Garrett: hello everybody and welcome back to another episode of into the malediction This is episode 17. ah And I am one of your co -hosts, Garrett, also known as Admiral Tater, joined by...

Garrett: Alan, and Nick.

m3rcier: Hey, this is Alan. Mercer on Discord.

Nick: Hey everybody, this is Nick, and I'm Fetty315 in the discords.

Garrett: Wonderful. Wonderful. Thank you. ah Listen, today's episode, we've got some primal blood lore. um Two new articles. Uh, this is releasing on august 25th so you know what that means august 26 tomorrow is the release of the new reinforcements.

Garrett: uh this is gonna be awesome new models A new deck building. It's going to be incredible. Everything should be ready to go to start building decks and I believe playing on TTS immediately if you can't get to your store.

m3rcier: You better.

Garrett: Yeah, new meta. Uh, other news, other news. Uh, Admiral Tater officially licensed malediction. So I still got. our first wave and I'm When we're filming this, they're not out yet, but possibly by August 20.

Garrett: 5th or 26th, I'll have the next wave. a Seeker. specific flex ruler sets. so like ingor gets a special one thunder steps gets a special one and they're all different colors and match So I'm really excited about those.

Garrett: ah So check those out at Appletator .com. anyways back to what we're talking about So the two lore articles we got. are Kiths. Of the primal blood.

Garrett: And... The jury. the voice of thunder But we're going to start with Kiss of the Primal Blood. And I will go ahead and lead us off by... our usual quote that we do.

Garrett: But before I do that, do you guys have any other news you want to say?

m3rcier: No, I was just going to say, you know. when you get a chance because i know you're busy an Into the Malediction -like Echometry Tracker would be pretty cool.

Garrett: Uh, yes. In fact, you guys in Critical Graze. I'm trying to get... Maybe some merch. approved. approved uh for like a way to do that to support your favorite like content creators.

Garrett: ah But anyways. Back to back to this Alright. Quote time. My kin. know that there will be no respite for us for this world. We are witnesses to the crimes against our mother. and Evacra.

Garrett: but our hands will not falter. in the face of calamity. We will stand tall and endure. They will try to break us, but our bodies are as stone. They will try to shackle us. but their chains can't bind our spirit.

Garrett: Let the Takras be your guide. Stand together and survive. attributed to Akna, the warrior prophet. Of course, Akna is the one who... liberated the the Orokin from their enslavement.

Garrett: Yeah. to the everlasting, the triumvirate in Osiris. ah All right, well. uh let's so all right this episode's about the kith the kith structures Um...

Garrett: And how we got the kits. and why we're here right now. Uh.

m3rcier: yeah and And this one is by Author. Also. Author Montezuma.

Nick: author montu Yep.

Garrett: Yes, thank you. I didn't write that in the script. How dare I? um Listen, okay, so basically, you know. Back during the Everlasting. me ah war.

Garrett: the Ah. Okna is our big, you know, freedom fighter. He's the Braveheart. of the Oregon. and The Moses of the Oregon, right?

Garrett: and leads him out. And they go over to you know, uh proxos And... uh barry Ivaka's heart in the Giants after they slay it. and you know the tree comes out and We've already covered all that.

Garrett: So anyways... ah At this time. they're yeah Everyone's united under Okna. Right. big Big daddy. Warrior Prophet. And... the after his death, because he's not immortal. Right.

Garrett: The kiss. then split up. uh because now everyone immediately ah you know, wants to interpret. The Takara. Uh...

Garrett: differently. So. it's it's just It's just like, you know, religion in our world, right? Um, Let's talk about kit structure. Nick, I'm going to throw. you and its kith structure. what ah How are these things organized?

Nick: Well, um Okay. It's hard to define. ah the kit The kits are basically independent war bands. where they all have a similar and...

Nick: Honestly, comparing it to like... the idea of like, um various like Christian denominations is a really good. um analogy they They all have a very similar foundational vision.

Nick: but each kith has their own core philosophy. And so... They might all agree with like, you know. the primal blood as a whole. we'll see like oh we need to to free Ymir is from the thorn. We need to.

Nick: you know return the all mother we need to face the judgment That we have. reckoned. ah But every kith has like, well, but we don't do that. And we don't do that. Or no, we do this instead. We do that.

Nick: So there's so many like. Yeah. At the end of the day, we don't know truly how many Kiths... exist? Uh, because It's technically possible, I think. I don't think it's been disproven in this article that...

Nick: A kith can be as small as just like a handful of people.

Garrett: Yeah, there's no ah there's no council like in ah

Nick: And.

Garrett: Over in the legion of the fallen that approves your house.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: You could just be like yo We've got a berserker, we've got a shaman, we're a kid.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: Let's go.

Nick: Exactly. So it's just like a handful of people can be like, no, we're our own kids. We have our own philosophy, our own. path here. And this is, like, we agree that, like, we need to free Ymiris and...

Nick: undo Like, you know, we rebel against. the Order. In the Triumvirate, we ah rebel against the Legion. End of. Tan Ravalum. ah And we reject like the conclaves.

Nick: you know philosophies. And at the when you do all of that, you're left with... We. are a kith in our own sense We have our own path You know, two kids can be so similar and then just have simply.

Nick: one minor difference that makes them completely unable to actually integrate into one. like big family.

Garrett: which Which we're going to talk about.

Nick: And.

Garrett: That's that's a thing.

Nick: Yeah, exactly.

Garrett: Uh...

m3rcier: they do They do have a bigger family.

Nick: So.

Garrett: Yeah.

m3rcier: but it does say that most kiss are uh

Garrett: Um,

m3rcier: hundreds of individuals. So, you know. couple dozen families.

Nick: Yeah.

m3rcier: But even then, we we know the blood is the most numerous.

Nick: Yeah, exactly

m3rcier: If I remember right, they're the most numerous. so whatever their population count is, divided by 100. 150, and that's how many kits you get. So there are... hundreds if not thousands of KISS depending on the overall population so it's not like it's uh

Nick: Exactly, yeah.

m3rcier: I mean, I would say it is the um the the Abrahamic religions but on steroids with how fragmented. has become.

