Absolute Universe Comics Discussion

00:01:26
Speaker
Hey, what's happening? What's going on, man? Not much. Yeah, not much. room Not much here. Beautiful. oil Beautiful. Absolute Catwoman has arrived, so yeah.
00:01:36
Speaker
Oh, nice. yep Yeah, we're going to break down the Absolute Universe eventually, probably in the fall, i would guess, yeah once you're done working. I want to know more about it. Yeah, once I'm catching up. I'm catching up on Flash, Martian Manhunter, and Catwoman just came out. Green Arrow just started, so it's been a great ride so far, and I can't wait to get into more of them.
00:01:58
Speaker
What's on the horizon going forward for the next six months? Is there a Justice League comic coming? coming To my knowledge, i'm not sure. There's always like runs, obviously. um Right.
00:02:10
Speaker
But I'm not 100% sure. I'm pretty much paying attention to the absolute stuff, and I'm like rereading like i'm still rereading a Woman of Tomorrow to get ready for the movie. Stuff like that. so Yeah.
00:02:23
Speaker
Cool.

Knicks vs Celtics Game Recap

00:02:24
Speaker
Well, you had an executive decision that we're going to do a T-Tree Sports last week. Yes. We missed it, but I'm glad we waited because there's a lot of shit that happened in the and NBA this week. and An incredible game two nights ago that I missed the second half completely because I was too tired stay As did I. um Let's get into a T-Tree Sports. Let's go.
00:02:46
Speaker
Let's do this.
00:02:50
Speaker
This is the theme to teach race sports. We need a theme for teach race sports. I couldn't think of anything that would be original. I stole this instrumental from the Gary Shanley show.
00:03:01
Speaker
This is the theme to teach race sports.
00:03:08
Speaker
This is the theme to teach race sports.
00:03:12
Speaker
I stayed up until halftime, realized that Wu-Tang wasn't going to be shown on the television, and I fell asleep. I did not watch it at that time. And at that time, um the Knicks were way down.
00:03:25
Speaker
I think they said it was, there's no way, um no way to come back from a deficit this bad. It only happened a couple of times. I think Celtics has won, right? And, yeah, what happened, Kevin? Celtics is now number two, yes.
00:03:38
Speaker
Yeah, what happened? Well, for me, I smoked some beautiful ribs last Friday. They came out. Oh, yeah. And so i was like, I'll go home. I'll eat the rest of my ribs, watch the game.
00:03:50
Speaker
I get home after work, and it's like midway through the second quarter, I think, or maybe the end of the first. And they were down like 21. And so I ate a few ribs, and I'm like, you know what? My phone's going to alert me if this game comes close. So I threw on some YouTube, so I watched some YouTube videos.
00:04:06
Speaker
My phone never went off. Usually, like, with two minutes left in the game, if it's close. I get fucking MLS alerts. I've watched, like, three MLS games in the last 20 years. Didn't alert me. Wow. So I checked Facebook around, don't know, 11, 30, 12.
00:04:19
Speaker
And somebody was like, greatest comeback haveve ever seen. Next, blah, blah. I'm like, they got to be trolling. There's no way they came back. Well, my they came back. um And, I mean, I guess this is due to Danhausen. Well, once go but once again, go back to the Danhausen. Curse and uncursing of that.
00:04:36
Speaker
um Let's

Celebrity Influence on Knicks Game

00:04:37
Speaker
start off with last week's game. That was game four that happened this but yes go on let's start off with last week's game was a game that was game four that happened this week so game three yes in Madison Square Garden,
00:04:49
Speaker
donald trump showed up Booed out of Madison Square Garden. And they lost that game. and loss that right and and and And lost that game, lost the streak that they had. What was that at that point? 11 games, 12 games? i don't remember what the streak was. I think it was 13. I think they've won. Now it's like 14. I think they're fourteen one since the Uncursing.
00:05:11
Speaker
So think at that time it was 13. third Yeah, because then it would be 13-1. Yeah, yeah fourteen and one now. Yep, and like you mentioned, this last game, Taylor Swift was there, Dan Housen was there, and Moushain there. No, Housen not in the house with Switzenhausen.
00:05:25
Speaker
I thought he was. I thought he took pictures. I thought he posted on Twitter that he wouldn't be in the house with Switzenhausen. okay. That's what he said. But maybe he ended up being there anyways.
00:05:37
Speaker
Yeah, because I saw videos of him and Ben Stiller, but I think that may have been the game before then. That was from game three. Okay, okay. Because that was funny too. I think Ben Stiller's a wrestling fan. That's hilarious. Yes.
00:05:48
Speaker
So... They come back at the very end. They were, what was it, like 49, no, 29 points or something like that? 29 points, yes. yep And that's about where I fell asleep. Because I was like, well, if they if they're saying, if the commentators are saying that there's no way they can come back, it's only happened twice before. It was not that, it was a long time ago. When was the last time that happened? Was it like 20 years ago? us Celtics was 2008 against the Lakers. Right, okay. And that was 24 points, I believe. Okay, okay.
00:06:19
Speaker
So that's the last thing I heard. And i was like, oh, fuck it. Wu-Tang is not going to be on here. I mean, Wu-Tang, for the children, I need to go to bed. I need to work in the morning. Went to bed. Got up and I saw the same exact thing at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning. Greatest comeback of all time. was like, what?
00:06:36
Speaker
is i I don't watch this shit, so all I hear is commentary in the beginning saying that that can never happen, and I see it happen. Right. And I watched the highlight. It was down to, like, the last last point, the last second of the last shot that got fucked up, got rebounded.
00:06:52
Speaker
It's crazy. Yep. So here's the thing, too. So Darren Fox is the one that's taking all the blame for the Spurs. Mike Brown was fired because he said Darren Fox was an idiot and needs to learn how to play basketball. Mike Brown is now the coach of the New York Knicks.
00:07:09
Speaker
Okay. Or one of the coaches of the New York Knicks. Interesting. So it's fucking hilarious that that he said he's an idiot. He gets fired for that comment. And now they're one game away from winning the whole thing because De'Aaron Fox fucked up. Which, by the way, it was a foul.
00:07:25
Speaker
De'Aaron Fox did get fouled. um Watching live, it looked like the ball was blocked. But he did, in fact, get fouled, which I saw the Knicks morning. Yeah. But yeah, it was crazy. Even the Celtics won.
00:07:37
Speaker
I was with a girl

