Speaker
on? Hey, what's going on, man? Not too much. Not too much. Technical difficulties leading into two weeks off. It

Sports and Entertainment Updates

00:01:34
Speaker
always happens. But welcome everyone to episode 208. Got a lot to talk about. We missed a couple of sports items we're going to talk about. A couple of bunch of movies, TV shows ended, began.
00:01:47
Speaker
um First, beginning of the month, let's ah cross our fingers and do a show and tell.
00:01:57
Speaker
So many geeky things that we could pull off from the shell. We've been collecting shit for years and now we're ripping it out.
00:02:09
Speaker
So it's time to showcase all the money that we wasted well. C'est la vie, say the old folks, this geek club show went down.
00:02:23
Speaker
I will go first. um Okay. If you remember back about it You might want to show off your background while you do this. Yeah, about a year ago. ah Where is the freaking...
00:02:39
Speaker
um I may not be able to, who's for some reason it's not showing up. But about a year ago, i i announced that the Death of Superman Absolute Edition was coming out. The direct market edition, where you had to go to the comic book store and actually pick it up. And it's a giant coffin.
00:02:55
Speaker
Well, I pre-ordered it, and it came well earlier yeah last month. I have not opened it yet. i was going get some pictures of it, but um it's awesome. It's huge, too. and It paid me to cancel the pre-order.
00:03:11
Speaker
I was just like, I can't just, right after Christmas, i was like, I can't justify that. I just spent too much on Christmas gifts. Yeah. It's heavy, it's huge, and it's an awesome display piece. It goes right next to my my Superman history whatever the hell a big huge book I have. It's about the same size. but nice It's good. It's awesome. I can't wait to open it. I haven't opened the shrink wrap on it yet. It comes with the Absolute Edition.
00:03:34
Speaker
Special slip case. It comes with all the extras that came with the Death of Superman back in 1993. rema Reprinted. And it comes with that magazine, the news Newsday Week magazine, whatever it was. The Death of Superman. It's pretty cool.
00:03:50
Speaker
Sweet. It's heavy as hell. Yeah, looks it looks good. So, really didn't know what to show today. So, in the

Room Redesign and Collectibles

00:04:01
Speaker
process of me redoing my room...
00:04:04
Speaker
I decided to buy some disc plates. yeah, cool. oh
00:04:12
Speaker
That's cool. Nice. Have you ever gone to their website? I have, I've never bought anything from them though. I'll let know how this works out. I got six of them, but there's only three I'm showing. That's cool. Oh, that's cool, yeah.
00:04:28
Speaker
And...
00:04:34
Speaker
Oh, that's cool. fair go oh Yeah, my other ones are I got another Back to the Future one cause i'm turning one corner of my room into a Back to the Future corner since I have so much merch from that movie. And so i got another Back to the Future one that's more like their regular movie poster.
00:04:49
Speaker
And I got a James Bond one and something else. I can't remember where the one is. But I'll be hopefully doing that this week weekend. It'll give me a project. Keep me busy. I got to fucking clean this room. It's disgusting. I got to organize my shelves.
00:05:05
Speaker
I got to organize my comics too. It's the staring stacks of comics staring at me ready to be organized in my drawers. Um, yeah, I haven't bought anything on display. I see, I always see some great stuff on there, but yeah, number one, they can be pricey. Number two, um they're very limited. Like I see one and all of a sudden it's sold out and it's only been on there for like a week they sell out and they don't, they don't reprint.
00:05:27
Speaker
Um, so that's cool. Something like back to the future. There's plenty of, cause it's an older thing, but like new stuff gets sold out really quick. you But yeah, it's a cool little site. Hopefully they work out and stick to the walls correctly.
00:05:39
Speaker
Yeah, I know they're magnetic mounted too. That's really cool.

Royal Rumble and Super Bowl Reviews

00:05:42
Speaker
um First up, Royal Rumble two weeks ago. was expecting expecting so much more from this Royal Rumble and it was disappointment. I these matches were fun.
00:05:52
Speaker
Yeah. It was a disappointment. um Roman Reigns won the men's Royal Rumble. um Braun Breaker, who was my favorite going in, didn't even make it into the match.
00:06:04
Speaker
And that was a horrible writing decision. And apparently, like, three days before that, they had him winning the Rumble and they changed it at the last minute. Something happened, and and from what I hear, he had a herniia hernia, hernia, got hernia surgery, so he may even out for WrestleMania.
00:06:21
Speaker
That may be why this all was done. He re-injured it. Like, he had a slight, like, tear or whatever, slight hernia, and then, like, the next night on Raw, he flipped table and actually, like, hurt it. Yeah, okay. That's what happened. Yeah.
00:06:35
Speaker
yeah Yeah, so lackluster pay-per-view. AJ Styles' last match was probably the best of best thing of the night, but even that was Gunther gunther being Gunther. There's nothing new there. um Right.
00:06:49
Speaker
So we're going into Elimination Chamber. think it's either next week or the week after. Yeah, the side of the day. And then what WrestleMania is like the middle of April again, two nights. so we'll talk about that when it when it comes up. And I believe Darkseid starts the next month too, Darkseid of the Ring Season 6. So it always leads up to WrestleMania because everybody's excited for wrestling. so Yeah, i can't wait. But the other big sports thing that happened was the Super Bowl. So let's jump into T-Tree Sports.
00:07:19
Speaker
teachray sports
00:07:24
Speaker
This is the theme to teach race sports. We need a theme for teach race sports. I couldn't think of anything that would be original. I stole this instrumental from the Gary Shanley show.
00:07:36
Speaker
This is the theme to teach race sports. This is the theme to teach race sports.
00:07:48
Speaker
Um, well, how'd that go, Kevin? Not ideal. Not ideal. um I got to ah DM Chris and ask him if he texted WEI, the local sports station, today because ah Rhode Island number texted in and wants to trade up in the draft to get another quarterback already. um um I love you, Chris. I enjoy going back and forth about Drake May. It's all love. um But yeah, bad game all around. um we were bor in Boring.
00:08:17
Speaker
boring game. It depends. If you like defensive matchups, it was fine. um Outside looking in. The general audience wants scoring, but neither of those teams were going score a lot either way until garbage time, which ended happening.
00:08:29
Speaker
um But because the fourth quarter, I did go over on my Drake May passing yards because he had 235 alone in that quarter. So that was good. I hit one of the four things on my parlay, so I still lost the bet. But um yeah, we couldn't do anything. i don't know what Josh did. I think his idea was... um Have them make a mistake because clearly Drake was not healthy and he was getting fucking cracked all game. That's a couple of things we got to shore up.
00:08:59
Speaker
Will Campbell, gotta to us got to work on your footwork. Granted, he so he probably shouldn't have been playing, to be honest. um And yeah, our offensive line just got absolutely fucking destroyed. um We got outcoached in every aspect of the game.
00:09:16
Speaker
um Again, I don't know what Josh McDaniels was doing there, but I think he was playing it safe because of Drake's shoulder. um And then when he was thrown, they just couldn't really link up on passes, any of his receivers.
00:09:28
Speaker
ah But we're out of schedule. I'm happy with the season we had. It was a fun year. um Looking forward to it next year. Can't believe football is over. I was more sad about that than the actual loss because they got nothing do on Sundays now except for wait for house of Egg.
00:09:45
Speaker
Or game. Which is awesome. Which is awesome. Yeah. But yeah, this, uh, Superbowl outside looking in someone that does not like sports as much was God awful.
00:09:57
Speaker
Um, highlight of the night. I mean, every news article was talking about bad bunny

