Garrett: everybody and welcome back to another episode of end to the malediction. We are on episode 16. Uh, can't believe it's been this many already. i am Garrett also known as Admiral Tater joined by my cohost, Alan and Nick.

m3rcier: This is Alan Mercer on Discord.

Nick: Hey everybody, this is Nick, and we're Fetty315 in the Discord.

Garrett: And today's episode is not about lore. It's about the new Reinforces packs coming out on August 26th, um, just shortly after the airing of this.

Nick: Woo!

Garrett: So I'm super excited about this. It's going be, it's gonna be dope. Um, so that is the big news, obviously that new products coming other news. Uh, we're still sponsored by me, Admiral Tater with the official officially licensed malediction, uh, Admiral Tater products, flex rulers, uh,

Garrett: damage tokens, mastery echo trackers, and by the time this comes out, I should have ah the plans in place for the next wave of seeker-specific stuff and some other ah fun game aids. so But here we go, guys. We're starting off starting off strong here with Conclave.

Garrett: do you guys have anything else you want to say before we jump right in here?

m3rcier: No, let's go.

Garrett: Great. Okay.

Nick: I'm excited.

Garrett: We're going to start it off with the spiders, the spider boys. ah These are units. Lee Astrum, accumulators. So these look really cool. ah ah They're not really spiders because they have six legs, so I guess we should call them insects. But um they are a construct and spellbound.

Garrett: And they have two abilities. Spell focus, one, for one action point. The next spell you play that's activation costs one fewer echo. And they have an ability called catalyst two.

Garrett: ah whenever you spell Whenever you play a spell during the activation of a unit within six inches, You may exhaust this unit. If you do, reduce the cost of that spell by two.

Garrett: um These things are awesome. They can move, so they're not like a totem, but they're kind of treated like a totem. They can also attack ah with an accuracy of one, three one damage graze, and have a ah pool of eight health.

Garrett: um And they're basic, so you can carry three of these in your deck. This is pretty cool, especially with somebody who can't generate a ton of Echo like Polynor, and this really helps conserve Echo. What do you guys think?

m3rcier: Yeah, they're going to be situational. They're not going to be in every Seeker's deck, but it definitely has some uses. With Laundrielle,

m3rcier: don't really know if she'll care to use them, but I'm going to give him a try because if you're on the... A two-cost spell can cost you zero if you're on Starcast Halls and you use Spell Focus.

m3rcier: And then if you are during someone else's activation and you don't need the activation of the accumulator, you know, use catalyst to reduce your spells even further. So I think there's there's a number of ways to synergize with them.

m3rcier: My problem with them is you're giving up an activation to use half of what they're worth. So going to be very situational.

Garrett: What do you think, Nick?

Nick: Yeah, so i' I'm a little torn on them. I kind of agree. i think Laundriel is still going to take Valkaris Priests over Accumulators to in order to fix Echo. um But for the rest of the blue players, it's definitely... Spellfocus is weird because you can technically do it twice.

Nick: um Do we know that it stacks?

m3rcier: believe it does because it's know one action point per so you're basically trading two action points to reduce your spell down lot

Nick: Right.

Nick: Right. And so I think like they're more likely to be used for the catalyst ability. Uh, but I do like that spell focus, um, and catalyst kind of don't necessarily lose efficiency depending on if you have to move, you know, if you have to move it, then you have to activate it. You have to move it.

Nick: And at that point, you're not getting the the two echo cost. Uh, but you know, it's a card in your hand. It's three echo to play it, which means it needs to really be making more than three echo back.

Nick: Um, And again, like I said, we see with Primal Totems and Valkyra's Priest, they get their Echo back pretty quickly in most games. I don't know the Accumulator. you know Maybe some Polynor builds will really be able to use them well.

Nick: um But I don't think it's going to be auto-include like you see Priest's.

m3rcier: Yeah, and it's it's a construct and it's spellbound, so Nareev could you utilize it. i don't know why he would, because at least in my viewpoint of him, you're you're going to be summoning spellbound that can fight for him not mana traps relaxing traps.

Nick: yeah i maybe Maybe a turn one. Maybe turn one, Nariyuv could pull it out and get it in position. But yeah, I agree.

Garrett: Yeah. Like I said, Polinor, I think, is gonna be the one that loves us the most. ah Just putting it next to him, right? And then just, he's able to just churn through spells a lot easier now.

Garrett: um

m3rcier: Do we want to want to read the flavor text on this one?

Garrett: Yeah, I can. As the Conclave. began funding large expeditions into the malediction many mages lost their lives as their liastrum supply ran short sphere chimer found the perfect solution to the problem so it's like it's just it's a mobile bank of uh liastrum it's a liastrum battery um which is pretty which is pretty cool uh and then it can walk i love it the models are really neat

m3rcier: Yeah, it doesn't doesn't do this in-game, but from the fiction standpoint, wouldn't want to be anywhere near this. It's a tower of pure lightstrom.

Garrett: yeah i love how it has like a cylinder head uh it's really funny looking um okay

m3rcier: When it blows up, good luck if you're near it.

Nick: Yeah, they really should have gave it death th throws or That have been pretty cool.

Garrett: yeah like it yeah kind of like uh the the the what's that the boars yeah all right the next the next one nick do you want to take the thaw mite mercenary

Nick: It blows up. The boars or something. Yeah.

m3rcier: Mm-hmm.

Nick: I would love to. So Thaumite Mercenary. ah So this is our elite unit for the Conclave. Four cost. A human unit. ah Stat line is...

Nick: Honestly, for an elite, pretty pretty low, but with a 4 cost, it's in line. 3 Accuracy, it has 3-2 damage, 0 range, 6 movement, 12 defense, 12 hit points. ah But we got some new abilities. So, Expertise 1. This unit gets plus 1 power for each attachment it has equipped.

Nick: um And then Arcane Precision. This unit gets plus X Accuracy, where X is the number of spells in your discard pile.

m3rcier: Yes, that fixes its its stat line as far as a three two It becomes a 4-3, which is pretty good.

Nick: Yes. Yep.

Garrett: Or slap a relic and an item on it.

m3rcier: And then...

Nick: Right. It gets us too.

m3rcier: Yeah, because then you get plus 2. And then also the Arcane Precision is going to sync really well with Laundrielle because she wants a lot of spells in her discard anyway. It would work with Polynor because he has spells in his discard.

m3rcier: So...

Nick: yeah i think i think this is a good one um because even just getting like plus two plus three like it it doesn't need to be like a plus seven bonus um getting a plus two plus three with like plus one power from a relic maybe plus two if you start equipping items we might you know i've been saying this in uh for a few weeks now uh ever since we saw that item change like i really think people are gonna start playing with items more because ah You know, I know there's still some stigma out there with like, well, it takes up a card, I'd rather have a unit or a spell rather than an item.

Nick: ah But taking away the mastery loss on items is a really big boon to bringing equipment.

m3rcier: Yeah, I mean, I just, my thing is, was like, equipment is the most, of the three types of cards, it's the most specialized. I really don't see you having a ton of equipment in anybody's deck.

m3rcier: Like, Auric right now is the item man, and what does he typically see in his deck? Six-ish?

Nick: five or six. Yeah, five or six, really.

m3rcier: So I think for everyone else, you know, two to three might become like a standard and you're using it for specific reasons. You want it for a specific unit or set of units. You're not just loading your deck up with it equipment.

Nick: Yeah. Yeah, but this, you know, again, even a relic gives you plus one damage, turns it into a four, three. And then if you have a couple of spells, it has plus 5 accuracy. you know It hits like a seeker, you know more or less.

m3rcier: Yeah, you put it in the Lyanna deck and it gets Spellstrike. Now it's a five or

Nick: five four yeah. Yeah.

m3rcier: With pretty reliable accuracy because of all the Lyanna spells sitting in your discard too. It's a pretty solid unit for 4 costs, I'll take

Nick: Yeah, i'm a little I'm a little disappointed that it's hit graze damage is only a difference of 1. because it really makes the accuracy bonus kind of minimal. If it was like a four it was like a four one or something, and it was like all a sudden i had this huge accuracy bonus, you'd feel really more like, no, I need to get these spells out so I can buff this thing to a plus 7, plus 8, so I'm not missing.

Nick: But since the it's only one difference, it's like, well, I could have done 5 damage, but I'm just going to do 4 on a

Garrett: Yeah, you're definitely just focus more on getting some sort of relic in this guy's hand.

m3rcier: Just hitting with it is all you need to do. Doesn't matter if it's hit or graze.

Garrett: And there's flavor text, Nick, what got?

Nick: Yes, so. Ophir reliance on spellcraft is a privilege that only those in the far-off isles of Quinvala can afford. For the people of the Solitons, isolated conclave settlements, being skilled with weapon is a matter of life or death.

Garrett: Nice.

Nick: And do we know where the Solitons are?

Garrett: I don't know. I was just thinking that. Like, do we know anything about this?

Nick: Now we got, and ah you know,

m3rcier: No.

Nick: but let's say up front, like, every unit card here is going to be bringing a new ability, and we've saw ah we get a couple little drop names in some flavor text, so...

m3rcier: we're have to look for solitons.

Garrett: My quick once over says no

m3rcier: All right, the nothing.

Garrett: We don't know.

Nick: Yeah, I don't see it.

m3rcier: The elite from the elite unit from the Conclave pack is Athan, Prime Decimator. This is who we lovingly call Mega Man. He is a human unit, 8 cost, unique.

m3rcier: He actually has a really good stat line, 4 accuracy, 5, 2 for damage, 12 for range, and then 5, 13, and 12 for the rest of the stats. Focused Blast, two action points. This unit performs a ranged attack with plus six range that deals five extra damage.

m3rcier: So that brings his range to 18, and his stat line is either 10 or seven, because that five extra damage still counts on a graze, because it's not the little so plus damage symbol.

Nick: Mm-hmm.

m3rcier: It's just five extra damage. So I'll take a 10-7. He does have recoil one. So whenever this unit resolves an attack, it'll win damage to it. and then Repelled 4. Whenever this unit resolves a ranged attack, push it four inches away from the defender.

m3rcier: and know The recoil is is what it is, but you could put like ah a Guardian or one of the Shield Mages near him and have them... think they can absorb it, i have to look at protection. But absorb it and then neutralize it. The Repelled can also be... you can play around Repelled. Put another unit behind it so it can't move.

m3rcier: Put it against a piece of terrain so it can't be moved.

Nick: Put it in corner, yeah.

m3rcier: Yeah.

Garrett: Yeah, I think that's easy to get around, but man, this thing would hit like a truck if somebody leaves something out in the open in front of it.

m3rcier: So.

