Hello and welcome to Eberron Renewed. This is not the full intro for the episode. This is another one of our little introductory scenes that we've been doing with this new campaign to allow you all time to get to know our intrepid band of characters and the people that they interact with. So this week we are going to be talking to Eris. Hello, Philip. Hello, Eric.
00:01:40
Speaker
Um, you know, they have a word for this. It's cold open. Like, yeah, it's just a cold open. Uh, cold opens a lot of time, like relate to the episode in some way, maybe. I don't know. Um, show to show.
00:01:55
Speaker
Anyway, okay, so this week, this is before the Haldan job. So this is during your downtime, probably during the time that you're tinkering with your new glove thing.

Eris Meets Olive de Caneth

00:02:14
Speaker
But you are headed up to the Upper Memphis Plateau on one of your days off from working at the Lucky Nines to go meet up with Olive de Caneth, who is a Caneth heir that has been
00:02:33
Speaker
I don't know if gracious is the right word, but she's somewhat taken you under her wing as both a mentee and a guinea pig at Morgrave University. And she's been the one kind of teaching Eris artifice to a certain extent and helping her hone her skills.
00:02:58
Speaker
So a lot of times when Eris has a big jump in XP and her Artifice skill goes up, it's because she's been spending time with Olive. So yeah, Philip, do you want to...
00:03:11
Speaker
just while in fiction, Eris is headed up there. Do you want to describe Eris' relationship with Olive a bit? Sure. At least as Eris perceives it. First off, does Olive have a title? Is she a professor? Yeah, she's a professor. Okay.
00:03:33
Speaker
I would say that, you know, we really haven't worked out how this came about, how this arrangement was made. But Eris arrived in Sharn knowing a little bit of artifice and looking for an opportunity to learn more, but was not able to even sort of kind of
00:04:01
Speaker
uh, pay for actual above board training. Yeah. Uh, so I think, um, I think she perceives all of, uh, I think she keeps all of a little bit of arms length. I don't think she's someone that she has let in. Um, and I think a lot of times out of habit,
00:04:29
Speaker
Eris falls into treating Olive and talking to Olive as she did her original teacher who taught her initial lessons in artifice. And so I think this is someone that Eris doesn't view as being necessarily close with, at least not on any kind of emotional level, even if this is probably someone who knows
00:04:58
Speaker
At least Eris says she is now pretty well. Yeah. Although Eris does not talk about her back, would not have talked about her background with Olive or what her day job is. Well, she might talk about what her official day job is. Yeah. Fixing machines. It's lucky nights that. That's what her night job is.

Exploring Zendric Artifacts

00:05:18
Speaker
Right. Yeah.
00:05:22
Speaker
OK, and yeah, just we kind of talked before we started recording, but for the sake of the listeners going into this scene, Olive is.
00:05:34
Speaker
Kind of young for a professor at Moore grave. She's around early to mid 30s, human with a distinct dragon mark. She has the lesser mark of making and she's she's shown it to you. And sometimes she wears outfits that show it. It's very much kind of encompassing her her left shoulder kind of wrapped around.
00:05:56
Speaker
And she's she's a very manic individual, very excited by the work that she gets to do every day. And just the biggest nerd when it comes to to especially Zendric artifacts.
00:06:12
Speaker
So, yeah, you you arrive without incident and you walk into her office slash workspace because it is a rather not a large not large in terms of like a warehouse, but it is very much a largest lab, you wouldn't say for terms of space.
00:06:35
Speaker
And you see all of she is strapped into some metal piping that kind of goes along the ceiling. She has leather harness strapped to it for when she gets large arrivals to where she can get up for giant artifacts that may come in. And she is examining what seems to be some kind of religious statue
00:07:00
Speaker
And as she's placing her hand on it as you walk in, she does not hear you enter because you see her mark glowing rather starkly against her like rich dark umber skin. And she has pretty long dreadlocks that are actually tied up into a messy fun right now. Awesome. And yeah, you just see her kind of trying to use her mark in some way on this
00:07:30
Speaker
It looks like a spiritual totem almost. Large. So, does Eris know? I mean, obviously by training Eris, Olive is presumably doing something the house would not approve of. Does Eris know anything about Olive's relationship to her house or not?
00:07:57
Speaker
Based on conversations that you've had, she doesn't talk about the house a whole lot. She talks about the university and kind of her relationship with them. You don't have any indication, though, as to whether or not that's ill feelings toward the house or just they don't have an impact in her life for good or ill. It might be just a very smooth relationship and she doesn't need to worry about it. So, so yeah.

