Speaker
D20 radio, your game is roll.
00:01:12
Speaker
Hello and welcome to Ever Under New, an actual play podcast set in the Eberron campaign setting. I'm your game master, Eric. I'm Phillip. I'm Randy.
00:01:21
Speaker
And that's everyone. If you're confused, go listen to last week's episode. So yeah, we are catching up with Eris and Milo and their meetings that they need to take.

Eris's Secret Plans

00:01:39
Speaker
I'm going to ask you all because they answered it last time in a very interesting way, but what happened last time from your perspective?
00:01:49
Speaker
The very last time the last time you played Boy V go took a beating. Yeah, we kidnapped V go and beat the crap out of him Yep, got lots of information out of him Which was recorded session And Have given or are planning to give Those recordings to various
00:02:19
Speaker
her synergies of importance. And now Eris is gonna try and, I don't know what exactly try and. She's got Viggo and she's meeting a cop. And that's about as far as the plan has gotten so far. Well, and leave Milo and Hob alone.
00:02:44
Speaker
Well, maybe. Yes. Sure. Well, importantly, Eris does not know where they're going. So if Verla asks, no deception checks needed. And for our listeners... Leave them alone in regards to

Family Tensions and Missions

00:02:59
Speaker
a murder.
00:02:59
Speaker
Yeah, and in that vein, on the previous episode of Ever Unrenewed, Reynard took one of those recordings to his family and discovered that there is a lot of tension now with House Thrawny having successfully pulled off a hit in the City of Sharn against one of the most powerful members of the city.
00:03:20
Speaker
So House Fierlyn is ramping up to deal with that and in whatever way they're going to require Reynard's help because Reynard has been fully accepted back into the fold. Additionally, Hobb Witten met with D'Orla and found out that the true nature of D'Orla's mission and she's trying to prevent the rising of an overlord. Spoilers, it's a demon.
00:03:53
Speaker
And yeah, so went over the fragment of the draconic prophecy that applies to their current situation and asked Hob to help, please. So that's where we left off. So we're going to pick up with Eris. Eris took off with Vigo. What? Oh, no. Oh, I don't know what that face is already right now. Now it's all starting to click.
00:04:20
Speaker
Cause we've got the, Oh, who was it that came and was hunting, looking for demons with us and gave his life. Go Renak. And now that's not right. The other one is here. The giants of Russia main storage. Oh yeah. That name does not sound right. Whoever it was that gave his life to save us.

Eris's Emotional Struggles

00:04:44
Speaker
And now his, his other one is here. Whatever that name is. Yeah.
00:04:50
Speaker
hunting data uh... honest-to-god randy i thought your computer had exploded with the look on your face you which is uh... their deck for room for room that's it for room so uh... yes
00:05:22
Speaker
Faroo, uh, Dorla picked up where Faroo left off. Indeed, Randy. Um, so picking up with Eris, who has just taken off, uh, in Tasha with Vigo and a recording you, you made a copy of yourself. Correct. Okay. Yep. Um, headed to the four sales for a meeting with Verla. Hmm.
00:05:46
Speaker
Anything that Eris is doing on the drive over, Vigo is half incapacitated. He's very groggy and not vocal right now. Uh, a lot of talking to herself. Um, uh, probably at some point crying. Um, uh, at some point she punches Vigo again, uh, in the hopes that that will help. Um, no.
00:06:16
Speaker
Well, maybe, but not sufficiently. But eventually arriving outside her old bedroom window, which is how she enters. Vigo takes down one of the wall panels and stuffs Vigo in one of her hidey holes.
00:06:46
Speaker
Um, and then, uh, seals the wall panel back over him. Um, and then sits down, uh, in a corner and calls all. Okay. All of picks up the communicator. I'm sounding very tired, but not like you woke her up. Just Hey, Eris. Um, hi.
00:07:17
Speaker
I'm about to do something. I'm gonna talk to the watch.
00:07:28
Speaker
OK. I don't know how that's going to go. I've got I think something they want and maybe that takes care of this sort one piece of this. I don't know, but I don't know. I you know, is. I guess at least possible that I just get arrested. Something bad happened.
00:08:01
Speaker
And some people are trying to blame us and we actually didn't do it. And I'm just trying to deal with that. So I'm going to try and make a deal. Okay.