Nick: Oh.

m3rcier: Yeah. Well, and if you slap a one of the range relics on it and give him even more range, mean, he's already at 18. Yeah. No.

Nick: Yeah. Oh, I mean, Veilpiercer for plus two range damage.

Garrett: Yeah.

Garrett: ah

Nick: It's just going to be... i think we're going to see a lot of this guy.

Garrett: Yeah, it won't be used as a bid card.

Nick: it's

m3rcier: no

Nick: You're going to see people are excited to put put this guy on the table.

m3rcier: I nuke you from across the battlefield, especially with the spell card that is associated with him. But no flavor text on him.

Garrett: Alright, moving on. we're're Okay, we're going on the spells next. So the first one, we'll go we'll go over the basic one. I really like this. It's called Salvage. It's two Echo cost, and it's discard. It's a channel spell.

Garrett: It's discard the two top two cards of your deck. You may return a basic or elite non-unit card from your discard pile to your hand.

Garrett: Um...

Nick: Yeah. Yeah.

Garrett: This is so like, you're gonna want to use this to where can't remember what the card is called. but Is this Laundra that looks you like look at your top two cards or whatever? Yeah, so like combo this with her.

Garrett: And then ah

m3rcier: But it it doesn't trigger her legacy because you're not looking at the top two cards. You're discarding them.

Garrett: Right, no, I know that but like, you want to see that like, make sure that you're not discarding something you want.

Nick: but you can combo with her ability to look at the top card and then decide if you want to salvage it.

Garrett: And then Yes.

m3rcier: Yep.

Nick: Yep.

Garrett: yes

m3rcier: Yep, and then you... I mean, it allows her to pull spells back out of her spell discard pile, which is both good and bad for her, but if it's an important one, you can pull it back.

m3rcier: Spells and items.

Nick: Uh,

m3rcier: It's non non-unit cards.

Nick: Yeah, yeah. ah It's going to be good. Polynor, I think, because you don't care so much about putting stuff in your discard pile. You can play from your discard pile, but getting a double use of a spell.

Nick: um

Garrett: Yeah, put it in, take it out, put it back in.

Nick: and then And then also Morida. Morida's going to love this too. ah Because you discard top two cards, even if they're units, you can just necromancy them back.

Nick: um

m3rcier: Oh, yeah.

Garrett: oh yeah, that's really good.

Nick: And then, yeah And then it'll allow you to pull your spells back, so like Morda can just like keep pulling from her discard pile like all game.

Garrett: Oh,

m3rcier: Yeah. So, uh, Polonor, he already gets four uses of TK. If he salvages it back out, that's another two uses of the damn spell. Jesus. I think Liana gets some, gets some play here too, because you're pulling certain spell cards back that you can then recast on car to reverb them.

Nick: Yeah.

m3rcier: Uh, And you know you're...

Nick: Yeah, trample through, or... yeah

m3rcier: Yeah,

Nick: And it's not it's ah it's limited to basic or elite, which is...

m3rcier: so you can't get Cataclysmic Blast.

m3rcier: And Londrell couldn't pull enforced balance back. That'd be hilarious.

Garrett: this No, I think this is awesome.

m3rcier: You

Garrett: I think you should put it in your blue decks.

Nick: Yeah, I think most most people will have a...

m3rcier: um want to read your...

Nick: it's Again, there are so many blue spells that you're already debating on including. It's just going to add to the pile.

m3rcier: Do you want to grab the flavor text there?

Garrett: ah Yeah. Okay. Although seekers risk flesh and soul in search of relics, the remnants of past expeditions are of no less importance when despair draws near.

Garrett: that's just kind of cool. Like here in the malediction, just picking up, picking up, uh, what's left on the ground, kind of from kind of like cigarette story. It's just dead bodies everywhere littered with loot.

m3rcier: Take their weapons and armor off of them before it rots.

Garrett: Yes. All right. Uh, right. Next, uh, Nick, what got?

Nick: Yeah, so our elite spell for Conclave is Crackling Trap. This is a four-cost channel spell. Choose a husk. Deal four damage to any number of units within three inches of that husk.

Nick: And then I want to go ahead and just read the flavor text before we move on to it. ah The foolish believe reaching the husk to be the end goal of any conflict in the Malediction. I know better. Polynor. Yeah.

m3rcier: I love this card.

Garrett: i I love it, but I don't think it'll be used a lot, but I love the idea of it.

Nick: Yeah.

m3rcier: I can promise you with Liana, this card and the new red the red elite spell card comboed together.

Garrett: Yeah.

Nick: Yeah, Lyanna.

Garrett: Mm hmm.

m3rcier: oh Amazing.

Nick: I can see with Lyanna. I can see with Polinor too. Anything that brings in power spell, you know, Polinor can play this and deal 5 damage to all units.

Garrett: Yeah.

m3rcier: And when it says any number of units, so you can exclude your own units.

Nick: um

m3rcier: You can pick just your opponents if you wanted to.

Nick: Yep.

Garrett: Oh, you know, i didn't I didn't think about that. I thought it had to be every unit. But yeah, you can choose, can't you?

Nick: Yep. Yeah, which is, again, why I think Liana... I mean, again, Laundrielle and Morda probably won't bring this, but they could, you know.

Garrett: Yeah. Yeah.

m3rcier: Woe Caster Shaman at half health, it deals seven or it deals six damage.

Nick: Oh, my six damage,

m3rcier: Oh man, it's such a good card. And then we' when we get to to the Primal and we talk about their Elite spell, we'll bring this one back up because they the Primal one is a Swift and this one's a Channel, so you can actually play this one and then use the Swift on immediately.

Nick: They combo really well.

Nick: I didn't even ah didn't even think about that.

m3rcier: But it's a good combo, good synergy.

Nick: You're right.

Garrett: Man.

Nick: for you That's annoying.

Garrett: Okay, I'm back.

Nick: Cool.

Garrett: I'm back to loving back to loving it.

Nick: Okay.

m3rcier: The Lyastrom Decimation is going to be the unique. Its spell cost is X. So just a note of warning with that, if you bid with this card, you are bidding zero because X is zero when it comes to bids.

m3rcier: But the the spell effect is deal X damage to an enemy. If X is greater, if X is six or greater deal X plus two damage instead.

m3rcier: What an X typically means is it's going to be how many spell cards are in your... I'm not sorry, it's see how much Echo you spend on it. So if I spend 10 Echo to cast this, I get to deal 10 damage to an enemy.

m3rcier: Since it's greater than 6, I would get plus 2, so I'd get 12. So really useful card. Definitely pairs well with Athen because if you have the extra damage, let's say you have 10 and he does 10, you can deal 20 damage from 18 inches away.

m3rcier: Not many things can stand up to that.

Garrett: wow

m3rcier: So it can definitely, this this this pair with Athen or this alone, because anyone can do it, ah definitely a card that could win you the game. And then the the flavor text is is just very simple.

m3rcier: Athen was never fond of subtlety.

m3rcier: mean, he cut his arm off and put a cannon on it, so we knew what he was trying to do.

Nick: Yeah.

Nick: Yeah, he knew. he he was Again, he was not fond of Settled. we Yeah, I like this card a lot. How does this work with Starcast Halls, right, in the discount?

Nick: Do you get the extra Echo, or if it reduces the cost, do you...

m3rcier: does Does not have any interaction because there is not an established cost. So if you spend a 10 and you reduce it to 9 with Starcast Halls, you still only deal 9 damage because you only spent 9 Echo.

Nick: right okay right makes sense then okay uh do we think morta is going to take this over unmake

m3rcier: So this doesn't benefit from Starcast Halls.

Garrett: That makes sense.

m3rcier: I mean, i could probably find another spell to get rid of in Wario to put this one in.

Garrett: Yeah, take both.

Nick: i guess take both i'll make it into estimation yeah

Garrett: Take both.

m3rcier: Yeah. Because you could, you know, on one activation, decimate them and then the other one unmake them to get them, you know, dead.

Nick: Absolutely drop a Thunder Steps, yeah.

Garrett: Man. Yeah. If you pull this car, you pull these like at the beginning of the game, just don't deploy anything. it

m3rcier: Yeah.

Garrett: Put out one skeleton or a stitch corpse and just like, all right, well that's game.

Nick: Just nuke them, yeah.

m3rcier: Oh, Jesus. Yeah, you pull you pull this and unmake and you put like a You're playing Paulynor so you have 25. You put down a single like, yeah, Stitch Corp, something cheap.

m3rcier: okay Well, you couldn't cast them both because they're both channels and you only have one activation.

Garrett: Oh, that's true. We got to put two units down. We got to put two.

m3rcier: Yeah, so you'd have to get what, the two, two cost units and then, oh, so with the Liana, you could can do two Tarot Beasts, Unmake, and this one and just nuke your opponent from the beginning.

Nick: Well, unmakes a... would have to be a more of a... Unmakes a Black Legion spell.

m3rcier: Oh, yep. So it couldn't be in Liana.

Nick: Yep. But yeah, you could do it with two...

m3rcier: There's some cheap units.

Nick: You could do it with a friggin' Dead at Arms and a Disgraced Kinship or a Stitched Corpse.

Garrett: Man, this card is going to make people rage. Uh...

Nick: Oh, yeah.

Garrett: Wow, OK, that's amazing. OK, next we've got this is our introduction to faction locked items.

Garrett: And so this is an elite item for two points. It's called the Mercosian Magnifier. And it is it's got two abilities here. This unit gains Arcane Precision.

Garrett: This unit gets plus X accuracy, where X is the number of spells your discard pile, and Clean Strike. Whenever this unit scores a critical graze, it becomes graze instead.

Garrett: um

m3rcier: Yeah, but

Garrett: So that's kind of neat, I guess. ah But it's you know it's mostly just to increase your accuracy. Will this get used a lot?

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: I don't know. that

Nick: I don't see it.

Garrett: I'm sure.

Nick: Yeah, i don't see it being bad on like your seeker ah because it feels really bad to roll that one on like a Polynor or Laundriel.

Garrett: Yeah.

m3rcier: Yeah, the um I think the Arcane Precision, it's going to see it used on some of other elite units that want to buff up their accuracy, especially on like a Laundriel deck.

Garrett: Yeah.

Garrett: Mm-hmm.

m3rcier: We can make sure they're hitting. You know, since elites and uniques are already doing high volumes of damage, you just need to make sure they stick. And there are some times when having that, you know, six graze damage versus the one critical gauge damage can make or break the game, so...

m3rcier: I don't see putting this on basic units unless it's one of the really, really good basic units.

Garrett: Yeah, it's going to be hard to find space for this in a deck, especially a blue deck.

Nick: Yeah, I think so too.

Garrett: um And it's got some flavor text.

m3rcier: Mm-hmm.

