But enough about us, enough about me. We're here for a reason tonight. That song we open up tonight with is by pretty cool kick-ass young band called Undefeated. And I believe their motto is your new favorite band. So I'm going to go ahead and bring them up.
00:08:11
Speaker
What's going on, guys? hopefully Hopefully we got all the kinks worked out. I'm good on my end, so hopefully hopefully we're good. I'm good you guys.
00:08:23
Speaker
We have Christian, Meredith, and Lise. I'll let you guys figure out who's who. Take a guess. yeah You guys are all on your own. What's going on, Chatter's Box? We see you guys in there. They're already giving you guys love. Great song from Hans, a good friend of ours.
00:08:46
Speaker
And Chaka saying hi to everyone. um We were talking backstage. I'm sorry. um Unfortunately, you guys are up there and you're getting snowed on and I'm complaining about my weather here. It's part of living in the North Country. I don't like it, but it's something you deal with. Snow is definitely quiet place.
00:09:09
Speaker
Yeah, I agree. I'm i'm down in oh i'm ah down in Ohio. and i'm i' a You guys got you know you got the big rock star status. You should be able to go somewhere warmer.
00:09:22
Speaker
I listen, I very much fully intend to. my my favorite ever i really want to move there, but driving wise is just as far from everything as upstate New York is.
00:09:37
Speaker
So we're kind of looking time center. It doesn't like anything of 45 degrees. I'm such a winter person. It's crazy. ah We are slowly, slowly.
00:09:53
Speaker
and Slowly. oh yeah We've been traveling all this summer to very hot places and plenty in like 107 degree weather. So we come home and he's cold.
00:10:04
Speaker
So we'll get him. You're one step closer. you know i lived down south for about years.
Meet the Band: Undefeated
00:10:12
Speaker
And once I start feeling, felt like 50 degrees was cold, I knew I was, I was just a little, was like, I'm home. Okay. Did it take while? Like back? Yeah.
00:10:21
Speaker
Yeah. did it takea so like that yeah when not when i When I came back up to Ohio, I was down in South Carolina. When I came back up, it took me it took me about three or four winters to get used to the cold again. and even still I've never liked the cold, don't get me wrong, but I really don't like it these days. man so i'm just old I'm just old. When you get old, your body starts to hurt. You guys will get there one day. Unfortunately.
00:10:54
Speaker
um So are you, now this is probably kind of a silly question, but I'm going to ask before I assume, because I've learned lessons on here.
00:11:06
Speaker
Are you guys all siblings? Yes. Obviously. for that
00:11:17
Speaker
yeah I've assumed things before and I was a hundred percent wrong. um Who's the oldest?
00:11:27
Speaker
but so So you're in charge. I'm like the oldest of everybody. I've seen on your guys' website that you've got a mom and dad got a whole ah whole, almost a whole baseball team.
00:11:47
Speaker
You've got a starting lineup for a basketball team at this point in time. Oh, I have six. You're right. ask you do oh yes right Yeah, yeah, you got yeah, hockey. Yeah, you could do hockey as well. So and does does everybody in the family do music or just?
00:12:06
Speaker
Not really. Yeah, like listening to music. The youngest is the only one who has really been playing a lot of piano. They have dabbled, but not done anything other than, well, I learned this, if that makes sense. That's it, yeah.
00:12:25
Speaker
ah but thanks I learned something new today. Yeah, whatever. you Get out of here. We just finished an album. Congratulations. you ah what's a So I'm always curious because you see, you hear the horror stories, obviously, like of bands you know oasis god i hope we never see them on tour again but you know you hear horror stories of siblings do you guys run into that uh any kind of s civil sibling rivalry or or button heads when you're doing music or anything i know christian reading your guys's website you've got kind of a heavy metal th thrasher in you
00:13:08
Speaker
but I asked that question bit actually. Our response was always like, not really. To be honest, we know a lot of people that struggle with that. I feel like family aspect makes it so much easier for us, like, on the road. And just, you kind of grew up, like, living around each other.
00:13:29
Speaker
So you kind of already get annoyed by them. So you just deal with it on the road even more. Like, is what it is. thank We are, big litter I close this neighbor, one person next door and that's an elderly couple and then close this neighbor.
00:13:43
Speaker
I don't even know, we might have two can kids, three kids, four kids. We have a farmland country, so we had each other as friends. Those are farmland.
