Meet the Game Master and Participants

00:01:17
Speaker
Hello, and welcome to Eberron Renewed, an actual play podcast set in the Eberron campaign setting. I'm your game master, Eric. I'm Phillip. I'm Trevor. I'm Randy. I'm Jeff. And welcome to another episode. Gentlemen, what happened last time?

Combat with Warforged: Hob, Kath, and Sigil

00:01:34
Speaker
Three distinct things. Yes. Hob, Kath, and Sigil, in a roundabout way instigated a fight in a more correct way did not.
00:01:47
Speaker
But we're currently, well, two of us are fighting a grip of warforged while Sigil, uh, plays their part exceptionally and stays out of the combat. This sits by quietly.

Reynard and Sana's Stealth Attempt

00:02:02
Speaker
Eris and Milo are not having great luck. And most of it is the fault of dice being rolled in other scenes.
00:02:14
Speaker
And Reynard and Sana are going to are in a great spot to attempt to steal a thing they came to steal. Yes. I'm going to start using Trevor's triumphs on myself. Only seems fair. I like it.
00:02:36
Speaker
OK, so the next spot in initiative order is a regular old NPC slot. So we are going to stick to. Well, no, we'll we'll cut to the combat scene real quick and have the warforged group that Hobb just punched. We're going to have them try to take a swing. So the one that you knocked back
00:03:06
Speaker
stand like crawls to their feet. They seem to be in a pretty bad way. And the two remaining come up and try to come at you, hob and attack you. They have one yellow, one green and two purple difficulty. OK. Although aren't two of them on the ground, because one of them took a club to the head on.
00:03:26
Speaker
Yeah, but the one the one you knocked back back got up and moved to move back up to attack you to success. So that is going to be before soak eight damage. OK. Oh, and you have defense. I keep forgetting that. I need to roll one setback die. Good. Because of your robes.
00:03:53
Speaker
And of course that. And my soak is too high right now. My soak without barrier should be four. Yes. Yes. Your soak is four. Yeah, four. OK, I had my soak set still at seven from barrier last time. Gotcha. OK, so they rolled a failure on that setback die. So seven damage. Hey, cool.
00:04:17
Speaker
So, yeah, they come up one of them slices across your bicep. Hob is a little bit of blood pools on the cut. And yeah, we have another PC slot. So Hob is gone. So we have Eris Milo or Reynard. Reynard was kind of set up in their scene to go do a thing if we want to do that. But the cliffhanger was also an Eris and Milo scene. That's fine. I have no idea at all how to handle this situation.
00:04:48
Speaker
Well, give it a think while Reynard goes. OK, well, I guess Reynard is going to shoot a shot and go for that protruding hip pouch.

Pickpocketing Mishaps

00:05:04
Speaker
I could have found better ways to say that. So Fanny Pack, he's got a Fanny Pack. Let's just be honest about it.
00:05:12
Speaker
OK, so you're going to get an upgrade from Sana's check, plus he is double drunk, so you get two boost die. The difficulty on this is against his perception. It's an opposed check and he's he's got one red, two purple. I am going to spend a story point, though, to upgrade that. So, yeah, so this is going to be two red, one purple.
00:05:39
Speaker
You have an upgrade and two blue on your end. Would you like to spend a story point to upgrade it another time? I think I will. And it's skullduggery. Yeah, skullduggery is. OK. So two upgrades, two boosts die. Against two red, a purple. Go ahead and roll skullduggery. OK, here we go. Oh.
00:06:08
Speaker
to failure. OK, I know how I want this to plan out if if I can do it this way. OK, to failure, though, it may not work. What's your what's your thought process? OK, so the goal was to just kind of. To get to get it was just kind of drunkenly stumble into him. Yeah.
00:06:33
Speaker
and just grab it during that action. But can I use the advantage to offset the failure a little bit by I do that, but I drop it behind him? Like, so now it's behind his feet. Does that make sense? So it's off of him, but you don't have it. Yeah. And it's going to be real awkward to try and get behind his feet to get it.
00:07:03
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, I like that. I like that as a bumbling attempt to pickpocket where, yeah, you drunkenly bump into him, and as you go to reach into the bag, you jostle it, and this metal rod with all of these intricate symbols and everything just goes tumbling down to the floor and rolls on the floor right to the seam of the bar, to where you're gonna have to get your fingers in there to get it out.
00:07:33
Speaker
So so yeah, I like how I just so I think that's make it super hard on me. Well, but the the five advantage. Well, you used a couple advantage to actually like knock it off of this person. I.
00:07:53
Speaker
He doesn't notice. Yeah. Yeah. I will say that he is not immediately aware that it's on the ground, but he is aware of you like you stumble into him and he seems very put off and very perturbed that you are interrupting the lovely conversation he was having and seems. Yeah. Not great. So.
00:08:17
Speaker
So, OK, I want Sonja to take the next slot and I want to just do a flip who's distracting and who's stealing. Sonja took an earlier allied in the song. Yeah, I thought the only I thought that was last. No, she went right after Kath. OK. In the two two slot. OK, so Sigil is is there still Sigil is. I think Sigil's doing what Sigil needs to be doing.
00:08:46
Speaker
Yep. And you know what? For the sake of maintaining things and seeing if you're triumph from earlier can have some legs. Sigil's on the back burner right now in terms of initial order because Sigil is doing their thing sitting on the bench.
00:09:08
Speaker
We're going to use Kipling as an allied NPC since he has Norsen cornered and see if he can maintain that distraction now that it's been a full round. So he has a lot of presence. He's a talker. He's not the most charming person, so no ranks in charming. So it's three green against Norsen's. Discipline, I guess, willpower.
00:09:39
Speaker
Well, willpower, willpower is not of which discipline. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I think discipline is the normal one. Yeah. So. Um. So Norse and Norse and stats have changed a little bit since the last time you encountered him, so his discipline isn't as good as it once was, so it's one red, one purple against Kipling's three green. So, but Kipling is hammered, so that's a setback.
00:10:09
Speaker
Complete wash. So at this point, Norsen doesn't take notice or anything. It's just that Norsen's back.
00:10:19
Speaker
in the mix, so Kipling's standing there like, and the work that you're doing with the Dragon Shard stuff, and like making him into a powder, and Norsin's eyes go kind of wide, and he just pats Kipling's like, yes, yes, yes, that's very, very great confidential work that we're doing, and kind of shoves Kipling to the side and goes back out into the crowd. So we have another PC slot, Eris, Milo,
00:10:46
Speaker
Well, Milo looks at her and says, I don't believe we've ever met, Maris? You? I don't think so. No, no, I don't believe we know each other at all. We're not on a first name basis or anything. Do you even know my name? OK, so is this just deception? I guess so.
00:11:14
Speaker
Because it has Eris has Eris gone into crime mode. Does she have her mask up? Well, we're in disguise. So I assume that maintenance where we're walking around with a with a bandana across the space is probably not. So, yeah, she she very distinctly pointed at Milo and said,

