Tristan Amundson: Miles. I'll admit it. I was feeling pretty high on the hog there for a while. i I kept looking at those 12 wins. I kept looking at.
Tristan Amundson: Us as a conquering army that was just going to go to every city. and destroy. the competition. i It seemed as though we were bulletproof.
Tristan Amundson: And. the commanders. Well...
Tristan Amundson: They commanded their army better. and the Seahawks on Sunday. Um, demoralized no i wouldn't go that far miles thanks for asking uh But I am a little sad. i am I need a little bit of a pick -me -up.
Tristan Amundson: We're starting it. at ground zero here miles it's One, you know, coach tell tells us we got to stack those wins. I think it's time. We we just got to. We got to start stacking, but we're stacking.
Tristan Amundson: at the ground level. How are you doing, my friend?
M dub: Tristan, it's good to be with you even though we are talking about a loss today. In the midst of everything, this is an embarrassing loss in the middle of of the NFL. I know anything can happen on any given Sunday. This felt embarrassing in a lot of ways.
M dub: I do want to credit the Seahawks though for making this feeling. of a loss feel so foreign, I'm seeing Washington has a lot of wide receivers who who really like to to dance it up after a first down, after a touchdown.
M dub: And it fell. It had felt... It felt bad. it's and it felt i didn't know what to do with it i kind of forgot that uh a loss is kind of uh, A normal thing that happens as you follow an NFL team and see the opponent dance around is pretty normal. It felt shocking. It felt uncomfortable. And I didn't know what to do with it. So.
M dub: A lot of things went wrong in this game. We'll get into it. but credit to the sea what a ride it was from making that feeling feel So... foreign.
Tristan Amundson: Yeah, no, absolutely. i mean it's it's why we talked about before, you got to enjoy it while you have it, right? Because you're not always going to have it. And um so no more prescient opportunity to take those words into account. now that yeah it's we're stepping into the next phase and and now we we start to rebuild so um Yeah, man. Interesting game. ah Do you want to give us maybe the recap? um and then we can kind of dig into to what we saw on this one.
M dub: Yeah, let's do it. ah A lot happened in this game. I personally, yeah. So the so the commanders end up winning this game 33 to 31. It was a very compelling game. A lot of big plays. We won't have time to get to them all.
M dub: Things get started with Jadarian Price fumbling the ball only 20 yards away from the end zone. Washington recovers. ah brings it home to take a 7 -0 lead. And Washington kind of had just has a lead the rest of the game, despite an explosion of scoring back and forth. There was way more scoring. As the game went on.
M dub: Looked like the Seahawks were coming back when Sam Darnold dishes out a pick six to a player playing his first ever defensive snaps.
Tristan Amundson: places
M dub: in the NFL It felt like it was all over. The Seahawks still stormed back on an unbelievable two -minute drill to take this thing down to the final seconds.
Tristan Amundson: it sixty
M dub: And Washington eventually does escape with that 33 -31 win. So much went right.
Tristan Amundson: get see through
M dub: So much went wrong. So so many touchdowns being scored.
Tristan Amundson: exhibit explod
M dub: ah' it's It's kind of a blur to me, honestly.
Tristan Amundson: you different thank you
M dub: You couldn't say it felt like a playoff game, but it... it It was still a blur of scoring and big plays, just like those Rams games were last year.
Tristan Amundson: see
Tristan Amundson: Yeah, you know that's a good way to describe it. We were talking before the the... podcast we have our our notes for these games and i was struggling with my notes on this one even after listening to the press conferences and and looking through the the box scores and whatnot just because it it was i guess kind of a blur of a game um and And I guess maybe it's the nature of fumbles. I'm i'm kind of thinking about this for the first time. so
Tristan Amundson: I don't know. Feel free to tell me I'm an idiot here, but maybe the nature of fumbles just kind of discombobulates a game and and takes some of that rhythm away. I don't know if that's correct or not, but... i really agree with you it it is kind of a blurry game even to remember even though to your point
Tristan Amundson: plenty of like good things in this game. In fact, there's a couple of of pieces I'm really happy to see um and progress. But yeah, it is, I think maybe the fumbles. make a game a little blurrier than a typical game with like its cadence going back and forth, or at least when you're doing the fumbling.
