with the courage.
00:01:15
Speaker
Hello! Welcome to Ever Under Nude, an actual play podcast set in the Everon campaign setting. I'm your game master, Eric. I'm Trevor. I'm Randy. I'm Jeff. And welcome to another episode. Gentlemen, what happened last time? More investigation. Mm-hmm.
00:01:34
Speaker
Yeah. Interrogated a would-be thief and didn't really very successfully interrogate a theater owner. I would say we didn't even interrogate her enough to say we weren't successful. We simply asked a few questions and wandered off because she was Stonewall. We noticed that she didn't very much like being questioned. And she certainly did not like the picture. Yes.
00:01:58
Speaker
Yes. What does it mean? That's all. Well, I think it means that she turned the victim where, you know, maybe an item.

Lucas Joins the Discussion

00:02:12
Speaker
Oh, yeah. You kept insisting that it was her underwear at his apartment. That's right. Yeah, I think that's what you think, Randy. Yeah. OK, so you all went to Lucas I.R.'s residence and she has just entered the sitting room.
00:02:28
Speaker
Um, as we ended last episode, so that's where we would pick up. She, um, like I said, very pale skin, very dark hair, um, elfish features, um, tall and just an air of sadness just cloaks her as she enters this room. Um, and she's dressed, dressed in all black. Um, and how can I help you?
00:02:54
Speaker
Eris had all these things in her head about what Ciara's work has meant to her, and instead she goes, Hi. Hello. Um, please, uh, let's sit and talk. Um, you don't, you don't have anything. Did, um, were you offered? Yes. Oh, okay. Please sit. And she takes
00:03:25
Speaker
her seat in a large armchair and just looks at all of you. I was told that this is regarding Billy's death. Yes, that's correct. Since Hob isn't sitting, I think he's gonna do the,
00:03:53
Speaker
the fake disinterested thing and kind of wander and look at the stuff on the walls while we're talking, but still very much listening. Okay. If that doesn't seem off-putting to her. No, that's fine. Remind me again, who asked us to look into this? Verla. Verla. Verla. Okay. Raynard's detective friend. Yes. Because justice wasn't being done through the normal channels. Yes. I'm not sure what help I can be, but
00:04:23
Speaker
anything that you

Investigating Billy's Death

00:04:24
Speaker
all need. I'm more than happy and willing to help. Oh, yeah. Eris pulls out her notes.
00:04:46
Speaker
Did Billy keep manuscripts in his apartment? It was pretty clear someone had robbed, had broken into some drawers and things, and I was trying to think of what you might have had that would be worth killing him over.
00:05:06
Speaker
I shared drafts with him so he could give input and we could make edits and things like that to make the best show possible. So yes, he had some of my scripts.
00:05:21
Speaker
for older works and upcoming works, what I'm working on right now. But I don't know why anybody would kill them. Do you know where he kept them? Presumably in his study, or we would talk in his sitting area, so perhaps there, perhaps he would just leave them in there. I don't know. That's very interesting.
00:05:50
Speaker
I don't know why somebody would kill him over scripts. Well, it's interesting because when looking around his apartment, I did not notice any scripts anywhere. Perhaps I, if somebody would hope to steal a script to potentially put on
00:06:14
Speaker
One of my pieces, I have copies of all of mine as well. It would be fairly easy to prove that whoever was passing this work off as their own was lying. So unless somebody was just looking to sell a script for a quick coin, that's the only thing I could think of. But as far as I know, they had ruled out robbery since Billy's coin purse was still intact.
00:06:46
Speaker
We were thinking it might have been a much more specific kind of robbery, as opposed to the more general kind. And also that maybe the investigation wasn't being carried out very carefully. Well, that certainly seems to be the case. Right. Do you know if Billy was romantically involved with anyone specific?
00:07:18
Speaker
No, I don't believe Billy was interested in that sort of thing. Did Billy used to have a family? There was a photograph. That's not a thing. There was a portrait. Can I see it?
00:07:47
Speaker
Yeah, it takes out of her pocket. She glances at it and I only know the sharn version of Billy. Obviously Billy is of an age to where he lived a life before he came here, but he never shared that part of himself with me. So I can't tell you
00:08:16
Speaker
I can't tell you who these people are. Unfortunately, I don't recognize either of them, but that is certainly Billy in the picture.