Milo's Deceit and Charm

00:11:32
Speaker
Don't I know you? Because she wouldn't recognize Eris's face. OK, wait. So she's she's actually like they are looking at Milo. I mean,
00:11:43
Speaker
Yeah, like the the last moment where we left off, she points at Milo and says, Don't I know you? Hmm. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, Philip, because I'm pretty sure every time you've encountered her, Eris has been in crime disguise mode. OK, Eris has definitely had her her her scarf over her face.
00:12:13
Speaker
Okay. With this having become structured, I just need to add is, is Posey in the initiative at this point? Yeah. She has an initiative slot that she will be able to take. Yeah. All the people who are good at a social situation are not here. I mean, if you know what Milo would do, go, I've got two or three different ideas and I'm just not sure what to do.
00:12:41
Speaker
OK, Milo, what what what does she look like? She is blonde with fairly fair skin, probably around Eris's height with a very thin build. She's she's like skinnier than where Sana is very muscular. This woman is decidedly a lot skinnier and less muscular than than Sana.
00:13:12
Speaker
So she's blonde, pale Eris.
00:13:29
Speaker
Yeah, OK. So that's going to be against her discipline, which is. One red, two purple. But for your your excellent flattery, you'll get a boost die on your check. Would you like to spend a story point to upgrade?
00:13:56
Speaker
I do believe I would. OK. So you have an upgrade. And yeah, I think that is everything. So. Milo, go ahead and roll. So are you like, sure, this could be charm?
00:14:18
Speaker
Deception. Yeah, but I feel like Milo's being exceptionally charming right now. But you you do know her like you're lying. OK, that's true. I'd let you roll charm, Randy. Hey, well, for success, you should ask for more good threats. There's your one. OK, so.
00:14:48
Speaker
Milo, go and take a point strain because, yeah, you're holding back sweat from from trickling down your brow. And she kind of stops and. Looks you up and down, Milo. Thanks first. I. You just you have one of those faces, I guess. Well.
00:15:16
Speaker
And she kind of looks to the companion on her arm. Says, what? Where's where's Chuck and Gary? They're in Normieville. What are you talking about? Well, they are off to lunch. It's their lunch break and we are covering for them. Oh, crap.
00:15:41
Speaker
OK, and the woman like rolls her eyes and says, forget it, and like pushes off of him and walks down the hallway exasperatedly and he takes off like, no, wait, I I know another it's like a broom closet, but it's it's and you hear their voices fade away. Outstanding. But maybe we should go ahead and lock the door again.
00:16:12
Speaker
OK. And put the chair under the handle. Couldn't hurt. And Milo goes, locks the door, scoots a chair over and shoves it up under the handle. OK, so that was your turn, Milo.
00:16:32
Speaker
So Posey no longer has a spot in the initiative because she was going to go there, but we will have the welcome for getting rid of Posey. We will have the warforged that attacked Cath go now. And.
00:16:53
Speaker
And just just because I don't know, I'm going to say, is this the group? Are these ones taking strain every time? Yes, yes.

Kath's Combat Skills

00:17:00
Speaker
The the last the last round, they did take two wounds. OK, so they're going to attack Kath. Kath has defense one because of her new fancy gloves. That's a setback die. I'm going to use a story point to. Upgrade their check.
00:17:24
Speaker
What's that make the pool? It's currently four one, so it'll make it three to my favor. So I'm sorry, I'm at the dice pool. Oh, sorry. That will be two yellow on their end and two purple and a black on the defensive side. Cool. Go ahead and upgrade one for my friend, Cass. OK.
00:17:53
Speaker
But only. They are rolling, sorry, the war for the bad guys, the bad guys to success, three threat, a triumph and a despair. That's three, three rolls. Yeah, three, three with a triumphant despair. OK, so they hit Kath for the eight damage. Before soak.
00:18:22
Speaker
Three threat. Oh, well, based on the amount of damage they had to take to perform that action, Kath counter blows one of them as they strike her and knocks them out. So so yeah, they're down to one at this point with a triumph.
00:18:45
Speaker
Crit? They crit? Probably crit. He was... Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sorry. Triumph is good for them, bad for us. Because I have a thought for the despair. Yeah. And it may actually not even be despair worthy. 58. Okay. F-W-To. Decapitation. 58. That's probably actually like...
00:19:14
Speaker
It'll pack a bit of a punch. Okay. 58. Ooh, agonizing wound. So one of them just like stabs their sword right into the meat of Kath's left thigh.
00:19:33
Speaker
Just straight in scrapes the bone and she lets out a cry. The she increases the difficulty of all brawn and agility checks by one until this critical injury is healed. Jeez. So, yeah, she just has a huge wound in her thigh now that, yeah, is is bleeding rather profusely. So, yeah, that's not great.
00:20:02
Speaker
And the despair. So it doesn't have to. Relate to them, it could apply to one of the other scenes if you want. But it could also apply to them. I don't think my thing worthy of a despair, what is it?
00:20:23
Speaker
the three warforged that are there next to Sigil get emboldened and join the fight, leaving Sigil to freely look over. And that way we can get him back involved in the conversation because they can do some investigations or perceptions or something, look over the transport. I think that's perfectly reasonable. Unless anybody else has anything
00:20:46
Speaker
If either of you have an idea that would make or any of you have an idea that would make your scene go more smoothly, I'm happy to entertain it or whatever. OK, there we go. OK, the the warforged they're seeing by Sigil see another one of their compatriots drop and they kind of look at Sigil and say, you're. Stay there. Don't don't move.
00:21:12
Speaker
And Sigil's just nods like, yeah, yeah, yeah. And they take off to go join the fight. So Sigil will be able to do something on their next turn. OK, so we have a PC slot. I believe it's Eris.
00:21:31
Speaker
OK, I want to do the machine.