M dub: Yeah, and I think with the with how it happened in the game, first quarter. it just kind of gave Washington the upper hand. And I feel like Washington... And I felt the same way about the New York Giants as well. The little bit I've seen of the Giants, another team that's on the schedule later in the year.
M dub: I feel like Washington and New York have the personalities where they are going to have a really loud six or seven win season. Like when they win a game, they're going to make you feel like they're.
M dub: Storming into the playoffs.
Tristan Amundson: Yeah.
M dub: They're unstoppable, but I don't think either of those teams can. keep it up for the entire year in the way that I think the Seahawks will. but Man, when they win a game, they'll let you know about it, and it'll it'll feel pretty dominant. and um Yeah that's what I was kind of thinking about this one.
Tristan Amundson: Yeah, no, I think i think that's that's probably... That's probably true. I mean, man, one thing. I don't know about you. um ah For me, this was kind of a walk down memory lane. Marcus Mariota.
Tristan Amundson: you know organ product i just remember him as a kid in college and I guess, I don't know. anyone to listen right now i just thought it was kind of fun like Seeing him now, like his... Like that first shot of him on the sidelines, you see kind of his gray hair, like he's got some gray hairs on him.
Tristan Amundson: and um it makes me feel a little better about having some gray hairs on me i think because i'm looking at him and i'm like well i remember when he was in college it wasn't that long ago and he was such a fun dynamic player i mean admittedly he's always been a player i've always liked he seems like a nice guy he seems I mean...
Tristan Amundson: I think. You don't. You don't stick around in the NFL as long as he has just on talent as a backup. I think you you have to bring a lot of other things to the table. They they talked about in the beginning of the broadcast.
Tristan Amundson: that he um the team basically said like he needs to be a captain like he he deserves to be one of our captains so You know, I don't know. Human story, I guess I can't help myself. it It was fun to see Marcus. I mean, I absolutely wish that he lost on Sunday.
Tristan Amundson: um But that said. you know it's He is a fun player to watch, and he has been a fun player to watch for the last... I'm trying to think. I think he was drafted 11 years ago. So I suppose I've been watching this this kid play for like 15 years, which is kind of funny to think about. um And he's definitely not a kid anymore. He's got those gray hairs on him. and um He had a heck of a game. I mean, you know.
Tristan Amundson: what What would Coach Pete always talk to us about? you You got to protect the ball. And Marcus did a great job of not putting the ball in harm's way.
M dub: Yeah, he did. And I guess the one one of the plays that does stick out is so ah seattle towards the very end of the game, Seattle has this very quick drive for a touchdown, which I'd like to talk about more later. but Washington gets the ball back. They're only up two.
M dub: uh because they missed the extra point because of a ah pretty senseless kind of team celebration penalty. So field goal wins it for Seattle. Washington is just trying to hold on to the ball.
M dub: They iced the game with these two run plays, which was just... shocking. They were pretty brilliant offensive calls.
Tristan Amundson: Yeah.
M dub: First one was by Rashad White, who, funny enough, was with the Buccaneers last year when they beat Seattle in week five. So this guy's like, what's the big deal about the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks? I beat them everywhere I go.
M dub: First one was Rashad White. Last one to totally ice the game and kneel it out. was Marcus Mariota, gray hairs and all, getting it done on a designed run. That was...
M dub: That was difficult.
Tristan Amundson: It was gorgeous.
M dub: It was beautiful play that was difficult to watch.
Tristan Amundson: Yeah.
M dub: It was, it was, I couldn't, it was. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
Tristan Amundson: Yeah, that felt... at least to me, a little bit like Russ back in the day, like one of those daggers that like, we're going to kill you with this one play and we're just going to beat you in a way you didn't expect. I mean, I'll tell you what, man, it's I'm glad you bring that one up.