Analysis of NBA Players and Games

00:07:38
Speaker
that night and we were watching the game and we decided to go to the movies, got to the movies and found out the Celtics came back. So I haven't seen either one of the two comebacks. Wow. um So. Yeah.
00:07:48
Speaker
Crazy. did not see either one. Yeah, so maybe the curse was broken with Taylor Swift there. Maybe. Wu-Tang did do a ah great โ€“ I did see the concert later on. Did do a great showing in New York. Got to get the the got the fans in New York pumped up. And maybe that's the energy they need to or so yeah break the Trump curse.
00:08:08
Speaker
So game is tomorrow. Game in San Antonio, right? I wish so. Yeah, game tomorrow night. But here's like โ€“ The Spurs' best player is 22 years old, Victor Wambanana. He's one of yeah the most fun players to watch.
00:08:25
Speaker
Yeah, he's 7'3 or some shit, and he can hit a three anywhere. um Incredibly fun to watch, um but he's 22. The first games they blew 14-point leads. They held on to a 12-point lead in Game 3.
00:08:41
Speaker
three the game they won and then they blew the 29 point lead in game four. um Can I tell you something? Can I tell you something I noticed? What's that? um something that you've taught me on Teach Race Sports about LeBron.
00:08:57
Speaker
There are a lot of similarities between this guy and LeBron as far as getting pushed down on the ground and making a big deal about it. I noticed that just watching the first half of this game. That's the NBA in general. okay SGA, sga um Sean Gildress Alexander, I believe is his name, for Oklahoma.
00:09:16
Speaker
like You breathe on that guy, and you get a foul called against him. Um, I don't know if the NBA wants him. It's very similar to like Patrick Mahomes for a few years with Kansas city. Um, but SGA is one of the biggest offenders. Like when he got thrown out of game three or four against them in the semifinals, um, for literally doing nothing and you got a technical called against him. Um, but yeah, I mean, that's the NBA now. Uh,
00:09:43
Speaker
If you're a star, you make it work and you can you know you get the calls. it's It's a stars league. It has been for pretty much since Jordan was there, but the flopping, it just gets worse and worse. Jordan...
00:09:57
Speaker
in my opinion, was never a flopper. What's that? That's what they call it? That's what they call it, flopping? When you when you're making big deal about it? okay Yes. Soccer's the same way. Professional soccer's the same way. You see them flopping all over the place like a little fish off a hook. um But yeah, i mean, it's a Stars League.
00:10:15
Speaker
So it's a Stars League. It is what it is. um It's never going to change at this point, I don't think. There's a lot of money here. Back in the day... Yeah, and back in the day, you get clotheslined, like Kurt Rambis in 84, get clotheslined and nobody gives a shit. Guy got up and you tried to fight the entire Celtics team. um yeah So it is what it is. um But yeah, Knicks are one win away from the championship.
00:10:41
Speaker
Yep. And they're in San Antonio out of out of home territory. so um And I think the next few games are going to be there until game seven. So they are gonna if they win, it'll be out of town. Wait.
00:10:52
Speaker
is it or Is it next game might be New York and then two in San Antonio? Okay. Because they used to flop. They used to do like 2-2, 1-1-1. I think it might be 2-3-2 now.
00:11:04
Speaker
I think. um I think that's what it is. If they win in New York, there's going to be a fucking riot because there was a riot lesson two nights ago. thanks They threw an egg at Wemby's head when he was entering the hotel. They hit him.
00:11:18
Speaker
um But Wemby is one of my favorite players to watch is not a member of Celtics. um He's incredible. He's 22 years old. He's overall a good, seems like a good dude.
00:11:29
Speaker
um He doesn't seem like he has an ego yet. But, again, he does the flopping like everyone else does. Yeah. So. ah I will say, out of all sports, I do enjoy, i think, basketball more than anything.
00:11:45
Speaker
It's very fast-paced. Very quick to get into. You don't watch any hockey that do. Hockey, I have watched in the past, but it's been probably 30 years.
00:11:56
Speaker
The 90s. Oh, okay. Hockey hockey is a lot of fun to watch, especially the finals, um even if you don't have a team in it. As far as these two teams go, like I said, I kind of want the Spurs to win, at the same time, like,
00:12:09
Speaker
Dan Housen, New York. um This Knicks team is a lot of fun. um It's just hard to root for a team from New York being a Boston sports fan. Right. I was going to ask you that. like How do you do that when there's so much like you want to root for New York, but you're a Boston fan through and through, like bleeding Boston?
00:12:29
Speaker
I mean, I want to root more for the Spurs, but like yeah it doesn't feel like it's their time. um I like the Knicks story. We got injured. Yeah, exactly. They're a good story.
00:12:42
Speaker
and We got eliminated last year by the Knicks. It's really hard to root them, but Dan Housen. It's all Dan Housen. Dan Housen broke your personal curse.
00:12:54
Speaker
Yes, yes. Yeah,

Apple's WWDC and Future Products

00:12:56
Speaker
Dan Housen all over the place, and If they win, if they't if they didn't have if they didn't have a break in the streak and they won with this streak, he would have been he would have gone down legendary status. But now that there's a break in there, and just blame it on Trump.
00:13:10
Speaker
but Yes. Now that there's a break in there. Which can blame a lot on. Right. But we you can blame that especially because I think all of New York does as well. The amount of booze that came out of that stady it came out of that arena. Definitely. But, yeah, let's jump into the rest of the show.
00:13:25
Speaker
um yep The beginning of the week on Tuesday was the Worldwide Developers Conference. That's where Apple releases all of their iOS, macOS information. They did it a little differently this year, and they didn't tackle anything individually. In other words, there was no updates on iOS. There was no updates on macOS. No updates on Watch TV. None of that stuff. They went right to what the basics were, and basically what they're doing is reinventing Siri.
00:13:53
Speaker
with this brand new Apple intelligence they started a couple years ago, where Siri now using, i believe, Gemini from Google is going to be more... calm comfort kind cant Wow,
00:14:06
Speaker
wow i can't even think of the word. i More talkative. You can actually talk to Siri. You can actually talk to Siri in actual conversations. you use Siri a lot?
00:14:20
Speaker
um I do not. i use i use i never named lex I use Alexa more. I don't want to say it loud because she's in the other room. um Because I listen to music like when i'm when I'm doing something and I just want to hear it, it'll come on there. Same. um no If Siri did that, if we had speakers like that, which we don't... The Sonos speakers are great. um I have a Sonos. If Siri, if there was a, like the HomePod's okay. we have the Apple, I was going to say the HomePod one, yeah. The HomePod's okay, but the Sonos I have is is the Sonos Move. It's portable. has like a 10-hour battery on it. And you can carry it anywhere, and sounds amazing.
00:14:56
Speaker
And I have that. The Apple one's had to be plugged in. The Apple, and they're not, the other thing is it's not waterproof. The Sonos one is. So I have it in the bathroom when I'm listening to music, and it sounds like a fucking stereo in there. I have my Bose speaker in there.
00:15:09
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. Bose does that as well. But the big thing was Apple Intelligence. It's basically AI, their version of it, um and it's going to be just made better.
00:15:20
Speaker
So more conversational, and you can talk to it and tell it. So instead of saying, hey, do this, do that, say, hey I'm thinking of making an Apple Pie, but I'm not sure what I want. You just have this whole conversation with it. It'll take that conversation, break it down, and find the fundamentals of what you want, and it'll find it for you using Apple Intelligent, using its own intelligence, its own computing power, plus using Google, plus using Gemini, all of that stuff combined to get an answer for you right fast paced right then and there.
00:15:52
Speaker
um and it's going to be working throughout all of the system. That's why they didn't do the individual iOS, watchOS. It's going to working throughout everything. The reason why we haven't had an Apple TV yet, and I know you're waiting just like I am, yeah what for an upgrade, this is a year ago is a year ago on me it is for this. They've been waiting to announce this ever since they had a deal with Gemini, because the new Apple TV is going to be fully engulfed in the Apple intelligence, because the old ones don't have it. So when you're talking to Siri on there, you can be able to do that. And the other thing is they're coming out with a brand new Apple TV, but they're also coming out with a brand new HomePod with a screen um that you can put in your room and it and you can actually see what you're when you're talking to it. It'll it'll have kind of like a
00:16:37
Speaker
Like an Echo. If you've ever seen the Echo with the screens. Is it wireless? I doubt it. This is a first generation for Apple. You know Apple's slow to everything. They're slow to everything, but when they finally do it, it's great. They get the technology perfect. Kind of like when we're waiting in the fall, we're going to get a foldable phone.
00:16:55
Speaker
Full-level phones have been around for, what, five or six years? But they've waited the point now, maybe five four years? i mean I mean, the first ones were breaking all the time, so nobody bought them.
00:17:06
Speaker
That's why they waited, and that's why Apple's waited to make it to the point not only for that, but... To make it so that if you ever use those or ever seen those, when you fold them, there's a crease in the plastic of the screen. or in the They've figured out a way to stop that.
00:17:20
Speaker
And that's what Apple waited for to release it this year. Plus, next year is the 20th anniversary of the of the ah the iPhone. um and Either next year or the year after. It's got to be next year because I got one in 2007. I got one in 2008. That was the 3. Okay, so it is next year. oh wait so yeah So next year is the big, big change. like The 10th year, we got the all screen. and It got rid of all the front buttons. We got the all screen iPhone.
00:17:48
Speaker
Next year, the rumor is the screen is going to be not only from corner to corner, but it could kind of fold off into the sides a little bit. So you have an all screen. No bezels, no nothing, um and and a whole bunch of other features that could be added. Who knows what's going to happen? Of course, the Fold is their big thing. They're coming out with in the fall, and we'll we'll talk more about that. But overall, not a lot of individual, um like what happened in the past. and It kind of sucks because I use my phone. You use your phone all the time.
00:18:18
Speaker
i need a new phone, too. I was talking about that earlier on text about how I need a new phone. I'm going to finally get like the Pro. I've never had the Pro, but I'm going finally upgrade to the Pro. Pros are great for photos. The photo app yeah in the pro is amazing. um apple You don't have Apple Intelligent on your phone, right?
00:18:37
Speaker
thief I don't believe The editing in the photos app with Apple Intelligent is fucking incredible. It's just like Photoshop. You just point on what you want delete from a photo, and it deletes it. I do that on this podcast for a lot of the stuff use the slides. I'll delete like the little audio with the headphones on there or with the โ€“ it says the speakers on there and stuff. I'll delete that stuff. I'll delete individual things on there to make it for the podcast so don't have showing up weird shit on there.
00:19:08
Speaker
But you can do that with not only that, but if you're taking a photo of something you want to remove a tree or you want to remove ah a branch you want to remove something, it removes it. in an incredible um it's gonna be better in the new system that this system is not as well it's actually the worst of the three of Samsung and Gemini but using the Gemini system that's why Apple made the deal with Google um is going to make that even better so when you do get a new phone in the fall that's gonna be awesome for you to get in nice getting right in the beginning if I know I got you need my ah Instagram account hold grab a tip coat follow me
00:19:41
Speaker
Yeah. For the the food pics, but I'd like to upgrade my photo situation for that specifically. Yeah, the megapixels on those cameras are great, and you can do the telephoto and everything. I don't think I'll be getting the fold, but we'll see. ah Don't get a fold.
00:19:58
Speaker
The only reason I'm saying that, first-generation... um Yeah. It's going to be more, you know, the new the iPhone airs, the very thin phones. Yep. Had yeah limited, it had limited stuff at it. That's basically the first generation of what the fold is. In other words, they wanted to see how much they could compact the phone down and put all the stuff into it.
00:20:17
Speaker
Um, and there's also rumors because of that, they want to try to compact the phone down. Um, there's not going to be any more face ID. Um, they don't want to have face ID in there. So you'll have, you'll have, i think on the side, there's going to a button for thumbprint again, just on the phone. okay Um, That technology, and like we always say that, don't get into the first generation of these things because yeah usually the second or third, they're much better. They get all all the kinks out.
00:20:42
Speaker
If you need a phone in the fall, if you need one, get one. If you can wait a year and a half or a year and three months, wait until that the 20th anniversary one because that's going to be all the bells and whistles if you can wait. um that's That's up to your own if you need it right away or not. go every two years