Eris's Strategic Moves

00:08:23
Speaker
Um,
00:08:28
Speaker
I told you your brothers may be in danger. I said that last time when I called you. Yeah. Okay. Uh, he's, he's here. He's fine. Um, okay. Uh, if, if you need to hide at the cauldron, um, then tell, tell Ygric, um, Erie, uh, and then he'll kill anything that comes through the door.
00:08:58
Speaker
Okay. Ah, it's a lockdown mode. Yeah. Guess that's it. All right, well, be safe, and if there's anything I can do, call me. Okay.
00:09:26
Speaker
I'll try if I can. Bye. Talk to you later. OK. And the communicator goes quiet. She sets Tasha on her bed and says. If anything comes out of that wall. You make a racket and come to come from tell me.
00:09:59
Speaker
Um, and then she makes sure that the wall is properly locked. Um, uh, yes. And then I guess she goes and, um, Hmm.
00:10:28
Speaker
It's probably a really bad idea to have this conversation in a bar. She goes downstairs and finds Ulfin. I says, Hey, Ulfin. She says coming down the stairs, having not come through the front door. Oh, hi, Eris. You okay? No.
00:10:57
Speaker
Um, that watch officer, um, more Dane, she's going to be here, uh, looking for me. Yeah. She's been sticking her nose around here. Yeah. She's going to come looking for me and I need to have a conversation with her, but I think it's probably not. Well,
00:11:26
Speaker
I don't know. She looks around the bar. Are there more people in the bar? I mean, this is isn't, doesn't often pay protection money to the clan. Yeah, he pays protection money. Um, there's, well, I mean, I don't know. Is there any bormar people? Is there anyone in for sales right now?
00:11:53
Speaker
I will give you a story point and say there are no Boromar clan personnel in the bar at the moment. I just need to talk to her. Nothing. I'm not going to break anything. Good. Just for some reason, if for some reason I can't.
00:12:21
Speaker
If you go upstairs to my room, I've locked a halfling in one of it. Oh, right. I made a bunch of removable panels in the walls of that room to store things on the left side of the room.
00:12:40
Speaker
There's a panel that you can take down. There's a there's a rune scratched in the top left corner of the panel. And if you push your hand against it and just push, then the panel will just come loose and you can just set it down. There's a there's a halfling tied up and unconscious in behind the panel. Oh, I don't.
00:13:08
Speaker
Do you want to know the answer to that if you don't have to? I tell you but you know it's not a very comfortable truth.
00:13:23
Speaker
Uh, I mean, if I'm comfortable, not knowing, but now I'm not. If I go out, like if I go out and handcuffs, then I guess you don't really have to cover for me anymore. In which case you should go upstairs and rescue him and get some sort of reward. Uh, it'll be great. Um, is he's a tart, but you know, he might reward someone who rescued him. Um, but ideally I want to give him to the watch tonight.
00:13:52
Speaker
That's, that's sort of the ideal plan. Right. Um, you know what? It's just, well, you know, if you could get him out and just toss him off a tower, that'd be okay too. Probably not going to do that Harris, but, uh, I'll, I'll let it be a surprise. Okay. Um, do you need me for anything with this meeting?
00:14:26
Speaker
I don't think so. Right. It's pretty late. I was thinking about closing up soon so I could go ahead and lock up when they get here. Probably be OK. All right. I don't know. Thanks for. Know everything. Of course.
00:14:58
Speaker
Don't know why you're in the spot that you're in right now, but. Boy, that's just like a lengthy train of events and choices. I. Well. I'm here. If when I was in a worse spot when you found me so.
00:15:29
Speaker
Fair. Okay. I'm gonna go sit in my booth and wait.

Eris's Past and Comfort

00:15:38
Speaker
All right. Do you want anything to eat? Drink. I should not drink. I drank a lot earlier today and I should not drink anymore.
00:15:51
Speaker
Should probably eat something. If there's like some bread or something, that would be, that would be okay. I'll get something for you. Okay. This goes in. Sits in her booth, pulls out a, something she's, a schematic she's been fiddling with.
00:16:13
Speaker
During her early days. In the for sales. What was the thing that Eris would ask often to make when she was feeling particularly low? Like the comfort of comfort foods. This probably. Like this.
00:16:47
Speaker
It's probably like this cornbread that her mom made that's like a recipe Eris remembers. I figure with the number of ranks she has in alchemy, she's probably a decent cook. Fair enough. It's probably something like that. It's cornbread, but it's actually just cake. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:17:16
Speaker
Um, so, uh, after a couple of minutes, uh, open walks over to your booth with, uh, a hot mug of towel and a plate with the cornbread on it and slides it. Tell us, tell us T right. Yes. Yeah. Uh, Eris like,
00:17:47
Speaker
Comes very close to losing her composure. And then this manages. Thanks. Thanks. That smells great. And Ulfin kind of smirks and says, give him hell. And gives Eris a wink before he walks back to the bar.

Confrontation in the Bar

00:18:07
Speaker
after a sufficient number of minutes for Aeris to enjoy the cornbread and regain some composure. The jingle jingle of the bells on the door ring and you see Verla enter with another figure with her who's kind of standing behind her and like looking before entering. Recognized. And Verla.
00:18:36
Speaker
Verla kind of waves and begins walking over as this figure kind of moves to step inside and you see a look of recognition on their face as well as you recognize the figure with a slight alteration. You recognize Cephas Coldor. Eris just slides her hands into a sort of folded and just warms up the
00:19:05
Speaker
Leschette launcher on her wrist. The one notable difference about Agent Koldor that you immediately notice, Eris, is the upper quarter of his face. You can tell that there's a bit of scarring around the edges and there's a ruined metallic plate with a metallic eye.
00:19:31
Speaker
with a small emerald set into the center of it that moves like it's functional, but clearly that was not there the last time you saw him. And he... You see the initial look of recognition, but then Kolder very quickly... It subsides and he continues walking over as... Eris had on goggles and a scarf.
00:19:58
Speaker
when she met Koldor. And yes, the goggles and scarf are currently on her person and visible, but she was definitely in her crime disguise, Eric. Fair enough, fair enough. So.
00:20:18
Speaker
So, Verla, it's a booth, you said, or is it a table? Yeah, it's a booth. The look on Aeros' face is not in the least bit subtle, and it says lots of things to Verla that are not super kid-friendly. Verla kind of puts her hands up in a submissive pacifying gesture, like a
00:20:39
Speaker
I know, I know. And she slides into the booth as Coldor slides in next to her. Hi, Eris. No, I said. Your call came through while I was in Agent Coldor's office and he insisted on meeting you, like I said. Nobody here has any intention of arresting you, which was the promise.
00:21:15
Speaker
Well, you, because I trust you. I know. Oh, you. And that's why I did it this way, Eris. Agent Coldor offered to use his notable skills to obscure his presence here. And I thought that would be a greater breach of trust than being forthright at the beginning of the meeting.
00:21:49
Speaker
So we've heard about what remind me what you said on your call with Verla. I'm trying to remember my head boy.
00:22:05
Speaker
my memory of it is essentially that she informed, I can't remember if Verla already knew this, but Eris told Verla that Satan was dead and that she had either information or had the person responsible or something like that. She basically, I have this, it's bigger than
00:22:34
Speaker
than what you're currently worried about. Yeah. And thanks to Laura, they have a recap of Eris' conversation with Verla on the Wiki ever on a crew. Magnificent. So thank you, Laura.