Tristan Amundson: It was interesting to see. We bet on that. I mean, you if you want to if you wanted to give someone the definition of what does it mean when a defense bites on a play. and takes it hook, line, and sinker.
Tristan Amundson: That's what. We watched, I mean, everyone. That was a really, really good fake handoff. I mean... Marcus did that, like, master level.
Tristan Amundson: hand the ball, bring it back to yourself. and and you know get the edge and take care of it and by the way obviously We've been talking about, it's not as though Marcus Mariota is, ah what, 20 years old. This is a guy in his, you know, what, he must be mid -30s.
Tristan Amundson: He still had plenty of juice in those legs, got around the corner. um But it really started with that really great play fake. And um I bid on it too. It looked like absolutely that was going to. um Going to the running back and...
Tristan Amundson: If it would have gone to the running back, man, we would ah we would have really tackled that guy. but
M dub: it was It was the same thing with the Rashad White run.
Tristan Amundson: Yeah.
M dub: the The Seahawks were totally sold out on the Blitz, and it it was a pretty... ah David Blau, that why that commander's offensive coordinator, only 31 years old himself. Just had the brilliant idea to let let's run this outside. and Gosh, you know.
M dub: Seahawks defending the running game still gets like an A. I guess you can't give an A -plus after those two, but up until then, it was totally bottled up. And yeah, I can't believe that that runs worked to ice this game out.
Tristan Amundson: Yeah. Yeah, man, that was that was rough. So I will say, and I think maybe this is a good time for me to say this. um Because, I mean, we just talked about two pretty demoralizing plays. And frankly, Marcus Moriota's play in general. mario display in general like um pretty demoralizing for us.
Tristan Amundson: yeah Something that stood out to me from listening to Coach in his press conferences that that I really agree with. The team played together the whole time. Like that there was never a letdown. There was never a.
Tristan Amundson: ho -hum, you know we're going to lose this game. We made lots of mistakes. there was This was not a clean game for the Seahawks. There's a lot to learn from. There's a lot that that we need to clean up.
Tristan Amundson: One thing we don't need to clean up is the teams. kind of connective tissue and interconnection and working together. um And I felt like you could you could feel that the whole time of...
Tristan Amundson: Okay, I'm going to pick you up. Okay, you made a mistake. We got your back. like You never had that feeling. When the rookie you know fumbles the football, you never had the feeling of like the defense is scowling at him and you know shaking their head or anything like that. It's just...
Tristan Amundson: okay, here we go. like when when Sam threw that um pick six, right? It's like, okay, we're back on the field. Let's get let's get to work. and um And then vice versa when you know when Sam went down the field for that final drive and just was hitting JSN everywhere. Um, you you kind of felt the... um what's What's another word for it? i'm I'm kind of just thinking about the interconnective nature of this team. um They really played together.
M dub: Chutzpah? Is that the word you were looking for?
Tristan Amundson: That's not the word I was looking for. I was thinking more of like symbiotic actually is what I was looking for. um Just a symbiotic nature of of these two units playing together, you know?
M dub: I think that's a really good point. I... think So a lot of great plays happened in this game, but I immediately kind of zoomed out in my mind to what's going to matter. From this in December in January and there was a ah large number of things that I wasn't really concerned about So even even though the Commanders put up 33 points on the board with their backup quarterback.
M dub: Because of the fumbles, believe it or not, in this entire game, Washington had just one drive longer than 50 yards. So despite... 33 points on the board.
Tristan Amundson: um
M dub: I do think this defense. played extremely well. Just one drive longer than 50 yards and the total yardage situation. Seattle 437. Washington, 258. So that is that. I mean, so some some wonky stuff was happening in the broadcast showed at one point that.
M dub: This was the first time Washington got 21 points off of a turnover since the year 2005. So the Seahawks have been to four Super Bowls since then. so this type of situation getting that many points off turnovers is More rare than a Super Bowl appearance, pretty much. It was it was a very lightning strike situation.
