Introduction and Guest Welcome

00:00:09
Speaker
All right, lads, welcome to another episode of Who's Got the Ball. This time around, we're doing a full NFL season preview with a special guest. So and I'll throw it to you. Shane, what's the crack with you?
00:00:20
Speaker
How did you enjoy the app episode? No, no, Really good episode. now We had Evan on, so Evan worked with the two of us in Uber, so he just absolutely loved him at football. I think it always comes across in everything he says as well.
00:00:32
Speaker
He's really just... yeah he's just he's but he's He's electric when he's on, for want of a better word. he just He brings life to everything. So yeah, it was a really, really good episode, really

NFL Season Excitement and Micah Parsons Trade

00:00:42
Speaker
good recording. The Jets are going all the way.
00:00:44
Speaker
Yeah, what more you want? Yeah, Evan was a pleasure to have on as usual. As ah Shane said, we all used to work together. Unfortunately, not anymore, but Shane still works with him.
00:00:55
Speaker
So he's got that football fever in the office. Only a couple of more of days for us right now recording this on Tuesday. We've only got one more day when when you're listening to this until the season starts on Thursday.
00:01:06
Speaker
So we touched on the Micah Parsons trade initially. Evan is a Cowboys fan, so that was interesting to get his insight.

Season Preview: Awards, Division Winners, Championship Predictions

00:01:12
Speaker
And we missed out on that last week. It dropped like right after we finished recording. So then we moved into the season preview. and We touched on player award predictions from MVP down to coach of the year and gave a favorite and an underdog for each.
00:01:26
Speaker
Then we gave who we thought was going to win each of the divisions, AFC, NFC, and the wildcard picks in those divisions too. And then we gave our AFC championship matchups, the winners, our Super Bowl matchup, and the winner of that.
00:01:38
Speaker
We threw out some good odds there for you that we found along the way. And then we gave a hot take each just to kind of throw in something to keep an eye on throughout the season to see if our hunches are right. And then three best bets that we each had from everything that we came across before wrapping up with an over-under wins draft.

Over-Under Wins Draft Strategy

00:01:56
Speaker
So we each picked five teams in a snake style draft based on their their standard lines of over-under wins for the season ahead. so a lot of stuff there for you we were to have Cunnan on unfortunately he was not able to jump on but that means we will have him on in a couple of weeks time again so he's going to be uh probably feeling a bit down after the sad start that the Saints are going to have this season but yeah unfortunately we got that extra draft segment in for you instead so Hope you all enjoy the episode. Let's jump straight into it.
00:02:27
Speaker
All right, lads. So we've got Evan back once again. Conan was a sacrifice of of his change, shift and work. He had to miss it. So we've got the three of us. You're getting an extra segment out of us as well, since we've got a little bit of extra time now.
00:02:42
Speaker
But i Evan, welcome back. A pleasure as always. Thank you. Thank you very much, gentlemen. It's an honor. It's a privilege and it's a pleasure to be here. Love it. Love it. Kind words. I the nicest intro we've ever gotten from anyone.
00:02:56
Speaker
Yeah, even from each other. um Yeah. We're going to jump straight in with Micah Parsons before we do our full preview because we didn't touch on the trade. And it happened literally, what, in maybe like two hours after we stopped recording the last time?
00:03:11
Speaker
Yeah. so yeah was yeah that we thirty It really was. if Yeah. it's It was typically who's got the ball looked at something massive would happen just literally as we finished recording and getting it ready to go.
00:03:21
Speaker
Yeah. so It's the same when Micah Long got away from the Nuggets. Yeah.
00:03:28
Speaker
How unreal, would it have been like, breaking live, Micah Parsons, that would have been nuts. That would have been pretty cool, but no such luck. The deal went with two first rounders and defensive tackle Kenny Clark, who's pretty solid player, heading over to the Cowboys in return for mica Parsons, who in turn has now become the highest non-paid quarterback in NFL history. Highest paid non-quarterback, not non-paid quarterback, what am I waffling about?
00:03:55
Speaker
Four years, $188 million with Green Bay now. I was shook when I saw this. This is probably the biggest trade I've ever seen go down.
00:04:06
Speaker
I couldn't believe that it's happened. Obviously, Eben is a Cowboys fan, so it'll allow you to throw your opinion out on that first half. What did you make of it? Yeah, it absolutely was news to break.
00:04:18
Speaker
Am I shocked? That's a tough one, because I am and I'm not. It was following that, I swear it was Adam Schefter who put out the ex post, we'll say, and it was a full breakdown of this ah the cycle of beginning from the the negotiat negotiations between Parsons and the Cowboys and in the run-up to the trade.
00:04:42
Speaker
And there was just so little back and forth or anything going on at all that I thought that was absolutely crazy. A generational talent gone out the door, He is worth that absolute bag that he got.
00:04:56
Speaker
I mean, I know last year wasn't like superstar stellar year as opposed to the defensive end from the Bengals who put on a belter of a season. But it's not all about just sacks alone. I mean, we talk about pressures and he's just so good at getting the quarterback to come off their feet and force him to move, make a dodgy throw.
00:05:16
Speaker
So, yeah, a generational tunnel gone. You hate to see it. The trade in itself, two first picks, juicy. Like we've got two solid... attempts in the next two years to get some solid picks.
00:05:29
Speaker
Here's the hope that that can come to fruition. Whether that does or not is another thing to be seen. And of course, the tackle, yeah, sound loud, you know, grand, he'll do the job. We respect him.
00:05:40
Speaker
Could we have potentially picked up someone better? Sure. i think we definitely could have, because I don't know, did you see it? You probably did. I saw it on another one and on X, and it was the lad on Madden, and he was Green Bay, and he traded two first-rounders, and that T tackled to the Cowboys for Parsons, and the Cowboys were like, nah, it's not good enough.
00:05:59
Speaker
So if Madden's saying it's not good enough, don't know. Yeah. But yeah, it is unfortunate. I think we're going to do like a massive move hopefully next year, specifically the running back room.
00:06:13
Speaker
We have someone who I really like coming into the draft next year, the Notre Dame running back, Jeremiah Love. Solid talent, absolute fan of him.
00:06:23
Speaker
So if we could pick him up in the first round, that would be ideal. But when i again, we'll have to see how that happens. Yeah, it was ah in general it was nuts.
00:06:34
Speaker
As you said, I thought you you could have probably got more. And the the question lies now that Green Bay are obviously win or bust, so they'll be expecting to pick late in the draft. So the pick may not even be that high.
00:06:47
Speaker
So you'll be hopefully potentially hoping that they have a bad season over the next year or two. I could see you taking a running back next year and then maybe trading up for a QB in the year after if Dak needs a replacement at that stage in the long run. But what was your initial feeling on it, Shane, when you saw the news?
00:07:07
Speaker
It was the kind of trade, like the only thing I compare it to is it kind of shook me as much as that Luka trade did when it went down in the and NBA just a couple of months ago. I just couldn't believe and completely out of blue. Like I know he wanted to be traded and he was talking all summer about this is it, I want to be out.
00:07:22
Speaker
But for it to go down like that and for them, I don't think they got a whole lot for him, as everyone we was just saying there. I think they could have gotten a lot more for a player of his talent. But the money they're paying him, I think, is outrageous. I think it's absolutely ridiculous. We just have to wait and see if works out for him. Because, as you said, the highest paid non-quarterback ever. and Is he the one that should be breaking that mould?
00:07:44
Speaker
Let's wait and see. I personally don't think so. I don't know who be breaking that mould. But it's it's just a hell of a lot of money for me. I think it's just that the superstardom that he already brings. And as Evan said, it's the pressure he brings off the edge that quarterbacks know that he's there.
00:08:02
Speaker
When you have that kind of potential, you're... you're betting on potential as well as talent with the pay. And Green Bay had to make a swing because I think they needed something. And for me then at that point to say, okay, maybe they didn't want to go out and spend, but they spent on CD and they spent on Dak.
00:08:21
Speaker
And arguably, yes, CD is is a very good wide receiver, but he's not like top two in the league. Whereas Carter is top two in his position in the league. And Dak is certainly not top two in his position and they pay them the best.
00:08:34
Speaker
So I don't understand how they can go in and not pay... nearly said Abdul Carter. He's on my mind as somebody that could follow suit, but... To pay Micah Parsons.
00:08:45
Speaker
um And then literally two days later, they pay Deron Bland, what, four years? 92 million? Like, he can do... he can He has splash plays, but have you seen the rest of his tape? Like...