Garrett: Yeah, well, from what Tiago told us, when we... blessed with his presence. ah

Nick: yes

Garrett: There is way more. of these Oregon, like you said, so. potentially there's thousands of kits. um like Because, they you know, it can just be a family of Oregon.

Garrett: And... ive I wrote a little note here. um They must procreate really fast if there's that many of them. um because you know they're constantly dying due to infighting and like the natural violence of their culture.

Nick: Oh.

Garrett: Um...

Nick: fruit. For sure. Yeah. i i i know I know we talked about the...

Garrett: So.

Nick: deal had ah O 'Erikan as like. Being orc. you know, orcish. Um,

Garrett: Right.

Nick: And so i I don't know how directly it translates. It can be its own thing, of course. ah But in a lot of fantasy writing works tend to have like very young adolescents, very young, like they have a very young lifespan.

Nick: Thanks.

Garrett: Right.

Nick: procreate quickly they age quickly they fight they die and that's it And if we follow that. logic with the American, it's like, oh, no, like they're they're pumping them out.

Nick: they're They're everywhere. There's a ton of them. And they're there to fight in the battle. And. And we're going to cover this, of course, in this article. but You know, you consider with how many have to die in the service of just proving who's stronger.

Nick: You have to have such a large population of people. to sacrifice like that.

Garrett: Yeah, because you're just churning through bodies. I mean, I guess it culls the weak. genetically however they however they uh however they breed because like we don't know if they're like you know normal.

Garrett: Uh... you know, make it babies or if it's a. a more fantasy stake where they... are born for the ground or something but Um... The other thing is the twin Takras, the core philosophy. of primal blood from Okna.

Garrett: a he specifically is like, you know, We don't infight. it's a it's a sacrilege against what we're doing because they're supposed to be like on their core Their core goal of...

Garrett: of avenging Avakar and Yamiri. And... uh all the key ah like half the kids uh systems are all based around you know fighting each other for who's in charge.

Garrett: fighting inside the kid fighting other kids. And then. When we get to it, the hosts that the kids join fighting other hosts. Uh, so I mean, that's just got to be a real I don't know how they justify all that as ah as a culture.

Nick: Yeah, there's there's a real interesting ah dynamic. with the primal blood because So like. you know If we look at the four factions, obviously the free cities are kind of exempt from all of this.

Nick: But the four factions, so the Order has the Triumph of Rent. as their Like. head of of philosophy, head of of culture.

Nick: You know, they they lean to the fla the philosophies of the Triumvirate. So you have Oster. uh expiatra and Valkaris, who Give them. the sense of order. They built their entire philosophy around their entire culture.

Nick: The Conclave has Moloch. They have this idea of like the Astrum is. like they don't know what exactly it is and that innately drives this curiosity and this like innovation to like Discover to learn.

Nick: to control, to know. um And then you have the Legion, of course, with the Baton Revolum. with... We're all here. We're all stuck on this earth together. Let's...

Nick: try to undo the curse of death and go back to immortality that we all enjoyed. And if not... then let's continue to... work within that confine. The Primal Blood Have such an interesting. disconnect because we know that when they were enslaved by the A Star is Paradox. A Starian Paradox.

Nick: that they lost their history. You know, like you don't if you're a slave and you're being told one thing like you grow up, you don't you're not told your history. You're not told your culture.

Nick: And so there's this entire disconnect where like. ah When Akhnav frees them and they return to Paxos. ah they They don't know. what they lost.

Nick: And so.

Garrett: Yeah, he's like He's as far back as they go. Like, he's there. beginning.

m3rcier: Well, there's there's that plus overtime. So since then. the corruption. uh that is in the bloodlines like the corrupted echo has changed a lot of them so they're not the same primal they were when hockton was around

Nick: Oh for sure.

m3rcier: Not in the physical sense, not in the... Uh... Hmm. Is it the spiritual sense or any of that?

Nick: Yeah.

m3rcier: Uh -oh.

Garrett: Well, yeah, because they probably weren't, you know.

m3rcier: So it's Yes, sir.

Garrett: fleshcrafting. when Octum is around.

m3rcier: Thank you.

Nick: No, and but like we don't, you know, Okna and his teachings are like the start of the Primal Blood. So like our history only goes back. of several hundred years instead of instead of these other factions that have millennia.

Nick: of of history. And so I'd fully. believe that like the problem blood are just they're just a young faction in that sense.

Garrett: Yes. Yeah, the oldest people but the youngest. culture.

Garrett: Because they're the first children. like first first journal almost

m3rcier: Yeah, I mean they Seems like... Their main goal right now is just to reproduce and fight. so

Garrett: Yeah, but let's talk about how uh they're gonna escape this uh tornado of self -destruction um The host. The host, the great host.

Garrett: uh so So in multiple kits, band together and this is You see this in history. Hello. across a lot of fantasy but So all these different tribes come together.

Garrett: and form a what they call a host and in the lore here. And then it's led by the most powerful Kith in that group. And then that's generally how they name the host. All right, so let's talk about the main hosts.

Garrett: And so these are kind of like the main houses or the main spheres. of the primals. So the first one is the The one led by Thundersteps himself. And that's the...

Garrett: We were talking about how to say this. I keep wanting to put a D on it, but we're calling it Jurai. Um... Jury I. What do you guys want to say?

m3rcier: Jirai.

Garrett: Jirai? Okay, we're gonna call it Jirai, alright? ah So Thunder Steps, of course. He comes out of the malediction. and shows up. and immediately, you know, a kiss.

Garrett: forms around him. Because he is the berserker. uh and i don't remember if we said this specifically the kith is made up of a berserker who's the most powerful. Uh... and strongest.

Garrett: I called the a core takara And then there is the wisest shaman. in the kit. And that's called the Ur -Takra. And that's where you get the twin talkers.

Garrett: idea from I guess.

m3rcier: there's And they're supposed to be equals.

Garrett: Yeah.

m3rcier: That's how often wanted it ah but over the years the core talker have

Nick: Yep.

m3rcier: essentially become the the head of each kith.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: yeah and it's just that's just kind of a natural thing that's going to happen in a relationship where you know, one of the leaders is violence. and can overpower the other one.