Garrett: The magnifier reflects Mirkos himself, an incredible eye attentive to minute details, blinded to the greater sight of the world around him. um So yeah, it's pretty cool.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: um

Nick: And remember Mirakos, right? Mirakos is the one who discovered at the very, very beginning, he's the one who discovered that Amiris was judging all of her children. So I kind of like the kind of the

Garrett: Yes.

Nick: tongue in that of very attentive, he's like, but blind to the greater side of the world around him, because what ends up happening is we get the fall with the great wounding. So I, you know, I like that kind of stab at Mirakos there.

Garrett: Yeah. he's a

m3rcier: but he But he probably is completely unaware of it.

Garrett: what's it What's that called? Tunnel vision?

Garrett: Okay. Moving on to Legion of the Fallen.

Nick: So.

Garrett: And ah these are these these next three units are incredible. um I'm going to start so we keep our our rotation here of the basic unit. I call this thing the masher.

Garrett: you guys call Do you guys say it differently?

Nick: I think that's right, yeah.

Garrett: yeah i'm calling it the masher and this thing looks gnarly um he's just got something on his head you know it's a it's a human and it's got just horrific stats um one accuracy two one zero range six speed ten defense six health uh but here's here's this thing okay it's two points

m3rcier: here

Garrett: and it's convoke fallen when this unit is defeated you may search your deck for a fallen unit of its rank or lower and play it exhausted without spending echo if you do deploy it in this unit's place equipped with any of the attachments this unit had shuffle your deck uh well another card to slap into marita's deck

Nick: Yeah. Yeah.

m3rcier: you just You run it up the field 12. So this is you can forward deploy your slow falling units. You can run up the board and then your opponent has to make a decision. Do I spend one or two attacks to kill this two point unit and then a stronger unit appears in its place or do I just leave it alone?

Nick: I also see it as a good Ingor card. um because anything, Ingor loves anything that has on-death effect. um You know, you run couple basic Fallens in your Ingor deck, and you run this thing up, you can grab a Relic with somebody, and then charge this thing into combat, make its attack, and corpse explosion it, and and blow it up, and now all of a sudden you've got, you know, you Relic equipped to a stronger unit in that's already in melee.

Garrett: Yeah.

Nick: Okay. um Now, granted, basic Falins, you know, we're talking about just great skinships, dead at arms, dead at archers, stitched corpses, which can't carry relics.

Nick: I'm thinking of anything else. Basic Falin.

Nick: don't think I'm missing anything. I think that's it. So, you know, it's not the the most stellar lineup of units, but it's ah it's a free swap.

Garrett: It's also a way to just deploy. You're just getting, maybe for a born doll, a way to get another ah unit out without spinning echo. Like you save one echo or something, like instead of deploying a Discrease Kinship for three, you can put this thing out um and then swap it.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: ah It's got some flavor text. The masher is both a tool of punishment and conversion in life. The mask drowns the prisoner in senselessness.

Garrett: In death, the soul breath it contains quickly reaminates the corpse to fight for the queen. The other saying is disgusting looking.

Nick: Brutal.

Garrett: All right. Anyways, Nick, what do we got next?

Nick: Okay. Uh, probably my favorite card in this, uh, reinforcement pack, which I will say the Legion has, nothing but great cards in this reinforcement pack.

Nick: So the, Maserin Deathsinger.

Garrett: Yeah.

Nick: And so, uh, this is our five cost elite unit, a yeah unit of fallen horror. So it's our first horror card. Um, 2 Accuracy, three two damage, 6 Range, 6 Movement, 11 Defense, 10 Hit Points.

Nick: However, new ability, Mockery 2. Whenever an enemy within 6 inches resolves resolves a Graze, its owner loses 2 Echo. If it is a Critical Graze, you also draw a card.

Nick: It also has Jinx. When this unit is defeated, each opponent discards a card.

Nick: um

Garrett: Incredible.

Nick: I think this is going to be...

m3rcier: ah Lots of good synergies.

Garrett: Incredible.

Nick: Yeah, I think this is to be amazing with Grieza, with Morida. um Maybe, I mean, maybe Vorondahl.

Garrett: That's good with anybody because like Vorndahl, like just he needs help.

Nick: That's good with anybody, yeah.

Garrett: This offers help.

Nick: well And Vorondahl gives that aura of minus two.

Garrett: Yeah, so there was an echo and accuracy.

Nick: Yep. Grieza, you can bring Brighthold Custodians, which can turn things into grazes. Morida has access to Disembodied, which can turn hits into grazes, as well as all the phasing units that Don't take damage on Grazes.

Nick: um Oh, it's it's going to be hard to fit it at a five cost elite unit, I think. Especially if for like Morta, you love having all your cheap stuff.

Nick: m But it's going to be good. I think people are really going to get some really clever uses out of this card. And then ah we have our flavor next.

m3rcier: I was going to say, definitely in Grieza, where you have the items that give phasing, because you want your spirits anyway, so they give spirit and phasing.

Nick: Oh, go ahead, Alec.

m3rcier: I think Grieza's going to see some good synergy out of this one.

Garrett: It has range.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: it has six inches of range, which is nice because then it can still attack and its ability is passive.

m3rcier: Mm-hmm.

Garrett: so

Nick: Mm-hmm. Yeah, so, sharpened in mockery and tempered in travesty, a Maseran's words slice through a soldier's ego as easily as a sword does flesh.

Garrett: and And it looks gnarly. It's like it's got like a heart

Nick: Oh, I love it. The models are...

m3rcier: ah It can talk mad trash.

Garrett: Yeah, it's got a harp, a bunch of arms playing a harp made of stretch like fleshy, stringy stuff. It's it's it's great. All right, Alan, what's ah what's our what's our next big boy

m3rcier: It's definitely a horror. All right. I think this is i think this was the one that most everyone was like super anticipated for because it was some of the artwork that was revealed, but it's Champion of Drave. He is the nine-point unique for Fallen.

m3rcier: He is a fallen whore also. His stat line is 4 accuracy, 4-2 damage, 0 for range, which is important. It's not nil. 8 movement, 13 armor, and 16 health.

m3rcier: So he's got good movement, good armor, and good health.

Garrett: Eight images, man. Oh, man.

m3rcier: He can book it. I mean, he's got four he's got hands for feet, so yeah, he should be fast.

m3rcier: ah Feigning or feign opening costs one action point. Choose an enemy to retaliate against this unit. This unit performs an attack against that enemy that deals extra damage equal to the damage suffered by the retaliation. So basically you force your opponent, one of your opponent's units to attack you.

m3rcier: And if it deals four damage, you hit it back and then you deal your damage plus four. And that plus four is extra damage. So even if you graze, it still gets added on.

m3rcier: uh so it's good i mean you're you're damaging yourself but you're you're getting to do extra damage which sometimes is more important than uh you need to be because i can take four now and get you off the board so you don't attack me another two times great uh and then the other keyword is triumphant whenever this unit defeats an enemy it recovers health equal to the number of other units within six inches so this actually helps with You know, if you hit a Laundrielle unit bubble or a Cigarette bubble and or any of the Swarm decks, if this guy kills something and he's like low health and he kills it and there's eight units in there, he just goes up eight health. Like it's going to help with some of the Swarm decks. You're gonna have to make sure you kill this guy so he doesn't kill your a cheap unit and get a bunch bunch of health back.

Garrett: Yeah, man.

Nick: Yeah. this This guy's going to be a problem.

Garrett: if Like, thank God he's nine points because it's going to be hard to it's going be hard to deploy him.

Nick: I think you're going to see him in Vorndal. I think you can see him in... Honestly, I would love to see him in Ingor. Because then you can get your red spells in there too.

Nick: Because there's a lot of good red spells that we'll also throw in there. And really make that combat happen faster.

Nick: Move him up with Adrenaline Rush and Faint Opening twice. You have Retribution.

m3rcier: Crawl of stones.

Nick: You have Trial of Stone.

m3rcier: is

Nick: um You have Thunderous Devastation, which can turn your hit into a crit with the bonus damage. So this guy can just hit for like 10 damage easy.

m3rcier: hes He's definitely going to be a spike damage guy.

Nick: um Yeah. And then, you you know, if you're running Ingor and you've got like three boars sitting next to him, You know, you kill something and he's just, he's healing, you know, every time he kills something and you just run this guy around with a bunch of cheap beasts that are taking hits for him.

Nick: It's, I, yeah, I think he's got a place in a lot of ah Legion decks. Maybe not more, again, maybe not Morita because she doesn't like the expensive units. um He doesn't work with her legacy or her necromancy.

Nick: Yeah. But also maybe Morota, because you'll have a bunch of fallen units around him to heal, and having having a tank in the middle of the battlefield is never bad.

Garrett: Yeah. Because she just, you know, instead of playing spells, just save up the Echo, slap this thing on the board, and then just keep surrounding it with more and more skeletons and stiff corpse.

m3rcier: He's definitely going to be a target for some of the more powerful, unique spells.

Nick: So.

Nick: Yeah. Yeah, which again makes them makes him a target, which means it's not getting used on your elite units and your seeker.

m3rcier: I want to get him off the board.

Nick: Yeah, so.

Garrett: Give this guy Reaper's Edge. Give him Everlasting Heart. ah Oh, man.

Nick: Fang of the Damned, so he can free attack and heal. yeah

Garrett: Oh yeah.

Nick: Yep.

Garrett: Awesome.

Nick: Yep. Yeah, he's... yeah like Like I said, Legion, I think, came out big in this Reinforcement Pack.

Garrett: Um, and to continue to continue, we've got the spells next. Uh, so this is the basic one, two points. It's called horrific archery, a super cool artwork. Um, his arm is the bow, uh, deal.

Garrett: It's a channel spell deal to damage to a unit. during this activation it gets plus six range and it's flavor texas as the sculptor is to clay so is the necromancer to flesh um so all right i i'm not super duper excited about this one but yeah slap it on slept on because you can you can slap it on onslaught right

m3rcier: Vorindahl.

Nick: Vorondahl.

m3rcier: I am Vorindahl.

Nick: Vorondahl. Yep.

m3rcier: It's three more spells I can use.

Nick: Oh, you you could... I'm thinking of a dead...

m3rcier: Triggers the legacy.

Nick: Yeah, it triggers legacy.

Garrett: oh yeah oh that's right that's right

Nick: So you have a Deadeye Archer. You Deadeye Archer, you attack, it gets... you take It gets two damage, it gets to make a free attack. It now has 14-inch range, and its critical...

Nick: Deadshot is now at 7-inch range for plus-one damage, and then it makes three attacks.

Garrett: Yes.

Garrett: Beautiful.