00:08:57
Speaker
ah The amount of times he leaves people wide open and and then he does have the ability to get interceptions, but he's not worth what they paid him. And that makes it even crazier. That makes it just basically unfathomable for me that they paid him that much and they chose not to pay Micah.
00:09:14
Speaker
Yeah, it's so it's just so across the board. It's so interesting, the decisions that are being made in terms of paying people their contracts, et etc. like Don't get me wrong, I love CD, but yeah, again, like he he's he's not that wide receiver one or wide receiver two in the league.
00:09:31
Speaker
But look, we'll have to see how things pan out. The one thing that i did find interest interesting was like even like Jerry's comments throughout the whole process and being like, oh if you're a Cowboys fan, don't lose a week of sleep.
00:09:42
Speaker
Don't lose a week of sleep. And now I can't fucking sleep. yeah
00:09:49
Speaker
We'll see how things i'm I'm still like relatively in good mind for this upcoming season, despite his departure.
00:10:01
Speaker
and I think with the loss of him, i I don't know. I feel like we're in a little bit of like ah like a Bengals boat. you know, we're going to cram out points, but we're probably going to give up points too. Yeah, yeah.
00:10:15
Speaker
That's something good. Yeah, i think they're like a ah discount store of angles at the moment. because obviously they yeah They've got Joe Burrow leading the charge and they've got a very solid running back. But again, their defense is leaky. But I thought you would be very, very good if Micah signed. And I thought he would because of over the years, Jerry has done things like this. But Micah didn't want any of those games and to be played with him.
00:10:41
Speaker
And, you know, you have Michael Irvin coming out, calling Jerry crazy and... Even Dak obviously can't say anything because he's the QB, but he did say he was shocked and that he didn't he didn't think he would be traded. So, yeah, it's not it's not ideal, but also it gets the situation done and you can move on now you know what you have for the year. And there's nothing hanging over going into the first game of the season. The opener, obviously, Thursday night.
00:11:06
Speaker
we've got um Philadelphia and Dallas playing. So interesting and actually that you were up the Luka trail chain because it's both of them out of Dallas and say Dallas fans are like, what are we doing here? Yeah. yeah and so I saw that too. i literally saw the same thing and I was like, oh shit. Yeah. What's Dallas at?
00:11:24
Speaker
Fuck it up. Yeah. and And also, I'd like to go back as well, the last time I was on here, i was like, well, we we literally mentioned an over-under because we were doing coverage of the Cowboys and the Eagles.
00:11:36
Speaker
And i at the time, the spread was plus nine and a half. And I was like, slap that over. We're golden. That since changed. We're not so golden.
00:11:47
Speaker
So maybe have a look at that pick, maybe. Yeah, yeah. i to be learning but people are People have already put their mortgages on that now for you, so you don't have to pay people out. Talk to Gerry, not me. Talk to Gerry. No, no, Gerry.
00:12:03
Speaker
Get Gerry on the phone. But that's that's something we're going to touch on now. Obviously, we'll get into our full season preview. We're going to touch on all the teams we think we're going to make the playoffs.
00:12:14
Speaker
We've got some similar categories that we touched on when we did our Premier League season preview, if you listen to that. But we'll start off with player award predictions. So we're going to do the big one first.
00:12:25
Speaker
We're going to give our favourite for the mv MVP award and an underdog that we have. And we're going to throw out the odds for each for you guys, in case you're interested in having a bet on these.
00:12:36
Speaker
So I'll throw it to you first, Shane. Who do you have as your picks here? So for my and MVP, my favourites for me, like took joel burrough at six to one I at I think the man is, he's only going one way, he's only going to get better.
00:12:53
Speaker
Jamar Chase, the two of them are getting paid outrageous money now, so they need to keep going. If the Bengals are going to have any sort of a successful season, it needs to be Joe Burrow throwing touchdown after touchdown after touchdown.
00:13:04
Speaker
I think 6-1 is a decent price. I didn't want to really go with any of the big hitters. It's too obvious. The likes of Lamar, Josh Allen, it's so easy to throw them out there. They're obviously the top two favourites first. But I think Borough at 6-1 is a great shout.
00:13:16
Speaker
My underdog is a bit of a wild one, and you're going to hear me mention his team a good bit over the course of this, but Derek Goff at 33-1, I think, is crazy big. um I think it's absolutely outrageous that he is that high up.
00:13:29
Speaker
i Sorry, that high off the the top of the betting list at 33-1. So just going to stick him out there as well and see what people think. Nice, nice, nice. Evan, what do you have? So i was very torn about who I was deciding.
00:13:45
Speaker
And ultimately, i did. i leaned on Josh Allen. I am a I am a the Bills. Smetter team. Josh Allen is just unbelievable. He's able to extend plays. He's able to, you know, and he has no problem with putting his body on the line.
00:13:59
Speaker
If it means they're up, you know, six points off a touchdown, he'll just run it in there. So yeah, I have Josh Allen for the MVP. The odds there are 11 to 2, which I think is pretty solid.
00:14:10
Speaker
I'm pretty sure he's like second. I think it's second favorite. the Second favorite Lamar Jackson. yeah Yeah, I think it's a like either way, I think you're you're you're giving yourself a a great chance with going with either of those lads. They're going to play well this year. You know it. So yeah, we'll just see how that goes.
00:14:30
Speaker
And then for the underdog, I just went a little bit lower, not and not as low as Shane now, to be honest, but I did go with Jaden Daniels in terms of underdog, I suppose. yeah I think Jaden Daniels has a massive opportunity to come out here on his second year. And like he wowed us last year.
00:14:49
Speaker
This year, I think, is going to be on another level. I mean, they made it to the championships and lost out to the Eagles, their second time playing against the Eagles, and they got blown out of it, which was unfortunate so because Jadon Daniels, he still crammed out 255 passing yards 48 rushing yards.
00:15:09
Speaker
He did show one pick. Look, what can you do? you know Picks happen. But overall, I think, yeah, if you're not talking... The usual faces for MVP award, I think Jaden Downings is a clash out as well.
00:15:22
Speaker
And his odds are seventeen to two okay Okay, nice. we've We've gone all quarterbacks so far. I'm going to stick with the trend on Matt Shane. I'm going with charles Joe Burrow as well.
00:15:34
Speaker
I think you probably thought i would do that, Shane. I actually didn't. I thought you were going to Yeah, fair, yeah.
00:15:43
Speaker
yeah fair yeah Yeah, so I stuck with that because I picked Burrow last year and I think he would have won it if they had done better as a team. You can't give it to a team that misses the playoffs and loses a lot of one-score games, but I think that flips a little this year and we'll touch on, obviously, who we think is going to get into the playoffs soon, but yeah, I think he's going to have a massive year.
00:16:06
Speaker
And some of the plays he made last year, know, if you watch Quarterback on Netflix, like re-watching some of that stuff is crazy. And... some of the other inept play around him of some of the other players who feel sorry for him I don't think that will continue as badly And then a little bit different than I'm going with Saquon Barkley as an underdog.
00:16:26
Speaker
It's always a quarter a quarterback award, but no player has ever gone over 2,000 yards in back-to-back seasons. and if Saquon does that, then I feel like he's going to have to be in the conversation. and Again, I don't think it's highly likely, but at 60-1, I think it's worth a fiver.
00:16:45
Speaker
Just... on the off chance that he does break that record of back-to-back 2,000-yard seasons, then people will be all buzzed about that, and that'll be something to talk about. and and don't have too much. i think we'll touch on other things that we we spoke about later on, but the Jared Goff one for me is absolutely rogue because Jared Goff, I feel like Ben Johnson not being there will make a big difference, um and I take it you're very, very high on the line, so we won't talk too much about that. We'll get into it later on.
00:17:17
Speaker
Next up, Offensive Player the Year. I'll go first this time. I'm going to keep keeping the Bengals. I'm going with Jamar Chase. Triple Crown winner last year. um i think if Saquon goes crazy, he'll be in the consideration for MVP and sometimes people don't vote for the same thing.
00:17:34
Speaker
But again, being a Giants fan, I know Saquon is prone to injury, so I'm not going to bet him on two fronts here. I'm going to go with Jamar because I think after winning the Triple Crown, basically if the team does better this time around, he has to be in strong consideration that's at nine to one um and then my underdog is derrick henry 14 to one he had a crazy season last year under the radar almost 2000 yards himself um and he had like 14 15 16 touchdowns i can't remember exactly but he's going to push those numbers again and people are going to be shocked how well he can continue to play at an age that people expect running back to slow down so those are my picks there um evan what have you got for us
00:18:18
Speaker
It's absolutely wild. I've got the same two. Unreal. Absolutely ridiculous, yeah. I mean, what what like you said, what more can you say about those two Bukali?
