Joseph Skutt: There are hotels. where you sleep. And then... their hotels. Where you wonder? as something else. sleeping with you.
Joseph Skutt: Tonight. We're traveling deep. It is southwestern Colorado. into the store. down. of Durango.
Joseph Skutt: Colorado. 18. town built. around the railroad. town. that remembers the footsteps.
Joseph Skutt: a miner's Gamblers. Businessmen. Travelers. Outlaws. and people. We never quite.
Joseph Skutt: seem to leave. standing in the heart of of downtown Durango. is a building. that has watched more. than a century past.
Joseph Skutt: through its doors. the Stratner. Hotel.
Joseph Skutt: Built in 1887 Distractor. become one of Durango's most recognized recognizable landmarks.
Joseph Skutt: It's Victorian. architecture. It's very beautiful. it's Wood. what It's woodwork. is elaborate.
Joseph Skutt: Its rooms carry the atmosphere. of another century. but according to stories past. down through the years.
Joseph Skutt: some of the hotel's former occupants may still. be checked in.
Joseph Skutt: tonight. We're going. inside. and after the doors closed. We mean that. too. be alone.
Joseph Skutt: Imagine. Durango. Not late. 19th century the railroad. has arrived. steam engines Fill the air. with smoke.
Joseph Skutt: Horses. Pull wagons through the dusty streets. Miners. merchants. Travelers. Gamblers.
Joseph Skutt: And... adventurers. A riot looking for opportunity. and in the middle of at all. Stance. A brand new hotel.
Joseph Skutt: to stratter when I was often when it has opened its doors in eighteen eighty seven it represented.
Joseph Skutt: Luxury. and sophistication. for a growing. frontier community. guests walk through.
Joseph Skutt: beneath its irate ceilings. They climbed wooden staircases. They entered rooms. Illuminate.

Joseph Skutt: people. arrived carrying their secrets. They celebrate. They argue. They fall in love. They've become sick They die.
Joseph Skutt: And then... they leave. or At least. That's what they supposed. to be believe.
Joseph Skutt: because according to local legend The Stradler Strader Hotel. has accumulated. something over the decades that doesn't appear on any Reservation list.
Joseph Skutt: Stories. Whispers. Footsteps. And... Of course. Ghost.
Joseph Skutt: Picture yourself. standing in one of the tells. hallways. right after midnight. The lights are low.
Joseph Skutt: The building was quiet. There are no voices. Coming from the lobby. No luggage. rolling across the floor.
Joseph Skutt: the doors opening. Nothing. Just silence. then. Don't. His sound comes somewhere in the hallway.
Joseph Skutt: you wait nothing you take another step. Don't. Closer. You stop.
Joseph Skutt: And then... You hear it. footsteps. slow. measured. approach you.
Joseph Skutt: They can roll louder.
Joseph Skutt: three and four Good luck. towards the end of the hallway. stay let the foot footsteps continue.
Joseph Skutt: And so me. They stop. Right. outside your door. You stare. at the door knob. It doesn't move.
Joseph Skutt: wait
Joseph Skutt: Ten seconds. Goodbye.

Joseph Skutt: You freeze. Another.
Joseph Skutt: another
Joseph Skutt: you reach for the handle. You op - the door. The hallway is empty. completely empty.
Joseph Skutt: but on the wooden floor. You hear one final sound. a final step behind you.

Joseph Skutt: guests and visitors. have reported. hearing unexplained footsteps. Doors. have reportedly opened.
Joseph Skutt: Work. closed. Homero. Some people claim to have heard voices. them. Nobody else. was nearby.
Joseph Skutt: others describe. the unsettling c sensation. Thank you. that someone was watching them. And then... there are the stories. of reparations.
Joseph Skutt: figures. appearing briefly. only to disappear at moments later. Now. Are these stories? proof of ghosts.
Joseph Skutt: there are no scientific evidence. establishing that the spirits inhabited the hotel.
Joseph Skutt: Old buildings. make strange noises what expands and contracts. Pipes. Rattle.
Joseph Skutt: wind moves through the walls. people can Misinterpreted shadows. and the human brain.
Joseph Skutt: It's especially good. at turning unexplained sounds There's something meaningful. but That doesn't stop the stories.
Joseph Skutt: And some of these stories. are wicked. remarkably. remarkably present.

Joseph Skutt: You turn off the light. Thanks for watching! You lie down. And then... You notice it. the room. feels different.
Joseph Skutt: No. cold. Not necessarily frightening. chest. occupied We hear something move.
Joseph Skutt: A gentle rustle. You sit up. Nothing.
Joseph Skutt: You lie back down. Thinking nothing of it. then. Bye.
Joseph Skutt: the floorboards. Looked towards the door Nothing. another. Bye.
Joseph Skutt: then... This time. from another side of the room. We turn on the lamp. Silence. Turn it off.
Joseph Skutt: Then you hear something. that makes your heart stop. a voice. Not loud. No. Clear. Almost someone is whispering from the hallway.
Joseph Skutt: you sit up. You listen. Nothing. you convince yourself it was just a plumbing. Then a whisper comes again this time.
Joseph Skutt: Closer.
Joseph Skutt: You reach for the light. And the lamp turns on. by itself.
Joseph Skutt: among the types of the stories commonly associated. with the old hotels are sightings mysterious women. dressed in clothing from another era.
Joseph Skutt: The stratter. There's no exception to that. atmosphere. Imagine. Walk him through the hotel. late at night.

