Discovering the Decani forge

You all see what appears to be a very rudimentary artwork of like

And once you reach a certain point, it opens up and you realize you are in the midst of a ancient decani forge that is powered by this lava that's flowing through it. There's actually a lot of waterfall falling down. It's very cool. And so anyway, everybody give me perception checks.

Battle with skittering horrors begins

It's some sort of apparatus. There's what looks to be where there would have been a crank that's broken off or fallen away due to time.

But the mechanism looking at it seems like it's some kind of grinder. And in the center of it, around all these gears and kind of rough stone, there's what appears to be like almost a deposit. That's the exact shape and dimensions of the stone in your ribbon weave.
