Caleb Call: Welcome to the Blue vs. Red Holy War Pod. Caleb and Ben. Glad to be joining you guys again. we uh we go on preview week three, we've got some interesting news coming out this week. A couple of different things. First off, Brett McMurphy reporting about a potential.
Caleb Call: 2014 playoff that might blow up the bowl system. do you think A lot of the college football world thinks that that essentially ends a lot of like the...
Caleb Call: urgency of the regular season and thus is like a big step in ruining the sport. Do you think it's that drastic of a change or um how do you feel about 2014 playoff? seeming like an inevitability at this point
Ben Fowers: No, I think it helps the sport. I i think. before it was a kind of top tier mentality where you had to be the the elitists to be able to get into it. And so last year you saw BYU end up at 12, Utah end up at 15. final college football playoff poll. and so um Just as an instinct.
Ben Fowers: fans We would have saw both of our teams playing. um games last year and so that would have been way fun to to be able to... and as the 12 and the 15 seeds, they would have each hosted a game too.
Ben Fowers: And so that would have been, ah I mean, an extra game in Provo, extra game in Salt Lake. That would have been fun for. both sets of fans. and I think. ah just the, in general. with the 12 team expansion everyone was saying the same thing where it kind of does it watered down the regular season.
Ben Fowers: I don't think it has. I think it's probably even made it more competitive throughout.
Caleb Call: it's given us more to talk about we've been fighting for weeks on end about it the seeding and everything
Ben Fowers: so
Ben Fowers: Yeah, so I like it.
Caleb Call: I agree with that. i Again, I feel like I understand why the Blue Bloods hate it. But... One of the things that irritates me about the way the media and just people in general talk about college football.
Caleb Call: It's the one sport. where people want the best teams. to prove that they're the best the fewest amount of times on the field as possible. It's almost like people just want to skip to the championship.
Caleb Call: We saw 12 regular season games. We know nobody's going to beat Georgia or Notre Dame, make them play a championship. Don't make them go out and prove it on the playoff. I guess it's the weirdest thing to me because every other sport has a playoff where if you're the best, you got to prove it on the field over and over and over and you got to avoid an upset. And yeah, maybe.
Caleb Call: One of your best teams does get upset. That's part of playing sports is that the best team doesn't always win and and anyone's got a shot any any given day. The FCS has had the ah the 2014 playoff now for a long time, and that didn't stop teams like North Dakota State.
Caleb Call: from having a little bit of a dynasty going like if you are truly elite in your space you can still have that kind of dominance in the sport. I'm sure Alabama has still only won plenty of championships with Saban if they hit the 2014 playoff.
Caleb Call: and i think with the portal and the n nil era that we're in now The talent is spreading itself out more and more. Teams aren't able to hoard as much depth anymore, which makes everybody's frontline starters.
Caleb Call: better across the sport. And so, I mean, I think that we have seen college football adjust to a 12 team playoff to now there are. about 10 to 15 teams that probably deserve the playoff. and are relatively similar talent -wise, and I think a 2014 playoff just kind of continues to help.
Caleb Call: Spread the talent out. Get the sport in a position where you probably are going to have some upsets and not just see a couple of teams at the top dominate like they did back in the 14 playoff era.
Ben Fowers: Yeah, these first few playoffs, you've seen a lot of those lower seeds end up winning and making even the national championship. Amen. runs and so I think ah Just in general, you see... The NIL is kind of...
Ben Fowers: I felt like evened out the playing field. and
Caleb Call: Yeah.
Ben Fowers: And I kind of like it from the standpoint, I was watching a video of Mack Brown talking about the Texas -Ohio State matchup that he coached in. And he was saying like. It's an elimination game in week one. and I mean, you lose those, but I think football is such a.
Ben Fowers: an interesting sport where you got to kind of, there's so much ramp up to get to the end of the season.
Caleb Call: Yeah.
Ben Fowers: And so an elimination game in a week one for. Like in Ohio State back then, because Texas, that was the year Texas won the Natty. They beat Ohio State. and so That Ohio State team was good. and Probably like if you start playing your best ball at the end of the year.
Ben Fowers: If you lose an elimination game early when it was back in the tube. just the BCS championship game system. and you're out. And so I like it. I like you so that. I mean if you figure it out.
Ben Fowers: towards the end of the year you get hot i mean you still have to be good enough to be able to bolster the resumes that you're in. But at the same time, if you're playing if you're getting better towards the end of the season, it's gonna like any other sport, like you said, it's going to make it so you can.
Caleb Call: Yeah.
Ben Fowers: I'll have a shot to win the natty.
Caleb Call: What irritates me? I feel like. So much of our lives, we were robbed. Can you imagine? The Mountain West. that had TCU, Utah, and BYU running that conference. Could you imagine the Boise State teams out of the WAC or even the Houston and UCF and Cincinnati teams out of the American being able to compete in a 2014 playoff?
Caleb Call: Like that. We saw Boise. We saw... um tcu we saw utah go and beat some of these big dogs in the bcs polls That could have been happening in the playoff. like Who knows what kind of runs we would have had, what kind of stories we would have had.
Caleb Call: And instead. Sorry, group of five schools. You guys are... playing in your little exhibition vcs games no chance to win a championship but have fun with your One game you get to play. like i I feel like we were robbed. I would have...
Caleb Call: Love to have seen. Even a 12 -team playoff would have been enough to see what some of those teams could have done. with the chance to actually win.
Ben Fowers: Could you imagine like. as ah like As a Utah fan, the year they won the Sugar Bowl, could you imagine like beating Alabama and then going and playing? like
Caleb Call: Yep.
Ben Fowers: Ohio State or going and playing another like top team.
Caleb Call: Florida up next or Ohio State or someone, yeah.
Ben Fowers: Yeah, like it would just been so much like those those years would have just been electric and so
Caleb Call: Oh yeah.
Ben Fowers: And like you said, those. BYU had some years in the early 2000s, and Boise State had a handful where they were legit. They could have played with anybody. Bye. That Boise State team that.
Caleb Call: honestly
Ben Fowers: Well that beat Adrian Peterson in Oklahoma
Caleb Call: I think like even. Yeah, like there there are so many teams that could have had a run. And I think if there would have been a 2014 playoff, I think that the independence era for BYU. probably would have gone better.
Caleb Call: Because... Everybody kind of knew it. Once you lost a game or two, your season was kind of over. And I feel like the way that BYU recruited wasn't great in the independence era that teams were kind of lacking. But if a season where you're ranked in the top 25 means you're in the playoff,
Caleb Call: I think that that would have changed what we were playing for every year. It would have helped. And honestly, that kind of helps the whole country. You just kind of know, like. Every year there are some random teams that end up in the top 25 that you aren't expecting.
Caleb Call: If you can make it into the top 25, you're a playoff team. Like it? Really does. Expand. the sport to the point where. There are so many teams in November. that are legitimately fighting for something and i know people don't like to hear that like oh 8 -3 Nebraska versus 8 -3 Minnesota should not be a... playoff playing game in the regular season that that should be saved for the 10 -1 Michigan, 11 -0 Ohio State.
Caleb Call: The 12 -team playoff already kind of ended that and adjusted that. like The 2014 playoff. expands It's where you have a lot more teams in. I still don't love the buys. I think 16 is a great number to land on, but I'm okay with 24. I'd rather have 24 than 12. this point
Ben Fowers: I uh... I'm the same way as you. I don't... I mean, they kind of adopted a little bit of the NFL style with the bye, but.
Caleb Call: Yeah.
Ben Fowers: Um. I think I'd prefer, like you said, 16. 24 makes it so 9 through 16 seeds get a home. home field playoff game, which is kind of fun for. teams that some like wouldn't have made the playoffs last year so some of the teams that wouldn't have made the playoffs last year.
Caleb Call: Way to be cool.
Ben Fowers: Yeah.
Caleb Call: We had some more news come out this week. Western Michigan and Michigan, we got some more drama weeks after that game. The Mac went and tried to submit an appeal to the... ah FBS Rules Committee and were turned down. Essentially, they were told We can't overturn the result of a game.
Caleb Call: But...
Ben Fowers: You're right.
Caleb Call: Our refs did not follow protocol, and had they followed protocol, Western Michigan would have won the game.
Ben Fowers: my question with this is what
Caleb Call: So, obviously.
Ben Fowers: What's the point of the rules committee? like i Bye. great you're right like i i just don't understand the logic behind it like Just kind of give you a pat on the back.
Caleb Call: You guys got screwed.
Ben Fowers: Oh, you should have won.
Caleb Call: Sorry about that.
Ben Fowers: Yeah. it's Like we messed up.
Caleb Call: All right. I don't know. And honestly, like If you're the committee. If Michigan or Western Michigan. Go into the end of the year on the bubble How are you treating that game where...
Caleb Call: Michigan won. but it was admitted that they shouldn't have won. like It just. creates further complication how are people going to rank michigan michigan's Back into the AP top 25. I can't remember where they landed 20 or something um i It's complicated. I really don't know.
Caleb Call: how you handle those two teams after what happened there. And it's tough because they probably both will, at least one of them will probably end up. at least near that conversation in November.
Ben Fowers: Yeah. The thing about Michigan which makes it interesting is they got that Ohio State game. at the very end of the season. week 13 right before conference championship game and so If they beat Ohio State and you're sitting there at 10 -2.
Ben Fowers: Um... I know that the the loss kind of like makes you think it's 9 -3, but because of how big an Ohio State win would be, assuming that Ohio State. is probably sitting there they've already got one loss but
Caleb Call: Yeah.