M dub: And. Although I am concerned about some things, I do want us to scratch off. of the things I'm concerned about. I wasn't concerned about the defense despite the number of points getting scored.
M dub: Did you feel the same way?
Tristan Amundson: Yeah, no. i So first of all, that's a really great stat um that we didn't give up any major. major drives in the course of this game. that's That's something I didn't i didn't fully comprehend.
Tristan Amundson: I also... I, I. Hold on, I need a coffee real quick, Miles. Can you um keep the people entertained as I put my mic on mute?
M dub: Let me keep the people entertained here. Another thing that I wasn't concerned about was Sam Darnold. And I know it's going to be pretty easy to clip this pick six, which which I think we'll talk about in a moment.
M dub: Pick six when you're trying to come back in the fourth quarter of a game. It's not good, but there was something about the nature of that play where I didn't. I wasn't. It was a mistake, but I wasn't losing trust in Sam. I didn't feel like.
Tristan Amundson: Yeah.
M dub: I wasn't, again, when I'm thinking about December and January, that play didn't make me concerned about what was going to happen. Instead, actually...
M dub: as that fourth quarter was going on, my main thought was. Since Sam Darnold has arrived here in 2025. The Seahawks have been ahead in so many games.
M dub: We have almost never needed to see him in a two -minute drill situation. It was a little bit of a foreign look, actually. And I do want to point out that, and I know i feel so silly.
M dub: Talking about this with a pick six in the middle. But I still think that his performance in these situations is is really outstanding. so He throws the pick six. In my mind,
M dub: I go. Game is over. that That was it. There's like three minutes left. But as you mentioned, the connected the symbiosis of this team was so strong. They come right back on the field, have a seven -play drive for 68 yards to score a touchdown in just one minute and six seconds.
M dub: That is. Absolutely. Dealing. the football and we saw jsn got in a rhythm where um i mean the the defense was on skates the
Tristan Amundson: Yeah.
M dub: the The... The... The process, the mental thinking, the processing. Sam and JSN were so far ahead of the Washington defense. They were doing whatever they wanted.
M dub: I went and looked back. What are the times that Sam has been down by multiple possessions in a football game as a member of the Seahawks? I think I got them all. there's only This was only number four.
M dub: I've got this game The two games against the regular season games against the Rams last year. The playoff game, the Seahawks were ahead against the Rams last year. And ah the one I mentioned against Tampa Bay in 2025, I think those are the only situations the Seahawks have been down by multiple scores.
M dub: At all. Seahawks have a 1 -3 record in those games. They brought it all the way back against the Rams last December. So to actually pull out a win there. It's pretty good. And in those four games, Sam Darnold is averaging 317 yards. He's shown that.
M dub: when When? When... When the team is down... he can pass the team back into the game. so i' um Am I on a way Homer Island here by looking at all the positives of Sam Darnold's play when he has ah a fourth quarter pick six?
Tristan Amundson: No, man. i Listen. First of all, you you said it perfectly. And something you said that I want to emphasize is the connection between Sam and JSN, which.
Tristan Amundson: It's a storyline I haven't really thought about that much going into this year. I've thought a lot about new offensive coordinator. I haven't thought a lot about the fact that we're now getting a chance to see these two players.
Tristan Amundson: in year two together right so now they they have. ah They've already had a good year. And now they can build off of it. I think that's actually really interesting. point and maybe kind of shows why.
Tristan Amundson: We all know that JSN probably has like one extra level of of greatness in him, even though he just had one of the great seasons of all time. like he's so supremely talented and hardworking and just all the things that um That, yeah, that like getting to see these guys in year two is really interesting. We can be encouraged by the fact that, yeah, these guys can like punch back. and Um,
Tristan Amundson: and do something pretty spectacular, I think. as a team that wants to run the football the way we want to. And that's another thing we should probably talk about is the lack thereof in this game. but If that's a calling card of the Seattle Seahawks, the fact that we can also...