00:13:56
Speaker
And our mom, we would ask, be like can I have someone celebrate? She'd say, no, go play with your brother. but That's going to be your friend for a while. yeah yeah so we're also right no these are our friends i mean we have other friends obviously now but i think when we were young that really and but like and
00:14:17
Speaker
ah i know't I know what it's like, that country life. it's It can get boring. And I had four sisters. I just didn't like them. So I had that ah had to find other things to entertain my time. um Hans asked in the chat, he said, he wants to know, are you guys inspired by any certain music or artists? Or did you just kind of come up with your sound on your own?
00:14:47
Speaker
Oh, was going let you that kind of start. We can talk about our writing process. I definitely start. and so love Hayley Williams.
00:15:00
Speaker
10th Avenue North was my favorite band for a long time. I got into bands first by listening to Love 7. um Right now I love. and yeah of I definitely have different aspects of different writers. I always say I'm vocalist first and foremost.
00:15:20
Speaker
I play guitar because we don't have other guitars at the moment. ah And so I always tend to listen any, it doesn't matter what genre for me, really, as long as it has difficult, I listen to it.
00:15:32
Speaker
And so I take a lot of writing inspiration just how they say words or how they use a quote that was so much deeper than the four words said in. I'll write from there, acoustically usually, bring it to him.
00:15:49
Speaker
I'll take this song and then I'll metal it up. I'll add breakdown to the drums and then we'll kind of get more of a solid, like actual feel and grit to this song. I feel um um people acoustic yeah and ah all like metal it out.
00:16:07
Speaker
definitely listen heavier stuff than she does more um eighty s medal province now I love that kind of stuff.
00:16:20
Speaker
Definitely she brings it to me. I add more toms, but then it really fills out with rocks this song. And then after we kind of get a nice bass, we can read to you a little bit.
00:16:31
Speaker
You kind of. I typically do. I kind of play what Meredith's playing, but matched up to the drums. So like I'll play the same notes, but I'm matched up with his kick, stairs, the bar, whatever.
00:16:43
Speaker
Yeah. well And kind of moves from there. The first songs I keep voice memos all the time. So have a acting on my notes from voice memos.
00:16:59
Speaker
And here versus the released version, you're like, it's what is that? Are those even the same words? and You can't even tell it's different song. Oh, wow. We have all of our styles and kind turns into what undefeated sounds like.
00:17:19
Speaker
Nice. Hey, hey. That's cool that you guys all just kind of just do your own thing and then kind of make magic happen. Yeah.
00:17:31
Speaker
That's... ah I'm just playing with settings over here. Sorry. yeah that's I like that you guys all kind of have your own style, your own you know, your different styles of music that you listen to and kind of, you know, probably come into some sort of way and influence the way that you perform and and the way that you make music. So have you guys all always been into music or is it just just something that I was like, hey, I can actually sing pretty well.
00:17:58
Speaker
Let me take this out of the shower. Yeah, I remember when first started singing. don't really know when you first started singing. I feel like I just always did it. ah My mom told story. I begged for piano lessons, apparently. So they gave me eight weeks for a birthday gift, and I hated it.
00:18:16
Speaker
I did not like the theory, I did not like learning the notes, I did not do it. um And so I did those eight weeks, but at the end of them, my teacher did a Christmas showcase and had me play the little drummer boy up in front of our church.
00:18:29
Speaker
And unbeknownst to mom and her, I was practicing an RP and I was singing along with it. And I was like, I can do this. I'm just gonna keep doing it. And I love to sing. I don't know. I don't remember realizing, I love to sing. I just love doing it.
00:18:43
Speaker
And right before I went on stage, I turned to them say it? And they're like, I guess, like eight-year-old me, they're like, sure. So they put up a mic and I sang the whole thing and sang it through. And peep I just remember my mom tells a story of different family members coming up. I'm like, you know, she can sing.
00:19:00
Speaker
Mom, first kid, she's like, no, can she? that a thing? I didn't even, I didn't take lessons until I think I was in my teens. and And then I did year to figure out what your vocal cords do.
00:19:16
Speaker
um Now I love piano. I found a teacher at that age who taught me chords and how to play while I've been doing my own thing And then it three different times for a step.
00:19:32
Speaker
thirteen four i tried the three different times of riskt and you YouTube to save the day.
00:19:43
Speaker
but so with for they ah rough is history we pay youtube to save the day Yeah, you know me?