Ben Fowers: They're sitting there 9 -2, 10 -1, probably a top 10 team at that point still. Um, I think that probably beats them in anyways. So because of how big the last game of the season is for Michigan, I don't think it's going to affect things too much, but it is kind of an interesting aspect.
Caleb Call: I think so.
Ben Fowers: to Wow. There's like a 10 -2 team.
Caleb Call: It'll be interesting to monitor.
Ben Fowers: Is 10 -2 team considered a 9 -3 team in the committee's eyes? or or vice versa so
Caleb Call: Yeah.
Caleb Call: As far as the state of Utah is concerned, we got some... Throwback matchups this week. BYU and Utah both coming in 2 -0. Both ranked. um 11 and 17 in the ap poll Utah's hosting.
Caleb Call: this battle of the brothers against utah state this week haven't played a ton since i really haven't played a ton in our lifetime they've played off and on and uh utah state did win one in salt lake i think back in 2012 but outside of that Might not have won another one in our lifetime.
Caleb Call: What are you expecting here from the Utes against the Aggies?
Ben Fowers: Yeah, I kind of just expect them to. dominate the game. i i mean you lose to Utah State loses to Idaho State. and then um Then they give a ranked Washington.
Ben Fowers: like Matt again, but Washington kind of struggled with Washington state the week before. So they were ranked, but it's like, how good is Washington actually? um So I i expect Utah to kind of control the minus scrimmage.
Ben Fowers: Amen. Kind of take care of business here. So I I don't expect anything anything crazy or anything I think I said this in our first episode, but. Utah played at their worst game of the season last year against Utah State.
Ben Fowers: And... still win the game. And so it's one of those ones where I think they could play a bad game and still. Come away with that. a multiple score win.
Caleb Call: Yeah.
Caleb Call: Bronco, Robert and I, Nick Howell, they got all the familiarity in the world with the Utes, played them a ton while they were all coaching at BYU. And one thing about those games, it's kind of funny. So Bronco and Kyle Whittingham.
Caleb Call: they play 10, 11 times. Bronco and Witt. We're about 500 against it. I think Bronco is actually three and two against Witt as head coaches. when they were in the same conference And then once Utah went to the Pac -12 and BYU went independent, that's where the winning streak started for Utah. They won from 2010 until Bronco left in 2015.
Caleb Call: the talent gap Bronco is never able to overcome. And... ended up falling behind in the rivalry due to that. And...
Ben Fowers: I have that.
Caleb Call: Yup.
Ben Fowers: yeah i it was uh i have it right here it's three and two to start and then 0 and 5 to end his career so he ended up
Caleb Call: Yeah.
Ben Fowers: Broncos 3 -7 against the Utes. and Um,
Caleb Call: Yeah. And this is continuing that trend of.
Ben Fowers: with a five -game losing streak.
Caleb Call: him having a talent gap at his disadvantage. His Utah State team is nowhere near as good as the Utah team. They did show some glimpses against Washington. they might be able to have a couple of Good plays, good drives here and there. But like you said, I just.
Caleb Call: Utah. blowing out Arkansas the way they did. I have a hard time seeing Utah State do much better than Arkansas did there. i If you're a Utah State fan. And honestly, a lot of Utah State fans are also kind of Utah fans. I know we know a few of those ourselves. And so who knows if they'll be watching and paying attention much to this game. But I don't think there's going to be much for the Aggies to cheer for. I don't think that they're going to have an answer on defense to slow down the offense. I think Dampier, Wayshon, and...
Caleb Call: bird will all be Running free as much as they want to
Ben Fowers: I agree. I just – I think Utah's going to be too much for – offensively, I think they're going to be too much for Utah State's defense. Even though they – Looked okay last week.
Caleb Call: Yeah. And then for BYU. BYU is going to Fort Collins against Colorado State. First time these guys have played since 2010 when they were back in the...
Caleb Call: Mountain West together I honestly kind of like the matchup in general. Now that won a power conference it is I don't know if strange is the word but it's it's more uncommon to go to a g5 team And I don't mind that BYU is doing it. We went to uh ecu last year we went to wyoming the year before then and i think having a road game early in the year where you're a big favorite, but you still get to go and challenge yourself on the road.
Caleb Call: I don't think that's too bad of a thing to have a team go and do before they play a road game against a team. that's actually good enough to beat you and so Yeah, even though BYU is going to It's opened at 20 .5 and is down to 17 .5. Be reasonable. Pretty big favorite out in... Fort Collins. I think Colorado State's good enough to...
Caleb Call: give BYU some fits. Their quarterback, Henry, explosive runner and thrower. He's got nine touchdowns on the year. he had a Crazy rushing touchdown against Southern Utah.
Caleb Call: The running back's talented as well. They're getting a lot of chunk plays on offense. And it wouldn't shock me if that's about what their offense looks like against BYU. It's kind of boom or bust. They'll probably have a few big plays.
Caleb Call: and get shut down three and out pretty quick on a lot of other drives. against Southern Utah. And I might butcher this guy here, but but they had three or four carries that were over 40 yards.
Caleb Call: and outside of those few carries They were under three yards a carry the rest of the game on all other carries. So really their running game at least was boom or bust. Quarterbacks are on a bunch of touchdowns, though.
Caleb Call: I think Colorado State probably will score about what Arizona scored into the teens, maybe higher if they have a good day. We'll see. But their defense. was not Good against Southern Utah. Gave up points.
Caleb Call: gave up yards. Honestly, if BYU punts more than... one or two times in this game. You probably don't love your offensive performance in this one. um In general, I think BYU should come away with the win here, but I do think Colorado State, unlike Utah State, probably does at least have the talent.
Caleb Call: To give BYU a scare if things go their way.
Ben Fowers: Yeah. I mean, in the Mountain West era, BYU ended on a seven -game win streak against Colorado State in the... early 2000s and so it's been It's been about. 25 years.
Ben Fowers: not quite 25 years since COVID.
Caleb Call: 2003 was the last time Colorado State won, and it was a blowout.
Ben Fowers: Go out. So 23 years ago.
Caleb Call: Damn.
Ben Fowers: And. So. I was kind of surprised when I was looking at the line earlier today that it had gone down to 17 and a half. I kind of seemed like that was small. I don't know if you got any insight on. Is there? like anybody injured or I was kind of. surprised how close it was.
Caleb Call: No injuries as far as I can tell I think the public's kind of Thinking that Colorado State can score, I think there's just people kind of falling in love with the quarterback and thought the line might have been too big, and so just kind of an adjustment from there.
Caleb Call: No injuries on the BYU side. Of course, it's not a conference game, so we're not going to get an official injury report. but Nothing to be aware of. Cialia Serra got hurt in the Arizona game. He probably won't play, but really outside of that, there's nothing new.
Ben Fowers: Which game was it? Was it Mola that got hurt?
Caleb Call: Moa got hurt. Which honestly, I don't think... That changes BYU at all.
Ben Fowers: Would change the line at all, yeah.
Caleb Call: There's Moa. They did lose Raider to Moon.
Ben Fowers: He's the only one. Yeah.
Caleb Call: Raider Damuni is going to miss probably most of the year. that it There are some people optimistic that he could be back even as early as... Notre Dame game. But he'll miss a lot of the season at safety. We've got Tommy Prasses, who has lots of experience filling in.
Caleb Call: and then Cannon DeVries had a great game against Arizona. We'll see if he can keep. staying on the field as well. But yeah, we've had a couple of injuries, but nothing that's going to change this season yet. Frater to Mooney Hurts is, you know, this.
Caleb Call: starting safety as senior, but... Hopefully he's back and we at least had a nice piece to go fill in behind him.
Ben Fowers: It'll be interesting to see. 17 .5 seems like a... a low line so I'm curious to see I assume BYU can go cover that.
Caleb Call: yeah
Caleb Call: And part of that too, I feel like. against me. teams that BYU has overmatched, or not overmatched, where they overmatched the opponent. BYU really just does not run up the scoreboard.
Caleb Call: Once BYU gets a 3 or 4 score lead, They are running the clock out. Backups are going in on defense and probably giving up a score here or there too. Like we saw it against Wyoming a couple years back.
Caleb Call: That final score ended up being within a couple of scores. We saw it with ECU last year. Final score was 34 -13. Led in a late touchdown to get that game looking closer, too. And granted, ECU did play with BYU for a long time in that game.
Caleb Call: And I feel like with Colorado State, I'll probably would just be more of the same. where BYU might control it. They might be up. 24 -3 at some point in the game. But if that's the case, we're probably running the ball all the entire second half. and At some point, Colorado State might get a touchdown here. They'll play some drives against our backups if the game gets out of hand. and So who knows? Rarely does Kalani...
Caleb Call: I... We see Utah smash teams, and they will. step on the throat For some reason, that's just not who BYU is. They keep the offense calm, cool, and collected. and I think that might partially be the reason.
Ben Fowers: Then... the The funny thing about Utah running up the score, though, is a lot of the time it's just chunk runs. like They still are just handing them off.
Caleb Call: Yeah.
Ben Fowers: but They just break away runs. and so it's not i don't It's not like they're out there. spreading it out, chucking it down the field.
Caleb Call: Yeah.
Ben Fowers: and so I think it's just recently, the last two years, it's been a really explosive running game, and so that's caused those scores to go up. Because before that, it really wasn't a whole lot of running that score up. It was kind of just...
Ben Fowers: similar like physical, defensive. Shorten the game type of thing with wit. But. The last year, Whit was here with the Beck offense.
Caleb Call: Yeah.
Ben Fowers: and Now with McGivens, it's it's a kind of more of an explosive offensive. rushing attack so that ah That makes for... When Utah's scoring on the... In the fourth quarter on those guys it it does help uh have this the stats a little bit.