Eris's Magical Reprogramming

00:21:35
Speaker
OK, so so are you wanting to make a check on the tools or just go for it with making the check on the machine?
00:21:46
Speaker
want to try to program the machine. I'm going to try to do the only reason Aeris is on this job. OK, so normally the difficulty for doing this complex set of arcane.
00:22:04
Speaker
Who's what's it? And and getting it to flip seamlessly from. Scrying to illusion is going to be for purple. Since Eris wasn't able to figure anything out with her check, there will be an upgrade on it, so one red, three purple. All right.
00:22:35
Speaker
Would you like to spend a story point? You you you only have one, but I promise to spend one on my next turn. Actually, first, before I do that, Eris realizing that she's going to have to just sort of do this on. On guesswork, Eris is going to augment herself. OK. So this is that is an average check. Hey, let me clear out the difficulty. OK, you're good. So.
00:23:08
Speaker
Three success. Huzzah. Okay. So, Eris is about to and then- Looking at it again.
00:23:21
Speaker
Take the moment. Get ready. And so Eris takes out her tools and she realigns some things in them. And this the glyphs on her artificing tools begin to glow. And she sort of flexes her hand and a little glowing extra arms pop out of the glove and then she's ready. Cool. OK, so.
00:23:46
Speaker
The NPCs that took off away from Sigil closed the distance with Hob and they're going to make an attack. So two yellow, one green. I'm going to spend a story point like I promised to upgrade their check. So that makes it three yellow. Sorry, did you get your story point back from your upgrade? Oh, no, the upgrade came naturally. OK. Yeah.
00:24:14
Speaker
You now have two, you had one at the start of the turn. And they're rolling against me with three yellow? Yes. And you have two purple and a black because of your defense. Right. And I was about to take some knocks. I don't, we only have two and I know there's some heroic abilities probably need to start popping off soon. So I'm going to just let it ride. Okay. Crap. One failure, two advantage.
00:24:41
Speaker
So they miss, they come up and they're swinging and Hobb manages to sidestep a flow of motion and whatnot. But they do get Hobb kind of out of position to where Hobb's going to have a setback on their next check. OK, the final NPC slot of the round is.
00:25:04
Speaker
There's kind of some talk and commotion over at the bar area because some drunk idiot just rammed into the guest of honor.

Reynard's Distraction Tactics

00:25:14
Speaker
So we're gonna see if Norsen is able to hear what's going on over there. So there's a setback because of the noise of the party, two difficulty to hear what's going on. His perception is two yellow and a green. That is one success and a triumph.
00:25:35
Speaker
Well, they got me, gal. Norson doesn't see you. He doesn't spot you. He just hears the commotion going over at the bar and like the talk trickles through the crowd. It's like some somebody just like barreled into the to prima fit. How dare they? How how gauche? And given that their colleagues, Norson starts making his way through the crowd to go to go check on
00:26:04
Speaker
his friend and see what's going on. So he doesn't get there quite yet because he is on the opposite side of the the gala area, thanks to the triumph earlier. So it is going to take him more than one turn to close the distance. That triumph, though, it, huh, somebody steps up onto this kind of raised dais near where the projection is of this machine.
00:26:32
Speaker
And it looks really inert right now. Raynard, you kind of spotted it when you walked in. It looks like an hourglass shaped Eldritch machine with some copper bands at the top and bottom in the middle.

Tension Builds Before the Revelation

00:26:44
Speaker
But nothing's going on, nothing remarkable. And it is a remarkably good scrying effect. It looks like it's sitting on a platform right up there. But
00:26:57
Speaker
somebody steps up on the dais there, a woman with a very tall hair and large tiefling horns kind of coming out and wrapping back around her, her tall, tall hair. I can't think of a better adjective for her hair other than tall. Tall. Yes. And
00:27:20
Speaker
She claps her hands and says, ladies and gentlemen, our esteemed guest, Primafit Herban, will be starting the demonstration in just a moment. So please gather around and begin taking your places for the exciting demonstration. So essentially what has happened is there is now
00:27:42
Speaker
kind of a timer before things start getting noticed. So essentially, Primo is going to be heading towards the stage, needing this arcane implement.