A Rebellious Mentor

00:08:23
Speaker
OK, then Eris walks in and seeing her up in the rigging, I guess, sort of walks around the statue slowly. Morgrave have rules about weapons. I don't know whether Eris would be able to have her Fletcher on campus.
00:08:48
Speaker
Well, let me let me ask you this because this would have been something when they first met. Sure. Would Eris be comfortable with Olive like touching and fiddling with her gun, essentially? Hmm. Because if she brings it, Olive is going to. Sure, sure. No, that's that's fair. Honestly, I hadn't thought about that and I don't. Probably.
00:09:16
Speaker
Man, so here's the internal conflict for me, for Eris. On the one hand, Eris generally attempts to
00:09:30
Speaker
when she's not being extremely reckless, fly below the radar. On the other hand, Eris is immensely proud of the Fletcher and would and has no one else other than perhaps Sigil. And I don't know if Sigil is interested in it. But other than Sigil, she doesn't really have anyone else in her life that she can talk to.
00:09:51
Speaker
on her level about mechanics and engineering and design and that kind of thing. And I don't know, you would know better, but I get the impression that Sigil's thing is more innate. It's almost like they're like a techno man, sir. Like Forge from the X-Men. Yeah. Rather than an artificer in the strict sense is the impression I've got as a player, I've gotten so far.
00:10:21
Speaker
Yeah, Sigil would have far less grasp on what they do than somebody like Olive. Like for Sigil, it just seems like something innate, like you said.
00:10:33
Speaker
But now that I've talked it out, I think no, because the centerpiece of Eris's Fletcher, which I've discussed before, is that she has a tiny air elemental bound in a dragon shard that is the core of this.
00:10:51
Speaker
And that I think Eris is smart enough to know it's probably not something she wants to bring up to the houses because she just she just doesn't I think she just doesn't know what that what someone from the houses would do with that information. What that would mean. Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, she probably does not does not bring it then. OK.
00:11:15
Speaker
So anyway, that was a long way around. I apologize. She sort of walks around the object examining it. Eris doesn't have a lot of background in historical knowledge. Is this obviously a giant artifact?
00:11:38
Speaker
Yeah, if nothing other than the sheer scale and kind of the iconography on it, you looking at it, you see, like I said, this seems to be a large religious totem, so the bulk of it is made up of some kind of.
00:11:56
Speaker
a deity of some kind, but it looks to be kind of the features of Giant. And near the base of it, you see a bunch of elves in positions that make you deeply uncomfortable having suffered under the heel of
00:12:16
Speaker
other people. That's probably the way that Eris has grown to be able to instantly spot giant stuff is if there's enslaved elves on it, then that's the first thing that jumps. Is this a normal thing for me to see her working on? Because being an artificer, this sounds like something a historian would be studying.
00:12:44
Speaker
Yes and no. So a lot of times they they've discovered that the Giants were very clever in hiding things. So a lot of times stuff like this would get brought to Olive. She would give it a click quick once over and then see if she would open it.
00:13:01
Speaker
Yeah, right. OK, so OK, so then Eris sort of just takes a circuit around it. She's very. The one area where she's very courteous is that she does not interrupt someone who is clearly concentrating on on a job, at least a job that Eris recognizes any value in.
00:13:28
Speaker
And this is one of those. And so she's she's kind of trying to move quietly and just sort of get a a look at it and to see if she can figure out what all of. Is. Trying to do if she can, if she can tell, since all of us using her mark, that would seem to indicate that all of us found something. Yeah. And so she seems she can tell what all of us trying to do.
00:13:58
Speaker
Um, OK. Do you have any dice nearby? I actually have my character pulled up on roll 20. Cool. Perfect. Then if you want to make an artifice check. Sure. Yeah, if you just want to set it at a three purple difficulty. Okie dokie. One success and the threat. So. OK. So, yeah, you actually. With a success.
00:14:26
Speaker
You see you're kind of walking directly underneath all of as you circle around. She's roughly probably you would say about 12 to 15 feet off the ground. You see a seam running up the side of it, just very faint where there's the smallest of gaps in the stone. And you figure that is I mean, why would a statue have a gap in it that seems like and.
00:14:56
Speaker
Does it run all the way to the floor? Yes, it runs the entire length of the of the object. So Eris sort of follows it down with her eyes and steps close and sort of starts examining it up as close as she can. She doesn't mess with it. This is Olive's thing. She's very respectful of another craftsman thing that they're working on.
00:15:24
Speaker
Yeah. After a beat of Eris really focusing, you feel something not like solid, but you feel something tickle the top of your head a little bit. Eris.
00:15:39
Speaker
reacts very strongly like she jumps back. As you jump back and stand up, you see all those familiar face upside down as her messy bun dreads were hanging and just brushing the top of your head. Hello, Iris. I didn't. I didn't. Sorry, I lost track of time. This is fascinating, isn't it? I I guess so. Oh, yeah.
00:16:10
Speaker
I don't really know what it is. I mean, why is it? What did you find with the scene running down the middle?
00:16:20
Speaker
Ah, you spotted that very good. And in an instant without breaking eye contact, her head rotates in space as she drops down. Yes, the seam is very interesting. I was trying to see if there was some arcane mechanism within that would allow it to open. But unfortunately, it looks like it may be more mechanical in nature.
00:16:46
Speaker
some kind of key or something that needs to be depressed on the on the iconography on the outside. So more more investigation is needed, but it's very exciting because we don't know what it is. If we knew what it was, it would just be a statue. Right. Hey, it doesn't by any chance look like a giant sarcophagus, does it?
00:17:13
Speaker
Maybe for like a smallish giant. OK. That that may very well be what it is, though. OK. You know. You don't think there's like. Like a body inside, right? You don't think anyone inside there. She like grabs you as you say that by the shoulders very excitedly and like her amber eyes like
00:17:41
Speaker
burrow into your skull and it's like, that would be incredible. If this is somebody's coffin, then they would have been somebody very important. And you know what important people are buried with? Important stuff. Right. Yeah. Yeah. They still do that. They still bury people with a bunch of stuff though.
00:18:10
Speaker
Now it's just like kings and their swords. It's it's very boring now. But back then. Back then, it could be anything. It was it was prize possessions or in the case of the Giants, a lot of times it was things that they didn't want anybody else to find and mess with, especially if they were the last of their line. So, yes, this could be interesting. Could be very interesting. Yeah, anyway.
00:18:39
Speaker
Yes. What were you working on last time we were here? And she reaches into a pocket in her coat and takes out the the plate that she will eventually affix to the back of her left glove that she's been trying to work the mechanical enchantment into to allow it to assist her in artificing.
00:19:08
Speaker
Ah, yes. Yeah. Go ahead. Sorry. Um, I got the, uh, I got the residuum, uh, worked into the metal. Excellent. But I haven't, I haven't gotten as far as the, uh, as far as the, the enchantment part yet. Very good. Now, go ahead. Um,
00:19:37
Speaker
Now, what is your intention with the enchantment, Zach? Well, I have this idea that I could cause my tools. I mean, with my left hand, when I'm working, when I'm working on an object, my left hand's mostly just holding it. It's not actually
00:20:08
Speaker
doing the job, it's just providing stability. And I thought to myself, if I could get something to assist with that, or to mirror what my right hand's doing while it's working, that would make it a lot more efficient when I'm crafting. Oh, so
00:20:36
Speaker
an enchantment to help with enchantments. Yeah. It's almost doubling back on itself. Oh, wait, I know. And she kind of grabs the the like guide strap for her harness and swings it around to the wall that is just lined with tomes and books and like reference material.
00:21:04
Speaker
And also like blueprints and all and schemas and all kinds of stuff. And she, as it's like swinging around, climbs up to like the third from the top shelf and is quickly fingering through and finds like folded up stack of parchment. It's like this is and she kind of. Looks at the door, even though it's shut, like nobody could be peeking through, like this is.
00:21:33
Speaker
kind of proprietary, but it's something that somebody was working on. And they decided that if it went to market, then it would allow people to kind of circumvent certain people being able to monopolize things. And she kind of shimmies her left shoulder and hands you the stack of parchment.
00:22:03
Speaker
to bring it back. If anybody finds you with that, that not good, mostly because they know that I have it. So but Harris will fold it up carefully and then tuck it into another of the mini pockets sewn into the inside of her coat. As you tuck it into a pocket, the door opens and you see two figures walk in to the lab.