Nick: Yeah, so I think Vorndahl, that's definitely going to see it in Vorndahl decks. I don't know that you'll see it a lot in other units or other Seekers, but...

Garrett: Oh, that's beautiful. i didn't think that i I don't use his legacy enough. When I'm actually playing with him, all I ever get to use is to persist.

m3rcier: That's because there's not a lot of damage done stuff.

Garrett: Yeah.

Nick: There's only a couple of spells.

Garrett: Oh, we're back.

Nick: Yep.

Garrett: He's back. He's back. All right. Nick?

Nick: All right. Soul Mimicry. Our elite spell at three Echo. Spell channel. Choose an ally. Until the end of the activation, it has the abilities of another ally within six inches instead of its own.

Nick: um

Garrett: Yes.

Nick: Yeah. i

Garrett: Yes.

Nick: I love it. I love this card. I love this card.

m3rcier: Yes. So, uh,

Nick: um Now you have you have so many... There's so many things you can do. It doesn't say like... it doesn't say like non-seeker ally. So all of a sudden you can, Morrida can necromancy twice because you can just have your random stitched corpse necromancy out of your discard pile.

m3rcier: he records by her and he just, when he can, he does this so he can do that.

Nick: Yeah. um Which means Morda doesn't have to be spending her actions to necromancy, or you can just necromancy twice. Either way. Vorndal can give his onslaught to just a random unit, or ah you can get just anything. There's so many combinations. Grieza, Grieza was spirit master. ah There's so many things.

Garrett: Yeah, cheeky cheeky flying to get a relic, pull it out, all kinds of stuff.

m3rcier: And take, uh,

Nick: Yeah.

m3rcier: well, and also if you don't want, if you have a unit, you know, is going to die.

Nick: Yeah. Especially with the,

m3rcier: Like it might die to a retaliation and you have a board nearby. You can mimicry to the board. That way if they kill you, it blows up.

Nick: It's, I mean, you could even, like, the champion of draft we just talked about, you know, like, you can just give that to any other unit that you have.

m3rcier: Mm. Hmm.

Nick: in that When you look at these dual color seekers, all of a sudden you have an entire faction's worth of units that can gain legion unit abilities and vice versa.

m3rcier: faking Athens focus blast from him and using it on a freaking skeleton having focus blasts is hilarious.

Garrett: Oh my gosh, didn't even think about that. Yeah, yeah.

Nick: Yeah, I think.

m3rcier: You could also, ah no it's not. Well, it'd have to be Grisa. You could turn a, at least two times you could turn one of your shittier units into a priest.

Nick: yeah. yeah

Garrett: Or what's that ability that the Blood Feast Raptor, or whatever it's called, has it where you activate you like lose health?

m3rcier: Dyer.

Garrett: Dire?

m3rcier: Yeah, but it's it only gets him to end of the round, so Dyer wouldn't do anything to him.

Nick: Yeah, you wouldn't be able to time it on that.

Garrett: a

Nick: um

m3rcier: I mean, I see this as a staple in most Legion decks just because of the flexibility it gives you.

Nick: But it still has...

Garrett: yeah

Nick: But like yeah, Primal has Seksakar that has the bombardment splash damage that all of a sudden now you can just do that with anybody. even your seek Again, even your Seeker. You can have your Seeker.

Nick: Ingor can just take bombardment and blast two things. um you know, Grieza, you can give Effers reach and like sweep ability to your random spirits in the front line.

Nick: um I'm curious on the Masher, because when this unit's defeated, you may search deck for a unit of its rank or lower and play it exhausted, but Soul Mimicry is until the end of activation.

Nick: So Yeah.

m3rcier: Yeah, you'd have to get the unit it does it would have to die during its own activation.

Nick: Right, so you can have a unit, like an elite or even a unique unit, give it the Masher ability, Convoke Fallen, and then get it killed somehow? I know. That's tricky, tricky, but if you got it killed, it would Convoke, and you could pull another elite or a unique unit out of your deck without Echo.

m3rcier: and play it.

Nick: I don't know how you'd play around it, because you'd have to get it killed. Yeah,

Garrett: Oh, the terrain. The flesh gardens.

Nick: I was thinking Flesh Gardens.

m3rcier: Yeah, run run it into the terrain.

Garrett: Plus three three damage.

Nick: So that's a really, it's a really specific situation to pull out this soul mimicry with a masher nearby, but you could do it.

Garrett: Hmm.

Nick: You could do it. So anyway, so flavor text on this one is ah the memories of a thousand souls reside within me, little soldier.

m3rcier: All right.

Nick: Which of them would you rather be your doom?

Garrett: Hmm. Hmm.

Nick: And with that, we'll move on.

m3rcier: Yes, so the unique three-cost channel spell is Choice of Maladie. And it is choose a refreshed non-seeker enemy.

m3rcier: Its owner may exhaust that enemy. If they don't, draw all three cards. and The flavor text is deadlier than the Amalok are the words that convince you to drink it.

Garrett: Awesome.

Nick: Yeah, beautiful spell.

m3rcier: Yeah, so you either give up a non-seeker activation or I get to draw three cards.

Nick: Yeah, and it doesn't say like basic elite. It doesn't say like, I mean, it could just can be like their big non-cost champion of Dra'ov and you say like, you say exhaust them or I get three cards.

m3rcier: ah champion of Drav.

Nick: Yeah, i'm I'm definitely putting this in pretty much any Legion deck that I play.

Garrett: There's no reason not to. Yeah.

Nick: There's no reason not to.

m3rcier: it's It's good. Yeah, yeah I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't take that three-card draw strong. I mean, so far, I can see reason to have some you know more than 30 cards in some decks nowadays.

m3rcier: have We have some increased options for draw.

Garrett: Right. Um, all right. So that thing's excellent. And we have our next, uh, Legion faction lock blade or item. It's the Oscarite blade.

Garrett: It's a unique two cost item.

m3rcier: Elite. Elite, not unique.

Nick: That's elite.

Garrett: Elite. Sorry, I said unique.

Nick: Yep.

Garrett: i said i meant elite. It's silver. And this one this one's better than the last one. This unit gains power plus one, so it's you plus one damage. And it reap two.

Garrett: Whenever this unit defeats an enemy, you score two extra mastery. And the flavor test is Ascara blamed Tan Ravlim for the fall of Abbasola, believing her mother had been too soft on the crimes of her brethren.

Garrett: Never again would they be so merciful. This blade is a yes, attach it.

Nick: And which unit do you attach it to, Garrett?

Garrett: Anything. What do you mean, which unit?

Nick: I was like, the champion of Draw.

Garrett: Champion's from.

m3rcier: the The units that are going to be killing shit.

Garrett: ah No, this thing is freaking awesome. The two extra mastery adds up so fast.

Nick: Oh, yeah. I mean, especially because, like, again, put on Vorndal. That's three melee attacks, and he's doing seven damage on a hit. And that ye you put... You you quipped you combo that with the...

Nick: um reaper's edge relic and he's doing nine damage on a hit and then he's basically one-shotting units getting extra master you just it's so this is so good

m3rcier: It

m3rcier: it just has to kill one unit to pay for itself.

Nick: yeah yeah it's uh it's awesome very spooky

Garrett: Yes. Okay. Moving on. Next is Primal Blood. ah Okay.

m3rcier: Yep.

Garrett: This card is all right it's cards super great. and It's the murder of Shriekers. so It's like a bunch of birds. um

Nick: Yeah, the model the model looks great.

Garrett: It's super good. Yeah. ah They have really big mouths. really It's like it's like all head

m3rcier: I will say, will say I'm not looking forward to printing these though. The models look amazing. They look like I'm going to have to like talk to my printer with sweet lullabies to get it to print these.

Garrett: this Yeah, this is a resin situation. I think FDM would struggle.

m3rcier: Definitely not FDM.

Garrett: um Okay, so this is basic unit. Three three point cost. um It has no accuracy, no power, no range. It has eight... uh 12 defense and six health okay so it's a beast it has three abilities so for two action points it has overrun two this unit performs a move that can pass over the units and husks deal two damage to each unit it passes over this way and remember malediction you can move units curved so you don't have to move over your own units you can try and like guide it and then

m3rcier: You can ziggy-zag the movement.

Garrett: Sorry, that was my compressor. And then, what'd you say?

m3rcier: You can ziggy-zag the movement.

Garrett: Yes. And then flying, obviously, can fly over obstacles. And phasing, whenever graze is scored against the unit, it prevents the damage. ah So this is this is pretty cool.

Garrett: It's a good way to just rack up damage on units, and the phasing makes it really hard to hit.

Nick: And there's there's one last there's one thing that's missing that we've seen on every other beast in this game so far.

m3rcier: Yep.

Garrett: Clumsy.

Nick: And it's not clumsy.

Garrett: Yeah.

m3rcier: it can pick up that relic and run with it.

Nick: So you... Yeah, they got those little claws.

m3rcier: Mm-hmm.

Nick: Yeah, so these guys, eight speed, they can fly out, grab a relic, and then overrun their way back.

m3rcier: So it...

Garrett: interesting

m3rcier: Yeah, and the overrun is a movement, so it's not like a shift, so it doesn't have to be in a straight line. So you can ziggy-zag, which I'm going to shamelessly plug Garrett. The flex rollers are will be great for this guy because you can just pinch the roller where you know your 6-inch or your 8-inch movement is, then you can lay out the ziggy-zag, show your opponent,

Nick: Okay.

m3rcier: the damage everything.

Nick: Now, my question for this though, is since it's not a shift, that means it provokes retaliation, right?

m3rcier: If it starts with it engaged, but if it just moves over you, it doesn't matter.

Nick: Right. So, so you can tie it, you tie it down so it can't get away.

Garrett: Yeah.

m3rcier: And then to... Just to be clear here, for its accuracy, attack, and range, it has the nil symbol. So even if you put something on it that gives it accuracy, damage, or ranged, it doesn't do anything.

m3rcier: It can never have those three stats because it has the nil. If it has a zero, you can increase the stat. But if it's nil, it cannot be increased.

m3rcier: So this guy, is ah he's a fetcher. he He fetches the relics and then brings them back to you with overrun, like Nick said, and hands them off.

Garrett: All right, Nick, moving on.

Nick: Alright.

Garrett: We've got my beloved pangolins.

Nick: We love these guys. So, our elite unit. Our 6 cost. The Behemoth Kuyakin. This is a beast. 4 accuracy. 5-2 damage. 0 range.

Nick: 4 speed. 12 defense with 14 hit points. It's got a few abilities as well. And i think I said is this is a beast as well. So our new ability is relocate two.

Nick: Two AP. Place this unit anywhere within 12 inches of its current position, ignoring obstacles. Deal two damage to each other nearby unit. Provoke retaliation.

