Speaker: Hello, hello, hello, everyone. Chase here. I Sam-less for this brief little update. Although Sam, of course, sends his best from us here at Death is a Photograph, Death Photo Pod.

Speaker: I am making this little announcement because we are going to be taking about a month off, August of this year, in a sort of a European-style little vacation where they all get on the trains and head out to the countryside in a sort of cultural revolution in the name of leisure.

Speaker: We've been doing the show for about a year now and have had an absolutely phenomenal time. But both of us are headed into a very busy fall when inevitably things will get a little tight.

Speaker: And so we would like to use the month of August to really do two things. One, reset a little bit. get little break before the craziness of the fall begins, and secondarily begin thinking through and planning the next season, which will be done in part in collaboration with you, the subscribers, especially those of you at the paid tiers. In other words, it will also give us time to begin to implement the rewards that we have been talking about since the beginning. We just wanted to get enough folks um on those tiers to begin instituting those

Speaker: In any case, that brings me to the second part of the announcement, which is that we've been planning to do something like this for a while because the Generation X, the Gen X season, is kind of coming to an end. The recent Noah Baumbach episode was a way of our sort of thinking about how Gen X interacts with millennials. It was kind of a long-planned way of saying goodbye to Gen X. Now, we will still have a recap episode. We...

Speaker: want to kind of gather our thoughts about what we feel we've learned with this little experiment in season one. But it's a natural enough time to take a break for that reason as well. Now, don't worry, we are going to pause all payment for the month that we're taking this little break.

Speaker: So you will owe us nothing. we would never, ever, ever, ever want to take advantage of your kindness and generosity in giving us anything out of your hard-earned money. So please do not worry about that.

Speaker: When we return, I expect that we're going to be scaling down to two episodes a month instead of four. Now, this is the hardest part. We're going to continue to put in an immense amount of work, maybe even more. They may get longer, I can't say.

Speaker: But we have been doing this for about a year, and we intend to get back to the full episode four episode a month approach at some point. So when we return, we will be doing two a month, very likely one paid, one free. So you all still be getting something.

Speaker: By no means should you expect that we want to take one group and say, oh, you're all out or you're all in, not in any way, shape or form. The way it looks is that we'll take our little break. We'll come back with our two episodes a month.

Speaker: These will probably be sort of just fun, different little things we've been considering doing for a while. They won't belong to a particular season. just kind of hoping they'll fit the vibe the podcast, right?

Speaker: Maybe there'll be a guest or two, maybe there won't. That'll go on for a little while while we poll our paid subscribers, figure out exactly how we want to proceed with the new season, and then it'll be back to regularly scheduled programming. So we just ask, you know, please bear with us.

Speaker: For the next month or so, while we sort of just get it together, take a little time to rest, break, go to the beach, get ready for the coming work year, for for me at least as someone in a school environment.

Speaker: This is a busy time in preparation for the new school year, as well as it is for Sam. We will be back to you very soon with some lovely episodes at a slightly slower pace before launching into our new season with hopefully fully solidified paid tiers and all the good stuff that we want to make sure we can do for you.

Speaker: So thank you so much for your patience and thank you for listening. i know taking a little break may make it seem like oh, I don't know, we we don't want to be doing this. But that could not be further from the truth. this ah Getting to do this for you guys is really one of the highlights of every week for me and is the kind of thing that kind of gets me out of the morass of everyday existence. Even though, of course, I love my life, it can get samey and getting to do something like this really breaks that up. Talk to some fun people, talk to some of you guys in the comments and at other places, email with some of you, just kind of

Speaker: get out there and and get to do something fun with information and with ideas and movies and books and things that I just, that I love. So thank you for affording Sam and I the opportunity to do that.

Speaker: You will hear from us very, very soon. little more on Gen X and then much, much, much more thereafter. Bye-bye.
