What would happen if we got rid of the guns?
The million dollar question and to answer it this episode we are firing up the time machine and heading back to 1996 in Port Arthur on the Australian Island of Tasmania. After this shooting, the country's whole governing authorities pass the toughest gun laws in the world.
It's really interesting to think in every country, we have this question about how guns play into it and what would happen if we got rid of the guns.
And yet, in fact, we have an experiment going on right now of a country that essentially did get rid of all their high powered guns.
Katherine and Sarah are joined by Dr Adam Lankford - Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Alabama. We tap into the results of his global study to see what the stats say.
