Cold Open: Reynard's Heist Adventure

00:01:04
Speaker
Hello and welcome to another cold open on Eberron Renewed. I am Eric. And I'm Trevor.
00:01:11
Speaker
And I know it's been a couple of arcs since we've done one of these, but we wanted to hop back in with Sharn's favorite son, Reynard Turnveil. So yeah, let's just go ahead and jump into it, Trevor. So we are setting this cold open scene quite a while ago, prior to Reynard moving into the lower wards of the city and joining up with the Bormar Clan back when he was running with House Fierlin.
00:01:40
Speaker
So yeah, this scene is going to take place on a jewel heist that Reynard was on with a couple of other family members. Do you want to introduce the two family members that are going to be featured in the scene?
00:01:58
Speaker
Yes. So the first is going to be an older brother named Alistair. And the second is a cousin named Basil. Basil. Basil. Yes. And, uh,
00:02:20
Speaker
Go ahead, because we're not gonna be able to dive too deep into this kind of shorter scene. Talk a little bit about your relationship with these two people at the time of this scene currently taking place. Obviously, where we're at in the campaign, the relationship are probably very different, but where we're at for this scene.
00:02:40
Speaker
uh where we're at uh there's a great relationship between um or with Alistair um just a good brotherly bond and uh you know to go on jobs together and get stuff done and and have a good time um and uh with Basil it was just kind of a forced pairing um didn't
00:03:04
Speaker
Not, not really that, you know, just, you just meet those people that don't mess well with you. You know, those cousins that you're the same age. And so you have to hang out together at family functions. Like, I don't like, we don't know. We don't have any similar interests. Other than being thieves. Okay.
00:03:24
Speaker
Perfect. Um, well, yeah, let's go ahead and get to, uh, get to it. So where we're picking up for this scene is you, Alistair and Basil are, it's going to be impossible to not say that. Cause otherwise I'm going to say Basil, like the herb, like Basil de Falarn are veerlin. Um, so you all are, um, on a job.
00:03:54
Speaker
to procure some jewels. You've been commissioned out to go on a jewel heist, and you are breaking into the safe of the Celestial Vista Restaurant up on the Skyway District of Charn, the chunk of land that floats above the rest of the city.
00:04:16
Speaker
for context for our listeners, that's the district that Sana and Kath's parents live on. But it's where the wealthiest of the wealthy live. Yeah. And the Celestial Vista is actually owned by Evics Irmarasha, who is the Sharn City Council representative for this city district. So she's the representative of the Richie Rich folk.
00:04:40
Speaker
Wow, I should not have suggested a jewel heist. So yeah, you Alistair and Basil are in the process of breaking into the the back room of the Celestial Vista restaurant that she owns and stealing some jewels out of the safe.
00:04:59
Speaker
Um, so yeah, we'll pick up. Um, it's, it's a very late at night. Uh, someone even call it early morning at this point. Uh, though for house fear, Lynn, that's not uncommon for you all to be out on jobs.
00:05:13
Speaker
And Basil is at the door working on the lock to the back room and Alistair is keeping watch, standing kind of on the edge of the platform that this restaurant's on, kind of looking around, making sure no city watchmen are coming or anything like that. What is, what is Raynard doing? Uh, probably
00:05:41
Speaker
Let's not just say probably. You get to dictate in fact. Wait, so sorry, now that I've laughed. Basil's keeping watch. No, Alistair's keeping watch, Basil's working on the back door. Okay. I would say Raynard is just maybe, or not maybe, he is. I would say Raynard is
00:06:08
Speaker
uh just overlooking like a documentation of what exactly they're supposed to be looking for and where it is so they know exactly where to head after they get in okay
00:06:20
Speaker
And you hear over your shoulder kind of making your head pound a little bit, Basil's voice saying, Drannier, get over here. I need another set of hands. All right, what do you need help with? Well, just take these these tools and take that part and hold it this way. And he's just like basically trying to get you to hold the tools a certain way while he continues to work on things.
00:06:50
Speaker
um at least put yourself to some good use i mean after all when's the last time you had a truly successful job and draenor rolls his eyes so far out of his head and holds it in place um
00:07:09
Speaker
You hear Alistair kind of chuckle from a distance and said, oh, don't listen to Basil Dranier. His last job, what was it? 50 gold pieces was the take for that job? Basil, great work for the house.
00:07:25
Speaker
and it's Basil's turn to kind of smolder and roll his eyes. But you do hear the door, the lock to the door click as Basil looks at you with a very self-assured smirk. And well, thank you for your help. You were vital in this mission thus far. I'm starting to see where Raynard gets his... his sass. It's passed down.
00:07:55
Speaker
Um, um, Alistair kind of interjects and says, well, Basil, you've had all the fun. Let, uh, let Dranier get a crack at the safe before, uh, when, when we get inside and Alistair kind of gives you a nod. And Dranier pushes by and starts leading.
00:08:20
Speaker
Down a hallway, I assume? Well, you basically enter, you entered a kitchen area, because remember, you're breaking into a restaurant, so you kind of walked in through the staff door, essentially. But you all, the documentation you were overlooking was the blueprints for this place, obviously, and so you know exactly where to go and what door to get through, and you find yourself in a small office that looks
00:08:49
Speaker
very, you would say, in your line of work, intentionally unassuming. You know that, generally speaking, smart, rich people hide their most valuable stuff in places that look like there's nothing valuable there. So it's a very non-decorated office, very bland, very drab, very small, and there is a small, like, the real world
00:09:20
Speaker
like equivalent would be like a motel safe, like just one of those small safes with like the punch pad and
00:09:28
Speaker
You could literally just pick up the safe and walk out with it. Uh, so you see one of those sitting on a table at the back of the room. Um, so yeah, that's what you see. Well, with this, uh, all these little clues that this is a odd situation, I think a drain year would say, you know what, Basil, why don't you have a go?
00:09:52
Speaker
you don't think that you can do it, then I suppose I could step in. Oh, I don't think I can. Basil twirls his thieves tools around his finger as he jumps across the room and he he kind of looks over his shoulder at you and Alistair and Alistair gives you a look and kind of rolls his eyes. It's clear that Alistair isn't a huge fan of Basil either.
00:10:19
Speaker
And he says, well, I would hate for you all to not get to see the show of my mastery. So let me bring this over to the desk. And he grabs the small safe to pick it up. And just as soon as he like grabs around it, you see Alistair's like hand start to like gesture in a like, no. And you just see, um, electric energy kind of run up around.
00:10:42
Speaker
Basil's, like, arms as, like, clearly there was a trap to keep somebody from picking up the safe and walking out with it. He's, ah! Oh. Ah. That hurt. That hurt. Really bad. Ah. Uh, somebody else. Somebody else do it. I don't like this. Raynaw, or, Genya, you, you do it. Well, see, I knew you'd figure something out, Basil.
00:11:05
Speaker
Basil just smolders at you. And so then Dragnier gets his tools out and walks toward the safe and assesses the situation a little more carefully. Yeah.
00:11:19
Speaker
Um, yeah. And you can clearly tell that with a discerning eye, the trap that was meant to rig this safe is pretty obvious to a skilled eye. It's good that Basil was just wanting to show out a little bit. Um, but it seems to be a difficult lock.