Tristan Amundson: absolutely tear the top off of the defense if we want to with some really good, like some great talent in our wide receiving core. um obviously highlighted by JSN, is ah is a really important piece to that. So no, I don't i don't think that's Homerific at all.
Tristan Amundson: That pick six is interesting that Sam... gave up because Like to me. It's one of those where Like. like The play wasn't going to work. and like i mean They mentioned on the broadcast that what he did had worked in the past. but Man, it it does seem like one of those like...
Tristan Amundson: That felt like a throw it at his feet moment. I don't know about you. That just kind of felt like a... Alright, this play broke down. I know we want to keep competing, but let's just toss it at the guy's feet and call her a day. And, you know, I mean, easy for me to say on a... on a Was it? Tuesday today. Bye.
Tristan Amundson: I don't know, i you know, that like that. I think maybe that's one piece of his game that he got better and better at last year that he's going to need to like remember, which is... This defense is awesome.
Tristan Amundson: let's not turn the ball over. Like, you know, a pick like that really kills you. The first pick, I'm not worried about at all. I think we could kind of. almost just write that one off. That was kind of a fluky one. um That... The pick six is a tough one because...
Tristan Amundson: it felt like he was forcing the issue, if that makes sense. And so i that would be kind of my only... thought on on the two turnovers from sam Um, It's funny because all three turn up. All three are very different kinds of turnovers, aren't they? like They're all very different like different flavors of of totally different problems.
Tristan Amundson: Um, And so i maybe that does speak to what you started this segment with before my throat decided to give me an issue. um Little tickle, by the way, in the back of the throw, Miles. um But maybe that's what it... you know when you talk about you know kind of lightning hit a submarine there a little bit Um,
Tristan Amundson: It's not like this was the same bad decision, like three picks that, you know, man, why are you sailing the ball out into the middle of nowhere and getting the the ball picked, Sam? or you know, three times where... The running back is just you know coughing it up.
Tristan Amundson: All three picks were very different versions of ah of a turnover, if that makes sense, which maybe pretends, again, to to good things moving forward. that we don't have like one big outlier problem it's just you know Sometimes these things just happen for for three different reasons.
M dub: You know, with the pick six, I actually, as that. As the ball leaves his hands and it's in midair, I didn't have the feeling the ball was in danger at all. and and with the The Washington linebacker intercepted it. I was... I was puzzled how he got there personally. And maybe that's just me misreading it, but...
M dub: and you You know, he's going for the check down. Really, that's not really... um Yeah, I think there was an issue with... You know, that that play kind of always goes.
M dub: into the the the offensive right. or the play was going into the offensive right, and I kind of feel like the linebacker, I don't know.
Tristan Amundson: age
M dub: it it It didn't seem like it was a big force to me.
Tristan Amundson: Yeah. Yeah, interesting. yeah i I mean, I don't know a ton about well I mean, it's it's funny. Greg Olson, he mentioned that, that like that was a play that that he's seen him... you know checked down before and like that's worked really well in those formations i i can't say that i That level um of expertise.
Tristan Amundson: Um, But yeah, that like that was an interesting... um That was an interesting piece of it. that ah that Then I noticed that, I don't know, it's... it To me, it felt a bit like a force. but um Should we talk about the running game here a little bit? I feel like that's another big piece of of this equation in this loss, man. like Obviously, this is a team.
Tristan Amundson: we want to play really good fundamental football and that means running the football um Fumbles aside. you know We really did not. get off the ground. No running back did in just running, running the ball. um I didn't get to hear coaches' like deeper analysis about what they think went wrong in the running game this week. but Um,
Tristan Amundson: that's a big deal i mean not being able to run the rock it's a big part of what we need to do
M dub: Yeah, we've been pretty positive so far here. But when when I do think about December and January football and and what needs to happen in order to win those games. At this moment, i I am very concerned about the run game. I.
