Introduction to Eberron Renewed
00:00:09
Speaker
D20 radio, your game is roll.
00:00:26
Speaker
Hello and welcome to Eberron Renewed, a D&D 5th edition actual play podcast set in the Eberron campaign setting. I am your dungeon master, Eric. And I'm 50% of the party, Philip. And I'm Randy. I'm Jeff. And welcome to another episode of Eberron Renewed. Gentlemen, what happened last time?
Recap of Past Adventures
00:00:43
Speaker
We fought some elementals. And some tigers. Some of the tigers we fought.
00:00:50
Speaker
Some are friends. That's right. Jeff, what happened last time for you, bud? Dex is just not whole anymore. Dex made a decision that he was willing to look for the cure to lycanthropy, and it turns out the cure was inside Varric the whole time.
00:01:12
Speaker
Philip regrets telling you ahead of time that I could cast that. I would have really enjoyed you also learning that I could do that. Yeah. I mean, honestly, I hated it. Like, it was it was the right choice for the character. But Jeff, the player just really was bummed about it. That's not why I did the whole. Well, wait, can't we just wait for that? Because that's I think Barrick would have done that. But man, it's a bummer.
00:01:38
Speaker
OK, so we are still in the jungle traveling with two tiger scouts.
Jungle Journey with Tiger Scouts
00:01:44
Speaker
So we're going to keep on trucking. We got a great big gun led by two tigers. I should have I should have been allowed to roll for my new strength just to see what happened. That would have been funny. Of course, then I could have got an eight to say you might have regretted that or a seven. OK, everyone give me perception checks.
00:02:08
Speaker
21. 17. Dracure 13. Barric. Seven. The Tigers both got a 21. Okay. Dex and the Tigers. Well, okay. I'll address the Tigers first. The Tigers stop
00:02:29
Speaker
next to Drakir and look back over their shoulder and look at you and begin running away. Dex, you feel the ground start to shake below your feet. Oh, and I start running away. You all feel some vibrations, but you hear a noise of trees breaking and the tigers are running.
00:02:51
Speaker
I have no idea what that is. And so Dex says, well, clearly they know something's up and I don't know. You guys feel that, right? Do I know what? Do I have an idea of what that is as trickier? Give me a knowledge and nature check for this part of the jungle. Not a great role. Let me see my modifiers. No, I do not. I do not know what that sound is. I rolled a seven. Can I, however, tell
00:03:20
Speaker
the direction it's coming from. From behind you and it's big. Okay. I recommend that we run laterally so that we're not running away from it. Not away from it, but it will pass us. Okay. So here it takes off probably in the diving. I assume the tigers also would just bolt. It takes off in the direction of the tigers off the path.
00:03:47
Speaker
um to the side hoping that whatever it is will run on past and hide okay um let me give it a
00:03:59
Speaker
Okay. You all begin running. Everyone take note, put a three plus your constitution modifier.
Chase Mechanics Explained
00:04:08
Speaker
Wait, put it what? Just write down somewhere just so you can keep track. Okay. That is the number of dash actions you have for this chase sequence that we are about to undergo. Now the way this works, you have that number of dashes.
00:04:24
Speaker
But you can take an additional dash after you've run out of that, but you have to make a constitution saving throw. If you fail, you earn a level of exhaustion. You can also attack or cast spells, but obviously you can still move, but you can't take the dash action. You all hear a roar as you break away from the path. Actually, you hear a couple of different distinct roars.
Tyrannosaurus Encounter
00:04:50
Speaker
Everyone give me a knowledge nature check to see if you recognize the roar.
00:04:55
Speaker
12, 15 for Barrick. You're drinking a rolled poorly. Where there is 21. 21. I rolled a 20. Dex, inexplicably, your ears perk up and you know that you are being pursued by at least two Tyrannosaurus Rexes. I really OK. Are those animals?
00:05:20
Speaker
They're beasts. Well, I'll look trickier, get that dino DNA. I mean, I tell them, I say, guys, I don't think Dex knows Tyrannosaurus Rex, but he says, he says thunder lizards. Thunder lizards, yeah. I say, guys, these are big old lizards chasing after us.
00:05:42
Speaker
Although I guess if they're real T-Rexes, he would say these big old birds running much more horizontally than was previously assumed. Can I ride that? So, um, we need to roll initiative. See what order we act in for the chase. Yes, you can ride it. 31. Okay. 24. 15 for jakir. 20 for Barrick. Do you want me to roll for the tigers or just assume that they're running?