00:18:31
Speaker
Absolutely fine Warriors. Yeah, I wouldn't be shocked. Again, and that's the interesting thing about a lot of these kind of devoting and how these awards pan out is it is. It's like having those things on your side, like wins and winning the conference, taking on the champs,
00:18:50
Speaker
yeah take on your the channel national champ in your division, like that's huge. And having those on your side it really pushes you forward for that award. And I feel like if you don't achieve it, it's almost held against you, which in some cases is quite unfortunate.
00:19:06
Speaker
And like, especially like with like the MVP award, like I was contemplating Joe Burrow, but I feel like it's the case that if, if the Bengals don't push far, well then I don't think Joe is going to be in consideration, which is shit.
00:19:18
Speaker
So I don't know. It's a very messy one, but yeah, those two boys sound. Yeah, nice. Anything different from you, Shane? ah So Jamar Chase gets another triple crown here from us. I also have him as my my first pick here as my favourite. I have gone different key for my underdog, and it's another one of those hear-me-out ones. I've gone Christian McCaffrey at 16-1.
00:19:40
Speaker
If he stays fit and healthy, we know what he can do. He's an absolute menace. He can run it in. He can catch it and go in. If he's healthy for full year and plays 17 games, like it's very little stopping him from getting 20 touchdowns if he's full and healthy. And at that stage, then you're like, ooh.
00:19:55
Speaker
He's definitely in the conversation then. So I thought it's 16 to 1. He was just a really, a really good shout. Yeah, that's that was one in my consideration. I like that one. I think that if he stays healthy, shout the things he can do that we've seen him do before.
00:20:08
Speaker
Without a doubt. But the problem is the health. The health, yeah. Evan, I'll throw it to you first for defensive player the year. Who have you got as your two choices? I think defensive player of the year, think it's, I honestly do, I think it's going to be Michael Parsons, to be honest.
00:20:25
Speaker
i I think whenever, yeah, it's tough. You hate to see it. i think one of the reasons, well, I think he's always up there as a candidate anyway, for sure. But I think one of the more so reasons is because of literally everything that's happened.
00:20:39
Speaker
And going to Green Bay, I feel like he's going to be fucking fueled out of his mind. So I think, yeah, he's just going to play his arse off. And yeah, like we said, sacks are going to be in and in a reasonably high number and just constantly putting pressure.
00:20:55
Speaker
And I think it's going to be absolutely wild when we have to face Green Bay and Dak Prescott has the look. has to look Parsons in the fucking eye when he's running at him. That's crazy.
00:21:06
Speaker
Yeah, it's going to be a big one. Oh my God. And what's the price on him? 5-1 or something, is it? Oh, sorry. Yes, for Micah Parsons, odds of you Yeah. Which I think is pretty solid.
00:21:20
Speaker
Yeah, it's pretty good. it's Yeah, if he has a massive year. And who did you pick for your underdog? For the underdog, I didn't actually pop one in, but off my head, underdog-wise, I think that could be a slick shout.
00:21:33
Speaker
It's probably Travis Hunter, to be honest. We don't know really what we're going to be looking at in terms of him playing on the defensive side. We don't know, is it going to be playing all snaps on offense and on defense? We don't know if you're going to get 50-50.
00:21:49
Speaker
How is that going to pan out? There's just so many question marks in there. But I feel like if he has, in his first three to four weeks, great splits on both offensive and defensive side, and he puts in some good work like he did in college in Colorado, you're laughing.
00:22:05
Speaker
I think that is a safe bet, potentially. but yeah You can nearly throw him in there for both offense and defense. It just completely depends on how the season goes for the Jags. Yeah, based on what we've seen and the way they're scheming it so far, looks like he'll be majority offense just because they want Trevor Lawrence to have a weapon. But I think he'll play on big downs defensively as well.
00:22:28
Speaker
He's two hundred to one so you're getting some mad odds there if you do want to go that way. um Just put 50 cent on it. Just 50 cent on it. But I'll throw out mine then.
00:22:40
Speaker
What I've gone with is I think... Generally, I know it corner last year, but generally get edge rushers here. Someone who kind of stacks up the numbers. So I'm going with Will Anderson. jim I think this Texans defense is absolutely disgusting.
00:22:55
Speaker
And he's going to be the key part of it this year. I think he jumped up to like 11.5 sacks last year, and that's only going to climb him again. He's probably going to push 14 or 15. And again, like Micah, it's the pressure he brings off the edge as well that...
00:23:11
Speaker
You know, it just it's very, very hard to get away from. And then for my underdog, I think, if anybody knows me, this is an obvious choice. It's going to be Abdul-Karter. hundred to one i To be honest, I wanted to pick him as my actual pick and my underdog pick, but thought I was going to get clowned for just being biased.
00:23:30
Speaker
So I said I'll throw him as the underdog pick. I think he could win defensive player the year. The way that already he's looking... I know it's training camp. I know it's preseason games. And I know it's like team practices with other teams.
00:23:46
Speaker
He's getting double teamed by other teams in preseason. Like, no one's going to do that in the regular season because Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeau are on the same line.
00:23:57
Speaker
So if you double-team Abdul-Karri, you're getting torched. He's going to have a free run at a lot of people. And I think people will look a lot at, like, sack numbers and things like that, and he's going to rack them up. So I really like it at 100-1. That's something I'm going to be jumping on myself. Yeah, think 100-1...
00:24:15
Speaker
100 to 1 is mad. ah Serious odds. I'd like Kevin know again, it's like stick 50 cent on it and see how it goes or stick 5 on it and buy a house for yourself or something like because that is quite, that is, they are quite smart. 500 euro, like, somewhere else. Yeah.
00:24:30
Speaker
Yeah, I'm sure nice cover box from Tesla for that, probably. So but my defensive player the year, I also went with my comparison. Just with everything that's gone on, it's one of those kind of written in the stars things. He's gotten all the money, he needs go and prove himself, and he just comes out. and That's smashing it up.
00:24:48
Speaker
and My backup pick then, I went with Myles Garrett. I just think the man is class. We were talking about him a couple of weeks back as well. 8-1, not quite 100-1, so I won't be buying a house if put a 5-1 Myles Garrett, but I think it's probably worth a look at them.
00:25:02
Speaker
Yeah, no, I like the two shouts. I think they're generally probably most likely. Again, with Garrett, you might fall victim to the fact that brands are going to be really bad.
00:25:13
Speaker
Yeah. So I think... Mike has the storyline and if he does well then everybody's going to be looking at him so I like all the shouts there there's a bit of variety for you to choose from coach of the year then throw it to you first Shane what have you gone with?
00:25:35
Speaker
I have gone with Aaron Glenn at 14 to 1 I just think the Jets are going to have a much stronger season. I think if he gets them into a playoff, if they win the first round of a playoff game, then I do think he will be in contention for... far dragging us from a very, very bad losing record last year to get visit winning a playoff game. I think that's why i think at 14-1 he's a good outside best.
00:25:57
Speaker
My underdog is also 14-1, so not great. But I've done with Pete Carroll as my outside best. yeah i just I really like him. I think he's going to do a smashing job there. i really do. I think they have not the potential to win anything soon, but I think is potentially going nurture there lot of it. If he can get that going, then they could be in for a good year as well.
00:26:17
Speaker
Yeah, no, I like that. Glenn is a nice shout. I'm just not 100% sure on how well Fields is going to do yet. And that probably could dictate a lot of this. But yeah, I like the P. Carlton for sure.
00:26:29
Speaker
I've gone with Mike McDonald as my first pick. I love him as a coach. I think the Seahawks are going to be very good this year, especially defensively. And usually, as I've mentioned before, it takes a while for his scheme to settle in and for players to actually learn it because it's very difficult.
00:26:46
Speaker
And when we saw that last year how they improved down the stretch defensively. I think they're going to come out of the blocks hot this year. And 16 to 1 I think is a very good price because I think they're going to make the jump into the playoffs as I'll touch on later.
00:26:58
Speaker
Kevin O'Connell then is my underdog. Again he's a better coach but they don't give it to people who know they're going to be good coaches. The only reason I think this is a good race is because going with JJ McCarthy, who people are already doubting, and if he does back-to-back seasons where they get 12, 13, 14 wins and he has Sam Darnold and JJ McCarthy as his quarterbacks, then people are going to have to recognize that and that maybe plays into the voters. So 40 to 1, I think, is very, very, very good odds for him.