Marvel's Super Bowl Strategy

00:10:02
Speaker
and that was the art. That was the highlight. No game plays. No, nothing. The highlight of the night was bad bunny, whether you're left or right.
00:10:09
Speaker
Right. Um, And the commercials were lackluster, too. First up, it was announced earlier in the week that the Avengers, Spider-Man, and Supergirl trailers were not going to be a part of the Super Bowl.
00:10:22
Speaker
Well... Part of that was true. There was no Avengers. There was no Spider-Man trailer. Spider-Man is probably coming in the next couple of weeks because that movie comes out in July. but um Robert Downey Jr. did have a Super Bowl party and did post a picture of him and his wife in Super Bowl ah jerseys and watching the game do super Super Bowl Doomsday. For some reason, Marvel... I i have a feeling what what it was.
00:10:50
Speaker
marketing for this movie you're already starting off with 30 second commercial for 10 million dollars marvel doesn't need to spend that much money for marketing they get it automatically yeah um also there's no direct correlation in the film success in being shown at the super bowl no ah never never has been so i mean people might say well deadpool wolverine that was going to make a billion dollars no matter what yeah ah it was So why spend, like you say, when they can put it on YouTube and get close to a billion people to watch that way for free? yeah um
00:11:24
Speaker
They don't need to. they actually marvel And they actually get paid for those views on YouTube too. right You're paying for advertising. It's kind of like if you ever hear like Taylor Swift turning down the Super Bowl, they have to pay. like when When Kendrick Lamar was on last year, and they have to pay. when When Bad Bunny was on this year, you're getting exposed, but you still have to pay out of your own pocket for for the production value, whatever's going to be on the Super Bowl.
00:11:48
Speaker
um The other thing was on the Puppy Bowl. Not on the Super Bowl. James Gunn, of course, big on Animal Rescue. They debuted a another commercial, another trailer for Supergirl, this time with Baby Crypto.
00:12:08
Speaker
Poster's awesome. Trailer was awesome. This is basically the scenes I have on YouTube. ah or TikTok, wherever you're watching this, are basically the scenes of Krypto being found by Kara in Krypton as Krypton's being destroyed. um yeah He's kind of wandering around as a lost puppy and she picks him up And her father, David Krumholz, is looking on at her. That's the first look of ah him as well, Zorro. look forward to the the Krypton lore we're going to get in this movie as it yeah gets blown up. um Yeah, we haven't got that since Snyder.
00:12:39
Speaker
We're going to get a little bit deeper into maybe Bottle Cities, which we have never seen any of these movies. So it's awesome. Getting into the Super Bowl commercials themselves, we did get some trailers. We got a 30 second clip Super Mario Galaxy. We're going to be getting another trailer. Some new posters came out today.
00:12:57
Speaker
um I don't have them on here, but I'll add them to next week because think we're gonna get a trailer this week for that as well. um The movie looks awesome. It's definitely nostalgia mixed with a little bit of the new Mario from Wii and Switch. So we'll talk about that when the new trailer comes out. And a whole bunch of other trailers came out as well. We got the Cliff Booth movie coming out. Yes. With Brad Pitt. It looked awesome. Disney's Hoppers. They to game Yeah, Disney. saw Yeah, it was just like a trailer for for Cliff. It just said like coming to Netflix like, yeah, yeah. We got Hopper is a new Pixar movie from Disney. Disclosure Day had a 30 second spot. Minions and Monsters. This is a new Minions movie. Had a brand new full trailer debut during the Super Bowl. And TED, because it's on Peacock. They've got free free marketing for TED Season 2 coming out just in a few weeks. So it looks awesome. sounds Everything we've seen looks awesome. That's the day. That's the day I think I leave for Florida, March fifth
00:13:55
Speaker
yeah yeah Yeah, right around that time. um We did get a trailer for Mandalorian and Grogu, if you want to call it a trailer. Very disappointing. It was basically a rehash, re re reimagining of a Budweiser commercial, but with Tauntauns carrying Grogu and Mando. mando With, ah what's his name, Sam Elliott doing the voiceover.
00:14:18
Speaker
it But the best trailer we got of the night. A movie i'm very much looking forward to is Project Hail Mary. The trailer looked awesome. It was if it debuted online during the Super Bowl. Trailer, poster, everything about this movie. Everybody says it's a great story. It's read the book. Don't know anything about it. I'm going to go in blind. But very excited. It comes out next month. Best commercial of the night was the Duncan's commercial with ah everybody de-aged from the ni You got Jamal, Janelle, Janelle White from, uh, Family Matters, Urkel. You got Joey from Friends. You got Ben Affleck, of course. You got, what's his name from, from, Seinfeld. Um, George Costanza. You got Carlton and you got Tom, you got Tom Brady and Jennifer Aniston looking through the window. Um,
00:15:09
Speaker
the best trail The best commercial of the night, and that's really not saying much because there are pretty bad ones too. This is this is the last year on... What is ABC? NBC. network NBC. yeah the NBC. Next year, Disney the next day had this huge trailer promotion that they're going to be debuting on ESPN next year and and and and Disney Plus and Hulu and all that. So... um pretty new big new trailer with all their characters at spider-man and iron man and all the animated characters as well um so they're gonna be now non-stop promotion yeah could see a marvel trailer here because i feel like they i mean they'd be paying but they'd be paying free promotion right free promotion it's like all the all the superman like yeah um promotion last year was basically on tnt and
00:16:01
Speaker
anything that warner brothers owed so Yeah. i'll be smart do it next year but yeah yeah yeah cause we're gonna be probably getting probably getting a disney plus commercial probably beginning ventures secret wars commercial at that time depending on if that movie is pushed back or not so yeah we'll have to wait and see but the reason why we took last week off is kevin took an impromptu trip to philadelphia

Philly Cheesesteak Experience

00:16:25
Speaker
Philadelphia area.
00:16:26
Speaker
Philadelphia area adjacent. We talk about food all the time. One of the big things we always talk about are Philly cheesesteaks. So we've been kind of talking back and forth of a place down there that you can try to bring stuff back up. And there's this place that we've seen for like a year called Curly's. outside of Philadelphia, Levittown, somewhere like that. Yep. And you stopped on the way back home, grabbed some things, and grabbed us a couple of cheese steaks, grabbed us some wings, and we're going to talk about it.
00:16:56
Speaker
ah Looking at the picture of the place itself, it's very diner-like. Very small. There's like four tables. Very small. Yep. Uh, it looks like an old, like maybe checkers. says i was going to say it looks like an old fast food restaurant. Yeah. definitely Um, the steak sandwich itself review, um, not a lot of seasoning on the steak. I was expecting a little bit more. Um, very chewy too. I don't know how yours was, but some of my, mine was fantastic. I had, I had no issues. It was one of the best cheesesteaks I've ever had.
00:17:27
Speaker
Oh, really? Yeah, it wasn't one of mine. wasn't one of my favorites I've ever had. Very cheesy, though. Cheese was good. They used Cooper Sharp. The best thing that I've had from there, and you're probably going to agree, are these fucking wings. The Honey Habanero?
00:17:40
Speaker
The Honey Habanero. So good. Kevin gave me the rest of his. They finished, yeah, because I ordered a six-pack, and that's basically what you got for a six-piece. That's a six-pack. And I was going to...
00:17:52
Speaker
Massachusetts for the Super Bowl, so I just was like, here, take half of it. Oh oh my god. But holy hell, that sauce was good. That sauce was so good. Wasn't habanero, you're thinking spicy, wasn't it all? was very mild. No.
00:18:03
Speaker
It was very sweet with a little bit of heat to finish it off. It was very good. Did you end up getting buffalo too? What did you get for the other sauce? oh you just got that? thought you got another door No, I just got six. I got, um, cause you wanted six. and I was like, oh I'll get 12. I six.
00:18:17
Speaker
Thinking six was like six tenders. Um, yeah so I just got 12 of those. They loaded it, loaded it with wings. It was fucking crazy. Um, I ordered some, I ordered some sauces. They didn't put them in there. Didn't realize until they got back here. So I had plain ones. They're okay. But the sauce, the, the, the honey habanero was fucking incredible.
00:18:40
Speaker
Overall, first place we're trying on the podcast from actually Philadelphia within six hours. um Of course, it's not as fresh as when you're going to get it actually at the store. and We didn't have to warm it up at home. I tried to warm it up in the oven.
00:18:54
Speaker
Oh, you should have done the air fryer. Yeah, I should done that. That's what I used and it came out absolutely fucking perfect. Yeah, should have done that. Yeah, was higher on it than you were. but Homemade rolls, sesame seed homemade rolls. Very good. Probably a 7.5 out of 10 for me.
00:19:11
Speaker
If we're going to be doing the old the old Dave Portnoy rules for rating. Mine was usually like a 9. The place I had the day before was like a 7. Yeah, where did you go before? You went to Tom's. Yeah, yeah. They did the, ah there there wasn't much meat to bread ratio. A little upsetting, but the steak itself was seasoned really well and very good. But that steak's a little bit tougher because it wasn't um chopped.
00:19:35
Speaker
It was like the steak, what are they, like medallions, patties, whatever. um But yeah. Very awesome. Very cool. Kevin's going back down next week, next month. He may be picking up some more. We'll have to wait and see how it goes. We found one place, but it's kind of out of the way, so we're not sure going to do that or not. But we'll to wait and see.