Confrontation with Norsen

00:27:54
Speaker
Once he starts the demonstration, if it doesn't work, then because it's an illusion and not actually scrying, that's going to raise suspicion, so on and so forth. So we basically have A round before he notices his arcane implement is missing.
00:28:11
Speaker
We have two rounds before. Well, depending on how long it takes him to get his arcane implement, you have another round after he acquires his implement to then have the to basically get out of Dodge in terms of the scrying and illusion because somebody's going to come down there and check on the machine. And yeah, at that point, you'll want to be done and dusted. So anyway. We are at the top of the round.
00:28:37
Speaker
So PC slot. So and then we have an allied NPC immediately after two of them. Yes. So. Who wants to go? Seems like maybe somebody should grab the arcane and implement. Yeah.
00:29:07
Speaker
So let's talk about what kind of check would work here, Reynard, because he's obviously you have his attention. So maybe you should distract him and let Sana go for it. Yeah, you could you could do that. You could do like a skullduggery check to like slip your foot around and like kick it over towards Sana if you wanted to try that.
00:29:28
Speaker
Um, or you could try charm and, uh, and just try to keep him, keep eyes on you and like smooth things over. Um, how would you like to play this? How would Raynard play it? Oh, gosh. Oh, I don't know what to do. I feel so much pressure right now.
00:29:51
Speaker
You should. The whole job hinges on your action. Thanks. So I think what Raynard's going to do is. Like.
00:30:13
Speaker
you know, he's bumped into him till he's upset. So you know how drunk people do. And Raynard's pretending to be drunk. Just gonna, you know, kind of grab him by the shoulders be like, man, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry. And but also with one hand kind of behind his back telling sauna like it's down. Yeah, down there. And so he's got prima fit, kind of not
00:30:41
Speaker
He's not like holding him hostage, but he's got him to where he's like, Oh, look at me. Look at me. Yeah. Like like brushing his shoulders off, making sure like his outfit isn't crinkled up. Like, Oh, let me let me fix you back up kind of thing. OK, so what kind of check are you wanting to do? So I guess I guess I'd have to be charm.
00:31:01
Speaker
It doesn't have to be. I mean, that's one of your strongest skills, but it could absolutely be deception, skullduggery, because this is kind of a grift con move to keep hands on somebody to keep them distracted. Yeah, let's do skullduggery. OK. So this is going to be against his. Perception.
00:31:29
Speaker
which is going to be low because he's strong. What? Well, yes, a setback because of our two setback because Sana got him that extra extra shot. So you're the pool you're rolling against is one red, two purple, two black. No, the setbacks would be boosts for. Right. Thank you. So one red, two purple and you have to boost die on the check.
00:32:00
Speaker
And I would like to spend a story point because this is important. OK. Are we ready? Hold on to your butts. Oh, one success, one success, one advantage and a despair. Wow. So.
00:32:26
Speaker
No, no. So, yeah, you you succeed. He is. He is fully distracted. Eyes are on you. Sauna understands what you're saying. Clear communication. So clear. In fact, she will get a boost die on her check to pick it up. Thanks to the advantage. Hmm. The despair, I mean. I get seen.
00:32:52
Speaker
You feel as as you're doing this and you see Sonic go to make a move, you feel a hand on your shoulder kind of pull you around and you see a smirking face looking like it's from here down from the cheekbones down. It's super friendly. And from the cheekbones to the eyebrows, it's just pure malice. And it's like funny running into you here.
00:33:24
Speaker
Okay, Sana's check because this is happening concurrently. So Sana is going to swoop down and attempt to pick up the implement and
00:33:37
Speaker
And I think she would just kind of. Yeah, yeah, we'll we'll play it how how it happens once she has a hold of the thing. So Primo is fully distracted, so you'll basically through your assistant, she has an upgrade thanks to your your check. She has a boost die from that.
00:34:00
Speaker
Everybody is thoroughly distracted. So that was too purple and a red was the perception. This skullduggery or stealth will do skullduggery since it's better. Yeah. Yeah. So her pool is one blue, one green, two yellow.
00:34:22
Speaker
against two purple and a red. And Primo's drunk, so that's two more blue. Here's the thing, I want you all to have heroic abilities to use. I want you to have the story points necessary to use that, which requires two. So I feel like I need to be spending story points to keep story points in your court. So yeah, I'm gonna spend a story point.
00:34:47
Speaker
Well, my gun's gone, so don't do it on behalf of me. I literally can't use my heroic ability. OK, so yeah, that gets so too red and a purple against two yellow, a green and three blue. Oh, and an upgrade. So three green. OK, yeah, yeah, this is this is fine. Hopefully.
00:35:12
Speaker
One success, two threat. Glad she had all those boost dice. They're all blank. They're entirely blank. She only got stuff on one die. Yeah, she swoops down and picks it up and puts it into her own handbag that she's been carrying around, tucked under her arm all night. And she goes to
00:35:37
Speaker
I think narratively, this makes sense to be what the threat are spent on because it's too threat. She just assumes that, like, based on when she swooped down, that as soon as she comes up, turns around and starts walking towards the door, Raynard's going to fall right in line with her.

Sauna's Escape with the Artifact

00:35:53
Speaker
And as soon as she gets like three steps away, she stops and turns around and sees you like hung up with somebody. And so she like spends a moment like looking at the door and looking back at Raynard and she
00:36:07
Speaker
rolls her eyes and turns on her heel and heads back towards Reynard. No, always leave me, always. Agreed. Next NPC slot, so allied NPC. So we have Sigil or Cath to go. Do you all have a preference on? Jeff's scene, Jeff can decide. Yeah, let me look. Is Kipling not still an allied PC?
00:36:34
Speaker
Can you come and throw up on somebody? OK, so it's an allied NPC and then the bad guys. You tell me if they are far enough away that Sigil can safely start snooping. The ones they're running, running up to the. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, they full on attack you. So, yeah, they're they're plenty far away and distracted. Oh, yes, of course.
00:37:06
Speaker
Yes, I think that I want for, I think that I want for Sigil to do something to help the getaway so that if we're lucky when that next little PC allied NPC, PC combo, we can drop everybody and run. Okay. I don't think we can, but we can try.
00:37:26
Speaker
So yeah, Sigil is going to attempt to... I mean, basically, as far as Sigil knows, and as far as what was communicated to them in terms of the job, Ural's goal was to get the thing and go away. There's only one large, secure container down here hooked up to a boat, and so Sigil's gonna go into hotwire mode and hop into the boat and see if they can get it going, essentially. Yeah.
00:37:54
Speaker
if that works. That's exactly what we need. That's exactly what we need Sigils to do right now, is to get the job done. Worst case scenario, Sigils steals the thing you guys run away. Yeah. Yeah, that's fine. If they want to take off with it, we can get it gone elsewhere some other way. Sure. Sigils check is going to be for...
00:38:20
Speaker
Arcana is what they're gonna use to attempt to navigate this. So two yellow and a green. The difficulty is going to be hard, so three purple. I'm going to use a story point to upgrade. The difficulty? Yes. Okay. So that makes it one red, two purple against two yellow and a green, so.
00:38:47
Speaker
One failure. So Sigil is in there looking around and they can't. Figure out where. The thing is to start it. So so yeah, no dice there.
00:39:07
Speaker
And now it is a regular old NPC slot. We're going to let Raynard stew for a bit and do some warforged attacking. So. So yeah, we'll do the the full group that just ran up to attack Hobb. They'll go again. So. Yeah, it is. Two yellow and a green against two purple.
00:39:38
Speaker
Uh, yeah. OK. One success. So that's going to be eight. No, seven damage. Oh, sorry. Crap. Forgot to roll the one setback for your defense. Right. One success, one threat. So. Yeah. So. Seven damage.
00:40:02
Speaker
And for the threat, they kind of get in the way of the other group that's attacking you, Haben. That group will have a setback die. OK. Wait, no, that would be punishing me for it. Yeah, they will. Yeah, you got it. OK, there's a lot of things I know.
00:40:21
Speaker
Okay, so we have another PC slot, so Hob, Eris, or Milo. I think Hob should go because I don't want Hob to get punched a whole bunch of times before he has a chance to... Well, here's the thing, it's going... The next three are PC, Allied NPC, PC. I'd like for Cath to go before me, so if she takes one out, I can heroic ability and be done. Then I'll do my thing then. Okay, so that's hard with one upgrade.
00:40:48
Speaker
Yes, and Eris has also an increase on her ability. So whatever you need to do to add an extra green onto my pool. Would Milo's heroic ability be something that could help out in this situation? What would that do? I've forgotten.
00:41:07
Speaker
Basically, what it could do in this scenario is because his is he has a supernatural ability to know things. And so it would it could remove that upgrade. If Milo were to go before you and remove the ability for a despair, unless I spend a story point. That's fine. If you think that's that's better, that's fine. What do you. The. Well, yes, but.
00:41:37
Speaker
I don't understand but that's yes yes we are trying yes but oh well so that's
00:41:53
Speaker
how that works, huh? Well, what do you know? I would have never guessed. Yes, I will. I will tell Eris. Yes. So Eris is like leaned down over, getting ready to go. And then here's Myla go, what, dear? And Eris's back just kind of comes back up and her head just slowly swivels around.
00:42:22
Speaker
How in the world would you know anything about this at all? So, yeah, the the information that comes into your head, Milo, is that this this particular style of magic is based off of Zendric magic, like ancient ancient magic from Zendric. And that if you were to attempt to
00:42:50
Speaker
treat it just like any other enchantment that we know the the possibilities could be catastrophic and notably. The ancient giants of Zendrick, where most people slip up when they try to manipulate this kind of magic, ancient giants wrote right to left and not left to right. So the runes are actually backwards of how they need to be manipulated. Nice. So. So the.
00:43:19
Speaker
The runes are like from like Zendric, you know, a long time ago and, and they're, they're, yes, dear, they're, they're backwards. The runes are backwards. You, you got to, yes, I'm, yes, dear. Right to left. So start on the right side and go for the left. Just, just trust me.