An Awkward Visit from Donors

00:22:33
Speaker
Both of them are two Cuban males, pretty pale-skinned, red hair. One of them is your age, and the other one is decidedly older. The younger one walks a couple of paces behind. And the older one says, Olive, it's so wonderful to see you.
00:22:59
Speaker
The very plastered on smile. Norsen. Hello. This is Eris. What's hello? My read on her right now. Is this fear? Is this just dislike? Inconvenience. OK.
00:23:22
Speaker
And or I don't, I don't want to say annoyance because annoyance makes it seem petty. She just like general dislike. Okay. Um, uh, she, she shakes Norsen's hand and Norsen extends Eris lovely to meet you extends his hand out. Um, Eris has gotten used to this and reaches out and
00:23:46
Speaker
Eris always wears gloves. I think I've mentioned that she doesn't like touching people, but she shakes his hand as quickly as she can. And he gestures to the younger individual and says, this is my son, Harbin.
00:24:07
Speaker
And Harbin just kind of apprehensively, like, gives a half-hearted wave. Not half-hearted and he doesn't care. It's just like, this is awkward. Hello. Paris. Nods. Olive turns to you and says, Norsen Millhatch here is
00:24:26
Speaker
a donor to Morgrave University. Norsen, how can I help? Norsen kind of says, well, if we could step over to your desk, that would be best. And so Olive and Norsen kind of leave you and Olive gives you a weight. And Harbin just kind of stands there near you. And so do you go to the university? Eris is
00:24:57
Speaker
Trying not to be real obvious, but Eris is shifting so that no one is between her and the door. She's trying to move herself so that no one is between her and an exit. Well, yeah, no. I come here sometimes, but just to see all of
00:25:29
Speaker
Oh, oh, OK. So. I'm not a student. Gotcha. So what do you do? I'm a I'm a mechanic. I I fix I fix things when they're broken. Oh, OK. Right. What about what about you? Are you a student here?
00:25:58
Speaker
Oh, no, I I'm just back in town for a few weeks from Reckon Mark visiting my dad. But he he makes things and and builds stuff up in the here in the upper districts. So, I mean, if you're ever looking for work, maybe you could he he's always in needs of good hands, I think. I don't know. I live in Reckon Mark. I don't know why I'm talking.
00:26:27
Speaker
You at the. Yeah, the military academy, that's common knowledge, that's not something Eris would need to. Yeah, no, that's that's that would be common. Are you at the academy there? Yeah, yeah. Just. Studying, you know. Dad wanted me to go there, so. I'm I'm going there. Have
00:26:58
Speaker
How is it? Cold, mostly wet. People there are. Focused, I think is the non mean way to say it, focused. But yeah, see, see these zombies.
00:27:23
Speaker
No zombies. The first skeleton was was spooky. But, you know, the older kids loved to pull pranks when the younger kids are sleeping in the middle of the night and then need to go to the bathroom. I don't know why I'm talking about going to the bathroom. Right. Yeah. Right. Yeah. You know what that's like? Kids I grew up with played pranks too.
00:27:59
Speaker
Do you get to pick a study there? Is it just war? It's mostly war. I mean, there's command, there's strategy, there's
00:28:17
Speaker
Uh, like fighting directly. What are you? Medicine? What are you? Strategy. It's what I tested well in your first year there. It's just kind of general. And then you have to take some tests. And if you don't pass any of them, they kick you out. But if most kids only pass one and that becomes your core study. Are you good at it?
00:28:48
Speaker
Um. I'm. It. He says I'm OK. Eris has been around enough, though, that you don't need to roll or anything. This is clearly somebody who is remarkably good, but does not like. Saying it like they're they're very much embarrassed to to talk highly of themselves. So I'm I'm OK.
00:29:20
Speaker
So do you have any idea what they're talking about? No, no, I just I just got here and all I was working on this big. This big was it. Yeah. I wasn't sure if you knew what all of my dad were working on together. I like I said, I'm never around here. So do I know what they're working on together?
00:29:46
Speaker
You've never met any of these people in your life. OK, I thought I thought not, but yeah. Yeah, no, I it's my my first time, my first time meeting a dad. And there's just this kind of lingering silence, sort of plays with the part of her hair that's over her face and.
00:30:14
Speaker
At this point, Olive and Norsen start walking back to you. And Norsen just very clearly says, Eris, nice to meet you. Harbin, let's go. Yeah, yeah. Good, good, good to meet you too. As you finish that sentence, he's halfway across the room as Harbin kind of looks to you and then takes off. Hi, Harbin. Good luck.
00:30:42
Speaker
Thanks. You, you too. Um, he kind of shrugs as he walks out the door. Um, sorry about that. Um, anyway, take a look at those. Hopefully it'll help get your enchantments done and then we can work on the next project. Hey, um, all of.

Challenging Knowledge Exclusivity

00:31:02
Speaker
Yeah. What? What? Why do you do this?
00:31:10
Speaker
I mean, you get in trouble, right? I mean, if that guy goes and he talks to someone in your house and that guy and they look into it and they figure out you've been giving me lessons and loaning me proprietary information and things like that, you get in pretty big trouble. So why? There was a time
00:31:40
Speaker
Um, there was a time when, um, another young girl wanted to study things like this and she was told she couldn't until she conveniently had a birthmark show up. And then all of a sudden people were okay with it. And you seem to be very adept at this kind of thing and interested.
00:32:09
Speaker
And I don't think that this kind of knowledge should be behind a wall made of bloodlines. Can I show you something and get your, uh, the impression on it? Sure. Quietly. Of course.
00:32:37
Speaker
Eris fiddles around in one of her pockets and pulls out one of the wooden schema from the Eldritch machine. Interesting. And she takes it from Eris's hand. I think it was. Creating a a link. To some war for some more forged that it.
00:33:06
Speaker
It enhanced him somehow. It gave him. Gave him just incredible strength, even for even for a forged. Interesting. And she kind of you see her melt back into her mind.
00:33:28
Speaker
That's where we're going to end it. Hope you all enjoyed this.

Recap and New Job Discussion

00:33:35
Speaker
Thank you, Philip, for giving us some wonderful insight into Eris in a couple of different situations. I think I almost had the same accent that entire time. But we hope you all enjoyed that and we hope that you enjoy part two of thinking inside the box.
00:33:58
Speaker
Yeah, we look forward to hearing what you think of the episode as a. Hello and welcome to Eber underneath an actual play podcast set in the Eber on campaign setting. I'm your game master, Eric. I'm Philip and Trevor. I'm Randy. I'm Jeff. And welcome to another episode. Gentlemen, what happened last time? We got a new job to move a box from one part of the city to another. What could be easier?
00:34:35
Speaker
I don't know how many times we've done that on this show, either me or Phillip, but it's always funny. It is. It's always funny. And a lady jumped on our ship and said she was important, but she wasn't. And she's probably important. I think she is. I think she's going to speak here. It's just not the way we think. She said, she, she, she said she was what? She was not true. She said she was good lord.
00:34:51
Speaker
Oh, but in that case, there was a murder!
00:35:04
Speaker
Yeah, she claimed to be from the Citadel, but was not. And then someone from the Citadel showed up, right? Yep. Trevor rolled a despair and manifested a member of the Citadel. Good. Who did show proper identification.
00:35:23
Speaker
Yes. And we are picking up immediately where we left off with trying to figure out what's next.