00:11:37
Speaker
So it is going to take some ingenuity on your part to actually crack the safe. Uh, but most of the security measures are against somebody picking up the safe and walking out with it. Um, if you're just trying to pick the lock, then, uh, it's, it's pretty standard for a safe, although a really well made one. Okay. Well, then I think we pick the lock.
00:12:00
Speaker
Okay. Um, so yeah, it, it takes you a little bit of time. Um, and Basil will occasionally chime in with a snarky remark about how long it's taking you, but Alistair is quick to, um, Oh yes. Cause your attempt was quite shocking Basil. It is just skill.
00:12:19
Speaker
um this is the sassiest group um so yeah after after a bit you crack the safe and you open it and you find um you find a a small necklace with like a little locket on it um and then you see four just gigantic diamonds sitting in there um like diamonds
00:12:46
Speaker
probably worth at least 10,000 gold pieces. So you're looking at about 40K sitting right in front of you. There's no real apparent value in the small locket, but that's what you see in the safe.
00:13:05
Speaker
And I- What do you do? Yeah, I think Dranyard takes the diamonds in his hand. Okay. If they can hold them in his hand, they're- I mean, it would be very much kind of a like, like when you're trying to carry four glasses to a table in one hand kind of thing where it's like, oh God. Well, maybe two in each hand. Yeah. And just passes them off to Alistair. Oh, oh my, well done. Oh, good God.
00:13:35
Speaker
These are quite valuable. Somebody's going to be really upset that these are gone. Well, if you all don't mind, I'd like to keep this necklace as a spoil. We weren't sent after it, but it's in here. Oh, getting sentimental about a job that you actually did well on? Want something to remember it by? Well, Basil, you certainly sparked my inspiration.
00:13:58
Speaker
And Basil continues to just fume. And Alistair Chuckle is like, why not go and hold on to it? And yeah, you can shut the safe and reset the lock pretty easily to where
00:14:17
Speaker
nobody would really know that you all were here. Aleister, using his mark, uses a modified form of Prestidigitation to remove all your fingerprints and traces that you all were here to cover up any evidence. And you all make your exit. One thing that you do notice though,
00:14:41
Speaker
is when you all try to get on the back door and relock the back door, you discover that Basil actually broke the lock when he was unlocking it. And Basil was just like, well, if Drania would have had the tools where I told him to, then this wouldn't have happened. Well, I guess if we couldn't trust you to check a safe before you pick it up, we couldn't trust you to not break a door, could we, Basil? Let's...
00:15:09
Speaker
and Alistair kind of trying to interject himself between you two. Let's just go and I'm sure that, here, let's go back in. We'll steal a couple items of kitchen equipment so they'll think that,
00:15:24
Speaker
It was just a smash and grab to get some random things out of the kitchen, and it'll bias some time so they won't think to check the safe right away. Because if they come in and see nothing missing from the kitchen, they might be concerned and get there too quickly before we can move these things on the market. Because, you know, once somebody this powerful puts out a call of, hey, I'm missing four very, very, very large diamonds, it's gonna be harder to move them. So, Basil, go in there and steal some things.
00:15:52
Speaker
Jania and I will be waiting out here, and Basil kind of looks between Alistair and you, but this is your mess. You need to fix it.
00:16:03
Speaker
Fine and Basil goes inside and you hear him kind of. Powderly smashing around and knocking some things over and. Comes out with a few knives, a few pots and pans, just some some random things and Basil just without even really regarding either of you walk straight past you all to where Alistair was keeping watch at the edge of the platform and he just looks back at you all and he throws it over the edge of the platform.
00:16:33
Speaker
and then walks back. Perfect. And Alistair says, all right, well, it seems to be a job well done. Let's head home. One more thing. Yes. It closes the door behind to the kitchen and then kicks it open so it looks like it was a real break and enter. Good thinking, Drenia. Well done. Oh, Drenia, dang it.
00:16:58
Speaker
You had one slip up. Okay, and then, yeah, you all take off back home. And that's going to do it for this cold open for Drennier der Vierlen.
00:17:16
Speaker
Jones, Jones, last name Jones. Dranyardiffierlin, which is your real name. So that was a fun, yay. So that was a fun little revelation. I hope you all enjoyed the cold open just now and enjoyed the new characters that we've introduced from Raynard, if that's your real name, Turn Vale's backstory. So yeah.
00:17:43
Speaker
All right. Well, thank you all so much for listening. I hope you enjoy the episode to come. And yeah, bye. Good sign off, Trevor. Oh, I know you're waiting for me. Bye.

Main Episode: Consequences and Strategy

00:18:01
Speaker
Hello and welcome to Eberron Renewed, an actual play podcast set in the Eberron campaign setting. I'm your game master, Eric. I'm Phillip. I'm Trevor. I'm Randy. And I'm Jeff.
00:18:12
Speaker
and welcome to another episode. Gentlemen, what happened last time? Oh, bad stuff. Yeah. Kath was arrested. Kath was arrested by, it is, it feels very clear to have at least that Kath was arrested by the same two bounty hunters, is what I want to keep saying. What's the official? Sentinel Marshals. Thank you, Sentinel Marshals.
00:18:41
Speaker
the same two that came after Hob on the train job. And they have her and their instructions were basically, come get her. And there's also a bounty out on Hob, Reynard, Eris, and Milo. So at the end of the episode, we sent Sigil and Sana in to see what's the Happy Habs.
00:19:12
Speaker
So did you all just stay sitting in in Tasha? It was about 20 minutes before they came back out. Would you all just stay there or? Eris is probably sitting in the in the back of the of the the vessel. She's got a whole bunch of components laid out in front of her and she's been.
00:19:33
Speaker
Assembling them and looking nervously at the at the enclave and looking up nervously at the enclave And there is a I mean, there's a very conspicuous duffel bag tucked behind her Milo is not in Tasha he is a
00:19:51
Speaker
standing on a close corner looking around to see if anybody is perhaps trying to observe us, like are we being watched or anything like that? Because Milo's a little bit uncomfortable being that close. Fair enough. Raynard. Raynard's just chilling. Okay. I think Hobb is also out of Tasha but near enough that if
00:20:18
Speaker
someone came to menace those two in the boat, he could be there before the first hit happened but he's definitely not in the boat simply because he trusts it as a mode of conveyance and appreciates it as that but it is not a thing he likes to just chill floating around in for too long. He is confident that nobody shall menace Milo. He's near you. He's with you. Oh, he's with me. Uh yeah. Sorry. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. So, he's confident. Nobody will. Yes.
00:20:46
Speaker
Milo, give me a two purple difficulty perception check as you're kind of looking around, seeing if anybody's looking at you. I can't make this check because I assume we're back to back for full 360 coverage. Because we have zebra vision. You didn't know that in Halflings? Milo sees absolutely nothing.
00:21:11
Speaker
It's been a heck of a month, Milo. You're trying to keep an eye out, but you got a lot of thoughts going around in your head right now, so. Bob, have you noticed anybody perhaps trying to keep an eye on us? Go and roll, Hob. Okay, but I do want to say I'm rarely not stared at.
00:21:34
Speaker
Would you like to use a story point to upgrade exactly what I want to do zero success one advantage So you're kind of keeping an eye out trying to spot if anybody's looking for you all and you don't You don't really get a beat either way you you can't tell there are people walking about but I
00:21:57
Speaker
You can't really discern whether or not they're paying special attention to you all because they know who you are. Or it's like, oh, hey, there's a Goliath. Weird. And then going on about their business.
