Speaker: Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to episode 80 of the Cooler Guild. I'm Coop Cooper, and joined with me, as always, when I'm here at least, is my co-host, Van Crisp. Yay, Coop's back! We're recording on Tuesday, September 29th, 2026. Today we're going to go over the Reigns' win. That's right, I'm back, and we got another dub pod against Boss? Boss? Lost Nation. Let's...

Speaker: was Sorry, Courtney. You lose 2-0 and ah you got it. You got to hand them with that. um Anyways, before we get into all that, we got some housekeeping take care of. The Cooler Guild is part of the Sounder Heart Podcast Network. You can either listen to us on our public feed or if you're a Sounder Heart subscriber, which you should be right now. And they're running a discount.

Speaker: Cool. Excellent. ah On the private unified feed with the other podcasts on the network. If you'd like to become a subscriber, just visit our page at soundertheart.com forward slash the cooler guild. New subscribers get 10% off the normal rate and you'll help support everything we're doing. ah Yeah, apologies that I was gone. i thought I would have some access to the internet, but turns out that was not the case. um Although I did get some of the editing, minor editing that I could help out with done next to a charger on the side of the road in rural Oregon.

Speaker: It was an incredible photo that you sent me. It was very, very helpful. ah Crash course for me on how to navigate things. But um I'm always very thankful for Coop that she takes care of the back end things. But you had a big, long road trip, right? Yeah, I did. We went camping for a little over a week. ah Hit up the Painted Hills, Wallowas. I did have one one highlight, if you want to call it a highlight, too. I haven't shared with you yet. Ooh.

Speaker: um We went to the Wallowas and we stayed at like a, you know, like state park campground. So they had like showers and like, you know, everything nice. It might have maybe been like a fucking resort. I don't know. it was nice. We went swimming in the lake, which is great. And so I left my sandals out to dry overnight. And...

Speaker: And I am like somebody who's always worried about someone stealing my shoes because that was something that my stepmom was always worried about when we were in Germany. yeah is There's like some people that steal shoes and she's like, don't leave your shoes outside. So I never leave my shoes outside. Left my sandals out overnight this one night because they were wet I wake up, get out of the van and my sandals are dragged across the campground.

Speaker: They're just... like losing in the campground and something chewed and i assume it was a raccoon chewed through the like strap on my sandals so i couldn't use my sandals bed rocks yeah which they they do repairs which is awesome so i'm gonna mail them in and get get it repaired but yeah something chewed through the fucking strap of the sandal and then alex's croc is also like strung across the campground And then I left a dog bowl out, you know, like where they keep their water or their food or whatever. So I just left an empty dog bowl out on the ground, which we usually do everywhere we go camping. And the fucking raccoon like pissed in it.

Speaker: And I'm like, I'm like looking at the dog bowl. I'm like grabbing the sandals. I'm like, what the fuck? And then I like look at the dog bowl and I was like, what the fuck is this? And I like see these dribbles of like yellow liquid and like pull up to my face and I smell it. And I was like, that's fucking piss. He's like, you gotta be kidding me.

Speaker: Anyways, we didn't leave anything out after that night. You should get like a camera to like post on the outside of the van. We we were planning to just for security reasons because people do kind of creep in and look sometimes. um Someone definitely did that one night and we didn't know who the fuck it was. But ah yeah, I wish I could have seen this fucking raccoon just like I kept doing like an impression of the raccoon. I'm going to take sandal and go away. Oh, I need it go pee.

Speaker: one just the feral raccoon voice that i have anyways um how was your weekend it was good i went to the game and then i went to my friend's wedding party which was really fun thank god my wonderful girlfriend has a car because otherwise i would have been stranded um but yeah game was fun and it was really great to get another win yeah yeah well the good news is i didn't watch the game so i don't know what happened in the other two i feel like they didn't happen actually Hope you had fun with the Grant, though.

Speaker: I did. i also i watched I ended up rewatching the games, but I was in Rockaway Beach for last weekend. So I went crabbing. Nice.

Speaker: Love crabbing now. Anyway, this game, ah it was a Friday night at 530 p.m., which is like a terrible time to have a game. I think I was like kind of pissed at the attendance.

Speaker: Then I saw the time and stuff that it was on. and And I was like, are you kidding me? How is this happening? That and like the game promo for the night was like a weird thing that I did not understand. I have some I have to make a confession. Did you read this book? Oh, I've read them.

