DRS has changed how umpires make decisions, how TV companies look at the game and how batsmen bat. But there is still so much about the system that even the commentators themselves don’t seem to understand. One of the best writers on this is Kartikeya Date who has spent years trying to get to the bottom of how the ball tracking companies have worked out LBWs. On this episode we talk about umpire calls, the science and math behind the decisions, how teams are similar in their use of DRS, why the fifth day is terrible for reviews and lie detector tests.