Uncovering Billy's Past

00:08:25
Speaker
Do you know where he came from? When I would ask, he said the countryside, that he wanted to come to the city to realize his dream. But he was always, because Billy and I were,
00:08:45
Speaker
I would like to think fairly close, um, beyond our, our working relationship. I believe there was a genuine friendship there. And, um, anytime I would pry into his time before Sean, he was, he would deflect fairly quickly and change the subject to something more present and pertinent. Whatever Billy's past was, he certainly didn't want to talk about it.
00:09:17
Speaker
Right. When was the last time you saw him alive? I was at Billy's, presumably the night that it occurred, the night before his body was found. We were working on the next show and going over notes and things like that and some other
00:09:44
Speaker
Just some other points of discussion. The landlord there mentioned that you were living with a very large book. Yes.
00:10:04
Speaker
And she gets up and walks to a small console table on one of the walls and slides the drawer open and produces a fairly thick book. And it's on the outside says the Annals and History of the Andarian Wars is what it says on the outside.
00:10:35
Speaker
This was the book that I was leaving with, and she opens it, and inside the book, kind of hollowed out, is a smaller book. That it is... I can't think of a clever title off the top of my head, but looking at the book, it is...
00:11:02
Speaker
It is a book to help deal with recovery and temptation and willpower. I don't understand. And she kind of regards all of you and kind