00:19:54
Speaker
So I kind of started at a young, young age, but we were definitely sheltered growing up, and like its type of music we listened to was called CDM, or some great Christian music, which is very light.
00:20:07
Speaker
ah More like Tom work for drummers. Yeah, it's definitely more worship drums. And I don't really know when I started drumming, my parents were really old, crappy drums that I do.
00:20:18
Speaker
the Like, off of school, like, back garage, it was like the shiftiest look. Oh, yes yeah. Yeah. I mean, even when I learned how to, like,
00:20:35
Speaker
it was just like ooh um I played that, ah loved it.
Tour Challenges and Humorous Road Stories
00:20:40
Speaker
and so And I ended up on my membership, kind of when I was really, really young, like 13, 14-ish.
00:20:49
Speaker
And then we went to a rock concert. It was the first concert I ever went to. like Full screen, people in your face. like I was like, I love this. I want to do this. I kind of learned a whole new world drumming. We didn't realize how extreme drumming can go. I'm like, oh this is awesome. so yeah kind of dove into that headfirst. We look
00:21:23
Speaker
we a little different. that's it I loved listening to music, but I did not want to listen to music. I had no intention, just not listening.
00:21:33
Speaker
I was like, do not listen to my thing. Oh, it's not thing. i guess not There was doing bass lessons. I was like, I'm in school.
00:21:50
Speaker
Over the summer, I'm doing nothing. Why? So I used Meredith's old And within my first three lessons, loved it. For some others, I just loved it. Like three months later, and now everybody. Yeah, our basses at the time, ah we were just playing word of mouth shows.
00:22:12
Speaker
And so, you know, so money but And he picked up people like 40 hours a week and said, hey, guys, let me do this. yeah And so that's when we looked at each other and said, I think we really want to do this for the rest of our lives.
00:22:27
Speaker
So but we started promoting and treating it as a business and realizing, oh, if we want to make a go for this, we have to put in the work.
00:22:38
Speaker
And so she goes, hey, you're going to play with us now. Put your fingers for the song. What do you want to say? Oh, I literally wished off the deep end and told the slam. I well. Not really started calling.
00:23:04
Speaker
know i based all yeah thank you thank your make your way through it at the end of the day um i want to do something i got a couple comments and a couple messages your guys is i wasn't sure was on my end but your guys's mics are breaking up real bad so i don't know i want to take out just take a real quick break yeah on your guys's end so you just want to maybe refresh your feed if you're a laptop or on a cell phone or whatever We'll take a real quick break. We'll play a little.
00:23:35
Speaker
No worries. Like I said, um I've seen it and done it all at this point, so nothing is going to surprise me. See if that helps and clears up your guys' mics real quick. so Yeah, we'll play a little.
00:23:48
Speaker
We'll play another real quick song. Thank you, guys. I wasn't sure if it was coming through. i could hear it good, and I had a just couple breakups, but I wasn't sure how was sounding on your guys' end. We'll see how it comes back.
00:24:00
Speaker
Let's try that. like this same tell but so us now um Sounds like it's still kind of broken up a little bit.
00:24:12
Speaker
Let me try. get terrible reception up here.
00:24:20
Speaker
and we a terrible receptle up here yeah say usually usually Yeah, usually the the biggest the biggest problem we might run into is like connection.
00:24:32
Speaker
With internet connection, sometimes it'll cause it to drag and stuff a little bit. Is that better? Is that better? Yeah, that actually does sound a little bit better now.
00:24:45
Speaker
Okay, I'll try this. We'll use my phone and the mic. There you go. We'll see if that works. Like said, it might be a connection issue. There might be a connection issue as well, and I can actually adjust your mic volume too, so hopefully that'll help.
00:25:03
Speaker
So hopefully. I don't want to derail the whole thing. Like I said, we've i I've gone through the gambit with technical difficulties with guests and stuff like that, so and on my own end. Obviously, as you guys seen right before we started tonight, my internet took a crap, so. I appreciate the understanding, too. We're literally the second last house on our own get my hat off. Yeah.
00:25:27
Speaker
We're trying our best. yeah I totally get it. I totally understand. Trust me. um Yeah, so you guys, you just got to...
00:25:40
Speaker
before Elise just got thrown right into the, right into the Wolfstein, man. She's like, yeah we need a basis. hey You can play a couple songs. Here you go. Now we're going on tour. Surprise. Yeah. That's exactly how it went.