Nick: Oh, for sure. And I know we, we've gotten some flavor, you know, all of this, the core talker, earth talkers and lore primer. We've also seen like, um i believe ingor is addressed as an uokra in one of the flavor texts.

Nick: um I don't think we've had any direct quotes or anything from any core Takras. but But yeah, it is. pretty clear that the talkers are more tend to be more in charge.

Nick: than the earth talkers.

Garrett: Right. And we're going to go more in depth on the Jiraiya because... The next article is specifically about them. um But what's one thing really interesting. about the jury though is Well, he is the Korotakra, the Berserker. He doesn't have a...

Garrett: or Takara, like a shaman. He has a council of shaman. um

m3rcier: Yeah, well, and he's not he's not even really... the core talker. he's just The... figurehead. of the the host. And it's a gift that's in it.

Garrett: Right. Yeah, it's hard of it it's hard to like talk about it. we'll We'll come back to this. All right. We'll come back to this kid. Um, the next one is the other one we're very familiar with is the ingrock dynasty and this is where ingor comes from um This is formally.

Garrett: ah The number one kith. Like the the prime kiss in the prime of blood before Thunderstep showed up. And it was a... I can't remember what this word is called, but it's where you pass down father to son leadership.

m3rcier: Hereditary. Yep.

Garrett: Hereditary.

m3rcier: This one's...

Garrett: Yeah, thank you.

m3rcier: This one is all. Different from all of the other KISS and how Powers hand it down.

Garrett: Yeah, and so that's how we got down to Ingor.

Nick: Yep.

Garrett: Suppose, you know, he's in line to lead. uh the ingrock dynasty however you know his uh the current the leader at the time in valk was you know destroyed by thunder steps And then that really just destabilizes this dynasty.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: and so ingor has just been on this constant struggle path to try and ah you know bring their dynasty back up in power.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: but ah to no avail so far.

Nick: And there there's so much we can go on in the gorgeous.

Garrett: um

Nick: you know. we We cover this in The Problem of Blood. uh history but like in gore Being kind of like he's he's like a runt of the litter type deal

Garrett: Yep.

Nick: ah But the legacy being like. handed down from father to father, or father to the son, father to son, father to son. It's very interesting because... we don't see a lot of legacy talk in the Primal Blood.

Garrett: No. um They're definitely not as concerned with it. Um, And then. I'll be really curious to see if they release, like, the next part of Ingor's story. Because, like, he's discovered his new...

Garrett: abilities in the malediction, essentially. ah with the spirits. but And maybe that'll help him overcome Thunderstep someday. but um it's doubtful. uh all right and then uh Why don't you take over Fever Song here?

m3rcier: Yeah, so the fever song is one of the oldest kiss in the primal blood. they actually can trace themselves all the way back to the Age of Strife. which is fairly impressive for a kith of the primal blood.

m3rcier: because they usually get wiped out. Uh... fairly quickly. and or merge into another one. As with the other two is also the center of a host. So there are other smaller Kiss. Da -da.

m3rcier: kind of Ride the coattails of... this kid.

m3rcier: The I guess the center of and it doesn't really go into too much detail for us, but the center of primal bloods Thought process I guess or something octa brought up is that death is you like the ultimate goal You want to die so that you can return to your mirrors?

m3rcier: But however, since the fall... As we know, it that has been severed. uh echo is corrupted or just life in general is not all that great Uh, And since then we've had spirits appear.

m3rcier: I think we, what card was that, Nick? It's the spirit, the blood spirit.

Nick: It's a choice of brutality is the only thing I mentioned as spirits for Prompled.

m3rcier: Yep. ah So the spirits, the the soul of the individual along with the power. uh linger within the world after they're dead so they don't return to the goddess So this is a kith that is very spiritual. They will allow themselves to be possessed by those spirits. ah They tried to commune with their ancestors to learn from them.

m3rcier: And they keep. uh passing down the stories of their kith so Uh... This is probably one of the kits that knows the most about the Primal Bloods history. compared to some of the other ones.

m3rcier: But this is like your... Oh. Trying to think of ah an analog in another Another IP that might match.

Garrett: What?

m3rcier: This is your spiritual kiss. But with a...

Garrett: Yeah, I was gonna compare him straight over to the old Legion

m3rcier: some

Nick: Yeah. I was going to say, I really want to see some more primal. I want to see. a primal blood spirit unit. You know, we don't we don't have any right now.

Garrett: Yeah.

Nick: but

Garrett: Well, the article specifically mentions like... the spirits uh when they possess these the fever song um shamans or whatever and they they get, they, it becomes a sum of turns into a permanent possession which turns Uh, those shaman or orkin into something different And I don't know if we have a unit like that yet.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: um that i'm aware of

m3rcier: Don't think we do.

Nick: I... I don't think so. like The only really, like, shamanic units we have are the Spirit Shaman and the Willcaster Shaman. And I mean, not that I'm really like the old guy. Sharma has that. um i don't murder I don't know. if I don't even know if it has a name.

Nick: ah But their ability, like where they. They do more damage. Like, they have, like, Empower spell plus Berserk in a combination.

m3rcier: Yeah.

Nick: Um.

m3rcier: they get to help When they get to have health, they it's basically... Plus 2 to the spell instead of plus 1.

Nick: Yeah, plus two.

Garrett: Yeah. I think it's really interesting.

Nick: out

Garrett: The Legion. Tries to. control their spirits. And the primal. uh, invite them in. for possession.

Nick: No. They let him go. I would love to see a a primal blood. Spirit. unit that has like maybe maybe it it has recoil as like an innate ability and it only has like a low amount of health but it you know, like give it frenzy, right? It has to aggregate first and it has to charge if it has, you know, if it can.

Nick: It has recoil. It takes damage when it attacks. Make it like a two cost that does like four damage on a hit. That like has six or eight health that dies really quickly and like all of a sudden now you have a basic unit that less primal blood can like You know.

Nick: Push forward. uh you know there's so many combinations there if you have something in that category of a cheap Really high damage, but... Very fragile. It's going to die very quickly.

Nick: And it helps emulate the lore behind like. what a spirit in the primal blood looks like.