Caleb Call: Yeah, for sure. As far as... the road trip to Fort Collins goes, I think BYU. Probably the 17 .5 I think feels about right. I came away guessing a score of...
Caleb Call: 41 to 17. Would not be shocked at all. if ah touchdown swings either their way, 34 -17 or 41 -24. I think Colorado State's going to score. I think the question is just going to be how much they score. I feel like BYU probably gets about... to 35 to 45 range on ah offense. and We'll see. I'm excited for this one, though. It is a throwback matchup. If you're going to play a G5 game, I love playing a local, like a regional rival like Colorado State that we have some history with.
Caleb Call: much prefer a game like this versus going two time zones away to ecu like we did last year so Like having this one on the schedule. Looking forward to the matchup. and Honestly, the fact that Colorado State has an explosive quarterback and running back, I feel like is...
Caleb Call: all the better for us to be able to prepare against before we go and play some of these big 12 teams that are going to have the same.
Ben Fowers: I uh...
Caleb Call: As far as the... Big 12 goes, we got a big matchup. Friday night, probably the night you're listening to this. Texas Tech in Houston. Both of them have an FCS win and an Oregon State win.
Caleb Call: Both Oregon State games looked similar. And Tech at home finds himself as a seven and a half point favorite. which is a lot smaller of a line than this was preseason.
Caleb Call: Do you think that the seven and a half, do you think that feels about right? And do you think Texas Tech should feel nervous at all hosting Houston?
Ben Fowers: Yeah, I think they should feel very nervous. They ah haven't finished drives as much as they... probably have hoped to when they Went through the offseason with the quarterback Ugh.
Ben Fowers: I don't know if controversy is the right thing, right way to go about it. But offensively, they just.
Caleb Call: controversy for sure.
Ben Fowers: Yeah offensively they just haven't looked They haven't just finished the has haven finished drives the first two games. earth. And so I. I think it's one where Houston... ah Seven and a half almost feels.
Ben Fowers: a little big to me i can i mean Both the Oregon State games were one score going into the fourth quarter and they both kind of had to... finish the fourth quarter out. the to win against Oregon state. And so I think this is a game where. you think easily walk in and Go make it a game. and Kind of make it a fun one late.
Caleb Call: I think so too. I think that the first two weeks of the season have showed us. Why Texas Tech fought like hell to keep Soaresby in town. I think that they really were relying on.
Caleb Call: better quarterback play than Will Hammond. And they got kind of desperate right before the season and when added. Tommy Castellanos. He's already playing two weeks into the year. He's not starting, but he's getting reps.
Caleb Call: and I think that this Texas Tech offense, they're going to have to find. ways to like you said finish drives They have not been a great red zone team so far. love kicking field goals, and that's not going to...
Caleb Call: lead you to a playoff if you do that all year long. Houston with Willie Fritz. They are more than good enough to go walk into Lubbock and get a win in this game. Willie Fritz is a great big -game head coach. I feel like...
Caleb Call: Every year he wins a game or two that you're not expecting. Last year we saw he he beat both the Arizona schools in games where they were underdogs. And the year before that, they upset a good...
Caleb Call: Kansas State team with Avery Johnson and upset Utah too. Granted, Utah ended it up being... 5 and 17 but still ah Willie Furtz is a coach that I. trust more than almost any other in the Big 12 for a game like this, and I think Houston probably is coming into this feeling like they should win this game.
Ben Fowers: I mean, if they're just watching the tape from last week, Texas Tech down 24 -21. Six and a half minutes left in the fourth quarter in the game. And so down three before Texas Tech scores a touchdown there. They get the ball back and score again to win by 11.
Ben Fowers: It's a... It's one where Oregon State almost pulled off the game last week. So Houston's definitely there.
Caleb Call: They really did.
Ben Fowers: They think they can do it. They're going to go in expecting to do it. and so it'll be I think it'll be a fun one tomorrow night.
Caleb Call: Connor Wegman, where would you have him slotted as far as Big 12 quarterbacks go?
Ben Fowers: I would probably rank him behind the Utah quarterbacks. and Um, Um...
Ben Fowers: I probably, I like Wegman. Probably maybe three. Right right behind Bear and Dampier.
Caleb Call: I have Fofita, too. I don't think Fofita is... Any worse than Wegman. But he is an upper -tier quarterback. He's experienced. I think this is his sixth or seventh year in college now.
Caleb Call: Been around the block. He's started in plenty of games. Houston has the quarterback advantage from what we've seen so far. There's reason to believe that their defense. i Don't know if it's any better than text but at the very least should be comparable they uh didn't spend what tech did in the ah portal with nil but They still have a good roster on defense, always. tough to score on.
Caleb Call: One thing I think will be interesting to see. against both teams. Oregon State. was very explosive on offense. chunk plays, long passes. And I honestly don't. think that Houston or Texas Tech, either one of them, have the same capability of having a bunch of explosive passing plays.
Caleb Call: And so I'll be curious to see if... what Atkinson... did to expose both defenses if either offense could take advantage of that. Because if both of these offenses are having to drive for 10 to 15 plays to score.
Caleb Call: This game might end up being a low -scoring game because I don't know if either offense is going to have a huge advantage. over the opposing defense.
Ben Fowers: yeah Which I think if you make a low scoring tight game, I think that probably gives the advantage to Houston. so I think that's the type of game Houston wants to get into. They want to keep this game. Kind of.
Ben Fowers: Titan. We'll see if they can.
Caleb Call: Nah.
Ben Fowers: ah Hello. Pull out the win.
Caleb Call: We kind of teased it last week, talking about of this game as potentially a Big 12. conference championship elimination game Do you think it's fair to say that or is that too early to call at this point?
Ben Fowers: I think it's fair to say that just because of the Like Texas Tech like if Texas Tech were to play BYU in Utah or either one of the two I think they could get them way back into it, but Right now, it's like they don't control.
Ben Fowers: like This is their one marquee. top tier matchup. And so you gotta, you gotta take care of those when you play them. If you don't have a lot, that's. That's the one downside to the big conferences now is the 16 -team conference and the... Big 12, you've got an 18 -team conference, and the Big 10, the 16 -team, the SEC. Not all the teams play each other, and so sometimes the top teams don't play, and you've got...
Ben Fowers: At the end of the year, the second, third, and fourth teams only have one loss in conferences. Now. because of the tiebreakers or so whatever they are. Like last year you had Duke backdoor their way into the ACC title and win the ACC title and not even make the playoff. And so it's just.
Ben Fowers: Right now, ah you you have to. like the The big marquee matchups, the Texas Tech -Houston games, you've got to take care of those if you want to. You want a shot? I mean, it's not an i wouldn't I wouldn't go out and say it's at an elimination game, but you don't control your own destiny by any means.
Ben Fowers: Because one loss, you can get in with one. loss but right now if you got one loss and the loser of BYU -Texas could it also have one loss. or sorry the The loser of BYU and Utah could also have one loss.
Ben Fowers: And the other one could be undefeated in conference and they could lose the tiebreaker very easily after taking care of business. So it's just you don't control your own destiny if you if you drop a game like this to Houston.
Caleb Call: yeah
Ben Fowers: Because now you've got to win a tiebreaker against Houston, even though you lost to them. So you need them to lose twice. and then you also Got to get lucky against the BYU -Utah loser. And so I just think.
Caleb Call: And even there's a world where Kansas State, they don't play Tech, BYU, or Utah.
Ben Fowers: it
Caleb Call: So you can even have a wild card like the Wildcats.
Ben Fowers: Exactly.
Caleb Call: have potential to cause some chaos there.
Ben Fowers: So that's five teams right there.
Caleb Call: I feel like. Yeah.
Ben Fowers: that you're talking about. that Texas Tech doesn't even. I mean, besides Houston doesn't play. so You to lose to Houston, now you're 0 -1 in the big five of the conference. And so I think it is a must win for Tech. and so We'll see if they come to play.
Caleb Call: I'm excited for it. Like you said Do you lose this one and you already don't control your own destiny? Your season's in trouble. And so we we saw it last week. Arizona loses to BYU.
Caleb Call: They do not control their own destiny anymore. But... One difference for Arizona. They do play Texas Tech and they do play Utah. So if they can get things figured out. They do have a way to play themselves in.
Caleb Call: But with Texas Tech like you said they don't have that option. So this really I feel like is a must -win for Texas Tech. And there is... Last year, they were killing teams. And all the talk was about how much they spent in the portal. and so ah The narrative was already set for them to be a playoff team, even with the one loss. They lost to ASU. Even if they had lost the Big 12 championship game, they were going to be an at -large team at 11 -2.
Caleb Call: i don't know if they're gonna have the same luxury this year even though they started ranked high If they're not blowing teams out, they're not going to get the same respect. People are already talking about how they don't look the same as last year. The narrative is kind of going the other way, where it feels like an 11 -2 Texas Tech.
Caleb Call: with a really weak schedule, at least how it appears to be two weeks into the season. they may not get the same benefit of the doubt that they got last year. so you might If Texas Tech loses this game, they might have to win out or at least win the Big 12 to make the playoffs.
Caleb Call: Probably one of the... Two or three biggest games in the Big 12, and we're playing it on a Friday night in week three. I can't wait for this one. I'm excited. The Saturday slate, we've got some fun ones. I'll run through a couple and we can um discuss here and there what we want to.
Caleb Call: Um, see from these teams. Tulane and Kansas State. Kansas State has a chance to get revenge. Colin Klein was the OC when they lost to Tulane a couple years back. 17 -10, really ugly game.