00:06:09
Speaker
Yeah, they can run with trickier. OK, I'm assuming there are no other actions they will take, so they will probably just continue to run. OK, Dex, you are up first. I move. You dash. I'm going to dash away. OK, so you take off, go ahead and roll a D20 for me. That's a three. Three?
00:06:35
Speaker
Okay. All right. You, you take a turn around a tree and there's just a cloud of mosquitoes that you run through. So they get to make an opportunity attack against you. Oh, the mosquitoes. Oh, okay. Oh man, we are so dead. 18. Yeah, it hits. It does swarm damage. Nine damage.
00:06:59
Speaker
They got a lot of blood and now, oh, well they would have been all were bears, but, um, show it off. Lycanthropy spread by mosquito. Yeah. Great. Um, Booyah. Booyah is going to dash and he is looking for something small enough and safe enough that he could maybe crawl into and hide. Well, if you're using dash, then you're just sprinting. If you don't dash, then you can search around for somewhere to hide.
00:07:26
Speaker
Well, let's, let's go ahead and dash one roll the 20 19.
00:07:34
Speaker
nothing happens. You're able to just sprint. You see decks swatting away at things flying all over him. Um, it is now barracks turn. How far are away are the, um, are the Tyrannosaurus? You still haven't seen them yet. You just know because of the sound of their roar. Okay. Well, I really don't have anything to do that I can do to them. Well, I can't see them. So that being the case, I, uh, I will just dash. Okay.
00:08:03
Speaker
The twenty. Twenty. OK. And now here, here. I would like to run along, but he would also like to. Parkour his way up into the trees and go tree to tree instead of along the ground. OK, so make an acrobatics check and then you can just move your normal distance instead of a dash. That's not terrible. Thirteen.
00:08:32
Speaker
13, um, I'm going to say that you were able to get up in the trees, but you were only able to get up there with, uh, you expended 10 feet of your movement than normal, um, trying to get up the tree. So, okay. Okay. D 20, 14, 14. I'm not adding anything to this right now.
00:08:54
Speaker
OK, and then the T-Rexes, they use their dash action to run up on you. And Drakir, you can now see the trees breaking away and parting as the T-Rexes get closer. You still don't have a good line of sight on them, but you are now firmly at the back of the group.
00:09:12
Speaker
All right. Each of you can now, if you want at the end of each round, everybody can make a stealth check to try and hide. But if only some of you succeed, then the other ones are going to have to split away from the party to keep going. Yeah, let's do it. So you don't have to hide if you succeed, but. Well, well, here is going to hide your role at 20. Dex also got a 20.
00:09:42
Speaker
Eric has a 22 19. Okay. It sounds like we hide, um, tigers as well. Okay. Uh, they have a plus six. So that's excellent. Uh, 15 and 16. The tigers do not succeed, but everyone else does. Okay. Well, the tigers can keep running. Okay.
00:10:07
Speaker
Yeah, F the tigers. Dex thinks in his mind. You all find hidey holes and brush and things like that to hide away in and the tigers distract the T-Rexes. As you see, five Tyrannosaurus Rexes lumber past you through the jungle. I kind of figure tigers being maneuverable are probably in a better chance of getting away from these things than we are. So, yeah, you're here. We'll just release the spell on the tigers and let them just bolt.
00:10:38
Speaker
Okay. All right. So everything quiets down a bit. I mean, Dex is willing to give a reasonable amount of time. You hear the sound start to fade as the stomping gets quieter and quieter. What's the collective noun for Tyrannosaurus? I don't know if that's Google-able. A hatch.
00:11:07
Speaker
Okay, so... Do you hear drops out of his tree? I can't believe I didn't say hold on to your butts at any point during that... Must go faster, must... Ah, we missed all of them! I've decided not to endorse your jungle. So have I.
00:11:27
Speaker
Okay, so you all can take back on the trail and down towards the temple. Give me a survival check trick here to make sure that you keep on the straight and narrow, especially now that you've been taken off the path, finding the trail again. 24.
Debate: Follow Soldiers to the Temple?
00:11:43
Speaker
researchers who decided, discovered that T-Rex is a hunted in packs, got to choose the name of a color. It's a terror. A terror of Tyrannosaurus. A terror of Tyrannosaurus. Tyrannosaurus. Tyrannosaurus, I think.
