountain is at the the curve of the hallway like before we turn around so I'm gonna walk past the fountain to the door okay, and that door is a stone door I'm gonna check for traps That's a 23 no 22 no traps and is it locked yes well
01:19:12
Speaker
It was bound to happen eventually. Try the key. Try the key. I'm going to try the key. The key works. Beric collapses in relief on the bear. Who am I? I'm going to tell you, Phillip, here's what Beric does. Beric would. But Deribus is currently controlling him. Dex collapses on the ground in relief. The desk key worked. And then he looks in the door. OK. As the door open.
01:19:44
Speaker
as the door opens. Earlier you sang the discordant song and I let it slide. You open the door to the site of two turning heads as two mind flayers turn and look at you. I knew we were going to catch some things, some mind flayers and some stuff. End of episode.

Thank you all so much for listening. Once again, I'm your dungeon master, Eric. I'm Philip. Randy. I'm Jeff. And we will see you next time. Philip will promise quantity but not quality. I'm okay with that. It's very true. Quantity is job one.
01:21:04
Speaker
Have you guys seen these dice that they've come out with that are 60-sided but numbered? Like, it's 60 sides, but it's just numbered one through eight over and over again. No. I don't like it. That's not divisible either. Well, maybe that one's not 60. Maybe that one's 48-sided, I don't know. Or 54-sided. Wait, 56, it'll be 56. 64-sided, maybe. Potentially, yeah. But that's, I mean, it's right here. That's what they did. But why?
01:21:31
Speaker
I don't know, honestly, because gamer people will buy dumb shit. Language. Are we putting this out for broadcast? Yes! It could have been the post credits, but not anymore, Jeff! Well, I already called Philip a son of a bitch when he said the funniest thing that was on the episode. And I had to put a marker down. Okay, everybody ready?
01:21:59
Speaker
Also, you told me language when I said hell, speaking of the religious ideation of hell. I know. Of which? I hate it here. Philip had a mouthful of cookie when he started this. What was that? Peanut butter cookie? My wife made wonderful peanut butter cookies. That's my favorite. I love peanut butter cookies.
01:22:23
Speaker
What were you going to say, though, Philip, before you chocked on? Never mind. I thought he was just... I thought he said language and it just didn't come out the way. Okay.