Reviews of Apple TV Series

00:20:59
Speaker
and I'm due. I mean, my phone... did It still holds a charge, but it doesn't charge with the port. I've used the back charger, which is fine. What do you have, a 15? Do you have 15 or 16? Whichever one was the first one that came with the USB-C.
00:21:11
Speaker
So two years ago. A year and a half this point. yep So, yeah. I think it's the 15. That would be my only suggestion. If you can wait, wait. It's a year and two months from now. But if you can, if you want to get one, get one. And the pros are great phones. It's worth oh jumping in now. yeah yeah Yeah, it's worth jumping in if you want to. um Widows Bay. Let's jump into what we watched this week. Widows Bay penultimate episode. um i don't get I don't get into much about this about the logistics of the show because there's a lot of spoilers involved. But it's horror comedy, little bit of drama. The actors are fantastic.
00:21:49
Speaker
Set on an island, it's the love story to all horror. Stephen King, slashers, everything mixed into one. um It was renewed for a second season right before the finale airs next week. And we'll talk about that. We're taking it off next week. We'll talk about that when we come back. Jam-packed show when we come back. We'll get into at the end. But Widow's Bay renewed for a second season. um I don't know where I've seen the lead of this show.
00:22:14
Speaker
I don't know if I've ever seen him in anything, but he's fantastic. His name is Matthew. He's British guy. I don't know his name. But he's fantastic in this show. It's on Apple TV. i suggest anybody watch it. It's probably the best television show.
00:22:27
Speaker
On television up until this week because the other show that's amazing on Apple TV is Cape Fear. The third remake of Cape Fear. ah virgin was the thirty yeah i Original is 30s. This would be the third and incarnation. the First one was in the 30s with Gregory Peck.
00:22:48
Speaker
Second one was Robert De Niro in the 90s, done by Scorsese, right? Wasn't that Martin Scorsese? Yeah, I think so. Did he get a nom for that? I can't remember. I don't remember. He's an executive producer. Him and Spielberg are both executives of this, which shows in the visuals of this show. They put their mark on there because, God, it looks amazing. It sounds amazing. And Javier Bardem is incredible. He is so fucking good.
00:23:17
Speaker
He is so good. This is the Javier Bardem that they always talk about when they talk about No Country for Old Men. This is that no cut turn not bond turned up to 100. He is amazing in this show. Patrick Wilson, incredible. We love Patrick Wilson and on this show. um He's incredible.
00:23:36
Speaker
Amy Adams, not a huge fan of I hate her fucking accent in this show. um It's a fake Southern Belle. She's really good in some things, and then she's fucking awful and stuff.
00:23:46
Speaker
She's so good in The Fighter. Incredible in The Fighter. Oh, incredible. Yeah, incredible. She's great in that. Then she and Henry Cavill had no fucking chemistry, and she was a terrible Lois Lane, in my opinion, my humble opinion. Worst but so works set of the bunch.

