Speaker
Hello and welcome to What's Next. My name is Joel and this is my show.

Tribute to Pasquale Russo

00:00:05
Speaker
I wanted to take a moment here on the podcast to remember my father-in-law Pasquale Russo, who unexpectedly passed away just a few weeks ago. Pasquale was a very special person in my life. I haven't known anyone really more generous than him in terms of making space for people.

sharing his, his resources with people, his time, making people feel comfortable and included. And he did that for me and he did that for my kids. And his home was my home right from the beginning when I lived there for six months before marrying

his daughter. And he really made sure that I knew

That was home for me too. When Mo and I got engaged, I applied for a U.S. green card. And that process takes some time and effort and I needed a sponsor. Someone who sort of guarantees that if this person who's immigrating into the country

does anything to accrue debt or is in need of public funds that the sponsor guarantees that they will cover whatever those costs are. And he had to get together a lot of paperwork and file documents for me and

He took on all that liability and risk for me during that time to come into the country.

And that was, that was back in 2007. And, um, I found that envelope that he put together for me for that paperwork, uh, when we were, uh, looking through his files and, and for his will a few weeks back and.

He was just always so supportive of me and of his kids and

He was a hair stylist for 47 years and he owned a hair salon where he was known to always have classic rock blasting across the shop.

Reflection on Loss and Support

And when I started this podcast, he was so proud of me for it that he was playing the podcast in the salon and put a pause on the classic rock just for a little bit.

Speaker
He just made a difference for people. And for me, um, he was so supportive and he was involved and he wanted to help out. He really, he gave as much as he could all the time. I always loved anytime I got to see him and he died very suddenly on February 22nd.

And I feel that I didn't get to see him enough. And then I wish I could see him again. But I wanted to just say here on the podcast, thanks Pasquale for the gift you were in my life. And I will be missing you.