Milo and Eris Manipulate Ancient Runes

00:43:41
Speaker
Just trust me and you can do this.
00:43:50
Speaker
Who are you talking to? Well, I'm talking to Kylie. Sometimes I hear her voice in my head. That was your wife's name, right?
00:44:11
Speaker
Yes, that's my wife, but let's just go ahead and finish up here. Let's get this done and get out of here. Perhaps we can talk about this later.
00:44:28
Speaker
Just just to just to make sure the timeline is short up between because Eris asked is that was that your wife's name? Kylie's death happened about six months before the start of the campaign. Does that line up with Eris not having known Kylie or just not known her that well? In your mind, I just want to make sure.
00:44:50
Speaker
Well, I figure if Milo wasn't a member of our crew before Kylie's death because he was just a bookkeeper for Boromar. Yeah, I assumed that none of our joint adventures could have taken place before. OK, that fair. Yeah. OK, so cut to Kath.
00:45:20
Speaker
down in the docking yard, and she is going to attempt to do a punch on the one last one that she has. So, Hob, you have two in one group and three in another group still on you. So you still have two groups on you. She's finishing up the one that was on her.
00:45:47
Speaker
I exploded somebody and somehow I'm not doing as well in this fight as Kat is.
00:45:55
Speaker
Well, you exploded somebody in that group and then left. And so this is part of your handiwork that she's she's going to aim. OK, so that's one success for Kath. So, yeah, the last one, she kind of steps in. It tries to bring it. They try to bring their sword up to block and she continues their momentum and just brings her elbow back like right in between the armor plating, exposing their armpit and just knocks the air out of them and then slams them down on the ground.
00:46:24
Speaker
and her group is dealt with. OK. Hub or PC slot, whichever PC would like to go, go. Yeah. OK, so I got two story points, right? You do exactly to flip them, nerds. I'm doing enacting my heroic ability on the group of three that came to the party late. OK. Describe your unleash. I think.
00:46:53
Speaker
I think this time, no, they tried to attack me and they missed. Can we say, they kind of tried to encircle me? Yeah. Okay, here's what I wanna do. And you can tell me if it's stupid. I think that what happens now, Hob sees what Sigil's doing and says, all right, time to end things. And in this particular case, he just grabs his quarter staff and helicopters that bad boy.
00:47:24
Speaker
Hitting all three of them, and then, you know, they're not all immediately down, so he does what he needs to do just to keep him on the ground, but the initial salvo is just a fast as you please, quarterstaff, helicopter, knocking heads in. Nice, totally. It's because in my head, we're in like a parking garage in a very open area, so there's not, like I love slamming people into walls with this and things like that, but in this case, I think, of course.
00:47:53
Speaker
Now, go ahead. No, if I may, now I would like to use my maneuver to pass the the other two guys that are still standing to get between them and sigil and then they can spin around and see what's really happening and they all got tricked and all that.
00:48:13
Speaker
Well, because we've never really used this ability in proper initiative order action. OK. You took the improved like you with your first heroic upgrade, you you improved it, right? I did, yes. So that's just an incidental to do that. You still have your action and maneuver. That's right. That's right. Boom. OK, so one of the two that's left, then I'm going to
00:48:42
Speaker
I've got strain to burn, so I'm gonna aim and punch. I'm just gonna drop the weapon on the ground, because I'll be around to pick it up in a minute. Even if I gotta scoop it up as we fly past on the boat. I drop it and I am going to, like I said, I'm gonna aim and attack. Let's go ahead and attack the very, because the first guy's still standing, right? The one that was tapping his blade on his hand?
00:49:09
Speaker
or is that who Kath just put down? That's who Kath just knocked down. Okay, the one that got hit by his own friend's club. That's the one. Yes. That I'm attacking. That's right. Okay, I'm going to spend a story point to upgrade just because I had all of the story points. Yeah, totally. Yeah, I hated doing that, but I needed to. Oh, yeah, totally. It was awesome. Yeah, I don't regret it. I didn't like it. Here we go. So you have a boost for aiming and it's one red, one purple. And I'm using my sestas. And here comes a despair.
00:49:40
Speaker
What is wrong with you? Whoa. Oh, not a despair. Whoa. OK. That's a fail to failure and six advantage. OK. So a lot of things. I have a really funny idea for the six advantage that I know is going to be a no. With this timing. OK.