00:11:58
Speaker
Yeah. I think you dropped the... The us. Yeah. When it's plural, it dropped the us. Okay, so you all keep on tricking. Makes for a great radio when nothing happens. Percentile die. You all begin to smell... Probably. We've been in a jungle for a while. Fire and brimstone. Ah. You're getting close. We've been in this room for a long time, so...
00:12:26
Speaker
Okay, everyone give me perception checks. 16. 23. 16 for Dracure. 16 for Bear. In the moments when we were listening to the dinosaurs run away, we had a second. I consumed a health potion because I am low and I can't remember now what it is. Is it 1d6? 2d4 plus 2. 2d4. Still not great. Still technically bloody.
00:12:53
Speaker
Oh, so Booyah sees his new friend bleeding over there and walks up to him, touches you on the side, mumbles a few words. And you get six.
00:13:18
Speaker
Nine points back. All right. Just on this side of. OK, you all. Who? Twenty three. Is that what you got? Twenty one. Fudge doesn't make a difference. I think it was twenty three. But what is sixteens? OK, so Dex, you hear footsteps coming up upon you, not large footsteps, just normal everyday run of the mill footsteps.
00:13:48
Speaker
What do you do? I am in a position where I can speak quietly and they can all hear me, right? Yeah. Right. And they're coming from behind us. No, they're actually kind of converging up ahead. Uh, Phyllis, somebody's coming, coming this way on this path. We should get out of sight. Okay. All right. Everyone gave me stealth checks. Uh, Barrick. Well, so we're, we're under the canopy. So there's dim light and shadow around Barrick. We'll just step into the shadow of a tree and melt into it.
00:14:19
Speaker
Good for him. Okay. I will... That's an 18. 21. 21. Only a 14 for your gear, actually. It's that shiny hair.
00:14:44
Speaker
There was a poor roll on my part. So you all are able to hide as you see a group up ahead of fairly well armed soldiers, it looks like. But you all see that I'll just carry over the perception check from before.
00:15:05
Speaker
You can see that they are wearing tabards that Beric and Dex would immediately find familiar with a green hand on a white face and the tabards are green. And I'm wearing bird masks. No. I was wondering a bird mask. I have a feeling it's on. Yeah. There would be some unmelting happening.
00:15:29
Speaker
Uh, okay. I mean, Dex is tempted to anyway, but he's not going to. He, he, he sneezes though, just to see if they don't notice they can move on. Not really. Not really. No, not really. Um, they're, they're headed towards the temple. It looks like they're headed in the same direction you need to go. Oh, okay.
00:15:51
Speaker
Well, do we follow them? I mean, we're going to have to. They're going the direction we're going. Nobody. I mean, do we deliberately follow them? I trick here probably doesn't move. There's not any reason to attack this group. How about how about a group we're talking about? There's three of them. OK.
00:16:10
Speaker
Drakir doesn't particularly see any reason to attack this group, and probably in Drakir's mind he's thinking, oh good, there are fire giants. These will go and they will be killed by the fire giants, which I, so maybe they will kill a giant. Or they will steal something from the fire giants and come back out and then we can kill them and take what they stole.
00:16:29
Speaker
Dex was honestly thinking, worst case scenario, we find out that the Giants are really, they don't like trans passers from these guys, and we'll be okay. Like that's ridiculous. Or they're all in cahoots, and Barak's just, you know, those guys are mostly harmless right now, so whatever. Okay, Dex is also thinking, if we let them start a fight with the Giants, and we come in and fight with the Giants against them,
00:16:55
Speaker
So do we realize how close we are to this place? We like, we can smell it. Yeah, you can smell it. So yeah. Yeah. Okay. So when we come out of hiding, Booyah, I would say Booyah make shadow. We hide, we walk, hide. Can you make shadows? We can see through. Yes. Well, that's better. Yeah. Booyah make shadow. Basically it's passed without trace. Okay. Okay. I don't know why barracks asking. He can see through magical darkness now.
00:17:25
Speaker
Barry can do so many things. I can't do jack nothing anymore. Warlock sorcerer. It gives us a plus 10 bonus to stealth checks. Okay. Sweet. And it lasts for an hour.