M dub: you i think the the fumble the the jedarian price fumble in my mind is the most important turnover uh because it just kind of gave washington to the edge and when we get to that pick six you know we kind of have to be in past first mode in order to catch up to the game So Jadarian Price, it's been 28 carries so far and in two fumbles.
M dub: Both of them end up being lost, which that can be a 50 -50 thing. but Two fumbles and 28 carries. That that. that just can't happen in the NFL. Unfortunately, those, those are the cold hard numbers that just can't happen.
M dub: I think the team will... We'll know how to proceed internally. I'm not sure about the solution from the outside. That's where, you know, that's where your years, they're running bad. Max Coach wisdom has to come out because.
M dub: Those are difficult numbers. Some more difficult ones here. Total as a unit was 17 carries for 39 yards. That's not really good. I will say George Helani did make up for it with ah a lot of great pass catching, especially in the second half out of out of the running back position.
Tristan Amundson: So just.
Tristan Amundson: Yep.
M dub: And then Emmanuel Wilson, I know, is really high on this guy. the The pro football reference success rate based on down and distance. He was 59 .1 % in his years with the Packers overall. It's only been 40 .6 % here with Seattle. That's pretty much the difference between best in the league to one of the worst in the league. so Kind of wish, I'm not sure with it what.
M dub: has Has changed their... because I really thought he was going to be a ah great chains mover. I will say, despite... That unbelievable amount of great things that was happening with Brian Fleury on the offense.
M dub: It did feel like the Seahawks were just throwing away first and 10 with a run. that Washington saw coming. We saw this offensive line provide great pass protection. And they were usually losing the line of scrimmage in the run game.
M dub: I kind of felt like it was because the run was coming in a very predictable spot more often than not.
Tristan Amundson: Yeah, no, I think that's interesting. i'm I'm looking up the expected points right now because I was just curious as we're talking through it, um kind of different situational things. um Man, this game gets more muddy the more numbers you look. And and I think that's why I like this game. We really just have to be like...
Tristan Amundson: like Turnovers are the reason, right? like When your team turns the ball over. you're the best in the world. And it's like, man, like, look, what look we forced a turnover. When you give up turnovers like this, it's kind of easy to be like...
Tristan Amundson: Well, we would have won if it wasn't for all the turnovers. They're kind of an outlier. you know its it's ah It's a great double -edged sword conversation. Expected points, though. I don't know if you've looked at these yet, Miles. um Seahawks.
Tristan Amundson: I mean, it's kind of what you'd expect, passing. Expected points and from our passing game, 10 points. template call it 10 .7 Commanders, 9 .75. So they they did pretty good from a passing perspective.
Tristan Amundson: rushing. Both teams struggled. where they struggled a little bit more, um negative. 8 .6 expected points from the Commanders. um Negative 8.
Tristan Amundson: Point 18. expected points from the Seahawks so kind of an interesting thing both ah you know to to the point basically both running games sucked for both teams or you can look at the other way both defenses obviously had those exact same numbers in reverse like positively against the run. um and And the past defenses, obviously, both were were struggling. So it's it's an interesting kind of... looking at this, but the the big number. And.
Tristan Amundson: Like this is it. Expected points off of turnovers. Seahawks negative. 16 .68. commanders zero right so i mean it really is like that the the numbers are mirror images of each other Both passing games, pretty good. Both running games, pretty bad.
Tristan Amundson: Um, Turnovers. six I mean... Sixties. They call it 17 points. There's your freaking ball game. um And so you know it's it's kind of funny.
Tristan Amundson: It really is that simple of a game, I think. um If you kind of put everything away. Like, that's that's the game. And it's kind of one of those, like... we got to take our medicine we can't just say well if if we didn't turn the ball over like you know this would have been fine like it's i feel like it's one of those games you just got to give the other team credit they they created turnover -worthy plays. They were being aggressive.
M dub: They did create turnover -worthy plays. And what i what I'm taking from those expected points is... the The Seattle defensive line, well, there was the one Washington run that broke free, but they...