Pawning Incident Revealed

00:11:22
Speaker
of glances over her shoulder at Hob, who's still walking around. I think I've stopped. Yeah.
00:11:33
Speaker
For the sake of my own well-being, I don't wish to share details, but Billy was helping me get out of a particularly dark place. And he thought this book could help, but obviously with the prying eyes of this district, I couldn't be seen parading about with a book of this nature.
00:11:59
Speaker
We had a decoy that would make sense for myself to be carrying around with it. Right, okay. Like I said, Billy and I were close. Hob, make me a perception check. You got it.
00:12:23
Speaker
Easy difficulty, one poi bowl. Yeah, that's fine. Yep. I might actually pass. Would you like to flip the story point? We have four as well. Let's see what I see. I'm interested to know what I see. One success. I barely see it.
00:12:42
Speaker
Um, as she's saying this hob, um, she left the drawer that she had pulled out open and, uh, just, just a little bit. Like she had gone to slide it back and just didn't think, um, you recognize, um, that there is some.
00:12:59
Speaker
contraband in there that you would recognize from a job that you did a while back with Kath regarding a group of people that were peddling fool's hope. I remember that fight. That gives you a sense of joy and exuberance and yeah, you see some contraband that would lead you to believe that perhaps somebody was taking it. So.
00:13:29
Speaker
I think Hobb says, not yet, he hasn't spoken, he's not gonna start out with, so you're doing drugs. It's sad, right? Feeling better? I think he's gonna say, we do have a person of interest that we've heard described now by several people as being connected to this. The doctor who said that he simply died of natural causes,
00:13:57
Speaker
I suppose you, you know as well as we do that he didn't know what he was talking about. Yes. We're fairly certain. He's in fact not a doctor. And this has something to do with this. Do you know of any men? Did we get an approximate height, just average height? A little shorter than Harold. Okay, George, right.
00:14:24
Speaker
Okay. No. She said a little shorter than Harold. Okay. Because Luca would know Harold. Did she mean George? I think she meant George, because he was right there to use as a frame of reference. That's what I intended to say. Okay, how tall was George? That's so much more helpful. How tall is this person, Eric? Because I was thinking, man, this is going to be really great once we meet Harold and have an idea of how tall Harold is. Yeah, how tall is George? George was about five foot nine. Okay. Okay.
00:14:52
Speaker
uh fell about five five seven five eight ish um dark beard dark hair possibly a pockmarked skin on the right side of his face some sort of scarring hmm white guy yeah white guy uh she thinks for a moment and dressed to look fancy but the clothes were actually shabby
00:15:23
Speaker
that one time. Well. There. Like maybe he has access to a costume closet. Sure. Sure. Um, I mean, aside from the, the scarring that could be a description of Billy's former valet Eddie is about that heightened
00:15:50
Speaker
His hair is brownish, but I would describe it as dark, dark brown. There is another incident that we had, I would say two or three months back, walking out of rehearsal for the show that's currently running at the diamond, where Billy went out a little bit ahead of me.
00:16:17
Speaker
And when I exited the theater, I saw Billy having a conversation with somebody that looked like that. I was, it was nighttime. I was a little distant away. Um, and it didn't look like Eddie. Um, and when I tried to ask Billy about it, he just told me to not worry about it, that it was something that he was trying to get sorted, but it did not seem like a friendly conversation. So if this person, if, if that's who you're looking for, then they have had contact with Billy.
00:16:47
Speaker
for a while now. And they did not look to be unfriendly terms. Remind me, please, Eric, or someone who took good notes, better notes than me. Marvert's story was Billy talking to Luca when he said, if he was going to kill him, okay, let's find out who they were talking about.
00:17:13
Speaker
We talked with Marvert at the theater, and he told us that there was a point where he overheard, um, didn't overhear your conversation, but when things got heated at the end, he did overhear Billy saying he was, I know it will hurt me. You don't need to defend that to me. But who was Billy talking about when he said, if he does that again, I'm going to kill him. It was next time I see him. No, pardon me. Next time I see him, I'm going to kill him.
00:17:39
Speaker
If that, you know what, has he ever said anything like either one of those? I mean, Billy says that every other day. We keep it tally. That conversation would have occurred shortly after Harold was hired as Billy's new valet because Eddie had stolen a large sum of money from Billy and had taken off
00:18:10
Speaker
And Billy... Well, here. And she gets up once again and goes to a different desk and she kind of filters through some papers. Yeah. So Billy left this here. I didn't think it would be of any import, but... And she shows a pawn receipt for some silver.
00:18:41
Speaker
This was some of the effects that Eddie stole from Billy. That Billy was able to track down where it was sold. It was sold at a pawn shop here in Sharn.
00:18:58
Speaker
But what's odd is the name that Eddie obviously didn't give us his real name. When he pawned it, Billy Whitten talked to the pawn shop owner and got a description, and it's clear that it was Eddie doing the pawning. But the name that he gave was Billy Tanner. And that, for some reason, seemed to bother Billy. He wouldn't... Did Billy Tanner have a family?
00:19:28
Speaker
Okay. And I'm assuming I don't even need to ask.

Theater Production Offer

00:19:34
Speaker
I would have picked up on context. She has not seen Eddie since the firing, therefore she would not know if he had any fresh scarring on his face. Yeah, nobody has seen Eddie since he took off, I guess. Except Grace. And that's the other thing, is she would have absolutely recognized Eddie, even with some new scars. Yeah, I mean Eddie was in and out all the time, so yeah. Right.
00:19:57
Speaker
So this has gotta be the other guy, the other shadowy person. But, unless Eddie has a brother. Right? That's super Agatha Christie. We have to catch in some real Benedict Society vibes. And she, as she's walking back, she looks at you hob and kind of just,
00:20:24
Speaker
takes a beat like she's been thinking about saying something, but she hasn't. And she's finally just going to like, there's never going to be a good time to say anything kind of like moments like, I'm sorry. Do you have any experience in the theater?
00:20:43
Speaker
No, no, I don't want to know. I'm not sure I've experienced watching one. Oh, okay. Well, the next show we're producing prominently features a Goliath and you have a good presence about you. So I was just curious. You're not unwilling to learn.
00:21:06
Speaker
Well, we obviously, this is not the appropriate time to have a discussion, but just leave your information and I'll be in touch. I don't have to decide if Hob leaves his information or not. It absolutely doesn't seem like something Hob would do, but it's something Jeff wants Hob to do very badly.
00:21:35
Speaker
So Harris over here dying of ending. You can come to rehearsal. As long as it's OK with Luca, Hop can get you backstage. So that's. I. I came as soon as I heard about Billy the next day, but by that time, the Sharn City Watch were there and there were a lot of people there and it was quite the commotion I
00:22:08
Speaker
If you were going to guess, do you think you would be able to guess who Casa would have had, who Casa Faire would have had watching, Billy? I mean, there are so many people that live in that building that work at the art temple and the theatre owners
00:22:32
Speaker
more so than a lot of us are concerned about reputation and things of that nature and making sure that the people that are in their employ maintain a certain air of acceptability, I guess. And so I'm sure that she has spies everywhere to tattle on.
00:22:57
Speaker
her artists. So, I mean, it could be Billy's Neighbors, it could be, it could be Mandyron, for all I know. Did you know George and Grace, the neighbors across the hall?