00:17:39
Speaker
Um, so I like to think of this ability, given your, your specialization, the, the subclass that you took, um, Booyah's abilities are predicated on being able to draw from the various planes to create this. So you're able to draw a little bit, a little bit of a bar in here. He takes out one of his little component pouch. You see him pull out a little sprig of spruce and some ashes. I remember spruce.
00:18:09
Speaker
this to call upon you killed him. Awesome. Okay. So yeah, shadow descends on all of you. Um, and you're able to walk.
Stealth and Scouting at the Temple
00:18:21
Speaker
Um, after a few minutes of walking, you see the trees begin to, uh, thin out and then probably about
00:18:33
Speaker
300 feet out from where the trees stop and it's just clearing, you see an extremely large gate that is guarding even larger walls that are hundreds of feet high. The gate is in disrepair. It's not it's not keeping anybody out, but you do see smoke rising from the ruins.
00:19:01
Speaker
And the people that you saw walking down the trail, you see them entering the gate just as you reach the edge of the clearing. How long does this last? One hour. I feel like Dex says, as we got time, we can all stick around in this shadow and really look around the place. I can perhaps take a look around before we go in.
00:19:31
Speaker
What can you get some? Yeah, you were in the jungle. Can I find a bird? Yeah. I cast animal friendship on him. A little sparrow tweets at you. All right. Then I cast beast bond, allowing me to see through his eyes and cause him to fly over the walls. Give me a perception check through his eyes just to see what you see.
00:20:08
Speaker
I've rolled a natural one. Okay. Just an arrow and arrow shoots the bird out of the air. That. Dragon. I come up. I'm just kidding.
00:20:28
Speaker
That was disappointing. So, uh, I ask again, we want to just stay in this shot. And I know, Barrick, before you died, you could turn invisible. Is that something you want to do or do we want to go stick together? Uh, it seems we should probably stick together if there are fire giants in there. I like, I like the way you're thinking. How big is this shadow? Well,
00:20:57
Speaker
Or is it not a manifestation? It's just, we're all, it says for the duration, each creature you choose within 30 feet of you has a plus 10 bonus to dexterity stealth checks. Can't be tracked except by magical means. And we leave no footprints, no tracks or other traces of our passage. Okay. So does that mean they have to stay within 30 feet of Booyah? Yes. Yeah.
00:21:23
Speaker
So there you go. All right. That's still a pretty good amount of space. Yeah. Let's, let's get closer. Let's go in. I mean, I think let's go in. Yeah. Yep. Okay. In we go. So you head towards the gate and, um,
00:21:40
Speaker
You the the smell is just getting more and more pungent. Your eyes begin to water from just this. Sulfuric smell that's permeating your your nostrils. Everyone give me perception checks as you enter through. Twenty one twenty. Twenty six for Berwick. Fifteen four or sixteen for just passive.
00:22:07
Speaker
OK, you all spot the Emerald Claw guys that you saw enter going in through a doorway. They seem to be moving stealthily as well. And you also begin to hear the rumblings of footprints down. It's kind of like a little courtyard with two streets going off of either side. And so you see the Emerald Claw to the right going into a building.
00:22:33
Speaker
and the street to the left goes down and then turns a corner. You hear footsteps from around that corner headed your way. All of them sound like big footsteps. Yes. Okay. I mean, you hear him going fee five. We could try to go for the door where they went in. Yeah. There are other doors available. There are three doors, one straight ahead, one to the left and then one to the right that they went through. Okay. Do we, it's been a while since we had that conversation. Did, did we get anything?
00:23:03
Speaker
That would indicate to us. Where to look. Well, you know that these things were primarily used in a military fashion, so an armory, something like that would probably be a good place to look since here has probably rated giant ruins before also real quick. I'm sorry. Also, because you get the sense that they were prized weapons and rare
00:23:33
Speaker
burial grounds would also be probably fitting. So does your career would be to be able to have an idea of the layout of the typical giant settlement? Yeah, generally the army was kept armory was kept near the back and the burial places were typically closer to the front for people to pay reverence easier. So yeah. Do any of the buildings near us look like burial sites?
00:24:02
Speaker
You know that burial sites are typically underground. Do any of them have stairs leading down? Well, the doors in front of you and to the left are shut. So they're rotting, but it looks like nobody's gone in them a while. How about the door of the Emerald Claw went through? That door looks a little bit fresher, but it opened towards you so you can't really see in it unless you went over there.