Revealing the Truth

00:22:48
Speaker
So yeah, you said that you have evidence and a valuable criminal for her and that you have the recorded conversation summarizing what was said, but Verla wanted to face to face with you. So Verla is pretty well to know about what's going on.
00:23:07
Speaker
So where's the recording? I want him to sit at the bar. Cold or kind of.
00:23:31
Speaker
All right. And he gets up and slides out of the booth and walks over and sits. He makes firm and long eye contact with Ulfin. As soon as Sifitz gets to the bar, he sits on the bar stool and then pivots around and is looking at Verla and Eris talking, but he's at the bar. Maybe this is big. I would like to give you a story point.
00:24:02
Speaker
Okay. And say that Verla speaks goblin and, and Koldor doesn't. Okay. Yeah, that's fine. Uh, uh, Eris looks at Koldor, looks back to Verla and then
00:24:33
Speaker
switches into goblin. Is he trustworthy? Verlet. It's taken aback for a second and
00:24:46
Speaker
Clearly, she's nose goblin, but it's not a second link. Eris is fluent. So, really responds in kind. I genuinely think so. I think that he is an agent for justice in this city. You've been
00:25:19
Speaker
I owe you a debt of honor because you've been straight with us. You do your duty. You don't, you're not on the take, not you've been straight with us. And as far as I can tell you straight with everyone, thank you.
00:25:58
Speaker
Vigo Boromar killed Sidon. He did it with the help of House Tharoni. Okay. You're investigating the death of a Tharoni agent.
00:26:29
Speaker
who had been trying to murder Milo for a while now. I don't really know why. I don't know what's between the Thrawny and the Clan. I just... it's above my head.
00:26:57
Speaker
but Vigo Boromar had Satan murdered by the Ronnie Assassins. That's what I have recorded. I have his fairly detailed description of that plan and his intentions and his goals and I have Vigo
00:27:28
Speaker
Where is Vigo? For what it says, eyeing around. It's actually really, really high on my wish list that I give him to you at the end of this conversation. But like at the end of this conversation, I think. Fair enough. What do you want in exchange
00:28:00
Speaker
Guess short immediate goal is. I'd like. Very much like you to back off of my class. That. Whatever. Whatever happened.
00:28:30
Speaker
small compared to this and compared to what's about to happen. Yeah, that's very true, given current circumstances. I've had
00:29:01
Speaker
I've had my fellow, uh, members of the watch on my back ever since that murder happened. Um, half of them, uh, encouraging me to just not look into it through Ronnie agent, uh, not worth anything. The other half ensuring me that their context tell them that it was a, an official house dispute between house fear Lynn. But then I have three people.
00:29:32
Speaker
that give really detailed descriptions of the people that did it. So, honestly, Eris, I don't want to investigate it anymore. I know who did it. And like you said, I don't know what the deal is with the clan and Thirani, and I don't much care.
00:30:00
Speaker
If you're willing to give over Vigo and the recording, um, I'm more than happy to withdraw my request for assistance from the King Citadel in investigating the murder and following the leads about them.
00:30:27
Speaker
Eris, every other member in my station is corrupt, apparently. I have no support system anymore. So yeah, I went up. I think it's about to get really, really bad down here.

