Speaker: Hello the Eberron Campaign setting.
Speaker: I am your game
Speaker: master, Eric.
Speaker: and welcome to eon renew natural clay podcast at the iron campaign setting i am your game master eric I'm Mia. I'm Phillip. And I'm Jeff.
Speaker: And welcome to another episode. Folks, what happened last time? Heart. There was some heart. We talked with, oh, and I don't have my notes up yet. Vrela. Yes. talking about how long Just Vrela. Not Vrela.
Speaker: Vrela. With Vrela, about how long she had been LaMadia, why she was there, who sent her there. the dragon saw of it all. There's now a tree that's in both worlds, possibly intended to be like an infinite lumber hack, basically. Yep. As long as they don't kill it, it should just continue produce forever.
Speaker: But that's causing Lamania to bleed over into everything. To be clear, quicker than a normal tree. I know that's how trees work. so just This one's magical. Copcing and whatnot.
Speaker: I was going to let it go. I had questions, but i was going to let it Yes, but yeah, you all were headed to the tree. Vriel feels like there's a certain sense... of urgency, she also described that the acorn burrows deep down into the earth. And so in order to sever the connection between the sister trees, you have to go down there and destroy the acorn. Um, there's no like just chopping the tree down to separate. it Um, and it is unclear what happened to the onesmiths at this point.
Speaker: So Yeah. I think they're dead. Well, I'm not going to spoil for you, Phil. Also, I swallowed my Coke Zero wrong and now my throat hurts really bad.
Speaker: Who's the real Coke Zero? Know what I mean? I'm sorry, are you okay? it It hurts really like... I'm good. I swallowed correctly and it just tasted good. Yeah, you were trying to talk while drinking.
Speaker: I'm not a good... Wisely. So... As you all continuing to walk, I know we were talking with Vraelle, talking with each other. Any other conversations that you all would like to make up on the road? Balinor is with you as is... what's name?
Speaker: Notes. Jadeway. Mela, yes. And her dog, Barna. or So you have a three-eyed wolf, a spectral wolf, Vrail, and Mela, but not Vraela. And both the dogs' names start with bees.
Speaker: One of them bit more recognizable and memorable, I feel like. But all this means is Eric has a lot of admins for any upcoming combat encounters. Sorry.
Speaker: I have my own party. Yeah. You all heard of DMPCs. Have you ever heard of DM party though? So ah yeah, any, any conversations or things that you all would like to bring up, ask of Rayo or Mela or each other, preferably not Selina though.
Speaker: My magical impression is about 80% there. I would love to hear it. I feel like we're going to talk to Selina.
Speaker: I mean, we have a plan, which is to get down below the tree and try and sever it. It has been strongly implied that that will not be easy. And we don't know where the bad guys are.
Speaker: So most of the variables are not resolvable right now. So X is just anticipating.
Speaker: That's perfect.
Speaker: Was there an actual, I don't remember, I thought there was mention that a braille had poison or something to destroy? Yeah. Yeah. or To kill the seed, right? Yeah. To kill the seed.
Speaker: Yeah. I get to keep my jar of light tonight. I bet that poison would kill most things, but we specifically need it for the seed map. That's very probably very true.
Speaker: An unbelievably targeted poison. Well, I mean, the Jar of Blight was said that you could just dump it and it's going to kill the entire forest. Everyone's going to have to leave because the forest is going to be gone.
Speaker: But that would make some people They won't be dead. They won't be dead for now. sit Soon. Soon. No, I don't have any other questions. at the show Everyone can give me a wisdom-based check to perceive.
Speaker: ah are you saying I need dice? Typically for this style of game.
Speaker: And you said charisma, right? well that just Didn't say no Just a 14 for Kaz. Nyx is locked in. This is a natural 20. Okay. 26. You literally said she's anticipating. So I did. 26 for Valk.
Speaker: Natural 20 for Nyx. Kaz is checking out the ghost dog. For the record, Valk still beats my check. So due to the high nature of both of your results, but you get a little bit of bonus information, I'm gonna say.
Speaker: Uh, so as you're walking through, this is a heavily wooded forested area. So there are bird songs going on, the sound of nature all around you. Something that you all pick up on is you start to notice, like, there's a bit of a repetitive nature to the bird song.
Speaker: And in fact, there's a particularly like sharp trill chirp that is fairly distinctive that you hear like repeated on a cadence.
Speaker: Like we need to change the battery, the smoke alarm or is it more at forebodings? Let's say ah signal. No, it's almost like a it it it sounds like a sharp bird cry. It's not unnatural, but it happens at the same point every cycle.