Caleb Call: You've got Kansas and ASU playing in London. Week three really weird scheduling for this game. Don't understand why we're doing it, but we're doing it in London West Virginia, UVA. UVA has looked awesome to start the season.
Caleb Call: Then you've got Colorado Northwestern. A bunch of fun games on Saturday. None that feel like they're going to be super consequential for the conference championship race or for like a playoff race. But nonetheless, a bunch of fun games against some decent opponents and a chance for some of these Big 12 teams to prove themselves. What are you watching for on Saturday?
Ben Fowers: I'm really curious to see how West Virginia does against Virginia. i guess West Virginia, you hope, took a step forward last season. So I think this is a big game. because Hiya! Virginia, I've got as one of my most underrated AP Top 25 teams. They're ranked right at 25.
Ben Fowers: They went and dominated NC State in that opener. I just think they kind of haven't gotten really much respect, and so I think they're probably more of a mid -team. or a mid -teen type of team. and So I think if West Virginia can go play with them, I think that'll tell you a lot about West Virginia this year and where they're at. So that's the biggest one I'm looking forward to. and And also that Tulane, it'll be interesting to see the Tulane -Kansas State game. i That would have been a really fun one even last year to see it.
Ben Fowers: um but I, uh, yeah, I... I think this year Kansas State is going to be too much to... for Tulane to handle with their new coach. and new pretty much new roster coming in so i think kansas state kind of takes care of that in manhattan
Caleb Call: I hope Kansas State's able to. they uh I feel like playing a team like Tulane. It's kind of a fun G5 game to see one of your upper end teams play. Because if Kansas State wants to compete for the Big 12 championship.
Caleb Call: This is probably a game where they need to look – I don't know if dominance is the word, but they need to outplay Tulane and not have this be a close game in the fourth quarter. That's not going to have anyone feeling great about their chances the rest of the way. And honestly, it would make the conference look bad if they struggled with Tulane and went and won the conference.
Caleb Call: It reminds me of... Back to you. to 2023 when Oklahoma State lost 33 -7 to South Alabama in out of conference play. and then made the conference championship. They lost to Texas then to win the conference, but still.
Caleb Call: a team that lost by 26 to an average Sunbelt team, played in the Big 12 championship game. You don't want to see anything like that from Kansas State this week. It's a big game. Colin Klein, he I don't know if you saw the press conference, but somebody asked if he was revenge -minded, and it was just a quick, simple, like, oh, yeah.
Caleb Call: Of course we are. And so. I'm sure that law stung, and I'm sure that Kansas State's going to be ready to go out there. Avery Johnson threw a couple of picks against Washington State. You can survive it against a team like Washington State. You can probably survive it against a team like Tulane. but You want to see Avery clean that up before we get to conference play. So I'm excited to see their offense against Tulane.
Caleb Call: West Virginia, Virginia, you said it. Virginia's underrated. Anyone that follows me on Twitter, you saw I had Virginia ranked 14th. They were an 11 -1 team last year. Already killed NC State. They look explosive on offense. and great and stout on defense. If West Virginia can play with them.
Caleb Call: You've got to start. If West Virginia wins that game. They're putting the conference on notice though. Rich Rod Era is back. They could be anywhere from a 7 -9 win team, maybe even better. Be a great start to their year if they can pull this one off. but One of the things I can't wait to see.
Caleb Call: You got two teams rebounding. from SEC blowout losses. Playing in London these games across the... pond have been ugly and destroyed the loser's seasons almost every year they've been played, mostly the Dublin games.
Caleb Call: so Kansas and ASU, they're trying to shake off. Ugly loss to Missouri and an ugly loss to Texas A and &M. Kansas was playing about even with Missouri for about half the game, and then the second half they really fell apart.
Caleb Call: And then ASU was kind of a similar – they were outplaying Texas A &M. And then.
Ben Fowers: for three quarters
Caleb Call: turnovers pick sixes yeah through three quarters and so I think ASU is probably the better team here against Kansas, but these are two teams trying to... turn their season around already here in week three. and You don't want to start on one of the standings. that especially if you're ASU who probably feels like they have the talent to compete for a conference title this year.
Caleb Call: You can't go out there and lose to Kansas in London. And then come back to the States and... Feel good about your chances to compete in the Big 12
Ben Fowers: Yeah, I was shocked. To be honest, that this is only five and a half points for Arizona State. I got Arizona State by a lot in this one. i think Arizona State, you play you have them play with Texas A and &M. for three quarters and Really. It blew up because of two defensive touchdowns for A and &M. And so it ended up being fourth quarter was 24 -0 for Texas A and &M. And besides that, you had a one -score game through three. and kansas just
Ben Fowers: uh i isaiah marshall man he was just brutal and so i i just can't I don't think I'll ever be able to pick Kansas in a game the rest of the year because of him unless they change quarterbacks.
Ben Fowers: so
Caleb Call: But the question is, which quarterback's going to turn it over the least amount of times?
Ben Fowers: Aya.
Caleb Call: The over -under for quarterback turnovers in this game might be like five and a half. with a Cutter Boley against Texas A and &M was handing that ball away every chance he had.
Ben Fowers: Over.
Ben Fowers: If it was like last week, it's hit and it's hammering me over. So I. I got Arizona State. I think Arizona State takes care of business. I don't think Kansas has got enough. on offense too.
Ben Fowers: um to go put up a... enough points to go in this game.
Caleb Call: Yeah, I agree The last game I had my eye on, mentioned her earlier, Colorado Northwestern. Colorado, props to them. Only team in the conference to schedule two.
Caleb Call: power four conference teams in the out of conference now neither of them are great but you played georgia tech on the road and you're going to northwestern on the road Neither of those are gimmies. You already beat Georgia Tech where you were a pretty big underdog and now Northwestern I'm not sure what the spread is on this game, but I imagine
Ben Fowers: three I think I saw it was three for Northwestern.
Caleb Call: Yeah, as I was going to say, I imagine Carl is a slim dog out there. If Colorado can win this game and win two. games against two different power conferences. That'd be a huge start to the season for Dion. Honestly.
Caleb Call: We were talking about how Deion, this is a kind of a hot seat season for him after only winning three or four games last year. And to start 3 -0 with two power conference wins. you'd be feeling pretty good about their chances to at the very least make a bowl game in.
Caleb Call: Have a decent year in the Big 12. I don't think I'm ready to call them a contender if they beat Northwestern. But. Starting 3 -0 with a couple of decent wins in the conference, that has you feeling pretty good if you're a Colorado fan. and Might have them.
Caleb Call: Feeling that they can go and beat – they got Utah and Texas Tech both in the first half of their season. If Colorado can win this game and looks competent on ah offense, which they did not against Georgia Tech.
Caleb Call: If you're Utah and Texas Tech. That's a game that you can't sleepwalk through. I mean, Colorado has shown that they have. at least on defense, stepped up a ton from what they looked like last year. what What do you think of Colorado winning? does for for them the rest of the way.
Ben Fowers: Yeah, I think it just keeps them in. in the thick of things and keeps the morale up. going through their kind of gauntlet of a schedule. I was looking at it earlier. and You've got. Texas Tech at Utah.
Ben Fowers: back to back games. And then you got Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Houston. all in a row right after the Texas Tech -Utah. suit
Caleb Call: They really might have the toughest conference schedule this year.
Ben Fowers: Those are, that's a five. Yeah. And then they even have Baylor who didn't look bad against Auburn right before all that. And so that's a pretty tough six -game stretch. We're...
Ben Fowers: Really, you could... I argue two and four might be a pretty good. um If you went two and four in that stretch, you'd probably... would overachieve if you're colorado so i don't know i think I think this 3 -0 start would just make it so I think there are...
Ben Fowers: bowl eligible ah contenders and I think they're just gonna be. Kind of fighting for that X. Go go find the fourth win somewhere. Go find the fifth win somewhere. and then down the stretch of the season, you might be able to find a.
Ben Fowers: find the sixth one and get to a bowl game. And so I think. this is I think you're not making a bowl game if you lose this game, so they got to go. go on the road here. and um Go figure it out and go win this game.
Ben Fowers: Because if you go start 3 -0, I'm...
Caleb Call: m
Ben Fowers: Maybe you go. ah roll into Baylor and go pull off an upset in Baylor too. so
Caleb Call: I feel like... Colorado. has the talent and capability to be a spoiler this year. They play all these big teams. Utah Tech. Houston. they're gonna be underdogs in all of them but man if they could win one of those that would throw a wrench in whoever that team's.
Caleb Call: my plans are to win the conference. Yeah, well, I'm...
Ben Fowers: even Kansas State.
Caleb Call: Yeah, Kansas State too. So I'm excited to see Colorado, hopefully. Juju Lewis can get his act together. He looked better against Weber State, but again, an FCS game is never a get -right game. You've got to do that against that.
Caleb Call: FBS team to really see if he can make up for how bad he looked against Georgia Tech. So overall, a pretty fun slate in the Big 12. i feel like we are going to learn a lot in lubbock and then next week's where the real fun starts as far as the rest of the conference goes um college football slate, we have...
Caleb Call: couple of big headliners main one Lane Kiffin Going back to Oxford.
Ben Fowers: Yes sir.
Caleb Call: This. There's not so much to say about this game. So much happened since Lane Kiffin announced he was leaving for... LSU last year And I guess to start,
Caleb Call: All right. we talked a couple of times about how you felt that Ole Miss should have let Lane Kiffin keep coaching and then I felt Ole Miss was correct in. saying goodbye to link if and shoving him out the door once he started to try and steal their players and steal their coaches and overall there was a lot of bad blood with the way that relationship ended And here they are having to play week three back in Oxford.