M dub: They got called on the procedural penalty.
Tristan Amundson: Yep.
M dub: um that was That was really shocking to see. You just don't see those big plays break free against the Seattle defense. but As good as the Seattle defensive line is at stopping the run, as dominant as they are.
M dub: That's also how good Washington looked stopping our running attack. And so that's we we know how the Seattle defensive line turns off the opponent's running game each and every week.
Tristan Amundson: Yeah.
M dub: And it didn't feel good to have that happen to the Seahawks. It was enough to make me think about. ah Like. I think, John, and the team in the front office, you're you're thinking about...
M dub: I think this was a big enough red flag. you you're You're at least looking. Do we need to make a move before the trade deadline? That's what's really going to be evaluated in the next couple weeks. I mean, I think it was that that difficult of a situation.
Tristan Amundson: Are you talking about like... um like getting getting some more pass rush help? Is that what you're? You're you're saying?
M dub: ah Like ah acquiring a running back at the trade deadline. like the i't I don't think the calls are going out this week, but they are thinking about who to call this week, I think, is is the situation.
Tristan Amundson: Oh, I see. Okay, gotcha. Yeah.
Tristan Amundson: Interesting. Yeah. I mean, what's funny, I was kind of thinking about it, like the splits between Christian Hayes and Bo Stevens. like I'm curious, and we I don't think we'll know this. I don't think Coach will reveal it this week.
Tristan Amundson: um Christian Hayes. Hey, man, you know me and my snap counts. Here you go. Christian Hayes, 60 % of the snaps. um Bo Stevens, 40%. So, I mean, that's pretty doggone good split, right? I mean, you're kind of getting... a lot of data from both guys. I'd be curious to know.
Tristan Amundson: um who stood out and who had a better impact in the running game and and who was at least serviceable in the past game. I'm not going to pretend I've... dug into the film. And I know everything about that, but, um,
Tristan Amundson: Yeah, I mean, yeah eventually you probably want one of those guys taking the job. Um, between k Christian and Bo. I don't know if you have an opinion on that, but... But that could be a big you know a big deal, getting the the correct guard there on the right side. um That said, we had all the other starters in, you know, so so maybe I'm... um conflating something that you know isn't that big of a deal. I'm not sure.
M dub: Yeah, well, I mean, Anthony Bradford goes on IR this week. So his injured reserve four week clock starts. I, you know. The... there's this this rotation will be happening for the next couple weeks also which is not ideal
Tristan Amundson: Yeah, unless one of them just just takes the takes the job. um Can I give you maybe a little bit of encouragement, Miles? Something that I was really happy about? Well, I already told you, a team playing together, happy about that.
Tristan Amundson: Dude, here's another one though, because... Add this into the equation of of potentially how good of a year sam darnold could have I thought Torrey Horton looked really good. It was very nice to see him active in a game. And when I say active, I mean like contributing and and you could kind of feel his presence and his kind of special gifts. um You know.
Tristan Amundson: I'm sure I don't. I was going to say need I remind you. but i I feel like that'd be a really dumb thing to say to you because I don't need to remind you. We haven't seen. This. version of the Seahawks wide receiver group, Torrey and Rasheed.
Tristan Amundson: and Cup, and JSN all together. um Specifically. Tory and Rashid on the field at the same time with JSN. Pretty interesting, pretty exciting, if we just think about the impact that Torrey had in, what, eight or nine games last year.
Tristan Amundson: This is a ah connection I'm excited to see grow throughout the year.
M dub: It is exciting, and andm I'm still hoping that, you know, Rasheed hasn't been quite as involved as as I was hoping, especially in the deep game. But. but Yeah, we haven't had Torrey Horton on the field healthy with him. Torrey scored a lot of touchdowns last year in his rookie year.
M dub: Yeah, something something to look forward to.
Tristan Amundson: I was very happy to see that, happy to to kind of see that growth. um in general. Here's another one that I thought was kind of interesting. and I'm just looking at the SnapCount numbers.