Speaker: So it was fourth wing night. And I said, whatever the F that is. Dragon smut. Okay. Dragon smut. It's like straight dragon smut, though. Yeah. It's not. That part sucks.

Speaker: But people are really into I don't think so. i always like i would skip I would honestly skip over the head like the hetero smut. Because it was just like, this is too much. Why is this happening to me? Okay. It was just like really weird. Anyways, don't need to about dragon smut but i i'm not surprised that this was happening it's got a very big following when it seems to be happening like kind of across the league like different teams are doing it yeah which is a new marketing strategy where they're doing several i do think we have the dragon though like theme with our club so i feel like maybe i don't know i think it makes more sense for rain

Speaker: It does. And I did think that the they had a special scarf for the evening. wow. And that looked really cool, actually. Cool. But the Reign get a 2-0 win over Boston. Hell yeah.

Speaker: Hell yeah. And all thanks to, speaking of dragons. The tiny one. The tiny one. Jess Vishlock returned to the starting lineup. She hasn't been starting, right? but She didn't start any of those other two games? No, she's kind of saving it.

Speaker: Yeah. tonight She pulled up in that game and came off. Yeah. But she's back. Like she never was gone. I was like, do you think she's going to come back for another year?

Speaker: because she had so much time off this year that she doesn't feel like she's gotten all of her out of her system. I'm not going to speculate that. And it seems that like from the pressers and everything, it seems to be a, a kind of culminating moment for her. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah. I'm fortunate when you're still that good. i know. Yeah. like ah What kind of ah notable stats have from this game? There were a lot. um With this game, Seattle became the first team in NWSL history to win five consecutive regular season home matches without conceding a goal.

Speaker: And I know that we kind of team up against the defense at times because it seems a little sketchy, but it's looked good at home. They haven't conceded Lumen since the 72nd minute against Angel City FC on August 9th. 468 minutes. Pretty good. Yeah. Home unbeaten streak is now at seven matches.

Speaker: And Etsy witch. I know the Etsy witch. So they've extended their club record scoring streak to 17 consecutive matches. That's ridiculous. Insane.

Speaker: And I don't know if you missed this from the last episode or I might have texted you this. I can't remember. But I thought in the Denver game that they weren't going get a goal. I was sure it was over. u hu Absolutely sure it was over. And I thought, of course, I'm going to be on vacation when the rain and their Etsy witch scoring streak.

Speaker: So Fiorita comes in to score. Which is great. Etsy Witch comes through. Etsy Witch came through. And then I looked at the i i looked at the ah message from the Etsy Witch, which I didn't know existed. Did you not read this in the last pod?

Speaker: I did. I'm just telling you. Oh, it was Ratcliffe in that match. Sorry. But in the match before... the etsy which's name is sophia with an f so we're now at 17 17 consecutive games to the goal uh it was maddie doline's 50th and a bucella regular season appearance that passed by fast she sure did claudia dickey recorded two saves seventh shutout of the season tying her single season career high uh she now has 20 regular season shutouts and she surpassed hope solo for the most regular season goalkeeper wins in club history Cool. Jess Fishlock, I mean, what else can you say? She broke, she tied and then broke Megan Rapinoe's record for total goals for the Reign.

Speaker: But the funny stat was she is now the oldest player to score a brace in an NWSL match. And stole a record from Portland. She passed Christine Sinclair, who was 38. Right.

Speaker: great Crazy. Yeah. And the last thing, ah Boston were at 13 consecutive games to the goal. And I went on to the Boston podcast and I said, I think the rain are going to end that.

Speaker: Yeah, they did. Do you think it's a bad luck that Boston like ended it on like ah the number 13? Yeah. Could be. But if I just want to like give them some... mention it, the Boston podcast is called The Swan Dive. It's a great show. you're interested in Boston soccer, go listen to it. Yeah. They're going to be working through some um curses soon though. Yeah. So let's get into the match, I guess. Yeah? Yeah. What worked for you? i mean, I think this worked for everybody.

Speaker: Jess Fishlock. Yeah. Being 39 years old and insane. i don't i don't get it. The first goal was like... I don't know. was kind of... Darlene kind of was like the reason that the first goal happened.