Caleb Call: Who do you think has more pressure on them, Ole Miss and Pete Golding or Lane Kiffin over at LSU?
Ben Fowers: I'd probably say Lane Kiffin over at LSU. LSU's a spot where they got rid of Brian Kelly pretty quick when he... had one kind of half meltdown of a season. um all immersive.
Ben Fowers: they go If they lose that game, it's kind of like... it's kind of like there he's the the master behind the whole roster and everything where he brought in all those guys. And so.
Ben Fowers: I think it's one of those things where I think Ole Miss moves on pretty – quicker than LSU would. I think LSU dropping this game. even though they're going on the road. I think is... I guess it depends if Sam Leavitt plays.
Ben Fowers: I'll clarify that. here there's Rumors that he came out, he's doubtful.
Caleb Call: Yeah. I think Wayne Kiffin's... Pulling some mind games here. I'm sure Sam Levitt's going to play in this game.
Ben Fowers: That's what I assume too. I think Sam Levitt's going to go. I think. He's listed as doubtful, though. Doubtful usually means not play. and so i
Caleb Call: Questionable today that it got updated tonight. And it's...
Ben Fowers: I didn't see that
Caleb Call: already been questionable. I'm sure tomorrow he's going to be probable.
Ben Fowers: I mean, even if you spent an hour or two of a film for those coaches on the backup. I think that's a win. So. If that's all Lane Kiffin was trying to do, I think.
Ben Fowers: He probably won the mind game on that. But i a so assuming Sam Levitt plays, I think. Pressure's on LSU because I think. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I'm pretty sure LSU spent. more money in the portal, I think.
Caleb Call: i'm sure they did yeah
Ben Fowers: Bye. kind of the expectation is that you're going to go take care of your own. Your team and so this line actually opened up as LSU three and a half point favorite, but it's now Ole Miss one and a half last I saw. And I think it.
Ben Fowers: It swung when the... Sam Leavitt news happens, so it'll be interesting to see what happens.
Caleb Call: It went down to one and a half and climbed straight back up to three I think people were slamming it once it dropped a little bit
Ben Fowers: with
Ben Fowers: So I'm curious to see what happens.
Caleb Call: This game right here This is huge for LSU. because so This week, the go -to Ole Miss. Next week, they get Texas A &M coming to...
Caleb Call: Death Valley. So obviously two huge top 10 games coming right up. You go beat Ole Miss, you're sitting top five, top three in the country. You're going to climb a ton in the rankings.
Caleb Call: You can go out and beat Texas A &M right after and sitting at 4 -0. Your next four games are games you're going to be large favorites. McNeese, Kentucky. Mississippi State who does look scary.
Caleb Call: and at Auburn and then a bye. So really, you've got two huge games, and then you've got five weeks where you should have some time to get some wins. Hopefully get Sam Levin and whoever else healthy and ready because their November schedule is tough. They got Bama. Texas and Tennessee You probably aren't going 3 -0 in those games. And so you got to win.
Caleb Call: I really would love to win both of these two games. and give yourself. two mulligans going into that last stretch but if you lose one or lose both of these games then you really are putting your playoff chances at odds already this early in the season because you do have...
Caleb Call: four huge games after this Ole Miss game. so I'm excited to see if if LSU can win these next two weeks. you can almost already pencil them into the playoff and then maybe they get upset along the way Sam Levin and Lane Kiffin both have shown vulnerability in the past two upsets.
Caleb Call: but this really is one of the These next two games starting in Ole Miss, a huge hurdle early in the year for LSU. Then Ole Miss is kind of a similar story. They've got Texas and Georgia.
Caleb Call: And then a couple of other potentially tough games, Florida, Missouri. Oklahoma. But if you can go beat LSU. I mean, the the winner of this game is feeling great about their playoff odds and the loser of this game.
Caleb Call: You just lost one of your probably two mulligans And you've both got tough games on your schedule the rest of the way. um Honestly, if I'm Ole Miss fan, I'm glad this game is in Oxford.
Caleb Call: I think that Ole Miss. Before the season. I thought that they were going to win this game. But now having seen the LSU offense against Clemson, and i granted Clemson doesn't look great. But.
Caleb Call: LSU was so explosive. They are moving the ball. at will, and despite Sam Levitt turnovers in most of both of their games. They have been. about moving the ball, scoring points.
Caleb Call: And... Ole Miss defense. Looked a little shaky against Louisville. I don't think LSU's offense is worse than Louisville's. I think LSU's going to score some points. and Honestly, I'm kind of leaning LSU at this point having seen Both of these teams play this year.
Caleb Call: And I felt pretty good about picking Ole Miss before the season started. what what What are you feeling about this game as far as... Who's going to win it?
Ben Fowers: Yeah. I uh... We've talked about this game since... really the coaching change. We were talking about how it was. This LSU Ole Miss game was going to be fun. No.
Caleb Call: yeah yeah
Ben Fowers: I initially, i I kind of thought Lane Kiffin was going to be able to, I mean, he's... been around Pete Golding. He's going to know the defense, what they're trying to do. And I thought he's going to pick them apart. And then. As the season came, like right before the season, I switched back to Ole Miss.
Ben Fowers: I picked Ole Miss as one of the teams I had to make the playoffs with. because I had them winning this game in Oxford. And that was the big reason was it was in Oxford. But like you said, watching them do what they did to Clemson, I... ah I think LSU is legit. I think LSU.
Ben Fowers: um He's going to take care of business. And so I've swung back. So I started at LSU, switched to Ole Miss right as the season started. And after that week one game against Clemson, I switched back to LSU in this game. So I'm back on the Lane Kiffin LSU train. I think they're going to get it done. and Like you said, they. yeah They go win this game on the road. That's huge because then they go host A &M next week. If you start out undefeated.
Ben Fowers: 4 -0 right there. Then. You're sitting there. Next force game stretch is pretty light. You're at 8 -0, and all you got to go is 1 -2. in that uh that beginning of november schedule and one of them's tennessee one of them's And so it's.
Ben Fowers: I think it's just one of those things where if LSU can go win this game, I think I'd be shocked if they didn't make the playoff after this one.
Caleb Call: that
Ben Fowers: so
Caleb Call: And I think Ole Miss too. If I had to bet, I think the winner of this game is in the playoff and the loser of this game misses the playoff. I think they both probably have won maybe two losses outside of this game.
Caleb Call: And maybe LSU is good enough to go undefeated. tough schedule but they still have the talent to do it This is a huge game in week three. I'm excited for it.
Ben Fowers: so the
Caleb Call: This is an awesome matchup. outside of the coaching situation. Pete Golding does not seem to have any fond feelings for Lane Kiffin with the way everything ended last year. Lane Kiffin.
Caleb Call: in Ole Miss that all those bridges got burned. I can't wait for this one. That's going to be a Saturday night game. I'm honestly kind of sad because it conflicts with the BYU game. So that this will be something that I'll have on on the second screen and we'll definitely be paying attention to.
Caleb Call: One of the other main games of the day. One of the biggest games for the ACC this year, we got SMU and... Louisville. one and a half point spread. Do you think that either of these teams... Peace.
Caleb Call: done enough this year so far to make you feel like they should be a clear favorite in this one. that They feel like pretty similar teams, both in that second tier of the ACC.
Ben Fowers: I really like Louisville. i ah they That game against Ole Miss where they came to play and. I was. Super impressed by the quarterback. Um,
Ben Fowers: And I don't know how to say it. Kienholz, I think is how they pronounce it.
Caleb Call: get kindles.
Ben Fowers: Lincoln.
Caleb Call: Yeah.
Ben Fowers: Kind holes, yeah. Yeah. He came in. and They went down two scores late in that game, and it seemed like it was over, and they came back and tied it against Ole Miss. and that's ah That's a tough Ole Miss defense. that He did that too. and so I like Louisville on SMU. I actually, they were kind of turning the ball over. It looked pretty sloppy in Florida state. And so I lean Louisville on this one and just quarterback wise.
Ben Fowers: I think it's, ah I think. They got the advantage. which you would have been It would have been a crazy thing to say preseason with Kevin Jennings over there at SM. you And so I think ah i think Louisville's ah offense is going to be able to score points on them. And I think SMU is going to be able to score but not keep up.
Ben Fowers: um what the points Louisville puts it on. So I, I like Louisville on this game. And I think they're. ah This is a big, ah like you said, they're a ranked matchup and this is a big uh a huge ACC game for who can make the conference championship game.
Caleb Call: The SMU -Florida State game, SMU almost lost. And I came away. thinking that SMU looked better than I expected them to this season. And the reason for it is just because of how explosive their offense was.
Caleb Call: They did have the turnovers. And it resulted in them playing a bad Florida State team close. And I think that they probably will have a couple other games this season where it looks similar to that. They turned the ball over too much. and Let a bad team play with them But their offense put up.
Caleb Call: 585 yards. at Florida State in the first week of the season. And if you remember... Right before kickoff, they had the power outage. And they couldn't even call plays the normal way. The coach couldn't talk to the quarterback. It was all old school signals. And these teams were not prepared for that. They spent all offseason. preparing to call plays a different way.
Caleb Call: Not that – I mean, both teams were playing the same way and dealing with the same – issues. But. SMU, despite that. Um... kind of curveball that I was throwing at them.
Caleb Call: was so... effective at moving the ball on offense had some chunk touchdowns had Five or six passes of over 30 yards in that game. In Louisville's defense, we saw it against Ole Miss. They were pretty good in the first half, but in the second half.