Discovering a Plot

00:35:31
Speaker
So yeah, like I said, Sigil, they're just driving, just trying to gain their bearings and figure out what just happened. Is there anything distinctive about this staff that I have ended up with?
00:35:47
Speaker
Um, so it's got some pretty jagged markings around it. Um, and something notable when you're holding it, uh, being an artificer, you could give me a knowledge adventuring check. Ooh, I haven't done one of those before. What is the difficulty of this check? It's going to be two purple dice.
00:36:11
Speaker
Okay. Uh, well, I feel like this is a clue. So I would like to spend a story point to upgrade, uh, in the hopes of finding out something that will be helpful to us and down the road. Okay.
00:36:26
Speaker
Um, I would allow what skilled as knowledge adventuring. It just pings off of intellect is what I've got. Um, you could do a joint check with Milo who has a very high intellect. Um, if Milo, you would like to help take a look at this.
00:36:45
Speaker
Sure. So, Eris, what is your intellect? Minus three. OK, so I'll just add a green to represent Milo having four in intellect. OK. So, Milo, you don't need to worry about rolling. You're just helping Eris take a look at this. OK, everything set. Yep. Cool.
00:37:07
Speaker
Whoa. Holy cow. Oh, that is so much about it for success. One advantage and one triumph. Yes. So with the success, you're pretty easily able, knowing, adventuring gear and equipment like magical staffs. This doesn't actually contain any magic in it. It is a focus for another source of magic.
00:37:36
Speaker
Um, is it in any, I mean, is it just plain old would staff focus it in any way? Okay.
00:37:47
Speaker
With the advantage, I have a slight narrative thing I can give you as advantage for the one advantage. Just because it would be common enough in Eberron, you know that this type of focus is used to channel dragon marks. So if somebody wants to have a focus, they're... Yeah. From the markings on it, I'm pretty sure Eris knows what's
00:38:12
Speaker
what's going on, but from the markings on it, can I confirm the specific drag and mark so that it is a true mark? The clan has a tenuous relationship with House Tarkannon. So you all would know enough about aberrant dragon marks and that house to pretty easily put put one and one together. That's how simple it is. It's not even put two and two together. It's put one and one together.
00:38:45
Speaker
Now, do I know whether or not, so obviously she had an aberrant mark. Does Eris know enough and or does the staff tell me anything as far as whether or not I would be confident that she was from House Tarkannon?
00:39:05
Speaker
No. OK. There's nothing to say this is a member of House Tarkan and just you know enough about aberrant dragon marks to know. When a mark doesn't look like a mark, it's aberrant. Sure. I just wanted to fly House Tarkan and we're the only ones who actually had access to these stabs or something. No, no, no, no. Yeah, nothing like that. OK. The triumph boy. Um.
00:39:31
Speaker
I would take suggestions from other players if they have any ideas. I can come up with something that's handy, but if anyone has anything that's specifically narratively useful for us to find out as this was a knowledge check, I'd be willing to entertain that.
00:39:53
Speaker
Otherwise, I might just, you know, attempt to declare that there's part of this staff as a dragon shard that I can salvage. I basically I have a narrative thing that basically will allow you to
00:40:10
Speaker
to put it in very meta terms, skip the next part of the adventure, like to get you all to your ultimate destination quicker. Like a better clue, essentially. I would take a better clue. Yeah, a good clue. I'm not necessarily going to skip things, but I like those. So so because you see because Milo assisted with this areas, as you're looking at it, you see the like sky coaches are obviously open air. So wind is rushing past you.
00:40:42
Speaker
I just wanted to clear it before anything else goes wrong. Now that crime has occurred, Eris has her scarf up and her goggles down. That is her crime outfit. Her crime outfit.
00:40:55
Speaker
her her fashion crime crime. So you see a piece of paper that the coroner is clearly soaked in fresh blood. So it was from the scene of the crime stuck to the heel of Milo's boot since he was out running like to check on you. So he stepped on something that
00:41:18
Speaker
presumably was in possession of this person that got killed. By by the way, I don't think I I did an ample job describing it when and Sigil would describe this to you like she caused his his eyes and anything in in his skull to just basically burst like his eye sockets were just blown out is what it looked like from from the outside.
00:41:45
Speaker
So would you say they were blown out from the inside out or sucked out from the outside? Honestly, Eris, I've never had to make that kind of distinction and I don't have the framework to do so.
00:42:08
Speaker
And she leans down and peels this off the bottom of Milo's boot. I imagine Milo being a halfling that his feet don't rest on the floor of the cab. And so she just probably reaches down and.
00:42:19
Speaker
feels this off the bottom of his boot or shoe or whatever Milo wears. So you see a slip of parchment with a message written on it that says meet chance at chance in Dragon Eyes. Meet chance at chance in Dragon Eyes. Yes. And there's a crude sketch. How is meat smelled?
00:42:51
Speaker
There's a meat chance. Cause if there's a chance for meat, Hobbs interested. Um, you, you are conferring with an individual named chance at chance. Hobbs. But if chance is as some kind of a tavern, then there would presumably be meat there. There's a, there is a meat chance when you meet chance at chance. Um,
00:43:21
Speaker
So anyway, people, people, people subscribe to this. You know, I've said it before, but I take it back. This is a good show. That was gold. That was quality in Dragon Eyes. OK, so, you know, Dragon Eyes is is a section of the city right near like it's it's relatively close to to where you all live.
00:43:49
Speaker
Basically, the Lower Memphis Plateau is right kind of in the southern center of the city. Dragon Eyes is just to the east across the gap, essentially. So it is also a red light district in its section of the city. I mean, is there any kind of.
00:44:13
Speaker
curve issue that we would run into going to that place being
00:44:22
Speaker
subsidiaries of the Boromar? No. Well, I mean, it is tyrant territory. So obviously there's there's no great amount of love between the two groups. But if you all are just going there for the nightlife, nobody's going to poo poo you unless you're going around talking about how great the Boromars are.
00:44:49
Speaker
I'm wearing shirts. So I shouldn't wear my T-shirt. Yes. And so much time on the poster. If somebody wants to give me a who I think Milo and Hobb and maybe Raynard have knowledge underworld. Yeah, I took it. I know that I do.
00:45:16
Speaker
Paris does not, she knows nothing about the world that she operates in. Yeah, I took, I took a rank in it. Um, Milo, do you have it also? I have four green in it, but I don't have a rank. Well, I only have one, one yellow. I don't have any green. Two greens. Okay. Can one of them assist me and add a green?
00:45:38
Speaker
Sure, Reynard, if you want to assist Hob, we can do one green and one yellow. So, Hob, you'll do the rolling. I'll add a green to your check. It's a two purple difficulty. Basically, I'm giving the opportunity to see if you know enough about Dragon Eyes to know what this message of meet chance at chance might mean. Okay. I may have missed it, or it may not... Do we know who this came from, the murderer or the murder-ed?
00:46:06
Speaker
That's a good question. Presumably, since it was close enough to the body and left behind, I would say it's pretty reasonable to think it came off the murdered body, like it fell out of his coat or something as he laid on the ground. Eyes. Or his eyes, yes.
00:46:27
Speaker
OK, let's do it. All right. You said you had the green. Yes, I've got the green added. I'm going to send a story point back your all's way to upgrade the difficulty once. Then I'm going to send one right back because I don't want to match pool. OK, I want an advantage pool. OK, so I've got your advantage added as well. So I'll get your upgrade. Yeah, right, right, right.
00:46:57
Speaker
Okay, so that's two failure. So yeah, this just kind of informs, you've never been to Dragon Eyes before Hobb, so you don't really, and you're probably when it comes to going to other shady districts in the city, you're probably the most well traveled because members of the Clans family want to go places, they want to do things.
00:47:18
Speaker
It's reasonable that you would be the one to have the best lay of the land, but unfortunately you've never been to Dragon Eyes, probably because it is Tyrant territory and the Tyrants are all changelings, and so the clan trusts them probably the least. Friends, I don't know Dragon Eyes particularly well. I don't know a chance. I don't know the other chance.
00:47:40
Speaker
I've got no opinion on the meat prospects. I do have this box beneath me.
00:47:58
Speaker
If we go to the drop with the Citadel on our tail and they disrupt this, then that's bad news for everybody. I think we need to track down this Corella and make sure that the authorities have her before we proceed.
00:48:21
Speaker
What if I hold up a mirror and you open the box by facing the mirror and then I'm not looking at whatever's in the box. I'm just looking at a mirror. Okay. It might be time to let you know that.
00:48:39
Speaker
earlier, the, um, is sigil interrupt you mid sentence. It goes, I'm sorry. Are we going to dragon eyes or the cogs or I'm, I'm literally just driving in circles right now. I assumed we were holding and floating, uh, floating and holding better. What's ever, whatever's in the box moved a minute ago. And I'd like to get it out from underneath me. That does not answer my question.
00:49:11
Speaker
Sigil's got a point. I mean, question, are the Citadel on our tail?
00:49:17
Speaker
I mean, they spotted you, so nobody's actively chasing you, but... Yeah, but I put my scarf up, so I'm pretty sure no one knows who I am anymore. No, they'll just be looking for the giant Goliath and the halfling with a very distinctive scar. Hey, thanks to Raynard, every bystander says that we were not involved.
00:49:44
Speaker
No, but you are people of interest like well, I hope so. We're making a podcast Radar did say she was in our car and she got out but we don't have anything to do with her. So
00:49:59
Speaker
The authorities aren't just going to. We'll roll the tape back. The authorities aren't just going to go, oh, well. So no, you may not be suspects because Raynard passed that check, but they certainly want a conversation with you. So there's nothing I can do of use with this staff. Am I right? Sell it. Is it valuable? Maybe.
00:50:28
Speaker
What is a check to know of how valuable it is? And this is a pretty unique style of item, so you're probably going to go need to get it appraised. It's probably best to just stow it away for now and. All right, Eris will not. It was evidence, Eris, if it was not valuable, Eris was going to chuck it out of the car. But since it could be, she'll hold on.
00:50:51
Speaker
I mean, it's I mean, Iris is going to yield to other people as far as where we go. She's interested in the box and she doesn't like this person who jumped in our car. So I mean, it seemed like this Cruella. This is Sana speaking. It seems like Cruella was targeting this person. And so regardless of whoever was supposed to have the meat chance with chance at chance. You wrote it. I know.
00:51:21
Speaker
Surely this chance person would probably have some information as to who the victim or Corello was and presumably they knew each other. This didn't seem like a random. I want to go with killing. Hobb would know the higher chances of being arrested and being able to get out of a situation. Hobb would know how long reasonably
00:51:49
Speaker
it would take to get the box to its destination, negotiate, go back up and drop the money off. Are you talking about going down to the cogs and you are in the upper districts of the city? And with the traffic the way it is currently, you're talking about hours to get down to the cogs. What's the, so you said Eris knows a little bit about house targeting. What is the
00:52:15
Speaker
What would the reputation that Eris would have picked up? I assume she's probably never interacted with them. The primary reason that Tarkanin and the Boromar clan coexist is because the clan has no interest in performing assassinations. That's not their game. That is Tarkanin's game. Tarkanin are assassins.
00:52:34
Speaker
Um, and that's their primary, um, yeah. Uh, they're, they're primary, uh, uh, business. Okay. So, so that's, yeah. Harris would say, well, one more thing to one more thing we ought to consider. If that woman was working for house Tarkana for house Tarkana,
00:53:04
Speaker
and was an assassin, and this was a contract kill. We didn't, I think, as a group, we, as a group, we didn't make an extremely favorable impression upon her. Again, as a group. And so she might, she might look to clean up witnesses. I
00:53:33
Speaker
I understand we've all just been through something. And we might all, including myself, have a desire to chase it. Corella does not know who we are. The body on the platform will be neither more nor less dead after we do this job. Chance might still be a chance. There's a chance.