00:25:54
Speaker
My mom's first time, our very first tour, we went for a month. And it was with a group called, and how old were you? and my I was 16, so it's only played for like a year at that point.
00:26:10
Speaker
Yeah, if you were 16, that makes me 20? 20. Something like that. I don't remember, but my mom was very much like, I don't know about guys. You're 16 and 19 years old, you're going across the country in my heart.
00:26:26
Speaker
ah I mean, they they are, and we are proud to say that the car remained safe. and We remained very safe, and we got a little bit of a trailer. Yeah, the trailer, on the other hand, broke like three times.
Touring Experiences and Family Support
00:26:43
Speaker
Oh, no. By the way, I was in Ohio.
00:26:51
Speaker
and michael but i blame I blame the roads. I blame the roads. I know they're trash here. oh i I know. I just seen that. I seen you guys were just in Ohio not too long ago. You guys were up in Canton.
00:27:06
Speaker
What, a couple weeks ago? Something like that. Yeah, last week in Akron. Yeah. ah yeah um How was it called? was a good year. That's all I heard. Wasn't it?
00:27:18
Speaker
No. I'm lost. and and Man, the message is over, like, back to work. So, but you know, it goes, everything.
00:27:30
Speaker
ask, like, what's your next show? What's your next show? Like, I tape one week at a time, man. always say, remember people's faces. Like, I the faces.
00:27:40
Speaker
but say i say i remember pet remember people's faces like i remember the face but I don't remember the places. Like I don't remember. and ah letter thats That's actually very cool. You have connections.
00:27:56
Speaker
I think more so than a building. Yeah. No, I heard that. Yeah, no, that's, that's, i think that's more important at the end of the day to be able to connect with your fans and, and and make memories that way rather than going, Oh yeah, we were in, uh,
00:28:12
Speaker
Chattanooga, Tennessee and went to this real crappy bar.
00:28:17
Speaker
And that's what you remember. for you know You don't remember you had a lot of cool fans there. that were you know So yeah, definitely take that over ah or anything else. Unfortunately, you know i think i think I think being in a band and traveling, having the car issues or trailer issues or bus issues and stuff like that, that's just that's just kind of part of being ah living the rock star life at the end of the day.
00:28:38
Speaker
You're going to have those issues. People are like, oh, no for ah ah and yeah, radiator. Rockstar.
00:28:50
Speaker
Yeah. here it Yeah. It's something. It really is. but and it Yeah. You're meeting so like, it's fantastic.
00:29:05
Speaker
so that's got That's got to be cool. you know especially if you're Especially if you're a people person.
00:29:13
Speaker
All right, so apparently I'm thinking it might be you guys might be having a connection issue because I'm still getting messages that you guys are breaking
00:29:27
Speaker
See we're gonna work through these eventually we're gonna figure them out this We made it through a James look I had the same issue with Jay another guest I had on this show I had the same issue with him But we worked through we powered through
00:29:43
Speaker
see what happens.
00:29:50
Speaker
For those guys who don't know, you're just joining in. We are hanging out with Undefeated. a
00:30:00
Speaker
They are all siblings, and they are a rock band. And then they make some kick-ass music. And Meredith has an insane Freaking voice so if you guys haven't heard any of their music ah go ahead and run along and check that out. Oh, here we go. We got to try this Oh Now we don't have no sounds
00:30:32
Speaker
it I Don't worry guys I promise you this is not the worst of it all in I Still got no sound
00:30:57
Speaker
How do you make it work? I've been there before. I've done a show solo and been talking for five minutes and nobody said anything to me.
00:31:16
Speaker
No, actually what I will, I'm going to here, I can, I started to do it earlier.
00:31:26
Speaker
on a second. They might have beat me to the punch. Okay. Can you hear us? Now I got sound. Okay.
00:31:37
Speaker
Yes. Okay. And it sounds better. Okay. okay Christian's um texting everybody in the house saying, get off the Wi-Fi.
00:31:50
Speaker
Get off the Wi-Fi. We told them all. You can't have two people on at once. it The TV's even on. We're like, guys, get off.
00:32:02
Speaker
It's a nightmare.
00:32:05
Speaker
Yeah, I totally understand. i you know My internet's the same way. Usually, i we'll be here and got TV on the living room, TV on upstairs.