Speaker: She got bumped into and then they were able to kind of get that breakaway. But the placement... Casey, what do you think of what do you think of the goal? like what do you How do you think Murphy did on that shot? The first goal? Not well.

Speaker: She's the reason that that goal scored. Yeah. There's a thing with tall goalkeepers, and I see it especially with tall goalkeepers in the women's game, is they don't prioritize footwork.

Speaker: And that shot took a lot of time, right? It wasn't a huge rocket of a shot. No. It was a tough shot, but she takes an extra step. She's there. Yeah.

Speaker: But she relies on her height too much and the ball goes in. Yeah. You take an extra step, you cover that far post, you get there. um So I think good for Jess Fishlock for taking the shot on both of them.

Speaker: The second one was just like, I don't know why more players, and I say this every time Jess Fishlock scores in a match, yeah why more players can't take that and see the opportunity yeah and go to goal. Yeah.

Speaker: But she has so much quality, like every shot. and She makes it look easy. She sure does. Yeah. um They started the game out and kind of were on the back foot for the first couple of minutes.

Speaker: And i think that they forgot how physical Boston is. I think they, Boston commits the most fouls per game than any other NWSL team. It's kind of what they have to do. They disrupt. Don't they have like the most red cards too because of, probably because of Bianca, but they've got a lot of red cards too. PSG, yeah. Yeah. ah So, but they figured out a way to match that. They kind of really grew into the game for once and that was good. Um...

Speaker: I want to talk about Claudia Dickey a bit. She had ah only had to come up with two saves this match, but her distribution was so good. after ah There was a time ah moment in like the second minute where I think it was Huerta passed the ball back and it got overtaken and there was an opportunity on goal for Boston just from sloppiness playing out of the back.

Speaker: And I thought to myself, it's Boston. Why aren't we playing the ball further up? Just skip the skip the back line. Go further up. And then they started doing that. And Claudia Dickey's long ball game is so good.

Speaker: I'm surprised with the amount of goalkeeper assists this season that she doesn't have one. Then again, we don't have kind of an all out night right now. So maybe I'm not so surprised. ah Someone can help her though.

Speaker: Sure. We'd be dismissed not to mention the Etsy witch. Yeah. Shout out Etsy Wits. Shout out Sophia. Sophia. now we got her name figured out. Utah. Nice. Yep.

Speaker: And then there's there's a couple of things. Jordan Bug was so good this game. She's been really, really good the last couple games, give or take a couple other defensive miss apps. Sure. But overall, she's really growing into her size and just her positioning. And the same with Phoebe. Yeah.

Speaker: Right. There's a reason that they're becoming so successful back there. They've got a really good pairing in the two of them. They do. So it's it's really fun to watch it. Jordan Bug gets high up a little bit. She's dribbling through players and it's really cool to see. So of like we say, can't wait to see where she goes.

Speaker: Sam Meza was finally getting into the attack again. And it was noted that that's most likely because Ainsley McCammon was finally back. Yeah. Yeah, it's too bad that Ainsley, the reason Ainsley's back is because they lost. But ah as a Reign fan, we all know how valuable she is.

Speaker: ah So I'm good with it. It really just plugs a hole back there in that sixth position. And it allowed for Sam Meza to get more on the attack. And she hasn't really been able to be productive up there, but it's always dangerous. So I want to see more of that.

Speaker: The last thing I had for what worked, I mean, watching the highlights, rewatching parts of the game. I love to see these Jess Fishlock goals and rewatch them. And when you have the sound on, to be able to listen to the calls and have them be high quality. Yeah.

Speaker: was It shouldn't be surprising, but it was so nice that J.P. Delacamera is so good at his job and I'm very much going to miss him on calls. I will add, I mean, this i if let's transition into what didn't work. Just related to that, Jill Lloyd can still, she needs to go practice names still. For God's sake. It's kind of crazy that she's still messing up names while JP is saying them correctly. It's like are you not like, are you not hearing? Are you not listening? I'm not sure what's getting missed, but like, I don't even feel like she's that bad of a commentator, but your job is to get these names right.

Speaker: And it's been years now of this happening with the same players that we watch, at least. So I i need her to figure it out. i need her to figure out the same, same as a, and also Maddie Darlene. There's definitely other names that I'm not saying I have a perfect, but I rely on the, the broadcasters to kind of help me with that.

