Harry Mitsidis is a renowned global traveler and the founder of NomadMania, a unique online platform and community for dedicated explorers. Born in 1972 in London to a Greek father and a South African mother, Mitsidis grew up in Athens, Greece, with an early exposure to multiculturalism that sparked his lifelong passion for travel. He studied sociology in Greece and at the University of Oxford, later earning an MBA in the Netherlands, and worked as a lecturer in sociology and business across four countries. However, his love for exploration eventually overtook his academic career, leading him to pursue travel full-time.
By age 36, Mitsidis had achieved a remarkable feat: visiting all 193 United Nations-recognized countries, with Equatorial Guinea as his final stop in March 2008. But for him, ticking off countries wasn’t enough. Seeking a deeper way to explore and understand the world, he founded NomadMania (initially launched as "The Best Travelled" in 2012 before rebranding in 2017). The platform redefines systematic travel by dividing the world into 1,301 distinct regions—far beyond just countries—based on factors like territory, population, diversity, economy, and tourist appeal. Mitsidis himself has visited over 1,200 of these regions, making him the top-ranked traveler on NomadMania’s leaderboard.