Hob's Heroic Feat

00:50:02
Speaker
Six advantage.
00:50:04
Speaker
Can the Sestis misfire? Cause they're still new and we're still working on it. So even though I didn't land the punch, I do some damage. I mean, it doesn't damage, but with things like knockback and blast, you can actually activate them without connecting, without damaging. Okay. Cause I know I would need to connect to use any of those as a crit. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Knockback is an option then. Yeah. You could, you could go ahead and activate that and knock.
00:50:33
Speaker
knocked them out of the way to where Kath has a clear shot to at least take off while you guys could just go for the boat. Yeah, I think that's I think that's great. I think I'm going to use the knockback ability. So that's three of the advantage to the advantage, pardon me, to clear the path for sigil if they get it moving and and just hoping that Kath and I can jump in if we need to.
00:51:00
Speaker
And of course, well, oh, go ahead. I was going to say, we're still going to be there ready because they're not down yet. Instead, we'll doesn't have it moving. Well, an important thing, once again, that your your heroic ability thus far has been used to just end things. Your heroic ability lasts until the end of your next turn. And on each turn, while it's active, you get to spend an incidental to defeat a whole minion group. So if you stay within range of these guys on your next turn, you can just.
00:51:28
Speaker
Knock them out. I never realized that. I think I want to knock back. But now I have a triumph level amount of advantage to do something with. I mean, I I would be happy to say like you knock them back to clear a path for Kath so she can get through and then they're on the ground and your final thing is just going to be slowly sauntering up and just knocking them out while they're on their butts. OK, OK, I like that. Yes.
00:51:55
Speaker
So three of the advantage go to knock back, to clear a path. Dang it, I did it again. Two of the advantage go to knock back, clearing a path. Cath gets to the vehicle, ready to rock and roll. And I'm standing there waiting to finish my dirty deeds with these two at the start of my next turn.
00:52:16
Speaker
So I will take one strain to pick up and reholster my staff because I don't actually want to end up accidentally leaving it here if we have to beat feet. Yeah. Okay. And with the remaining advantage, just to create kind of a holistic image, if you're fine with it, saying that Cath has been on so many jobs with Sigil where they've had to
00:52:41
Speaker
acquire a vehicle quickly under dubious circumstances to where Kath being there can provide an upgrade for Sigils check to try and get things going on their turn. We love this. Cool. OK, we have a antagonistic NPC turn, but one of them is taken out. Two of them are taken out, actually, so that's now resolved. So the one group that's still up has yet to attack.
00:53:10
Speaker
Um. So. Is that right? No, no, no, no, no, it's the it's Norsin. So cut back to. And Raynard, this gentleman has extended his hand out for a handshake while having the other hand on your shoulder. And are you are you taking his hand?
00:53:41
Speaker
I'm scared to now. But I think I'm just going to pretend like nothing's wrong, so yes. OK, he he does that that overly aggressive handshake, like white knuckle squeeze. And you hear Primo over his shoulder say, oh, I I.
00:54:08
Speaker
I apologize, I'm sure you're about to introduce me, but I have to go start the demonstration. So Primo kind of stutter steps past you all and you see Primo's hand begin like reaching towards his pouch. And, yeah, Norsen says. OK, here's what needs to happen. He's going to make a. Coercion check.
00:54:40
Speaker
So what is your discipline, Reynard? It's one green. OK, so his difficulty will be one purple for this. And. I'll use a story point to upgrade his check. So that'll be three yellow.
00:55:06
Speaker
And basically he's going to, with the handshake squeezing tight, pull you in and say, let's go have a conversation. And kind of has his hand is on your shoulder, but slipping towards the like that almost back of your neck kind of thing. And you feel the grip of his hand, Raynard, and you're you're worried something is about to pop or break. But
00:55:36
Speaker
You can also tell like his hand isn't shaking like he's not applying full force at this point. So he's. Yeah. So, yeah, he has an upgrade. Would you all like to spend a story point to upgrade his difficulty to a red? I don't think it's. What's the what's the pool? Three green against one purple or three yellow against one purple. Oh, gosh.
00:56:08
Speaker
Is it so undisciplined? I mean, well, I mean, he could get a he could get a despair. Yeah. OK, then, yeah, we don't have to. Let's use one. OK. So three success, one threat. So. He'll take a point of strain because he's about to blow a blood vessel. But Raynard, in this moment, you just you feel any sense of resistance that you would have.
00:56:38
Speaker
to this man, like, physically guiding you, washes away under a sense of self-preservation and, like, he might snap my neck if I don't go with him right now. Kind of thing? Wait, is the threat for him or the threat for me? The threat's for him, but he succeeded on the check against your discipline. Okay. So his coercion of, hey, come with me succeeded. He has coerced you. Yes. Can a threat be I get really nauseous and I'm about to throw up on him?
00:57:11
Speaker
Um, sure. Like I, I will say that he, he believes that you are drunk based on the way you were acting towards Primo. So the fact that you're staggering and taking longer than he would like, he's not going to like shake you until you did knock, knock off the act kind of thing. So, um, and you also see Primo headed towards the stage, uh, fiddling with his bag. We have the final PC slot. I believe it must be me.
00:57:43
Speaker
OK, so Eris compartmentalizes the milo toxic ghosts information and bends back to the task at hand. OK, so she has an extra green. For purple. Got the extra green in there. We've removed the upgrade thanks to Kylie's assistance.
00:58:13
Speaker
I feel like it would be in bad form to use a story point to reimpose the upgrade. So I'm not I'm not going to do that. So I think we are good. Am I artifice or mechanic scene? It's the same thing I just want to know. This would be artifice. Yeah. OK.
00:58:38
Speaker
One success, one threat. Yeah, take the point of strain. You're freaking out. Yeah, never so much.
00:58:47
Speaker
So, yeah, Eris, upon Kylie's guidance, you stop and move to the other end and begin fiddling. And once you start working backwards, things start to kind of click in place like, huh, weird. OK. And maybe Eris can come over and help Milo find the manifest. I mean, you still have a maneuver. Would you like to start beating or go go help?