00:27:30
Speaker
Who have you got for us, Dan Evans? This was a bit of a tough one, just overall. I think, though, was kind of looking back at previous ones, and a lot of it in recent years, it had been first-time coaches.
00:27:46
Speaker
So I decided to go with Ben Johnson. I think it is kind of just, yeah, he's he's up there as probably primary candidate, I believe, 13-2. at thirteen to two The amount of knowledge and information that he's going to be pulling over is going to be absolutely crazy.
00:28:04
Speaker
Now, I suppose how that plays out is it another thing. And I do like like, I am, I am a fan of the Bears. I think they have some great pieces. it It just needs to it needs to glue.
00:28:17
Speaker
like I like Caleb Williams. Boy's at receiver. like He's got some weapons. So whether or not they can pull that out, I don't know. But I think Ben Johnson is a pretty solid shout. My absolute underdog is your boy, Brian Schottenheimer at 28-1.
00:28:35
Speaker
Off of last season, it was a tough one. I feel like, now then again, you know we were dealing with quite a few injuries, Dak being out, Overshawn bland out. We had some pretty big hits and we had no run game at all.
00:28:50
Speaker
and Now we have some bit of a backfield, although it's a bit mish-mashy at the minute. But I think if Shadi can come in and somehow pull out eight wins, nine wins, ten wins, that would be absolutely massive for him.
00:29:06
Speaker
Again, 28-1 is a big gap, but it would be sick to see. Because the boy the boys, like the overall general vibe is that the lads... are a fan of Schottenheimer. He has a good thing with them.
00:29:17
Speaker
We've seen a lot of clips of them um on the field during prac and stuff like that. So that was nice to see. So we'll see how that plays out on the field a game. I think he does have that kind of player relationship where he's a player's guy. So you could see that developing a good atmosphere. And I think if you if you get into the playoffs a day to day, he has to be in the conversation. so and Because it's unexpected at this point.
00:29:41
Speaker
yeah Last two award categories are Offensive Rookie and of the Year and Defensive Rookie of the Year. Offensive first, i'll I'll throw out my picks. So my favorite is Cam Ward.
00:29:55
Speaker
He is the favorite, I think, at 11-4. I really like Cam Ward. I think he has a lot about him. Everything you can see in interviews and stuff, he's very, very confident.
00:30:06
Speaker
And I think he'll get a nice connection going the Calvin Ridley. I actually like a lot of what the Titans have on offer. And think if it doesn't work this year, the coach will be gone because they have a lot of talent there in various positions, especially defensively. and So if he can't get a lot out of them, I think they'll move him on. But I think Ward is going to have a big season regardless.
00:30:27
Speaker
And I could see him throwing for... you know upwards of 3500 yards. And going off on some defences. Because he does have a big arm. And he has that big playability.
00:30:38
Speaker
So he's 11-4. Norrie Lod's there. But I think he's most likely in my eyes to win it. And then underdog is. Emeka Egbuka. Massive wide receiver, a lot of potential coming out of a great program.
00:30:51
Speaker
And 16-1, I think Baker Mayfield is going to rely on him heavily with, you know, that you see already Chris Godwin is only coming back from injury. Jalen McMillan looks like he'll miss...
00:31:03
Speaker
maybe half the season and then we also have Mike Evans who is getting older so I think he'll be a big target and he'll rack up a lot yards he could be this year's Brian Thomas Jr. as somebody who maybe was overlooked a little bit and slipped a little bit of the draft and then he turns out to be very very good so they're my two picks I'll throw it to you Evan what have you got yeah love that love that for my overall offensive rookie of the year I leaned more towards Ashen Jinty hmm The man was literally robbed of a Heisman purely off the back that he happened to be in the fucking same year as Travis Hunter.
00:31:40
Speaker
had Had Travis Hunter not been there, That would have been a completely different outcome. And I think I would like to say, yeah, Gentile probably would have walked away with that. The man put Boise State on his back.
00:31:52
Speaker
He was untouchable. Passing or sorry, rushing yards were through the roof. and he And like the way he just stands behind the quarterback, like he just looks terrifying.
00:32:03
Speaker
Not crouched down, not, and you know, not lined up like normally. it was wild. I think he has a big opportunity in Vegas to put on a show.
00:32:13
Speaker
um So yeah, I went with him for offensive rookie. And then for the underdog, I did also go with Igbuka. nice I picked him up in fantasy because I heard great things. I looked into him and the guy is a warrior.
00:32:26
Speaker
ah Six foot warrior, to be precise. He is going to be a wild one in the one-on-one scenarios. to Definitely went to watch in Tampa Bay for sure. Yeah, was worried you got him.
00:32:39
Speaker
Jinty is also tied as well, Wickham. So theyor rock and it they're both rocking 11th the floor. Nice. But yeah, Egbuka then is 16-1. That's solid. I think I messaged you after our draft, our fantasy draft, and I was like waiting for Egbuka and we took him like a pick or two before me. So I was like...
00:32:58
Speaker
waiting for that but shane what have you got for your two picks yeah so i did go with cam moore as well at 11 to 4 i just think it's very hard to look past him if the titans do anything at all that he's going to be the center of us as you said really he's so confident he's he's the hell of an arm on him when he gets it going so if the titan the goods then he's pretty much a a walk in my underdog then is someone who is bigger than six four I've gone for Colston Loveland at 25 to 1.
00:33:25
Speaker
I think there's a very, very good chance at the end there'll be more of a blocking tight ends than an actual running and catching tight end. So he you probably won't win it, but I just like the other 25 to 1.
00:33:36
Speaker
he's He's come across really, really well in all these kind of these workout videos. the that That sounds absolutely horrendous. In all these build up videos to the season, I just think he seems like a really good character. So I think that could help him as well.
00:33:49
Speaker
So 25 to 1 Colston Loveland. I think he has a lot of big play potential as well as he is a blocker, but he's able to play as well for his size and he's a reliable hand. So I like that pick because Ben Johnson is going to use him a lot.
00:34:03
Speaker
And then we'll stay with you for defensive rookie picks. Shane, what have you got for us here? So I only realized about four minutes ago that I've doubled up, unfortunately, on my Cleveland Browns defense by going Garrett as an underdog and taking Mason Graham here at 12 to 1.
00:34:19
Speaker
um i just I just think that the Browns can't get any worse and their defense is going out to step up massively. And he like yeah if he if they do step up, I think he's going to be...
00:34:31
Speaker
Like, if people good, the spot be on him, it's his rookie year, and all of a sudden they've just turned it around and they're quite good now. Himself and Miles Garrett could really be, and could be a force to be reckoned with if they get it going. There's more chance they don't.
00:34:44
Speaker
But at 12-1, I think it's it's a really good chance. And my underdog then is Travis Hunter at 9-1. It's mad my underdog is shorter odds than Mason Graham, but... With the way Hunter's pre-season has gone, he's been far more on the offense than the defense. So I actually think 9-1 odds aren't great. But if he does do anything special at all on the defense side of ball, he's going to be in there because they absolutely love him.
00:35:07
Speaker
Yeah, yeah I don't know. and I think your argument makes sense that if the Browns do get better and there is a... An eye on Graham as a starter. I just find it hard to see a defensive tackle winning it.
00:35:21
Speaker
But again, that could change if they move him along the line and he comes off the edge or whatever. But time will tell on those. I've got Abdul Carter again as my favourite because I think he's a shoe-in to win it. I'll be beyond shocked if he doesn't. He's going to have to get severely injured to not win this.
00:35:38
Speaker
I just think his talent level is outrageous. He's better than Travis Hunter. He was the best player in that draft. Without a doubt. And I'm just happy that he slipped to the Giants. Just because of the year that it was.
00:35:50
Speaker
And then Mike Green is my second, my underdog pick. A lot of character questions. Some cases brought up against him while he was in college. um So of course the Ravens took him.
00:36:02
Speaker
um twelve to one is is god's there at heaven and him and he's just a sack machine I think he had like 16 and a half sacks last year in college and he yeah he just produces massively so the Ravens will use him like crazy and obviously people vote for numbers too so I think his production will help him so have you got have to wrap up this this portion Yeah, I mean, I think it's got to be Abdul Carter.