Better Call Saul Finale Discussion

00:19:56
Speaker
What we watched. We watched quite a bit. Some movies, some TV shows. I did finish Better Call Saul, from season six. um Very good. Nacho, great character of this show. R.I.P.
00:20:11
Speaker
um That scene is so awesome. I think it's episode 7, 8, and 9 are these great story arcs throughout the whole entire thing. I think that's what it was. It's either 6, 7, or 8, or 7, 8, and 9.
00:20:23
Speaker
Episode 7 was the best episode of the series. That's the one where Howard, R.I.P. to him, gets killed by Lalo. um who is a fucking menace in this show, played by the guy who plays the the swordsman in the MCU. I don't remember his name off the top of my head, but he's great in the show. Very menacing. um Episode 8, Point and Shoot, Odin Kurt had his heart attack during that episode. So he wasn't in it that much. yep While he was filming it. on Episode 10, the series, the season takes a turn and becomes a black and white series. Showing what showing um from that point, from episode 1 to 9 in this last season, you got...
00:21:08
Speaker
The past. Before he meets Walter White, before he meets Jesse Pinkman, you got the past everything that that Jimmy leads up to Salt. At episode 10, it goes black and white jumps to the future past Walter White's passing when he died at the end of Breaking Bad. And you show him... Where's he in? He's in like Wisconsin. know Where's ah where is Saul? Or this this Jimmy? Where did he end up going? He ran away somewhere.
00:21:33
Speaker
um whereas in his but I don't remember. He's working in a mall in a Cinnabon. Nebraska. He's in Nebraska. Yep, that's where it was. um He's working in a Cinnabon. And he meets ah Carol Burnett. Who I knew was a huge fan of the show. She also shows up in Pluribus as well. But she plays a a neighbor that kind of knows who he is. Or knows him. Doesn't know who he is. Finds out who he is through this last of the season. And ends up calling the cops on him. Big huge chase out. ends up ends up becoming and Ends up getting arrested at the end of the series. And goes to jail. Goes to prison. Spoiler. um
00:22:08
Speaker
Episode 11. I was shocked as a Home Alone fan from the 90s to see fucking Buzz, Macaulay Culkin's brother in Home Alone, show up.
00:22:19
Speaker
um And Jason Pinkman and Walter White show up in that episode as well. and then Walter shows up again in the last episode. Episode 12, he's reunited with Kim on the phone. They talk to each other for the first time. And Kim is where?
00:22:31
Speaker
Where is Kim located? Where Kim is in Florida. just go to Florida. Where I go every year. she's She's changed her identity. She's kind of changed her life. She's quit being a lawyer. She started working at a a sprinkler factory. In episode 13, the finale is called Sal's Gone. And Saul's Gone. And Saul is in prison. And Kimberly actually meets him in prison, um tries to, he tries to defend himself, but realizes that he's got himself so deep in problems of throughout the years that he just keeps it. be he did, he did knock it down to seven and a half years, which is insane. He did.
00:23:09
Speaker
He had the opportunity to be out. Yeah. Yep. yeah Now he's in there for life. um And the last scene you see is him standing in the prison yard and Kim's walking out of the prison and they're just kind of just looking at each other as they're leaving. love how they have one last cigarette together the trial. Yeah, that's very cool. Which I didn't pick up on the first time because when I watched it, I watched the first few seasons and then basically waited until season four was on Netflix. So I completely forgot that in the earlier seasons, they would have a smoke together all the time.
00:23:38
Speaker
So when I rewatched it this time, I was like, oh shit, picked up on that. yeah um And I went back because as you mentioned after you watched Saw, watch El Camino. I never watched the whole thing. I watched maybe a half hour of it when it first came out.
00:23:53
Speaker
um This is the movie that came out on Netflix back caught probably almost 10 years ago now. when ah It was when season four was coming out of Saw because they filmed it during season three.
00:24:05
Speaker
Okay, okay. um Yeah, Salt wasn't in the movie. in the movie i was surprised. But this is all Jesse Pinkman's story after Breaking Bad and what happened to him when he escaped and where he ends up going. Spoiler, he ends up going to Alaska at the end. But you meet a lot of characters from the Breaking Bad universe in this. um You meet his two friends in the beginning who try to help him out. and They take his El Camino that he escaped with and they trade him another car. um And he's being chased by police. He's trying to hide his identity.
00:24:33
Speaker
Very cool story. Which in Saul, they also mentioned that ah Jesse's car was found near the Mexican border. Yeah, they mentioned that going to Mexico, yeah. yeah um Very good movie.

Fallout Season Finale Reaction

00:24:43
Speaker
This is on this is exclusive to Netflix. um And it does kind of it's good finish his story, but he is still out there in Alaska.
00:24:51
Speaker
I could see this story continuing years from now. Maybe when Saul goes out of prison for good behavior. I could see him and Jesse Pickman meeting up again in there's in their 50s or 60s. Well, by then, I think Odenkirk will probably be in his 80s. Yeah. um um it wass like It's a good movie. It's it's good. It ends his story beautifully, just like Saul ends the entire universe kind of beautifully.
00:25:14
Speaker
yeah um It's got some like fluff to it. um And some like random shit happens to him, like the gunfight. Yes. but That was crazy.
00:25:25
Speaker
That was a crazy scene. hour and a half two hours um yeah a two-hour movie yeah yeah very good um follow season two we had a finale i have not been high on this season wasn't really big on the finale as well um for a reference to um my one of the discords i'm in does watch longs and i think there were 12 people in it for the premiere and during the final there was three Okay, yeah. During the watch party. The hype definitely went down on this show. The end of the show, the ghoul, Walter Goggins, is going to Colorado. And there's hinted, I think was an after-credits scene, that there's going to be this Iron Giant-like... mecha monster that they've created that's going to be used for all the bad things in this universe. I don't know. I wasn't impressed with this season. I'm not sure how I feel about going into a season 3. I know people love this game. people are going to be watching it, but for me, wasn't thrilled with this season at all. Not like I was with the first season. first season had a lot of great surprises, lot of great moments.
00:26:35
Speaker
The people I've talked to that like are in love with these games also are not high on this season. Okay. i was They messed up some of their favorite characters and stuff like that. so Okay. All right, Because i haven't looked I haven't heard anything about this show. That tells you something. And you usually hear a lot of hype. I haven't heard a damn thing about it. So that that that's the first thing I've heard about anybody talking about it. but But a great fucking show. And this is what everybody should be watching.