And then this she has that weird, like you said, Southern Belle accent. It kind of takes you out of it at times. It does. It did, yeah. But she's also around Javier Bardem, who is just a juggernaut of an actor. Eclipsing. One of my favorites right now.
00:24:15
Speaker
Yeah, Eclipsing, everybody out in the cast. And P. Willy. I love P. Willy. He's awesome. He's always good in everything. In everything. Yeah. um Overall, three episodes. I've watched a third one. You haven't yet. We'll talk about it when we come back, but it is incredible. Everybody should be watching this show. It's very much a thriller, very much a drama.
00:24:34
Speaker
It's sadistic. If you know the original movie that came out in the 90s, we're going to watch it at the end. We just talked about it off-pog. We're going watch it when this whole series is almost over. I watched Office

00:25:15
Speaker
Did not love it. i'm not I'm not a sucker for romantic comedies, but I like them. um And I love Brett Goldstein. knowm more of a sucker for him than romantic comedies. I love his writing style. there's a few There's a superhero movie that he did. I think it's like called Super Bob. um It was the first thing he did before Ted Lasso, before anything, before he was famous. He was a comedian way back in the day. He started off doing podcasts, got hired to do Ted Lasso. I want to watch that because he wrote that, and he wrote this as well. He's he's written a few great things. um I believe he had a part in Ted Lasso as well. Plus, shrinking. he's He's ahead of that. So, we already know his pedigree is amazing. So, when you see him on screen in this, I fucking love it. there's there there I would suggest you may like some of this movie, except for the J-Lo part. I think you'll love his part of it.
00:26:06
Speaker
This is on Netflix, if you want to watch it. A little bit under two hours. J-Lo is still beautiful, so I don't see why I wouldn't want to. Yeah, I know.
00:26:16
Speaker
Yeah, I know. But Brett Goldstein, you believe they're kind of falling for each other in this. And Brett Goldstein is incredible. He's just a funny guy, naturally funny.
00:26:28
Speaker
I'm big fan of his stuff. I love his writing style. So worth watching. Probably like three and a half out of four. Probably a little bit in between. Maybe ah maybe ah maybe if we did set a three quarters, maybe there. But, yeah, I'll stick with a three and a half. Right.
00:26:42
Speaker
We didn't watch Disclosure Day. That came out today. i don't know what your plans are. i don't know if you want to watch it in next couple of weeks or not. I was going to say, ah I got Thursday off. You want do Thursday?
00:26:53
Speaker
Yeah, let's go Thursday because the next week after that we've got Supergirl. So we'll do that next week and we'll talk about that when we come back. good um But until then, let's get into the news.
00:27:12
Speaker
And it's not a new segment without the trailer roundup.
00:27:18
Speaker
A brand new full trailer for a movie called The Dog Stars. Directed by Ridley Scott. Starring ah Josh Brolin. Jacob Alardi.
00:27:30
Speaker
um Is that Marco Qualley? Who is that? Is that who that it is? I can't remember her name. That looks like her. Yeah, I think that's her. um yeah it looks It looks like an end-of-the-world, dystopian kind of movie. um Not sure much about it, but I love Jacob Lardy. I love Josh Brolin. So, um yeah, we'll we'll keep an eye on that. comes out August 28th.
00:27:53
Speaker
We got the brand-new trailer for The Social Reckoning. And Jesse Eisberg did not come back for this. It's a sequel to The Social Network. But the guy who's from Succession, who's playing Mark Zuckerberg, did an incredible job with the trailer.
00:28:09
Speaker
I believe Sorkin wrote this one too, didn't he? He did, and he spent... I read an article this week. He spent three days trying to get Jesse Eisberg to do the movie. And because he's so synonymous with... with with um I just said his name from Facebook. Zuckerberg. um Everywhere he goes, people call him Zuckerberg...
00:28:30
Speaker
say stuff about the movie to him and he's sick of it. So he did not want to be a part of this movie 15 years, 16 years later. That's one of my favorite movies from that time period. 2010 is one of my favorite movies. It's not his performance that's probably the best. top corny all time It's the writing. It's the writing the writing performances.
00:28:50
Speaker
Andrew Garfield is incredible. That's before Spider-Man. Yeah, he's incredible. All the performances are incredible. um He was perfect for Zuckerberg in that movie. Yeah, yeah. It worked for younger Zuckerberg. I'm really looking forward to this, though. Yeah, definitely. Yeah, this looks good because Jeremy Allen Whiteson in his belly plays a reporter. We both love him. Bear coming out soon, believe, in a couple weeks, next week. Yeah. So, yeah, we'll talk about that when we come back as well.
00:29:15
Speaker
um Another new trailer, David Ayer did a movie called Heart of the Beast starring Brad Pitt. Brad Pitt in the army, a soldier, gets locked out wilderness. It looks yeah like a it's going that if that dog dies, I'm not watching it. That's exactly what i everyone says. um I love David Ayer, as you know. Twitter follower of mine. Shout out to him. Does John Cena follow you too? Because he follows everybody. yeah Yeah. And the Brooklyn Brawler. But yeah, I love David Ayer. He's a veteran, so he always goes back to these veteran stories. i'm always going love him because...
00:29:51
Speaker
my one of my father's favorite movies, course, my father worked at the shipyard, was U571 written by David Ayer, and he wrote Training Day. Like, to me, David Ayer can do no wrong until he does DC movies.
00:30:03
Speaker
But then again, that was studio stuff. We'll get into it another I'm sure. Yeah, yeah. you ever continue to see that version. But with this movie, to me, looks really good. i'm Yeah, it looks good. I can't wait. love Brad Pitt. I love dogs.
00:30:14
Speaker
I love Ayer, so can't wait for this. Another guy in his 60s, Brad Pitt, still out there, still working, still still a Hollywood heartthrob, and cannot wait to see the Cliff Booth movie at the end of the year. Oh, yeah, same. The Heart of the Beast comes out on September 25th. We'll talk about that in the fall.
00:30:31
Speaker
um And we got the trailer for larry Life Larry in the Pursuit of Unhappiness in Almost History of America. um This comes out June 26th. We'll talk about it when we come back as well. Actually,