Nick: um And then it has resistance one. So whenever it's dealt damage, it suffers one fewer. And then it's clumsy. It cannot equip attachments. um Yeah, these guys are big, burrowing beasts.

Nick: i'm ah I'm excited. I like it. I like it a lot.

Garrett: Yeah, this thing's going to be a relic contester, I tell you what.

Nick: Yeah.

Nick: Yeah,

m3rcier: Yeah, he's he's nice. ah Get him out there.

Garrett: So much health, too. like He's going to be a problem just sitting somewhere while you're running over there with the rest of your stuff.

Nick: because with resistance, you you jump out, you hit things.

m3rcier: ah

Nick: And then you just go like, I'm going relocate again. I'll provoke. I don't really care because I'm going to take, you know, a couple of you might graze me, deal one or two damage. to take one zero or one damage and maybe a hit.

Nick: And I'm going to get over here and do this again.

m3rcier: I mean, it's AOA damage too, so against protection units, he's going to help out.

m3rcier: So.

m3rcier: Go.

Garrett: Okay, okay, everybody, special appearance by the community manager himself, Jason Kloher. A big round of applause. Now, hey, Jason, thanks for joining us midway through our our unit discussion here.

Jason: Yeah, thank you. Obviously, midway through, just hopped off of the train for Spider-Man brand new day. i was talking earlier to you guys, obviously, and my son's birthday is tomorrow, so we took him out for dinner, ah caught a little Spider-Man.

Jason: Obviously, it helps that I like Spider-Man, so it makes it better that way to to enjoy our our evening more regards this.

Garrett: Yeah, one of the best birthday ever for that guy.

Jason: Yeah, not yet.

Garrett: Gosh dang.

Jason: So he he hasn't gotten his presence yet. Tomorrow he's going to get his presence and he'll he'll hopefully give us his best day ever.

Garrett: Jeez.

Jason: You know, growing up, he's done that whole, you know best day ever kind of thing. And he hasn't done it in a while, but I think tomorrow he'll do that as well. So, but yeah, I'm a, I kind of just sat down the chair here and I'm in my pilot's chair flying by the seat of my pants.

Garrett: Oh, yeah.

Nick: That's great.

Jason: Alan's like, Hey, come on in. We're doing the podcast now. So I'm like, sure, absolutely. Let me just ah jump in and, and, and go swinging. Yeah.

Garrett: All right, let's do it. All right, Alan, switching back to you, elite unit.

m3rcier: Yeah, the elite units. This is gonna be Iriana and Areton. think I said those right. This is our Orican shifter. 8 cost unique.

m3rcier: 4 accuracy, 4-2 damage, 0 range, 8 movement, 12 defense, 14 health.

m3rcier: Three abilities. Command Beast. Whenever this unit activates a basic or elite beast ally you own within six inches, or I'm sorry, well, whenever this unit activates, a basic or elite beast ally you own within six inches may perform a move.

m3rcier: Aura of Swarm. Other allies within six inches gain Swarm 1. and dash this during this unit's activation it may perform a free move so uh i think my favorite ability there is going to be the aura of swarm

Garrett: Yeah, I love giving swarm to units, but also this thing having dashes. This thing is cruising across the board.

Nick: Oh, yeah.

Jason: Yeah. I think dash to me is, yeah, dash to me is probably one of my favorite abilities or keywords that we have, because again, you're, you know, you're, you're saving those action points for other stuff um outside of that additional movement, which is great.

m3rcier: you know 20 24 inches of

Jason: So you could still get in a ah movement, you know, at at a eight inches for a single move, which is still pretty good. Having that as well to then have still two action points to burn is nice.

Garrett: Yeah.

Jason: I, I, call this card the the Mad Max card because it reminds me of Master Blaster. and it ah It's a reference for those of people that may know the movie.

m3rcier: and with With Thunder, he can dash, and then he's got a 16-inch, but technically 17-inch, charge. So there's nowhere on the map you're really safe from him.

Nick: Yeah, yeah um i'm I'm really happy to see this with both Ingor and Liena. m um've been I've been waiting.

Garrett: Oh, pause real fast. We got that weird audio thing with Nick.

Nick: Sorry about that. um No, I'm really excited to see this card with Ingor and Liena because All summer long i've been waiting for the Beast Pack to come out because I really want to do a Primal Blood, like, Beast-themed deck.

Nick: And with, like, Command Beast or a Swarm, all your, like, you know, for Ingor, you have all the Tarak Beasts and Bors. ah You can even have, like, a the Bloodfeast Raptor is a Beast.

Nick: Yeah. yeah All these things that can just move and get into position. They can attack, they all get these bonus damage. With Lyanna, you can stack that swarm with Spellstrike. Uncaged experiments are also beasts.

Nick: And so this allows them to move without having to spend their entire turn moving. and And so they get in position, they have Swarm, they make three attacks, and you know you play a spell to give them plus... you know They have plus two damage on three attacks in turn on a unit that costs like three Echo to get out.

Nick: I think you're we're really going to see Primal Blood taking some taking Swarm tactics to another level.

m3rcier: Yeah, mean, Ingor.

Garrett: Yeah.

m3rcier: You're putting this in your Ingor deck, right?

Nick: Oh yeah. Oh yeah.

Garrett: I'm really glad to see these ah these new elite units are really worth their echo, like all the way, instead of just being for bid cards.

Nick: Yeah, I get what you're saying. um I feel like the more and more we play, the more I feel like this like a lot of those six and seven cost elite units are... you know I'd rather have two basic units than one of those elites.

Nick: and a Yeah, I feel like everything and that we've talked about tonight has been worth their points.

Garrett: Yeah, these are all like game winners.

Garrett: All right, we're moving it we're moving on to spells.

m3rcier: Definitely high value.

Garrett: Primal Blood spells. All right, so the basic the basic is it's a one-cost spell. It's called Raptors Lift. It's a channel. During this activation, an ally gets plus three movement and gains flying.

Garrett: and So it's flavor text, it's Fear Not the Rapture, but those who dare ride Uh, so yeah, I mean, this, I mean, this increases your, um, your speed so you can take your, you know, your charge from five or six to 12, uh, and, and double that plus, you know, if you start, or like if you, with this stack with the Asterian pathways.

m3rcier: Yes. I think it's text.

Garrett: Yeah. So like you can make a unit charge like 20 plus inches, um, with this card.

Jason: Yeah, you add on the the the distance too from sacrificing a card, you know, three movements inches from there.

m3rcier: like stack

Jason: You got the three from this Raptors lift. I mean, the cost is great too. Obviously a one cost card, right? So it's it's a no brainer if you're looking to get some quick movement in as well.

Nick: It's also gonna be great for a lot of surprise tactics. Because i know the artwork shows like the Boneclaw Raider. But, you know, units with Dash, like, you know, Boneclaw Raider has six move with Dash.

Nick: And all of a sudden, now that has nine move and flying and Dash. And so you look, you know, you're doing the math, you're putting yourself in position, and you're saying, okay, That bone claw over there can get over here, but I can at least keep them from charging or keep them from from engaging.

Nick: And then on their turn, they go, I've spent one Echo and i my bone claw is not flying. It dashes nine inches and charges or or just moves in a position that attacks twice um over terrain or something.

Nick: it's It's a really good gotcha moment.

Garrett: You know who else I like this on? Auric. Auric Evenhand in his deck to give him some speed boost.

Nick: All of his five speed units? Yeah.

Garrett: Yeah.

m3rcier: Or Marmok. Give this to him and rever and then reverb it.

Garrett: Yep.

m3rcier: I don't think the reverb does anything though because you know the other unit during this activation. But

Nick: Unless you... well, no, you couldn't play a second. Yeah, you couldn't play a second spell. was thinking about, like, you would trample through, but you'd have to play two channels.

m3rcier: yeah but it's it's a one-cost spell that helps you get into position to attack at which point then you have Spellstrike on. So I can see it a little bit in Liana, but it it might Might find a ah be difficult to find a place for it.

Nick: Yeah, I feel like Liana has a lot of units that are already quick, and then you also have access to Leaston Stride, which in...

m3rcier: Mm-hmm.

Nick: you know There's definitely situations where one is better than the other, but I think Leaston Stride is more versatile.

Garrett: All right, elite spell, Nick.

Nick: Alright, Land Shift. This is a swift spell for three. As a player declares the first player to activate a unit on that round, choose a husk.

Nick: Place the chosen husk anywhere within six inches of its current position, ignoring obstacles. ah

Garrett: This is awesome.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: This is so cool.

Nick: it's we've we'd never We've never seen anything in the game interact with the husks in like this kind of way. This is hilarious.

m3rcier: Yes, I'm going to pick that husk up at the start of the round, set it somewhere else. And then on my activation, I'm going to blow it up as Lyanna.

Garrett: Yeah, I just like the fact because people always put the husks like ah on terrain, right? on ah On a wall that they can get to, but you can't. So now you just take the husk it on the other side of the wall.

Nick: Yeah, it's going to be obnoxious.

Garrett: That's going to yeah, that's to be good. There's two of them.

m3rcier: Yep. You want to read the flavor text?

Nick: Yeah, flavor text. So, Zork raised his hands and roared, beckoning the land to obey his will. Polinor muttered a silent curse, mentally scrapping the strategy he had so exhaustively crafted.

Garrett: ah That's good. ah Yeah, no, i said this is going to be good. All right, Alan. ah

m3rcier: Yeah.

Garrett: See, our unique here.

m3rcier: The Elite Spell. Elite Spell for three. Ymirian Rage. It's a spell channel. Deal five damage to a unit. Return any of its equipped relics to the bottom of the relic deck.

m3rcier: If you do, that unit claims and equips a relic from the top of the relic deck. So, it's just a fuck straight five damage. So, if that can kill a unit, kills a unit. If it doesn't, though, like, say, I have Reapers.

m3rcier: You deal five damage to me, I lose reapers and get whatever the hell sit on top of that deck at a time. So, I mean, it's got utility. It's a damage spell, but also it can remove a... Use it to remove a key relic that your opponent has.

Nick: yeah

m3rcier: So, I like it. I just... I could definitely see a Woecaster Shaman casting this to make it six or seven damage depending on their health. hu There's a lot going on with it.

Garrett: Yeah, this has got a lot of utility to neuter someone's perfect relic they've got sitting on their seeker.

Nick: yeah yeah definitely um you know you have like a laundry or pollinar with a tempest scepter veil piercer um let's say you know uh well you know it's hard because this is this being a primal spell if you i guess if you're a 2v2 and your your ally is morta or vorendal you can knock out a reaper's edge to save their discard pile um but even ingor doesn't like reaper's edge because banished units don't go to your discard pile and they don't trigger the legacy so

Garrett: Mm-hmm.

