Michelle Parker vanished on November 17, 2011 — the same day she and her ex-fiancé Dale Smith Jr. appeared on an episode of The People’s Court, fighting over an engagement ring. Fifteen years later, he’s been arrested.
On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, Orlando police arrested Smith at his workplace and charged him with second-degree murder in Parker’s presumed death. Chief Eric Smith said the break came from a re-examined case file and advances in digital forensics — more detailed location data, communications between devices, and years of depositions in which investigators say Smith gave different answers to the same questions. Michelle’s body has never been found.
In this episode we break down the full timeline: the People’s Court taping, the twins she dropped off that morning, the black Hummer H3 caught on a red-light camera that night less than a mile from where it was recovered, and the 15-year gap between the disappearance and the arrest. State Attorney Monique Worrell has said the charge could be escalated as the evidence develops. Michelle’s mother, Yvonne Stewart, called the arrest an enormously emotional moment.
Smith has denied involvement since 2011. He is charged, not convicted, and is presumed innocent.