Caleb Call: The Trinidad -Chamberlain was scoring it well on that defense. there was Passes to be made and I think SMU is gonna be able to find that too Now, Louisville on ah offense also. just as good.
Caleb Call: SMU's defense did look fine against Florida State, not great. Outside of the turnovers, Florida State probably only managed one or two real drives in that game. I think that I probably lean SMU.
Caleb Call: um to win this game. But I would not be shocked at all in either direction. I think that It really is going to come down to which quarterback can have the better day. I think the two teams outside the quarterback.
Caleb Call: probably are pretty similar. And you've got two two of the better quarterbacks in the ACC, both probably playing on Sundays here, not too far in the future. i'm excited for this one it's fun having i mean in the sec and in the big 12 and in the acc We have very meaningful games that, for all we know, end up being de facto playing games to the conference championship game.
Caleb Call: And this is all happening in week three.
Ben Fowers: Yeah.
Caleb Call: It's a pretty fun slate.
Ben Fowers: Yeah, question for you. on a I always wonder, I guess sometimes I wonder if I overanalyze some of the... um old games. And so. From your standpoint, because I remember after we talked about the Florida State -SMU game, you came away you're like they turned the ball over, but they moved the ball. like They are still able to win a game even though they play really sloppy.
Ben Fowers: Does a game against that against Florida state. Does Florida State the week before kind of how they struggled against New Mexico State a little bit? They won 34 -17, but like. Didn't really blow him out. it's A tight game. Does that affect any of like the.
Ben Fowers: any of your calculus as you're wondering like Is SMU a good team? because they struggle like they they win this tight game against Florida State, and Florida State kind of... did dominate a a New Mexico state team. Does that play? Like how much of that does that play in while you're thinking about that game?
Caleb Call: It's a good question, and honestly, the Florida State -New Mexico game or new mexico State game Does not hold a ton of weight for me. That's a week zero game. Florida State ends up winning comfortably. They did let New Mexico State hang in there for a long time in that game, ended up winning by 17.
Caleb Call: I think that Florida State, they have a very tough schedule. They're probably a four to six win team. I do not think they're a very great team. And the thing is, is SMU on a down to down basis.
Caleb Call: Really did dominate that game. They... Had. almost double the yardage that Florida State had. The big difference was they turned the ball over four times. And we saw.
Caleb Call: Arizona State. They dominated the yardage. against Texas A &M. But they turned the ball over four times, too. And what did they do? They lost by 28 points. Now, granted, Texas A and &M is a much better team than Florida State, but to have played such a good game that you could overcome.
Caleb Call: Four turnovers. And I think those four turnovers. I think they led to 17 Florida State points. You essentially were playing against yourselves. and you played good enough to win when you gave yourself i mean that was a huge advantage for turnovers I'm...
Caleb Call: And maybe this is. wrong on me to be assuming. But having that be the first game of the season against a team who had already played, already got their system through, they had already let their quarterback and their defense get a week zero game in.
Caleb Call: and you had the big change up early making can you call plays differently and just operate your entire offense differently. I'm kind of giving SMU the benefit of the doubt that I think that they.
Caleb Call: I think those turnovers are. hopefully not going to be a recurring problem. And the explosiveness I saw in offense, the ease in moving the chains. i i I'm kind of relying on what I saw down to down to be the bigger story for SMU and not what I saw happen. on four turnovers.
Caleb Call: So we'll see how it goes. I could see SMU. falling apart and being a seven win team. I could see him winning 10 or 11 games. They got Notre Dame late in the season. That would be a big one for them too. and Really. Both SMU and Louisville both, neither of them are playing in Miami.
Caleb Call: Whoever wins this game. Kind of like the Texas Tech -Houston game. It's feeling great about their chance to make the ACC title game. Whoever loses this game has got some work to do. Because you weren't banking on Miami you losing the game in ACC play.
Caleb Call: You've got Virginia to worry about. and you have the team that you lost to to worry about. i mean This really does have some huge ACC title implications. I think right now SMU and Louisville are both second and third in the odds.
Caleb Call: Right behind Miami.
Ben Fowers: yeah so this game is huge you can't You can't lose this one and then have lose the tiebreaker instantly too so you're basically down two games if you if you drop it and That one.
Caleb Call: but
Caleb Call: Yeah.
Ben Fowers: you're almost out so Louisville being at home I kind of tend to lean lean there so that'll be a fun one to to follow.
Caleb Call: Yeah, I'm excited for it. Fun slate overall. So those are the three headliners we talked about. Tech Houston, LSU Ole Miss. that's uh And then SMU Louisville.
Ben Fowers: and some you
Caleb Call: Outside of those three games, It's kind of an interesting slate. You don't have another game that jumps off the screen. You got a bunch of fun. potentially challenging close matchups. The SEC, credit to them, they're actually playing some tough games this week while the Big Ten has a bunch of just...
Caleb Call: uh snoozers going on What are some other games that you've got your eye on this week outside of the big three?
Ben Fowers: I think a fun one, and ah kind of a sneaky fun one in the SEC is 2 -0 Florida versus 2 -0 Auburn. You've got ah brand -new coaches. You've got some raw versus. ah goalish And so I think. ah I think that one's going to be interesting to see. It's at Auburn. so I don't know. Summerall hasn't. They've had two really easy matchups. So he hasn't really been tested yet at Florida. They've had two big wins. And so I'm curious to see what happens when they go so strap up against a team that's similar roster or similar.
Ben Fowers: physicality is them. So that's the one I can keep my eyes on because With whoever wins that, that they're they're feeling good with their 3 -0 team and new coach.
Caleb Call: Yeah, that's gonna be a fun game. That game right there is just like the... SEC analytics bowl because Every year you see it. the the strength of record and strength of schedule metrics.
Caleb Call: You're going to have a 5 -7 Florida or a 5 -7 Auburn. That ends up being considered a better win than beating a 10 -2 Houston. Whether or not that's actually a tougher game to win. I don't know the answer to. Florida, at least what we've seen from Auburn so far with their game against Baylor.
Caleb Call: I don't think Auburn's an SEC contender at all this year. I don't think they have the talent to be that yet. I don't think Byron Brown is good enough yet. But we saw last year with the defense that Auburn had. They were not getting blown out. They gave Georgia all they could handle. They gave Bama all they could handle. And so I think that.
Caleb Call: This game against Florida will be a chance for Florida to come out and... So let's see if Florida, if they have a chance to be a contender or at least a potential to be a spoiler here in the SEC.
Caleb Call: I think Florida's definitely got more talent. Love their running back room. Jordan Baugh is awesome. I think that Florida probably should win this game. and I think win or lose, I still feel like Auburn is about a 500 team.
Caleb Call: But if Florida can go out there and roll Auburn. That might say a lot about Florida, and maybe that's a team that you've got to start taking more seriously in the SEC.
Ben Fowers: Yeah. you Like you said, the SEC Bowl. I think the winner of this probably, there's a chance a 3 -0 winner of this has snuck into the... The low 20s in the poll next week. And so you're probably going to see the whoever wins this game is going to be ranked.
Caleb Call: But have you considered that the loser of this game is going to have a quality loss? against a ranked team. Might have to rank them both after this one.
Ben Fowers: That's what it feels like sometimes.
Caleb Call: Another SEC game I got my eye on. South Carolina. Mississippi State. Two of the funnest quarterbacks in the country, Lenora Sellers and... um Blaming on his name to Mario They uh...
Ben Fowers: Demario Taylor.
Caleb Call: demar taylor south carolina two years ago Almost made the playoff. Such a fun offense. And then last year they were so bad that everybody just kind of forgot about them, stopped talking about them.
Caleb Call: Well, here they are. It's a new season chance to prove themselves against Mississippi State, who, again, Kamario Taylor. Huge game against Minnesota. Dead.
Caleb Call: Mississippi State has always been an afterthought for me in the SEC. Ever since Dak Prescott left, they had the few years there where they were relevant. number one in the first -ever college football playoff rankings. But they've been a trash team since.
Caleb Call: Very rarely have they... been like a contender to do much of anything in the SEC. Kamario Taylor has you feeling pretty good if you're a Mississippi State fan. I'm excited for this one, kind of for the same reason of the Florida -Auburn game.
Caleb Call: I think the winner of this game. is feeling good about themselves as far as a chance to go win seven or eight games and Maybe if you get an extra upset or two, you're even sitting there on the playoff bubble by the end of the year. And at the very least.
Caleb Call: the loser of this game has their chances to make a bowl probably cut in half. I mean, this is a huge game for bowl eligibility. And again, These are two teams probably not good enough.
Caleb Call: to win the SEC. but definitely talented enough to go play spoiler and upset a couple of teams that are better than them. So I can't wait to see these two quarterbacks go out there and play. I think this will be probably one of the more fun, just popcorn games where you're going to have big plays on both sides of the ball.
Caleb Call: and Should be enjoyable to watch.
Ben Fowers: yeah Also a Notre Dame -Michigan State game will be interesting. If. I just want to see if Michigan State can... make it a half. the first half if they can kind of... Um, if they can make it a tight game. and They look all right in the first half. I might be. you a little bit more down on Notre Dame than I originally thought. So I'm curious to just watch how this game starts and see if Notre Dame just goes and dominates from the get -go or if they play with their food a little bit. So we've seen Notre Dame do that in the past, in the last few years. with lesser teams and so.
Ben Fowers: I'm curious to see a Michigan State team that comes in as a four four -touchdown underdog. i I'm curious to see if they can go. do that. I expect Notre Dame to take care of business. It it almost feels like Notre Dame. and BYU are kind of on this little mini con collision.