00:32:16
Speaker
My son's playing Xbox. Plus everybody's got every device known to mankind on the Wi-Fi. And I'm like, I just need like two hours, guys. Can I yeah can i have two hours, please? You'll survive without Call a Duty for a couple of Yeah.
00:32:35
Speaker
go time rest Literally, our video brother, I knocked on the door earlier. I'm like, you have to get off your video games in 30 minutes. And I was like, you have to get off in 15 minutes. And he goes, I hear you. like okay There we go.
00:32:51
Speaker
Somebody in the background. Somebody in the background that can't play Mario. And I remember growing up, we didn't know how I'll date myself a little bit. growing up when ah we didn't wow i' update myself a little bit The internet was brand new when I was in high school. So if somebody was on the internet, there was no using the phone. and Unfortunately, we didn't have like online gaming or anything like that. but if Was it like dialogue?
00:33:20
Speaker
yeah Oh, yeah. ah theres horrific sound The most horrific sound you'll ever hear in your life. And there was no sneaking on the computer either because if you got on the computer, everybody in the house knew you were getting on the computer. so But it would if you were um if you were online that took out the phone and everything. So it's just like, or you were doing something online and somebody picked up the phone, it just killed it.
00:33:44
Speaker
So, I mean, okay. The stone ages of internet, if you will. yeah ah but So I totally understand the struggle. And it doesn't make matters nothing, especially if you guys are out in the country. you know It makes it that much harder.
00:33:58
Speaker
You know you can't got to do what you can and when you're when you're way out there. just thought just go to a local McDonald's. We'll be all right. yeah You know you say that, but I had a guest do that one night.
00:34:10
Speaker
He literally, we were we were having issues, and he was like, Screw it. I'm going there's a McDonald's two houses down. I'm going to McDonald's and he did he went out and he sat in his car and hooked up to their Wi-Fi and we did the interview yeah ah He's gone now Oh, he's back Oh, there we go but There we go Yep, he just froze up i was like, we hear Okay, we can hear you
00:34:43
Speaker
yeah no It just froze up for a second. so Yeah, so like I said, I've seen it, been through it all here on this show. Trust me, there's nothing that's... I used to get so rattled and thrown off my game that it would just be like, so who are you again? What are we doing? Why are you on my show?
00:34:59
Speaker
but No, so don't worry about that. ah We were talking about you guys going on tour and stuff, and you guys look like you got a pretty busy summer ahead of So... do Yeah, I do all of the booking and managing, so I'm constantly, constantly doing that.
00:35:16
Speaker
Um, we have a lot of announcements that we're going drop probably in the next month or two, um, which need to finish all the routing. Cause you know, do it hard. park Somebody said they can take you and I'm like crap for 10 hours away. Okay. Can you do this? Oh, okay. But they're moving now. So, you know, everything shifts shifts.
00:35:32
Speaker
So yeah, we definitely have a ah good, a good summer planned out. I am very excited. We're hitting some new, some new States. um I don't, i can't announce it yet, unfortunately, because they haven't announced theirs, which means my lips are sealed. But we are going further west than we've ever gone. We are going further south than we've ever gone.
00:35:50
Speaker
So, well, we've gone to Mexico, so maybe not further down the east coast than we've ever played, I'll say. Okay, there go ah you go. you go. Nice. Well, hopefully got the car. Car's all in shape.
00:36:02
Speaker
Trailer's taken care of and all squared away. Oh, yeah. kind of ah It is for right now. No, it's the best vehicle ever. We named him Chauncey.
00:36:13
Speaker
He's our... Chauncey Jr. The white knight. What? Yeah. 15 patches. Sucker's awesome. hey There you go yeah and then That makes it better. You guys aren't all crammed in on top of each other either. you can kind of yeah so nice you're annoying me You're annoying me. I'm going all the way to the back.
00:36:35
Speaker
that was so That was actually a really funny story because we were in an eight-passenger van, which was just our family's vehicle. And when our trailer broke, we fit. And we all we had a little, it

00:36:46
Speaker
wasn't like a full trailer. It was one of those little back ones that could hold like four bins. But it broke in Ohio. And so we had a 14-hour drive.