Box Office and Industry Updates

00:30:43
Speaker
that may be that night we probably won't be talking about it, the night we come back.
00:30:47
Speaker
um But it's basically Curb the Enthusiasm, all the people from that, plus other celebrities coming and doing the History of America in that style of comedy. I decided not to watch the trailer because I want to be like clean going in. Does it look good? Oh, it looks so amazing.
00:31:03
Speaker
is Okay, because some of the stuff he's done outside of Curb is not that good. so this yeah This looks good because it's time piece. will give a spoiler because you know how love Hamilton.
00:31:16
Speaker
Lin-Manuel Miranda comes back as Hamilton. Okay, awesome. So you already know I'm i'm tuned in. Is is Leon in it? I believe everybody from Curb is in it. and there's I know Susie Usman is in there. i know she um yeah i think I believe everybody from Curb is in this. they They mentioned that in the press release. and it's It's done by a partnership with the the Obamas. so yeah they're taking They're taking American history and just turning it on its side and giving Larry David's version of it, which is awesome. uh comes out i hopefully uh hopefully limited series i'm not sure if it's going to be coming out throughout the whole month of july but it starts on june 26 so i cannot wait to get in on hpl max um box office last week um scary movie one 55 million number one masters of the universe number two 29.3
00:32:10
Speaker
That movie should be watched by a lot more people because it is probably one of the best movies I've seen this year and one of the best blockbusters I've seen. Then again, we talked about, was it last week or the week before, that 80s nostalgia isn't really the thing anymore. That's the thing.
00:32:25
Speaker
um yeah now's all culture um yeah i still have not gotten the chance to see it yeah um i look forward to seeing it because everyone that i've talked to that i've seen this says is's fucking amazing so i can't wait to finally watch it i had no yeah skin i had no skin in the game we talked about before yeah we did not grow up with masters in the universe i had no skin in the game but it was a fun fucking movie Really good in box office. One of those big, huge blockbuster movies of the summer. is Just great to see in the theater.
00:32:52
Speaker
um It's unfortunate that it's going to be panned and and talked about as being one of the worst Hollywood blockbusters of all time. They're going to throw this on. They're going throw this on Amazon with ads and it's going to make Amazon a lot of money back.
00:33:07
Speaker
Amazon is happy about the talk. yeah They're talking about it. That's what they're happy about right now. Yep. ye Because, like you mentioned, on Prime, this would have done done big numbers for them. um And when it finally does get released, it's going to do huge numbers for them. so Number three, Backrooms, ah for the second week, not too far behind Masters of the Universe, 25.9. Haven't seen that. Haven't seen Obsession, which I believe comes out the week that we are coming back. So I'll be able to watch that before we come back as well. Jam-packed show when we come back.
00:33:39
Speaker
Because they're also going to reviewing Supergirl. So there's a lot want to look forward to at the end of the month. But Scary Movie 6 opened $105 million worldwide.
00:33:50
Speaker
Biggest opening weekend for the franchise ever. if Everything I hear, if you love the early scary movies, you're going to love this. Done by all the Waynes family. The Waynes family show up in this. there's a lot of nods to the past of the Waynes. Of course, Scary Movie 1 and 2, they did. um And then they left the franchise.
00:34:10
Speaker
But, ah yeah, i want to see that. Master of the Universe talked about that. Biggest bomb of the summer, possibly. So far. Losing, maybe overall lose $100 million. Yeah.
00:34:22
Speaker
yeah Don't get into that too much. Also, this week's Super Mario Galaxy movie, it's on streaming, but it's still in theaters. It crossed the $1 billion dollar milestone worldwide, making the ah during its 10th week, and officially making the first billion dollar movie of the year. Super Mario Galaxy, good movie. I like the first one better.
00:34:42
Speaker
i love the nods to the video games and all that. We got more video game talk in the end we'll get into, but that's it for now. um A group of U.S. states, including California and New York, are preparing a to file a lawsuit...
00:34:55
Speaker
to block Paramount's acquisition of Warner Brothers. How are we feeling? We're what, four months away, four months out from when this all broke down last, was it March?
00:35:06
Speaker
How are we feeling right now? How are we feeling right now as far as this merger is going? Do we think it's bad idea? i I personally don't want it for the film industry. um cause what's gonna kill whole studios jobs yeah It's It's going to kill studio. There'll be one less place to go to, one less place to shop your movie idea to.
00:35:24
Speaker
um Warner Brothers has been killing it the last year and a half. So... well I think everybody complained about Netflix. I think netflix Netflix would have been the better of two evils just because the Paramount thing is so connected to the Republican Party and Trump. yeah And I don't like having that. It's just despot gazpacho, whatever you call it. um I don't like having that connection to the government so close to something like that.
00:35:50
Speaker
a big, huge conglomerate with that happened. Because that's that's having a media under your thumb you can control. Just like the Colbert stuff, it's all connected. hate getting political i hate getting political, but it's there. we have to talk about it. um We're not Republican, we're not Democrat, I'm kind of in the middle. But for stuff like that, you see you can see it, you know what's happening.
00:36:12
Speaker
Speaking of Netflix and all that other stuff, um Chief Dan Lin has a reaffirmed that they will not work with directors who want theatrical releases. um Kind of backpedaling what they said when they were going to merge with Warner Brothers, but there is a group of filmmakers who still want theatrical. Those are filmmakers that we've accepted we just won't work with.
00:36:34
Speaker
It's kind of weird to backpedal when you're saying three months ago during this whole merger that you were going to be doing that you were going to theatrical. but um Netflix, bottom line, is streaming.
00:36:45
Speaker
That's where they get their money from subscribers. I understand it. um They have some big, huge movies on that platform. If that Office romance movie had come out in theaters, I think it would have given decent numbers in theaters for the first couple of weekends. i know a lot of i know a lot of couples wouldn't have gone and seen that. Yeah. Right. um they're They're missing a huge market there. The Amazon's kind of with Master of the Universe and other movies. Of course, Bond's going huge in the theater, but they've got their toes dipped in a little bit. But Netflix's staying far away. um Maybe a weekend here, first night there, like Stranger Things. But they won't dive deep into a theatrical plan, which is unfortunate for movie theaters, but...
00:37:27
Speaker
um Big TV news this week is Doctor Who. Doctor Who was on a hiatus. There was already a Christmas special supposed to come at the end of the year. And after 21 years, BBC made the official cancellation announcement for Doctor Who as we know it.
00:37:45
Speaker
um Doctor Who came back 21 years ago. It had taken a hiatus at that point for 16 years, 17 years. And it came back with Christopher Eccleston, It also came back with the showrunner, Russell T. Davis, who did an amazing job with the first few seasons of Doctor Who when it came back.
00:38:04
Speaker
Of course, David Tennant, leading up to Matt Smith, the best years, in my opinion, of Doctor Who, marram modern Doctor Who. um He stepped down. He was he was a showrunner. of The production company that's been there since 2005 has has is no longer going to produce the show, Bad Wolf. So BBC