Chase Through Sharn

00:54:00
Speaker
Meanwhile,
00:54:02
Speaker
I'm sitting on a box that can get us in a lot of trouble. And, you know, even if we go to chance, the Citadel could still catch us with the box no matter which way we go. Well, I think I'll be right. But in this, Kath speaks up.
00:54:24
Speaker
Either to get down to the cogs, we sit in traffic for a few hours waiting to get down there, or we get down there quicker by breaking the sky law and not following directions, which would draw more attention. So either we're sitting ducks, or I'm trying to think of another bird metaphor for something that's flying erratically.
00:54:52
Speaker
I got nothing. Drunken. Well, that was delightful. Pigeons. Thinning decks, sir. Flimming goes. Sure. Enough people saw who we were.
00:55:07
Speaker
that somebody's surely looking. Now, if we want to book it down to the cogs, that's fine. But either way, I recommend we either head to chance or head to Dragon Eyes or we book it to the cogs right now and not sit in traffic, sitting on our hands and sitting on this box. You say I had a spell like conceal or something? If there was a feather fall pack on this here boat, I'd have already jumped off with the box to get to the cogs.
00:55:40
Speaker
is what Hobb says. Is there a feather fall back on the boat? No. Can I be the one that just jumps off things now in this campaign? Can that be my part? Feather fall facts tend to be more military issued things. So what if we go to. The city watches you have wands with. If we take a chance on chance. And then.
00:56:12
Speaker
is the traffic may not be so bad later and then we go to the cogs.
00:56:25
Speaker
Prepare to make a cut. Nothing that could conceal the whole sky coach and all of you simultaneously. No, the noises in the box get a little bit louder. Hob doesn't feel it's shifting under your butt. Does it sound like just like some.
00:56:45
Speaker
I mean, not known. What's a fairy creature grumbling? Like, does that sound like a voice? Here's the thing. There's no scratching. There's no, like, pressure. Like, it's not like something's fighting against the box. Like, the box is shifting its weight a little bit and you hear muffled noises. But I guess what I'm asking is, do the noises sound like a voice or does it sound like shuffling? Or wind whistling or something that's not, it sounds like coming out of a
00:57:15
Speaker
sentient body. I mean, best estimation, you think it sounds like some kind of grunts. Okay. Nevermind. It's just a cat. So do you know how cats grunt? I don't know a cat. Yeah. Okay. So what are we doing? Are we going to the cogs or are we going to dragon eyes? Sounds like it's a moat. So if we, if we book it to the cogs, how much time we talking?
00:57:44
Speaker
If you just like, assuming we make it free fall, drop it, um, you're talking, it's, it's less than an hour, probably like 30 to 45 minutes to go the entire, like basically hop on the shoulder and drive as fast as reasonably safe.
00:58:03
Speaker
That could draw attention to us. And I mean, I think we'll draw to living in a place with a lot of highways that have construction. I see plenty of people do that all the time and get away with it. So you never know. And my other thought is we don't have to run right back to Holden. Really? I don't know. Okay. So Milo saying go to dragon eyes.
00:58:33
Speaker
hob sounds like is in favor of cogs. Yes. Aris. Aris votes with hob. Reynard. Oh, I'm so conflicted. Hey, I'm sorry, but it would be okay if we got the other three in the boats opinions before we asked Reynard. Okay.
00:58:59
Speaker
I mean, Kathy, Kathy was the one that was very much pushing to go to Dragon Eyes, so she's going to side with Milo and say going to meet with Chance is the smarter thing to do. Sana is more concerned about getting caught with.
00:59:22
Speaker
Sana thinks it's worth the risk to just get this job over and done with, and then you can deal with the access, potential accessory to murder charges later. So she's in favor of the cogs. And then Sigil is very much in favor of going to Dragon Eyes to meet up with her. Three and three. Ah.
00:59:47
Speaker
Well, I don't know where we can do a coin toss in 2020. Here's the two sides of the argument, Reynard, just so you're fully informed. Cath is concerned that if you all book it down to the cogs, you're going to draw a lot of attention and potentially you're going to have the citadel at the drop slash negotiation.
01:00:09
Speaker
for this box, which means bad things for everybody involved, including you all. Sana's stance, because I'm just going to speak from an NPC standpoint, is regardless of how long it takes you all to get down to the cogs, if you go to the cogs first, then there's less time for the Citadel agents to get on your trail, whereas if you go to Dragon Eyes and do all that stuff, it gives the Citadel more time to potentially track you down.
01:00:38
Speaker
So it's whether or not you want to try to deal with this situation to make sure the drop of the box is safer and you don't have the potential for the Citadel to show up due to despair or something like that. Or you want to make sure that you get this box out of your possession as quickly as possible so that if slash when the Citadel catch up with you, you don't have this extra boondoggle to deal with.
01:01:08
Speaker
I think the longer we have this box, the longer we are in danger. So cogs, it is. OK. So you all head down. So presumably we're not sitting in traffic for three hours waiting to get down to the cog. Sigil is hopping the proverbial curb and taking off. So, yeah.
01:01:40
Speaker
Sigil is going to make a piloting check. Is there anything Hobb can do to help make this more successful since it's literally the only thing he wants right now is to get this box out from underneath him? I mean, you can stop sitting on the box at any time. No, I couldn't. Airs will open it. Um.
01:02:07
Speaker
I mean, no, because what you did last time in the chase was stand on the front of the ship and scream at people, which is probably going to draw a lot of attention to you. I know. Okay, so that's a failure with two advantage on Sigil's piloting check.
01:02:26
Speaker
Sigil is driving. Sigil is doing their best to drive illegally. But they're not the most adept at this.
01:02:38
Speaker
trying to drive illegally without drawing suspicion. Sigil is great in a car chase. They can drive. Anyway, you all get spotted by a CityWatch SkyCoach. They pull out of the hubbub of the traffic
01:03:00
Speaker
And they're probably five, or I'm gonna say seven car lengths, just to borrow a modern term. Seven car lengths between you and the City Watch Sky Coach. So what do you all do? I'm going, or Eris is going to lean forward and she says,
01:03:28
Speaker
Oh, still a minute, Sigil. And she sort of puts her, rests her hands on the back of shoulders and pops out one of her tools. And she's going to attempt to do augment on Sigil to improve piloting on the next inevitable check. So I will make that check and then describe. So this is just augment. I should have.
01:03:55
Speaker
an upgrade and a boost die from my fancy, fancy tools. Okay. All right. Okay. Cool. So what happens here? Two success, three advantage. Is unlike when she does this for Hob or anyone else, she's doing the series of arcane glyphs directly onto Sigil. Like she's just got,
01:04:24
Speaker
one of the, they don't have shoulder blades, but the plate that would cover their shoulder blade because it's accessible to her while in the back seat. And she just begins to inscribe. And as she does, this little cuff or the little plates on her left glove start to glow and additional little tools sort of rise up on arms out of them and begin working alongside so that it goes a whole lot faster.