00:36:55
Speaker
a 12th and then a 14th. don't know. It was a long drive. We had haul those next couple days. No, it was a 24th because it was Texas EPA. Right. Wait, no, it broke. I can't remember it. either way we had a very long drive but so lee sat with all of the like a couple of the bins i had a bed on my lap and i was already like this in the car with the window in another bin on the other literally ah couldn't move a muscle and we were like hey how you doing you just see like you don't even see your eyes you just see like her forehead just that so the 15 passenger van was an incredible blessing i have a whole bunch to lay out and yeah we have on got a bunch of the benches in the back to fit stuff but yeah actually this is all of them it's it's a blessing
00:37:41
Speaker
board Well, I see, and I was looking, I was looking at the, yeah I was looking at your agenda, your your tour date, and I know you you had one more. You guys are going to venture back into Ohio. It's to be determined as of right now.
00:37:55
Speaker
You'll have to let me know um because I'm like right in central Ohio. So north to Cleveland is two hours. South to Cincinnati is two hours. East and west to the borders is two hours. So if you come in and into Ohio, we'll come and see you guys live and and what Yeah, please do. That'd be so cool. I know we were playing a festival. was just announced. I think it's Undead Revival Festival. And so that is in October 11th, I believe. Oh, that's right after my birthday.
00:38:26
Speaker
Happy birthday. Happy birthday. Yeah, exactly. The first one so yeah exactly the first one is want now yeah so i Oh, sorry.
00:38:40
Speaker
is is that here in Ohio or? It is in Ohio. I can't remember. um Actually, hang on. I can look right now. It's a name that is so familiar to me. And every time I see it, I'm like, right, that's where it is.
00:38:52
Speaker
um It's really far. Wow. October. literally have it as Ohio in my calendar. So never mind.
00:39:03
Speaker
<unk>re not when to get there ah yeah It's something. what's ah What's the music fest called again? Undead Revival. um Ottawa County Fairgrounds, Oak Harbor.
00:39:17
Speaker
har why do Why does that sound so cool? It's good question. yeah We got all these little villages and towns in Ohio and I'm like, I have no idea where that is. And then I look at it and I'm like, oh, I know right where that's at.
00:39:31
Speaker
Oh, yeah, that's up by Cedar Point. Oh, yeah, that's like it. Okay. I know what I'm doing for my birthday. We're going to come see you on the feed. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We're really excited for that one. That'll be a fun one. Yeah. That'll be cool.
00:39:45
Speaker
ah That's a cool area, too, up there in northern Ohio. it's Like I said, it's up by Lake Erie and Cedar Point and all that stuff. Yeah. You know, like my fiance and I, we we enjoy road trips. She's originally from PA. So, I mean, we we go back and forth well once a month, if not more than that. It's like a three-hour drive. So I told her, said, this year what I want to do with doing this show, any of the artists that come within three hours or show of the house, we're going to go on a road trip. She's like,
00:40:12
Speaker
I thought I was going to get a little pushback, but she was like, all right, cool. Because we're all about the random weekend road trips. And, you know, even if we don't leave like Ohio or Pennsylvania, we went and seen a guy in Indiana and we acted like tourists there the whole weekend. It was a cool little town and he performed there. And we were just like, go eat at the local joints. And, you know, so I'll keep an eye out. I'll keep an eye out for that one.
00:40:36
Speaker
Good to meet you in person. Yeah.
00:40:39
Speaker
that's I come and I hang out. I'm hard to miss. I'm a big giant Sasquatch. I'm hard to miss. so um One of the things that you guys do that I find really cool, and in in you see you don't see a lot of artists take advantage of this, but you guys vlog, which is really cool, but you guys also do like all the silly little videos, right?
00:41:06
Speaker
uh little reels and and and stuff like that and i i think it's fun obviously you you've got the you've got a new song coming out what next month yeah there weeks yeah weeks next may yeah may 9th we just announced that today yeah may 9th i did see that seen that today actually um but yeah and you guys are having fun with like promoting it and and putting it out there and and and and putting the videos and stuff and i think that's really cool um is it just I think it speaks volumes for you guys as as people. you guys like It looks like y'all just enjoy having fun.
00:41:42
Speaker
more than anything ever. It may look like it. No, I manage all the social media and I took that over, um I think a full year ago, yes a little bit more than a year ago. Yeah. So I've been doing just different trends and things that I find funny, things that I think work pretty well with like our brand or image.
00:42:01
Speaker
um And so I just find these like little videos and different stuff with them. like Let's film this. All right. Yeah. No, so we kind of streamlined it to where it's a lot easier making um content nowadays.