Ben Fowers: uh collision course to be undefeated against each other so i think that'll be uh That's what we're kind of as a BYU fan for you. i i'm I'm sure you're kind of hoping and cheering and watching.
Ben Fowers: those games for them to win, but also probably a little bit of a kink in the armor is probably.
Caleb Call: Look vulnerable, but win and stay ring -tied.
Ben Fowers: going you Yeah.
Caleb Call: Yes.
Ben Fowers: Yeah, so you get a top five.
Caleb Call: And they did perfect against Wisconsin, a 28 -point win where they looked like crap for a half. That was great.
Ben Fowers: Yeah. yeah so i'm curious to see just to watch them and see them because i'm I think ah just any college football fans are going to be excited. I mean, Notre Dame doesn't have a... crazy schedule this year. so goman Coming into Provo, that's going to be a fun one to to circle and watch that week. and so I think. ah That'll be it.
Ben Fowers: That'll be a... A fun one to follow this week is if Notre Dame can go kind of dominate Michigan State or if they're going to look like they did against Wisconsin at the start.
Caleb Call: Yeah.
Ben Fowers: So.
Caleb Call: So Notre Dame. Loses two first round running backs last year. Praise and love. Awesome running backs. But they feel good about their stable behind them. So far this year,
Caleb Call: Let's see if you can guess. Notre Dame, they played Rice and they played Wisconsin. What's their longest rush of the season?
Ben Fowers: Longest rush? Um... I'm going to guess it's something small because you're saying this. So I'm going to say. 32 yards.
Caleb Call: 16.
Ben Fowers: 16 yards, okay.
Caleb Call: They do not have a single 20 -yard run yet on the season. Average yards per carry across their running back room. And this is not even counting. Carr has been sacked twice for negative six yards.
Caleb Call: Taking that off the books. How many yards per carry are Notre Dame running backs averaging, having played Rice in Wisconsin?
Ben Fowers: I actually... ah Before I guess, I'm playing in a fantasy football college league, and we were playing Williams last week, the Notre Dame running back, and he only scored three points. I know he didn't have a very good game last week, but I'm going to go low. I'm going to say.
Ben Fowers: three Let's go 3 .7 yards per carry.
Caleb Call: 3 .6, almost hit the nail on the head there.
Ben Fowers: 3 .6, okay.
Caleb Call: this Notre Dame. For as long as I can remember has had running backs that they could trust and led with the run game They've always had decent quarterbacks I mean Klassen and... Tommy Reese and whoever else but this ah This Notre Dame offense does not look like it has.
Caleb Call: in the past. I think that CJ Carr is a good quarterback. I think that they're going to have a good throwing game all year. But if they can't establish the run against some of these teams, You're feeling pretty excited if you're BYU, where if you can...
Caleb Call: Kind of shut down the run and take that away from them and for CJ car to beat you throwing the ball get them into third and long situations. It could be a nice spot, honestly, for a chance to go play a spoiler. So I've got my eyes on these Notre Dame running backs. I want to see if they can.
Caleb Call: figure the ground game out or if that really is a an issue that they have up for their team. and that they struggle with all season long. So yeah, the Notre Dame -Michigan State game is definitely one that I've got my eyes peeled on. And outside of that... I think the other game that I am most interested to see.
Caleb Call: It's a revenge game for Bama against Florida State. That should be a fun one. Do you think Florida State's got... any juice for potential upset there
Ben Fowers: I don't. i er I'm kind of slowly coming around on Alabama. um I was a little hesitant a week or two ago about just the quarterback play. I wasn't sure. and They look good.
Ben Fowers: I think they... ah I think one of those... they're going to use that fuel from. that loss. And so I I think Alabama is going to take care of business. and Last I saw, they were about a three -touchdown favorite over them, and it's in. in Tuscaloosa and so I think Alabama. Got it. opens it up and Runs it up on him. I i got him covering the...
Ben Fowers: the big line already. I think it was a 20 -0 when I saw it. 20 -ish point line, so I got Alabama covering that, and I think they're just going to... Kind of roll roll tide. I'm gonna roll in and roll out
Caleb Call: I think Bama will too. But it would be one of the funniest things in the world to have Florida State go and beat them again. and have Mike Orville get fired in the same season. So that'll be one that I'm paying attention to, but I definitely don't think that.
Caleb Call: Florida State outside of. I mean, if you saw them against SMU, they got the four turnovers and they still couldn't win the game. I think with ah Alabama, it's probably going to be a similar story where. they just don't have the the horses to win the race there.
Ben Fowers: I think.
Caleb Call: um
Ben Fowers: Over under, so Mike Norvell, let me read you his schedule. Alabama. Then they play Central Arkansas, and then they play a three -game schedule. Virginia, so ranked Virginia, ranked Louisville.
Ben Fowers: ranked Miami. So four of their next five games are ranked. Is he? Is he fired before the fifth game or is he fired in the middle of that? Or when do you think he's out?
Caleb Call: what What's tough is Florida State just fired their athletic director. So that changes the calculus on this completely. Before that decision was made, I'd probably say...
Caleb Call: earlier I think that Norvell survives the season, and I think during the offseason they can. and I think Florida State probably wins four games this year would be the number I'd put out for them.
Caleb Call: It is not an easy schedule. They got Florida to end it too. I think they probably lose four, if not five of those games. I think. Three wins is, or not three wins, or I think two wins.
Caleb Call: is less likely than zero wins. in that stretch they're going to be the worst team in every single one of those games Bam and Miami, I think both are going to kill them. And I don't think they're going to be good enough to beat.
Caleb Call: Virginia or Louisville. Or, um... I can't remember the 13 -7 there, but yeah, that's just a... Brutal stretch
Ben Fowers: Three of the...
Caleb Call: I feel bad for Mike Norvell.
Ben Fowers: Three of those four ranked matchups, too, are on the road. i And then they get a bye week after that stretch. And so I think it it might be ah a nice little segue to give your.
Ben Fowers: your interim coach, a two -week head start.
Caleb Call: an interim head coach.
Ben Fowers: Yeah. so
Caleb Call: Matt Norvell seems like a good guy.
Ben Fowers: I would.
Caleb Call: Had the 13 -0 season. I feel bad for him. but This Florida State team just is. awful like last year was terrible the year before that was terrible At some point...
Caleb Call: They got to go find the guy on Twitter. Who promised to eat the dog shit and never did. Go find him. Make him eat the dog food. Get that curse off your back. Did you see that?
Ben Fowers: Yeah.
Caleb Call: That's got to be the curse going on in Tallahassee. You've got to fix that.
Ben Fowers: ah
Caleb Call: I don't know if there's any other way to fix Florida State football than getting that guy. I think his name was like 321 Seminole or something. You gotta own up.
Ben Fowers: what was the game again i can't remember the game though he said he would eat
Caleb Call: Boston College.
Ben Fowers: He said if they lost to Boston College, he would eat dog crap, and they ended up losing.
Caleb Call: Boston College.
Ben Fowers: and he Fantomed it.
Caleb Call: Rough. Yeah, I...
Ben Fowers: yeah
Caleb Call: I don't know that Florida State's got it this year, so I assume they're going to get fired. Poor Mike Norvell. Dude's gonna be a... millionaire for the rest of his life but Never be allowed in Tallahassee again once he gets fired.
Ben Fowers: That's gonna be a fun job to see who gets it but
Caleb Call: Yeah, no kidding. If Dion has a good enough year, I wonder if they'll let him come home. There's going to be a lot of candidates that are looking for that job.
Ben Fowers: yeah
Caleb Call: but they You can get enough NIL support. That could be a team that turns around pretty quick once they get the right guy in there.
Caleb Call: so As far as super dogs go. Last week I had a cover with Iowa State. And then my other pick, Yukon, did not cover. You.
Caleb Call: I had a win. You were on the Wolverines against Oklahoma.
Ben Fowers: mm -hmm
Caleb Call: You were. Honestly, kind of alone on that. There was not a lot of people in the world picking their trust in Michigan to do anything. and Kyle Whittingham does what Kyle Whittingham does and goes out there and beats Oklahoma.
Caleb Call: so that puts you up to 15 and a half you got the five and a half plus the five for cover and i'm at ten so you're Taking the lead there on the season. Who are your super dogs this week?
Ben Fowers: Yeah, so I got a The first one is I got Ohio. going into south alabama and winning that game i got so it's a seven point line and Ohio is an interesting team just because.
Ben Fowers: um They've kind of always been sneaky throughout the years. They've always been able to um kind of take care of business. in in conference games. in like a sneaky conference spot and kind of.
Ben Fowers: been able to play the dark horse the underdog and um they're ah They're one and one so far, and they... ah They lost to Nebraska. But one thing that was interesting about that Nebraska game was it was.
Ben Fowers: Amen. It was a one point game at halftime. So they played a pretty tough first half against them. And so sometimes when you got those non -powerful teams, I like to see how they play. for half because sometimes it's so hard to Put 60 minutes together.
Ben Fowers: um against those teams that have just better talent than you so i really like to watch half three quarters like in those kind of G5 games, like, can you make it competitive? Can you make those games ugly? And I feel like that usually translates. into similar competition and so i like their uh i like their chances to to go into South Alabama, the seven points. in and uh and cover that game and win the game outright. So I like it. That's the that's my first one this week.
Caleb Call: I like the pick. I'll go through both of mine. I've got FIU. cover and they've got seven and a half against FAU. Honestly, this one, I don't have like a perfect feel for it, but I know f FIU gave USF a game, and FIU did just come off getting killed by Florida.
Caleb Call: It's a rivalry game. I feel like giving seven and a half points to a team that I saw play well against USF, who is... likely better than FAU this year. Going with FIU. the Panthers.