Clan Dynamics and Alliances

00:30:55
Speaker
I agree, if you would allow me, Agent Coldor has a bit of insight into just how bad things may be about to get, which is another reason why I brought him along. Fine. And Virla looks over her shoulder and kind of jerks her head and Coldor hops up and walks over and
00:31:25
Speaker
sits down. Now I don't speak goblin, so if we could switch back to common, that would be my preference. Try. Now doesn't seem like the most pertinent time. Good to see you again, by the way. And Verla kind of like looks between the two of you at that.
00:31:57
Speaker
Hello. So, um, Satan Boromar, his passing, uh, is
00:32:14
Speaker
I guess has shot up to the top of the list of concerns of the King Citadel in this city right now. Satan was a calming presence for lack of a better way to put it with the criminal element in the city. And now there's going to be a vacuum, which means a lot of people are going to die. Yeah, I know. We would like to prevent that somehow.
00:32:51
Speaker
How would you do that? Well, first steps would be seeing if we could make contact with somebody with close ties to the organization, made friends that could potentially push things in certain directions in exchange for generous offerings. Well. Yes, just terrible timing.
00:33:22
Speaker
Current play is to blame my costs for Zayden's death. So. Are there people, since obviously this isn't true, based on what you told Detective Mordane here in your call, are there people within the organization outside of your, I'm sorry, what was the costs?
00:33:48
Speaker
It means us, friends, my friends. OK. Are there people within the organization that would believe your innocence? Probably not. I mean, well, maybe. Not important people, I don't think. Maybe some of the
00:34:17
Speaker
Maybe some of the, uh, I want to call them department heads. I don't know what you call the leaders of the various under bosses. Like, yeah. I mean, lieutenants, um, maybe, maybe some of the lieutenants. Well, is just, is this lady really just doesn't like the bora miles at all. So she might, or might not care.
00:34:43
Speaker
Oh, Andy Briar. Yeah, she said this reaches into his coat pulls and the actual family. Starts flipping them. Yeah, and her second in command is Grum, your former boss, correct? Yeah, Grum would believe us.
00:35:08
Speaker
So, so potentially have some inroads to contact within the organization, potentially also, well, I'll just run down the list and you tell me what strikes your fancy. Obviously, Viggo Boromar, head of the Blacklamps, out. Yeah, he's a tot.
00:35:35
Speaker
Uh, lady Briar check. What about Lissa Boromar, Satan's cousin? Did you have any close relationship with her? You did one job kind of for her. She, she oversees the gambling ring, um, the Ravens. And so the shifters were under her domain. I mean, we did, we did work for once, but I don't
00:36:03
Speaker
I don't know her. I guess not. Okay. Um, people don't like warm up to me. I mean, detective more Dane had glowing review of you to give. Really? You, you were cool with that thing with the red cloaks.
00:36:28
Speaker
very kind of shrug. It wasn't your best moment, but like you said about me, I thought it was fantastic. You've proven yourself to be somebody that shoots straight, which goes a long way in my book. OK. All right. What about Nessa, the head of the military or the militant, I guess would be the better term, militant branch of the clan?
00:37:01
Speaker
Where are my notes on that dinner? Hutch's boss, basically. OK. Well. Well, I mean, Hutch and my friend Hogg get along or used to get along, and then, of course, Hutch tried really hard to catch us when we were escaping.
00:37:30
Speaker
like an hour ago and. We shoot him, maybe we shot him. I don't think he's dead, though. Verla kind of chimes in and says, I don't think Nessa is a good Nessa recruits like jaded city watch members for the goals. So I'm sure half of the contacts they have in the watch are from buddies. And so now I think Nessa would be a nonstarter, honestly.
00:37:57
Speaker
and Cold War kind of scratches through a name in his folder. Okay. What are you trying? What is your, what do you want to happen here? Like you want to get in touch with all these people to do what? I'm going to set someone else in charge of the clan. Yeah. Um, we, we have leave it all just comfortable with the crime and violence and all that. It's just,
00:38:28
Speaker
It's like at an acceptable level right now, and as long as somebody can keep it from getting worse, that's. It is. Eris, do you think that there is a. A version of this city that would be crime free. Probably not. There's too many people.
00:38:56
Speaker
So it's, you know, the clan offers structure organization within the city. It provides a method to the madness as opposed to lots of little gangs running around and fighting each other in the streets. Now we have everybody knows that place. Yeah. We have elements like Dask and the tyrants and Tarkan and that obviously yet Dask is messed up.
00:39:26
Speaker
You sounds like you speak you're speaking from a variance in this They were like petrifying people It's real messed up Satan or not Satan Cephas flips to a blank pages folder and starts writing. Okay, what? petrifying people Yeah, you know, so I Heard this thing happened
00:39:56
Speaker
There was a there was a pirate attack on a on a gala. Not long ago. Right. Sure. Do you have a little pirates that attacked a gala? I was at that point. We're not pirates. I mean, well, OK, all from was a pirate, but not anymore. And I never was a pirate. Well, I don't know. I was on his pirate ship for like a month. Anyway, that was not us. We're not pirates, but
00:40:25
Speaker
Verla's like, I know it wasn't you. I was at the party. Right. Yeah. You were at the party. Yeah. Um, yes. Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry. I, he's awful. Yeah. He's just awful. And I'm really sorry. It's okay. It's like, I feel like there's contact awful on me.
00:40:54
Speaker
Um, cool. Anyway, the, the thing, the party was held for like this big statue. Yeah. That was a petrified person, uh, that desk stole. That's why everyone was really unimpressed with this statue because desk stole it the night before, stole the real one the night before. Uh, and that was a petrified like guy, like a, like a pirate captain or something. I don't know. That's what the pirates were there for. I think. And how do you know about this?
00:41:23
Speaker
I work, I've been working for the clan for like a year. Okay. More as just, I don't like a lot of the things the clan does, but desk is something else entirely.
00:41:38
Speaker
Yeah, we are in agreement on that. So our we have people inside the clan, the Citadel, that is, who give us information in exchange for a certain level of protection. So we already have gotten murmurings about what a lira's plans are and they're not good. What are lira's plans?

Inter-house Feuds and Secrets

00:42:01
Speaker
Just because I assume me and my friends being dead is part of that.
00:42:08
Speaker
Oh, it's number one on the list. I mean, bring it might be this sephus does air quotes, bringing the perpetuators of my father's death to justice is the, the
00:42:23
Speaker
I got one of them. So we can work on that for. Yes. But it's more than once again, they're currently meeting right now. They have not stopped talking. So my contacts have been able to get little snippets of information. But she's talking about all out war because
00:42:47
Speaker
they have the books of the jobs that you have done for the clan and it seems as though you have contact with Dask and contact with the tyrants and so they are
00:43:05
Speaker
They are suspects in association with Satan's death that you all were planted in there on their behest. OK, cool. So here's speaking of contacts inside the clan. I guess here's a thing, since I guess I'm just doing honesty in this meeting, apparently.
00:43:35
Speaker
So Salmond Callaway, he's working with House Fearland and was trying to get one of my cast a spy on the clan.
00:43:53
Speaker
because he wants to like, he wants to replace the clan, but he's like, wait, well I don't know where else is right, but he's something different. All the stuff with Milhatch leads back to Callaway and
00:44:14
Speaker
lizard monster that was killing people and the kidnappings of shifters and- There's all sorts of monsters? What? Yeah. Yeah. There's a lizard monster. There's a guy, a tar, really, really hard name to do without re-tardis something. Vitilers? Yeah, that's it. Tardis Vitilers.
00:44:38
Speaker
uh, who worked for the mill hatch industries. I think, uh, he was kidnapping shifters and like he was, he was draining them of, I don't know. I don't know, but he, whatever he did, he experimented on himself and it turned him into a giant lizard monster. Um, and we ran from it. What is happening in your city?
00:45:07
Speaker
It's not her fault. I'm not saying it's her fault. It's just, it's a statement of exasperation. Um, okay. Well, Callaway is connected via mill hatch industries to lots of other bad stuff and also wanted. Oh yeah. Lots of bad stuff. Eyes on the inside. So if there's something weird about him, like he did something, um, is something weird about him. I don't know what he is exactly yet, but he's working for someone and it's not,
00:45:36
Speaker
I don't know, he's got a boss. Okay. Okay. I don't know who, but I've got a letter from him and he's got a boss. Um, cause yeah, that was, I got that. Did I get that at that? Yeah. I got that at the gala too. Um,
00:45:57
Speaker
Okay, Eris, this is all great stuff. It was my understanding that you and Detective Mordane had an arrangement for exchange of the suspect in the Satan murder and the recording that you have. And if that is taken care of, I would like to open up my own
00:46:21
Speaker
negotiation, I suppose, in terms of getting your cooperation in our endeavors with the clan. I would need to know what you want to do. Because it's not stability, I get when I know that place with the clan, but. Look, there's like a lot of
00:46:54
Speaker
Yes, OK, the clan is not the worst of the criminal elements in the city, but I've been doing jobs for the clan for a year now and. Wouldn't say I've made anyone's life better doing it. That was just low down basic misery that the clan causes and supports.
00:47:21
Speaker
I'm not going to dispute that with you. One of the reasons we go. Offed Satan is Satan was trying to. Why stop me and cut this if I just remember this entirely wrong, Satan was trying to take the clan legit. Yeah, I mean, I like he was he was weird and he had meat everywhere, but he was trying to move like.
00:47:50
Speaker
Apparently he was trying to move the clan away from creating low level misery for regular people.
00:48:03
Speaker
I and I wish I wish that Satan border Mar wasn't dead right now. Eris, I genuinely do. But there's nothing that I can do about that. So the best thing that I can try to do is find somebody within the organization whose worldview, goals, ambitions align with what Satan Satan's vision for the future.
00:48:33
Speaker
And how high up do they have to be placed to be useful to you? I. I mean, ideally, somebody steering the ship. We Alira, Alira can't lead the clan. She kind of sounds like it'd be real bad because she wants me to be dead. Obviously, I have recently had lots of reasons to be alive, so.
00:49:01
Speaker
would like to not be dead. Obviously, the Boromar clan has to have a Boromar at the head, though, in order to be a Boromar clan. So we need to find somebody who is able and willing to take up that mantle. All I'm asking of you right now is to