TV Series Revivals and Cancellations

00:38:25
Speaker
not only looking for a new doctor, new showrunner, and a new production partner, and they're going to be taking a hiatus, not as long as the last hiatus, it could be just a few years, but they're going to regroup, find a new creator, and try to retell the Doctor Who story. Doctor Who in the last few years did get watered down. There's a lot of bad Doctor Who. I stopped watching right after...
00:38:47
Speaker
I believe the 12th doctor, um, Capaldi. Um, then there was a female doctor. Then there was the African doctor. He's not American African doctor. Um, and then at the end, I believe David, David Tennant came back, regenerated as a doctor as well. Um,
00:39:04
Speaker
So other than that, I'm okay with this. It sucks. I did like Russell T. Davies, what he did in the beginning, and I hope to see a research in Doctor Who lot of creators who could do a lot of amazing things right now. Just give somebody else the reins and see how they would take it. I would love to see a Nolan Doctor Who. I know he would never do it, but if he was a showrunner, Christopher Nolan or his brother, Jonathan. Jonathan does a lot TV, right? I could see that. He does, yeah. He did Westworld, right? Yeah, I could see him coming in. So think in order to get the fans back on the pace for Doctor Who, they'd have to have a big name come in. Unfortunately, big names are all directors of movies.
00:39:47
Speaker
for For Nolan, that would be a step back. For Jonathan Nolan, I could see. don't I don't know who else would... Another British person that could come in there, but... I love Doctor Who. an Incredible story. I only got into it recently in the last 16 years, but I binged that whole entire beginning of this new run of Doctor Who, and it's amazing. And I remember watching it on PBS when I was a kid, too, um with a guy with a scarf way, way back in the day. I can't remember what doctor number he was, but... ah Yeah, so we'll ah talk about that in a few years.
00:40:19
Speaker
A live-action Gem in the Hologram series is in the works. um Everybody working off of all these 80s cartoons. We just had Masters of the Universe. We had Barbie, ah the toy line. Gem was huge in the 80s, so that's coming on Prime Video. um the Speaking of Jonathan Nolan, um he's producing the series. He's also produced Fallout. So, yeah, we'll have to wait and see on that. um Speaking of things we loved is in our childhood, Ghostbusters, coming out with a brand new animated series in 2027 Netflix. called Ghostbusters Night Shift, and that's the first look of it. um No other information other than that. They announced that on Ghostbusters Day, which I believe was the 40th anniversary of when they released Ghostbusters. ah No, that can't be.
00:41:08
Speaker
No. No, that could have been it, because that would have been 83. I don't know. It's just Ghostbusters Day is what they call it, but they did announce that. um Also, speaking of announcing...
00:41:19
Speaker
um They announced the new Scooby-Doo in the live action remake that they're doing on Netflix. And it's an actual dog. And people are up in arms that's not animated. But it's a puppy that's going to grow into the role.
00:41:34
Speaker
If this dog grows up, it's going to be huge. These dogs grow up to be as big as Scooby-Doo. So it's going to interesting to see the take on what they're doing for this live action remake. Last time they did live action, James Gunn was in charge of him. So, yeah, we'll wait and see.
00:41:51
Speaker
Hitman. I like that movie. It was Glenn Powell watched it last year. Richard Linkletter directed that. And they're making a series of that coming out on Netflix. I don't believe Glenn Powell is attached, but think he's not attached to Star. He's not attached to Star, he's going produce it with Richard Linkletter. So, yeah, we'll see about that.
00:42:14
Speaker
i Joining the cast of The Last of Us, Peter Sarsgaard. He's been in a lot of stuff. um He was in the shitty Green Lantern with Ryan Reynolds. He played, not Sinestro, but he played, I can't remember the guy's name, the bad guy in that movie, but he was the other bad guy.
00:42:31
Speaker
um He's playing a brand new character made for this series of the third series season of The Last of Us named Eamon, leader of the Seraphites, who we saw in the second season. We we we saw that mentioned a few times. ah He's playing the leader. He wasn't part of the game. He's a brand new character they created for the show.
00:42:50
Speaker
Speaking of casting, another casting announcement. Martin Freeman joining the cast of Season 6, Only Murders in the Building, which is set in London. Martin friton Freeman, of course, the original office. he's the original Jim in the office. He's also Bilbo in the Hobbit movies.
00:43:06
Speaker
um He's been in a whole bunch of stuff. Sherlock, great in that. um So, yeah. I cannot wait see Only Murders. I love that show. Being set in London, there's a lot of British actors that are part of it. and This is the only one i that I have on here. but There's other familiar ones if you've seen movies in the last decade or so that are in this season too. so Excited for that.
00:43:25
Speaker
Big movie news of the week. Super excited for this, although this could have been a whole different story if they actually did the Men in Black crossover. However, 24 Jump Street is in development with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill in Talks to Return and Ice Cube. And they're skipping 23 Jump Street altogether because they waited too long. So they decided just to jump to 24. Plus there's a joke in the original 21 Jump Street.
00:43:52
Speaker
where they say 23 Jump Street is taken over by a church, so they can't live there, so they have to move down the street to 24 Jump Street. So there actually is canon in in the what they talked about in the movies. But I love those movies.
00:44:05
Speaker
I love Channing Tatum. I think his comedy chops in these movies is outstanding. um It starts off with them in high school and Jonah Hill with the blonde M&M haircut listening to Real Slim Shady. So, yeah, watch those movies if you've never seen them. They're great movies. So, yeah, that just announced this week. Cannot wait for that. Also announced, Hugh Jackman is going to be in a Long John Silver movie, Treasure Island.
00:44:30
Speaker
Starring as Lon John Silver. Directed by Ridley Scott. um that Treasure Island has not been done in a very long time. Muppet Treasure Island is the last one I remember. And then there was a big movie back... at A Disney movie back in... I want to say... 60s? 50s maybe? Other than that, Treasure Island has not been touched much. But it's a very popular book. Came out a long time ago. um Ridley Scott... Yeah, huge part of my childhood.
00:44:56
Speaker
Yeah, Ridley Scott can be in charge of that. So... Hugh Jackman cast as the big, huge-ass pirate. Cool. Helldivers. We talked about Jason Momoa being part of that movie, um and he exited it. Justin Lin was directing it, and he had to he had to leave the franchise. im Not sure why. Not sure who was going to take its place, but that was announced this week. Jason Momoa is everywhere. He's gonna be Supergirl in a couple weeks. so yeah Maybe just busy. Who knows?
00:45:25
Speaker
and George Miller. He's looking to develop a final Mad Max movie and television series. From what I hear, war brothers Warner Brothers passed on his new Mad Max movie. I mean, Furiosa bombed hard. Right.
00:45:39
Speaker
So he's passing it around to Amazon, Universal, and Sony to see if they're interested in acquiring the rights. So that that was announced this week. um mad max i'm about 50 50 on i love the newer stuff i love uh mad max fury road uh furioso is okay the ones with mel gibson are great for what they are but they're just 80s can't be yeah down so they're uh they didn't age well i love them because i grew up with the first two um and i love dirty road and this next one's supposed to be like how he gets like fury road is last one in the franchise um top chronologically. So I'm looking forward to seeing how he gets to Fury Road and hopefully Tom Hardy comes back for it.
00:46:20
Speaker
um I wish they did that instead of Furiosa, but Furiosa is cool anyway. So it is what it is. yeah Yeah, we'll keep an eye on that.
00:46:31
Speaker
Fury Road was just a visually stunning movie. I remember that how great out great it is. and Of course, Tom Hardy didn't speak a word in that movie at all. Just

Gaming Announcements and Updates

00:46:40
Speaker
his emoting throughout the whole entire thing was great. um and there was a bunch We talked about last week. E3 doesn't happen anymore. so There was a bunch of video games. We ended off with State of Play with PlayStation. They announced a whole bunch of stuff. The Wolverine game looks amazing. And also, after we got off the air the air last week, after we got off the podcast, IGN had their summer of games. They announced a few other ones. um the beginning ah This is the beginning of a whole avalanche of game news that came out last week.
00:47:11
Speaker
They announced, first off, the Galaxy Racers coming out preordering on coming on October six already pre-ordering today. This, of course, is Pod Racing. and The new generation looks amazing. Yes. Pod Racing on crack, it looks like.
00:47:25
Speaker
But the big thing that they announced that nobody knew about was they're doing a video game of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Last Ronin. it looks The trailer looks amazing.
00:47:37
Speaker
Of course, no gameplay yet, but we know there was supposed to be a movie. The movie got canceled. They're going back to the animated, I believe, the animated realm for the next one. um And I believe they're actually working on a live action, but we'll have wait and see on that.
00:47:50
Speaker
But they were going to do A Last Ronin. They canceled it. Now they turn it into a video game. I think it'll work better for that story anyway. um So, yeah. that's what That's what IGN announced. Then a couple of days later, Xbox had their Xbox Game Showcase. We don't play Xbox, but they did announce a lot of cross-gen platforms. They did announce a new Series X25, a 25th anniversary Xbox, limited edition see-through green. That was an iconic color back in the day.
00:48:20
Speaker
They announced another game called The Magicians, The Devil's Deal. The trailer looked amazing. I wanted to bring that up. to keep We're going to keep an eye on that. it comes out on PS5 as well. They also announced a brand new Crazy Taxi World Tour. I believe this is a remake of the original game.
00:48:37
Speaker
um I'm not sure if it's a full full new game. I think it's a remake. But that comes out on i not only Xbox, but PlayStation as well and Switch. Mm-hmm. They announced a new trailer for Fable, and that it's coming out February twenty third and, um
00:48:54
Speaker
Agent Carter, she's playing the lead in this, the lead villain. Oh, nice. um that' That's the other thing they announced. That's coming out on on all the all the platforms as well, PS5 and Xbox.
00:49:07
Speaker
Announced a Halo coming out on July 28th, just next month. That's the that's the first Halo game reimagined. They're adding, I think, four new levels.
00:49:18
Speaker
in a prequel to how Master Chief ends up on the Halo planet. So you can play through the prequel of how he got there. um And that's going on not only Xbox, but this is the first time Halo is going be on PlayStation as well. So that comes out on July 28th. And the Halloween game comes out in the fall.
00:49:35
Speaker
That's going on all the platforms as well. Trailer looks amazing. The only thing I remember from last year... is you get to play as Jason, um as Michael, but you also get to play as the people that he's hunting. You get reverse the role, so you're either hunted or being a hunter, and that sounds kind of amazing, um and it's a lot of horror elements to that, so that's kind of cool.
00:49:55
Speaker
Then, a couple days later, they decided to do a Nintendo they decided to do nintendo Direct. And the big rumor has been Zelda, big rumor has been Mario. But they did announce a Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, which is basically, if you had the Wii back in the day, nintendo the Wii Sports was amazing. It's basically a retelling of that done with the Switch graphics. It looks fun. Yep.
00:50:21
Speaker
Kingdom Hearts, not huge into that. I know it's huge for Disney. I know it's huge for Square Onix. They announced the 1, 2, 3 coming out remastered. Those are already out on PlayStation, they're coming out on the Switch. But they did announce the Kingdom Hearts 4. I'm not sure if I'm going get into those games. But the thing that we've been waiting for for 30 years of our childhood. You're like the seventh person that told me they need to buy a Switch 2 now because of this announcement.