Discussing Withdrawal and Drugs

00:23:12
Speaker
I've had some brief interactions with them passing in the hall and in the common area downstairs at the Golden Horn. They seem like nice people. Oh, so you weren't aware of them professionally?
00:23:26
Speaker
I've never worked. No, I'm still exclusively working at the diamond. So I haven't worked with anybody up here in the art temple unless they also came through the diamond. Sure, sure. I should have asked how long they'd live at that apartment.
00:23:43
Speaker
If they moved in concurrently or after Billy, that would sure be a thing. Would you know, would you happen to know who moved into the Golden Horn first, Grace and George or Billy? Oh, Billy's only been there for a handful of months. So certainly Grace and George have been there. Okay. Well, there you go.
00:24:04
Speaker
By all indications, Grace and George have lived there, if not right shortly after it was converted from being an inn into an apartment facility. Right, gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. Well, I'm tapped. I can't think of what else to ask.
00:24:21
Speaker
A question. Milo is obviously not aware of this because Hob's the only one that saw it, but I'm just curious. Is there any sort of a spell that Milo could cast on someone?
00:24:37
Speaker
to help ease their withdrawal symptoms or anything like that? I mean, that Milo could cast? Yes. There's probably some kind of heal as well. Yeah, it would be heal maybe for specifically something that has a magical effect. Withdrawal symptoms, no. Milo might be able to use Dispel to lessen the effects of a magical drug by dampening the magic, but not the withdrawals, no.
00:25:04
Speaker
OK, but OK, how is I'm just curious. Yeah, yeah, yeah. In case we find out. If if we're leaving, I don't want to say anything about it until till we're going, so I'll let anybody else who needs to speak their piece before I do my thing. I can't think of any other questions. Yeah, unless. Unless we're using the old Kylie shortcut, but.
00:25:33
Speaker
Okay, then I think on the way out, after the thanks and the pleasantries, I think Hobb just says a genuine concern because that was the whole reason that he went and busted up that one false hope ring in the first place was like he genuinely does not understand why people take drugs and finds them to be a scourge. Scourge? Scourge. Scourge. Bad. Scourge. Bad. And so I think he says, or he says,
00:26:01
Speaker
I don't mean to overstep my boundaries here, but while I was looking around, I did happen to notice other things you keep in the drawer with your book. And I apologize for noticing it. I genuinely wasn't looking for anything like that. There are better ways and safer ways to overcome grief, and they're longer, and they hurt more.
00:26:31
Speaker
But it'll be better in the long run. And there's no future synthesizing your moods with something like that. I've seen people go zombie and you're just too gifted to deal with it. He doesn't know. He's never seen one of her shows. You're simply too gifted to lose your emotion to something like that and not be able to give the world your stories any longer.
00:26:59
Speaker
Anyway, bye. Thank you. Well, I feel like I have an opportunity now. I think he was saying that as everyone else was leaving. Okay. Yeah. Hob's not going to blow up her spot in front of everybody else as being a drug addict when she's actually been one of the nice or not drug addict, taking drugs right now. Uh, when she's actually been the nicest and one of the most cooperative in PCs, we've had this session. Um,
00:27:29
Speaker
Eris absolutely hangs back because there's no other opportunity to do this. Um, and just kind of stands there breathing. I just, um,
00:27:49
Speaker
I got here with nothing. And I lost everything. And this she sort of fumbles in her pockets and comes out with a really, really battered, folded copy of one of her plays of five lives. This helped. And it made a lot. I wanted to say thank you and
00:28:18
Speaker
Would you sign it? Of course. And she takes it over to a console table and... What's your name? It's... It's Harris.
00:28:44
Speaker
And she writes a short little message and then signs it and takes it back. Have you seen the latest show at the Diamond yet? Sorry, just two nights ago.
00:29:08
Speaker
Good. Well, I will be in attendance just to make an appearance at a production of it next week. And if you would like to, I'll leave some tickets at the door for Eris if you want to see it again.
00:29:38
Speaker
Eris's brain stops working. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Good. That would be very nice.