Eris and Milo's Quick Exit

00:59:15
Speaker
Eris sees that it has worked, and she sort of stands up, stows the other guy's tools, and says, Roy, Roy, so shall we cheese it? Well, we still need the manifest. Perhaps you could help me locate it.
00:59:41
Speaker
Right, there's another part of the job. Yeah, we should find the manifest and take care of that. Right. OK, top of the next round. So at this point, just narrating what's happening. Primo prima fit has gotten onto the stage.
00:59:59
Speaker
and fully put his hand into his pouch and starts for a second and like there starts looking around and yeah, he doesn't get to make a check at this point to try and figure out what's going on, but this next wrinkle of the timer has happened to where alarms have been raised. So PC slot, who would like to go?
01:00:25
Speaker
I mean, we want to try to go ahead and find the manifest. Do we want to deal with the last warforged guards? Rainard. As long as my heroic ability is still going, I don't care when I go, because all that's going to happen is I'm going to drop these two and we're going to peel out provided Sigil gets the thing. So right. You guys have things to do. Do it. You know, it's fine. OK. Milo, go ahead and. Trying to think of what.
01:00:51
Speaker
what bookkeeping slash clerical work skill would be appropriate here. I mean, do we have the thing or we have to find the thing? Like, is it really obvious that it's there? No, there's a lot of papers because this is a loading dock. So there's lots of stuff coming going. So you want to find the right one and then doctor it. But we can do this as one holistic check. So we could do it as Skulduggery, Milo, if you have that.
01:01:18
Speaker
Is there a Nollet? I do not know. Skullduggery seems reasonable for Forgery. Well, Milo's no good in Skullduggery. What does Eris have in that skill? Is she better, I'm sure? I have three green and a yellow in Skullduggery. Could Milo just use Perception to find it and then take it?
01:01:44
Speaker
Yeah, I mean you could just try to find it and then steal it like a missing manifest also does not have the requisite information that they need.
01:01:56
Speaker
OK, so if you want to go and make a perception check to try and just find it, you can do that. And then if Eris on Eris's turn wants to try to do something to doctor it, we can do that also if you want, but or we can just cheese it. So, OK, that's going to be too purple difficulty. I'm going to spend a story point to upgrade. To one red one point pool. Are you ready for me to roll? Yep. All right, here it goes.
01:02:26
Speaker
Two advantage. So there's too many papers. You can't find it. But you're clearing the desk off, you're clearing stuff away. So with two advantage, you could pass a boost to Eris when Eris comes over to try to find it. You could do something else narrative if you want. Milo just is shuffling papers around. Maybe he's uncovered something, so he'll pass a boost to Eris. OK, so you've given a boost die to Eris specifically.
01:02:57
Speaker
OK, Allied NPC slot. So we are going to have. Sigil go ahead and make their check to get the car up and running. Come on, that's one red to. I know three purple. I spent a story point last time to upgrade it.
01:03:20
Speaker
Okay, three purple against two yellow and one green, but he gets an upgrade from Cath being there from Hobbs roll. So that makes it three yellow against three purple. Sounds fair. I mean, it doesn't sound fair. It sounds really balanced in our favor, which feels fair.
01:03:39
Speaker
I mean, it's pretty even because number of dice indicates more of a likelihood to fail or succeed. So if you all spent a story point, that would actually bump you up quite a bit by adding a fourth die to the to the experience. But if you all don't want to do that, then that's fine, too. Oh, my God. One threat.
01:04:02
Speaker
So Sigil is starting to get really frustrated and just, I know how to do this. I know how to do this. I know how to do this and. The threat. Let's just pass a setback to the next in peace or the next allied check sauna.
01:04:28
Speaker
is going to seeing Reynard being led away by a stranger that she does not know, does not find that to be okay at all. So thanks to those threat last time, she is going to throw caution and reason to the wind and go protect her friend. And yeah, she...
01:04:50
Speaker
Norsen and Reynard are still making their way through the crowd. You haven't reached like a back door or anything. And so she is going to try and hmm. Don't try anything stupid, Sana. I think I have a plan. It's not a good one, but it's a plan.
01:05:17
Speaker
OK, so she is going to walk up to Reynard and Norsen. Very quickly, just kind of power walking. And spotting the the back door that Norsen was presumably about to take Reynard out of, but still in the crowd and. OK, so she circles around to to kind of cut you all off as you're walking.
01:05:44
Speaker
And she is going to make a skullduggery check to try and lift something off of Norsin to use as leverage for this situation to provide a distraction. So skullduggery against Norsin's perception. And I'm going to... No, I won't use the story point. Okay.
01:06:12
Speaker
Here we go, two yellow and a green against two purple and a red. Would you all like to use the story point to upgrade Sana's check? It doesn't seem like a terrible idea. Yeah, let's do it. Okay. Two failure, two advantage. So she...
01:06:38
Speaker
She walks up and she tries to slip her hand into an interior pocket somewhere to pull out something that would be identifying that she could be like, oh, did you drop this? But she bumps in, doesn't feel anything. Those pockets are empty.
01:06:55
Speaker
And so she just kind of full on, Raynard, you see her out of nowhere, come around and full on run into Raynard or run into to Norsen and be like, oh, I'm I'm so sorry. And try to like be on him acting like she's a little drunk, trying to do what she did with prima fit. And Norsen's not having it, but he is also distracted
01:07:22
Speaker
to where and kind of flustered to where you will get a boost die on whatever check you make in the situation. OK, with her two advantage. OK, we have an NPC turn, so. I'm I want to give Raynard an opportunity to interact with this scene, so we're going to go ahead and do the two last warforged that Hobb is fighting.
01:07:50
Speaker
They are going to hop up and come up and try to attack. And I'm going to use a story point to upgrade their check because I have almost all of them. OK. That's an advantage they miss. And they don't have anything to use. They'll pass a boost die to the next warforged combat check if there is one which there's not going to be, but that's fine.
01:08:19
Speaker
OK, so next up, we have a PC slot. Then we have PC, then allied NPC, then PC again. So we have some time before Norcen's turn. This is the the top of the round again, though, or no, it's not the top of the round. So who went first, Milo? Milo did. I'm happy to keep waiting.
01:08:42
Speaker
OK, so Raynard, Eris or Hobb, like I can go. I know what I'm doing, but stuff you guys won't get resolved because it's way more stressful than what Hobb dealing with down here. You know. OK, yeah, what was your plan? Did it's not a mess up? Not. Yes, you did. Does your heroic ability get you out of this anyway? Mine's just extra charm.
01:09:08
Speaker
I mean, you could try to I don't it would be incredibly difficult, but your heroic ability would play into it because you could remove one of the purple. So and you get to pick which purple you remove. My plan was. If Sona was far enough away from me, I was going to. Give her the eye and just yell at Prima Fit, I have what you're looking for.
01:09:35
Speaker
to cause a distraction to maybe even get whatever his name is off of me. But I mean, you could still do that. That would cause a commotion like. Well, where are we at in the room? Are we close to like, are we close to the door? You're you're probably about a full turns worth of movement from the back door. There's still people around you. So if you were to yell that,
01:10:04
Speaker
then a commotion would cause and you could give Sana the eye for her to to beat feet if you wanted.