not only do i need to buy a switch i'm holding off for the special edition because arc arena of time is being remade remastered for the nintendo switch 2 um and if you know the original that is not the graphics from the original game those are brand new graphics that they've done for this whole entire game it looks like it's going to look it's being done from the ground up which looks awesome yeah And the the reason you say that, you you look at the shot for shot, what, 98, 2011, when the 3D version came out, and this version, totally different setup of how the character looked, how his bedroom looked, and everything.

One of the best stories in video games ever, the best Zelda game in my opinion ever, and I know a lot of people love Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom. This was the quintessential Zelda game.
00:51:36
Speaker
It got me into Zelda. It got a lot of our generation into Zelda and and with the Nintendo 64, and I cannot wait. A lot of people are hoping that this is the beginning of this, and maybe Majora's Mask will be the next one in 2027. But let's just hold our horses.
00:51:53
Speaker
We've got this. yeah We wanted this for years. There's going to be a lot of Switches for sale. They better not

make that Switch Special Edition Console Limited Edition because I want one. If they sell it before I can get one, I'll be fucking pissed.
00:52:06
Speaker
But I'm very excited. Hopefully at the end of the year I'll have that. um Cannot wait because the graphics look amazing. um Let's get into some popcorn buckets. The Odyssey coming out next month. We get a brand new pup popcorn bucket of the Trojan horse. um And the popcorn comes out of the belly like the Trojan horse. um yeah Yeah, so that comes out next month. um And let's get into some swag.
00:52:34
Speaker
Swag. Stuff we all get. Come on, son. You know that's right. We have some Harry Potter pop figures. Harry Potter, Severus Snape, and Albus Dumbledore with their Patronus.
00:52:47
Speaker
Those look pretty cool. We also got these. I got these for you. to I think these are great on your shelf, Kevin. We got a Larry Bird and a Magic Johnson McFarlane figures coming out Target exclusive. ah They just announced them, I believe, yesterday. And the balls are magnetic, so they stick to their hands, so you can pose them in different poses playing basketball games. Kind of cool.
00:53:07
Speaker
I saw this. i don't I haven't seen anything official yet, but ah there's a Cavalry figure somewhere for Marvel Legends. yeah ah Keep an eye and see if that comes out. But this looks awesome. We love the Punisher. We love Jon Bernthal. Hot Toys coming out with a Jon Bernthal Punisher figure one six scale with a ton of accessories, tons of guns, weapons, stands. It looks amazing, Jon Bernthal being...
00:53:32
Speaker
All Punisher-y like with axes and guns and weapons. Looks amazing.

Batman 2 and Superman Movie Updates

00:53:37
Speaker
Yeah, can I wait for that? um Colin Farrell. Getting into the DC news of the week, Colin Farrell says the Penguin is only in two scenes for the Batman 2.
00:53:48
Speaker
He's been talking a lot about that. He's read the script and said that he's not in it much. um He had a whole series, so understandable. They want to yeah they want to go expand it the universe somewhere else.
00:53:59
Speaker
um More Batman 2 news. This came out today. Rumors that Sebastian Stanman is not going to be playing Harvey Dent. are Rumors say he's going playing Victor Zazov. Zazov. Zazov. Who's been in a couple... He's been in Batman. He's been in Batman Begins, right? He's in Batman Begins.
00:54:20
Speaker
um Just in the background or something, yeah. He was in another movie too, one of the other Batman movies. Or maybe it was a TV show I'm thinking of. It was in Gotham. Rumors that he's going playing him instead of Harvey Denton. The actual actor who's going to playing Harvey Denton is Brian Tyree Henry, Paperboy, from Atlanta. that came out this That came out today. I'm not sure about that. But again, it's also Snyder. so Right, right.
00:54:43
Speaker
The other news that came out of that article was the Court of Owls do play a part in this lot next movie. So yeah, we'll have to wait and see on that. um And we got new pictures from the set of Man of Tomorrow. Superman, Lex Luthor, and his suit fighting each other in the middle of the streets. um Superman with a damaged suit. Looks like it's been ripped apart by a bomb or something or by ah by a rocket.
00:55:09
Speaker
Cannot wait for that movie. I'm i'm ah very excited for Lex's new armor, so that's awesome. Yes, same. And finally in news, I wanted to bring this up. I know you're a fan Koi. Koi does his show on DC Showcase. Yes, Drew. Yes.
00:55:24
Speaker
And he there's a viral video going around. and I think it came out six to eight months ago of him talking about X-Men coming into the MCU and Wolverine. And I wanted to bring up that theory. I'm sure you've seen it.
00:55:37
Speaker
I reposted it on our TikTok. By the way, follow our all our socials. Follow our