Negotiations and Demands

00:49:25
Speaker
go back in to people that you feel like you can trust and see what your options are. If you come back to me in a week and say, listen, I've talked to everybody, nothing we can do. We can call this even and walk away. You won't get what you want. I won't get what I want. That'll be sad, but everyone will be where we are now. Equally sad.
00:49:50
Speaker
Well, but if you agree to assist me in insofar as you are able, ensuring stability for the clan, then here's where I ask you to name your price. Oh, frack.
00:50:22
Speaker
Usually this is the part where you tell me the thing that you've got like hanging over my head that makes me do what you want. I'm used to this part of a negotiation. OK. I've already got a deal with Verla about my friends and crime and stuff.
00:50:50
Speaker
What crime stuff? And he looks over at Verla. There's an investigation going on that we'll cease. How about, just as a starting point, Eris, for you and your friends, I would need their information in order to make good on this, but criminal records expunged. Any crimes that you committed in the nation of Breeland will be off the records.
00:51:21
Speaker
Okay. It does pretty good. Um, okay. And want, remind me of some things. Okay. Uh,
00:51:45
Speaker
Olive's reason that she had to leave Morgrave. Was it just personal danger? Yes. She was being hunted by Millhatch and the Ram. Right. Um, I want, I want the gates taken down at high, at high walls.
00:52:16
Speaker
Oh, OK. Just. It's awful. I just took a whole bunch of people and dumped them in the neighborhood, put walls around it and decided to just. Leave them there, it wasn't like water or or streetlights or anything before I moved in. OK.
00:52:47
Speaker
I don't. I'm not saying I want. Municipal, whatever. Going around and messing with people's lives down there, I just mean the fact that you lock them in at night is just. It's gross. OK. And Satan.
00:53:14
Speaker
promised my friend Milo that he'd rebuild his bar that got burned down by House Thrawny for some reason. I still don't really get. Oh, no, I do remember that one. It was because that was you. It was because his wife was giving you information. Yeah, I said you're really bad at code names. Took me no time to read through that code.
00:53:51
Speaker
Okay. Um, keg bottoms, keg bottoms back. Okay. Also, um, ous galandas on orphans back. I want that to stop. I'm sorry. Repeat, repeat that. Ous galandas, ous galandas on orphans back and I want that to stop.
00:54:19
Speaker
Okay, that might be tougher, but I will try. This is the pattiest demand list. Aris, how about we put a bow on this with, obviously, even if we do everything we can to stabilize the clan, there will be people that are convinced that you and your friends were actually the ones to set up Vigo, no matter what we tell them. People like Alira will always hold a grudge.
00:54:48
Speaker
So, I can also, if you want, offer you, for lack of a better term, a new life. Wherever you want to go, whoever you want to be. King said it'll be more than happy to
00:55:15
Speaker
pay you a generous stipend, um, to get set up somewhere new and provide all identification papers. And, um, you can say you don't like what the clan does. So obviously this would be an opportunity to no longer need to do the type of things that you need to do when working for the clan.
00:55:39
Speaker
I don't need it to work for the clan for a while now. I'm actually a pretty successful business. Just my friends are stuck. Okay. Just can't leave them, but no, this is my, this is my own people. I care about here. And you could take whoever you want with you. I mean, it's just can't take, it's not Michael.
00:56:09
Speaker
It could be an offer that you make. I'm Generally speaking this is I'm not saying this has to be your situation. I'm just saying generally speaking people who are in situations like yours Enjoy the prospect of a new start a fresh start somewhere else. I
00:56:41
Speaker
This is that. This is that. That's what that's where I am. It's just. So I was before this was just a thousand times worse. This is my fresh start. And it's starting to be less fresh. And OK. This is. This is where I am. So, you know, just don't screw this up and then person in charge will really owe me. OK.
00:57:13
Speaker
So just to make sure that I have it all criminal record expunged for you and your friends. Take down the gates in the city district of High Walls. Rebuild a bar. And try to get House Galanda to cease operations across the street.
00:57:41
Speaker
Um, listen, my plan was to burn it down. So, you know, I just please don't do that, especially now that you've told me that that was your plan. That's what everyone keeps saying. I bring it up. So apparently it's a bad idea. Um, if the last thing that I offered, if any of your associates, your friends would like that option, we can facilitate that.
00:58:07
Speaker
Even if even if you don't leave the city, if you would like a new identity, new identification papers, et cetera, we can do that. OK, it might. What about a first set of identification papers? I don't follow. We talk about that later, I guess that's not.
00:58:35
Speaker
I mean, at no time like the present. Oh, I've never actually had a legal set of relish identification papers. Oh, I have some really good forges. Oh, I see. OK, still doing that really being honest thing here. This is apparently the aftermath of drinking something. I don't know what's. Anyway, yeah, relish citizenship.
00:59:05
Speaker
Well, maybe I just put a pin in that and see whether I'm alive and we've secured it at the end of this. And he flips back to his folder. Like an IOU or something. We can extend that to two of your known associates already, but we could also extend the citizenship offer to him as well. Since he's currently registered as a citizen of Drow, well,
00:59:36
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Yep. Um, if my superiors overheard me say citizenship, people's lives miserable. Okay. Go talk to your people. See if you can find any inroads and he pulls out a card and slides it across the table. This is where you can find me. Um,
01:00:09
Speaker
See, this isn't even encoded. What are you doing? It's a business card, Eris. And also, he kind of looks at Mordane and shuffles out and takes a Mordane. Can you give Eris and I just a moment alone? And really kind of looks at Eris for
01:00:41
Speaker
and she starts to slide out of the booth but is going slow. I don't think there's anything you can say to me that I don't want her to hear. It's my own personal preference. Fine. Vrilla gets up and walks over to the bar. Eris lays her gauntlet on the table facing Cold War.
01:01:12
Speaker
I just want to know. One final question before I cut you loose. Why'd you do it? Friends were in trouble. Your friends were in trouble? They trust you're not. You mean why'd I sell you out? Yes. Friends were in danger.
01:01:44
Speaker
Seemed like a way to get out. OK. And Cold War kind of taps the business card. That's a really good eye, by the way. Thanks. Probably make it better, though. You want. I'm really good at it. Cheap person to hand.
01:02:13
Speaker
Nice. Get along really well with business car. Get along really well with someone I know. They took care of this for me, but contact me as soon as you can.