Dunk and Egg Spinoff Excitement

00:27:01
Speaker
One of the highest rated, this last week's episode was one of the highest rated episodes of any Game of Thrones show. It's insane. 4. um But, The Night of the seven a night of the Seven Kingdoms, episodes 3 and 4. Episode 3, which we've been hinting to it for a while, now we get to talk about it because it's happened, but... You finally find out who Egg is. um He is Aegon, one of the sons. Aegon the Unlikely. He ends up becoming king. um There's actually a person in the in this jousting area that's ah that does premonitions and tells him that you're going to die later on. You're going die in Spoilers. I'm not going to talk about spoilers. I went ahead and i read about it.
00:27:46
Speaker
Yes. I know how he dies. It's kind of fucking crazy. I hope they do it for the show. um So Egg's identity be is found. Dunk is fucking pissed that he lied to him. and Dunk is also arrested because the reason why Egg gave his identity up is to save Dunk because Dunk had tried to save the girl that he likes because she was being attacked by one of the Targaryens.
00:28:10
Speaker
Yep, Arion. Fucking crazy. Arion's basically like this version's Viserys, Daniel's brother. Okay. And Egg is like, and of course the premonition is you'll die in a fire and everyone that knew you will celebrate.
00:28:24
Speaker
And that's because he's basically, when he's on the throne, he tries to give more power to the poor people. Yeah. And so he's basically Bernie Sanders and everyone in the great houses are Donald Trump.
00:28:38
Speaker
yeah so So everyone fucking hates him. yeah um Episode 4, this past episode, like I mentioned... The Trial of Seven. Because of Dunk doing this stuff in this last episode, the Targaryens put him on a trial... or what That kid puts him on Trial of Seven, where he has to find seven people to fight for him in a jousting tournament.
00:29:03
Speaker
um And if he doesn't find the people, then the gods are pretty much saying that you that people aren't for you, so you're just going to automatically die. um By the end of the episode, he finds six.
00:29:13
Speaker
He finds six people and he's missing one. And then all of a sudden the doors come slam, come slamming open and eggs uncle comes flying around on a horse and says, he's going to join the side of dunk, the hand of the king, the hand of the king.
00:29:31
Speaker
um and that sets out into motion what we're going to getting next season. and then of course, right as this happens, the iconic game of Thrones, Yes, they finally did it. Music plays in full as the credits roll. Fucking incredible. I think it's like a 9.7 on IMDb right now. One of the highest rated shows on of Game of Thrones and in all the episodes. um