Speaker: And you guessed that about every, i don't know why I'm being coy about it. Every 47 seconds, it sounds like the bird songs around you lip- Like that Stark Trill one is like a definitive marker, but as you like hone in on it, you realize that all of the other bird songs around it are same.
Speaker: But that's not what you were checking for. You also, Nyx and Valk, you hear footfalls to either side of you closing in. These are quadrupeds, you can tell. The shaking the ground?
Speaker: No, they are they are heavy, but they're not, oh God, oh God, we're going to die heavy. And i will say that each of you get a plus two due to pass the perception check. So Jeff, you'll just roll normally to an initiative roll as a pack of dire wolves descend upon you all.
Speaker: Man. He's fantastic. jump Set up my ridiculous... Oops, boy. Wait, what was I adding? I know you just said it.
Speaker: Two. Oh. In addition to whatever else. Not finishing up. That's a 23. that's a twenty t three 23. right. 22. Mine is at 11. Okay.
Speaker: withal okay Okay. So the rail rolled the highest. So rail will go first, then Valk, then Nix, then the wolves, then Kaz, then Mayla. Okay.
Speaker: Vrail is going to go first. So the wolves come out of the bushes, bristling and snarling. And Vrail snarls and pulls a, pulls an arrow and draws it back.
Speaker: As she pulls back, she's going to use her ability Legendary Quarry to mark one of the wolves. and then she is going to attack as a 27 to hit which does hit the first wolf there are five wolves thank you you're welcome so she's still maybe eight plus another two for her quarry abilities
Speaker: Um, she sinks an arrow between the ribs of one of the wolves, just a fraction of an inch off. ah So you see blood begin to come out of the wound pretty profusely. The wolf is gravely injured, but not quite dead as she.
Speaker: shoots And then she falls back a little bit just to stay like she is a ranged ah i offensive character and Balinor stands in front of her in a defensive posture.
Speaker: And now it Valk's turn. I will... I get my... gain my focus. And that is what I can do. you All right. Nyx, so the wolves are split three and two on either side of your group.
Speaker: Rail turned to a group of three and shot one of them. and But they have not moved yet. You are muted. Sorry. Okay, that suggests that there is essentially an unattended pair of wolves on the other side closing in on us. So Nyx seeing the just enormous spectral wolf standing between the group and the trio of wolves will turn and draw out her weapon as she,
Speaker: moves to interpose herself between the group and the, ah the pair of wolves on the other side. as soon as I engage one of those wolves, it takes three damage.
Speaker: And then i will attack with my soul for a natural 20. Oh my. I need to be, I have not critted in so very long. I need to be reminded what what the process for a crit is in this system.
Speaker: I believe it it's, go ahead. I believe we decided it was max possible for, you you double the dice, you give max possible the first time and roll for the second Yeah.
Speaker: Okay. Goodness. So that's 40 damage for the max. Cause I roll four D tens. Plus nine attack. Reduce five.
Speaker: 71 damage. Nyx.
Speaker: writtens five seventy one damage nis I would like for you to describe what you do with this wolf. The only thing I will ask from a GM perspective, because I do have a thing that happens after the wolf dies is keep the body intact.
Speaker: it' he Is this thing a mook? Like, is this a group of mooks or? Yes, this is a group of mooks. How many of them have I killed? Oh, that's fair.
Speaker: One, and you've done significant damage to the next one. Yes. Wow. Okay. These mooks have quite, they're, they're chunky mooks. Well, sure. Yeah. I mean, on a, on a crit, I can deal 72 damage. So I, I assume that the, uh, the hit points of the monsters have increased. Nyx charges and the sword comes out and I think she, she'd like,
Speaker: The wolf springs and Nyx just sort of sidesteps just right so that the the the wolf's spring carries it onto her sword and sword just straight through the throat of the wolf.
Speaker: And then she rips it out the side into a cut at the at the other one. Oh, my. All right. So, yeah. So, this thing's... Okay, so Nyx, the body of this dire wolf that you just annihilated falls to the ground.
Speaker: And you see for a brief moment, all four of the legs of the wolf snap and like face the wrong direction.
Speaker: And then they snap back into place and then flop down to the ground. nu I'm not happy that I did that favor for you of leaving the body and you've made me You've made me not happy about agreeing to that. You're a party to that now.
Speaker: but And I think you do. Retcon my destructive capacity.
Speaker: retcon being a supportive player to your GM. Correct. and I do play in one of your games and I am petting. Okay, so it is the wolf's turn.
Speaker: So the wolf that Nyx just like did a insane amount of damage to after killing its packmate is going to rush up and attack.
Speaker: Nice.
Speaker: That is a natural 18.
Speaker: So that is a 27 hit. Oh, 27 hit. Okay. Yes, that hits. And that is going to be 16 damage. As its teeth ah try to bite past your armor, Nyx.