Speaker: As you should be able to. Yeah. I mean, they can they get a guide. Yeah. Every match. Yeah. So it just seems unprofessional when it's not like that. Agreed. I expect it from i i would expect this from like the MW cell of like a decade ago, but to me it's just not okay now at all. No.

Speaker: What else didn't work for you? I did see you put down Darlene and her one on one, her one V ones. What like what's going on there? i don't know.

Speaker: she was instrumental in other parts of this game. Absolutely. That were really, really good. Yeah. but the parts at which you should be able to rely on a player like her and I feel like I'm a broken record talking about this but one v one on goal she got a shot off it got saved by Casey Murphy fine but there's gotta be it she's got be more dynamic about it always going left foot always going left foot always going left foot or pulling it into the right foot and it's like a crappy ball gotta figure out how to be more dynamic

Speaker: I did like her comments in the postgame presser ah in terms of like watching just Fishlock and kind of being inspired. And I'm hoping maybe seeing her on the field, like being part of that will kind of unlock it a little bit more because... She gets so many looks that if she can really unlock that, it's going to be really, really valuable for us. When? I know, that's the thing. is I'm getting frustrated. Yeah, we've but we've been saying this for a weeks, maybe months. um Because she should have she should be racking up the goals.

Speaker: Easily. Yeah. But there's something missing. There's some sort of vision there that's missing. And the ability to open up the defense and figure out how to good get a good shot and slot it. Yeah, I don't know what it is. I feel like I want to... Lynn's back in practice with her in training, so i'm know I'm kind of optimistic. Maybe that is what's needed to help unlock it. Yeah, I hope something does it. Yeah. But right now, it's just really frustrating to watch. definitely. And she's getting better on the other parts of her game. Definitely. That's great. But she gets so many good looks and doesn't capitalize on them, and it's it's becoming a pattern. She reminds me of that. I think it was D2 Mighty Ducks where there's that one speed skater guy who can't stop.

Speaker: ah Yeah, a little bit. I see what you're saying. And it's like, just figure out that one last thing. Yeah. Figure it out. Yeah. I mean, I can only harp on so much else of what didn't work, but the referee this match, Elton Garcia, let Dickie get knocked like three times post catch or after the play.

Speaker: And the girl's wearing a headband because she's got stitches. Yeah. It was just a lie. Boston's, I wouldn't call them dirty, but it's a little excessive at times. And I think referees need to get under control a bit.

Speaker: Sure. And then there's the last thing I got is that outside back rotation with Ryan Brown and Madison Curry. Ryan Brown hasn't shown to be better than Madison Curry in my eyes.

Speaker: consistently maybe not i would say yeah and every time curry comes on it seems to be a little bit more locked down I hear you, but I feel like we've kind of gone back and forth on this. For sure. Like sometimes Curry's the one who's playing really well and sometimes it's Brown and it doesn't seem like there's a clear, to me at least, still clear starter. So it's interesting that you know you you have the pressure of someone who could take your starting role and that they they are rotating and neither of them's kind of, I feel like at least, stepping up in like a way that's like you're the one who's going starting every game.

Speaker: Yeah, there's no clear winner here right now. No. But, and I think it's really good that you have that ability to switch players out. Definitely. But in the last couple of matches, it seemed to me, I guess this match, it seemed to me that Curry really kind of tied things down when she came in. Sure.

Speaker: but But the other two games were not very great. Exactly. both of them kind of played. So it's just, yeah, it's hard. it I think it's a, it's a situation that needs to get worked out if, if, and when the rain go through the playoffs.

Speaker: Cause it does seem like a weak point. Yeah. What'd you get out the post-match pressers? So it was ah Maddie Darlene and Jess Fishlock in the player presser. And Ryan started out by giving us some of the stats and the records broken.

Speaker: And Jess Fishlock said, I can't wait to text Pino. Yeah.

Speaker: They talked a lot about, Maddie Dahlian mentioned how it's going to be so emotional when Fishlock leaves, so grateful for her help and leadership, and talked about how last week they just had to regroup.

Speaker: It's one of the things. um And there was, it was just a lot, it it was very long presser, but it was mostly Maddie Dahlian talking about how great Jess Fishlock was, and then Jess Fishlock talking about how a lot of things in Maddie Dahlian's game remind her of Magnor Pino. Okay, yeah.