00:22:13
Speaker
So it's hard to tell. With the advantage, well, I mean, is there anything you'd like to spend it on? Trying to think. There's nothing I can think of right now. Like, I have a lot of ideas, but they're all more than one advantage, for sure. So I think maybe I'll just send a boost, unless you've got a good idea. Yeah, we can just pass a boost to the next check made. Okay, so...
00:22:39
Speaker
After the amount of time Milo, Hob, you're not really aware of anybody paying special attention to you. You all, anybody paying attention to the doorway would see Sana and Sigil walk out and begin walking just straight B-line to Tasha. As they pass Hob and Milo, if they just keep moving towards the boat, Hob falls in line behind him to just hear what's up.
00:23:09
Speaker
And they see you all and Sana says, she looks very confused, but she says, let's go talk with everyone. And so she gets to Tasha and she kind of sits on the front of the boat with her feet inside of it and says, so they do have Kath. She is there. And
00:23:38
Speaker
they didn't have much interest in talking to me or Sigil. And when I tried to ask about potentially paying off the bounty or something like that, they also didn't really give me a whole lot of leeway. They said that the payoff of this particular bounty is not Gallifars. So essentially, they said as a gesture of
00:24:06
Speaker
good faith that tonight they want a meeting with all of us. Well, I say all of us, specifically you all. They knew that I was associated with you. They know obviously because Cath is associated with you all. But they want to have a meeting basically to negotiate the release of Cath.
00:24:39
Speaker
So they're just kidnappers now. Well, they were kidnappers. I mean, they were kidnappers earlier. This is just a hostage situation. I mean, I don't know, Eris. Like, yeah, there were two Sentinel Marshals that, according to them, came and tried to collect Hob and Kath got in the way and so she was obstructing Sentinel Marshals attempting to serve a bounty.
00:25:05
Speaker
Is is the story that they're telling anyway? and so yeah, I mean that they they said that the the meeting would be with the person who has the the power and the ability to To clear the the bounty off the books essentially for Kath so The the agreeance of
00:25:35
Speaker
meeting in a neutral site was that to ensure that basically you all aren't going to walk into the enclave and never walk out again, basically. So they agreed to meet in in Middle Dura near the the docking area where we went kind of near where we were to to enter the fallen district.
00:26:06
Speaker
So basically meet him at the docks for shady dealings. Uh, it sounds so cliche when I say it out loud. So, so yeah, that's, that's their ask. And yeah. Did they let you see your sister? No. I'm sorry. It is what it is. I sigil just kind of looking at everybody and kind of the, the forlorn nature of this conversation is just breaking her out. Not an option.
00:26:39
Speaker
I mean, that's, it seems to be well within our wheelhouse. It's certainly an option, but I, breaking her out perpetuates a problem. There's a chance we can end it tonight. There. There is. What do you say we, uh, go take a look at this meeting area while there's still daylight? All right. Okay. So is that the plan that you all are going to drive over to where Sana kind of designates the meeting area is?
00:27:11
Speaker
I think it seems foolish not to scout it. Okay. Yeah. So, um, Sana gives you the, the location that they basically gave her, um, for lack of a better term, the address. And you all are able to head to middle Dura and the location that they, um, they gave you all to meet is a very, like, it looks like there is either plans
00:27:41
Speaker
Or at one time, there was a very large warehouse building on this plot, but it is just stone. It's like a shelf built out of a tower. And so it's kind of based on whatever the intention of somebody scouting this spot would be, the immediate thing that would pop into your head is it would be impossible to like,
00:28:04
Speaker
hide a sniper kind of thing. You can't have a bunch of people ready to jump out of the shadows. It's very empty plot of land, like a parking lot, essentially, but with no cars or boats. I turn to Milo and I say, well, I suppose we ought to call off the sniper. Yes, we should. I mean, I hear a long way off.
00:28:32
Speaker
Should we go, and this is Sigil, tell somebody? I mean, I know it was brought up briefly as a possibility, but the clan, like, Cath is with the clan. Surely they would have opinions on how's Deneth just taking her in on bogus stuff? Like, I
00:29:00
Speaker
At the very least, we could tell them, hey, we're meeting them at this spot. If something goes sideways, it's Dennis that did it. That was exactly going to be my next suggestion. Sorry to step on your ideas. So they can calculate whether it's better for their profits to sell us out. Well, perhaps a lateral move might be a better idea than running it up the chain.
00:29:30
Speaker
Obviously, we're not gonna tell Vigo he doesn't care. Satan, I feel as though we've been a bit of enough of a bother to him lately. But there's always Hutch and Nessa. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, keeping clan employees safe from other
00:29:55
Speaker
Houses is kind of their whole deal. Is that not Rob is in it. They're gonna bring sauna. So what's What's having them there? I mean they're gonna they're not gonna bring kath No, so what's having them? They're gonna comes to a fight Good we done I mean, I have a feeling that that Milo Would have an idea on if he should approach Satan with this or not and
00:30:26
Speaker
I mean, it would ultimately be Milo's call. I mean, Satan has expressed a great deal of concern for Milo's well-being, asking about the state of rebuilding, asking about that stuff. But at the same time, in your last meeting with him, he kind of specifically said, unless it's something big, then
00:30:49
Speaker
keep the chain of command kind of thing. So yeah, it would ultimately be your call about whether or not you think this is, quote unquote, something big in Satan's eyes. Or you could go to another group within the clan like the Gulls, like Hob was mentioning. And just- Milo's willing to approach Vigo. Vigo? Yes. I mean, we're his crew. I mean, he's responsible for us.
00:31:18
Speaker
whether he likes all of us or not. I mean, Milo is definitely the only one that Vigo would even give a second to about this. So if you, I mean, I'm up, I'm up for all avenues. So if you would like to talk to Vigo, I certainly say go for it. I obviously won't be in the room. Milo would take Harris.
00:31:47
Speaker
No, I think Milo is willing to go by himself, if that's what the party. If he goes willing to meet in a room alone with Milo and Eris, Eris will go. I mean, I think he probably will not take Eris. If that's what you guys, you know, if we decide that's the best course of action. Well, you know, I believe Sana has a point.
00:32:15
Speaker
I'm certainly willing and quite capable of going to visit with Viggo, as Satan has said, we should keep the chain of command. And I think, you know, if we were all to disappear, I think the clan should know if this is some sort of an ambush and things go, as I said earlier, terribly wrong. I know how you all feel about Viggo, and I understand that.
00:32:45
Speaker
Definitely not a fan either, but I have not had much trouble in my dealings with Vigo. I might, though. If you think it'd be helpful, then by all means, give it a shot. In addition to how I feel about Vigo, I'm fairly certain of how Vigo feels about me, so perhaps leave out the bit where this all began from a personal vendetta when I wronged someone. When I wronged someone a lot like Vigo.
00:33:17
Speaker
You know what, I didn't wrong, actually, let me. I write it, it's obvious. Okay, and there's nothing to say that we only have to take one track if you all each want to go do something different to potentially deal with the situation you can, or, I mean, it's entirely up to you all how you want to play this.

Allies and Negotiations

00:33:38
Speaker
I want to talk to Hutch just because I have to assume they've dealt with, is it Dennis or Denise?