TV and Movie Highlights

00:29:53
Speaker
But next week, we're going be getting this trial of seven. We're going to be getting this huge jo dr jousting tournament, the penultimate episode. There's only six this season. So next week, this ah just a couple days from now as we're recording on Sunday, we'll talk about it next week. But I cannot wait for the Trial of Seven. It's going to be Dunk trying to become the knight that he is. Knight for the people.
00:30:16
Speaker
And I cannot wait to see that. I feel like this should be the like the one episode that goes like to 50 minutes. But again, it's gonna be like 32 minutes, which is kind of up upsetting because these things, they fly like they're over in the blink of an eye. But I am having so much fun with it. um Yeah, me too. I'm loving it. I'm not caught up on what we're going to about next. So keep it trying to keep it spoiler free because I'm going watch it this weekend.
00:30:37
Speaker
Okay. um Do you want me to talk talk about a character who left the show and why they left the show? sure Not really a spoiler, but um Brett Goldstein left the show because he's filming Ted Lasso Season 4. Okay.
00:30:52
Speaker
yeah his His story arc was finished this last episode, but that's all we're going to talk about. Great series. um We talk about it all the time. show's amazing. Between Super Bowl and everything else going on this week, I completely forgot. Completely forgot. Plus, I'm doing Dexter again.
00:31:08
Speaker
fucking de Oh, Dexter. Did you see my Facebook post about it? Yeah, I did. I saw, yeah. Yeah, but yeah yeah cannot yeah I cannot wait just for now ah cannot wait for Dexter to return. um we We were lucky last year. We had two seasons of Dexter within six months of each year. And now can do Resurrection right after, so I'm happy.
00:31:28
Speaker
It's exciting. Shrinking is on Apple TV. If you want to watch it, it's great. Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, great cast. um Another great show. I'm sure you did not watch this, but i did my God, it was fucking awesome.
00:31:43
Speaker
The Muppet Show returned, Seth Rogen producing it. It had the star guest starring role of s Sabrina Carpenter, but it wasn't redone for a new audience. It it was just like if you watch the Muppet Show back in in the 70s or reruns to the 80s like I did,
00:31:59
Speaker
It was the Muppet Nothing changed. It was just like a continuation of the show, which was awesome. The only big difference was that the actor who's doing the voice of Kermit sounds weird. It's going be hard to get used to. But other than that, fuck, it was great. And the ratings, it ended up you being on ABC the night of.
00:32:18
Speaker
um showed It showed up the morning on Disney on disney Plus, but the night of was on ABC. Ended up getting like 3.1 million viewers that night on ABC. which nowadays is fucking crazy. Um, but a lot of people, a lot of people are were saying that this was a pilot. It was pretty much an open door pilot that if this was a success, that the series was going to be picked up. Um, and a lot of people are saying and loving it and talking about it last week on, on, on, on X and, instagram or wherever they were talking about how awesome it was so um yeah it looks like we may be getting more no official word yet but oh fuck it was great and it's it's very if you want to watch it if you love if you love the muppet show nostalgia the muppets back in the day it's it has some secret innuendo adult humor in it too like like it was back in the 70s so it's for our adults it's for our kids kind of a mixed audience so it's kind of cool that way
00:33:13
Speaker
i always liked I wasn't a huge fan of the Muppets per se, but I did love the Muppet Baby show. we Remember that thing back in the day? loved I never really got into the puppet parts, but yeah, I loved that cartoon.
00:33:28
Speaker
Yeah, i love I love the old school Muppet show, like especially when Luke Skywalker shows up in one of the episodes. It's fucking awesome. It's 70s nostalgia. But yeah, great. This is on Disney+, and hopefully just watch it, because if more people will watch it, the more than a new season will be made. And I hope really hope that a new season is made.
00:33:47
Speaker
um We watched some movies. We're going review them. First one, I watched The Wrecking Crew on Amazon Prime. I have not seen this yet. but Dave Bautista? Spoilers matter.
00:34:00
Speaker
ah No, not really. Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa play brothers. That's the only spoiler, really. um Not really a spoiler. They're in Hawaii, and they're being and they're being they're they're trying to so to find out who killed their father slash adopted father.
00:34:15
Speaker
um and They're, that's basically what the movie is about. Lots of action, lots of brother, brother on brother humor. Um, they work well together. Jason Momoa. Um, it's funny cause I just started watching, rewatching game of Thrones and seeing, seeing him 10 years ago in that show after watching, just remembering that's why that's where he got his start. But um Yeah, it's it's a pretty good movie. Probably like a three and a half out of five. It's worth watching. It's funny. Lots of action.
00:34:46
Speaker
that's it's It was just a fun movie. yeah Very good. This is on Amazon Prime for free if you want to watch it. um Great movie. a Very good movie. The Housemaid. Cindy Sweeney. Amanda Seyfried. I'm not a huge fan of Amanda Seyfried, but she was great in She was great in Alpha Dog?
00:35:06
Speaker
Alpha Dog. yeah every dark dog i wonder her Yeah, you got me into that movie, too. Cindy Sweeney. America's Sweetheart now, of course, but she's great in this movie as well, and this is going to be the start of a franchise, but basically... And and Batman. You forgot Batman's in it.
00:35:20
Speaker
Batman, supposedly. the guy What's his name? Brandon Scenar. He is really good in this movie. Very good in this movie. Awesome turns. No spoilers. yeah um yeah so No spoilers, but did you see the twist coming?
00:35:36
Speaker
ah Oh yeah, definitely It was very easy to spot I saw the twist coming from a mile away yeah But the way it played out, I did not see coming Which I enjoyed that aspect like It played out differently than I thought it would have And it played out much earlier than I thought it would have yeah But ah I really enjoyed it Yeah Good movie. Yeah, for ah four out of five for me as well. um And another movie, it was on my radar, We Bury the Dead. This stars Daisy Ridley, Ray from Star Wars. Zombie kinda zombie kinda movie. um not Not a traditional zombie movie where the zombies bite you and you turn into one. Basically, the premise is the United States sets a bomb off in in New Zealand or ta Tasmania.
00:36:21
Speaker
And the bomb turns everyone, kills them, and then they end up waking up. like four or five days later and some of them start waking up four or five days later and turn into these zombie-like creatures but they don't bite anybody they're slow they don't really do any damage to anybody they're just ghosts of what they used to be and Daisy Ridley her husband was on a work trip there and she goes over there to do cleanup and but the whole premise is her trying to find her husband um and no spoilers but i mean if you want to watch it just came out Um, three and a half out of five, not, not the best movie I've ever seen. Not the best zombie thing I've ever seen, but it's good original story. Not a lot of chasing and involved, not a lot of zombie chasing involved, like just zombies chasing somebody, but, um, yeah, not, not too bad. Not kind of a decent movie.
00:37:12
Speaker
Um, but the last movie we're going to talk about so much fucking suspense in this movie. got one more thing we're going to talk about it first, this but go for it. Marty Supreme.
00:37:23
Speaker
Oh, you did see that. We'll talk about that a Yes, forgot to tell you guys. Marty Supreme with Timothee Chalamet done by one of the Safdie brothers, Josh Safdie. And it also had Tyler, the creator. It had Gwyneth Paltrow. It had French Dresser. Weird, weird cast all around. But basically, Marty Supreme is based off a true story about a guy who played ping pong back in the 50s, 60s, and was very like very much a hustler throughout New York City, throughout the world. And Timothee Chalamet played this character perfectly.
00:38:01
Speaker
yeah Very good movie. yeah Four and a half out of five, I think. I'll stick with a four half. I'm going to stick with a four and a half. but Very, very good. and I think he should win some awards for it. um yeah he's just It's probably one of the best movies I've seen with him particularly and up in a starring role. he's always been to me he's always been very good but he's never like everyone calls him like the next daniel day lewis or like leo to me he still hasn't had maybe this performance would be that but he still hasn't had like that before this is the this is the first movie i actually thought that with this performance right where i think he has a shot at winning uh actor um for something like dude really wouldn't lean into that type of uh award um
00:38:46
Speaker
But yeah, I thought it was very good. Yeah, very good. um And you saw The Bone Temple. You saw it 28 years later. when You just added that to the list. yeah um When I was in Philly, we usually try to see a movie because we met by talking about movies, me and my buddy Mark. um I won't give too much away. It's very good. If you like the last one, it's a very good continuation of that.
00:39:07
Speaker
And the ending will give you a very... big smile and make you look forward to the next one. this willll come up up the ti next I have no idea, but i I already know the spoiler. I was spoiled like a month ago. I'll just let you know when that happens, like you're like, yes, let's fucking go. Cause it's going to bring all the entire universe back together. And I'm here for it. I can't wait.
00:39:29
Speaker
Yeah. Very cool. We'll talk about it when I see it. Maybe for spoiler. that's more Awesome. Awesome. Um, with that being said, uh, let's jump into the news.
00:39:40
Speaker
you
00:39:46
Speaker
And it's not a new segment of the trailer. I don't have my sound effects today. um First trailer for Michael. This came out during the Super Bowl weekend.
00:39:57
Speaker
Looks awesome. Comes out on April 24th. that All the posters, all the trailers are saying his story begins. I'm um'm wondering if this is the first part.
00:40:08
Speaker
A lot of people are speculating that as well. They've been speculating that ever since we found out that they had to cut the filming short because the third act was all fucked up. And all the trailers was basically just 80s, Michael, before even Dangerous. It was all bad, and it was all it was all Thriller, Michael. it wasn't anything past that. um The Pepsi commercial was in there. um the ah The Motown 25 was in there. Thriller, of course, filming Beat it All that stuff was in the trailer. It looked awesome.
00:40:36
Speaker
Cannot wait for that, and hopefully we'll know more about that. Probably by the time the movie comes out, I'll probably see part to part one or something in the beginning of the credits or something to like let you know. But no official word from them. Got got a brand new final trailer for Scream. Scream 7 coming out and later this month, a couple weeks from now. um Nev Campbell starring, of course, in all the posters. Some of them nostalgic looking, looking like something out of the 90s. Her and her daughter. ah Yeah, not much to talk about that. Comes out in just a couple weeks. We'll talk about it more then. Brand new trailer for devils where Devil Wears Prada 2.
00:41:12
Speaker
I don't remember much about the first one. Probably going back and watch it because I don't remember anything about it really. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci on the on the cover of the poster.
00:41:23
Speaker
Brand new trailer for Tales from 85, The Stranger Things animated show. Netflix, I don't know who's doing the voices. I don't know if they came back to do any if any of them came back to do the voices, but It is what it is.
00:41:37
Speaker
probably It looks like the standard animation that's after What If came out. Everybody's been doing it. yeah So, yeah. um This trailer looked awesome. The drama. Basically, what it is is Zendaya and Robert Pattinson are going to be married. And Zendaya is keeping a secret.
00:41:55
Speaker
In the trailer, she doesn't say what the secret is, but she's done something in her past that kind of turns her off from her friends, from her fiancรฉ, Robert Pattinson. And then the movie's probably going to be talking about whatever that secret is, whether she killed somebody or that's kind of what they're hinting to. but um yeah Called the Drama comes out on April 3rd.
00:42:14
Speaker
We'll talk about that later in the year. This trailer looked awesome. I don't even know. It's on Netflix, March 6th, just a couple weeks. Called War Machine, starring Alan Richardson, where he plays a Navy SEAL, looks like a Navy SEAL type of army member, who goes into a post-apocalyptic world where a big, huge war machine goes after him, like a Terminator-style war machine. And he's being chased down by The trailer looked awesome. Don't know anything about it other than that.
00:42:45
Speaker
But it does look really good. We'll talk about that more when it comes out in just a couple weeks. Brand new trailer for a couple of TV shows, Rooster. This is the Ted Lasso, creator for Ted Lasso, Bill Lawrence. He also does Shrinking. is This is a new show with Steve Carell. This is going to be on HBO Max just a couple weeks on March 8th. It looks funny. Looks like that type of humor like you get in Ted Lasso's Shrinking te and Bill Lawrence shows. So yeah yeah, another show, Young Sherlock. This is a prequel done by Guy Ritchie of the movies when they were younger. um Yeah, it just looks it looks like just a regular Sherlock Holmes story. So comes out on Prime on March 4th. You may watch that. Another so movie i never, or a series, coming out Netflix, never heard of.
00:43:29
Speaker
Executive produced by Steven Spielberg. um Kind of reminds me a lot of those National Geographic's like Earth, those documentaries, but it's all about dinosaurs. And they're reimagining how dinosaurs lived on Earth, how they became extinct, and these the CGI and the effects in this look ah incredible. Of course, it's done by Amblin Entertainment with Steven Spielberg in as a head of it. So yeah, this looks really good. Comes out on Netflix, March 6th, documentary series. I probably will watch that cause it looks really good and interesting. yeah But the big thing that we're going be talking about pretty thoroughly is how awesome this Spider Noir trailer fucking was yesterday. Holy shit.
00:44:10
Speaker
Nicolas Cage, number one, born to play this role as who we found out is going to be Ben Reilly. That's going his character. He's not going to be Peter Parker. And there's going to two ways of watching it. Probably to start off watching the color towards the end of the week when they air. I know they're all airing at once, aren't they? Yep, it's all at once. I'm doing black and white. I'm going to do both probably before we record the next week.
00:44:36
Speaker
but um Spider Noir continuation of the Spider-Verse movie, showing him in the 1930s as this kind of Humphrey Bogart-like character, private investigator, reminds me a lot of like the Maltese Falcon. um And yeah, just here's a little sample of what the color black and white's going to look like. And Lamore Morris from New Girl is going to be playing Robbie Robinson, who works for Daily Planet. There's a new woman playing Cat Grant, who is a
00:45:07
Speaker
People are speculating she's going the black cat. We'll have to wait to see. um he hast he also ah Ben Reilly is going to have an assistant working outside of his private investigator office. That's her in the bottom right there. But he does take the mantle of the spider.
00:45:22
Speaker
um Not Spider-Man, but he's going called the spider instead of Spider-Man. Kind of like the shadow, kind of like the spirit of the old... um cereals of the 1930s makes sense um nicholas cage says his performance in spider noir is 70 humphrey bogart and 30 bugs bunny i think the trailer definitely definitely signified that um let's see where we at here uh there's more pictures some black and white pictures Just looks incredible. And and they had some so they had some ah web slinging in this. It looked awesome. Just looks really good. Comes out on the official date, May 27th. Eight episodes. i Got some information on the villains of the series. We know pretty much all the villains already.
00:46:06
Speaker
Brendan Gleeson, who is Mad-Eye Moody in Harry Potter. He's going to be playing Silvermane. He is a mob villain from the Spider-Man universe. He's going to be a gangland boss, subject to repeated assassination attempts, and the Spider is going be all in the middle of it. Jack Houston. Now, I know you watched... um um Yes, Boardwalk.
00:46:28
Speaker
Boardwalk Empire. and I know he's in that. um He's going to playing a version of Flint Marco, Sandman. um Here's the characters that showed up in the trailer. Of course, that's Brandon Gleeson. But on the right there on the top, that that is Sandman in the trailer. We also get a glimpse of Electro.
00:46:47
Speaker
We also getnna get a glimpse under that of Molten Man, and we get a glimpse of Man Spider. um Crazy that we get all these early. I was hoping that we would get some glimpses in the show itself, but they just threw them all in the trailer in random scenes.
00:47:01
Speaker
But the big one that everybody's talking about is, wait a minute, is that fucking Mr. Negative? If you played the Spider-Man game for PS5, Mr. Negative was the main villain of that of that of that game. And that very much looks like that could be somebody from the negative zone. um' I'm wondering if they did pull that off in this or not.
00:47:20
Speaker
Or if they're setting it up for a season two. Yep, could be, yep But episode one comes out on MGM+. plus This is Amazon's version streaming service for on May 25th. And the whole series on all eight episodes drop on Amazon Prime on May 27th.
00:47:38
Speaker
We got some other pictures of that as well. um Oh, no, I don't. I thought I did. but Wait for that one. say It looks awesome. Cannot wait. Weekend box office. Send help ah for the for the for the two weeks we were gone. Was number one both weeks. it Made $30 million two weeks Did I never talk about that? can't remember. Did talk about before we went off last night? I think you talked about it before went off. I think I did, too. You did love it, though.
00:48:05
Speaker
Number two, a couple weeks ago, Iron Lung. hear a lot about that movie. You don't know anything about it. Number three, in the Melania movie. Don't even want to get into it, but that's crazy. Number