Securing the Deal

01:02:27
Speaker
And Cold War turns and walks over to Verla and taps her on the shoulder and gestures to the door. And they walk. You don't want the person. Oh, Verla stops like.
01:02:43
Speaker
Yes, we want the person. Okay. Um, and she gets up, leads them upstairs. Uh, it looks over, turn around and they both kind of sigh as they turn their backs to Eris pushes the button. The hand, the panel pops off the wall. It was just that serious. I would say to da.
01:03:11
Speaker
And yet you still said it. As Koldor turns around. Oh, good. He's tied up. Yeah, well, of course. And where's the also fell down several slight flights of stairs? I'm sure he did. Eris Verla walks up and goes to pick, pick Vigo up off the floor. Vigo's regained more consciousness. Recording, please. And Verla holds her hand out. Right. Eris fishes around in her pockets and finds the
01:03:41
Speaker
spell shard drops it into her hand. And then Eris leans down over Viggo and says, do you remember when you asked if things would be easier if I only had one hand? She gestures with the gauntlet in front of him and then punches him one more time. Okay, Eris, that's not... Some things, yes.
01:04:11
Speaker
Okay, let's go. And she hoists Vigo up and leads him down the stairs. I swear, if he ends up on the streets again... Listen, he's in the custody of the King Citadel now, so... That's fantastic. And if he ends up on the streets again, I'm not turning him over. I'm killing him. Please don't, now that you've told me that's your intention. And Koldor turns and goes to walk down the street. Make sure he doesn't end up on the streets.
01:04:41
Speaker
Don't kill him. Make sure he doesn't end up on the straights. Don't kill him. Um. Freaking taunt. Okay. It's the next morning. Oh, man. You know, no. No, it's not.
01:05:02
Speaker
How am I gonna follow that? That was so much fun. Splendidly, Randy. You're gonna follow that? Splendidly. Gonna listen to Phillip and then they're gonna listen to me. Okay, so where did Milo... I was so waiting for Eris to pull out her business card and say here. Cauldron. It's a hologram. Okay, Randy, so where did Milo end up crashing last night?