Speaker: Nyx, as you're being attacked, you see something out of the corner of your eye. i think Nyx just being hypervigilant in combat. This isn't something you need to roll for. You notice that the the body of the wolf on the ground...
Speaker: doesn't have a shadow and the shadow, there's a shadow of a wolf behind you kind of like snarling and ready to pounce. It doesn't attack, but it seems like the shadow of the wolf you killed is delayed in reality.
Speaker: It's not aware that this host is dead. Okay. the so vrail did fall back so let's see who the wolf is interested in valk uh one of the wolves in the other group is going to rush up that is a 26 to hit your ac of course 16 damage okay i'm gonna do moment okay
Speaker: but that What is that? That is to hit. that does hit
Speaker: this spot um
Speaker: okay ah hold on Holding. What do you got there? Sounds like a lot of dice. Yeah. Okay. That is 23 wisdom damage. Or psychic damage. Was it staggered?
Speaker: twenty three wi em damage recycling damage that that that was it staggered It is now staggered after from taking that damage, but it wasn't on staggered before.
Speaker: Okay. The next one is going to attempt to attack Vrael. So he's going to rush up and the Spectrum form of Balador rises up to meet it, which triggers a attack this die is rolling very hot tonight that is another natural 17 but this time it's for your all's benefit so this wolf is bleeding its fur is matted from all the blood running down its inside as it leaps up and then the spectral form of the dire wolf rises up to meet it and they clash and you it's the wolf that is attacking
Speaker: just has kind of the life force drained from it. It falls, the blood kind of dries very quickly. And then it does the leg snappy thing, snaps back. But you see the shadow of the wolf pass through and like snarl about to pounce on Braille.
Speaker: And the last one is going to attack Kazimir. Okay. Okay. Okay. All things being balanced. That is only a 14 to hit your AC, Kaz.
Speaker: It does not. Okay. Kaz, bobs and weaves out of the way of a dire. And now we are to Kaz's turn. Okay, so I rolled an icon die and I got the blood of Vol as my that's why icon. So what happens is as this wolf is rushing at Kaz...
Speaker: A well of confidence kind of just wells up it's inside of... Let me see if I hit before I... I don't think too confidently. Oh, he's back. you Hey, what did you hear me say? Nothing. You started to tell us what happens as the wolf is rushing at Kaz. Okay. And you were caught in this pose. It began like this. Because when I got to here, I stopped and said, let me roll first to make sure it's... That's very funny. But it was a 19 to hit. ah What are you attacking?
Speaker: The wolf that came at me. AC, physical defense, mental defense. Oh, I'm so sorry. Of course. You're good. It is physical defense. That hits. Okay. And it was a natural even, which means I get... like if That doesn't matter right now. All right.
Speaker: So as it is rushing at Kaz, Kaz just gets this kind of amazing... sense of confidence that he does not typically have. And like you said, he bobs and weaves. He kind of shifts his weight out of the way and brushes across the fur of the wolf as it goes past him. And you see claw marks akin to a dragon score down the side of this wolf. And he takes 30, sorry, points
Speaker: um of damage in negative energy damage, if that's important to you. Okay. So yeah, it's, it's rather than it's looking like the, the physical raking of dragon claws. Sure. It's like the third dies ah in the, in the pattern, like just the negative energy just saps into the wolf in the pattern of the raking of draconic claws.
Speaker: like it. Okay. Awesome. And I am going to Yeah, no, I'm not going to my quick action. So I think I'm... And I'll stay engaged with this wolf. And I'm supposed to pull my next one now just case I start to fly.
Speaker: And I might. And I don't. Okay. Okay. yeah Nothing more happens now. Okay, I'm going treat Meila's ability as though I am a PC and ask you all as a fellow player, which defense would you all most want to have an advantage to hit these wolves with? AC, physical defense, or mental defense? I would benefit most from AC.
Speaker: assume, I would bet their mental defense is not you c incredibly high.
Speaker: First off, Lude. Yes, sir. yeah sir So AC, is there any any other thoughts from the group? No, that's fine. I think that's fine. Yeah, ac's AC is... Okay. yeah so So, Meila is going to make a wisdom roll to try and spot their weaknesses.
Speaker: And that is a success. So she is able to point out some weaknesses with the dire wolf's anatomy. There's soft spots, there's soft underbellies, whatnot.
Speaker: And if you all roll an attack to attack AC, you get a plus two. Eric, I'm so sorry. I pulled my attack die next and I can't remember. That's what I rolled weirdness on.
Speaker: yeah We decide the weirdest kicks in at the end of my turn until the end of my next one or at the beginning of my next turn. It starts when you you draw the end of your turn and roll everything at end of your turn, and then that following round, it's active until your next turn.