01:04:50
Speaker
And then she finishes with the little arcane signature and the spell fires. I have two success and three advantage for the three advantage. I would like to put a boost die out or whoever makes the next check in our chase. OK. And I would like to go ahead and just immediately recover my strain. OK. I'm casting the spell.
01:05:20
Speaker
That works. OK, so and you've augmented, I'm presuming agility for piloting. Augment is just augment. It affects every check. OK, OK. Anybody else want to do anything before things pop off? I don't know what I'd do. OK. I'm built for one thing.
01:05:47
Speaker
Um, so are any of you, like, giving instruction on what Sigil should be doing to try, like, cause Sigil, I mean, is just going to go. Yeah. If someone goes like a quick route down to the cogs, I'd say, I mean, I'd be happy to make a knowledge underworld check to see if I know someplace we could maybe even if it's not a quick route down to the cogs, a place we could try to lose this cops since they're still reasonably far behind us.
01:06:14
Speaker
Okay. Um, let's do the joint check again, just to maximize chance of success with Milo and hob sharing their knowledge. Um, let's go ahead and let Milo roll. So I'll just add a upgrade to Milo's check. Um, I'm imagining hob and Milo both shouting directions simultaneously to sigil. Uh, so Milo, if you want to make a just select knowledge underworld, I've got everything set up for you and hob to do a joint check on this.
01:06:45
Speaker
Oh, two failure, one advantage, one advantage. So, yeah, you all are both just shouting directions. I hate to waste it because I know it can't it can't redeem this, but their next check should have had a boost die. Fair enough. It might throw some extra advantage out, I guess.
01:07:06
Speaker
Yep. I will just roll it real quick by itself. So that's only one failure. Two advantage is the, um, so yeah, you all are both trying to provide directions, but they're not the same directions. Unfortunately, um, with the two advantage, uh, what would you all like to do with that?
01:07:38
Speaker
Throw a boost out of Sigil. Yeah, I think that's probably the best thing to do. OK. Yeah, it sounds like a plan. OK, so Sigil is going to go into car chase mode if nobody has a better idea and just try to gun it. So. They're going to put the pedal to the wood. No reason.
01:08:04
Speaker
to success and for advantage. Um, so in a moment, uh, sigil kind of glances over their shoulder and sees, um, the, the city watch. It's like, well, so much for the subtlety and then kind of barrel rolls out of the lane. Um, and just kind of
01:08:27
Speaker
barrel roll into a nosedive kind of thing. All of your stomachs kind of rise and then settle as you go into a freefall and you see the city watch vehicles start to drop after you as well. So let's go ahead and.
01:08:45
Speaker
do a impromptu skill challenge. So like we did in the chase before in the last arc, you all can, like I said, hob subtleties out the window now. So if you want to scream for people to get out of the way, that's probably not going to make things worse. So anybody have a check they would like to make to try and properly benefit this situation? Oh, you read.
01:09:15
Speaker
I was gonna say would streetwise like have to do with the actual streets or just that that's knowing knowing where to get things or knowing where to go for certain things so i would like to use streetwise to let's say know a smuggler's tunnel or something that's not on any maps to be able to try and uh get away so um
01:09:41
Speaker
OK, I have the difficulty is too purple. So if you want to make your check, if you'd like to spend a story point, you can. I think we need to. OK. Yeah, I've got that. So and you have a boost die thanks to the advantage on the last knowledge check. So you're good to go.
01:10:04
Speaker
that's one success one success okay that's all we needed right um that's all you needed one success okay so that's um literally just one success uh towards your success trek um so yeah you all um
01:10:22
Speaker
Reynard, you're able to quickly kind of hop up to the front and this seem like it looks like an awning that had fallen. That's just kind of flapping in the wind. You point to that as as being a tunnel. And so Sigil goes and just flies what looks to be straight through this wall and then burst through this canvas into a tunnel. Who would like to go next? I'll try to use mechanics to cobble something together to to get the car moving.
01:10:53
Speaker
OK, since I'm a little rich in story points, I'm going to use one to upgrade my side of the check. And also, OK, you're tinkering with the engine while it's been used. So right. But I have my tools now, my magic tools now. So I should get the upgrade and boost from that. Yep. And I'm good.
01:11:12
Speaker
Go for it. Oh, wow. That's unlikely. OK. I have a failure and a threat despite rolling three D12s and a D6 against one D8 and a D12. That's a lot of blank dice. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. For three of my four dice are blank.
01:11:31
Speaker
So you're back there tinkering. You're nothing's working, though. Yeah, it's well, I mean, the sense in which this vehicle has an engine is fairly abstract. So what she's working with is sort of trying to play with the innate manifest zone of the city. And it's just yeah, she's just. She's yeah, she's just pounding her fist on the on the on the wood, trying to get it to go.
01:12:01
Speaker
Okay, Milo, Hob? Uh-oh, what are you doing with that threat? With the threat, Eris, I mean, it's gotta be a strain. It's like you're fighting against this, quote unquote, engine. It's not working. You punch the sore wood, it cracks a little bit. Okay, Milo, Hob? Those following us, are they close enough that I could cast a spell?
01:12:31
Speaker
You could do something. I don't want you to do it to do attack because it's not a combat encounter. No, no, no, no, no, no. Yeah. I want to curse them. Okay. Basically, I want to cause them misfortune. Okay. Turn what, which turns what a failure to a
01:12:54
Speaker
Uh, so when they, when they have to roll a setback die, um, you can flip it to where it has a failure on it. Um, and then additionally, any skill checks they make, they remove one green die from their checks. So, um, so that's going to be, uh, three purple dice is the difficulty. Um,
01:13:20
Speaker
to cast a curse with misfortune. Um, so yeah, it's ready for you. Um, so go for it. Whoa. Okay. That's three success and three threat. Uh, so Milo, be sure to suffer your, um, your strain. And that is three success towards your required total three threat. Oh, and you're a magic user. So that means it's, uh, extra spicy.
01:13:53
Speaker
Oh, boy. That new recipe, you get a garage where Eris can trick out our sky cab.
01:14:01
Speaker
Hey, that is a series of talents I have included in the document. Oh, I noticed that, yeah. He just needs to get better at piloting. I mean, I got to go with the top recommended one. So, Milo, you successfully cast the spell off, but you don't think about the fact that you're near the front of the Sky Coach. And so you cast it and this curse washes through
01:14:25
Speaker
the sky coach to where it's it's going to affect. Let's say. Here, I'm going to roll a one D three or one D six and divide by two. Reynard, you are also under the effect of this curse. OK, so. So I already did my good thing, so.
01:14:57
Speaker
OK, so yeah, you you accidentally catch Reynard in this curse that you successfully cast. OK, now, Hobb, it is your turn. OK, I. I don't want to stand on the front of the boat and scream barking people. Honestly, if. Until.
