WWF Champion Triple H defends against Chris Jericho, and in a huge shock Chris Jericho defeats The Game. Afterwards, Triple H forces referee Earl Hebner to reverse the decision, Earl agrees, and Triple H lays out Earl with a Pedigree and fires him. WWF European Champion Eddie Guerrero studies for a test.

Linda McMahon arrives with a huge announcement to make. The Hardy Boyz challenge the team of Essa Rios and WWF European Champion Eddie Guerrero. WWF Hardcore Champion Crash Holly defends against Perry Saturn and ECW Champion Tazz, however, Hardcore Holly gets involved. 

Linda McMahon announces that at WWF Backlash Stone Cold Steve Austin will be in The Rock’s corner when he faces WWF Champion Triple H. WWF Women’s Champion Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley is upset and goes after Linda, but Linda slaps her daughter which causes Triple-H and Shane McMahon to brawl. Al Snow and Steve Blackman battle The Dudley Boyz. Afterwards, Bubba tries to put Trish Stratus through a table, but Trish makes out with Bubba. Big Show and Kurt Angle attract fans backstage.

WWF Light Heavyweight Champion Dean Malenko defends against Scotty 2 Hotty. WWF Intercontinental Champion Chris Benoit defends against The Big Show. Afterwards, Angle attacks Big Show. WWF Tag Champions Edge and Christian battle Big Boss Man and Bull Buchanan. Afterwards, Kane returns and takes out Bull. DX attack Edge and Christian backstage. And in the main event WWF Champion Triple H and DX take on Chris Jericho and The Acolytes!