Planning Next Moves

00:29:50
Speaker
Thank you. And she hands the copy back and I look forward to it.
00:30:05
Speaker
And Eris, just because people have done it probably frequently enough before, um, your jacket did not go unnoticed by Luca. You can tell. So Eris sort of walks away in days clutching the play. Okay. Where to now, gang?
00:30:37
Speaker
I mean, back to Verla maybe. What time is it? Um, probably just past lunch at this point. Um, so early afternoon. Um, so yeah. I mean, we could talk to, we could talk to Harold, but I feel like at this point it's pretty clear the things that we have are Eddie and this doctor.
00:31:06
Speaker
And it seems like those are the two things that we have are Eddie and this doctor. I mean, there's still Klim. That's true. Yeah, I don't know. Here's where Hob is at. Hob, yes, thinks we can talk to Verla. Definitely thinks that Eddie, doctor, whatever is something. Hob still kind of wants to stake out the house and see if
00:31:30
Speaker
Not, not, not stake out the house. Pardon me. Go to that, that enclave where they were, where Tanner was supposed to send off the picture, the paint, the portrait, and see if there's a pockmarked bearded man sitting there hoping to see his quarry get mailed, you know? Cause how else do you get paid? Yeah. I mean on delivery, but yeah. Right. Sure. But someone had to know what was going on to pay him on delivery.
00:32:00
Speaker
Oh, I meant like when the thing actually gets there. Yeah, I mean, that's. But yes, I do think the talking to Verla is not a bad idea, but if nothing else, we can put her on to a couple of things. Yeah, she can investigate one other thing. By virtue of your connection with the Boromar clan that you would know.
00:32:25
Speaker
after Joey Ace of Lower Dura, you would know that Silver Mist is an inn slash entertainment facility that is owned secretly by the Boromar clan.
00:32:49
Speaker
in that district. So you all would have friends there that you could call on to get some information on the street in Lower Dura as well. That's just another avenue you have that you can take. The proprietor of Silver Mist is Jix, J-I-X. She is a changeling.
00:33:14
Speaker
Um, and, uh, and Sally on S A L L E O N. Um, they, they take turns. Um, or sorry, those are the, yeah, they take turns performing at silver mist. Um, Jix specialties are one-woman ballets and operas and Sally on is an illusionist, but so.
00:33:55
Speaker
I mean, I mean, I can see watching a single ballerina. Well, but it's especially with a changeling, you could have all the different and you could obviously manipulate your vocal folds as a changeling. So you could be different. It would just be one character at a time, which would be weird. I don't think that's how changelings work, because if that's how changing works, I'm sure I would have done a much better job of doing that sort of stuff during the first campaign and really would have done it all the time in great effect instead of forgetting what I can do all the time.
00:34:16
Speaker
confused by the concept of trying to work out solo operas.
00:34:24
Speaker
Um, so you were talking about staking out the civis enclave. Um, I like that idea. I also like talking to Verla. I don't think that I don't see why there's not time for both, um, in the day, maybe in this episode. Yeah. Um, yeah. So which one would you like to do first?
00:34:49
Speaker
Oh, what do you think, fella? Uh, Raynard, do you feel like going and talking to... You don't wanna go see your friend today, or... Wait, do we have some more information? Oh, you know, I do love my friends. I... I suppose if... Joey was... Oh, man. I suppose if Joey was gonna go... was expected to go drop it off after stealing it, then getting there sooner and seeing whether we find our guy is better than later,
00:35:19
Speaker
Yeah, I thought about that. I don't know if it was a Let the heat die down and then bring it here this morning or if it was a yeah, but to the We didn't ask that Joey doesn't strike me as the kind of person who would have planned well enough to You know lay low for a bit let the heat die down and then go for it Joey strikes me as the kind of guy who All right, I'm gonna walk straight to the bank with this sack of cash. It's not without being told otherwise now the issue with that is I
00:35:48
Speaker
Joey would have made it there and been gone by now with how long we went and went to go see Luca and talk with her.
00:36:00
Speaker
You know, maybe the longer... I mean, we could go, we could go stake the thing out and then go see Verla when she, you know, when she is done with work. Maybe the longer Joey doesn't show up, the more likely it is that somebody's going to be standing around waiting for him to show up with