MCU's Mutant Integration Speculation

00:55:42
Speaker
TikTok and our Facebook and our Instagram, our our X accounts. We post a lot of our shorts on there. So if you want to see videos of what we talk about on here.
00:55:52
Speaker
But the one that he posted that's been going around is him talking about the Wolverine movie and what they should do with it. And thought it was fantastic and a fantastic idea. um And he says that Wolverine should not show up in the MCU in the beginning at all.
00:56:07
Speaker
And not be a part of the original X-Men cast. Do the original X-Men cast, like we said before, in the 60s, the 60s number one X-Men. Do that version. um And then slowly bring in the other mutants that we know from the X-Men of the past, of the X-Men series of the movies. But the like like here, the very first number one X-Men is Beast, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Iceman, and Hawk.
00:56:31
Speaker
And our art Angel. Angel, right? Yeah. so Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:56:39
Speaker
great five x five xmen mutants would be great giant size x-men happened ten years later and seventy five that's where wolverine joined that's where colossus join night crawlwer storm I would love to see that later on, maybe a second or third movie, and Coy's right on that. Do not bring Wolverine. This idea for Wolverine is have him debut in a series.
00:57:03
Speaker
Three or four seasons, each season set in a new decade. Of course, you know Wolverine's immortal, so they could easily do this um ma until it catches up to a modern MCU timeline. In other words, first season, he says first season set in feudal Japan, which would be amazing. The very first yeah four and the very first four comics of the Wolverine run are set in Japan, supposedly done by ah done by Miller and Claremont.
00:57:28
Speaker
People love that. I actually bought it this week because I want to i want to read it. People say it's one of the best Wolverine stories. on That and weapon act the Weapon X story, of course. But do that do that for the first season. And then every decade, go up and up until they meet up to whatever the modern, maybe five, six, seven, eight years from now, meet up to the modern MCU timeline. And then debut him into the X-Men that way, like a giant-sized X-Men. um And then, later on, using visual visuals from the TV series set in the 70s, 60s, go back and tell the story of Days of Future Past in an MCU using footage from that show, using sets from that show, placing him back through the timeline. That would be incredible. I love that theory. I wanted to bring that up.
00:58:12
Speaker
um And the other thing, I'm to bring it up until the movie comes out next month. Brand new day, the X-Men theory, the Jean Grey of it all. I saw this going around. I wanted to bring this up up as well.
00:58:24
Speaker
Gene Gray being captured. The world ah ah doesn't understand mutants, doesn't even know they are around. The government does, and they're investigating it. The new trailer comes out. We'll talk about it when we come back. It's probably going come out next week when the tickets go on sale for Spider-Man, brand new day.
00:58:39
Speaker
um But supposedly in the trailer, if you've seen it online, because has leaked, um the government is asking Peter Parker for help to to find Jean Grey, or find Sadie Sink's character, who we were speculating is Jean Grey.
00:58:52
Speaker
um Because for some reason, Gene Cray's powers don't work on Peter for some reason. Not sure why. We'll find that out. um But what if Charles x Xavier has a school in Westchester County?
00:59:07
Speaker
And like Peter, um he made the world forget the existence of mutant mut mutants. Or he's just hid them from the world um using maybe Cerebro. Who knows?
00:59:18
Speaker
um And the theory is Jean Grey, her power is so strong. there's In this leaked trailer, there's a burst of power that comes out of her. And maybe that's where mutants are not only found in America and the world, but maybe that's where the mutant gene comes to life. Maybe she kind of reinvigorates the mutant gene in a lot of people around. And that could be why Peter is kind of acting out and becoming speculation, maybe man spider. um And, of course, weve talked about it before the animated series from the ninety s when when Spider-Man has that problem where his mutations are going out of control, he grows to six arms, he becomes the Man-Spider. He goes to x Xavier's school and tries to get his help and the X-Men's help.
01:00:00
Speaker
At this point, it's almost a foregone conclusion he's going be a Man-Spider or some version of that, but brings him into that secret society and could be bringing the audience closer to actually having an X-Men reveal by the end of this movie. I'm not sure if that's going to happen. I'm not sure if we're going get new Xavier or not. But if Jean Grey is in this, anything can happen. Right.
01:00:20
Speaker
Also, with each new MCU release, solo movie here on out, could we be getting a debut of New Mutants? We could be getting Jean Grey in this, but could we be getting a Storm in Black Panther? The other thing that Koi talked about in his video is Storm. Storm is a claustrophobic, very claustrophobic person.
01:00:39
Speaker
But her power so tremendous, so powerful, that she has the power to control All elements of of of weather. um And having that having that inner inner power of being being so closed off, so scared of being closed off, and then having the whole control of the world around you.
01:01:00
Speaker
he He mentioned it telling that story would be incredible. um Hearing Kugler telling that story in a Black Panther movie would be even better. um So I don't know about that. Doctor Strange she could show up. Doctor dr Strange could show up. Charles x Xavier, Magic, another mutant.
01:01:16
Speaker
Blade, Jubilee, Nightcrawler, Mystique, the whole Nightcrawler, Mystique thing could show up in that movie. Shang-Chi, Logan, Wolverine could debut in that, in Magiropor, who knows. um There's a whole bunch of solo movies we probably we don't don't even know about. We don't know what the trajectory is of the MCU after Secret Wars, but kind of an idea that I had that I seen you going around as well. I wanted to kind of... glom upon um like i mentioned jean's grace powers could they trigger the mutant mutations across the world there's a line in the trailer that's leaked about dna dna mutating uh not just peters um and there is a massive energy burst that comes out off of this island that she's being held at could that be the moment mutants are born in the mcu
01:02:03
Speaker
Instead of Secret Wars revealing the X-Men were always here, would be a great way, a Brand New Day being that true genesis of how mutants end up in the MCU instead. I'd love that more. I think Secret Wars right now has way too much going on. Plus, we get the old X-Men. bring bring some This is a brand new way of telling that story without going into the old way of telling it.
01:02:23
Speaker
um It also

Spider-Man Trailer and Show Conclusion

01:02:24
Speaker
could reinvigorate if if Magneto and and Xavier are seeing all this happen. It would set the stage for them to emerge the years after Doomsday, the years after Secret Wars. If Gene accidentally or intentionally awakens all the X-Genes on the globe, it would give the stage of them versus each other, versus the government, setting the stage for that going forward.
01:02:47
Speaker
lot of potential here. koi Koi has some great arguments. There's some great arguments here as well about what they could do. I just, I really think, we say about Star Wars, we say it about Marvel, we about DC, don't swerve the fans. The fans love this shit. The fans have read these comic books. There's a history here.
01:03:07
Speaker
James Gunn knows that. He goes right to the comic books when he tells the story. Woman of Tomorrow is going to be a shot for shot, almost storytelling of that comic book. Don't Don't go away. That's when we have the problem with Batman and Robin from 1998 with Schwarzenegger. Don't go away from the source material. Stay close to it.
01:03:25
Speaker
That's what matters to us as fans. That's what matters to the audience. They're going see these movies. Make something that the audience already loves, um and we will go out in droves to watch it. And we also, speaking of Spider-Man Brand New Day, got a brand new trailer, like I mentioned.
01:03:40
Speaker
Trailer comes out, brand new poster. Trailer comes out next week. And the full trailer, I'm sure they've refigured it since it leaked. So we'll see. Tickets go on sale as well. July 31st, that comes out. Comes out a couple couple days early for Amazon Prime members, but we're not doing that.
01:03:59
Speaker
That's it for our show this week. We'll come back. One last thing. Yeah, what we got breaking news. I guess breaking in the last half hour is Justice Department has approved the merger of Warner Brothers and Paramount officially, according to 30 minutes yeah How possible? I don't know what that actually means.
01:04:15
Speaker
I don't know. Discussing film. I checked it to make sure it wasn't discussing fish. But it is.
01:04:22
Speaker
So, yeah. How is that possible? About a half hour ago, they posted that. If you don't sense there's government manipulation there, yeah you are out of the loop of how the government works because Paramount is going to airing a UFC event on the White House lawn tomorrow.
01:04:41
Speaker
Nope, nope, Sunday. But yes, this weekend. Sunday, this weekend. If you don't see there's any government manipulation of Paramount deal, you're out of the loop completely. That is unbelievable. I'm glad we left off on that. I'm glad we were able to talk about it. We'll break we'll probably break into that more Until there's something in two weeks, yep. When we come back, we'll break that break that down more. But wow. um Two weeks finale of Widow's Bay comes out on Wednesday. I'll talk about that little bit more in depth of how the series is. I'll get into a couple episodes of Cape Fear.
01:05:10
Speaker
My Adventures with Superman Season 3 starts tomorrow. My project for the next two weeks is to binge Season 1 and Season 2. It's quick. yeah and i are I'm going to watch those and we'll we'll continue talking about the new season. I think like it was that comes out weekly, right?
01:05:27
Speaker
ah New episodes. I believe so, yeah. House of Dragon premieres next weekend. We'll talk all about the premiere for that. Oh, yeah. And when we come back, the big thing we're going talking about, we got our tickets. We're going seeing Supergirl. We're going review that.
01:05:42
Speaker
Very excited for that. Did not get to KFC this week and get the Crypto Bucket. Did not get the Boba Blue Raspberry drink that I really want to try um Boba. Weird. You ever had Boba before? the Little popping balls? Yes. I don't know how I feel about Boba. Fucking strange. yeah Pause. Popping balls. um Shout out, Cameron. That's it, everybody.
01:06:03