00:33:45
Speaker
I say Dennis. Okay. They've dealt with House Dennis before, probably in potentially even equally spurious situations. So I think speaking with Hutch is still a good idea. And since Hob made a bit of a connection with him, he's going to volunteer to do that. Okay. Reynard, anything you would like to do in terms of this situation?
00:34:08
Speaker
Um, I was thinking that Raynard probably has the least amount of care of what happens with Viggo, so I guess probably tell along with Milo. I don't think Raynard had too much, at least not a huge altercation with Viggo, so. Okay. Uh, maybe not even, not have the conversation, but at least go with Milo. Okay.
00:34:38
Speaker
Um, Eris. Eris would like to run, but that doesn't seem on the table. So, um, she'll probably go with Hob because if it comes to running, Hob's the one she would be entirely unwilling to leave behind. Okay.
00:34:57
Speaker
All right, well then. Where is the best place? Do you think Sana is going to talk to Viggo to appeal, maybe find some humanity that still is hiding inside of him when she says my sister has been unlawfully captured?
00:35:15
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, she can absolutely go with the Milo and Reynard contingent. And, I mean, Sigil can tag along with Hob and Aerys to go meet another Warforged. So, obviously,
00:35:40
Speaker
Milo Reynard, you know that Vigo has his office, the only place that would be fitting for a halfling of his station at Boromar HQ. And then
00:35:54
Speaker
You all found out at the party, I don't think we verbalized it, but the goals headquarters is actually in Daggerwatch, which is in Upper Dura. It's a military kind of space. It's a garrison type district. It's, you all know, one of the most dangerous quarters of the city. And like during the last war, riots were really common amongst citizenry.
00:36:22
Speaker
and it has the largest concentration of City Watch of any district in the city. So yeah, that's where they are located. Cool. So I guess, who would like to go first, basically? Because we can do these scenes one after the other.
00:36:47
Speaker
Well, I imagine that Jeff and I will be too angry after you role play Vigo again. So that's a good idea. Let's go talk to her first. Okay. Then Jeff and I can leave the room and you can be Vigo and text us when you're done. Or, you know, I just don't text us. You know what? Because you know what? I don't like you after you've been Vigo for a little while. You change it.
00:37:14
Speaker
God's honest. I was like, he's your friend. He's your friend. OK, so, so Hob and Eris and Sigil, I guess take Tasha, would you all drop Milo and Rainard off at Boromar HQ or would they just get a cab? I guess so. Could drive into the vicinity of Vigo. So.
00:37:40
Speaker
You drop those two and Sana off at Boromar HQ and then you all take off for Upper Dura to Daggerwatch. Yeah, as soon as you pull in, it is a heavily fortified district of the city. Most of the buildings are at least partially made of stone.
00:38:00
Speaker
there's like a lot of windows within the district are reinforced in some capacity. So yeah, for being in an upper district of the city, it looks like a pretty rough and tumble district. So yeah, oh, and you all also do know that this is also the home of the Red Cloak Battalion. They also have their HQs up here, so.
00:38:27
Speaker
So anyway, you all find, without too much incident, the goals hang out spot. It's a small garrison style building.
00:38:43
Speaker
as you walk in, you immediately are not met with a receptionist. You're not met with any kind of pomp and circumstance. You walk into a large training room and you just see probably around half a dozen people at training dummies in various forms of combat fighting, just training essentially. And one of the
00:39:11
Speaker
people that you see training against a very large, stiff wooden dummy is Hutch, just bare knuckle boxing on this wooden dummy. And seems to be very focused and intent on their training. Is that what you work on?
00:39:38
Speaker
I think Hobbes is going to go and get in this field of vision. Tap him on the shoulder and be like. Yeah. And then you get punched. No, not in range. Field of vision. Yeah. And so as you're crossing the room, it very much it's kind of loud as people are talking over their own training and there's other rooms attached as you like walk
00:40:05
Speaker
through it, you get sight into another room that is an archery range and also spell casting range. So yeah, you see that there's lots of different rooms for lots of different means of training. And you kind of get, the dummy is near the wall, so you kind of try to get into that field of vision.
00:40:27
Speaker
And, um, Hutch steps in for like an, an elbow strike with their left elbow across the, the face of this, this dummy. And as his body turns, he catches, Oh, Hey, um, sorry. Nope, don't, don't, don't hab. That's right. And I think, uh,
00:40:56
Speaker
Hub chuckles at Harrison says, I mean, you know, for one meeting very close. It's hob. Hob. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. So what'd that do? Do you gestures at the time? I can make it move. Oh, that'd be interesting. Like not like alive, right? Just like predictable patterns. Which would you want? I don't want to beat on something that's living that can't defend itself.
00:41:25
Speaker
I could make it defend itself. I was just thinking, wouldn't it be great if it could counter? Fair enough. Yeah. If that is the reason you're here, we can certainly sit down and talk about it. Eris, right? Yeah. Eris left a bit more of an impression on Hutch in the conversation. Eris sort of stands up straight. It was explained to me after that I
00:41:56
Speaker
might have been rude to you the last time we talked. And Hutch just kind of lets an awkwardness of silence hang in the air for a moment and says, it's okay. I have a lot of feelings on my time back then and it
00:42:26
Speaker
It's hard, you know, um, so, but thank you for saying that and, um, let's just move forward. How about that? Yes.
00:42:40
Speaker
Hub is impressed, not that necessarily that she did that, but that she remembered that she had been told. That might have been a little, just immediately being like, that seemed fine and moving on with her life. Do you have a moment? We need to pick your brain about a problem we're having. Yeah, sure. Let's go and step back here. I have a small
00:43:09
Speaker
closet, for lack of a better word, that we can sit in and talk. And he walks you through a door, and it's a remarkably small room that he literally just has a collection of stools stacked up against the wall. He doesn't keep a desk or anything, so he just pulls a couple of stools off and says, go and sit down. What's going on? One of our crew.
00:43:36
Speaker
Oh, and Sigil, I have not been narrating Sigil being there either. Sigil seems very nervous about all of this, about all of the spells being cast and just the violence that they seem to be in the midst of makes them uneasy. And Hutch acknowledges Sigil and says like, oh, I don't think we met. I'm Hutch. Sigil.
00:44:05
Speaker
Just Sigil, like, oh, well, good to meet you, Sigil. And then pulls a stool out for Sigil to sit on as well. So one of our crew has been abducted by House Deneth. It is a legitimate bounty pulled through illegitimate means, illegitimate accusations. Does that make sense?
00:44:35
Speaker
Sounds like them, yeah, go on. Well, you're the people to talk to when it comes to past dealings with other houses, am I not right? Yeah, I mean, I guess it depends on what you're asking of us in terms of... We're not asking you to mobilize. I just wanted to talk with you about the dineth.
00:45:04
Speaker
Yeah. Does negotiate and work. Are we going to have to fight our way out? Is our money going to be involved? I mean, what if I told you this all stemmed from me hurting some little baby's pride? Ah, yeah. Well, I mean, that's just, that's the city. I mean, you hurt the wrong person's pride and you get thrown off a tower half the time. Right.