Stakeout and Chase

00:36:15
Speaker
it. That's also possible. On a behind the scenes note, do we want to try it in this episode on a button or a cliffhanger?
00:36:26
Speaker
I don't know because I don't know if there's gonna be anything in the stakeout or not. If we're doing both of them, I think we do the stakeout and then we go find Verla after her shift. Because if we find the guy in the stakeout, then we might not need to go see Verla. If we don't find the guy in the stakeout, then Verla will be just as available to us as she is right now. I like that train of thought. Yep. Let's do it.
00:36:56
Speaker
OK, so the there are civics enclaves all over the city, especially in the upper districts, because it's the post office. So the very it's the FedEx of it's the fancy post office. So, yeah, you all are.
00:37:19
Speaker
There is one in Upper Memphis, which is presumably where Billy would have gone. Sure. So go ahead and give me a collective group stealth check. So who has the highest cunning?
00:37:39
Speaker
It's probably Raynard or maybe Eris. Eris is three. He's not even in my skill list. That's an attribute. I have a three as well. I've got a yellow and two green when I rolled out. That makes a difference. Yellow and two green.
00:37:59
Speaker
So you have one rock in stealth. I don't imagine Milo and Bob have a bunch of stealth. Also, stealth is agility. Oh, okay. Sorry. Who has the highest agility? I'm still just hanging out at the bottom. Probably not me. I bet it is. I bet it is. Because you have three. Agility? Oh, I have three. Milo, what's your agility?
00:38:26
Speaker
Uh, yes. Agility two. Two. Okay. So three agility two. So Raynard, it looks like your stealth is just going to be the best combination for the group as a whole. Okay. Um, go ahead and roll stealth so that you all can blend in and not draw any unwarranted attention. Against what?
00:38:51
Speaker
I'm going to make it a two purple difficulty and, um, yeah. Would you like to flip story point at a yellow or to change a green into a yellow? Yeah, we have three. Why not? Okay. Okay. Here we go. Oh, one failure, three advantage.
00:39:10
Speaker
Oh my gosh. Yeah, that happened. There's not a good place is the problem. It's kind of out in the open and it's daytime.
00:39:27
Speaker
Hobbes real big. It's so handsome. It's hard to take your eyes off. It's so handsome and just has this presence that just like screams theatrical arts. He's the hot new ingenue on the stage.