Speaker: So that was cool. ah she ah She said similar feeling of excitement playing with Pino as she does with Darlene. Her Darlene's raw talent is so exciting. um And then she said sky's the limit for Maddie Darlene. The thing she loves the most about it is her mentality. And after this whole thing, Maddie Darlene looked like she was about to cry. no it was really cute. um They talked about matching the aggressiveness of Boston, but added their quality to change the tempo after the first five minutes. And so that's something that we all kind of noticed. Yeah.

Speaker: And then Laura came on ah talked about Jess played in L.A. and those minutes helped her because she really wanted her to be able to start. And they were undecided on the starter this week, but Jess played her way into the starting lineup, but just by how she trained.

Speaker: So seemed there was a want from her and you could tell when she played. Um, she talked a little bit about the bench players and how players like Coco, Ratcliffe, Curry, all those guys, um, they're not necessarily happy with their role, but they're embracing it, which I think is an important, an important piece when you're part of a team that needs that, that the depth really maybe isn't that insane as it is on other teams.

Speaker: Um, because they're, they're all in it to win it. And what was about it. um how are you How are you feeling after? i mean, we've got four games left in the schedule. We've kind of got a mixed bag of results recently.

Speaker: um how how did How are you feeling after like this game happened, given what happened right before that the long week? I'm skeptical. Yeah. But I'm also not mad about it I think the two road games were kind of a setup for failure.

Speaker: i hoped that they would do better and get some points out of it. But I really wasn't expecting a lot. Yeah. Because we're just hanging on to playoffs right now.

Speaker: I think moving forward, everything's a must win. Everything's been a must win for a while. Yeah, I think so, too. But the last four games the season, it's a must win. Yeah. And they face a big challenge with North Carolina coming into town on Friday.

Speaker: hey yeah when I saw the scores, because I was you know didn't get to watch the other two games ah while I was gone, and I just felt pretty defeated, to be honest.

Speaker: You know, I saw this. i mean, even one point would have really been nice. I knew it was going to be difficult, but man, they kind of put themselves in a situation that's not great. But I'm also remembering kind of what the beginning of the season looked like and the fact that they're in this position is really cool. um Yeah. But, you know, 2-0 result. Yes, it's great. You're getting three points.

Speaker: I do know who they played. Yeah. And it was at home. I love that. Got to win at home. But yeah, I think this next game is going to be a test for sure. Yeah, it's definitely going to be like a defining moment for them. For sure. Okay. Well, it's just kind of like pressure's on right now. For sure. And they got to figure out a way to score that's not relying on one player a match.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. But that seems to happen. i mean, like, you know, you always try to give Fischl credit sometimes for opening up space. And so I was trying to be mindful. my God. This also happened this game though. i know. She fucking missed another shot. No, but she opened up the space for Fischlok to take that second shot. But she also missed her fucking shot. So imagine how much more could have.

Speaker: I would feel so much better if she would have scored one of those shots and was opening up the space for Fischlok. Yeah. need both when you're making that much money. do. Yeah. Yeah. um All right. Should we get into the cooler point of the match? Sure. All right. The cooler point of the match is brought to you by the doctor's office, a great little 12 seat bar on Capitol Hill. The owner is a big fan of the rain and is proud to be our very first sponsor. Who we giving it to this week? Ainsley McCammon.

Speaker: Hell yeah. Thank you for coming back. yeah Even though if you didn't want to. Even though you didn't want to, it was terrible circumstances. Sure. The kid is all right. i mean, locks it down.

Speaker: Her passing ability is just insane. And I think she's kind of an unsung hero. Yeah. When it comes to games like this, just because might not be flashy, but you're not having players dribbling up and through and into your 18. Yeah. Because they're being stopped.

Speaker: She's great. Big fan. Cool. Well, congrats Ainsley. And thanks again to our sponsor, The Doctor's Office. The Doctor's Office is the best place to grab a drink before or after a rain match.

Speaker: Make an appointment today and order their El Nacional, Mezcal Campari, Amaro Abano, Dry Vermouth, Chocolate Bitters, and a Spritz of Aardberg. Imagine smoking a cigar dipped in Campari while getting slapped in the face and asking for more. Dig it. Dig this. Nice. That's a great, that's a great description. want one now. ah Check out their Instagram at TDO Seattle or better yet, go drink there in person.