Nick: I mean, even in Ingor deck, you want to... yeah yeah I mean, really, guess I guess most Seekers don't want their opponent to have Reaper's Edge. so

Garrett: Yeah, like is you want to get rid of that.

m3rcier: Oh, yeah.

Garrett: Get rid

m3rcier: had ah Get rid of the boots when Thunder Steps picks them up.

Nick: Yep, yep.

Garrett: of the boots. Get rid of the Spell Eater's Mask off somebody who's taken away your entire strategy of being able to use spells on them.

m3rcier: You can't, though. They're spell eater. They'll just ignore your spell.

Garrett: Oh, you know what? You're right. you're right you're right that's a one i picked I picked the one you couldn't actually do it on.

m3rcier: that That's the the the the one relic that ah it's the one relic that tells the spell to go to hell.

Garrett: That's hilarious.

m3rcier: Jason, you got anything on it?

Jason: Yeah, I mean, you know, the fact that it's a three cost, five damage card in itself is good because you're getting that damage from things. But again, I think the power lies in pretty much the ability to deny someone their relic that they were so giddy about picking up initially and just giving them the old ah kind of vibe and and saying, nope, you're not going to use that Reaper's Edge. Or again, you're not going to use those Celerity Boots. Yeah.

m3rcier: Yeah, get rid of that Reapers or those boots and give them the the cloak.

Jason: I mean, the cloak the the um yeah the the cloak is the best relic in the game.

Nick: Yeah.

Jason: I mean, I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to take it. So it's so far one of the best options out there.

m3rcier: but

m3rcier: Uh.

Jason: But yeah, then then they'll curse at you.

m3rcier: It's it's all awesome.

Jason: which

m3rcier: Flavor text on it is Relics Hold Pure Untainted Energy from Ymiris.

Garrett: All right, and then, oh yeah.

m3rcier: The All Mother. I'm sorry. I sure said that. There was a pause there. Not a full stop. Still, the Primal Blood know how to make it rage. And the artwork is of the a helmet exploding while it's you know where is wearing it. So it's probably not too fun for the bearer.

Garrett: right, next we've got the uh elite item for the primals it's the avacrin flute and it is it gives battle cry um one ash point an ally own of this unit's rank or lower and within six inches reforms an attack or move once for each ally for activation uh so this thing's awesome because you can slap this on uh your own elite or unique units or even you know your seeker so

Nick: even your seeker.

Garrett: And now it's way better than a, yeah ah what's it, Warfront Commander? Because then you can you can you can utilize it on anything. um

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: This is great. Combine this with Adrenaline Rush, if you're producing so many free action point attacks or moves,

Nick: Oh, yeah, I think, honestly, the only, the only secret I could really see this going on is, uh, Ingor. I think Ingor, Ingor, the Valkyrm flute, uh, because, and we've talked about this before, it's like, it's hard to use him to get his 10 mastery or 10 echo worth.

Nick: Uh, and he's got so many units in front. Um, having something like a blood feast raptor, having something like, uh, Irina and Aritan out that are giving swarm bonuses to all of your beasts. And then having somebody sitting back, just having them attack again, pushing them again.

Nick: Um, even, uh, karma mock can use this, um, because you don't always want car in the melee. If you're going up be against like a, you know, Vorendal or Sigrith or Thundersteps, you know, one of those melee seekers that are going to just one shot car,

Nick: um have Karr sit back and Battlecry, you know, a Gorehorn or or something else in position.

m3rcier: Rondariv, when he can't summon Spellbound, can Battlecry.

Nick: Yeah. Yep.

Garrett: All

m3rcier: But at one cost, going to be like, oh I want to shove two of them in every Primal deck, but also have to find room for it. But it it's probably mean one cost makes it easier, so

Garrett: right. Yeah. um There's no reason not to because it's just it's like having it. You can get two of them out or even just one. It's almost like having an extra unit. um Okay, moving on to the last faction, Order of the Shattered Throne, their new basic unit.

Garrett: It's two cost. It's called the Discordant Voice, and it is a human unit. It has one accuracy, three one attack power, zero range, six movement, 10 defense, and eight health.

Garrett: It's got ah two cool abilities. The first one is Unleash. Whenever an ally activates nearby this unit, you may exhaust this unit if you do it may perform a charge if able and then also is dire one whenever an enemy engage with this unit activates that enemy suffers one damage and this thing is pretty gnarly looking it's just some some scrawny looking uh obviously like uh guy paying for his uh his sends to the oath bound uh with a gigantic uh i know what that how to describe this it looks like a

Nick: It's almost like a stockade, yeah.

Garrett: It looks like a compass ah made of metal, like attached to his head, and he's just swinging this thing. And its flavor text is a dissident's presence cuts deeply through the soul of the faithful.

Garrett: I think that's in the Kong. It cuts deeply through the flesh of the faithless.

m3rcier: Oh, that's the thing he's he's in is called the cog, king.

Garrett: Yeah.

m3rcier: cog king

Nick: Kangoo. Kangoo, so yeah, so...

Garrett: Kangoo Kangoo. All right. What that's a new word I've learned.

Nick: that is that is exactly like the stock we call a stockade.

Garrett: Yeah.

Nick: um

Garrett: But this one's got blades.

Nick: But yeah, this one has big old blades on it. And i also the detail, it's easy to see on the models. They actually have like golden hands strapped like strapped over our mouths to keep them silent.

m3rcier: Yeah, well, and keep them silent, but also I'm assuming it probably shoved something into your mouth.

Garrett: Possibly.

Nick: Who knows? Yeah. But yeah.

Garrett: Uh, do you guys think about this unleash ability?

m3rcier: looks Looks like a rough thing to be in.

m3rcier: i think it is going to be useful because it can get it up there to then put dire in range. And if you have more than one these on the boards, you activate one unit to trigger all of them to rush up the field.

m3rcier: could be ah Could be pretty nice. But when you're doing it, you're losing that activation. That's kind of its crawl back.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: Mm-hmm. Yep. yep

Nick: Yeah. I don't see like cigarette and auric using this. I see this in being useful with Grease. Um, because you also have things like deadly bargain and, um,

m3rcier: We can make it a spirit, launch it up there. So when put the little lantern on it, make it a spirit. Greza activates. This guy charges forward and does his charge attack.

m3rcier: And then Greza can attack twice through him.

Nick: yeah that's absolutely a combo there and then um yeah the dire one is nice especially on a two-cost unit because your opponent your opponent needs to kill it because it's just going to keep poking damage um but that's eight hit points that's that's health they have that's actions they have to take to kill it damage they're taking in the meantime and then uh yeah like i said like deadly bargain i love i love just throwing cheap units up there and then dropping like a tragedy the wrong on somebody's face when that unit is no longer useful or when it's about to die.

m3rcier: I like him. It's just situational.

Garrett: Love it.

m3rcier: He's not going to in every deck.

Garrett: Yeah. It's more like, I'm to have fun with this. Um, all right. Uh, but the dire one is nice. Okay. Moving on to the elite, Nick.

Nick: All right, so... Order has the Gilded Sentries. They are our elite cost our elite unit, seven costs, ah three accuracy, five two damage, zero range, five movement, 14 defense, 14 hit points.

Nick: Their new keyword is Sentinel. Whenever an enemy resolves an attack, you may exhaust this unit. If you do, it performs a charge against that enemy if able. And it also has Reach 2. This unit's melee attacks can target enemies within two inches.

Garrett: Now that's cool. The two inch reach.

Nick: Yeah, so that it's interesting to me because reach does not improve your retaliation range. So it doesn't allow them to retaliate at 2 inches, it just allows them to attack at 2 inches, which makes the charging easier.

Garrett: Mm-hmm.

m3rcier: But if you if you're two inches away and you shoot it because you think you're safe and it can Siggy, know, Divine Retribution, it can hit you back because it can still do two inch melee.

Nick: Retribution.

Garrett: Now this thing is expensive. Seven Echo.

Garrett: It's going hard.

Nick: It does hit pretty good though. Five damage is...

Garrett: Yeah, you can replace some of your you're more defensive true stone exemplar stuff.

m3rcier: high armor also.

Nick: Yeah, and I guess the the big thing here is that like Reach 2 means that like you charge an enemy and hit them for five at two inches and then in order for them to actually attack you, they have to move into your you know engagement.

Nick: So you do kind of play it around with that little bit of... zoning and action efficiency. But i yeah, I don't know. Sigrith is great. Maybe Auric could also use that because there's a lot of combinations with items

m3rcier: Jason, you wanted to say something, I think? Unmute it.

Jason: Um, no, I mean, you know, a lot of you guys have already covered the Legion, which is by far the superior faction. So I don't have a lot of comments for like the order and primal because I'm a Legion guy myself. i mean, order stuff short with Grisa, but for me and this specific, you know, card or unit, I just like the...

Jason: the models that they did with it, you know, outside of the the unit, you know, the stat block and everything, just the models were really cool idea.

m3rcier: Mm-hmm.

Jason: I like stuff like that. So I think the artwork and then like having those two models being both of the, you know, the, the symmetrical figure.

Nick: both halves.

Jason: Yeah. Which is, which is really cool. That's just a testament to the art department and sculpting team and everything coming up with really cool ideas like that. But, Hard itself, you know, it's it's decent. two inch Two inch melee range is always good because then, you know, you can kind of stay out of that bubble for some people.

Jason: um But I think the best thing is obviously like a higher defense, right? Defense is pretty important. So 14 defense is pretty solid in my eyes.

m3rcier: I can definitely see scaling these guys up quite a bit and then making them bookends.

Garrett: Okay.

Jason: yeah

Garrett: All right. ah a Flavor text, Nick.

Nick: That's good.

Garrett: Flavor text.

Nick: Yeah, so... That our sentries.

Nick: and is our centuries

Garrett: Dope. Okay. Moving on. Alan, we've got big daddy, Ciro himself.

m3rcier: Yeah, Ciro, Hand of Law. He's an 8-cost unique. He's, course, a unit, Vol'Kir. Stat line is 3 Accuracy, 4-2 damage, 6 range, 4 movement, 13 defense, and 16 health.

m3rcier: His ability is Fervor 2 for one action point. You may spend up to two Echo. If you do, this unit performs an attack that deals with that much extra damage. So when you use Fervor, you spend the two Echo, you become a 6-4. And then the Soul Tithe 3 for one action point.

m3rcier: You can deal up to three damage to another ally you own within six inches. If you do, you gain equal or you gain echo equal to the damage suffered this way. So two important things there.

m3rcier: Cannot do it to himself. Why would he hurt himself? And two, the damage actually has to be suffered.