You obviously don't know that if anybody was seeking about, they saw you, but you don't see anything. If anybody was going to, they saw some suspicious looking folk and... Well, I was gonna say, we can't use that advantage to say we got spotted, but we see him spot us. Okay. So that it's a chase, not an ambush. Okay.
00:40:20
Speaker
Yeah, I'll let you use the advantage to say, as you all, they're standing around kind of trying to look casual, sitting in an outdoor coffee shop reading papers with holes. It's just the least. I've got one foot up on the wall for some reason, like people do when they're being casual. Arms crossed, one foot on the wall. I brought a bird, and I don't know.
00:40:47
Speaker
Did you get this bird found it Eris is trying smoking again to look you've got to knock it off exactly the same result Eris it's going to be bad every time and the real problem is when it stops being bad
00:41:07
Speaker
Everyone in place, it seems like everyone thinks it's, and when I see, they just seem so relaxed by it, and I just... Look, it's always gonna look really cool, but it's always gonna be really awful. I don't feel like I look very cool, but no!
00:41:27
Speaker
You all spot a rounding the corner and not like walking to the enclave, but they were clearly like sent to lurk about. You see a female half elf that like sees you all and like kind of squints and like looks around and goes wide eyed and then they turn like very obviously like
00:41:55
Speaker
Yeah, they know that you're there for some nefarious reason, and they- Hey, let's chase that stranger. Did they run or they just kind of walk off? No, they go to run. They go to- Okay. Yeah, we're chasing strangers. That's unfortunate. Let's go. Yeah, because that's the problem, is this could very well be an Eric Red Herring, but if somebody runs, we're going to chase the stranger. Yeah, I mean, they spotted you, went wide-eyed, and then turned and booked it. You're going to want to stop.
00:42:30
Speaker
Vigilance Everyone yes Unless you're unless you're gonna stay and play with your bird I Could stay and keep watching I Mean it's it's either go or don't we don't have time to play. Yeah, so well here I go and I already rolled so I'm going Okay
00:42:48
Speaker
Hey, okay. So first up is a PC slot. They are about, they are a short range away from you, you all. So one maneuver to catch up.
00:43:01
Speaker
Can I catch up as a maneuver and then You know what? I'd like to catch up as a maneuver take another two strain to focus which is what we're calling aims. I don't have a gun and Yeah, just try to tackle can I use my brawl as a tackle check that sure, okay
00:43:28
Speaker
Oh boy. So let me pop my strain up to two just so I don't forget it. And that gives me a boost die. And what's my difficulty?
00:43:38
Speaker
Uh, since we're doing it like as a melee check, it would be too purple. Now, just be clear for expectations. Like if you succeed on this, you will tackle them. They're not going to be like restrained or immobilized or like, it'll take more than that to like wrap them up. Understood. You're, you're taking them, you're trying to take them to the ground, basically. Right. Yeah. Trying to impede their movement and get the ground. And if it hurts them a little too, then all the better. Here's the role.
00:44:05
Speaker
To success, to advantage. So since I specifically said I wanted to tackle, am I allowed to do damage or do you just want to call it a tackle? No, it's just a tackle. That's why you're not punching. Okay, so she kind of stumbles forward and goes down on hands and knees as you tackle to advantage.
00:44:28
Speaker
I mean, what sort of restraining can I do for two advantage is, I guess, my question, because that's what I would like to use them for. What? I mean, can I grab a wrist and hold on? Can I just stay on top of her until somebody catches up? Doesn't your sestus have the disorient quality? Only if Eris gave it to me. I cannot recall. I don't have a...
00:44:57
Speaker
I thought Sestis just generally did, but I don't know. Sestis disorient 3. Disorient 3. Meaning they're disoriented for three rounds, I think is what that means. So I can use two advantage to invoke disorient 3 and disorient them for three rounds? Yes, and that would just add a black dye to all the skill checks they perform.
00:45:17
Speaker
What is wild is that it's not anywhere on my character sheet with my weapon. And I didn't type that one in manually. Okay. Well, it's about to be typed in manually, but I believe it. Okay. Okay. Yeah, I'd like to do that. Let's use my two advantage to disorient her for three rounds. Okay. Um, so yeah, like her, her head kind of hits the concrete and she... Oh, can we not have that happen? Why not? I can just say she got startled.
00:45:47
Speaker
the air out of her. Next PC slot. So something has occurred to me and I would like to take this slot and have Eris jump into Tasha and swing around close to where Hob is. Okay. I mean
00:46:14
Speaker
If you're just hopping into Tasha and doing a simple, like, moving her over here, that's not really gonna require a check. That's just your action. That's what I would like to use for my... So you're basically trying to block her path with the boat? No, I'm trying to bring Tasha into a place where we can throw this person in Tasha and leave. Okay, next PC slot. Reinhardt, Milo? I guess we're hopping in Tasha. Who would like to go?
00:46:40
Speaker
Wow, go ahead and go, I guess. Would you like to do your super cool shadow net again? Yeah, I mean, that seems to be a good idea. Okay. To attempt. I'm going to flip story point. So one red for purple difficulty. One red for purple. Insture Arcana. That's a lot of dice. So man, flip it back and get me a greenie. What the what?
00:47:07
Speaker
five success, six threat, and two triumphs. That is the most threat we have ever. You all are lucky that the triumphs rolled to outdo it. He rolled more success in that role than I have cumulatively in our last two sessions.
00:47:26
Speaker
Okay. So five success. So the shadow net wraps around her and she is paralyzed. Once again, weird. She can still move, but she can't take actions. Um, I guess the net is around her arm so she can like run, run with her three feet. Um, okay. So six threat, two triumphs. Um,
00:47:56
Speaker
I know what I'm inclined to use the threat for, if you all would like me to reveal that first, and then you all can deal with your triumphs. Six threat is near despair worthy, if not outright despair worthy. So I'm going to say, Milo, you decided to play it safe this time, it went well last time, and you cast a bit too wide of a net. Hob, you were also hit by the spell.
00:48:24
Speaker
And it does what to me? I'll need to hear it again. You are staggered, so you cannot take actions as long as Milo is concentrating on this spell. And you're under the normal effect of curse, which is you decrease the ability of any skill checks made by one.
00:48:41
Speaker
which you can't take actions so I guess that you can't take skill checks then anyway. So yeah, Net falls over her and Hob and they are like frozen. You can still move though, you just can't take actions. Two triumphs, two.