Milo's Schemes and Revelations

01:05:32
Speaker
Uh, he, he, he went to a fairly decent hotel and spent the evening. Uh, under the name, Mr. Underhill. Yeah, sure. Um, okay. So you wake up the next morning, Milo, uh, having enjoyed the comforts of a decent hotel, um, as much as you could enjoy the comforts, uh, with everything going on. Uh, so what, what's Milo doing?
01:06:02
Speaker
Well, he's planning to take his shard to give it to Torvald. Torvald, I guess. It's Torvald, Torvald. Okay. Now does he know, does he know we're like
01:06:25
Speaker
where Tarvel would be at any particular time. I mean, they operate out of the docks, so obviously that would be a place to go find him. You have access to the mask spells, so you can make yourself appear not as Milo to be able to... Oh yeah, yes, that was definitely the plan. Can you appear as the ghost of Sam Boromar?
01:06:51
Speaker
Oh, I have a mind to be able to do. Avenge me, but not on my load. Now remind me of our interactions with Tarvel, I mean. Okay, so you all met Tarvel during a job before you all went into the fallen district.
01:07:16
Speaker
Well, you met him at the party, but then your first contact on the job was when you were being sent into the fallen district to hunt down House Tarkannon because the ledger was stolen. And then you got contacted by Satan to go do a job for Tarvel that Satan didn't know about because Tarvel knows that Satan trusted you, so Tarvel trusted you. You went and got the teleportation batteries so that he could reset up his hidey hole with his wife, Erin, in the Dreadhold.
01:07:46
Speaker
Um, and then when things went bad last night, he, uh, much to your surprise telepathically spoke to you because you didn't know that he could do that. So yeah.
01:08:01
Speaker
Um, is, could I assume that Milo is, was at least a little acquainted with him before that time? Milo's been in the clean a long time. Uh, you may even have known Aaron, uh, Satan's sister via keg bottoms. Yeah. Um, how many story points do you have? So, uh, Philip, you're muted, but I know you're what you're saying. So.
01:08:31
Speaker
We have one, because I'm a human. Yes, Eris is using her once per session power. So you have one story point. One story point. Um... Provided I actually get to Tarvel and get to speak with Tarvel, could I use the story point to say that
01:09:06
Speaker
The Tarble was a regular at keg bottoms. Okay. And Milo was in the habit of gifting regulars, especially those in the Boromars.
01:09:27
Speaker
like bottles of their favorite alcohol. Sure. And that he was a fan of Fireburst wine. Oh God, yeah. Outstanding. The Arcanics, the Arcanics, that he was a fan of that. And that's what Milo would always gift him.
01:09:55
Speaker
And if it's not, if I'm not pushing my luck too much with the story point that that was, that will be Milo's basically in with him to at least get him talking. Cause it sounds like he's kind of pretty much on our side and wants to believe in us anyway. Okay. So what's your plan to get to Tarble? Yeah, see, I could have used a story point for that. Well, you can cast mask on yourself. Um,
01:10:23
Speaker
Yeah, well that's, I'm definitely going to try to do that. I mean, is that, that should be an easy thing to do. Yes, it is an easy check. If you wanted to add realism to it, that would bump it up to a three purple difficulty.
01:10:45
Speaker
making it a hard discipline check to see through it, but you don't have to. You could just go with the easy if you want. Yeah, I think I'll do the easy. Make that purple or red because I'm going to spend a story point to bump it up just to give you all story point back. So that's one red. Just one red.
01:11:15
Speaker
and also um I mean I would like to try to approach him when like Milo's gonna kind of keep an eye out and try to approach when there are like the fewest amount of people around
01:11:32
Speaker
I mean, docs are docs are really busy in the morning. I mean, it's it's a bit busy, but like maybe he's in his office or something. I don't know. What I'm saying is people are really busy so they don't have time to be looking around in the morning. Right. So there's there's not a small amount of people, but they're all doing something. Right. And who is Milo? Who does look like?
01:11:59
Speaker
Um, Ray not turn, but no, um, Milo looks like a fairly well to do halfling there on potentially business. Okay.
01:12:17
Speaker
um okay and are you stopping to pick up a bottle of fireburst wine on the way or um yeah and milo's thought is that that's that's going to be the tip off to tarvel to know that
01:12:32
Speaker
that he knows it's me. Okay, so you have the bottle of a Fireburst wine and you're approaching Pure Lad's HQ. Yeah, it's really busy. People are running around all over the place with smuggling shipments coming in, et cetera. Yeah, that's for success to advantage in a triumph on your casting of mask on yourself. So you look extremely convincing.
01:13:01
Speaker
What would you like to do with the triumph? Oh man, okay That I'm thinking okay, he's gonna get That he will be receptive. I mean like he won't feel obligated like
01:13:29
Speaker
okay I'm on your side but I still gotta I still gotta turn you over right because I don't know if he's gonna feel like he has to I mean he said get away I'm just torn he said get away so maybe he won't turn us over turn me over so oh gosh
01:13:57
Speaker
he's gonna get the shard how about could it be something in the future to that more people will be one to our side or or maybe it will be easier for how about it will be easier for us to find a Boromar replacement uh... i'm goodness too big an ass i'm gonna say no to that because that
01:14:25
Speaker
It would be wasteful. OK, give me a name of who you want on your side within the clan, Milo. Other than Alira, she's off limits. You got Lissa, Satan's cousin, Lady Briar, Grum's already on your side. Hutch. I'm thinking I'm thinking
01:14:54
Speaker
Yeah, I like that. Lady Briar, that she will be more in tune with helping within the clan rather than in helping Reynard's family and connections.
01:15:14
Speaker
All right, so to advantage we can just give you a couple boosts. Do you have strain that you need to heal? No, you just slept so you don't have any strain. So yeah, we'll just move a couple boosts down the line.
01:15:32
Speaker
Okay so you walk up you see that Tarvel's office door is shut but he has kind of the big windows in his office where he can look out and see what's happening on the floor and stuff like that so you can see that Tarvel is at his desk looking over some paperwork and nobody else is in his office right now.
01:15:57
Speaker
Okay. Uh, Milo taps on the window. Come in. Oh, good. Milo enters. Uh, Tarvel kind of looks at you confused. Uh, can I help you, sir? Uh,
01:16:17
Speaker
Well, I certainly hope so, Tarvel. And he walks over and from within his robes, he pulls out the Fireburst wine. You see Tarvel's eyes go wide for a second as he kind of leaps out of his chair and goes over and pulls a curtain shut on his window and turns to you and like. Is it you?
01:16:46
Speaker
Yes, it most definitely is. Drop the facade then. Well, I don't think anybody will walk in upon us. And he walks over with his ring of keys and puts a key in the keyhole. Not anymore. Milo drops the facade. Sovereigns, Milo, what are you doing here?
01:17:17
Speaker
Well, as you know, we we took your advice and got away as quick as possible. And we took somebody with us. Yes. What are you thinking? You realize how that looks. Well, yes, I do. But, you know, it's I everything was happening so fast, I didn't even realize exactly what was happening. Yes, it was happening so fast. You all took the opportunity to take a parting gift with you.
01:17:49
Speaker
Yes, well, we took that gift, Tarvel, because we had a very strong idea that that gift was behind the assassination of Satan. And he pulls out the shard, and we have a full confession right here.
01:18:16
Speaker
Now, I'm sure Viggo will shout up and down that he was coerced, and I will not deny that he looks a little worse for wear. But, honestly, after he admitted fully that he had burned my bar and killed Kylie and had tried to kill me, I almost went ahead and killed him myself, if not for my friends.
01:18:46
Speaker
Now he will say that he was coerced but he goes into so much blabbing and so much detail of things that some things we didn't even ask and he had details on so many things that it is obvious blatantly obvious that he is guilty. Is it obvious that he's guilty or is it clear that he's did he confess to killing Satan?
01:19:17
Speaker
Yes, he absolutely did. He hired Thirani. As a matter of fact, one of
01:19:26
Speaker
my friend's dagger that was in Seiden was stolen by Okan, his cousin. Don't know who that is, but okay. Well, Viggo is working with the Therani because according to him Seiden had become weak and wanted to tow the line and I guess take the family on the straight and narrow and Viggo saw an opportunity to
01:19:56
Speaker
basically be the next in line. And he was upset because Satan had taken away his power within the clan. What do you mean Satan took away his power within the clan? He was head of the black lamps. No longer.
01:20:18
Speaker
Could you elaborate? I mean, that's right. That's correct, isn't it? Yes, but Tarvel is asking you to elaborate. Right, right. Well, Vigo is somewhat of a very loose cannon that Vigo does. I'm aware. It's pretty much what Vigo wants to do when Vigo wants to do it.
01:20:42
Speaker
Perhaps Sadan was able to put, let me back up just a little bit. I had given Sadan a journal. Pause. What did you mean when you said Sadan took away Viggo's power? That's all I'm asking.
01:21:02
Speaker
Well, he, he's took away his power as leader of the Black Lapse. Vigo would no longer be in charge of the Black Lapse. And gave it to who? This was not communicated to any of us. Well, he, oh, oh, very well. Well, my understanding is that it was given to my friends and I.
01:21:29
Speaker
And Tarvel kind of leans back in his chair and rubs his eyes with the heels of his hands. Yes, we would get to basically, I guess, receive missions and choose the ones we would wish to go on and divvy out the rest. Okay.
01:21:50
Speaker
So Vigo had a definite axe to grind. Let me hear the confe- whatever you got it on, let me hear it. Well, here's the shard. And listens to the recording.
01:22:10
Speaker
Okay, um, yeah, Viggo's definitely gonna try to claim to anybody that'll listen to him that you all forced him to say those things, but, um, I... I believe that you had nothing to do with Satan's death, Milo. I believe that none of you did. Absolutely not. You know how I've... Yes, especially, you know how I felt about Satan. I would not have allowed my friends to do any harm, and they would not wish any harm.
01:22:40
Speaker
Me more than anybody believes that Vigo is capable of doing something like this. It's not the first time he's killed someone without thinking about the consequences. Milo, we're in trouble.
01:23:08
Speaker
you more than me, but we're all in trouble. Next week, Alira is going to announce that she is stepping down from the Sharn City Council to focus on her family and her family's enterprises, and she's going to formally take over leadership at the Klan. Right now, we're just doing things by committee, which is going about as well as you can imagine.
01:23:36
Speaker
Um, but Alira has big plans for what she's going to do to you and your friends.