01:15:22
Speaker
I did not think about having to get around when I chose ranks and talents and things. If Cath or Sana has something, I would happily forfeit my turn for one of them to be more efficacious. If you don't want that, give me an idea. I have an idea that might play to hopstring. The way it was described, the little smugglers tunnel was like behind a canvas.
01:15:49
Speaker
I don't know what Hobb skills are. I'm just I'm just guessing based on his physique. Would it be possible for Hobb to attempt, like, I don't know, coordination or athletics to as we go by. Tear the canvas so that it like falls across the front of the of the watch car as it comes through.
01:16:13
Speaker
So you're both in the tunnel at this point, but there would be a canvas on the exit of it. So I could, I would, yeah, that'd be totally reasonable that you could try to grab it as you all exit and throw it at these guys. Okay. That sounds fun. I'd love it to be athletics if you're so inclined. Yeah, we can make it athletics. I have more story points than you all, so I'm going to spend one to upgrade. And also because I know your athletics check is going to be pretty good.
01:16:42
Speaker
Um, okay. What am I rolling against? Just so I know, uh, one red, one purple. Okay. I'm not going to upgrade. Let's see what happens. Oh, that is five success. Five success. That's awesome. Five success. Two threat. Okay. Um, so yeah. Hob describe, describe what happens.
01:17:10
Speaker
Okay, Hobb, from his seated position. No. I think actually what has to happen, since I used athletics, let's put something physical prowess in there. I think Hobb has to stand on the box, because obviously we're not flying through the canvas. The canvas is rolled up or something right now. Hobb has to stand on the box to reach up to grab the canvas.
01:17:40
Speaker
As he rips it down, it's just the luck of five successes that it floats and just drapes. I think if I may, I think it catches on the bow of the watch car behind us in a way that it's going to be some effort for them to get it off. Like they can't just kind of pull like it's hooked on something.
01:18:08
Speaker
Yeah, okay. So they're going to make their piloting check now to try and... Sorry, what's the threat? Oh, thank you. I'm going to give them a boost die to their check. Sure.
01:18:29
Speaker
Okay, so because of the canvas draped across the front, I'm gonna give them two setback die to their check. And because of Milo's curse, their piloting check is taken down to one yellow, one green instead of one yellow, two green, and they have a boost die. So that is everything for their check. So the role is,
01:18:56
Speaker
one or one failure, one advantage. And Milo, because of your misfortune, you can they have a blank setback die that you can set to a failure. So they have two failures and an advantage. But. Yeah, they're their one advantage is they are not hurt when their vehicle falls from the sky.
01:19:24
Speaker
Yeah. Um, but yeah, they fail. So they're not gaining any ground on you all. Um, they're still valiantly attempting to, to chase you. Okay. So we're, uh, back around, uh, um, Sigil needs to make their piloting check. So they are going to get because of, so because of that, they are going to get an extra green from Eris's augment.
01:19:54
Speaker
Eris, did you maintain your augment? Yes, I did. Okay. Oh, okay. So Sigil does not gain any ground on the city watch either. Failure and advantage. With the advantage, Sigil will pass a boost die to the next person to go. So who would like to go next? Um,
01:20:22
Speaker
Let me see what else Eris can do. I'm trying not to just double up on the same thing over and over. Eris would like to negotiate with the police. No, Eris.
01:20:38
Speaker
I will try a streetwise check as we are, you know, maybe zooming through neighborhoods that she's got some knowledge of. I will attempt a streetwise check to point out a. A better route. OK. You get a boost die from Sigil's check. OK.
01:21:03
Speaker
Yeah, I'm good. What is the difficulty? I am spending a story point to upgrade, so one red, one purple. Okay. Okay, so zero success, three advantage, and a triumph. So you have failed the check. Okay, so Eris is looking around. She does not know where we are anymore at all. She's pretty confident we're in shard.
01:21:34
Speaker
But so much goodness there. I would like to suggest. That the canvas on the police watch skiff on the skiff comes unhooked. And flies backwards directly over the open top.
01:22:02
Speaker
and hits at least one of the, of the passengers. Okay. To what end? Oh, I was hoping it would just, I mean, it's, it's moving at high speed. There's a lot of wind resistance. I'm hoping one of them, especially yanked right out of the vehicle.
01:22:20
Speaker
So, yeah, as there a couple of them are up at the front fidgeting and trying to get it unhooked and they get it unhooked and it goes flying back and catches one of the city watch and they go flying out. And I would like them to end up hanging from something entangled in it comically. OK, they'd be hanging behind by Spider-Man. Can they be hanging comically entangled in the canvas that is now a drag parachute on the back of the boat?
01:22:51
Speaker
I don't know, is there enough, uh, is there enough advantage to the triumphant three advantage? I would love that if there's enough, if there's enough on the table there for it, but that's up to you.
01:23:03
Speaker
when I first saw the triumph, my initial thought was, man, we sure were lucky to hit the gap in that parade. Sure. So yeah, this City Watch member is tangled up in the canvas being drugged behind the Sky Coach that is causing a great amount of drag and resistance as they try to catch up to you.
01:23:27
Speaker
So how that will manifest itself on their check is, and their check will be automatically upgraded as they attempt to catch you. So yeah, and then if for some reason they do catch you and this comes to blows, they will be one person down as this person is probably gonna be passed out from just G force within a couple minutes. So who would like to go next?
01:23:54
Speaker
going to avoid me going since I have misfortune on me. Yes. How about Milo to try a streetwise to pinpoint an opportune spot to pick and go?
01:24:09
Speaker
OK. I've got it all set for you to success, one threat. So, yeah, Milo, you're you're able to up there by sigil point at a an alleyway that you know is is really narrow and they're going to have a hard time safely navigating it, whereas you you fully trust sigil and their ability to to navigate.
01:24:37
Speaker
Um, with the threat though, it is a very narrow alleyway. And if Sigil messes up in this scenario, then it's kind of on you. So go and take a threat, uh, because you're a little stressed about this advice that you've given Sigil. Um, okay. Hob or Reynard. Oh, uh, important question, Milo. Are you main, are you concentrating to maintain your curse on them?
01:25:04
Speaker
Um, I did not since I realized that I also hit my friend. Okay. So my, or Rainard, you are no longer cursed. Yes. So you can go if you have an idea. Cause I'm still looking at my skills. Um, I think my best idea was street wise. Um, but let's see. Let's see. Let's see. I don't want to shoot them.
01:25:38
Speaker
Oh, man. A charm in my way out of this. So I guess I just need to do another skullduggery. I mean, yeah, you could. What would skullduggery like? I'm sorry, streetwise is what I meant. Streetwise. Yeah, if you want to do that, you can.
01:26:00
Speaker
Or maybe can I wondering if I can manipulate in a way I can get digital to drive. And near something or something that they might bump into or I've been to. OK, like.