Garrett: And this might be Montezuma like sneaking a... a teaser in for us because you know it's you know like it might lead to them becoming something new and dangerous and monstrous So maybe that's like as a future release.

m3rcier: All right. Bye -bye.

m3rcier: and i'm also going to give you guys a little bit of a hint if you go to the general chat in Discord right now. So this isn't for the viewers. This is for my co -host. Someone posted an image.

m3rcier: uh for beefsteel advantage the pack that releases tomorrow Take a look at the artwork he has circled and then take a look at the artwork in the article This is something I can tell y 'all now because, you know.

m3rcier: When it releases it'll be...

Garrett: Uh...

m3rcier: public knowledge.

Garrett: Yeah yeah yeah. Well, I mean, well our last episode we talked about that, didn't we?

m3rcier: Yeah, it's the fluke.

Garrett: can't remember what it I can't remember what it's called now. Yeah, the flute.

m3rcier: Yeah.

Garrett: Oh, yeah, that's the Battle Cry flute.

m3rcier: mm -hmm

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: Yeah, yeah

Nick: Yeah.

m3rcier: That's the artwork right there. So, I mean I I really want to see some more spirit units out of them. but i I like that their spirit. or I would hope their spirit units are going to be like something different.

m3rcier: Kind of like the or the Order has spirit units, but they're all revents.

Nick: The revenants.

m3rcier: They're all they're bound to their armor.

Nick: Yeah.

m3rcier: They're bound to a weapon. Ha. I mean, I could see the the spirits for the blood all all being. Bound to like the blood or the flesh

Nick: that And that's what I'm saying. like I want to see... like Again. again Two cost unit. It's just like. blood spirit, you know, like or berserker blood, you know, whatever.

Nick: You can call whatever you want to call it. It's a two cost unit. Has like 6 '8 health. It does like four slash. like one damage. and it has frenzied. Right. Where it's just like.

Nick: It's just a spirit that is there to cause mayhem. If it hits, it's gonna hurt. But otherwise, it has recoil, it dies quick. and your opponent gets two points. But like as a problem of a player, like Thunder Steps, Leanna, all these different...

Nick: ah seekers can utilize the card. And it helps. embody that idea that of the primal blood, the berserker blood. Spirit. that we we only have a taste of right now in the choice of brutality.

m3rcier: well

Garrett: Um... Okay. So that's the Fever song. Moving on to the next one, the Sarvu. That's how I'm going to say it. This is our view. ah So these guys...

Garrett: Um... Nick, you you take this one.

Nick: Sure. Yeah. So. Right now, let's start Vue. Kenneth is... uh currently the center of a a of a host And.

Nick: Oh. The big thing for them? is that they are... aware of the weaknesses or faults of the Primal Blood.

Nick: And that's kind of the... it's It's really interesting to to me, honestly. Because we we see a lot of, it's it's like, what do you call it?

Nick: Um, Oh my goodness. Dramatic irony, right? Where like... As the audience, you can see something, the characters in the story. don't see coming. And you're like, oh, that's going to be so bad for them. They shouldn't do that thing.

Nick: The Sarvu are kind of like... privy to that knowledge. They know the Primal Blood are not. doing what they should be doing. Because they have like some kind of...

Nick: Um, or somehow wisdom about them.

Garrett: Yeah, it's like they're breaking the fourth wall. They can see the camera.

Nick: Yeah. Yeah. So like we, we can see that like, Oh, The problem, like... If only they all worked together to, like, free Emiri's and, like, they could have, like, all the Kiths could have what they want. And the Sarvu are that Kith. Right.

Nick: So like they have this idea that like. No, the proud blood, like. the The rage that they feel when they die when they tap into the the lifeblood of the earth.

Nick: And they feel the rage of Ymir as they feel the pain. they lose themselves and by losing themselves they lose any kind of sense of direction And when you lose direction, you...

Nick: you you You're not going anywhere. Right. And so the star of who. As a kith. have collectively come together and said like no we are going to figure out The best way that all of us.

Nick: that and the problem blood can work together. to achieve our goal. and our goal being freeing emirates from the thorn of olim and So it's it's really interesting, Kith. I want to see...

Nick: Some cards. uh reflecting this Particular Kith. ah Because thear this is the first time we're hearing about this in this article. And it's...

Garrett: Yeah, cut well, it yeah. they did i get I can't remember if you said it but it's They're, they can. they're turning themselves into monsters but maintaining their entire self identity.

Nick: Yeah. Yeah. it was I didn't even get to that. Yeah, exactly. I didn't even get to that yet. um yeah they they they see nature in themselves as one so like yeah of course they They do much more of the bestial.

Nick: Horns, claws, fangs. That kind of deal But it it is so I find it interesting. personally. To have a kith. devoted to like the The very like direct course. of the problem blood because you know, we have Thunder steps where We don't know what he's doing. That's kind of the point. like There's ambiguity in what Thunder Steps is doing.

Nick: Because he's just having visions and dreams and he's being led in a direction. And he currently leads the. largest kith, largest host. Of the primal blood.

Nick: the sarvu being like this kit that's like actually calculating and figuring out like how to do what they want to do most effectively. And doing so while also being like the most.

Nick: Bestial. faction. Or bestial kith. is like really cool. They're very like. No, like this earth was, Agnar, right? Agnar was here before us. Thalassia was here before us.

Nick: Everything. That we're tied to. is here. And we want to be part of that. and That's all we need to accomplish our goals.

Garrett: Yeah, and By turning themselves into on purpose specific kinds of beasts You know, that's. in the Primal blood. kit system.

Garrett: They could quickly overwhelm and take control of these bigger hosts.

Garrett: Because they can just win. The battles, essentially. like The one -on -one duels that they do.

Nick: Oui. We can hope that. Right. But the history may tell us differently.

Garrett: Yeah. Yeah. We don't know yet. Um, Alright. Alright. the next one the next one is the The anoraks. Okay, this was really weird. This one's super weird Um...

Garrett: And I don't remember if we've talked about this before, and I just forgot because... Uh... I data dumped it. Um... this is This is crazy. So. the Anoraks is the great...

Garrett: Conscious. Um, which It's like a... entity, Above. So it's it's not a spirit. But it's like ah it's almost like it's another god.

Garrett: or goddess? Um,

m3rcier: Or just another entity.