00:45:31
Speaker
Yeah, we've had some run-ins with all of the houses, obviously. And it would be better if it was Madonna, honestly. But Deneth, their bounties aren't always paid in gold. Oftentimes they have asks of the people that are trying to get a loved one or
00:46:01
Speaker
an associate out of their custody. And so oftentimes it will be a quid pro quo, do this for me and we'll take care of the bounty. The bounty is basically a favor for lack of, that's the currency that they want. Now other times it is Gallifar's and you throw enough money at the problem and it goes away. And those are the, that's sometimes great. Other times they put the price so high that nobody could hope to pay it.
00:46:30
Speaker
you're not in the worst possible situation you could be. It just depends on the severity of their ask, basically. So we've heard some horror stories from people of what they ask and then other people it's fairly mundane stuff. So we've been invited to a meeting.
00:46:58
Speaker
tonight to, uh, you know, we were told to discuss terms in your experience or in your recon. Is that what's going to happen or are we about to get it ambushed? I mean, they don't typically, uh, operate so overtly, I guess. I mean, attacking you in the midst of Sharnar, attempting to apprehend you
00:47:25
Speaker
uh and you all potentially putting up a fight uh the city watch is around other houses there's a lot of eyes basically so i think you're relatively safe in that regard um if if you're particularly concerned about that uh i mean
00:47:45
Speaker
we could provide some backup, essentially, just to at least inflate your numbers. But no, I don't think you should be too concerned about them just grabbing you in the night and taking you to their enclave, because it would just be too messy. Digital cell. Did they mention anything about you? Come alone, no cops, any of that trash or?
00:48:13
Speaker
Not that I recall, no. They just said to meet them at this place to negotiate terms at a neutral site. They seem to make a big to do about, I think, to assuage our concerns about potentially being ambushed or attacked or obviously meeting in the enclave or in the courtyard in front of it. But there was no specific come-alone kind of thing. So, no.
00:48:42
Speaker
Well, Hutch, if you're not busy, I got an inkling of a feeling that they're going to be bringing their own big old warforged. So if you'd like to come hang out as well. Do you think they still have that guy on retainer? Has he been at the ring? I don't know where he's been. I don't keep up with him.
00:49:03
Speaker
But he is, I was genuinely curious. Oh, I didn't realize that the ring on a fairly regular basis, right? Um, it's been like at least a month since that job. He's probably, he's probably been back once, maybe twice since the, uh, the fight we did for the downtime. He, he, he, because he does not rely on it as his income, it is his blow off steam, have a little bit of fun, you know, make a little bit of money kind of thing. Yeah. Mm hmm.
00:49:30
Speaker
But he's definitely been and I, if it's with Eric's blessing, I would say both or anytime he's been, he's not seen the Ram because obviously it would have immediately turned into a fight. I don't, I don't even know at this point if they'd have to pay him. He just seems to really want to try to hurt me. And what warforged is this? And I think you. Oh, he goes by the Ram. He's, he's like mutated or something by the morning.
00:50:00
Speaker
And Hutch's demeanor shifts a lot after that statement by Eris. He's like, oh, okay. He was fighting Nob and he started, I don't know, emitting the mist. Okay, so what do you need in terms of the House Dennith stuff? Just presents? Yeah, well that's the problem, I don't know.
00:50:30
Speaker
I came here just to kind of ask if... I came here mainly to ask if this meeting was on the up and up, or if they're gonna try to be a snatch and grab. And to be fair, just to correct myself, the Scharn contingency of House Dentist who I'm talking about, obviously, they're a large organization that... I can't speak to any other sections of the House, but what I've experienced here in Scharn,
00:50:56
Speaker
up and up wouldn't be the word I would use. But I think you're relatively safe in terms of the possibility of being outright attacked or abducted in this circumstance. So, okay. No, we're not looking for a phalanx or anything. That seems a bit excessive. But if I'm extending a personal invitation to you, if you'd like to take it, and if not, I understand. Um,
00:51:25
Speaker
I do want to roll to convince him to come.
00:51:35
Speaker
Sure. I mean, I was just trying to take the decision out of your hands unless you are trying to just to find a good way to say no to keep him out of the thing, in which case I'll shut up and let you say no. Well, no, it's not that. So yeah, go ahead and no, it can be interesting to roll. Go ahead and give me a one purple, one red difficulty because Hutch's mindset is not in a good place right now to be
00:52:00
Speaker
Convinced of anything. Is that negotiation or charm? It's obviously not coercion. I mean, you're not offering him anything in return. Like if you're offering to pay him something, then it would be negotiation. But since you're just asking, hey, you want to come? I mean, he drinks for free in the morning.
00:52:21
Speaker
Um, it's another problem with the business model for sales. Yeah. So charm. Yeah. Well, no, if the implication in this conversation is like, um, help us out now and like maybe in the future we can be of assistance kind of thing, then I'll take negotiate. Yeah. I'll be honest. It just occurred to me that sometimes we roll in this game. If I had, I would have put some sort of negotiation thing on the board originally if I thought to roll, but so yeah, so we can just treat it as kind of, this is a,
00:52:50
Speaker
a tit-for-tat kind of thing in terms of the negotiation, so. Your boy did take two ranks in negotiation about three hours ago. Pompompomp. And roll. One success, one threat. Yep. Okay, so yeah, he pauses for a second and is like, yeah, I'll go. Yeah, I,
00:53:20
Speaker
I can be there just as backup in case anything goes sideways. And yeah, and we'll just figure out something in the future just to make a square. But yeah, if you give me the address, I can meet you down there. I still need to finish up my training and stuff, and I'll just meet you at the time that you let me know. And, Hob,
00:53:47
Speaker
does not remember the address, but he kind of describes the place based on the flyby they did, and it's not good. I didn't give you an address, yeah. It's not good, but he can get there. Yeah. Well, it's because you've got to go three dimensional directions. Yeah. Yeah, you take a left here, and then you go straight down. Yeah, turn down. You've got to turn up at the weird tree. Yeah. And the threat is going to be that if anything, like just
00:54:17
Speaker
Throughout this entire encounter, Hutch is thoroughly off of his game. Um, basically is the threat. Um, so yeah. And anything else that you all want to say to Hutch? He, he, he gives you assurances. Yeah, I'll, I'll be there and I'll, I'll, I won't come armed to the teeth, but I'll, I'll be prepared in case anything goes sideways. Do you have teeth?
00:54:48
Speaker
I knew it. I knew it too. I saw it coming. No, it's just an expression. No, I know it is, but it made me think and so I thought I'd ask. No, I don't need teeth since I don't need to eat, so. I don't know. I mean, you know.
00:55:13
Speaker
It's fine, Harris. I'm going to continue with my training, so I'll meet you all at the time. Well, thank you for your time. I'll make all of this up to you. That's a promise.
00:55:30
Speaker
And Sigil kind of speaks up just before they stand and just says, I'm sorry, I just want to make sure it's okay. I did a quick sketch of your ghoulra to take with me. Is that okay? And Hutch just kind of
00:55:49
Speaker
I guess that's fine. I just don't do anything odd with it. It's like, I won't. Thank you. Just had this horrible, horrible image of like the the super ridiculous Saturday morning cartoon version of sigil just walking around sticking a piece of paper over warforged faces and taking a rubbing doing a rubbing of their foreheads. How wildly bad.