Speaker: Cheers. Cheers. I did, ah you know, have my celebratory drink for this because not drinking alcohol at least for the next week before my stupid ass half marathon. um I poured a Gatorade Zero packet into my water. Nice. Real party animal over here. I've just got my adult sippy cup. Yeah. You and your babas. um ah other rain notes that we got the u.s women's national team has called up claudia dickie jordan bug maybe we'll get one we'll see possibly she wasn't initially called in but seems that naomi gurma picked up a knock i feel like she's always injured these days but i also don't know if bug is first in line yeah yeah uh at least dickie's you know so slowly solidifying her spot at least in the you know selection of she really helped herself with the denver game that's good even though wasn't a great game could have been a whole hell of lot worse okay well that's good uh do you have any other finish fascinating notes no other than the results from the weekend louisville lost to san diego two to zero Shocking. Not shocking.

Speaker: Yeah. Gotham beat Chicago three to one That's it? Yeah. And Chicago scored late in the match. It was Jaden Shaw's first career brace and now she's the youngest player to score 25 goals in the NWC. Hmm.

Speaker: And then this was kind of a surprise to me. Casey beat Denver four to one. Denver actually scored first. It was kind of a classic Lindsay Heaps goal. But then Haley Hopkins scored a hat trick and then Chawinga absolutely solidified it in the 76th minute.

Speaker: Abby Smith did save a penalty. But then Casey scored shortly after. It's not right after the play, but. OK, was this in Casey? Yeah. OK, that kind of explains it a little bit. Yeah, their regular heat season home unbeaten streak is now at 30 consecutive matches.

Speaker: Damn. Yeah. Okay. see That's a fortress, if you ask me. um Then Angel City beat Washington Spirit. Love to see that, except for the standings for the playoffs. But I love Washington Spirit losing. Yeah.

Speaker: Single goal by noose in the 88th minute. Portland tied Houston at home. m Yeah. Houston scored in the 10th minute and then Portland didn't get back and went back until the 85th minute.

Speaker: Bay lost to Orlando. Orlando won The best goal of this match though was Bay's one goal. Rachel Kudanaji took a header from Far Post. Cross came in. Took a step and just diving headered it in. Love those. It was so good. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, they still lost. But It was a great goal. haven't really checked goal the week, but I hope it's up there. And then Utah beat North Carolina, who we play this Friday.

Speaker: And Utah won two to one. OK. Ashley Sanchez did score penalty in 37th minute, though. And she with that goal, she tied Chawingas' single season goal scoring record with 20, which Chawingas set in 2024.

Speaker: There's still four games left. I know. She's going to beat that. Hopefully not this Friday. Hopefully not this Friday. ah A good transition, I suppose. The Reiner playing the North Carolina Courage next. I kind of like... that they're coming off of a loss i guess um but that game will be at home lumen field nw subplus october 2nd friday night baby and his van had figured out in time it's the fish fishlock bobblehead night with a little there's a little dragon on it right it's a good bobblehead do you have to you do have to buy special tickets i so i think you have to pay for a ticket to get it but uh

Speaker: They're also doing a thing that like if you're one of the first couple thousand fans, you get a like little fish lock key chain thing. And then there's a couple golden ticket ones where you can win a meet and greet after the match with Jess Fishlock. So I, okay. I was, anytime you talk about a golden ticket, I just think of the grandpa in the bed.

Speaker: It's magically cured piece of shit. Um, no, What do you want to see in this game against North Carolina? i have one note. It should be two. i mean, obviously, like, don't let the scoring streak end. Uh-huh. Etsy witch be damned. Come on.

Speaker: um Don't let Ashley Sanchez beat the single season scoring record against us at home. That's a pretty big ask. Lock her down. Did she get called up for the national team? She did. Okay, there you go. She did. Her and Trinity Byers. When is the when is the camp for that? I don't know. Eventually. Okay, cool. I didn't look. It's only Claudia. And I don't think they're goingnna miss any matches. So got it the standings, there's big implications with this match. Yeah. Really big implications with this match. um We're sitting in eighth place on 40 points in North Carolina's rape, rape behind us. um They're on 39 points in ninth place.

Speaker: i I got it. I think this is a must win. All four games are must win coming going forward. But like you lose to the team that's really like this and that's not good. And you're playing at home. Yeah. lock it down. Get your defense straightened up.