Speaker: Okay. So, roll it out. But you don't need to know what it is now, or you do? Yes. It is happening currently. Okay. There's a large magical spectral effect and of my choice. I don't know what.
Speaker: But what's important is each creature in this battle now ignores all resistances. Oh, God. Oh. Yeah. okay Cool. That's what I rolled.
Speaker: Is it... Take... Play the dice. Is it... Describe the spectacle, Jeffrey. Yeah, I know. I have to describe the spectacle. what Jeffrey. What... what is it You know what?
Speaker: I think... I think... The canopy... What? The canopy opens and a a light... like which we have not seen on the material plane, almost like ah a glenn in the middle of a forest, casts down and the battlefield is awash with this ethereal light now. And because of that, all resistances are null and void until the end of my next turn.
Speaker: Nice. Who has resistances? Nix, what are you resistant to? Nix does, I knew Nix. I used to be resistant to physical damage and fire. And you will be again, my boy.
Speaker: In one short round. I don't remember if this was one time or just in general, but I thought it was everyone has a resistance to poison.
Speaker: Oh, yes. We were all resistant to poison in preparation for this adventure. Not right now, though. Okay. Thank you, Kaz. Yes. Mayla. Yes.
Speaker: Welcome. Has just gone to give you all that bonus. And then Barna is going to attempt to attack the wolf that just ran past Kaz.
Speaker: is going to roll a natural one. Barna snarls. Unsatisfied. The escalation die. Is that a one? Vrael. Has Barna hit anything?
Speaker: I don't know. I don't think I don't know. Barna might be a tracking wolf and not a fighting wolf. Maybe. Gotta to get it together, Barna. Okay. Rail is going to... The wolf that she initially shot is now dead. She is going to... Sorry, I'm just looking at her abilities. I'm going to try to shoot the one that is also attacking Kaz.
Speaker: Thanks, everyone. Oh yeah, that's only a 17 versus eight. But male's ability plus two is a 19, which is a hit. That is 12 damage, which takes out that wolf.
Speaker: So Kaz, you rake it with the negative energy and as it slides past you, an arrow comes flying in and hits the wolf in the eye, sinking into its head as it falls over.
Speaker: And then all four of its legs snap backwards and then snap back into place. Uh, and as Shadow continues to run. Val, your turn. I am going to gain my focus.
Speaker: Okay. And I'll probably fall back with rail. Okay. Give me a disengage roll. If you don't want an opportunity attack from the wolf that's on you.
Speaker: I mean, might as well. No, that's a three. Okay. So are you going to stay there or do you want to go ahead and move? I will stay. I was trying to see that was it.
Speaker: Okay. Yeah. Okay. I'll see. It is now Nyx's turn. You still one wolf on you, Nyx. Okay. I you will try to put an end to that wolf because it bit me and I didn't like it when it bit me. That is a natural 19. So a whole lot.
Speaker: Yes. Because I have crit. Oh, right. This sword now deals an extra 15 damage.
Speaker: yeahm remember that I remember that. Yeah. I remember thinking he's not going to crit that much. and This is, I believe, the second time I've crit since you gave me this weapon in the first adventure. So you were correct, Eric. Are there crit fishing feats in this system? i didn't want to. To my knowledge, no, but I haven't looked that deeply. Plus, yeah, 46 damage.
Speaker: Describe what you do to this wolf. I mean, it bites me and Nyx brings the blade around and just drives the sword down through its torso and pulls it out and will immediately move across to engage one of the other wolves on the other side.
Speaker: All four legs snap back, snap back into place. Nyx has got a back turn to it. She doesn't, I don't, i don't nobody notices that happen. Nobody sees it. Did it really even happen? The wolf that you just killed, its shadow chases you across the battlefield.
Speaker: The one that you killed last turn falls over dead. We have to fight these wolves again when we get back to Eberron. The shadows going be waiting for us. It is now Valk that is on Wolf's turn.
Speaker: The wolf that is on Valk's turn. I didn't plan for that. call That is not my best roll. 16 versus AC? No.
Speaker: A solid 17 on our squishy boy. that Well, it was good enough this time. but That is the only wolf still standing. So that is it for the wolf's turn.
Speaker: It is now Kazimir Panarius's turn. Yes. And okay. How many wolves are still up? Uno.
Speaker: Yeah. Well, let's, let's, let's get them. This is a oof natural two. So that's 10, 11, 11 versus physical defense.
Speaker: Uh, that is not going to do it. Then Kaz. cheers on his effective teammate and stares into the middle distance.