Tributes and Industry Changes

00:48:15
Speaker
two, last weekend, Solo Mayo.
00:48:18
Speaker
This is the movie with Kevin james James. If you were watching the Super Bowl and a lot of the the following the Super Bowl... You may have seen so Kevin James sitting in the stadium of the Super Bowl with ah with a bouquet of flowers just sitting there looking sad. This is promotion for this movie, Soul Mayo, which was number two last weekend. Never even heard of it until this week when this came out. um But yeah, um had a couple of deaths, couple of big ones. One that just happened this week, but last week, rest in peace to Desmond wilson des demon Wilson. If you've ever seen Sanford and Son back in the day, he played Lamont. um
00:48:56
Speaker
I used to watch the the reruns and like a lot of lot of people did back in the 80s and 90s, Sanford and Son. Of course, Red Fox has been gone for a very long time, but rest in peace to him. He just passed away this week. ah But yesterday, day before, we found out that ah James Van Der Beek passed away.
00:49:14
Speaker
Yeah. Wasn't big in Dawson's Creek, but he was in a lot of yeah he was in a lot of movies that we do love. He was in a lot of Jay and Silent Bob. He was in Strikes Back. He was in Reboot. He's been in a lot of mar stuff. was Varsity Blues.
00:49:30
Speaker
I think I saw that movie like four times in theaters, which was a lot back then. Oh, yeah. just watched it. I just watched it a couple of years ago for the first time yeah for the podcast. Yep. Yeah, James Van Der Beek, one of those nostalgic, recognizable, going-into-the-millennium faces that everybody knew and and recognized. It's fucking scary. He's only six years older than me.
00:49:51
Speaker
Yep, died of colorectal cancer. Just found out last year about it. 40, yeah, 48, 46, 47, 48 years old. I don't know how old he was. But, yeah, rest in peace. Rest in peace to James Van Der Beek. Yeah.
00:50:06
Speaker
A little bit of news on the Paramount, Warner Brothers, Netflix front. ah Paramount decided to add... This is like somebody... Okay, somebody's got a brand new girlfriend. Netflix is dating Warner Brothers. And Paramount is pushing and pushing to be the new boy the boyfriend. To get back together.
00:50:29
Speaker
You're not good enough for him. Let me have you. Here's a little bit more money. Here's a little bit more incentive. And that's what they did this week. um They offered more to the shareholders um per per per share, but they also said they'd give them $650 million per quarter if the takeover isn't done by the end of 2026. And they will also pay $2.8 billion in a termination fee if the Netflix deal is not done. They'll pay it to Netflix. um And I cannot believe I read this, but Warner Brothers Discovery said the boards will review the latest hostile takeover offer. They're actually going to review it, um which includes new the new financial commitments um before it officially accepts the Netflix offer sometime in in March or April. I think they said April, but... God, I i don't know i don't know how the hell this is going to turn out. and I don't think the government is going to pass either one of them. I think they passed Paramount over Netflix, but fuck.
00:51:25
Speaker
Fucking crazy. What a mess. Speaking of mess, Bob Iger is set to step down from Disney before the end of 2026. He already named his his replacement Josh DeMauro, who is kind of the the lead of Disney experiences, the parks and everything. um He's been there since 2020, and he's done the cruises, the parks, and consumer products.
00:51:47
Speaker
um But yeah, he's going to be picking up sometime sometime this year. I don't know exactly when, but... Bob Iger is there to the end of the year, so probably going transition throughout the year to that to him. but um Speaking of nostalgia, speaking of things we grew up with, Ninja Turtles officially going to Paramount. They've actually bought the whole rights. Leard Eastman sold his rights a long time ago to Paramount, but Leard sold his his rights recently. So Paramount's going all in on the Ninja Turtles with a YouTube show.
00:52:24
Speaker
The toy line is going to Mattel, and they're going to be opening pizza hu they're going to be opening pizza restaurants, kind of reminiscent. People are speculating like Chuck E. Cheese, maybe, with with ah characters like the Ninja Turtles walking around and in turtle uniforms. There's going three of them in the United States. ah monterey ah Santa Monica, California, Monterey, Mexico, and St. Paul, Brazil.
00:52:46
Speaker
Oh, it's not even the United States. so So, one in the United States. one in the United States, but... um And Mattel, like I mentioned, doing the toy line. I can't remember who did it before, but wasn't Mattel. They they had them for a long time, the other one. um And the other thing that came out of this was we were talking about how how awesome the last Ronin movie would have been if it not been canceled. um And we find out this week that Judith Hogue, how...
00:53:13
Speaker
who played April O'Neil in the first movie, was actually asked to come back in The Last Ronin. So it would have been a continuation of the 1990s Turtles. Which is a fucking travesty.
00:53:25
Speaker
Because the first one was great. So he would have gotten a live action, actually. Third one was... Third was not good, even though it's time travel. But... Yeah, first one, oh god. And she was only in the first one, too. She didn't come back for the second or third. Was there April O'Neil in the second one? Yeah, the second one. Was there a different actress? Yeah, different actress. Yeah, what we could have gotten. It's kind sad we didn't get it. Terminator Zero announced today. love that show.
00:53:56
Speaker
um It was canceled after the first season. Animated show. One of the best Terminator things they've ever came out with, but it was canceled. for the Nobody was watching it besides me. You know the co-writer of the Batman is the one who was the show writer for that, right? Okay. okay yeah um like to Movie adaptation for a comic book called The Exorcism at 1600 Penn. Blumhouse picked up the story from it. The story follows the president when the White House becomes a supernatural battleground for good versus evil.
00:54:26
Speaker
um We just talked about last week about sex... I can't remember what it was called, but there was another comic book movie that was a comic book turning into a TV show. don't remember what was called, but yeah, another one. um Jorge Lidenberg, don't know who he is, but I've seen him in something. don't know how to say his name. He's taken over the role of Manny. Daniel Romero's had to leave because he's doing Avengers right now. But yeah, Last of Us Season 3 is going to be taking over the Manny role. Joining a reboot of The Rockford Files, David Borealis, who has been in not a lot of stuff lately that I've watched, but he was Angel and Buffy, which I never watched. Buffy, that's where he's from. Okay.
00:55:12
Speaker
Been in a few movies.
00:55:15
Speaker
But yeah, Raffer Files, one of those procedural detective shows way back in the 70s, I believe that show came out. so yeah, ah Greg Mazin, who was in charge of The Last of Us first two seasons, left that show and is going be coming back to HBO, though.
00:55:35
Speaker
for a Baldur's Gate 3 TV series. Baldur's Gate 3 is basically D&D. It is a D&D campaign brought to life in a video game. And it's gonna be add at he's going to adapting it into a television show. Baldur's Gate is basically the gate to hell um in in the Dungeons & Dragons lore. So, I actually played a campaign a couple of years ago in going Going to Hell, and you had to go through Baldur's Gate, so. um Yeah, we'll have to wait see. He did a great job with The Last of Us, so I'm sure he'll give it just as much attention.
00:56:10
Speaker
um Speaking of giving it attention, Apple actually bought the rights to severance. the entire series. I don't have any pictures for that. Um, acquired severance, um, summer, uh, summer, uh, this summer is going to start season three production.
00:56:24
Speaker
Uh, and they're planning a four season run total, um, with possibilities of expanding the universe to other, other, uh, spinoffs and whatever. But the, the main story that they're telling right now will be told in four seasons as of right now. Um, going to start, uh, filming, know, like basically that's all, that's all I said right now. Um,
00:56:45
Speaker
Speaking of Apple TV, a brand new movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh called Mayday coming out September 4th to Apple TV. Apple TV had some sort of a preview thing came out, previewing some movies and television shows this year. This is the first thing they previewed. The other thing was Jonah Hill has a brand new film he did called Outcomes.
00:57:06
Speaker
It stars Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz, Matt Boomer, um and Martin Scorsese. It follows a famous actor who searches for a blackmailer who sent him an explosive video that would destroy his career. This is a movie that comes out April 10th. If you've seen the pictures of this online, you've seen a picture of Jonah Hill. it looks He looks weird because he's lost a ton of weight. He's got blonde hair in it I believe. yeah but It comes out April. We'll talk about that. Also, brand new series coming out. A reboot of Cape Fear. Great movie from the 90s. That was a reboot as well from an earlier movie in the past. but um Harvey Ayer Bardem playing the lead. um
00:57:46
Speaker
Amy Adams and what's his name from the Conjuring movies. and He played em who played um um was Ocean Master from Aquaman.
00:57:58
Speaker
Patrick Wilson. um So, Cape Fear. Love that movie with De Niro. So, i'm I'm sure we'll watch that series, too. And also, we got a brand new first look at John Cena in Mattel's Matchbox movie coming out on Apple TV in October. Mm-hmm.
00:58:14
Speaker
I don't know how this movie is going to be any good. It's not Barbie. It's just cars. It's just it's like Fast and the Furious with John Cena starring. Or like any of those movies, Fast and the Furious, that um Need for Speed.
00:58:28
Speaker
yeah yeah I'm sure it'll be fine. It'll probably be a lot of fun. But it's got Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Tiana Paris, and Turo Castro. don't who that is. But yeah, October 9th comes out on Apple TV.
00:58:42
Speaker