00:24:23
Speaker
Shoot. Doors no one's been through for a while. Great questions though. I also appreciated them. Doors no one's been through for a while. I mean, it depends. I don't know, do fire giants have a sense of history? Would they want to go and visit the burial sites of their ancestors? Giants do, but I do not know who the original occupants here are. These giants may only be used as a temporary shelter.
00:24:53
Speaker
All right, okay, I see what you're saying. Yeah, just cuz they're fire giants now doesn't mean that who built it, right? I did not know the architecture Certainly, I don't either. I thought you're gonna say I do not know the architect. It was like, well, yep All right, um, I studied architect community college I mean, do you guys want to y'all have about 10 seconds before that giant rounds of quarters?
00:25:18
Speaker
Let's go in a door. Left or right? Or middle. Which one are the closest to? The middle one. Middle. Middle door. It's locked. No. Okay. So you rush into this giant sized door. We slam into it. What do you mean you dick? You're just saying you don't have any fun to do. You're a rogue. You can pick locks.
00:25:39
Speaker
That's true. The door is right enough to where you're actually able to slide in through some crumbled wood near the bottom of the door, just as the giant rounds the corner.
00:25:54
Speaker
It's dark in here. Those of you with dark vision, you never had dark vision, though, to be fair. That's not a weird thing. We've got to get you some goggles or something. Seems like such an obvious thing we would need to obtain. I need some flier glasses. There's got to be goggles of night or something in storm reach. Right. It's got to be a common enough problem.
00:26:18
Speaker
You see that this appears to be a giant sized, almost, there's a large counter with a few desks around. Everyone give me investigation checks. Just see if you can piece together what? Disadvantage? What? So am I at disadvantage? There's light pouring into the door for now. Okay. 15.
00:26:43
Speaker
14 natural. The giant fight. You all can't really get a good idea of what this room was utilized for. There is a door leading out the back and then a door to your right. I don't want to go too deep into this. Dex
00:27:06
Speaker
Well, Dex doesn't do Jack because he can't see. Dex says, uh, when he all fellas want to go to each of these doors, just see if there's stairs heading down. Does it, is it ridiculous to say that this very plain clerical looking room does not look like the entrance to a giant burial chamber? That is fair. Um, does that stretch and can I make a history check?
00:27:36
Speaker
Sure. Okay. Everyone can make history checks if you want.
00:27:41
Speaker
Twenty two for Beric. Fifteen. Deck doesn't remember breakfast. Um, Drakir, you. Beric. Beric. Beric, you recall in your studies in Thrain at the church about the ancient giant empires that generally speaking, the Giants were very protective of their knowledge and their wealth, especially towards the end of their empire when they knew they were losing the fight.
00:28:10
Speaker
So they would a lot of times do, I'm trying to think of the right word, that's escaping counterfeit burial sites. And the actual ones that only certain people knew about would be hidden away in unlikely places. Let's check those doors. That's what I just said. Before all these monkey shines was rolling dice. When I said it had the weight of authority behind it.
00:28:42
Speaker
All right. Well, you guys go check the doors. All right. Does Booyah have Darkvision? OK. Did I pick like the only race that doesn't have Darkvision? Orcs don't do they? Or half Orcs do. Yeah. Oh, well then. Oh, yeah. Fair enough. Humans don't. Right. Yeah. And you're you're it tracks your your posing as a human. Yeah. So which door do you want to check Booyah? Back or right?
00:29:11
Speaker
Back door. Okay. Um, it is actually locked. Barrick. I will check the other door. That door opens into what appears to be a old supply closet, maybe, or just a very tiny room that the giants would go stand in. There's nothing in it. So you don't know. It's time out closet. All right. Booyah. Booyah walks over to Dex. Tugs on him. Door lock. You come. Booyah no open. You come.
00:29:42
Speaker
Is this the first time you've picked a lot? This is the first time I've picked a lot. Yeah. I don't even know what to use. Regular light will not cripple the cure. Just daylight. Okay. Yeah, I knew that. I just didn't want to be waving light around until I had to. That made total sense. You have tools? Yeah, I got, I got these tools. Okay. Roll dexterity with a plus three because you have these tools and you're proficient with them.
Exploring Ruins and Unlocking Secrets
00:30:04
Speaker
So I do a regular dexterity roll and then plus three, just plus three. Not proficiency. 20.