Speaker: Draw for your next turn and let's see if things get weird. I'm gonna. Oh yeah. And now resistance is returned regardless of what happened. right. And I got a Nusker. Okay. Yeah. Things are getting something be hilarious if he rolled the resistance thing again, just just as a liar. It is not impossible.
Speaker: Okay. So first things first, I did roll another attack. So by attacking war, i don't think I'll have an extra, but who 83 big numbers don't always mean anything crazy. Okay.
Speaker: I begin to blur in space, spirit, and time. And on my next turn, I can fight in spirit. Oh, that's general turn.
Speaker: That's a mechanic where if a player character gets killed or something, you basically get to like cheer on and grant a plus plus something. Fight in spirit.
Speaker: Page 166 in the core rulebook. According to my table. Last one to two rounds, can give a plus two bonus to armor class, physical defense, or mental defense to an ally.
Speaker: Okay. So if we make it to a next turn for me, I could do that for somebody as well as take my normal turn. For sure. um As Kaz begins to flutter and blur in and out of reality a little bit, Valk, you glance over in Kaz's direction. Ooh, it's me, old Kaz. You see...
Speaker: Kaz like shifting quickly between various phases in his life. And then you see sneaking up or what appearing behind Kaz is our dear friend, the sexy bug lady.
Speaker: Um, and she grabs Kaz by the forehead and brings a blade up. And just as she's about to make contact, she disappears. but she has locked eyes with you the whole time, Val.
Speaker: Oh, no. Important question. Does that make her sexier or less sexy? I should think we're having a ah moment of awakening. We'll get back to you and get back to you. Val girls for learn things about themselves. Roll for self-discovery. Okay, and that is and that is my turn.
Speaker: Okay. Mela is going to quickly wisdom check. That is a success.
Speaker: Valk and Nyx each got bit. you Either you have any damage coming into this fight or you all fully healed up. we were We should have been fully killed. Did we just run? Yeah, I was fine. things thought I'm not now, I was.
Speaker: Valk still has the wolf on them, so she's going to... Valk, you get to use a free recovery right now to heal up some healing points. And you get to add 7 HP to the recovery total.
Speaker: I don't think I'll need it, but okay. It's 21, so I'm full. I'm back up. you're active and the way this looks is barna runs past you out and like shimmering golden light is like being left in barna's wake and it like envelops you and you feel restored as barna runs by i don't think that helps me mentally well physically you feel great escalation dies now at a two everyone good news
Speaker: Vrail is going to take a shot at this wolf. That is a natural three. It's only an 18 after male is plus two, which is not enough.
Speaker: So Vrail does shoot wide. I had a spell that would have fixed that, and I had that for the last three arcs, but nobody missed attacks, so I removed it. That's too good.
Speaker: Too funny. Bet it would have looked real cool, too. Anyway, Valk, your turn. I'm not doing anything. I'm staring at Kaz. Okay. Kaz, Valk stares at you.
Speaker: um'm I'm staring past. it kaz no because those are two actions is it can i i want to ah something else bad is going to happen but i i want to put on the the death mask right i have that yeah i have that which means i don't have to roll to disengage okay yeah and then i'm gonna go in kaz's direction okay just a beeline
Speaker: You rush into Kaz. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. You, the wolf does swipe at you, but you phase through as you move away. Yep. Kaz, Valk is coming at you.
Speaker: I'm assuming Valk has been possessed by something by the mask. Okay. Nyx, there is one wolf left. it just tried to attack Valk. Okay.
Speaker: Attack that wolf. Okay. That's going 22 to hit. Yes, that will hit. i miss the apocalyptic sound of rolling my handfuls of metal dice.
Speaker: That is merely 30 damage. Low damage roll. What does Nyx do to this wall? I mean, it's lunging at, at Valk. And so I think as it, as it does, Nick's steps, steps in it and just sort of shoulder checks it. And then as it's recovering, Nick's just hacks its head off. Like, okay.
Speaker: There's no fancy fencing when you're fighting against a creature that's like waist high on you. Like it's yeah. All four of it's like snap back and then snap into place. Oh, what? This is the first time Nyx has been looking at it when it happened. yeah The shadow that was chasing you falls over.
Speaker: There's only one shadow still up, and it's the wolf that you just killed. And now we post-combat. So if you all would like to recharge anything that you used that was a recharge roll...
Speaker: um
Speaker: Are we in a breather situation? Yes. I believe you can take a quick rest. I'm going to spend day recovery.
Speaker: Cool. Alrighty. Just before that happened. Well, actually, curious curiously, loud noises, snarling, howling, and death just occurred right here in a normal forest.
Speaker: that would freak out the birds and things that we've been hearing. So when this dies, is the, when when this ends and things go quiet, does the repetitive pattern of birdsong, is it still going on?