Nick: Yep. So no cigarette.

m3rcier: if you reduce the damage yeah If you reduce the damage, it reduces the echo you gain.

Nick: Yep.

m3rcier: And the flavor text is, to quote, unattributed. If you have nothing to hide, then why do you shudder at my presence, faithful?

Garrett: It makes sense. It makes sense perfectly.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: ah Well, i's say the the soul tie is the fervor two is great. Soul tie is great. I don't know if he's as as amazing as the champion of draft, but no, anything that you can get six like six range and then do six damage six for damage reliably.

Garrett: i mean, he's really slow. so that's just gonna it's gonna take a while to get across the board. You have to deploy him forward.

m3rcier: sticks.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: Yeah.

Nick: Yeah. I like the idea of running him with like a bunch of priests and and really doing like an echo generation and just having this fervor ability. You don't have to use the Soul Tithe all the time if you have Volcarus Priest right behind him pumping your echo up.

Nick: And so just having him blasting. But just the idea that um you know There's a little bit of that... You get that kind of almost ludicative narrative where we get the game and the lore kind of going where you have Sigrith using her legacy to prevent damage and then Ciro coming through and saying, like no, you're going to take the damage. and it's like If you prevent it, you don't get the echo.

Nick: There's this kind of tug of war between like the idea of Sigrith's perception of like doing the right thing and Ciro who is coming into the malediction to enact the the law of the of the rights.

Nick: um And they don't they don't always work together, right?

Nick: So I just think it's like i'll out of joy I enjoy that kind of moment like that.

m3rcier: Yeah, I can see a little the little bubble on the back with zero, and he's got two or three priests standing around him. He can soul tie twice, but only do two damage to two of the priests because it's up to three damage, so he gets to pick.

m3rcier: So he can generate four on his turn. The two priestly damage can generate three plus heal themselves.

m3rcier: So it's just the, it I mean, it's four units on the table, but ah yeah, there's almost endless echo there.

Nick: Yeah, I wonder if we're gonna see this more with like Laundrielle. um

m3rcier: With Athen, you have your, yeah.

Nick: Yeah, with the Prime Decimation.

m3rcier: I'm going to go ahead and spend the 14 echo that i just generated to attack for 24 damage.

Nick: Yeah. and kill Countess Morda in her deployment zone on turn one.

Garrett: ah

Nick: all right.

Garrett: oh man okay uh moving on all right we got our got our spells so the basic spell channel it's uh three three cost um choose and oh sorry it's called twisted charity choose a non-seeker refreshed unit it recovers health until its health equals uh its health If it recovered five or more health this way, exhaust that unit.

Garrett: And then it's got some flavor text. Blessed be the pious whose suffering opens their eyes to the grandeur of our charity, the word of Valkyries. Yeah, so it's just another healing card.

Garrett: um

Garrett: ah Yes, why not? um The downside is though, if you're bringing a unit up to full health, you lose its activation.

Nick: Yeah. I think ah this might be another case where we might maybe we'll see more second wind ah come out, refresh your unit.

Garrett: Yeah.

Nick: um But yeah, some some of these units, especially elites and uniques for order, I mean, you're talking about 14, 16 hit points. ah It's a lot of healing. And it...

m3rcier: yeah but also with grisa it's a damage healing spell so if i cast it on a guy to just do like two points of healing cool i just dealt three damage

Nick: That was...

Nick: Yep, that was exactly what about to say.

Nick: And also, Greza doesn't care if his unit's exhausted, he attacks through it anyway.

Garrett: Yep.

m3rcier: Nope.

Nick: Beautiful.

Garrett: right, Nick. Demand the confession.

Nick: Alright, our elite spell, Demand Confession. This costs 2, which is cheaper than the basic spell. This is a channel spell. Yeah. this spell lot. if you do an opponent may reveal a card of the same cost from their hand if they don't look at that opponent's hand and choose a card for them to discard flavor text is are you so ignorant that you believe your sin escapes the gaze of the everlasting lay bare your heart and face our punishment lest you prefer their wrath zero hand of law

Nick: yeah ah i like this spell lot

Garrett: Right.

m3rcier: Yeah, I like it.

Nick: ah

m3rcier: Uh, let me just show me the unique you're going to play next turn anyway. and

m3rcier: And you need discard a card essentially. i mean, it's two cost mill, one cost mill.

Nick: Yeah, and it's it's not just a spell card. It's not just a spell card. So it can be, I'm revealing like a seven cost unit card.

Garrett: right

Nick: And if you're only holding spells, you get you can't reveal anything. And now I get to look at your hand. Anything that looks like most people's hands. Between this and Drown with Oblivion, you can run a Grease deck that just absolutely messes with your opponent's hand.

m3rcier: Yeah, I like it

Nick: Oh. That's mean.

m3rcier: it. Jason, you have anything on this one?

Jason: I mean, it's it's definitely a card that probably will not make you friends when you use it, especially in that case of dropping a you know a seven card cost and they don't have something in their hand and they're forged at discard. But yeah, I mean, everyone likes discard in games like this. So it's got some pretty weight behind it for sure.

m3rcier: Well, I'm definitely aiming to get rid of that enforced balance out of Sigurd's hand.

m3rcier: And if they whine about it, going to be like shut up.

Nick: You got be careful though.

Jason: So,

m3rcier: Okay.

Nick: Enforce balance is swift spell. So when you play this, they go, i hold up, interrupt.

m3rcier: the

Nick: Yeah,

Garrett: hold up yeah

m3rcier: but but Yes. All right. the The unique spell is a five cost. It's triumphant liturgy. One of you two that can speak better than I can.

m3rcier: How do you say that?

Garrett: yes liturgy

Nick: liter yeah liturgy.

m3rcier: There you go.

Nick: Yep.

m3rcier: Spell channel. Choose two effects and resolve them. An opponent resolves the remaining effect. The three effects are draw two guards, refresh an ally, and gain five echo.

m3rcier: The flavor text is three rows amidst 13, order, faith, and punishment, were they. Three whose names shall be praised forevermore.

m3rcier: Triumphant liturgy, first chant.

m3rcier: So we get a lot of stuff out of their books.

Garrett: Man, this is a good this is a good channel spell.

Nick: Yeah.

m3rcier: Refresh an ally. It doesn't say non-seeker, so you can refresh Laundrielle or or Rogarth, if God help you.

Garrett: Oh, man.

Jason: The chicken kang.

Garrett: Grisa.

Nick: and like you You choose the two.

m3rcier: Yeah, I'm just trying to figure out.

Nick: so it's not like your opponent chooses one and then you get the other two. It's like, no, you i'm I'm refreshing my Seeker. You get five Ekro.

m3rcier: i mean It's hilarious. The perfect time to play this would be you have initiative or you're you're activating first. like You're doing the first unit initiative or not. You play it.

m3rcier: You pick, draw two cards, gain five Echo, and they get nothing out of it because all their people are refreshed.

Garrett: Yep.

Nick: That's too mean.

Garrett: That is how to do it.

Nick: You can't.

Garrett: That's the only way to play it.

m3rcier: it's not like I'm not casting spells to be nice to them.

Nick: You can't. You can't do that, dude. You can't do that to people.

m3rcier: ah The Order absolutely would.

Nick: You're playing that immediately after playing that demand confession. I know. I just know it.

Garrett: ah

Garrett: Awesome. I don't know.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: Yeah, it's just great. and There's a lot of ways to to play this, depending on your situation, right? Especially when, you know, late game and just getting getting two smites out of Cigareth. Oh, geez.

Nick: You also can obno you be can be incredibly obnoxious to your opponent. Refresh an ally, gain 5 echo as Sigrith, and then they draw 2 cards, and then you go, and now I enforce balance.

Garrett: Enforce balance? Oh, no.

Nick: Yeah.

m3rcier: Or also, for Siggy, drawing those two cards, it's two more...

Garrett: Oh, yeah.

m3rcier: That's six moves can reduce, too.

Nick: No, it it definitely is. definitely is, but it's very situational. I'm just saying, it's situational. You can also do it that way.

m3rcier: Hmm.

Nick: And then gaining five Echo can be nothing.

Garrett: Yeah.

Nick: like I've seen Savannah's Ingor deck pop off where she's got like 21 Echo because she keeps losing units and getting Echo. And it's like, she's got four cards in her hand. There's no way she can spend all that Echo. You go, here's five more.

Nick: What does it what does it matter?

Garrett: Yeah, just add to the stack. I don't care.

Nick: Yeah.

m3rcier: Yeah, I had that problem with Laundrielle at one point. I had 34 Echo and nothing to do with it.

Nick: Oh my God.

m3rcier: And Lyschirm Decimation would have been fun.

Nick: What are you doing?

m3rcier: of

m3rcier: Last one, Garrett, is you?

Garrett: The last one, this is the unique or well, it's elite, but it's locked to order an elite item two point cost. Oh man, let me butcher this. ah

Garrett: x thanks Expetrian scourge. I right.

m3rcier: Good enough for me.

Garrett: Expetrian? All right. ah This unit gains penance too. Whenever this unit performs an attack, you may deal up to two damage to it.

Garrett: If you do, that attack deals that much extra damage. ah Real quick flavor text. ah Lady Expetria taught us of our frailty, of bloodshed as a reminder of our place beneath the gods. In her name,

Garrett: We bleed and we remember Septus Veracundo of the Rite of the Penitent. um This is probably my least favorite item of the Reinforcers packs, but still, you know, it's still not bad.

m3rcier: Another septic...

Garrett: Two extra damage is two extra damage, although you're taking that as well.

Nick: Yeah, but you have things like Sigrith smiting, which is her her whole turn to do extra damage.

Garrett: Yep.

Nick: So she'd only take two damage to do two extra damage, and then you know there's plenty of ways you can get regeneration, you can heal with priests, and and then of course you're playing Sigrith, you have the ability to reduce damage incoming, so taking two damage isn't the worst situation in the world.

Garrett: Yeah, and another item for

Nick: Yeah.

Nick: Yeah, and that's interesting too, because ah how does how is protection work with this?

m3rcier: I'm just.

Nick: Because

Garrett: he's a legacy.

Nick: if...

m3rcier: You could protect it and you still did the damage, I guess.

Nick: Yeah.

m3rcier: We'll have to see.

Nick: Yeah,

m3rcier: I mean, i'm I'm more excited for the lore. We learned another Septus over the actual item itself.

Nick: yeah because... ah Yeah, so expiatra is one of our triumvirate, right? um

m3rcier: hmm.

Nick: Her name translates rough roughly to punishment or penitence. um

Garrett: What a nice person. Yeah, the art is really cool.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: It's it's like a, what is that, a flail?