Crash Landing in Dragon Eyes

01:26:19
Speaker
That combat or would that be?
01:26:23
Speaker
No, be a coroner that we can make. But if he go ahead and this is kind of weird, but give me a deception check. OK, yeah. So social skill, right? Yes. Hey. Hey. Would you like to use a story point to upgrade? Why do we have left? I can't see.
01:26:52
Speaker
You have four currently. Yes. OK, I've got your upgrade, so you're good to go. Oh, to failure. OK, three advantage. So before we resolve the failure, what would you like to do with those advantage, Reynard? Exceed.
01:27:21
Speaker
Oh, he gets two more advantage on that, by the way. Thanks to Loom. Oh, OK. Yeah, so he's two failure five advantage. So if you don't hit anything. As their friend was getting thrown off with the canvas, someone tried to grab him and they got thrown off, too.
01:27:46
Speaker
We're going to Keystone Cop all these guys. I actually, I have something that you might want more because that was your all's third failed check in the skill challenge, which means you have failed the skill challenge. So yeah, you were one success shy of succeeding.
01:28:05
Speaker
You had 14 success and you needed 15. So five advantage. I'm going to say that you all, all of you collectively land on your feet.
01:28:20
Speaker
OK. Oh, because the the nature of this and the way it was going to be narratively described is you having Sigil cut this corner knowing that there was an overhang and then having Sigil at the last second drop down and hoping they would just make the turn and crash.
01:28:36
Speaker
So Sigil, they're not quite quick enough and they clip the overhang. And so the Sky Coach lands on the platform, not a full crash landing, but certainly not not airworthy at this point. But with all of the advantage, you all quickly react and anticipate, Hob, you've got the box underneath your arm and it's time to beat feet.
01:29:05
Speaker
Are we running or are we standing our ground? Whichever you would like to do. Yeah, I'm asking the crew. I don't think we should fight, do you? They like the police? Harris' instinct is absolutely to run. I mean, I'm fine to turn and run. Running, let's run, I'm a runner. Okay, then can I use my knowledge underworld
01:29:33
Speaker
to look around and see if I know a place we can lay low for a bit. Like sure, you know, we can duck into the hide. Um, go for it. Oh, okay. Well, what a fun day. That's no success with three threat.
01:29:50
Speaker
So those three threat. They they round that corner and they're ever bright Leonard immediately snapped on you and you all still have have the time because they obviously have to come down to you.
01:30:11
Speaker
to take off. You all, because you were going down from the upper section of the city during this and Sigil was going in a fairly rapid descent, I'm going to flip a story point for narrative purposes. You all round a corner into a crowd like it's it's a busy weekend night and
01:30:43
Speaker
Hob, you know the underworld well enough to know. You just kind of shake your head and curse under your breath as you realize that you all have crash landed into the Dragon Eyes district.
01:30:58
Speaker
End of episode. Thank you all so much for listening. Hey, you all were more than welcome to go to the cogs. If you would have succeeded, you would have ended up there.