Garrett: So... i mean we're saying that but It says, you know, it's. they The anoraks is older than the fall itself is what it says. And it it. it offers freedom to the primal blood through becoming a collective ah where individual choice is gone.

Garrett: So we've seen this a lot.

m3rcier: to have that

Garrett: especially in like you know Star Trek. Um. They visit kits so the members of the anoraks visit kiss and offer healing And when they heal, whoever... is injured, in that kith, the oracles that are in the kith.

Garrett: They leave behind spores, a gift of spores, like fungi spores. And once you have the spores, growing inside you you can now communicate.

Garrett: With anoraks and like the other people that anoraks kit Um,

m3rcier: This is called the Floyd

Garrett: Yeah, I was like... What? um What do you guys think of that because that's like it like this is Because they don't really follow the Twin Talkers.

Garrett: Um... They're not following. akna They're not following any of that stuff. They're following whatever this this fun guy, Anoraks. is telling them to do.

Nick: my my current My current official stance is that Antarax...

Garrett: Um.

Nick: has all of the answers for all of our questions and true trust and guidance will be allowed to all of the believers. And that is all you need to know.

Garrett: and Yeah. I mean, it's wild. Because we don't have anything like this in the game yet. for Like the spores and the fungi.

Nick: Oh yeah, nothing.

Garrett: Um...

m3rcier: yeah so this is so this is This is where my mind went when it said spores and all that and it's anthrax Anthrax. which is a bacteria, not a spore.

Garrett: Peace.

m3rcier: That's kind of where of my mind went on it because, yeah, I mean.

Nick: Well, Take care.

m3rcier: There's the flood in Halo And then in the... Uh... Amen. I don't have Steam open. There's a game I play, The Fall of...

Nick: Last of Us.

m3rcier: Avalon.

Nick: Yeah. No.

m3rcier: All right. That they have there's a a dungeon you go into and and basically everyone's been taken over by a spore that makes them a hive mind Yeah, I mean...

Nick: And i do I do want to say one thing. um helen is that anthrax is a bacteria however it is classified as a spore forming bacteria we We have two of them.

m3rcier: Okay.

Nick: You have... um The Bacillium strain and the...

Nick: Clostridium. so um

m3rcier: So this is... malediction anthrax

Nick: Right. Yeah. Bacillium anthracis is anthrax. And then you have like costridium difficile, which you ever heard C. diff in health care terms.

m3rcier: Yep.

Garrett: Yeah.

Nick: Some of that bo botulinum botulism. comes from uh costradium botulinum Those are four forming. And so what makes them so difficult is.

Nick: Because they the way they form spores... makes them more resistant than any bacteria. uh Otherwise. so But they're more like fungus in that same sense.

m3rcier: Yeah.

m3rcier: Yeah, this kid is...

Garrett: Yeah.

m3rcier: is And it...

Nick: I love it

m3rcier: And my take on it is it's part of the Primal Blood because it's something from Amiris. Like, she made it. or something she made was corrupted into it but it sources from her ah

Nick: But did she make him?

m3rcier: and maybe

Garrett: um'm I'm going to go the other way and say it's...

m3rcier: Maybe it is her?

Garrett: It's not. for I'm going to say it's Another God. Um, That's not Ymir. I'm gonna say anoraks is a different thing.

Nick: it Well...

Garrett: It's kind of like Leastrum coming from a different portal, I think, or different dimension.

Nick: we also We also know the first children had like similar creation powers.

m3rcier: Mm -hmm.

Nick: like they They created their own civilizations. we don't

m3rcier: Yep.

Nick: Really know the details on how they did that like who Who's to say that, like, not... Some heresier. came up with like i'm gonna make like a fungus with like a really really really long term plan And it's going to be like just a fungus.

Garrett: Right.

Nick: And then. That's it.

m3rcier: it'll be interesting i mean i can see how it fits into the primal blood because it appears that it is from the earth ah and you can see how like primal blood people. It'd be interesting to see if we ever get any.

m3rcier: non -primal that become infected by it.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: Right.

m3rcier: Do they turn primal or do they still retain some of that?

Garrett: like when do you what happens when you start doing this to the order

Nick: Yeah.

m3rcier: Yeah, that that would be interesting to see what happens. like you have a knight of the order that's been infected in this part of it but he still can tap the oathbound light because he still has that connection.

Nick: Or even like... uh, fallen from the Legion. That are. Like they have these growths. Like. what What happens when you have like these... Um,

Nick: infested primal blood that are killed and then risen. as fallen. Do they continue to, like... Yeah. Does the fungus...

Nick: continue to control them as a fallen, or are they simply slaves to Anishinaabemowin at that point and the funguses? part of that. you know like we we we just don't know yet

Garrett: Yeah, i'm really curious to see where they go with this. because you know they didn't they didn't put this in the article for funsies um well i mean it's fun but Like there's clearly a ah background plan there. at that loot of they've got some sort of fun guy plan.

Garrett: in the future.

Nick: I want. I want fungal seeker.

Garrett: Fungal Seeker, Mushroom Man. Um...

Nick: one Yeah, I want a fungal seeker that allows you to control your opponent's unit.

Garrett: Yeah. okay so Okay, so that's the end of that article. We're going to move on to the next article, which is The Voice of Thunder. No, well, I guess it's Juri, Juri, the voice of thunder.

Nick: There's your eye

Garrett: Who wants to read the quote?

Nick: i I can read it.

Garrett: Take it away.

Nick: My blood kin. Can you hear the roar that travels from cloud to earth? The tremor that shakes the stance of the courageous. The rumble. that deafness of the ear of the pretentious.

Nick: It is thunder. and it declares that your warrior prophet has returned. It is time for us to bask. under the heat of the same sun once again, my kin.

Nick: Join us. in our path to reclaim what was lost. Or be crushed underfoot.

Garrett: Gosh dang goosebumps Goosebumps, Nate. Well done.

Nick: Kiral Uwir, Voice of Thunder.

Garrett: That's what I'm talking about. um man So. This article is really good. it So this really opens up. the It answers a lot of questions about Thunder Steps.

Garrett: and why he's... like doing what he's doing. So the article opens up talking about the The hot juke. is what I'm going to call it. The hot juke. yeah this is the site where your like these hosts uh gather and you know do their stuff, fighting and celebrating.