Family Ties and Future Plans

01:23:49
Speaker
Well, that's not, not good news at all. She will not listen to reason, I assume. Um, no, uh, she, she will just hand wave this evidence away as you all
01:24:04
Speaker
immediately after committing the crime kidnapping them over the family and then coercing them into confessing to the crime that you all just committed. Which, if I didn't know you all, would not be the most unbelievable story in the world.
01:24:22
Speaker
I, um, Milo, I haven't always been, um, 100%. I don't want to say honest, open, I guess is the better way to put it.
01:24:38
Speaker
the time that you got to know myself and Aaron, obviously keg bottoms, we would come there on clan business. We wouldn't, you know, we obviously wouldn't bring the family along. My parents would watch Corin when we would go out to deal with family stuff. And it's been a pretty well kept secret over the years that Corin's not our only kid. That
01:25:09
Speaker
Uh, Vigo was also Aaron and I's son. We disowned him, did our best to separate ourselves from him, but obviously he's a member of the family, so. Oh. Terribly sorry about, about everything. No. Gulp.
01:25:34
Speaker
You know how Aaron was sent to the Dreadhold because she killed two dark lanterns? Yes. A mother's love will make her do some really stupid stuff sometimes. I can definitely understand wanting to do stupid things.
01:26:01
Speaker
Um, yeah, I wish I would have told you this sooner so you could have gotten a confession out of the little rat's mouth when you had him, but, um, no, Aaron covered for Vigo. Um, Vigo found out that there were a couple of halfling plants in the clan and
01:26:23
Speaker
took care of them himself. Then Aaron took credit for it to keep Vigo safe and is now in the dreadhold for it. Much to Vigo Shugrin, by the way, he was really hoping that they would just kill her so that there wouldn't be anybody that knew the truth.
01:26:46
Speaker
I wish there was a way we could rescue her from there, but after all it is the Dreadhold. After all it is the Dreadhold. How stupid are you feeling, Milo? Well...
01:27:12
Speaker
After everything that's gone on this past year with losing Kylie, losing the bar, my friends and all the danger we've been in, the things that we've been through and seen, and... Olive going through things she's had to go through, which you probably don't know her, but just another friend. It's... I've been through so many foolish things. I don't know if I know any better anymore.
01:27:43
Speaker
Well, I sent Missive to Aaron about what's going on to ask her to tell me what to do because I sure as hells don't know what to do anymore.
01:28:07
Speaker
I always admired her intelligence. She was, she's just amazing. Yeah. Smart, compassionate. Um, always tried to do the best that she could. And I.
01:28:27
Speaker
With everything happening with Alira, she wants to go after Dask and the Tyrants and Tarkanan, and she wants to declare war on everyone else in the city, Milo. And I don't want to let that happen. Sounds rash. She's a little heated right now with her dad dying and all.
01:28:55
Speaker
And she's convinced that you all were allies of Dask or the tyrants or someone else in the city that you all weren't operating independently. So.
01:29:10
Speaker
I have this and Tarble reaches under his desk and plops down a pretty long roll of parchment and begins to unfurl it.

Tarvel's Personal Quest

01:29:26
Speaker
And it is a rough, the roughest of sketches of the Dreadhold.