Got a brand new poster for Peaky Blinders, The Immortal Man with Killian Murphy and and what's his name? Barry Coogan in the front. Looks awesome. Cannot wait for that. um Lord of the Rings, the trilogy. Coming out to 4DX for the very first time, gonna be and we don't have any 4DX around here, but Regal is 4DX. It's basically a theme park ride in a movie theater. They're very awesome. The 4D movies are very cool.
00:59:10
Speaker
I wish we did have one close by, but um I would definitely see all three of those movies in 40 weeks. Baby Reindeer talked a lot about it last year in the Star and how she was great in it. um Jessica Gunning is going to be playing Mama Cash from Mamas and the Papas in a biopic. Mama Cass had an interesting story. um She was where the world was obsessed with movie stars and good looks and everything. She did not give a shit. She was a big, heavyset woman from the 70s, 60s, who was in the Mamas and the Papas. um and she is she ah The other thing is she was a single mother in the 60s, which was unheard of back then.
00:59:49
Speaker
Um, and it's going to be a biopic all about her life and how she is she died very young. I think she was in her thirties, late thirties, early forties. Um, and the lady who played, uh, in baby reindeer, who did a great job in that movie or a TV series is going to be playing in this biopic. So i cannot wait. Uh, she was great in that. and i think she'll be a great mama Cass. Um, Austin Butler going to be playing Lance Armstrong in a biopic.
01:00:13
Speaker
Um, don't have a picture of that, but, uh, yeah. Um, Sam Raimi says that Rachel McAdams was underutilized in Doctor Strange to the Multiverse of Madness is why he cast her in Send Help.
01:00:24
Speaker
She's better than that movie. She's awesome send help. Yeah, kind of give her our own her own space to work, which is awesome. um This is a picture I just had on there. Hungry, hippo horror movie coming out. a Hungry Hungry Hippo. it looks like It looks like Jurassic Park but with hippos. so There's the first look. There you go.
01:00:44
Speaker
um sure announced Announced this week Jerry Brockheimer revealed that F1 movie I still not seen yet um is going to be getting a sequel. It's officially in the works. I guess Apple TV is in charge of that. So keep an eye on that.
01:00:58
Speaker
Got brand new first look pictures of Highlander being filmed. We got ah we got Henry Cavill on set. We got Dave Bautista on set. Jeremy Irons. Cannot wait for this. This movie is seems like it's been in production for a while. Pre-production for a while. Finally in production now. So yeah, cannot wait. i'll Also got a brand new first look at Ty West's um Christmas Carol with Johnny Depp playing Ebenezer Scrooge. This is him filming somewhere overseas, but it looks awesome. i i'm not a i'm um'm I'm like mixed on the Christmas Carol, ah everything Christmas Carol, because I only light them up at one. Same.
01:01:37
Speaker
Yeah. You'll have to wait see Um, officially acquired, acquired the rights of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Um, going to be making a TV series first. Um, Glenn Powell is going to be producing it.
01:01:51
Speaker
Um, and the guy who directed The Long Walk is going be directing it. Um, and the movie is also in the early stages of being development developed as well. So is the series is probably going prequel, I'm guessing. Or they could just reboot it.
01:02:02
Speaker
Um, the series could be a prequel and then the reboot could be leading up to the movie is what I'm guessing. yeah Um, But, I mean, just don't fuck it up because we've had so many bad Texas Chainsaw movies. Yeah. And we had some good ones. um highly liked the first two remakes.
01:02:18
Speaker
Then you had the Alexandra Daddario one, which was fine. um Then you had the Netflix one, which was less than fine. Right. Plus the fucking seven original movies and after the first one, not a single one is good. Like there's that one with Matthew McConaughey before he was actually like famous. Oh yeah. he wanted to talk He won't talk about that movie anymore. How bad it how bad it is. Well, he does spend the entire movie beating women.
01:02:43
Speaker
um Yeah. Okay. That makes sense. But yeah, that movie was fucking trash. Okay. second one's actually kind of fun but it's fucking trash the original one to me is the greatest horror movie or one of the greatest horror movies of all time because every time you watch it even the 4k looks like shit like it looks like somebody smeared like vaseline on the screen and you just you feel so dirty after watching it and to me that's one of the greatest tricks to pull off in a horror movie and like i said even the 4k isn't even that much cleaned up like they kept it very gritty and grimy um
01:03:17
Speaker
i love the I love that movie to death. um Just don't fuck it up, buddy. Speaking of horror movies, joining the cast of Mike Flanagan's Exorcist, it's already had Scarlett Johansson, Diane Lane. Joining the cast, Chiwetel, think. Chiwetel? Chiwetel? Chiwetel?
01:03:35
Speaker
ah thinkel shortel cheer tell who was in 12 Years a Slave. He was also in... We'll just call him Chewie. Chewie Ejiofor, who was in 12 Years a Slave. he was in Doctor Strange. um Joined the cast. Lawrence Fishburne joined the cast. I'm very excited for that. Speaking of Mike Flanagan, um he's in the early early stages of doing The Mist, a movie for Warner Brothers. A remake of The Mist. Get this. The out like 2007. was right?
01:04:05
Speaker
and that was a remake right h It was um from Steven's book. I don't think it was remake because they did it i first twenty eighteen in it been a remake, I can't remember. But Steven King said like said that they made changes to it and those changes only helped improve his story. So don't know what they're doing it with it this time. Maybe it's going to be like a more faithful adaptation, I don't know. But Steven King loved the fact they completely changed the ending of his book and...
01:04:33
Speaker
said it was for the better. so Well, i just lay the can Mike Flanagan being in charge of it. I mean, of course, he's doing Carrie now. So, yeah, I have faith too.
01:04:44
Speaker
um universal Universal officially dated The Mummy 4 with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz reprising their roles. Speaker
um Bloody Affair comes out on Tuesday. the full The full Kill Bill story combined into one movie. I'm going to try to watch it before next week's podcast and talk about it because I've been meaning to watch this movie for a while. i think it's the perfect time to do it. comes out on Tuesday if anybody wants to watch that on digital um and Mario Galaxy coming out with some new snacks some new cookies some new Lucky Charms some tricks I'm going have to get those tricks I love tricks
01:05:50
Speaker
I love tricks too. And a little bit more information. We met we announced in the last episode of the WWE 2K26 and what these games are going to include. um Kevin, arty you already pre-ordered the Monday Night War edition, correct?
01:06:06
Speaker
Yes. For $158, which is fucking crazy for these games. It is. um But you do get a lot of characters that you don't get. like the the the old The regular edition with CM Punk on the cover, you do get the bo you get yeah you do get the Joe Henry bonus,
01:06:24
Speaker
preal our bonus And that's basically all you get. um For the Kings of Kings edition, the next the next version up is $100. You get everything, plus you get some virtual current currency. You get Triple H's 1998, Stephanie McMahon from 2000. You get the signature taunt, which is basically the suck it taunt. And for the Attitude Era edition, that's where you start getting more characters. um You get Stone Cold Steve Austin. You get The Rock. You get Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Chyna, Undertaker, Kane,
01:06:54
Speaker
Trish, Lita, so you get all these characters, um and you have to have the $129 edition to get them. and It also comes with a season pass, including the first one first four seasons. It also comes with ah The Rock in 1999, some other ones too. But the big edition that you got...
01:07:16
Speaker
150 edition, not only comes with all that other stuff, but comes with a WCW roster. It comes with hu Hollywood Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Goldberg, Burkert T, Eric Bischoff. No Sting, unfortunately, because he's going to deal with AEW.
01:07:30
Speaker
um Comes with some other stuff. Comes with Shawn Michaels DX, Macho Man Randy Savage 98, Roddy Piper 98. Comes with WCW Thunder, Diamond Dallas Page. Comes with whole bunch of stuff. So... um it'll be It'll be fun. um It's weird that I did because I barely play with anyone else except for my created characters.
01:07:51
Speaker
But I think it would be fun to do like two separate universes, one with current guys and the one with like the old WCW guys. and can Maybe mix in like some guys that are currently on the roster that I think would fit in ECW, which would be CM Punk, Joe Henry, stuff like that. Yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
01:08:08
Speaker
Yeah, to see him punk the whole story of the game is going to be CM Punk's story. It's basically the story mode where you play throughout his career. Which is another reason why I can't wait for it. yeah yeah um Looking forward to it. ah Yeah, I'll give a review, I guess, when I get back from Florida because it comes out while I'll be in Florida.
01:08:25
Speaker
Okay. um Got some video game news we're going to talk about. MetaQuest. Don't know anything about meta. Don't own a meta. Don't own VR. Besides, had PSVR back in the day, but i don't have it I don't use it anymore. But there's a new MetaQuest, Meta, which is Facebook. They're VR. Where you get to have you get to go through a haunted house. But the haunted house is your own house that you live in. um It takes your house and adds ghosts into and they chase you throughout your living room, your house, your kitchen, whatever. It moves through your real home.
01:08:56
Speaker
Looks awesome. There's a little clip of it in the VR that I saw video in the video that wanted to mention. Jason Momoa, never heard of these games ever. Oh, really? I play Helldivers with my buddy. It's fun. Okay. I know it's long enough to time, but it's fun. going to be starring in a movie, Jason Momoa. um Don't know anything about it. i don't have a picture yet. but um Save democracy, bro.
01:09:18
Speaker