Final Chaos and Reynard's Signal

01:10:11
Speaker
OK, then let's just stick with that plan, then. OK, I feel like it's going to get me arrested, but what else is new? Yeah. Good. So, OK, at least I won't have to deal with the guy who's about to kill me, so.
01:10:29
Speaker
OK, so this is going to be a skullduggery check because you just yelling that would get the desired result. What the check is for is communicating to sauna for her to go without anybody noticing. Yeah. Is is the check. So because there's a lot of commotion, a lot of stuff going on, as soon as you yell this, there will be two boosts die to your check. And.
01:11:00
Speaker
The check you're going up against is too purple. So. But I'm going to spend a story point to upgrade one of them. Oh, I'm going to spend a story because that's just on brand for me. OK. Give me and I'm doing so. Yes. Skullduggery. So. You look up and yell. I have what you're looking for.
01:11:31
Speaker
Oh, I did it. Three success and an advantage. So as Norsen kind of looks at you wide eyed and the crowd like. Erupts as prima fit points at you and goes thief. Detain him, Sonic catches your eye as you give her the. Go as she. Just gives you the the biggest. I'm sorry.
01:12:01
Speaker
Look as she takes two steps back and then turns to exit through the crowd. It's my brand to do what I need to do to get the job done. OK, so we have an allied NPC turn, so this is Kath.
01:12:20
Speaker
Kat's going to try what she can with mechanics, which she's not good at. She's got two green, but somebody's got to get this truck going. Yeah. This boat. So Kat considers the payload to see if she and Hob just strapped to it.
01:12:43
Speaker
So it's too green against three purple is the difficulty. I'll give a boost since Sigil is there helping. Would you all like to spend a story point to give her an upgrade? If not, that's fine. Just offering it. What are we looking at? Because I would rather have a story point for Sigil to flip when they try to get the thing moving. You currently have two story points to my three.
01:13:10
Speaker
Alright man, I think we need to hang out at some fort to get Reinhardt out of this. I agree, I agree, I agree, I agree. Yeah, so no. Two failure and a threat.
01:13:21
Speaker
Um, so it's like doors. The last one should be just to peel out, but what blows is I'm down here doing my job finally and no one can see. I mean, Sigil and Cass, but can I've been doing this forever? He knows that I'm actually good at this. Um. Given that Cass.
01:13:47
Speaker
Fear is humiliation, and she feels pretty humiliated not being able to do this thing right now. That threat is going to manifest in a setback on the next check because she tries and just rears back and punches the panel and the wood splinters a little bit. But, Kath, we need that.
01:14:07

PC slot, Eris. All right. So we're trying to do the trying to get the manifest. OK, so my school degree is actually better than my perception. So if I can try to find the thing and sufficiently alter it, that would be my preference. Yes. It was too purple and I spent a story point to upgrade it, which I'm going to do again. OK.

And I believe Milo provided me with a boost and I am augmented, so I give me my extra green. OK, you're good. All right. Two success, two advantage. So Milo clearing stuff off. Eris walks over and reaches around and opens the drawer, pulls out the manifest.

I was going to say it's hanging on a clipboard on the window. But yeah, in the drawer is fine. No, I like that. Harris walks over to the clipboard on the window where she can look down and see how what a good job Hobb is doing. And you also see Kath punching the truck. And Harris makes the necessary notations to alter the manifest so that it appears that none of this was ever here.

or whomever that will confuse. Yeah. OK, so yeah, when it arrives or when it doesn't arrive at its destination, the shipping manifest will not indicate that it should ever arrive. So. And then Eris looks at Milo and says, I really think we should think we should be gone now. So let's skip back to Tasha. I'm sure everyone else is having as good a time as we are.

Okay, so, Norsen's turn. So, Norsen pulls you in close, Reynard, as this crowd is hubbub, making a lot of noise, and you see some security coming over to deal with you, and Norsen pulls you in close and whispers in your ear,

You lucked out this time. Next time. I'll have your head. And he had to do a check to intimidate me. I feel I'm pretty good that my plan was successful right now. No, he's just he's acknowledging that you did get away, but he's holding on to your forearm and kind of detained you until security gets there. I want him to fail to check. So come on, come on, come on. Give him a check to intimidate. OK, OK. I'll give him a check.

You're going to be really upset when he succeeds. Yeah, you're you're your difficulty is one purple for him, so I don't know. I'll use the story point to upgrade this check. Oh, three advantage. He doesn't succeed, though. So I'm taller than he is. So I just kiss him on the forehead and say goodbye, love.

As the guards grab me. Oh, man. Oh, he wants to punch you so much, but he can't because he's a man of science.