00:42:16
Speaker
So what we do is we pick one day out of the week. We haven't done this the last couple weeks, but we're going to get back to it because it's so helpful. You pick one day in the week. Do you hear it? But we're going to get back to it. going to get back to it. Christian's putting his foot down.
00:42:30
Speaker
you um Well, because now I'm scrambling for content every other day. is true. yeah i totally understand yeah working around school and working around like the hours that i can't even yeah but anyway she's just oh so you're just a baby then oh yeah yeah ah But I'm a senior. so na Congratulations. Good luck. Last year, my my my oldest just graduated. my My oldest just graduated last year. what
00:43:08
Speaker
Two years ago. It'll be two years this year. Very cool. nice That's awesome. but Social media is a pain in the neck, man. It's it's a monster.
00:43:20
Speaker
It's a necessary evil. I feel your pain because... i was i well i was running all the social media for for are our platform. I got a little bit of help. i got i got I got more than a little bit of help now.
00:43:34
Speaker
But it's still, it's it's it's a monster because I fell behind. And now I'm trying to, mainly for this show, go back and make clips from all the other interviews. And i'm like, well, don't want to start posting anything because I don't want to lose track of where I am.
00:43:47
Speaker
But now I've got like all these clips and I've got more because obviously I'm doing more. So I feel your pain, man. it's You got to run a tight ship. Yeah, we were going through footage today from like three years ago. We're like, why do we even still have this? Like, we're never going to use it. We just have it because we're like, we might post it on social media. We don't know. We just have like hours of footage of just random stuff. like shows that are filmed and I'm like, my ah storage, like I can't, we have a bunch of videos coming up that i need to edit and my storage is
00:44:21
Speaker
shot. Full. And we have multiple hard drives. We're full. I'm like, okay, we need to make a change. Delete. Delete. Yeah. When people ask me, like, what's, like, one thing to, like, help with social media? like, just pick a day in the week and film all of your content for that week. So we do Sunday and we film three to four reels, whatever. Like, I have a on-the-band schedule. It'll be like, post this Monday, post this Wednesday, post this Thursday. You know what I mean? Film day. Meredith and Lise, you better be ready. Yeah. Yeah.
00:44:53
Speaker
Yeah. Reels and then you have all your content for the week and then you just post them on schedule and it, it literally it for two to three hours for one day, then you have your content for the next seven days. Like it's so nice.
00:45:08
Speaker
I was just going ask you, how long does it take you and how many takes do you have to do? goes way faster now. Like, so let's we get that one shot wonder. We're like, one take, let's go. Sometimes it takes me. Yeah, sometimes it takes like 30 minutes, but now it's streamlined, yeah. Yeah, and we're much better like in front of the camera or memorizing an audio really quick.
00:45:32
Speaker
So I think that goes... That goes a long ways. And obviously we're still learning like, you know, angles and whatever and all that stuff. um But it is definitely much better than it was when we started like actually actively trying to grow our socials.
00:45:49
Speaker
i I'm too much of a, I don't know if I'm a perfectionist or maybe I'm just a pain in the neck where I was like, all right, I'm going to do this sound clip. I'm going to do this trend. And then I'm like an hour later still trying it. And I'm like, nope, I can't find a good one. And then I have like, but then I have like six of them that are like, these are all really good.
00:46:07
Speaker
Which one do I want to pick? Screw it. I'll eat them up and start over again. Yeah.
00:46:13
Speaker
but just It's so much easier. now granted, it takes a lot more time to go back and listen through the shows, and and but it's so much easier just to get clips of the show.
Balancing Music with Personal Life
00:46:24
Speaker
That's the funny thing is, so we each kind of have our own roles in our own jobs. Again, I do all the booking managing people, et cetera. So when we're doing something and they don't know, like what I say goes right. um With the social media, there's times and I'm like, I don't want to do this. And Christian's like, I think we should. And so he has the experience. He's still learning, but we're like, okay, you know what? You're the one who's making the shots on this.
00:46:47
Speaker
yeahtis always like I don't know if we should post that. I don't like the way it looks. i don't yeah like You're your own worst critic. It looks like we're going to post it anyways.
00:46:59
Speaker
The funny thing is I think three in the past year that I like hate it almost like literally said, no, I'm not kidding. We're not posting that. like this isn't like I'm serious about this.