00:56:16
Speaker
How many people in this crew am I going to have to have a conversation with about don't touch people that they don't want you to? I think Milo might be the only person I haven't had that talk with. I don't think Harris has laid hands on anyone. Well, no, I just don't. Harris does not like physical contact. Yeah. As you all go to leave, I'm not going to make you roll on it or anything. Just anybody that would care to notice would notice this. Hutch walks up to the training dummy that he was working on and kind of
00:56:46
Speaker
reassumes a stance and then rears back and literally punches the head off the dummy and then just kind of stands there for a second. So, yeah. Okay, cut two. Should I go back and fix that? No, I think we just need to let him be happy that he killed it. I should build him a better one. I got nothing against that. It needs reinforcement. I'll say this.
00:57:14
Speaker
Let him decide what's better about it. If you hit this one in the wrong place, it shocks you. Wouldn't it be less of a challenge if he knows what he's going to do? Isn't it better training if it's surprising? Isn't it a better gift if you'll use it? Was the teeth thing a problem? It wasn't great. Cut to. Boromar HQ.
00:57:43
Speaker
Milo, keystrokes sound as the Boromar HQ. 10.24 PM. Before we go in. Okay. Before we go in, Reynard, I would just please, please, for the sake of Cath, be on your better, better than your best
00:58:12
Speaker
behavior, please. Listen, I'm just coming because I have no qualms. I'm not even going to be in this meeting with you. I'm just going to stay in the lobby.
00:58:32
Speaker
sauna sorry anytime my daughter begins an answer with listen it's never good she's about not never about to go with me on it anytime my son starts to answer with a list and i tell him to start over you don't talk to people that way uh sauna who's also walking with you all
00:58:56
Speaker
kind of stops Raynard and like shoulder, like squares up Raynard's shoulders and looks at you and says, listen, you are going in the meeting with us. You are going to go in the meeting with us. And remember when you made the very dumb decision to put yourself in danger to save me when we were trying to get the thing at the gala?
00:59:24
Speaker
I need that, Reynard, for my sister right now, okay? Okay? Please? Okay, but that was in the moment. I don't know if that moment's going to present itself again. I hope it does and just sees it when it arrives. And drinks on me, Reynard, when this evening is over. Then we have a deal. If we have my sister,
00:59:52
Speaker
Yes, that's what I mean. Well, yes. Okay, let's go.
01:00:02
Speaker
So you all enter the front reception area of Boromar HQ. One of the circulating halflings working reception is behind the desk. Let's say it's Ruth is working today. And so a halfling woman with kind of a beehive haircut and reading glasses on the tip of her nose as she's looking down at a piece of parchment that she's reading as you all walk in.
01:00:33
Speaker
Ah, hello, Ruth. How about you? Oh, hello. I'm fine, Milo. What can I do for you? Well, we really would like to speak with Viggo if he is in, please. Why on earth would you want to do that? Yeah, he's in. Um.
01:00:59
Speaker
I can let him know that you're here and that you wanna talk to him. Just give me a second and I'll go back then and let him know. Very well, thank you. And Ruth gets up and walks through a door. After a couple of minutes, she walks back out and she is followed by Jason who stops in the doorway and kind of gestures for you all to come on through.
01:01:29
Speaker
All right. Milo follows with, I'm assuming, his friends. Yes, Sana is with you and she makes sure that Reynard is coming too. And he's... Okay, nevermind. He kind of steals himself against Jason. Just as he is suspicious, that's all of Jason.
01:01:54
Speaker
Okay, yeah, Jason doesn't have the most warm demeanor as is par for the course. So you all walk down a hallway, Jason passes you by and leads you all to the door of Vigo's office and then opens it and kind of silently gestures for you all to walk through that door. Hello, Vigo, how are you this day? I'm doing splendid, Milo.
01:02:24
Speaker
Just had a great lunch. I was hoping to have a few drinks, but apparently you requested some of my time. So what can I do for the three of you? I appreciate you for taking the time. He's already the worst. He's already the worst. We're one sentence in. We don't have to exclude the drinks. Well,
01:02:52
Speaker
We thought you should know, as well we've run into a bit of a problem, a large problem actually, and we felt that the clan should know. And it seems that Asana's sister Kath has been picked up by Sentinel Marshals and is being held.
01:03:17
Speaker
And we're just wondering what could we do about that? I mean, we're kind of at a loss. So, Viggo did have his feet up on his desk when you walked in and so he rocks back and his feet fall down and he walks across the office to a little
01:03:40
Speaker
bar station that he has set up, you know, with the fancy bottle of scotch and the glasses and all that stuff. And he... I think we just call that a wet bar, Eric.
01:03:51
Speaker
A wet bar has a sink, doesn't it? Yes. Oh, you're right. Yeah, that's the wet part. His doesn't have one. It's a bar cart. A stone. A bar cart. I like to think he's got one of those. Create food and water. You can only get it in sharper image. It's a globe, and you take the top off of it, and you feel really fancy, and everybody else is like, what? I get a shelf.
01:04:17
Speaker
Apologies, you know what? No, no apologies for me to have one of those. That's gonna be cut. It's okay. Occasionally it's okay to harass the listener. We get told what we do wrong all the time. Here's something you're doing wrong. Put your stupid globe bar away. You're not Jaws. Honestly, I understand you cutting that, but I think it could be a real fun thing if I get like one of those in arms. I think you shouldn't. Yeah.
01:04:47
Speaker
one rant. Can that be spread around? Can each of us have a rant in charge? Only if it's a humorous rant about inconsequential bullshit like I specialize in. Well I would hope it would all be that. I mean we are playing D&D. Yes.
01:05:07
Speaker
So yeah, Viggo begins pouring a brown liquor of some kind into four glasses, Reynard, as you probably are pleased to see. They're all for him. And then he just starts chugging all of them. Sets them all down in front of himself. Under his breath, he just kind of turns to the sun and is like, I don't know why you all don't like him.
01:05:31
Speaker
Wait, does Jason not get a drink? Are there not five people in the room? Jason stayed outside the office. He shut the door and stayed outside. So, Viggo, as he's doing this business of pouring the drinks, says, well, what did Kath do? What kind of trouble did she get herself into? They say she was obstructing justice. Okay.
01:06:02
Speaker
Which is kind of our job description, if you think about it. Exactly. I mean, the plan can offer some kind of assistance, but what you all do on your own time, I mean, when not your babysitter, so... Well, it was during a job. And Kath is an integral part of our little group.
01:06:28
Speaker
He walks over with a glass and hands it to Reynard. Which job, Reynard? Thank you. The train job. Yes, do you remember the train job? I believe that was the first job you sent us on. Yeah, the train job. I think that was the first time that I was involved directly in sending you all out. So what happened? Why did Sentinel Marshes get involved? I wasn't aware that that happened.
01:06:56
Speaker
Well, we don't really know. I'm assuming you all wouldn't have told, like, let's take a step back. Would you all have basically made that a part of your report that Sentinel Marshals attacked you and you had to fight them off on top of the train? I'm assuming not. Well, now we can not say anything about the top of a train. Well, no, this is not ego talking. Why not? That was the part where we sounded the most awesome.
01:07:25
Speaker
Yeah, I guess like would you all have divulged essentially that personal business got involved in a job? I seem to recall when we came back that we just told him that we ran into some trouble that the job got done. Okay. Because our interpretation of him was that he just, all he cares about is we got it done. Yeah. That was my assumption. I just wanted to make sure. Yeah.