Garrett: ah And. If you are an Orokin that wants to come join this host. It's where you come to. you know, compete in the battle. and see if you're worthy.

Garrett: ah So this is.

m3rcier: Oh, and not just in normal battle. You actually have to fight. Thunderstops.

Garrett: Well, not always. Not always. that There's a... ah it There's a special group that if you fight Thunder steps and survive. You get to join. that elite club.

Garrett: And I'm trying to remember where I put the name of that. It had a specific name.

m3rcier: but But that's what ah that's what the her Duke is it's to

Nick: Are we, yeah, are we sure?

m3rcier: do that.

Nick: of I don't know that

Garrett: Now that. ah The hot juke is the, uh... the site where they gathered.

Garrett: Yeah But. um Because you can also just, you know. Fight. Other members of the... The kits as far as I'm aware. to join.

Nick: ah Yeah, I think it is.

Garrett: Because you...

Nick: It could be more. Hodge could be more of a general. Like Coliseum style Maybe.

Garrett: Well, it's it's it's you know, they make it because like In this host specifically.

m3rcier: Yeah, when he stops for a break.

Garrett: Understeps.

m3rcier: they, tear down the woods around them and then burn it flat and make a campsite.

Garrett: Right.

Nick: Right.

Garrett: Yeah.

Nick: but but we don't we Until we get another article or more clarification, we don't know that other Kiths... hold Hadjouks or if this is only... Um,

Nick: with the jura jeriah jury. um if it's truly unique to this kith then it could be unique to you have to fight thunder steps Um.

Nick: However, if... The concept. The concept.

Garrett: I don't think logistically you could make that work.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: because he would just kill you.

Nick: and conceptually like

Garrett: Bye.

Nick: If every kith can hold a hajuk, then it can't always... Revolver on Thundersteps, right?

Garrett: Right.

m3rcier: Yeah.

Garrett: I think it's... i I'm going to say a juke is like just what you call where a host gathers. Um. And this is just. Thunder Steps 1. That's what I think.

m3rcier: Receive the voice of thunders. Happy to allow any bravado God invented and challengers to the hajik.

m3rcier: yeah i mean you so when you're in the juke you you basically are you can become a challenger if you want

Garrett: Yeah. And. But challenging Thunder steps is like a whole nother level Ah. Because like, if you survive... You're a pretty amazing Oregon. because he's probably going to kill you.

Nick: I think I could take him.

Garrett: I believe it. I believe it.

Nick: Yeah. i think I could do that.

Garrett: Um...

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: So, all right. So anyways, the. The jury eye. is the biggest host and it obviously keeps growing because thunder steps is number one and everybody wants to come to him and ah the Members of the...

Garrett: that this host, you know, they look to Thundersteps as... basically the messiah of the crown of blood like he's actually akhna or Evacra herself.

Garrett: uh, like reborn. like kind Like they've come out of the malediction Uh, Because that's that's where Okna came from, right? It was from... Uh... I can't remember the name of the city anymore. Osterism.

Garrett: uh right and led them out and that's where he came from So. i could see why they would they would think that And he also speaks an unknown language. So this is interesting. They have no idea what he's saying.

Nick: That's the part to me that I don't I don't know how to work with that.

Garrett: Well, yeah, cuz it's like it's like all this the shamans of different kits showed up no art We're gonna interpret this and then they're like hey Avaka told us. What he's saying. Yeah.

m3rcier: was they're They're just, they're politicians.

Garrett: And everyone everyone just so believes him.

m3rcier: They're politicians. That's all they are.

Garrett: Yeah.

Nick: Out. I love it.

Garrett: I... And.

Nick: The concept of the voices the voices of thunder is so... Insane. to me.

Garrett: Yeah. I... i don't believe they know what he's saying i think they're just making it up

m3rcier: No, they don't. they're they're They don't know what the hell you say. and They're there for power.

Garrett: Yeah.

Nick: Yeah. They're just literally saying, like, Thunderstuff says we're going this way now. And they're like, they just follow what he's doing and they go. Thunderstuff says everybody needs to...

Nick: give 10 % of their current amount of money Tug. the host and put it in this pot. Right here, in the middle. Put it here. And then we'll click later.

Garrett: Yeah.

m3rcier: will be. It'd be like Weatherman because if they say, hey, Thunderstep said we're going this way. and then thunder goes another way they can be like oh look he changed his mind like he's He's the boss.

Garrett: Yet. and

m3rcier: like They can be like weather people.

Garrett: And this...

m3rcier: They don't have to be right.

Garrett: the voices and like the voice is of the thunder they've been doing this for 400 years Like. They've got it locked in, man. um

Nick: How do you get that job, do you think?

Garrett: Well, you have to be it

m3rcier: You killed the previous person.

Nick: Like...

Garrett: You just have to be a shaman. who is willing to work with that system.

Nick: Right. Right. I know.

Garrett: it's i mean it's just like modern big religious uh or like you know churches especially like mega churches you just got to work your way into the uh this This social circle.

Nick: Careful Garrett, you might be alienating some of our audience.

Garrett: Well, I think it's how it works go watch the precious gemstones. It's very accurate Um, Let's see here. ah but the Oh, the other thing it mentions is I keep forgetting this. The Orkin are cannibals.

Garrett: They eat each other because if you die you get feasted upon

Nick: I don't know if that's surprising.

Garrett: I guess not, but it's also like, geez, okay.

Nick: Like hey, you know Dave was the strongest person in our tribe and ah we all know that when we eat something we gain strength So ah let's all eat.

Garrett: Oh yeah, we did go through that last time, didn't we?

Nick: in

Garrett: Yes, yeah, yeah.

Nick: Yeah, yeah

m3rcier: Mm -hmm.

Nick: So, like, we're we're all going to eat Dave because he was stronger.

Garrett: It's very like...

Nick: Than all of us.

Garrett: Very Lord of the Rings orcish. Um... Hilarious. uh but anyways uh

Nick: Can we? Can we make it an episode, I think, without referencing Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones?

Garrett: No?

m3rcier: no

Garrett: Yeah.

Nick: yeah Yeah.