Nick: A flail, yeah.

m3rcier: I

Garrett: Gnarly looking.

Nick: Technically, it is a scourge. That is the that type of flail.

Garrett: Yeah.

Nick: oh it's I think it's a good spell or a good item. um It's not like an auto-include and there are better items, but I think it's definitely got a place.

m3rcier: mean, it's going to be hard to find its place.

Nick: Yeah.

m3rcier: Right. ah That is that. I want to do community spotlight. Does one of y'all want to do this one? Since both of y'all are also familiar with it.

Garrett: Oh gosh, I gotta back to the notes. ah Community spotlight. All right, there's the there's the intro. All right, Nick, you you you were more on this, but the community's...

Nick: um was again I was going to say real quick, though, but we got Jason here.

Garrett: Yes.

Nick: Jason, do you want to light weigh in on any of your favorite cards from the reinforcement packs, even the things we covered before you jumped in?

Garrett: Yeah, you're on the spot now.

Jason: I'm on the spot now. Man, my favorite reinforcement card is probably going to be... ah

m3rcier: Legion. once He already said he's Legion guy, I guess.

Jason: I mean, yeah, it's... I kind of like the Deathsinger that we just recently revealed. um I like the mockery too, because Legion in my eyes had initially, you know, we had curse, right? With the Anush dis Disciples. But it's like, it wasn't that great. And then here it's like, okay, now like literally as long as they're within six inches of this, um you know, if they get a graze, then they're losing two echo. And we all know Legion likes phasing. So I'm a big fan of that card.

Garrett: Yeah, we loved it too.

Jason: Yeah.

Nick: Yeah.

Jason: Yeah.

Garrett: Mockery.

Nick: We talked we talked to yeah we talked to a few few ways we can we can use that. No, I agree with you

m3rcier: I never thought about it mocking, mocking curse, but that is hilarious.

Nick: Yeah, I definitely i agree i agree with you. Curse, I think, needs something. Like, I was playing around the idea, like, what if when you cursed, you gained half the Echo you drained or something?

Nick: um Because it needs some kind of buff.

Jason: mean, yeah

Nick: It's just too situational.

Jason: i mean Initially, we know there were conversations like in the community, right? Obviously, like Curse of of the Disciples, almost almost like it being in it on you know on a successful hit or on whenever damage is dealt. you know Then the you know the unit is cursed, and then the owner loses one echo or two echo, whatever.

Jason: That kind of made a little bit more sense, but I think that also like leans more into being a little bit like too powerful at some point. Just you know blasting two attacks at a time, trying to curse people might be a little too much.

Jason: But I think as it stood initially, Courage was just...

m3rcier: Now let's tip

m3rcier: let's test his knowledge. He gave us his favorite unit. What about your favorite spell?

Jason: Oh my god, you guys are putting me on the spot here.

Garrett: Oh, brutal. Brutal. I like it.

Jason: Brutal.

m3rcier: We're not going to ask you about your favorite item because the best item in this pack, I think, is that blade.

Jason: ah um Best spell.

Jason: I probably... out of the whole the the whole four

m3rcier: Yeah, all of the spells.

Nick: Yeah, sure.

m3rcier: So all, what was it?

Jason: Oh, man.

m3rcier: 12 spells then?

Jason: I kind of like Crackling Trap from Conclave.

Nick: Yeah.

m3rcier: Yes.

Jason: i'm I'm weird like that, but yeah, that's gonna...

m3rcier: that That one's going to like, that was definitely going to not win anybody any friends.

Jason: Yeah, especially if you're not expecting it or you don't have something to kind of cancel that channel. but You know, four damage is pretty good. So three inches, obviously, if you're at a point where people are contesting and vying for a husk, you can you can mix things up a little bit with that.

Jason: you know I like other spells too, but I think kind of, you know I hate to say it, but you know I'm not a big Conclave guy. But I like that spell more recently.

m3rcier: This is where I'm going with it. I'm going to land shift that husk into a better opportunity. And then at my first opportunity, I'm going to crackling trap that husk on the hoard that I just put it in the middle of.

Jason: Yeah. fifty Yep.

Jason: Yeah, so it's pretty cool spell.

m3rcier: so

Garrett: Awesome. Well done. You passed. ah Back to the community spotlight. Community spotlight.

Jason: Community spotlight.

Garrett: Thank you. See, you he did it, guys. Gosh.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: All right.

Jason: okay

Nick: That's why he's a community manager.

Garrett: Nick, nick were forgetnna

Nick: That's why.

Jason: That's why i get paid the big bucks.

Nick: that's

Jason: Yeah. right

Garrett: we're we're going to talk about the Critical Graze podcast. Now, it's listen, it's hosts? Debatable. I don't know. I'm just kidding. I love them.

m3rcier: Thank you.

Jason: That's.

Garrett: I love them.

Jason: That's

Nick: we've We've done those guys for a long time.

Garrett: ah Bodian and Ethan?

Jason: Bodhi right.

Nick: And Ethan.

Jason: Yep.

Garrett: i don't know I don't know Ethan as well, but I know

Nick: Oden and Ethan. Yeah.

Garrett: I know Bodie really well. All right, Nick, take it away.

Nick: Yeah. So a Critical Grace podcast. so two Two guys that are, they're great. They're they're funny. They're witty. Their podcast is kind of a counterpart to ours. They talk more about competitive deck building and list building and kind of where the meta is at and how it's shifting.

Nick: I guarantee they're going to do a sister episode to this where they're going to talk about the reinforcement packs and deck building. yeah We're kind of stepping in there, Tori, with this episode.

Garrett: They're gonna talk a lot longer. a lot, lot, lot longer.

Nick: Yes. A while longer.

m3rcier: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Nick: Yep. ah Most people, yeah know you're tuning into our podcast because you want to hear us talk about like you know our favorite faction and ah favorite house of the Court of Whispers and not necessarily how to build a Grisa deck, but Yeah, so they've got, at as of right now, they've got eight episodes released. They're on YouTube and I believe Spotify.

Nick: I've only listened on YouTube, so I'm less informed. But yeah, they they're great. If you really want to get into the meta building, ah go check out Critical Grays.

Garrett: Nice. All right. Next, Alan, tournaments, events.

m3rcier: Spotlight. Yep, tournaments. We got five. So we got Tacticon, Denver, Colorado, August 29th and 30th. Harold Ogrekin.

m3rcier: He is going to have an Allegiance and a Clash tournament. So two tournaments there. Tournament of the Everlasting at Pandemonium Games in Michigan on August 29th. Harold Matt, or Nurgle Painting on Discord.

m3rcier: That is the Clash event. tournament at the forge in chaska minnesota september 19th harold kvilja again clash warzone houston september 26th this is my clash event in houston and then the first conclave tournament september 5th harold toxic spunk clash and that is in the new york new jersey philly delaware area yeah are you going to be there

Jason: It's in my hometown.

Jason: I am. So September 5th, I will be at Top Deck Games in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

Nick: Ooh.

Jason: As mentioned, Toxic Mike, our Herald, in the New Jersey area is holding that little tournament. So I'm going to make a little you know guest appearance, if you will, because it's about an hour and 45 minute ride for me. So nothing too crazy. I told him, I say, hey, if you do do it, just give me a little bit of heads up, um preferably on a Saturday, because know I do a lot of other stuff, obviously, on the weekend. But So yeah, I'm going to drive up there and hang out with him for the day and meet the Top Deck crew again. I did meet them at Pax Unplugged the previous year. Jen, and I believe his name was Chris, the owner at one point.

Jason: ah you know, mingle around a little bit more with the community there and kind of, you know, just be a little bit present. I'm also going to be in Utah. So October 2nd through the 4th, the Game Grid Open is happening in Utah. A few of our heralds, Jason, Greyhawk,

Jason: Miguel Manevault is kind of being there in representation of Malediction, I think. So they're going have like a booth set up for their store and stuff. They're doing Malediction demos as well. I'm going to be there during that event as well to kind of just have my presence, you know, be there and and say hello to everyone. And again, kind of get more involved with the the in-person community stuff, which will be great.

m3rcier: Yeah, is that one of the Heralds that does the, I can't remember, deleted it because I didn't know who the Herald was. There's a ah Wednesday night, I think, or Tuesday night event in somewhere in Utah.

m3rcier: I couldn't find Herald, so I didn't bring it up because i didn't know all the details. so

Jason: probably him um gray hawk is his name then we have meg as well i know they kind of work in tandem so i believe they do you know local stuff as well game grid and mana vault a bunch of other things so utah and texas man i'm telling you that's uh it's a territorial fight you know to see who uh who holds it down you guys

m3rcier: we had a We had the Heralds from New Mexico and the Oklahoma crew at LSO. so we had all we lacked was our Arkansas counterparts to make it our counterparts.

Jason: okay yeah it's it's been great you know i'm kind of stealing your your time here but you know the community spotlight stuff it's been really good to see um you know the growth of malediction and you know you guys have your podcast bode's got his podcast we have the toxic spunk he's made his own little um you know website podcasting even i think and obviously you know seekers of the malediction pat and zach Bruno, Maldick, it's great. You know, it's it was a rough a little rough start, I think more so because GameFound, you know, you you had to really be looking for the game through GameFound to find it.

Jason: But once we really started hitting the convention circuit of Adepticon and everything else, the the growth kind of started occurring more rapidly and and largely. So it's been great.

m3rcier: And I think like Gen Con, right after Depticon, our online tournament had, I think, 32 people.

Jason: Couldn't ask for better, yeah.

Jason: Mm-hmm.

m3rcier: We're at 24 for the online tournament for this month, right after Gen Con. So the more of these big events we can be at, I think it's just going to exponentially allow us to grow.

Garrett: And they got a good release schedule. Got the reinforcements coming, more stuff coming this winter, possibly.

m3rcier: Yeah.

Nick: Mm-hmm.

Jason: Yeah, a lot of good changes. Reinforcement packs, new seekers, the new platform, right? New deck builder, new event kind of thing. The achievements, all kinds of good stuff.

m3rcier: The kits.

Jason: Yeah, which will be cool. And the kits too. Yep. the Organized kits that we have for original. And then we'll have a different version that I know of, but I won't spoil anything yet for anyone. So.

Garrett: Nice. Okay, guys. Well, that's it for this episode. Any parting knowledge you need to part with,

Garrett: going to take that as a no. In that case, I've been Garrett.

Nick: This has been Nick.

m3rcier: I've been Alan.

Jason: I'm always Jason.

Garrett: Nice. You did a good job. All right. Goodbye, everybody.

Nick: Thank you for joining us tonight, Jason.

m3rcier: Goodbye.

Jason: See ya. Yeah, no problem.