01:07:51
Speaker
Um, so yeah, he's, so, uh, I wasn't, I, I know that you said you ran into some trouble, but, uh, I didn't realize that House Dennith got involved in the job. Yes. It seems while we, while we were there that we just, we ran across a couple of, of Sentinel Marshals and I mean, what else could we do? You know, I mean, they were trying to build in our business and we had a job to do.
01:08:22
Speaker
And at this point, Vigo offers a glass to you, Milo. Thank you. And offers one to Sana. Sana shoots it back. She is kind of in a bad way. And he, Vigo walks back around his desk and he's doing this. He says, well, I mean, enlighten me because either what you're telling me is you,
01:08:53
Speaker
For some reason, attacked Sentinel Marshals and that caused the trouble. Or, for some reason, the Sentinel Marshals wanted to get involved in your business. And Sentinel Marshals have a very specific kind of business that they conduct, so enlighten me. What happened? Just walk me through it. I want to know the whole situation so I can provide the most help to you all.
01:09:16
Speaker
Of course you do. Oh man, putting Milo and Rainard in a bind. I don't know about putting Rainard in a bind, putting Milo in a bind. Well, as we were trying to conduct the job, we thought we would utilize the roof of the train.
01:09:44
Speaker
And it just so happens that outside in between the cars, there were two Sentinel modules that saw us and obviously they assumed we were up to no good and then it just led from there. Okay, give me a hard deception check
01:10:12
Speaker
Um, would you like to spend a story point to upgrade? I certainly would like to use my talent to do so. Oh, okay. Wait, which talent is that? Um, because remember, brilliant casting is just when you're casting a spell. Oh yeah, nevermind. It's, it's, yep. But you can still use it to upgrade your check. Yes, I would like to do that.
01:10:38
Speaker
And I just don't worry about changing the story points, because I am going to, in kind, because a despair would be interesting. So, it's- Is it a deception? Yes, so it's a one red, two purple difficulty with my upgrade, and then upgrading one of yours. One red, two purple. And you know what? You're providing a good amount of detail, so go ahead and have a boost die.
01:11:06
Speaker
Thank you. For having a complete story. Oh. Yes. No. How boring. One success, two advantage. Okay, so yeah. Randy is very happy. What would you like to do? Oh, this might affect the amount of advantage you get. So go and roll. Why did you have two boost die? You told me to add one, I thought, because of my eloquent story. Yeah, but you rolled two. And the story slant. I flipped the story point.
01:11:37
Speaker
That changes one of your greens to a yellow. Oh. So can I just roll a yellow then? Roll a yellow because both greens are blank and we'll just remove one success, one advantage. Well actually no, I was going to say roll another boost because you had one from Hob. So both of those are in play. But yeah, go and roll a yellow.
01:12:01
Speaker
Of course, of course. Two success, two advantage, and a triumph. So dope. Okay, so Vigo believes you. You have two success and a triumph to spend. Gang, I'm all ears. Let's go and do the advantage first. So two advantage, you can get a moderate,
01:12:25
Speaker
advantage either in this conversation or just in the session in general. So. Oh gosh. I would like to think of the meeting later somehow. Okay. But not knowing. I mean, they're not just going to want to give Cath up, I know.
01:12:48
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, that would be too much for one triumph. My thought was that they would be a little more easy to get along with, but... I think me and Jeff are about to say the same thing. Go, Jeff. Okay. Okay. This might be too big. They would never drop the bounty on Hob. They can't on Sonic, or Cath, because they have her in custody. What if Viggo calls Satan, Satan calls someone, and Milo Eris and Raynard's bounties are canceled?
01:13:18
Speaker
Okay, that's for the triumph. That's the triumph. Okay, we were talking about the two advantage. Oh, I apologize. No, yeah, that's for the advantage. Yeah. I was thinking I wasn't listening because I was thinking about the triumph. I'm working on it. No, you're good. You're good. Go ahead, bud. I'm sorry.
01:13:36
Speaker
I have a triumph suggestion as well, so. Okay, let's do the advantage first real quick. So something for the meeting later on. To advantage, you do have Hutch coming. So you could... You're not gonna want any form of backup from Vigo, because he would send Jason, and that is certainly not an advantageous addition for you all.
01:14:06
Speaker
Um, so how is going to go home and he's going to take a long look at the way he's been acting, um, and get some help. Uh, and, um, come back, uh, chastened, humbled and on his, and on his way to offer us a very sincere apology. He's going to be hit by a bus.
01:14:31
Speaker
Yeah. Can't we just have him decide that his real calling is to be a jazz musician and just be a failure at that for the rest of his life? So, yeah, two advantage for the meeting later on. It could be, I mean, once again, like even with the two advantage, it's a moderate thing, but you all can define something about the meeting. You could dictate something that would, you don't have to know what the landscape of the meeting is to dictate something that's gonna be true about it.
01:15:01
Speaker
Um, well, I'm just going to throw this out there. And I don't know what it's for, but w which, which of those things it's worth, but we could dictate that they do in fact, bring cath. Well, that's what I was going to say next. I hadn't thought of that, but yeah, as soon as, as soon as he said, dicks at all the meeting, yeah, they bring cath. Um, maybe it would at least put smash and grab on the way on the, on the table. Okay.
01:15:29
Speaker
I will allow that for the two advantage because if you all take full advantage of it, then there are, it's not just a slam dunk for you all. It's presenting an interesting choice. So yes, for the two advantage, you can say they will bring Cath to the meeting. Now the triumph. Um, so they're Randy's advantage. Randy, is that what you want to do with them? Yeah. Yeah. No, that's fine.
01:15:52
Speaker
Okay, so one option that Jeff presented is taking care of the bounties out on everybody else, essentially, through Vigo and Satan's connections. Randy, did you have another idea for the triumph? I kind of like that. I mean, unless anybody else has any other ideas.
01:16:15
Speaker
I was gonna say just cancel all the bounties, but you know. I was gonna say they just give us Cath. Just, no. Story done, okay. No, yeah, I'm fine with the triumph being that. Phil, didn't you have one? What if... I say this because I can't help taking on some of Eris' qualities and I'm feeling vindictive.
01:16:42
Speaker
What if Satan's calls aren't about getting the bounty canceled on us? What if Satan's calls reveal that these two Dinnith punks were using house resources to carry out a personal vendetta over their little punk brother's embarrassment? We just lied to Viggo about it.
01:17:08
Speaker
Yeah, but I mean, Satan's gonna find out all the truth, guys, I mean. Yeah. If this moves up the chain of command, that lie is not gonna stand. That is an interesting one, given the nature of the landscape of the rest of the adventure. That could be the thing, but it's not gonna have the
01:17:36
Speaker
result that you think it will, essentially. And so I don't want you to feel like the triumph was neutered, for lack of a better term. So given the layout of House Dennith and Sharn, it wouldn't have the teeth that you hope it would. So just being transparent with you.
01:17:56
Speaker
But I do like it. Just the rest of the adventure doesn't work if... I don't like it enough to break my game. Okay, fine. Whatever. Selfish? I mean... So yeah, we could do the...
01:18:18
Speaker
the bounty thing. I'm willing to break my game for two triumphs. If you ever roll two triumphs on a single roll, then yeah, break my game. This is bending it. I ascend to godlike status.
01:18:31
Speaker
Um, Phillips noting that down to triumphs equals break game. Um, uh, okay. So, so yeah. Um, Milo or, uh, Vigo and by extension, Satan, um, can make some calls to, to get the bounties on, on you all taken care of.