Speaker: ah It's, it is quiet when the combat concludes. And then after probably, 47 seconds. Yeah. really i You hear the loud chirping and the bird song like begins again.
Speaker: Just before this happened, just before the wolves are here, I noticed that our song that we're hearing, that song is is it it is on a loop. It's repeating.
Speaker: Does anyone else? Someone tell me I'm not crazy. I mean, I listened for a 40-70 second. Just hold still. Because I did not notice it because of my role, so I can't immediately help you out. And then, like an insane person, as soon as the, like, chirp happens, goes, there!
Speaker: I agree that it is happening. Vril sits down on a like fallen tree with Balinor taking a seat next to as She gathers her breath and like starts cleaning off the arrows that she used. And I'm glad that there are others here because I thought I was going crazy.
Speaker: But yes, I didn't know that. It hasn't always been that way. Probably in the last couple of weeks. And then the wolf shadow next to next falls over dead. I'm going to take off the mask.
Speaker: Can I get a sense of Zoriad or anything around? Give me a... Oh, Kaz, obviously, that we're out of combat, stops like flittering around and like re-solidifies into his normal flange.
Speaker: Give me an intelligence or wisdom tech about to kind of investigate. Paranormal investigator will be applicable. but bay on Wisdom has bonus, so that's... or has a class bonu so that's Very high, if I can get to the right tab.
Speaker: That is... 29.
Speaker: 29 plus 4? You can do that. 33. Good job. Thanks. Yeah, you... Val, you're getting major, like... Not major.
Speaker: You're getting... Confirmable in your mind anyway, like Zoriath vibes. Like... Like it's the right time of the year for it to be a little coterminous is kind of the vibe that you're getting. That's just like, the is that specifically for Kaz or just in general in this area? Also, also the wolves. Like, that obviously they're late. Like, you are a paranormal investigator. You know Lamania well enough to know that when Lamania and wolves die, their legs don't snap and break and then snap back into place and their shadows don't keep on and chasing things around. That's what they want you to think.
Speaker: So you're definitely getting like, whether or not you are going to attribute it to Valk's unyielding paranoia about Zoriat or if it's confirmable of like yes these things are lighting up that knows something weird is going on and it's not Lamania weirdness the the bug lady appearance with Kaz you very much get the sense that that was for you like she wasn't like a part of Kaz's story she was invading it
Speaker: Yeah.
Speaker: To mess with you. Can I look at Barna? Barna's little eyeball. Yeah, Barna's third eye is open and kind of looking around. It is like, Barna is looking at Balinor because wicked cool ghost wolf.
Speaker: But it's, Barna's third eye is not looking in that direction. Barna's third eye is looking at the fallen shadow of the last wolf.
Speaker: Which looks really weird that for a wolf to have three eyes and then one of them just be looking something else. You get used to it. It's fine. Okay. yeah It's weird for a wolf with two eyes to have the look independently of the wolf. To be clear. It'd be a derpy looking wolf.
Speaker: Mood, mood for those of the ancient internet. Yeah. gak Are you going to talk about any of this with the group or is Vap still formulating?
Speaker: And if you would like me to repeat anything so that Valk doesn't lie to the group because Mia wasn't paying attention, then let me know. Check out Ever Unreviewed if you don't get that reference.
Speaker: bush I think Valk is just looking at Kaz now and is just very stuttering. I'm now at like half of my stress points. so Yeah.
Speaker: I think Valk is this very much stuttering and just being like, she she tried to kill you. but What? the Braille jumps up. Who? Nix's head steps around. The wolf? I know.
Speaker: No, she was here.
Speaker: o She came here and she grabbed you and then she was going to she was going to kill you. the ah The bug. We don't know her as...
Speaker: Arbitrary description right now, but yes. That's... She... Arbitrary description you insisted upon. Hang on. What? You were...
Speaker: phasing you were aging and de-aging and I was going to say can you can you choose a time period so I can ask the question but then she appeared and she grabbed you and she was going to slit your throat but it wasn't she disappeared but she was very much antagonizing through you <unk> and gehu Eric, did I feel grabbed? Can I roll to see if I felt something during that time or is it just didn't happen? Give me a wisdom check.
Speaker: So no, I didn't. Let's see what happens. Yeah, that's an 11. Yeah, you don't you don't have a strong recollection. was phasing. It was taking up a lot of my tactility.
Speaker: The bug lady was using me to taunt you. I would assume so. She was looking at me.
Speaker: Sure, okay. She just happened to be available, I'm assuming. Well, I mean, perhaps she knows that you would be upset if I died. i think that that's what maybe it goes just a bit beyond availability.
Speaker: Kaz is genuinely upset. We just had this talk. Available in the sense that you weren't solidified in one plane. Oh. were in a space that you could. Yes. Of course. Of course.