00:30:11
Speaker
20. You put your like new lock pick in. Guys, I just picked these up. Are these doors human sized? No, you're actually having to reach up and have an angle with it. But because you rolled so well, you hear a couple of clicks.
00:30:36
Speaker
And then you are able to turn the handle on the door and it swings in. And so you're kind of hanging on it a bit. Actually, you know, I know I'm not not that bad because I just grows. I'm nine feet tall now. That's as tall as I can get. Right. Is it eight or nine? I think eight. It's I mean, it's the upper. It's probably still fine. Yeah. It's the highest point in a medium class care. I think that's eight. Eight. So I'm eight feet tall. So I'm OK. I'm like Ferris opening a door. I'm not.
00:31:06
Speaker
Still adorable, just not impossible. Okay, so it is pitch black in here. You actually kind of get a back draft of dust as the door opens for the first time in quite a while. And you find yourselves in a dark hallway.
00:31:23
Speaker
Rick here looks in. What do we see? You see a hallway going down about 20 feet and then breaking to the right. You do see faint light coming from further down the hallway like coming from the right side. Here we'll try to sneak down and look around the other way before I want to.
00:31:49
Speaker
Do an investigation check for traps. Oh, good call. Can I do it down the whole 20 feet or do I have to separate it out? You can do it for the whole 20 feet, 20 foot stretch ahead of you. Well. Do you have a light source going? Oh yeah, I do a wand. You're right, that roll doesn't count. I'm just kidding, I won't really. Yes, I have my wand and that was a 16.
00:32:20
Speaker
16? Yes, 16 investigation. For traps. This is a disturbingly long silence. I know. And my stealth checks are- What was your investigation? Sorry, one more time? 16. 16. I guess all of our stealth checks are baller right now, huh? Yeah. Because it's not- It's not- It's not just a saving, it's stealth checks. Yeah. Yeah. The lowest I could do is an 18.
00:32:53
Speaker
Okay, so narratively the way I'm going to say this happens just because of the order of events and how they were described to me. Drakir takes off down the hallway and Dex you look and spot something and run up just in time to extend your arm in front of Drakir as poison dart shoot out of holes in the wall and stick in the wall and fall down on the ground and you see poison dripping off the tips.
00:33:20
Speaker
And I say, see how you can do that without using a blade? I stopped you in your tracks without a knife at your throat. Ah, yes. But you did not think I might try to kill you. I'm still not sure. Burned it out on that one, pal. At the moment. Is that the only one I saw? Or do I need? That's the only one that you saw in this hallway. Give another shot. I will then continue to creep down. I'm gonna go down with him.
00:33:45
Speaker
I'm following, making sure we stay in my little zone. There's only 20 feet, right? So we would stay within your zone by going 30 feet. But the hallway, the hallway. Okay. So we would be close enough. Everyone give me self checks. Not all go down this hallway.
00:34:05
Speaker
whole lot and a whole lot over 20 on accounts. 28. 21. Okay. You all around the corner, just head on head on head as you poke around and you see 31 for Drew here for the record. You see a doorway at the very end of the hallway that is open

a doorway on the left side of the hallway about 10 feet before you reach the end. And on the opposite side of the hallway facing that door, a chair with a fire giant in it asleep. I think I back away slowly down the hall. You can't see you.
00:34:48
Speaker
No, he can't. Here's the thing. Are they going to guard a burial site? Maybe you see a large ring of keys hanging from his belt. How did they? How did they? I should have gone mage hand. How did they?
00:35:03
Speaker
How do you get in here if these doors have never been used? It's all connected. He might have come in from a different point. Yeah. It's all connected, man. Well, that's why I'm wondering if it's all connected. If we don't need to back out and go into a different... I cast Charm Giant. I don't have spells, but I do that. Maybe we distract and you pick lock on door. We don't know the door's locked, do we? Well, we check door, block.
00:35:34
Speaker
You pick luck, we... Maybe giant go see noise down the hall, I don't know. I am unconscious. That really is an automatic crit. Yeah. The giant is about 20 feet away from you down the hall. Both Barak and Drakir are technically also capable of talking to him. I don't know. Will ya talk to giant? I mean, do we want to start leaving corpses? Well... Yeah, that's a good point. I guess we could drag him into that little closet.