Speaker: Find a fucking goal like you've been doing. Get some classic Harvey ball action in here, I i say. Yeah. I know people don't want to hear that or see it and they fucking hate it, but I got it. Like, this is a game I think that is warranted and needed. Yeah, it's win or go or stay home time, I guess. ah The Courage is coming off of... their though I'm looking at their recent form. Holy moly, not good. they coming They're coming there. They've lost four in the last five games.

Speaker: um They lost to Casey. They lost to San Diego. They lost to Gotham. And then they lost to the Royals. So those are all very tough teams. Are we in the mix of that? The last time they won in that five games but was ah the 6-0 win in Chicago. So i kind of have a hard read on on the courage, but everyone knows how good Ashley Sanchez is. Yeah.

Speaker: And if she gets going, Reign are going to have a really, really tough time. Defense is going to need to keep it together. ah Can they get another shutout, do you think? i I would hope so.

Speaker: I mean, you really you really only have to shut down two players with North Carolina. You have to shut down Ashley Sanchez and you have to shut down Evelyn EJ. Just those two players.

Speaker: Just two. Last time they got shut. i I mean, they haven't been shut out since July 18th. It's been a minute. Yeah. We ended Boston streak, though. Yeah. Maybe that's a new norm for for the rain. That'd be fun, wouldn't it? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Hold on. goals. Yeah.

Speaker: ten eleven twelve it's twelve games that they have currently of scoring goals But between Ashley Sanchez and Evelyn EJ, they've combined for 31 goals. Holy crap.

Speaker: Yep. How many goals do we have in the whole fucking season?

Speaker: ah Uh, 33. Okay. be cool if we had two players that could do almost that much together. um Anyways, they're going to have to dig deep in this. I'm just really hoping the home thing helps. I think so. I think i think they're going at least get 9,000 people.

Speaker: People really love Jess Fishlock. They do. They really do. I'd be curious to see what those ticket sales are at. In the context of like the Reign fandom, not including U.S. Women's National Team, Jess Fishlock is the GOAT.

Speaker: Day one player. it it just There's nobody else that represents the team like she does. Jewett, please go to the game. to the game. Please go to the game. There's only two home games left. This the second to last home game until the last game of the regular season against Orlando. At least we have the last one at home. Yeah.

Speaker: We'll see what happens. I am feeling very on edge and not sure how to feel is where I'm at because yeah this team hasn't really given me full confidence all the time.

Speaker: and But I do think they got some good pieces. i will say, ah you know, maybe I'm just like stupid, but... ah You're laughing because it's true. ah But like...

Speaker: I don't know. Some of the performances they've put together, I'm just like, this this is a team that can make a run in the playoffs. If they play a to their strength, like if they can play up to the level they're capable of playing at, I think the way that this team is built is capable of taking on anybody. Yeah, it's just about consistency. Yeah. And that's why it's such a gamble when you go to a game go into a game like this.

Speaker: Yeah. I do think if we had, I don't know, an elite player, world-class player on the field with them, that might be a different story. Maybe turn everything into full optimism and it's really too bad. Well, you know...

Speaker: How many times can we mention that in the season? All right. You got anything else you want to add? Now that we're just rambling, bumbling idiots. Mostly me. So you got any shout outs for the week then? No. I would like shout out Asia Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces for standing up for herself in Indiana. You don't deserve that. You're the MVP. Yep. I love Asia Wilson.

Speaker: You got any shout outs? No. Sick. wait oh wait no i do have one uh shout out to the rental car driver that i met before i dropped my van off or went to but pick up my van he was a seattle soccer fan in astoria was like wearing my sounders like sweatshirt ever and he's like when's last time you like went to sounders game and he was giving me all of his like history with the sounders and stuff and like all the games like big games he went to with like dempsey and stuff um which like you don't run into that a lot out here there's not a lot of sports fans my area and yeah and certainly there's not a lot of seattle sports fans for like soccer at least um but i told him about the promo with like the tickets for kids and stuff and he's got like a kid and so he's like oh i'm totally gonna take my kids up to that for the rain games if they'd only done that sooner he didn't know about it well not a lot of people do yeah so i feel like that's on the marketing team because i told him he's like oh what and i was like yeah i was like you should you should go to a game he's like i'm definitely gonna go that so yeah Yeah, you can Amtrak up there.
