We talked the power of a shameless Mom, the fear of letting people down, the ferocity of high school theater kids, and how shame doesn't always have to be nefarious- to Ashley, it's a friendly lemur on her shoulder.
Plus, Ashley shares a shame story about being in a relationship with an honestly super terrible older man when she was in her early twenties, and realizing she had compromised who she was to accommodate his insecurity. Don't worry, she kicks him to the curb in the end, where he belongs. A dirty curb I hope, where crappy ex-boyfriends go to languish for the rest of their days. Can you tell this story pissed me off!?