00:36:03
Speaker
Maybe you sneak up trickier. Open door. We go in. You change Ling. Yes. Drow. These are relevant to what I'm about to suggest. Become a drow. All right. But you don't want to speak giant. I do not look the right way. I've been through the quiz.
00:36:30
Speaker
Wait, no, okay. Yeah. Do all Drow speak Giant? Or is it just pretty prevalent? There's a tribe of Drow that serve the Giants. Booyah might have the appropriate robes in his bag, you know?
00:36:58
Speaker
Yeah. And he might not. He might not. He might have something that will be helpful, but I still couldn't speak. Right. But I mean, if we could find the appropriate garb trick here, could it trick here or, or Barrett could pull it off. I see.
Magical Surprises and Stealth Tactics
00:37:15
Speaker
I didn't see any art game master. I know he just wants Booyah to dig in his bag. I gave it to you for a reason. Uh, I mean, yeah, we could try to liberate the keys. We could just try to sneak past and getting through the door.
00:37:28
Speaker
Well, okay. Here's, here's what we should do. The three of us should set up ready to attack him. You should sneak down and see if you can get the door or the keys, whichever you prefer. See if you can do the sneaking and we'll set up where we can hit him. And if he, if he wakes and
00:37:56
Speaker
He's going to attack you. Then we'll go. All right. Okay. But opens his bag and he rummages around and he's going to see what he might find in his bag, his wonderful bag of nifty tricks. Okay. And he reaches in, rummages around and pulls out maybe a bag of randomness. Turn, turn, turn. Let me see what Booyah have.
00:38:24
Speaker
We always have something good. You pull out a tent that has writing on the door of it that says, do not enter devourer. You pulled out a tent of devouring. OK, a giant sized tent of devouring. I'm going to say sure. Like you could throw it on this thing.
00:38:55
Speaker
You want to bull y'all throw a tent? Eat giant. Okay. Here's what. Here's what Dex suggests. He said, uh, I'm going to go after those keys. If I get them, we're going to haul balls away. And you let that tent, I suppose, chow down. I lost the voice.
00:39:18
Speaker
Yeah, here's the thing. You're not going to carry that tent around now you pulled it out, are you? Can you put it back in the bag? You can fold it up and put it back in. Will we still have an access to it?
00:39:29
Speaker
Not immediately. When I roll again, how small can we fold it? Can I put it in a pocket? No, I mean, we need a real bag of holding. Yeah. We just established it's a giant size tent. So even rolled up, it's going to be cumbersome. Booyah is basically dragging it down the hallway at this point. Yeah. So how are we going to throw it on the giant teamwork? Yeah. Three of us. Oh, he gets the keys. Go over the keys. Okay. Stealth check.
00:39:57
Speaker
To what degree is he tall enough to reach the keys? I mean, this giant sitting, so he's pleasure. Tall isn't making sure trickier can cast levitate, but I didn't. Okay. But if it's not necessary, then I won't. That's a 15, 22, 32, 32. The giant continues to snore. Go ahead and make a slight of hand check. Yeah. Here's where it's going to get dicey. It's dexterity. It's always dicey. It's D and D.
00:40:28
Speaker
Yeah. Twenty four. Hey, nice. You succeed. So I jingle. I got the key. So, yeah, you're able to make it back down the hallway with the keys. Well, do I need to go back down the hallway or are we going through one of those doors? We're going to we're going to. Are you all going to make stealth checks in to join him down the hallway? We still got the plus ten. Yes. Yes. And yes.
00:40:57
Speaker
Drakir has rolled a natural 20, which would make his total check 37. 31? Hufadufa. Barak has rolled a natural 17. And Drakir phases through the door. You all succeed. Making Barak's check 33. Okay, so you all are one with the hallway, and the hallway is one with you. I didn't need to roll another one, did I? I'm already down there. No, you're already down there.
00:41:22
Speaker
So you're able to reach up and insert the key into the door. First one doesn't work. Second one doesn't work. You turn it and open it. And all you see is a.
Meeting Prince Orgev and Cliffhanger
00:41:36
Speaker
This room is lit with a couple of torches and you see a a pin almost by giant standard. So a cage for a human.
00:41:48
Speaker
And you see a figure sitting in a chair with his hands and legs bound and a bag over his head Interesting All right, so Dex says you think this is one of those green green claw guys and that's who that's what they were looking for his clothes and
00:42:11
Speaker
There's no green hands anywhere. They they seem like travelers gear, but pretty nice little worn. But on the upper scale, Eddie Bauer sort of like, you know, it's Alice Martin. Maybe, uh, it's maybe an explorer. I just say, Sam, what? Because it looks and says.