00:36:29
Speaker
i i Honestly, i didn't even look. No, i did I did look last week. I wanted to see what paint he rocked on the line. And I couldn't really tell when I was looking.
00:36:41
Speaker
Because in college, he used to it used to be Darth Vader. And I was like, that's fucking terrifying. Yeah. yeah so Does he still do it? Yeah, because we have the Jackson Dark does the Anakin Skywalker black paint here.
00:36:57
Speaker
So it's like a take-away for Giants fans. we have the He used to do that all through college, so now we've got Darth Vader and Anakin, so that's pretty cool. ah That's so sick. Yeah, I think that's a character.
00:37:09
Speaker
It is. Don't be afraid of me. The Jets.
00:37:16
Speaker
ah god yeah I would be shocked if he didn't walk away with that. ah there's a lot of good candidates here. the The one that I also wanted to loop in, I suppose, is off the back of the Parsons was Cowboys defensive end Donovan.
00:37:34
Speaker
Donovan is... don't want to mention that. Sorry, man. Israku, yeah. ah I mean, his odds, 22 to 1, not great. um But I think it will give him a massive opportunity this year to step up and see what he can do.
00:37:49
Speaker
It's a big spot to fill being an edge rusher, especially boots like Parsons. But we'll have to see how it pans out. I think he's a solid candidate. There is a few people there on the list, though, for sure.
00:38:00
Speaker
Yeah, I think he's a good shout, to be honest, because and actually mixed up there. ah just checked. Mike Green had 17. It was 16 and a half sacks for Donovan Isaraku.
00:38:12
Speaker
in his last year with Boston College so I knew one of them had it and but yeah he's he's also good production I would have loved to see him and Micah on the same coming off either edge that's why I thought that the Cowboys would be really good but I still think he can be good because you have some other good players along that line with Oversham and now Clark so yeah I like that I think there's good odds there for him for sure yeah We'll move on then to our conference predictions. We're going to give our four division winners and our wildcard spots. And then this will nicely lead us into who we think is going to win the big game. Um,
00:38:46
Speaker
So we'll start with the AFC and I've gone pretty chalky here. I don't know if you guys followed suit, but for me, there's kind of an obvious pick in each and division and I've gone all four them.
00:38:58
Speaker
I've gone with the Bills, Ravens, Texans and Chiefs all to win their divisions. Have any, have either of you gone different on the division winners? I have. I have one different to you. Okay, Chiefs.
00:39:11
Speaker
So, i no, i have I have the Jets. No, I'm joking. I don't. I have the Bills, the Texans, the Ravens and the Broncos. I have the Broncos over the Chiefs to win the West. That's 3-1. I just i like the Broncos this year.
00:39:27
Speaker
Yeah, no, I think it's a good show. I think the other three for me are very, unless you can talk yourself into the Bengals. It's pretty much locked in. Yeah. What do you have, Evan? I have, that yeah, Bills, Ravens, Texans, and Chiefs. Yeah.
00:39:42
Speaker
and I do like the Broncos as well. I'm a fan of Bo Nix. What he did last year was incredible. You love to see it. But yeah, I don't know. those ah yeah I do feel like those four are like a relatively staple four to have in there. yeah But the Wildcats have some nice additions.
00:39:57
Speaker
Can actually just say and yeah the Jets to to jes a fourteen to one to win our division is crazy um it should be 1400 to one yeah it should be 1400 to one like that one in the division no no like i couldn't believe it was only 14 to one and that's the reason i think it locked and loaded for the bills to just walk away with this and uh the odds of four to eleven kind of yeah that's four to eleven says a whole lot about it as well yeah there's no price there whatsoever for them so then with the wild card spots we'll throw to you who have you gone with for your three picks
00:40:36
Speaker
Three picks, is it? Yeah, your three wildcard spots. i think I think I'm leaning towards... So given that we've got what we have in there right now, I'm leaning towards seeing the Bengals.
00:40:49
Speaker
I'm leaning towards seeing the Broncos. And I'm leaning towards Chargers. You're the exact same as me. That's nailed exactly what I have. Bengals, Broncos, Chargers.
00:41:01
Speaker
i was I was on the fence about...
00:41:05
Speaker
the chargers but i talked myself into it that with harbaugh they're just going to be good and i think they're there's i think harbert will be pretty solid again so i i'm gonna lean on that usually teams do swap in and out and i know bill simmons often says this like three and three out rule where usually you get three teams in that weren't in it the year before each division but I feel like the AFC is pretty top heavy and then you kind of have that mid-range so I think the only thing I have different from last year is the Bengals instead of the Steelers so Shane I take it you have the Chiefs in one your wildcard spots and what are your other two? Yes so I have the Chiefs and the Bengals and then just to keep my coach of the year prediction up and running I had the Jets in there at and
00:41:55
Speaker
um no I have to be biased at some point. I really do. Why not let it be this? So did the Jets are getting into the wildfires. I'll face no further questions as we move on to the NFC.
00:42:09
Speaker
Yeah, I don't think there's even anything needs to be said about that. I think the NFC is way is is harder to pick because there's way more teams that you could talk yourself into. So we'll let you go first, Shane, off the back of that madness that you just spread. Who are your four division winners in the NFC?
00:42:30
Speaker
So I have the Lions, the Bucks, the Eagles and the Rams. 1-5, 4-6 and respectively.
00:42:39
Speaker
I've gone a little bit different. I also have the Eagles, Rams and Lions, but I like the Falcons this year. like Michael Penix. And I think if he does happen to get injured, Kirk Cousins is still a very solid quarterback.
00:42:52
Speaker
and I love John Robinson and their defenses has gotten more pieces on it. So i think that they're they're going to do well. I think the Bucs will struggle. Yeah.
00:43:04
Speaker
with the constant turnover of offensive coordinators it's very difficult to bounce back from that change every year so that's the reason I've gone Falcons and I like the Rams at 2-1 but I also really like the Falcons at eleven to five I think it's it's a really good price and so I've got here for us I actually took the Falcons out very, very last minute and swapped them with the Bucks.
00:43:26
Speaker
The Bucks at 1 to 5 were just screaming at me to to not do anything stupid after what I'd done it. The one above, they just like, 1 to 5, they're so heavy favourites that they did there there's obviously people seeing something I'm not seeing, so I swapped them out for the Falcons then.
00:43:40
Speaker
Fair enough, fair enough, yeah. Well, you got head. ah For NFC winners, I've gone Eagles, I've gone Green Bay, I've gone Bucks, and I've gone Rams.
00:43:51
Speaker
Okay, Green Bay. So the Micah is really pushing you here. Yeah, I did think at first they weren't there for me. At first I was thinking Lions potentially or Commanders potentially.
00:44:04
Speaker
But yeah, I think yeah having Micah is just such a massive addition and we've got to remember Green Bay is overall still a relatively young team in comparison to other teams in the NFL.
00:44:16
Speaker
They're still learning. They're still progressing. ah Jordan Love still has a lot to give. So, yeah, I think this year will be an interesting one. yeah We'll see. We'll see. Can they pull it out of the bag? But I think definitely Parsons is going to be a huge addition for their defense for sure.
00:44:30
Speaker
Yeah, well, hard to argue with your points there. I think, Dan, we may have some of the different answers here for the wildcard spots. We'll throw back to you first, Shane, since you went first with the winners.
00:44:42
Speaker
So I have the commanders, the Vikings and the Falcons. and The commanders, I think, are shoeing here with Jayden Daniels. I don't think they'll win their division, but I think they are they are comfortably going to get the wildcard spot. like I think anyone else is going quite a distance below them.
00:44:56
Speaker
The Vikings, for you to say, their coach is unbelievable. If JJ McCarty goes out here and gets 10 or 11 wins, then he's in really, really for a good shot of getting coach of the year.
00:45:06
Speaker
um And then the Falcons, obviously I was going to pick them as my divisional winner and had to change a change of heart, so I had to put them in as well. I think Green Bay are going to be very, very close. I think one at least one of you are going to Green Bay in here. I just couldn't couldn't take out any of the three. I think the three are better them.
00:45:23
Speaker
Yeah, well, Ev has them as his division winner. You're just missing out. one I'm kind of in the middle because I do have them getting in. um And I also match it with the Vikings.