Speaker: Right. Just embarrassed.
Speaker: So. it There is an error, Azoria, in general, and points to if there is remaining shadow label thing.
Speaker: Or to where it was. The... the... wolf's shadow... those weren't supposed to be here... either. And then she... appeared.
Speaker: then the weird limb-snapping thing somewhat in the second way. Nick looks over at Vela. Does the shadow thing happen? Is that... strange?
Speaker: Mela or Vrael, sorry. Vrael. Yeah, sorry. I was just confirming. Vrael, like, shakes her head. No, that's that's not something I've ever seen. oh good.
Speaker: um
Speaker: I get Kaz... Kaz is a little bit sorry. Do you think I was actually in danger? Because I don't control when I, you know, phase. Is that a thing? Can I...
Speaker: It only happens in combat. You know, it it's i can keep it I can keep it together, but we're not fighting. But once we get started fighting, I got to lose control of some of that stuff. So now do I have to worry about both the wolf in front of me and what could be waiting for me in another... I mean, technically, you would always be worried about what could get you from another plane if you were shifting. But that's I'm saying. I don't...
Speaker: I don't feel like I'm shifting in that way when I'm doing it. But I guess I am. If I'm not fully there, could I still fully die? I didn't feel her grab me. You said she grabbed me.
Speaker: there i didn't feel that. I don't know. I just don't want to die twice in one battle. It might technically only be one time. What? I think I might have actually died twice in one battle. Herli's gotten down to zero. I would assume if she is assuming she is in Zoriad, the fact that she's able to travel that far, yes, I would assume you would be in danger, which is... Yeah, what I'm trying to avoid, yeah. Yeah.
Speaker: told I don't want have any awards... on me because usually it's only affecting me so i left all that back at the manor but um i will keep an eye out and i i will i'll keep an eye out okay that's taking out his little notebook in the start of days Write is a mission. Journaling is very helpful with stress. It's just a constant reminder now in written form that I can go back on and read over and over again.
Speaker: You're journaling wrong. What do you mean rumination's not healthy? We need to work on your coping skills.
Speaker: Theme of the party. If only there was an in-house mental health professional. um Anyway. We haven't been at the house in a minute.
Speaker: vi that' That is true. And Valk spoke too. Valk was more open than I think any of us with her, in fact. Behind on my my visits, so we got to. Did a speed one that. Okay.
Speaker: So you all rail takes up the point on the, the trail again. And Balanor is by her side as they begin walking. You all walk for a bit longer, any, any communication or conversation that you all would like to engage in.
Speaker: Again, I think Nix is just at this point, just hyper vigilant. She doesn't know what the bird thing is. Vrael didn't offer any additional insight other than yeah that didn't used to happen. And now it's not just Lomania.
Speaker: There's something else here. So we've never had to do like a confluence of planes.
Speaker: So Nyx has not released her sword. Like it's not gone back into the ether. She has the sword out. It is...
Speaker: ready as, as we walk forward. Hey, everyone can give me a wisdom based checks to perceive as you all are walking along. Perseverate.
Speaker: Here you go. Some people probably can. Yes, I can. Cause that's a natural 20. mine's natural So that up to 30. Dang.
Speaker: sixteen total paranoia bu set up to thirty dan Okay, 24, 30, and then mix also rolled.
Speaker: In any other D20 system, 16 doesn't perfectly respect much. The inflation of this game is ridiculous. Pathfinder first and second edition would like to sir. Well, tell them. That's true.
Speaker: That's As you all are walking along, Kaz, you can just spot something weird first. You see from the brush a rabbit like perk up in kind of a, like I hear potential threats.
Speaker: And then it spots you all walking towards it, and it immediately sprints at you. ah We need scale. Regular rabbit. Okay. Yeah.
Speaker: Maybe slightly bigger. Not, yeah, but a dire rabbit. Just saying, there was a there was a squirrel the size of the size of ah of a small house two story a little while ago. Two-story house, right, yes.
Speaker: And a fox the size of a shopping mall, lest we forget. But Kaz, the rabbit like sprints between your legs and then continues running off away from you all. Okay. I look in the direction from whence it was running with my with my keenest eyes and my eaglest ears.
Speaker: With your perception check, you know it was not running away from anything in that direction. It spotted you, a potential predator, and then sprinted at you. Okay. Okay. And then continued past. that Oh, good. Did you see that thing daring me?
Speaker: It was daring me to hit it. it It knew I was bigger and it ran right at me. Cred with its buddies or something. And yet you didn't. Yeah, I didn't want to. like It's a buddy. Valk, as Kaz is pointing this out and you're taking a brief look around, you see some of the trees near you.