Caleb Call: And then. I am so... Anti. Washington this year. Now. Do I think they're going to go out there and lose as 42 .5 -point favorites to Eastern Washington?
Caleb Call: Probably not. But 42 and a half for an offense that I don't think is capable of scoring 42 .5 points. Give me the Eastern Washington.
Caleb Call: They're going to cover this game. The question is, is Washington, are they going to win this game? i I do not think that Washington. his score on 42 points in this one i think this is a free five points for the cover And maybe Eastern Washington goes out there and shocks the world and gets me.
Caleb Call: 42 .5 points on top of the five for a cover.
Ben Fowers: ah
Caleb Call: Give me Eastern Washington for my second super dog.
Ben Fowers: What did Washington ever do to you? Must have been something pretty bad, but.
Caleb Call: look like trash against the two bad Pac -12 teams. and I'll tell you what, that's what they did to me.
Ben Fowers: Yeah, Utah State losing to Idaho State. didn't ah didn't instill any of that confidence. so I like the pig.
Caleb Call: that They looked better against Washington than they did against Idaho State.
Ben Fowers: I like the pig. Obviously, I don't think it's going to be ah a... 42 .5 is a ton of points for a team that only scored 16 last week. 0 -1 Utah State team. and so I... I agree with you. I think i think the 42 .5 seems like a big number. i I don't think there's any shot they lose. but The 42 .5 seems huge, and I think Eastern Washington can do it.
Ben Fowers: Even if they if Eastern Washington puts some points on the boards, now you're sitting there needing 50 points from Washington. and That seems like a a tall task after their 16 last week. but my So my second pick, I'm going in the Big 12. I'm going to go the the Friday night game, Houston versus Texas Tech. So i it's got seven and a half point.
Ben Fowers: dog They're going on the road. I... ah i don't know like i I don't have a great feel for if Houston's going to come pull this game out, but i think it's I think they're covering, like you said, and I think there's a good chance they they might win this game too. so ah The 7 .5 seems like a lot, especially for ah a tech team that hasn't dominated the first two weeks.
Ben Fowers: of the season so winning by more than a touchdown just seemed like a a big line to me i i uh It opened. I think it was 12 and a half points is what it opened at.
Ben Fowers: Amen. Preseason and it's as it opened this weekend dropped all the way to seven and a half because of Text. shortcomings against Oregon State and and Abilene, to be honest. And so I think this is one that. It's going to be a tough. environment. and Houston's going to have to come show up, and it's going to be a tough game to pull out. But i think I think they cover. I think it's a tight game late, and I think there's a chance they go and do it. So Houston's my second Superdog of the week.
Caleb Call: I like the pick. I think that's going to be a close game. I honestly don't think that Tech is. Head and shoulders above the Big 12 this year. and If that's the case, Houston's guys get a shot to beat them as anyone.
Caleb Call: We teased it at the very end of last week's episode. Pick them last week. We went 4 -0. on games that we agreed on. There are three games that we did not agree on.
Caleb Call: Michigan, Oklahoma. I had to go to Oklahoma. You took Michigan 1 -0 your way. Texas, Ohio State. I took. Texas. or Sorry, I took Ohio State. You took Texas. 2 -0 your way. Missouri, Kansas. I took Kansas.
Caleb Call: the civil war hype video Got me to switch my pick last second. And you took Missouri. So you ended up 7 -0 on the week. I went 4 -3 on the week. We were deadlocked after week one, so sitting at 9 -5 for me now.
Caleb Call: And you're sitting there pretty at 12 -2 for Pickham. We got seven fun games on the slate this week. We'll see if I can make up some ground here. um BYU, Colorado State, what's your score guess on this one?
Ben Fowers: Yeah, so BYU Colorado State, I got this one. I got the Cougs win. I got just 42 -21. No field goals in my score. I usually always put field goals somewhere, and so I'm going to... I'm going nine touchdowns total between the two. I got 42 -21 Cougs.
Caleb Call: I'm going 41 -17 BYU. I think BYU covers. plays a Pretty easy game here to get the win. Utah, Utah State, I've got 52 -14 for the Utes.
Caleb Call: I don't think that Utah State's got the juice to even have this game be competitive or much fun this year.
Ben Fowers: Yeah, I got I was a... Just because of Utah State's performance on defense. Yesterday, I i kept Utah under 50. So I ended up going 49 -10. So similar game to last week. It was 43 -10 for the Utes.
Ben Fowers: I got them doing something similar. i I think Bronco and Utah State maybe slow them down one or two drives. and they uh I'm hoping that the the backups coming in score a late touchdown to give me that 49 again, but I think i think they got 49 -10.
Caleb Call: ASU Kansas out in London.
Ben Fowers: And then. Next.
Caleb Call: I'm going ASU here 24 -20. I think ASU probably should win by more points than that. But they got turnover prone quarterback, and these international games are wonky and always feel like they're close.
Caleb Call: I guess you went in a close one.
Ben Fowers: If Isaiah Marshall's suiting up, I'm going up the other team by a lot.
Caleb Call: Yeah.
Ben Fowers: So I got Arizona State 34 -13 over Kansas. I don't think, ah to be honest with you, if I could put zero, I'd probably. I consider it. So 34 -13 Arizona State. I don't think Kansas does a whole lot on offense.
Caleb Call: Yeah, I I wouldn't be shocked. I think that an ASU blowout is more likely than a Kansas win. Friday night. Texas Tech. Houston. I'm leaning Texas Tech in a low -scoring game. I'm going 23 -21.
Caleb Call: I don't feel great about the pick, but I'm just not ready to pick against Texas Tech. Yeah, I think I want to see them lose before I start picking them to lose. So give me the Red Raiders 23 -21, sneaking out a huge win.
Ben Fowers: Yeah, I got this one. I'm the same as you where this doesn't feel like a does it almost doesn't feel right to pick them yet to lose outright. So I got tech 27, 24 and a tight one. um i Like I said, that Houston's my super dog. I got him covering.
Ben Fowers: And then I think there's a chance that they go win this game. but being at home in Lubbock. Texas Tech won the Big 12 Championship last year. just I think they... i think they If it's a tight, close one at the end, I think they figure it out. and so I lean.
Ben Fowers: um I mean tech there.
Caleb Call: Biggest game of the weekend. LSU. Ole Miss, I think we both kind of gave it away earlier. I'm going LSU and Lane Kiffin here. I would have gone Ole Miss two weeks ago, but. Give me the Tigers. I'm going to 34 -21. I think both offenses have a...
Caleb Call: Kind of a slow start, similar to what we saw in the Louisville. Ole Miss game and I think LSU ends up in the second half pulling it out. went in by a couple of scores.
Ben Fowers: I assume. I'm going to change my pick if Leavitt doesn't play. but um If Levitt plays, I got 38 -24 LSU. i got them I got this game going over. Just watching that Ole Miss -Louisville game go back and forth and hit 41 -38 was the final on that one. I just – I think Ole Miss is – I'm not as good defensively as I thought originally, and I think LSU and Lane Kiffin will be able to.
Ben Fowers: I mean him being as familiar with them as he's going to be, I think. he's gonna be able to take him pick him apart and so I got this one high, high scoring. I got to go flying over the over. And so we'll.
Ben Fowers: I think Liam Kiffin goes and does it. and Oxford again.
Caleb Call: One of the biggest ACC games of the year. SMU Louisville. I'm going SMU. I went back and forth with this game all week. But. I think that...
Caleb Call: SMU is capable of getting this done. I think their defense, I probably would take over Louisville's defense, and I think their offenses are pretty comparable. I like Kevin Jennings. I'm going to go with SMU to win this one 37 -28.
Caleb Call: I think it's going to be close and back and forth all game, and then SMU will do just enough to kind of. pull away there late.
Ben Fowers: I love the, like I said before, I love keen holes. I love. ah what he's doing there at louisville and so i got louisville 3420 scoring a lot of points SMU. Not being able to to hang offensively with them.
Caleb Call: And then our last pick. We went with kind of a G5 sleeper. We've got... James Madison going across the country to San Diego State. San Diego State.
Caleb Call: They played UCLA close in the first half. It was 0 -0, a halftime low -scoring game. and We know who San Diego State is generally defensive. team who struggles to score. jim ah Billy Napier and the boys going cross -country.
Caleb Call: Give me James Madison. 31 -24. I think it'll be a tight game, but I think James Madison does just enough to win this one.
Ben Fowers: I got the other side. I got San Diego State 24 -21 is what my score was. And just like you said, I think they – They kind of made that a... that UCLA game ugly for a while. I i thought I looked like a team that's capable of. um I'm winning in winning in some games this year. in the
Ben Fowers: in their conference. And so I think, uh, that's, that's the second difference we got. So right now we got, uh, so I got San Diego state, you got James Madison and then I'm, I'm in Louisville. You're going, uh, SMU. So right now it looks like we, uh, we match on five and we got two different this week. So.
Ben Fowers: I got a nice three -game lead, so hopefully I can make go push this to five.
Caleb Call: based on what we saw last week. If you're going to bet on those two games, probably go Ben's way. but Give me SMU. Give me JMU. Hoping for the best here with with my boys. Thanks for joining us.
Caleb Call: Great week of football on deck. And next week, or on Sunday night, we'll be back with a... recap of all the games in week three. Honestly, ah Not a super exciting. slate in the state with BYU and Utah's games, but it should be a very fun slate to dissect for the rest of the country So. Join us Sunday, probably Monday mornings when we'll get that posted for everyone.
Caleb Call: Hit like, subscribe. Thanks for joining us. Go Cougs.
Ben Fowers: Go Utes!