Joseph Skutt: scene picks directly on you. You blink. She's gone. No footsteps. nor door closing. Nothing.
Joseph Skutt: Just an empty hallway. And perhaps... the strangest part. you later discover. and nobody mentioned her description.
Joseph Skutt: has ever stayed on your floor.
Joseph Skutt: one of the most fascinating things about the Hana historic hotels is that the supernatural stories often seen connected to the building's past.
Joseph Skutt: You don't just hear random noise. is... According to legend, you hear things. That seemed to belong. in another time. Music.
Joseph Skutt: Laughter. Voices. footsteps. A distant train. door opening. At last breaking.
Joseph Skutt: For a moment It's as the hotel. isn't simply a building. Yes. every hoarding. a place where the past has somehow left.
Joseph Skutt: and an impression. and occasionally someone claims to hear. that the impressions Imagine Stanin. alone. inside the hotel.
Joseph Skutt: The clock reads. to 17. in the morning Then faintly... Here. Piano music.
Joseph Skutt: you walked. towards it. the music. gets louder. Turn the Horror.
Joseph Skutt: and The music stops.
Joseph Skutt: You. look into the empty room. There's nothing there but the piano. is still moving. one key than another.
Joseph Skutt: then silence.
Joseph Skutt: every haunted hotel. seemed to have a story. about someone. Who? never truly left. The strata is no different.
Joseph Skutt: The legends. grow from a simple An unsetting idea. What if there is some? of the hotel's former guests.
Joseph Skutt: are still wandering its halls. today. Think about it. The number of people. who have passed through those doors.
Joseph Skutt: since eighteen 87. Thousands. upon thousands. upon thousands of people. who come to Durango for business.
Joseph Skutt: people traveling west. people worked it in the mind. Thank you. People celebrating. people returning from something.
Joseph Skutt: people searching for something. Some arrive with families. others. just arrived down on their own. alone. And so...
Joseph Skutt: Never make it home.
Joseph Skutt: over more than a century. countless lives. interested with its building. and it's It is here.
Joseph Skutt: We're the legends. Begin.
Joseph Skutt: now Imagine. You're standing in beside an old elevator. It's late. Very late.
Joseph Skutt: The lobby is... nearly empty. You press the button. Bingo!
Joseph Skutt: Doors open. He stepped inside. Press your floor. The doors closed. a winner begins to rise. First floor.
Joseph Skutt: Second. floor. Third floor. And... It stops. Ding! The doors open.
Joseph Skutt: Nobody's standing outside. You wait. The door is... to close. then. A hand appears. between them.
Joseph Skutt: The Doors. reopen again. but There's no person. Nothing. You stare into a hallway.
Joseph Skutt: empty. The doors. Close again. The elevator begins moving. Then you feel something or someone.
Joseph Skutt: standing behind you. you can sense them. You don't want to turn around.
Joseph Skutt: But eventually... You do. Nothing. the elevator reaches your floor. Ding! The door opens.
Joseph Skutt: You step out. and just before the doors close. You hear a voice behind you.
Joseph Skutt: Maybe the ghosts aren't we Maybe they are. But there is another explanation for white places. It's a straddler.
Joseph Skutt: feel so different. His story. has weight. Walk through a modern hotel you may see a the polished floors.
Joseph Skutt: televisions. Phones. And bright lights. Walked through a historic hotel and you're surrounded by evidence. that people live differently.
Joseph Skutt: The wood has been touched by thousands of hands. the stairs have been carried generations of footsteps The doors.
Joseph Skutt: have opened. It closed. Countless. a countless times. Every room. has a story. and when the building becomes quiet.
Joseph Skutt: your imagination. begins filling in. The blinks. It's creaky for board. becomes a footstep. a shadow figure becomes real.
Joseph Skutt: a distant voice. comes a whisper. But sometimes... even on the explanation. doesn't completely remove the filling.
Joseph Skutt: because there are stories. that people remember. Stories. Thank you. Repeated. stories. that become part of the identity.

Joseph Skutt: Imagine yourself standing at the strata. Your final night. Yeah. heard all the stories.

Joseph Skutt: than other footsteps. You're coming from They're coming from the hallway. You sit up. The footsteps stop.
Joseph Skutt: You wait. nothing
Joseph Skutt: He lay back down, thinking nothing of it. then You hear your... door handle No.
Joseph Skutt: slowly very slowly. You're handled. turns.
Joseph Skutt: you stare. The door doesn't open. The handle. Returns to its formal position You breathe again.
Joseph Skutt: And then... You hear the footsteps again. But this time... They're inside the room.
Joseph Skutt: one footstep. Two footsteps. Three footsteps. They're moving. towards the bed. You pulled the blankets over yourself.
Joseph Skutt: the footsteps. Stop. Silence. then. Fill the mattress. Thank you. sync Right beside you.
Joseph Skutt: Something. has just sat down.
Joseph Skutt: Stradler Hotel. has stood. in Durango. for more than one simple more than a century. generations have walked through its doors The world outside has changed.
Joseph Skutt: Technology. has changed. transportation. has changed. Even people. have changed. but The hotel.
Joseph Skutt: remain. So, still standing. Still watching. still carrying the echoes from the past.
Joseph Skutt: Are the stories true? Are they really spirits? wandering the hallways. are the unexplained footsteps evidence of the dead Or...

Joseph Skutt: but there is something strangely beautiful about the possibility. Because if ghosts exist... then maybe...