00:42:40
Speaker
I don't sit down. Let's go. Yeah. He might know. He might be a help. Yeah. He may know where, where the bear. He came here. He must know something. Oh, uh, I shut the door behind us, by the way.
00:42:56
Speaker
Fair. Let's, uh, we should, and we, and we set the 10 up just outside. Just inside the, yeah. So if the giant, yeah, or whomever we're all here, I don't care about those green guys, whoever walks in this door next gets devoured. Once he sets it up, can I use my finger to replace the word devourer with food? Sure. Because devourer too larger.
00:43:25
Speaker
Okay. So, uh, the cage door is locked. So you would need to pick the lock only. We had a road. I know, man. Gosh, we had a bear to eat through those bars. Right. No, I say, uh, Dex is a, Hey buddy. Hey, can you hear me? Stay calm. Who, who is there?
00:43:51
Speaker
Well, why didn't you answer that first? Who should know? I was shushing the guy. I didn't want him to go, okay. I'm sorry. You, you have a very familiar voice, but, um, wait, who me? Yes. Um, I dunno, this guy sounds exactly like Elodrin. So.
00:44:15
Speaker
Yeah, he sounds a lot like a few people. It's Eric's deep-throated nobleman voice. You also have a very familiar voice, but it's a pattern around here. Oh. Oh. Eric's got a sad face on. I have an aristocratic voice, too. This is my aristocratic voice. Whenever I introduce an aristocratic character, he talks like this. My talk like this. I'm a high roller. We are Rangers. Rangers are all oil barons. Yeah.
00:44:46
Speaker
Wildcatters. Sorry, proceed. I mean, sure, there's a chance that I met you in the past, but I really would like to know your name. Okay, I knew it. Dex, Dex picks the lock immediately. What are you doing here?
00:45:04
Speaker
Where's, wait, where's your bodyguard? Ah, he was not here. He was captured as well. We were taken on an expedition to scout out for a new new car. A new new car. And they brought you to Giant Ruins. Well, the Giants brought me here. Oh, I see. Well, Dex immediately picks the lock and decides he's going to kill the giant outside as soon as they leave. Well, they didn't kill him.
00:45:34
Speaker
Yeah, well, but I pick what they want with you. I'm sorry. You definitely picked a lock. Yeah. Yeah. Um, you pull the bag off and it's not. Oh, no. Um, withers. I hit him with the stick. Sorry. What were, what were the, uh, volley of questions? What are they, what do they want with you? I, they just, they stuck me in this cage and put a bag on my head and here I am. Um, this is someone you know.
00:46:06
Speaker
Hi, I'm Prince Orgev of Kaya, and you are? This. You are Outlander, this is place? Yes, this place. Yeah, I don't say that. Too soon. Nice to meet you, Trachea. I'm Orgev and he extends his bound hands out to you. How long you be here?
00:46:35
Speaker
I don't really have a good concept of time in a room without windows. I'm sorry. I assume. Long time. It feels like a long time, but if you've ever been in a dark room by yourself, a few minutes feels like a while. I lived in a dark room.
00:46:49
Speaker
I was born in the darkness. Deep in Kyber. He does not extend his bound hands because that would have been the next thing I did after I took the hood off. I got a dagger. I've used it twice. Okay. I've used it as many times as my thieves tools. But what day were you taking on? What day were you capturing on? Do you have any sense of that? I mean, we had been traveling out for
00:47:19
Speaker
I mean, uh, a couple of days. I, it's been four days since we met him. Right. It's been four days since we met you. I think Eric would actually in character check how many days it's been in the real world. I said out the day after the gala. So did we know, is that right? Yeah. I, I don't know. I,
00:47:48
Speaker
All I know, I heard some of the giants talking outside my door. And I heard them referencing Barasha, having taken him further into their settlement here, or whatever it is, because they wanted to test something on him. Oh. All right. I- Pteros' objections were thrown. To murder.
00:48:18
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Can we help me find him? Of course. Yeah. Why? End of episode. Thank you all so much for listening. Please go check us out on the social medias on Facebook, the Geek Pantheon Facebook group on Twitter and Instagram at the Geek Pantheon. What?