01:18:50
Speaker
Like Philip pointed out, they'll probably, or at least Satan will probably find out when he asks to absolve all of your bounties, why Hobbs can't be absolved. But, um, yeah, I mean, it's, this is Sharn, everybody's pissed off somebody in a house. So, um, I, Satan's not going to blow up on you for it. So anyway, yes, that can be the, uh, the triumph.
01:19:20
Speaker
Okay. Um, so Vigo kind of sits forward and says, okay. Um, yeah, I mean, I.
01:19:31
Speaker
Obviously, the clan is not the biggest fan of the houses that step on our turf. And House Deneth certainly sometimes has some overlap. So we'll make some calls with some contacts and see what we can do about the bounties on your all's head, trying to get those absolved. You mentioned that there were bounties on your heads, right?
01:19:59
Speaker
Yes. Or did you not? Okay. I think so. You can now. Yeah. We'll just say that that got brought up in case it didn't before, because once again, triumph. We'll see what we can do about the bounties on your all's heads, because the last thing we need are Sentinel Marshals showing up every time you all go out for a job disrupting our business.
01:20:24
Speaker
So we'll get that taken care of, we'll get that squared away, so you won't have to deal with that in the future. And in terms of tonight, I don't know what we can do in terms of dealing with the cat situation directly, but we can try to make some calls or we'll do what we can, but I don't know what that's gonna be.
01:20:50
Speaker
That's all we can ask, and we certainly appreciate it. Okay, well, anything else? I believe that is it. All right. Once again, thank you for your time, Vigo. Yes, thank you. I'm gonna go get day drunk. Bye. And Vigo gestures for the door for you all to leave.
01:21:16
Speaker
I like that he distinguishes its day drunk as though it would make it, as though he has the mindset that drinking in the day is fundamentally different than drinking in the evening. Reynard, we may have found you a drinking buddy, other than me. I don't know why you all don't like him. Someone that might be able to keep up. You all don't want now?
01:21:38
Speaker
uh so yeah anyway um presumably you all it's it's early afternoon at this point like i said we started this in the morning so you have some hours to burn before the meet-up uh so anything else that you all want to do in preparation for the meet-up tonight steroids um okay yeah i guess just take another run of getting that fish on the wall
01:22:08
Speaker
You know, I think that Hobb is going to ask Sigil if they want to have a quick conversation. All right, is this like Back at the Forest Sales or on the way, like affairs? I mean, sure, Back at the Forest Sales is fine or heading back to pick up Milo and Rainard or something. Okay, yeah. Milo's just going to go about his day job. I'm assuming that's what he would be doing.
01:22:36
Speaker
Okay. Um, so yeah, we'll say once we get back to the for sales, Hob, you can pull Sigil aside. Uh, yeah, what's, what's up? Sigil, um, you don't have to come tonight. There's a chance it's going to turn violent and. Thank you. That's,
01:22:58
Speaker
Not your thing. And I just, since we're all involved and it's about hopefully getting Cath back, I don't want you to feel any pressure to be there tonight. In fact, I think it'd be great. If you do some work, call today early and go meet with your friend at the armory.
01:23:23
Speaker
Maybe. I went with you all, so the things that I was hoping to accomplish today didn't get done. So that would set me behind, but you can make a check if you like, Jeff, to try and get through to Sigil. Go ahead. It will be an average check, so two purple, but add a setback die since Sigil is kind of rambling in in their head right now. Yeah, sure. This feels like charm, right? Yeah.
01:23:53
Speaker
which is a bummer cause I suck at charm, but it's certainly not negotiation and it's all absolutely not coercion. Uh, you said you offer him, if you offer him like a cookie or something, then it'll be like, I wish I could make him see the benefit I'm offering him of chilling the heck out for a day or for a minute. Um, I was going to say you could pay for his drinks, but nope. Yeah. Uh, two purple in a setback. He said, yes. Yes.
01:24:23
Speaker
One success, one threat. Hey! Look at you. He's going to have a night for themselves there, friend. So yeah, you succeed for the threat. Go ahead and take a pointy strain. You're starting to get kind of concerned about Sigil, but they stop their kind of stream of consciousness for a moment. It's like, I know you're right.
01:24:54
Speaker
I'm just... I'm worried, Hob. The things I'm discovering about us, I... I don't know. I... Sigil, I understand. And I want you to know that it's not lost on me that your work's not selfish. You're not doing this for you or to satisfy your own curiosity. You're doing this because
01:25:24
Speaker
You've noticed something that I don't understand that greatly concerns you for all of us, and I appreciate that. But if you go too far on any one thing, you're going to lose sight of why you're doing it. Getting you out today with us, showing how we work as a team, showing how we work together, even when we're arguing, all of these things, I just wanted to remind you that
01:25:52
Speaker
your world is necessarily bigger than these charts. And you gotta be a part of it or you're... I don't know how to say I'm afraid this work is gonna ruin you because I want you to keep doing the work. I'm glad you're taking a night off. And tomorrow, if I'm here, let me know how I can help.
01:26:23
Speaker
And so, yeah, Sigil resigns themselves to go socialize for a night.
01:26:33
Speaker
thoroughly defining Sigil as an introvert. In my head, they're gonna do that thing that I do where I dread doing a social interaction until the second I walk into the door of the social interaction, I'm like, oh yeah, this rules, I forgot. Okay, so anything else, any other business that anybody wants to take care of before the evening? I guess whenever Hobb comes back out,
01:27:00
Speaker
of where he was talking with Sigil. Eris is on Tasha and she has affixed a small though I guess life-sized so it's not small it's inherently small but it's life-sized metal intricately designed metal Falcon
01:27:28
Speaker
Uh, onto the, uh, oh, boat terminology. Um, opposite of the prowls, the prowls in the front. I want the helm. No, that's the, the very back. The stern stern. Back. Oh, everybody knows back.
01:27:56
Speaker
and is just carefully bolting it in place, or fixing the claws in place, and there's your coming out. It could to me that when we have to, inevitably when we have to bolt, I can't take,
01:28:21
Speaker
this out of, this won't fly out of shine or I'll lose the manifest zone and it'll just, it won't work so well. So I needed something to take Tasha with us. And so I think I've got something to, she'll, she can ride along in this. So I think I have everything that I can't,
01:28:49
Speaker
uh do it out in case it goes bad tonight um is he gonna go bad tonight i don't think it's gonna go easy but i believe it'll be all right when are we gonna get the word about the bounties not until the meeting probably
01:29:16
Speaker
Probably not, because I'd love to be able to tell Iris, hey, I heard something. If even then, I would, you know, because they're not going to be motivated to tell us. Unless they're mad. And then you had your boss call our dad, or uncle, or whatever. Not cool, man. Not cool.
01:29:34
Speaker
So the sun sets over the towers of Sharn. As darkness falls, not that you all can really tell from your vantage point in

Preparing for the Showdown

01:29:43
Speaker
the lower districts of the city, but you know that the time has come to meet up at the four sails and load up into Tasha. You know that Hutch will be arriving around the same time that you all intend to, to provide a certain level of support.
01:30:01
Speaker
And yeah, you all load up into Tasha and take off towards the meeting point in Middle Dura. End of episode. Thank you all so much for listening.