Garrett: it

Nick: Okay.

Garrett: well lord of the

Nick: All right. Just making sure. Just making sure.

Garrett: well first off first off lord of the rings is like the foundation

Nick: Of all of you.

Garrett: of all modern. Fantasy. All of it.

Nick: Yeah.

Garrett: So no.

m3rcier: Except for the latest Lord of the Rings. Sorry.

Garrett: Well, i don't we don't talk about that.

m3rcier: The latest Lord of the Rings we don't talk about.

Garrett: But no. I don't acknowledge it.

Nick: I didn't actually haven't actually seen Rings of Power yet.

Garrett: It's, it's, oh.

m3rcier: Oh, count yourself blessed.

Nick: is it good it Wait, is it good? Should I watch it?

Garrett: New.

m3rcier: No.

Garrett: Can you edit that out? Edit that out, Alan. Edit those words out. um Gosh dang. ah Listen, okay, so 400 years. uh they've been doing this system right the voices of thunder And all of a sudden, Thunder Steps woke up one day and is like...

Garrett: um We're not doing this circle around practicing or packs of practice anymore He's on a new mission. And. Like he is.

Garrett: I guess for the last 400 years, he's been kind of like just... Going with the flow with the voices of thunder a little bit But now he is on the move.

m3rcier: Yeah, but he made it Like when you can't communicate with someone in their native language you can still communicate like pictures like there's there's ways to communicate other than verbal Uh, That's what he did with the Voices of Thunders in the past. like He would work with them because you know they were there.

m3rcier: However, now he just doesn't talk to him anymore He just... Wakes up kills shit goes to sleep Wakes up kill shit goes to sleep. He no longer talks to them

Nick: it It paints a really interesting image. Because... A lot of Primal Blood stuff, we have this idea of like... The kits move. in a direction.

Nick: But Thunder Steps... is... himself like A. Anomaly. He's an, an, an ah an. An anomaly. So he moves. The kids follow him.

Nick: And then it's like, okay, so what does it look like when he gets like tired of walking? Right. He just sits down. You know, he he finds like a log or a boulder and he sits on it and goes like. He just...

m3rcier: Forest Gulf.

Nick: Yeah, he just stops moving and then the kid around him just stops And they... light a fire, they cook food. like I'm assuming they have to, like...

Nick: Either they feed him or he just feeds himself without any indication that he needs anything from the kith that's following him, right?

Garrett: I'm sure he's just eating. you know. Bob.

Nick: Right.

Garrett: And.

Nick: So he's just...

m3rcier: Yeah. um and then he They probably also don't like They probably make offerings to him once he's stopped that he's probably not going to turn back.

Garrett: John.

Nick: yeah he just

Nick: Yeah.

m3rcier: Also, would you want to be the person taking an offering to him? you might also be the offering yourself.

Nick: That. ah exactly exactly so it's just like it's this idea of like It's been hundreds of years. He has to eat. assuming obviously assuming Normal biology. He has to eat every day?

Nick: At least every other day, at least. You know. Are people cooking food, bringing it to him, serving him on like big these big like trays and platters being like, here's an entire roast boar.

Nick: And he just eats a pig and that's it. Or is it just like he... Moves he finds things he wants to eat eats them as he's moving And then when he needs to sleep. or Or does he need to sleep? We don't even know.

m3rcier: Yeah, listen, listen Tom, that that pig you offered me was not large enough.

Garrett: Yeah.

m3rcier: ah

Nick: Exploded.

m3rcier: Get on the spigot, buddy. you're but You're about to be next.

Garrett: He also might be just... He also might, he just might be giant and schizophrenic. Just a violent. Giant schizophrenic.

m3rcier: Yeah.

Garrett: Because like no one can beat him

m3rcier: Listen, he has a crystal shoved into his face, so...

Garrett: Yeah, like that's not well.

m3rcier: I'm gonna give him a little bit of empathy.

Garrett: uh,

Nick: Yeah. They're so...

Garrett: But...

Nick: There's so much to understand about Thunderstubs.

Garrett: at the At the end of it, so the Voices of Thunder, this is their theories. They're like, alright, he's received new instructions from the All -Mother. to free her from the thorn of Olam by going into the malediction. So I guess him going into the malediction.

Garrett: Now... is more of a recent. thing.

Garrett: I... from what i from what I understand from that, the wording of that.

Garrett: is that he's recently become a seeker. and hasn't been going in there for like. ah the last few centuries. He's been wandering around. you know, earth. causing mayhem, like destroying. like spreading disease to Mithrasil.

m3rcier: Listen, that's that is propaganda. We don't know that he did that.

Nick: That's a whole whole other thing, too.

m3rcier: ah I still think that the Order might have had a hand in that.

Nick: Like, why why would he... What? He didn't go to Midrazil. Right. Like. um

Garrett: Well, he and he infected, I can't remember his name anymore, the main Volker King.

Nick: um and All next hammer.

m3rcier: Camera out.

Nick: What?

Garrett: Yeah.

Nick: On a hammerhead.

m3rcier: Even hand.

Nick: ah Yeah, Honest Hammerhead. He was tasked with bringing down Thunder Steps, then failed. And when his body was returned to Midrazil, it had like an infection that. destroyed the whole city.

Nick: which That. it That in and of itself is crazy.

Garrett: Wait.

Garrett: Is that related to the anoraks?

Nick: No.

m3rcier: Maybe.

Nick: No, well... Who freaking knows at this point? it

m3rcier: also be It could also be an inside job, I'm just saying.

Nick: I understand.

Garrett: Does the order understand germ theory?

Nick: No, why? how How could they, right?

Garrett: I don't know

Nick: If anoraks... if they saw their moment, that was a great moment for them. But... When Onyx fought... Thunder steps and died.

Nick: That didn't necessarily have anything to do with the Andorax. Kiss.

Garrett: ah yeah It could have just been a...

m3rcier: We don't know that. They were like...

Garrett: But...

Nick: But...

m3rcier: poor spores on thunder steps like maybe he ate one of their infected

Nick: Good. It is a disease that infects the stone itself.

Nick: So.

m3rcier: I've seen plants do some shit to some stone.