Speaker: You notice something about the bark that looks odd. And... As you take a closer examination with a 30, you can see that the bark on this little cropping of trees has a perfect geometric pattern to its growth. It's like a perfect fractal pattern that spirals up and around the tree all the way up without a single imperfection.
Speaker: And there are three trees in a little triangle that have this going on. may Tree's doing weird things. Mela walks over and, well this is not possible.
Speaker: I don't... Past things not being possible right now. Barna is next to Mela. Barna is looking at tree. tree and val you can see his third eye also staring at the tree but you know when a dog snarls its eyes kind of like they get ah sharper and kind of shake slightly his third eye is doing that even though the rest of his face is not of his third eye is freaking out about it so a fake tree or a false tree what's going on with the
Speaker: No, it's, it's real. She pulls out a small knife that is clearly for, you can tell sample collection. It is not a combat knife.
Speaker: And she like reaches up and gets a bit of the tree bark and snaps it off and examines it. And she looks at it, Valk, if if you also glance down, but when you all look back up at the tree, the bark is perfectly repaired. Is it repaired in a weird geometric pattern?
Speaker: it It replaced itself perfectly in the geometric pattern. but I'm not the tree guy, so i don't... I don't know what to do with this with this information. Like, this is really weird, but I don't i don't know what to do with this information.
Speaker: Valk, who's much smarter than Nia, would know. By proxy, the theory. I mean, here's the thing. Like, Valk understands. And then, like, all of you have been with the Lighthouse long enough to understand basic tenets of the planes to a certain extent.
Speaker: ah If the barks on the trees were made of, like, snow, that would be, like, Kithri influence, because that's, like, chaos. Like, snow is a real tangible thing.
Speaker: Bark is a real tangible thing. It getting swapped is, like, that's strange.
Speaker: Go ahead. Donvi. Like the bark is getting organized? It's not like perfectly ordered. It's not perfectly up and down because it's like fractal and geometric, which could be Donvi influence, ah but it could also be Zoriat because of just the the the madness of a tree in perfect geometrical patterns.
Speaker: need to understand how bad things are right now, Eric. said that. I need to understand how bad things are. I feel some relief at that news because it means it's not like all the planes. It's not all the planes. It's not everything. It's just the worst plane.
Speaker: how who Is it just the pattern or it like different kind of tree? would rather walk into Mabar which will slowly dissolve my living body. We almost got there. I wouldn't say that.
Speaker: um no What are you saying, Mia? Is it like, is it a tree from Zoriath? So would that, like, the actual tree itself be familiar to me from my time being? no With your role, it is Zoriath influence on a Lamonian tree.
Speaker: genistrate Much like the wolves. The wolves were out of Zoriath. They only had two out here. campus Just checking if they're merging or if if one is just leaking into the other room.
Speaker: our manifest zones on other planes aren't a thing, right? Not that you're aware of. It's like Eberron is the the hub and everything just kind of feeds into it.
Speaker: So yeah, planes influencing each other is not something that you've read about.
Speaker: We need to do this and get out of here. Yeah, you okay. Don't have to tell me twice, man.
Speaker: Excellent. Nyx begins walking in the direction we were headed down. Can I quietly ask Maylove for a piece of tree bark? Mila hands the tree bark that she broke off to you about. so It's a habit. Mila hey man, not my tree. as As you all walk along, from the path ahead, Nyx and Vrael are at point.
Speaker: Vrael is very eager to be at the the head of the party, um but it's fine with Nyx walking alongside. It's not like Vrael's trying to scurry ahead. You all... You begin to hear a low, beautiful humming coming from up ahead. Just to clarify, because everything's terrible here.
Speaker: Just sort of an ambient sound, or does it sound like a voice humming? Directionally ahead of you. It it doesn't sound necessarily like a voice, but like a call of some kind.
Speaker: Sure. As you all continue to um move ahead, ah e you see standing in the middle of the path before you, A, on the scale of a normal one, massive stag.
Speaker: A very, very, very large stag with white antlers. It is looking in profile from you all, but the humming is coming in the direction from this stag. Then it turns and looks in your direction, and the humming stops.
Speaker: I need a perception check from everyone. Big money! e Yay! Nope, Nyx is too freaked out. Luck is a... The dice is 13, that's a 23. And I apologize. Is this... Plays off of what?
Speaker: Wisdom. Wisdom. That's what thought. could have been wisdom or intelligence. But okay, fine. Wisdom. oh No, 14. Yeah. Valk, you turn around just in time to see a massive bear, like leap out of the brush at Valk.
Speaker: And... and me End of episode. What? Thank you all so much for listening. If you want to be part of the conversation starting in this episode, you head over to our discord, the link to which is in the show notes for this episode.