Tristan Amundson: if I don't know if you've looked at this or not. so um So tell me if you have, but. If I told you like Riley Mills snap count, would you say you you noticed Riley on the field a lot or a little in the game?
M dub: I'm going to guess he had 15 snaps.
Tristan Amundson: ah did Do you... Did that just really happen? Like, do yeah did you know that, Miles? Are you cheating?
M dub: I didn't know that. i was just That was just a feeling.
Tristan Amundson: That's unbelievable. Yeah, he had 15 snaps. He had 22%. My takeaway from him a little bit was I felt like he was on the field a lot more. and It might have just been when I was you know deeply watching the game.
Tristan Amundson: um he was He was just you know playing and and and on the field and whatnot. But... Man, i it's it seemed to me like I was expecting his snap count to be closer to 30 or 40 % just based off of... how much I was noticing him. um I think that's a great development as well. I mean, Riley Mills continuing to grow in his.
Tristan Amundson: It's kind of hard to call this his second year, you know, when you talk about the big second year jump for players. This is almost like year one and a half for him or maybe less, right? He didn't get a chance to play a ton last year, but certainly it's more you know certainly it's not like this is his rookie year. he He's had some experience in the NFL. um Kind of excited to see if his numbers continue to increase. And that rotation gets more and more dangerous because I do think.
Tristan Amundson: He's one of those guys. He's one of those steals in the draft we got because... um you know he was injured the year before so kind of a fun one
M dub: Tristan, can I close this out saying farewell to this winning streak? The broadcast had a fantastic stat. that Coach Mack, it's the third time a coach under 40 years old had a winning streak of 12 games or more.
M dub: Number one was George Hallis back in 1933, 34. George Hallis was the NFL champion in 1921, 33, 1940, 1941, 1946, and 1963.
M dub: he went basically from the depression and the dust bowl to Rock and roll. He won the NFL championships 40 years apart. The only other guy to do it, Guy Chamberlain back in 1922, 1923.
M dub: We all remember those Canton Bulldogs teams. But I'm calling BS on this one because there's three ties in the middle, including some 0 -0 ties. That's not a winning streak.
M dub: That's soccer stuff. That's that's a not losing streak.
Tristan Amundson: That's true.
M dub: I think Coach Mack is really just the second guy to ever do this. What a winning streak. what What a historic thing that we saw.
Tristan Amundson: pretty cool man yeah pretty cool i i like how you mentioned it to end the podcast because Again. we We do have to... acknowledge and enjoy these things and and when you got When you have something special like that, it's great to mention it. So well done. um Well done and well done, coach. you know we're We're lucky to have him. I know that they are going to get right back to work. and um you know come up with a great game plan going into this week.
M dub: Oh, yeah. Up against the Chargers next week. 0 -3 team. I do expect another win here. We'll we'll see what happens. Any given Sunday, we learn that the hard way. But have a lot of confidence in this team going up against the Chargers.
Tristan Amundson: yeah Do you happen to know, sorry to put you on the spot, if it's at home or if it's ah in Los Angeles?
M dub: it's in It's in one of the two.
Tristan Amundson: It is in one of the two. We can confirm that they will be playing either at SoFi. or at Lumen.
M dub: It won't be in Brazil.
Tristan Amundson: Okay, we can we can con confirm this is not a Rio game. um And listen, man, I mean, I think we know that's what the people come for, right? I mean, they they come for kind of that level of detailed information from the podcast, and we're happy to give it to them.
M dub: Absolutely. It's not in England either or Germany. or Or any other foreign soil.
Tristan Amundson: um I'll tell you what, and it could be in any of those places, Miles. And heck, it could be in SoFi. And there's still going to be plenty of people. around that stadium.
Tristan Amundson: whether it's in Seattle or SoFi. and they're gonna be saying something. that warms both of our hearts. Go Hawks.
M dub: Go Hawks.