00:45:35
Speaker
And then my last pick is the Seahawks, 33 to 20. I think they're... very very good this year i i think sam darnell will be fine as i mentioned before i think play action suits him and klin kubiak is going to use that and then we've i think they're better than the niners and the niners are in a rebuild people are so high on them because their easy schedule but they have so many players that they lost that it's going to take probably more than this year to improve in my opinion on them so that's why i've gone with the seahawks here um and i'm going against with the commanders i think they're not going to have a good year the hype is way too much they haven't gotten better there's a reason some of the players that they got other teams didn't want them and they have the oldest roster and i don't know how many years um by an easy two year extra above the last average so it was like 20
00:46:31
Speaker
whatever let's say it was like 27 i don't have the exact stat but i think it was around maybe 26 point something was the oldest in the last 10 years and they're two years older than that so that's going to catch up to them too regardless of daniels how good he is i just they have a tough schedule and i can't see them getting in so that's my argument against them but what have you got ev that is fair that is very fair oh god the nfc i was so torn when i was doing this or my wildcard spots, I have gone with lions, commanders, and I've gone bears.
00:47:04
Speaker
the I wanted to go Vikings really badly. But I'm just not sure. i'm I'm a little bit more set on the starting situation for the Bears than I am the Vikings at the minute.
00:47:17
Speaker
um I don't know how much trust we should be throwing into JJ's hands. But look, I believe he can do a good job. Is he going to do better than Caleb? I don't know. We'll see. I think that'll be a fun matchup. but But yeah, for now anyway, for the white card spot, Lions, Commanders, Bears. Oh my.
00:47:34
Speaker
Yeah, it's tasty NFC. There's so many good teams. I just think with Caleb, he was like, I know people look at his stats last year and stuff, but he was really bad at times. Really, really bad. And Ben Johnson, of course, will help that.
00:47:49
Speaker
And we haven't seen JJ McCarty, so it's a hard way, but I'm betting on Kevin O'Connell more than anything else because I think he's an unbelievable coach and what he did with Darnold and what he's done before.
00:48:00
Speaker
I think if he can get 14 wins with Darnold, I could just see him getting at least 11 or 12 with JJ and that'll push the Bears. But I think the Bears have a lot of potential here. It just depends what way Caleb goes if he lives up to the hype.
00:48:14
Speaker
So we've got our picture of who we all think is going to be in each of the AFC and NFC and playoff pictures. Let's go with our matchups then.
00:48:25
Speaker
So for the AFC championship matchup and then the winner of that game, we'll each give what we think. We'll throw it to you first, Evan. What do you think the matchup and result is going to be?
00:48:38
Speaker
I feel like this year um I'm seeing a little bit of a Bills-Ravens head-to-head. I think that's a fairly standard argument to make.
00:48:49
Speaker
Both unbelievably strong teams, both unbelievably talented quarterbacks. um I mean, if you were to see Bills and Ravens in the AFC Championship, and it makes it makes sense.
00:49:01
Speaker
Yeah. And who do you think is going to come out on top if that is the matchup? I've gone Bills. Yeah. got Bills. I think Bills are taking it, yeah. And I think Bills shall be in the Super Bowl this year.
00:49:14
Speaker
Nice. Nice. I've actually gone with the Bills also to get to the Super Bowl, but I've gone with the Texans to be their matchup. I think CJ Stroud is going to have a massive year.
00:49:24
Speaker
He's going to bounce back from last year. I think they've changed the offensive line. They've changed offensive coordinator and they've given him more weapons. And that defense is, as I've already mentioned, absolutely outrageous. Yeah.
00:49:36
Speaker
and they pushed the Chiefs last year after already winning game in the playoffs that they weren't expected to win a few whistles and not go their way in that game so I think they have all the potentials in a down year they got pretty close and so I think they'll make it this year and I think they'll have a surprise big game against the Bills but I just see the Bills edging out and i think it's time now for Josh Allen to get into the Super Bowl so I can see it what have you got Shane I went with the same as yourself. So have the Bills beating the Ravens getting into the Super Bowl.
00:50:09
Speaker
I think the teams this year are just not going to have enough to get themselves to that championship game again, over and over again. There has be a point where they, not even fall away, but there has to be a point where they dip before they come back up again. I think if the Bills don't get there this year, then I don't think they'll ever get there. So this is the year for the Bills.
00:50:26
Speaker
Yeah, I think we're all we're all thinking the Bills. I think it really makes sense in my mind that this is the time they get there. And Ravens is also an interesting shout, but I just feel like the Bills are someone that can get over the hump, whereas I feel the Ravens are just finding it incredibly hard to do so.
00:50:43
Speaker
Even though the Bills are too, I just think it's even more of a mental block for the Ravens. So that's why I've gone Texans, but it's hard to argue with. Year two picks are probably the most likely scenario.
00:50:53
Speaker
Yeah. So then, NFC Championship matchup. What I've gone with is one of my favourite matchups from last year. It's the Eagles and the Rams. I think the Rams are going to be really good.
00:51:06
Speaker
I know Matthew Stafford is an issue, but he's had injuries his whole career and he's played through them all. And I think he'll just continue to play through injuries as a lot of top quarterbacks do. And, you know, I think they don't need to risk him for every game. They've got a solid backup there.
00:51:21
Speaker
And I think when it comes to playoff time, he'll be there. They have a better team. Their defense is growing. And now they've got Devontae Adams as well as Puka. So I really like them. And Eagles speak for themselves. The Rams pushed them so close last year they could have beaten them. They were the only team to be very close.
00:51:38
Speaker
So I think this is going to be a massive matchup. But I'm going to go with the Rams. Give me the Rams back in the Super Bowl. Give me them knocking off the Eagles and taking revenge from last year.
00:51:48
Speaker
Let me see that Josh Allen and Matt Stafford matchup. So guys, what do you think? Shane, I'll throw to you. ah First of all, I think you're mad, but have the Eagles in this championship game as well. um Obviously, I think they do. They speak for themselves. They're absolutely incredible. They're the Super Bowl holders.
00:52:08
Speaker
But I think you know I have them up against the Lions, who I am ah massive fan of this year. And I have the Lions winning the championship. 11-2 were the odds. I think it's going to be a Bills Lions final.
00:52:19
Speaker
It's going to be 70-68 or something silly like that because they're both just going to throw touchdown after touchdown after touchdown. think it's going to be hell of a game. But I'm really big on the Lions this year. um I just think they are... I think they're the business.
00:52:34
Speaker
Hopefully. Yeah, i like their defence. I think they're very good. Aidan Hutchinson being back, so that'll play a big part. And Sue a little. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah.
00:52:45
Speaker
you For myself, for this one, yeah, I see immediately NFC Championship is Eagles. who That is just unanimous, I think, across the board for the most part.
00:52:58
Speaker
However, I've completely gone off script. They're fucking playing the box. They are playing the box in the championship. That is my call.
00:53:09
Speaker
Now I'll be it. I think it's that that's going to be an absolute insane game if that comes to fruition. When you see Baker and Hurts just slugging it down the field, I think that would be an absolute belter of a game.
00:53:22
Speaker
But yeah, that that's my pick for the championship. Eagles and Bucs. I am going to lean, though, towards the Eagles. I would love to see Baker put out a dub, but I just, I can't, I can't see that one happening, unfortunately.
00:53:37
Speaker
we'll give them We'll give them the champs. We'll let them get to the champs. um But then the Eagles are just going to absolutely manhandle them and edge them out by a touchdown. Yeah, that would be ah be good because they've had some good matchups. I think the year before last when the Eagles imploded in the back end of the season, the Bucs made a light work of them in the wildcard game. So that would be an interesting matchup. I'm not that high on the Bucs, but I've seen the argument made. So I think it's nice we've all got a different Super Bowl matchup.
00:54:06
Speaker
We've all got the Bills, but we've all got a different opponent. Yeah. Let's go with you first, Evan, since you are the guest. Who do you think is going to win your Bills versus Eagles matchup in the Super Bowl? i would i would love I would love to see Josh Allen get the dub.
00:54:22
Speaker
I would. I would love to see the Bills take it home. I think it would be an absolute belter of a game. Super Bowl edition, that would be stellar. um And that could potentially, like earlier on...
00:54:33
Speaker
when we were covering MVPs and that, that was kind of what led what led me to this kind of resolution. You know, I see Josh Allen potentially win an MVP. I see Josh Allen holding up that Lombardi.
00:54:46
Speaker
I think it's totally doable. Hurts is going to be a bit of a tough challenge to get you know to get past and especially like the the front four for the Eagles defense is just absolutely cracked as well we obviously talk about Saquon but yeah I think that would be a banger of ah of a Super Bowl Bills to win, let's go Nice, Shane, what have you got for us?