Cliffhanger Ending

00:49:01
Speaker
I don't know if there's anything we can do with those triumphs to get her into our ship.
00:49:09
Speaker
Seeing the dire situation she's in, the fake doctor runs from a nearby building to help. Oh, man. That's two triumphs, baby. I mean, could we get her into the skiff, into Tasha? It feels like we could do that without a trial. Yeah. I can't help, but you guys could.
00:49:40
Speaker
Raynard probably get her in there and let's ask her in there first Hob Hob shares Dex's rule of just don't touch people unless you absolutely must Fighting is a must You just tackled a stranger
00:50:02
Speaker
I think I had to tackle her We don't have to physically lift her into the boat if we can just tell her you really need to get this boat It's not gonna well for you if you don't This is an important side conversation What do you do with you try I mean Yeah, we can conjure the fake doctor. I'm down with it, but I don't know if that's an option here
00:50:27
Speaker
only one person can answer that question yeah so and it's the internet what do you think fellas let us know let us know tweet it Eric comment down below I got like five minutes yeah I know um timely triumphs yeah
00:50:48
Speaker
Yeah. So because what about like Verla shows up and says, hey, we got a new suspect. He's got a beard. And we don't want another show up and tell us what we know. That'd be great. No, but she has him. Oh, yeah. Oh, she's already. But we saw it into custody. Let that person go, please. We're done. We kind of can't. He confessed.
00:51:18
Speaker
Okay, so, yeah, with those two triumphs, since Raynard, you're the only one that hasn't acted yet, you let your bird go and it takes off into the sky. I didn't really bring a bird. Nope, you said it was hit by a skyshoes. A parrot, just...
00:51:38
Speaker
It was a flamingo, but whatever, fine. You see coming out of a door near where you all are. It was like a shop of some kind. You see an individual kind of walking out casually and they turn and look in your all's direction and they go wide-eyed and you see a dark-haired
00:52:05
Speaker
bearded individual with some pockmark scarring, and he kind of sees the situation and turns to take off the opposite direction, Reynard. You see this, um, and not- Hob hops up, falls over, uh, Gilim?
00:52:21
Speaker
Um, and yeah, he, no, um, he's not trying to casually walk away. He takes off running. Um, and the door that you all saw, that you saw him walk through was, uh, medium distance, like medium range band away. Um, so yeah. And that's where we're going to leave this episode, um, on a cliffhanger. Um,
00:52:47