Garrett: Hmm. ah So anyways, ah that's that is the current status of the Primal Blood. Um... pretty These are pretty these were two really good articles. Well done.

m3rcier: They were it's just crazy that like we're We're kind of told how the setup is. You have a Kith and you have a... Koratakra and Oratakra. or a talker.

m3rcier: And that's how it is. And then we're given these two or three kits that do not follow those rules in the slightest. versus all the other like articles where it was you have a right you have a sphere and this is how they're structured and they all follow that uh The primal blood don't even follow their own rules. They're like, yeah, no, that's not for me

Nick: Yeah, I...

Garrett: Absolute chaos

Nick: Absolutely agree. It's... The first time we have an article that so. Now, at this point, we've covered the The rights of the order. The sphere is the conclave.

Nick: The Houses of the Legion. and now the kits to the prime of blood. The kits of the Primal Blood have left us with more questions. than answers. and which is the first like Every other article gave us...

Nick: more information that we could work with. And not necessarily questions.

Garrett: Yes.

m3rcier: It's there.

Garrett: Um... Eh?

m3rcier: It's there. it's the primal Like chaos. I'm just going to call them the chaos.

Garrett: I didn't. I didn't write this down.

m3rcier: that

Garrett: I don't think, but the I remember reading the... Auric Evenhand, he's at New Osiris. Uh, He's... Like really freaked out by the new Thunder steps pattern.

Garrett: Because he thinks that New Ostroth is like the next target.

Nick: Well, and they very well could be. And that's kind of the thing with Thunderstabs is that, like... We... You know in in game right if you want to look like let's look at the game as a game. Everything's balanced. the way it should be. you know yada, yada, et cetera.

Nick: Thunder Steps. as ah a lore being, is... like a demigod he is only spoken about in like whispers. of the destruction that he brings before him.

Nick: And so every city that's near Paxos... Like... how How do you... live How do you sleep at night?

m3rcier: Because he hasn't attacked him yet. So there's a reason for that. No one knows.

Nick: right That's not the best reason.

m3rcier: It's reason enough.

m3rcier: but Yeah, I mean, more more questions than answers. uh It's just it's the faction of chaos. That's that's what I'm going with

Nick: i i'm really loving it the more we get into the lore the more i'm really loving primal blood Um, As a faction. mechanically i don't enjoy that red play Um,

Nick: You know, there's some anger play. There's some. You know.

m3rcier: Listen, I wanna do it. Ariana. and What is Arten on the field with a bunch of red and blue units and have Swarm on everybody? That's what I'm looking forward to.

Nick: ah Yeah, definitely. Definitely.

Garrett: What is our what what are the next articles? what Where are we going next?

m3rcier: The Conclave, so I believe it is... the title

Garrett: Back to the conclave.

m3rcier: Yep, back to the Conclave. and then after that because we are we are a bit behind so after that we have the uh basically the trade system. The next article. after So two two episodes from now, it'll cover the trade system for each faction.

m3rcier: I released that. one He released that article this past Friday.

Nick: And. Yep. Yep.

m3rcier: Yeah, so episode 18 is going to be titles of the conclave and then masters and apprentices.

Garrett: Awesome. Awesome.

m3rcier: so

Garrett: Okay, guys. Well, that's it for the lore of this one. um Now we're gonna move on to... the next part of our podcast, the Community Spotlight. Who are we spotlighting, Alan? got?

m3rcier: Yes, we will be doing the Seekers of Malediction. This week, our buddies over at... On YouTube, our buddies Pat and Zach. All right.

m3rcier: Those of you who don't know them. ah They are the...

Nick: They're great.

m3rcier: Dynamic Duel, who won the 2v2 event at Adepticon.

Nick: Yep.

m3rcier: Their YouTube channel is Seekers of the Malediction. much like our friends at Critical Graze. They focus on the competitive play. Specifically, they will go into deck building and then the tactics and strategy involved with that specific deck, how they built that deck.

m3rcier: And then they also do have battle reports. So they take the decks they built and they actually play with them. numerous times and they have you know they review and tell you what worked and what didn't. and what they were thinking in that moment in time.

Garrett: awesome Awesome. Yeah, go check out Pat and Zach's channel. Again, Seekers of the Malediction on YouTube. Fantastic. All right, moving on to events.

m3rcier: Yeah, events. We're not going to go over the weekly plays. We're just going to go over the... the tournaments the learn to plays that kind of thing so As of right now, the... Trials of the Everlasting should be wrapping up in the next few days That is our monthly online tournament. Usually it's 1v1. Sometimes we do a 2v2. We may be looking at doing like a draft here in the next couple of months. but uh

m3rcier: Tacticon in Denver, Colorado is actually the weekend after this episode releases, August 29th and 30th. That is Harold Ogerton. on the discord He is having a 2v2 and a 1v1, so Allegiance and Clash.

m3rcier: Also, this coming weekend will be the tournament. Tournament of Everlasting at Pandemonium Games in Michigan. Harold Matt. Nurgle painting on Discord. It's going to be a Clash event.

m3rcier: September 19th. Tournament at the Forge in Chaska, Minnesota. a Harold. uh Kovidja? On Discord, it's a clash. September 26th, I will have a clash at Warzone Houston.

m3rcier: And then the first Conclave tournament is September 5th. That is by Harold Toxic Spunk. It is a Clash event. And then in Temple, Texas at Millennium Con. our recently minted Lone Star Herald.

m3rcier: uh ccath will be doing a learn to play Honda. the Friday. So those are our events for you know the next two months.

Garrett: Excellent. Thank you, Alan.

Nick: off.

Garrett: Nick? Did you have something to say?

Nick: Oh, that means... Tons of malediction. It's incredible. The game continues to grow. We love to see it. um I don't have a date yet.

Nick: But in... September we will be running a ah demo day at our cat a good Lexington Kentucky um But that will be...

Nick: disclose here. once i have it an actual re reserve reservation date.

Garrett: To be determined.

Nick: Yep.

Garrett: Awesome. Well guys, I'm going to say that's probably the end of our episode. And I'm going to say. I've been Garrett.

m3rcier: I've been Alan.

Nick: And I've been Nick.

Garrett: Goodbye, everybody.

m3rcier: Thank you.