00:55:07
Speaker
I had the Super Bowl going to Michigan this year to the home of the Lions. 12-1 were the odds. I think they will have been really, really hard last year by the way it ended from against Washington. and Going down 45-31 in their home their home field. Washington just coming and making light work for them. They're not going let that happen again. I think they're going to be a lot savvier this year.
00:55:29
Speaker
They have the memory of that from last year. The ones at great price. and I think, as you said we've said already, it is a down year with the Chiefs aren't going to be in and around. so Are the Eagles going to be as good as they were? We'll have to wait and see. But I just really, really, really like the Lions this year, defensively and defensively.
00:55:44
Speaker
They're my favourite team to watch in football, outside the Jets, who would love to torture me. i just think I just think they have i think they have everything there that can just get them over the line.
00:55:56
Speaker
Yeah, and I think everyone would be happy to see either the Bills or Lions win. I think that was the that was the Super Bowl matchup I wanted last year. Massively, I would love to see that.
00:56:07
Speaker
So to see it this year will be great. And to see Dan Campbell win, it would be great. Obviously, I have the Bills and Rams in my matchup. I'm going to follow your lane, Evan. I'm going with the Bills to win. 13-2.
00:56:19
Speaker
and think the young gun takes it off the old guard. The Rams are going to fall short. Although the Rams to win it out at 20-1 is a nice sneaky bet. I feel like I might double that up with the Nuggets to win the and NBA and just have teams that recently got there and have some some solid solid pieces and and take that sneaky one. But the Bills are 13-2 to win it. I really like it.
00:56:42
Speaker
um I think they're the best team in the NFL. They're just brilliant in every facet of their game. And defensively, offensively, I think they do rely too heavily on big plays and splash plays on defense.
00:56:57
Speaker
But I think they'll probably dial in when they need to. And it doesn't matter for the most part if they need to score 60 points. Josh Allen will do that. So we're going to see another massive season from the Bills and I'm going to have them winning it. So got two for the Bills and one for the Lions.
00:57:12
Speaker
Let's keep an eye on on how that's going to go throughout the season. Love the picks, love the picks, lads. let's Let's hit into our extra topics then, the two that we will fly through, the first two, and then we've got a little draft for you to wrap it up.
00:57:25
Speaker
The first one is one hot take each, so I'll throw it to you first, Shane, since you're a man for the hot take. What have you got for our hot take? This one is boiling. The kettle has just boiled on this one. The Jets are the player of the wild card rounds. They're going to win a playoff game.
00:57:42
Speaker
that's my That's my very, very, very hot take on this season. and
00:57:47
Speaker
Oh my God. Yeah, that is brilliant to be fair. You can absolutely laugh now. you know Come back to me in January when they've done it and I'm running around the house bringing my t-shirt around my head like, I was correct.
00:58:00
Speaker
Yes. Yeah, there you go. I would be beyond surprised if they had even night like seven wins. I would be very surprised to be honest. and Justin Fields has not won the last game.
00:58:11
Speaker
but Yeah, the the worst part is that i my hot take the Premier League was West Ham were going to win a cup and they were out the first Santa Baskin in the Carabao. So now hope to win the FA Cup. So hopefully the Jets don't don't fall at the first hurdle as well and lose the first three games and ruin my life again.
00:58:28
Speaker
Yeah, actually yours might, although not directly, it kind of does tie in a little bit to mine and that it's mine is that the Patriots are going to stink. I'm not buying this Patriots.
00:58:39
Speaker
It's crazy but and how bad that team was last year. They are ah offensive line stunk. They added Will Campbell. Yeah, he's he's good. But outside of that, like what else have they got there?
00:58:50
Speaker
Their defense was shocking. Mike Rabel is a good coach. He's not a miracle worker. They are not going to have a winning season. And to to see like what they're over under is they're over eight and a half wins. that People think that they are genuinely going have a winning season.
00:59:05
Speaker
I think it's absolutely outrageous and way too much hype and I'm not buying it. So i think Drake May is good and Trevion Henderson will have a decent season. But outside of that, i'm not overly impressed with them. So that's my hot take.
00:59:19
Speaker
Evan, wrap it up for us with yours. I think this one could be a bit of a wild one, but I think we could see, depending, a banger of a season from the Titans.
00:59:31
Speaker
I think it's obviously going rely heavily on Cam Ward. I think right now they're at like seven and a half wins, I believe, ah for the season. I wouldn't be shocked if Cam Ward was unbelievable um and got them well over that, pushing potentially eight. They're actually at five and half. Oh my God. Yeah. Okay. We'll take the seven and a half. and Yeah. I think that's definitely doable.
00:59:56
Speaker
I think they could do it. In the pocket, he is probably the most nonchalant quarterback I think I've ever seen in my life. Like watching tape at Miami U was nuts.
01:00:07
Speaker
People bursting through the edge, people coming up the middle, and it's it's a little sidestep. He's looking at option one, two, three, and just letting it rip. He's such a good talent.
01:00:18
Speaker
i'm I'm pretty envious of the Titans. I'm a big fan of Ken Ward. I watched a lot of him last season when I was in Florida and I happened to catch a decent amount of college ball over there.
01:00:30
Speaker
watching some you know cause like Watching football here sucks ass because you're usually watching it at midnight. So yeah, being being on that time zone and getting to catch like games at normal times is class.
01:00:42
Speaker
But yeah, I think them, while pushing above that over, would not shock me if he's class. Because we talked about it earlier on, like, Calvin Ridley is a stud.
01:00:53
Speaker
and So if he can link up with his weapons, I wouldn't be shocked if they have a moderately reasonable season considering. Yeah, i I was close to including them in my kind of underdog show.
01:01:06
Speaker
And I wouldn't be surprised if they finish second in that division. I wouldn't be one bit of surprised. So I think the five and a half is way too low for them. So I like that one too. I like that show.
01:01:17
Speaker
Then we've got our three best bets and that we've come across. So I'll rattle off mine quickly. All three of mine are like accumulators or parlays, depending on your vernacular.
01:01:29
Speaker
Bills and Rams to win their conferences. So the Super Bowl matchup of Bills and Rams is 47 to 1. And I really like that. I think that's really nice odds. So that's kind of what I'm leaning towards.
01:01:41
Speaker
And then... three teams to make the playoffs these are all nfc teams all three teams i think will get there falcons vikings sorry yeah falcons vikings and seahawks they're all um under evens so if you put those three together it's 12 to 1 um i like that one for for three teams that can get in and then lastly texans lions and falcons to win their divisions that's 18 to 1 i think the texans and lions are nailed on the falcons are Maybe a tougher one.
01:02:10
Speaker
um So I do fancy them, though, to get there. So 18-1, I think that's my favourite out the three, but they're my three best bets. We'll go with to you, Shane. What have you got for yours? So I'm going to go with Tray McBride to score over five and a half touchdowns.
01:02:27
Speaker
um I like it. It's minus 143. I didn't have time to transfer it over to real betting odds. I just i couldn't. I was there trying to work it out. of like, is that...
01:02:39
Speaker
What is it? Is that 1-4 or whatever it is? John Robinson to lead the NFL in rushing yards is 90-1. I think that's absolutely outrageous. And then the Jets said 49-10 to make it into the playoffs is the one for me.
01:02:53
Speaker
I think it's like 1-1.43 or something like that. So it's like pretty much evens around that point, that Trevor Bride one. What have you got then, Evan, for your three best bets?
01:03:08
Speaker
So I didn't actually go like parallel wise, you know, setting up a little bit better kind of thing. I just overall went with some potential overs or potential unders that I like. Now you could obviously throw them together right to hand. i don't have the actual odds.
01:03:24
Speaker
But one that I love is Cardinals plus eight and a half wins. I think that's a pretty solid pick overall. They're looking really strong this year. i cannot wait to see Marvin Harrison on year two.
01:03:38
Speaker
I don't know. Did you see the comparison photo between year one and year two, Marvin Harrison? But he's absolutely jacked out of his mind. Yeah, he looks like he's going to be a solid.
01:03:49
Speaker
but I mean, he was solid last year, so even more so this year. So I'm looking look forward to seeing him pop off. So we've gone with Cardinals plus eight and a half um for wins. I think we're going to go Browns minus four and a half wins. We're going with the under.
01:04:05
Speaker
I think the Browns are going to be absolute dog. It's such a tough one because it's like, who are they playing? Well, they're saying they're starting Flacco. I want to see I do want to see more Shador and I honestly want to see more Dylan Gabriel as well.