Yeah, cannot wait to see some of these and see how they turn out. but um I don't play a lot of video games anymore. I...
01:09:50
Speaker
I i didn't want to, but it's just it takes a lot of time um to get into it. um Scream 7, full into promotion. We got some standees, theater standees. They're a big knife with the ghost face on it.
01:10:05

Last year, Superman Day was in April, and this year, April 18th, Superman Day is going be taking over and it's going become Supergirl Day. of Of course, promotion for Supergirl films, so chances are we'll probably get another trailer or some more promotion during that time. 01:12:08
Speaker
DC Studios' Clayface has been delayed month, a month month month and a half, from April 11th to October 23rd of this year. It's going to fine-tune that movie a little bit.
01:12:19
Speaker
I wonder if... I'm trying to think. So that's either... We should be closed. I think that's the first Friday i will not be working. um Okay. So I'm excited. Hopefully it doesn't get moved like Mortal Kombat 2 did because I was looking forward to watching that as my first post-work movie and it got moved like... It'll be your last ah it'll be a last movie you'll see before you go back to work. Doesn't that come out April?
01:12:42
Speaker
Mortal Kombat? Yeah, Mortal Kombat, yeah. Wow. that That's weird. Something comes out the weekend that we just talked about too. um But yeah, that'll be one of the last ones.

Marvel and DC Universe Insights

01:12:51
Speaker
James Gunn posted a picture of ah of a swamp thing. Good. Holding flowers. People are speculating that it's going to be jumping back into production or pre-production. Um, the director has been talking about it too. Um, recently. So, um, and what he plans to do with the character, how it's going be part of the DCU, but not connected to the DCU. It's going to be like its own thing for now. Um, they eventually bring Swamp Thing back, obviously for just to the dark or whatever, but, um, I can't wait.
01:13:21
Speaker
um Alex Ross, talk a lot about him on the podcast. I love his art. Coming out with a brand new 112 page graphic novel ah comes out in, I believe the end of the year. um It's going to be a tour of classic Marvel Universe and it's going to explore something more massive. um It could could introduce 200 new variants of characters.
01:13:42
Speaker
um There's the cover art for it there. and He just came back to Marvel for the first time in like 20 years doing the full circle Fantastic Four comic. This is him doing the whole entire Marvel run. It looks like variants. It looks like different different characters. It looks awesome. I already pre-ordered it on Amazon. Nice. It was only $30 to pre-order the hardcover. That's not bad. so Um, got a brand new picture of some, some looks like promotion for a t-shirt or something of Dr. Doom from Doomsday. Um, I believe this is true. I've seen some pictures of it, um, out in the wild as well. So we'll have to wait and see. um
01:14:21
Speaker
i mean ah Captain America Brave New World was supposed to have Amadeus Cho. Amadeus Cho is one of the newer hulks in comic books. He's going played by podcasts from from the Ghostbusters, new new afterlife movies, Logan Kim. Um, and, uh, it was supposed to debut in Captain America and the post-credits scene originally featured him and, uh, and Sam, um, in the leader discussing how the leader turned Cho into a Hulk. Um, but it was, I was deleted. I'm not sure if he actually filmed the role, but, uh, yeah, I don't know. Um, and finally in news, some, uh, Spider-Man stuff leaked. A backpack with Spider-Man, but in the background of it, you see Hulk, and a silhouette of Hulk.
01:15:00
Speaker
You see a silhouette of the villain Boomerang, and you see the first glimpse of Scorpion. Very shadow-looking figures, very greeny. You can't really tell who they are, but that's who they are. um Yeah, that's it. That's it for news. i Hopefully we get a trailer for Spider-Man

Episode Conclusion and Future Plans

01:15:17
Speaker
sooner rather than later. but ah next Next week we'll talk about Night the Seven Kingdoms Episode 5. We'll talk about Shrinking Episode 4.
01:15:25

You're going to watch those when comes on streaming. But next week, the big thing I'm going to talk about probably is Kill Bill, the whole bloody affair. Nothing else really to watch. Now that I've done with Saul, I'm rewatching Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad now, nightly. So I'm going to try to keep it light for a little while until I catch up on a couple seasons of that. But yeah, next week we'll talk about Kill Bill.