01:04:18
Speaker
So, yeah, they're just in an absolute mess. I'm going minus four and a half on their wins. And the other that I'm throwing in there for your third to string together is Cowboys plus seven and a half.
01:04:32
Speaker
I think the loss of Paris is obviously huge. yeah But I think, like we said earlier on, it could be like a very Bengals-ish situation where we're just going tit for tat up and down the field.
01:04:45
Speaker
Obviously, with that situation going back and forth like that, losses are going to come your way, um especially if you're not able to stop points coming your side. So, yeah, it's going to be a tough one. But I'm going Cowboys plus seven and a half.
01:04:58
Speaker
Nice. I think if you add those three together, you're probably going to get around eight to one on your odds, roughly speaking. So that would be nice. Shane, fire away. i need to just yeah I just need to correct myself. So I think I said it's Beezer and Robinson at 90-1 to be the leading receiver.
01:05:14
Speaker
um but He's obviously not 90-1, he's nine to one I just misspoke. And also Prescott, to show the most intersections, is 12-1. So I think he should be putting the house on that. Yeah. sorry okay yeah if they're trying to chase things then that's possible it's possible that he's trying to force it but wait you said bijan leading receiver yeah no to be the leading rusher sorry um he's 90 i said 90 to 1 whenever it's route natural yeah fair i'd say he's probably like around more than 90 to 1 to be the leading receiver but rusher yeah that makes sense
01:05:51
Speaker
I could see it. I could see it happening. I think they're going to rely heavily on that. And then some big plays over the top at Michael Penix. So last thing for you guys before we wrap up, we're doing an over-under wins draft. So we're going to do it snake style.
01:06:07
Speaker
let's Let's do a spin the wheel here live and see which person comes out on top. You have it? I've done it already. i dont Yeah, so it's Evan first, you second, me last.
01:06:20
Speaker
Okay, okay, fair enough. We've got Evan as the leader, so he's going to take it off. We're going to pick basically which over-under wins we like. So the standard line, we're not picking alternate lines where we you give like a team extra or less.
01:06:34
Speaker
It's the standard bookie line where it's pretty much evens if you go over or under. You can't pick the same as somebody else unless they pick the over and you really like the under, then that's perfectly fine. It's a snake-style draft, so it'll start with Evan, then me, Shane, and it goes back to Shane again. So we're going to pick five each.
01:06:50
Speaker
At the end of the year, let's see who does the best. I might throw my five into an accumulator and see how that cracks on. But let's get the ball rolling with you, Evan. What's the overall number one overall pick here?
01:07:02
Speaker
i I did really like that Cardinals plus eight and a half wins. I'm a big fan of that. I think they're going absolutely do it. So that is the one that I would like to lock in.
01:07:13
Speaker
Nice over 8.5 wins. So for the Cardinals is our first pick off the... I'm going with the Texans. I think it's an absolute lock that they get 9.5 wins. I don't know why it's so low because they have an easy division and they're going to be better than last year. So over 9.5 without a shadow of a doubt is coming in for the Texans in my opinion.
01:07:32
Speaker
Shane, what have you got? um I can't believe this came to me because we were just talking about it less than five minutes ago, but the Patriots at eight and a half, they're going under. and I'm the same with you. I just don't see where they're getting their wins from this year. So I'm going Patriots under eight and a half. Nice. Yeah, I had that on my list.
01:07:51
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Me again. Then I'm going the Chiefs at 11 and a half is far too high from this year. I'm going under on Chiefs for 11 and a half. Yeah, I think that's a that's fair enough. I think the Chiefs are going to have a bit a tougher season. We both picked them to go under recently when we previewed them, so can't argue with that.
01:08:10
Speaker
I've gone with Falcons over seven and a half next. I think seven and a half is way too low. I think they're a really good team. I think they'll win this division. And even if they don't, to get eight wins, they can easily do that.
01:08:22
Speaker
I think they got eight wins last year. So I think, yeah, they've got a solid game plan and they've got some good pieces. So I'm picking the Falcons next. Back to you, so Evan, for a double pick. Okay, first I shall take Rams over 9.5 wins.
01:08:38
Speaker
I think that's absolutely doable. um I know you had the Rams highly in your playoff prediction. Yeah, I can see them absolutely doing it as well. Yeah, Rams over 9.5. And then but my back-to-back for the second then, I see the Bills doing it. I see the Bills coming out with the Super Bowl.
01:08:57
Speaker
We're going over 11.5 wins. Yeah, but... it's it's a lot of winds but with how good they are, it's hard to, hard to argue with them getting there. And some of the teams in the division are obviously weaker. So I also had the but Rams over on my list.
01:09:14
Speaker
So that's gone right now. But next up then I'm going to take the Seahawks over eight and a half. And as I mentioned, I think they're very good. They got nine wins last year. i think they can do better this year. I think they can get 10 or 11.
01:09:27
Speaker
So I think at least matching last year is very much within the realm of possibility for them. So I'm taking the Seahawks over eight and a half. ah So I'm taking the Lions over 10 and a half.
01:09:39
Speaker
I think I have to. I've talked to about it so much this whole way too. I have to put them in there. I'm also taking the Jets over five and a half. I think it's far too low for a team that are going to make the wild card spot. So I'm having that as a pleasing. Thank you.

Team Predictions: Vikings, Broncos, Raiders, Bengals

01:09:50
Speaker
lovely stuff you've got your jets pick in there next up i'm going with the vikings eight and a half i think it's too low again for a team that won 14 games last year no matter how poor jj mccarthy is i don't think he's that like people think he's going to be hopeless but he's not a five win drop-off or a six win drop-off from sam darnold So maximum they lose here is five games extra than last year. And that would still be nine wins. So I'm taking that over eight and a half. I think it's far too low in my opinion.
01:10:23
Speaker
Nice. Nice. Yeah. I dig that one. I do dig that one. And have I got one more? You've got two more. You've got one more left. So one more. Okay. For my final one, I'm going to punch in brongoss Broncos over nine and a half wins.
01:10:39
Speaker
And I think, I think they're going to I think they're going to pretty well this year. So yeah, give me that over. Yeah, I think that has to be has to be in play for a lot of a chance of them getting into the playoffs, which we all think they will. Shane, you thought they'd win the division. and So we all probably believe that that's going to come to fruition. So a good shout there.
01:10:59
Speaker
I've actually got my one, two, three, four, five, the five I wanted most. The fifth one is Raiders over six and a half. i think this is an absolute lock. Pete Carroll has gone 17 straight seasons with seven wins.
01:11:13
Speaker
He only once had less than that. And that was six wins with the Jets in 1994 when he had them for one year. When he went back to the Jets, he never went below that. He never went below that with the Seahawks. And now he's going over to the Raiders and he has Geno Smith. He's got Ashton Gentry, Brock Bowers.
01:11:28
Speaker
They've got a solid enough defense, Max Crosby. I think seven wins is easily doable, even in this strong division. So that's my fifth pick. And taking Shane's reaction, I guess he wanted that too.
01:11:40
Speaker
I'm feeling myself because I should have taken the Jets at five and the Raiders at four because obviously you've never picked the Jets but there was a chance. Oh, for Christ's sake. um
01:11:54
Speaker
What do I want here? I'm going to take the Bengals to go under 10.5. I still think to get out of the division all but I just think 10.5 is quite a stretch even though have them down. 9.5, even better. I'll take them over 9.5 so I'll take them to get 10 wins.
01:12:09
Speaker
Okay, so you're going to sit them at 10. You're playing right on that line. Exactly 10. Exactly 10, yeah. Sweet. So you should do the alternate line there. You should grab the alternate line of 10.5 and bang the under and then grab the over on the 9.5 and just live in a happy world. Then I will be buying a house out of it. That's unbelievable.
01:12:29
Speaker
Nice

Review and Future Content Plans

01:12:32
Speaker
one. So we've got our full wrap here. um My picks then were Texans over nine and a half, Falcons over seven and a half, Seahawks over eight and a half, Vikings over eight and a half, and Raiders over six and a half.
01:12:46
Speaker
Shane, what are your five picks? The Patriots under eight and a half, the Chiefs go under 11 and a half, Lions over 10 and a half, Jets, Miles over five and a half, and Bengals over nine and a half to get exactly 10.
01:13:00
Speaker
And Evan, what have you got for us? but We have our Cardinals over 8.5. have over 11.5. We have our Broncos over 9.5. our Rams over 9.5. Was that I think you had one more. You had...
01:13:12