00:47:13
Speaker
um and Then I kind of was like, okay. and He posted it and we get 7 million views. Like that's what happens. That's how it goes. Our first one hit like 1 million or 3 million or something like that. They're always the ones that hit the millions. And I'm like, they're always the ones that shoot off. She's like, I hate that one. And I'm like, well, yeah. both So whenever I really, really hate one, we're like, awesome. We got another virus. we got yeah This is the one.
00:47:38
Speaker
This is the one. This is it. Don't listen to her. Christian just runs off, locks himself in the bedroom and posts it. He locks the door and I'm like, no. ah i Three million views later. See, it's it's perfect.
00:47:54
Speaker
It's always the ones that you don't expect. So Christian does the social media. Meredith handles all the management and whatnot. and What about you, baby sis? What do you do?
00:48:06
Speaker
yeah I like run the work. I organize it. oh from the merch table yeah i like to up the brush to break down the first table i'm also the one who sells it like at our live shows if you ever walk to the merch table you will get me sometimes us sometimes then but i have a system i know compared to them easier i decide so hes yourified I yeah like but where everything is is, how to like work it. ah
00:48:39
Speaker
I was at the table the other day and somebody was like, oh, can I get a shirt? And I'm like, sure. And I go, and Lisa's like, let me do it. Actually, no, you can't. You're like, what are you doing? waste no yeah We actually wanted, that reminds me, we wanted to take walkie-talkies around before because it's like so easy to contact people and then all of us were like, we have fun. But walkie-talkies feel cool.
00:49:06
Speaker
yeah Yeah, you got code names, you're you're you're saying over and out, 10 for you now you You totally forgot what you're doing. yeah no they I agree. Walkie-talkies are amazing. you know I'm in my 40s, and you hand me a walkie-talkie, and I'm ah instantly a kid again. Code name for us, though.
00:49:27
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. No, I get it, man. It's those simple pleasures in life, man. It's those little things that that you got to find, you know, because i'm I'm assuming going on tour, doing shows and everything like that, it's got to get a little bit stressful.
00:49:45
Speaker
Uh-oh. Don't freeze up.
00:49:52
Speaker
What's going on, Untrackable? Love you, brother.
00:49:56
Speaker
We are... We are battling technical difficulties, but nonetheless, we will survive and we will get through. There we go. yeah We got your back. We're good. Okay. I see everything went out and we're like, we're both out.
00:50:08
Speaker
I couldn't tell. Okay. Yeah. You guys, you guys froze up and I just kept rambling on because it's a, ah Perfect. That's what I do. I just ramble. He's like, fuck. 12 hours. Yeah, that's what I do. I talk.
00:50:23
Speaker
Some people, you know, there's a reason why I do a music interview show, because I can't sing. so I mean, somebody's got to god have to do everything.
00:50:35
Speaker
Yeah, somebody's got to do it. you know but i was I was just saying before we, you know, you've got to find the simple pleasures, the the little things. Because I would imagine going on tour and doing a live show, it's got to be stressful.
00:50:49
Speaker
I mean, you got to have your moments where you're about to break. What kind of things do you guys do that, away from the music, maybe something that you really nerd out about, something you enjoy to do that's not music, doesn't revolve around the music?
00:51:03
Speaker
Yeah. I love to knit. I love to knit lines. I have been doing that recently. I love anything like craft wise.
00:51:14
Speaker
um know I think we're very streamlined at this point. So there isn't so much stress and nerves as much as it's just- It's tiring. It's go time. and yeah Yeah. And you're always on.
00:51:27
Speaker
um You're always on people mode, if that makes sense. yeah Like you have to constantly be your best self, which is, it's fine. It does get tiring after a little bit. Like, ooh, I said this a little bit wrong. Or I said that a little bit. Or if you get tired. Yeah. All of those- late nights, early mornings.
00:51:46
Speaker
All of that, like, not, like, the the polite shield. it Yeah, the polite shield. Like, the things that you would talk anybody but maybe your siblings kind of, like, frizzles as you get tired.
00:51:57
Speaker
But I... start saying random stuff, you're like, I can't believe I just said that. That was so dumb. But, you know, I love anything crafty. I love anything of, yeah, all that kind of stuff. What do what do I, like, to do but how can He likes to play video games.
00:52:16
Speaker
like He goes to the streets where he plays video games, or you like get on a show and you like just binge watch it. oh I'll bedrock. That's basically what happens. I'll watch a video game. you know yeah Just do something that doesn't involve me moving much. Yeah. i love reading.
00:52:33
Speaker
I am such a bookworm. and like to say You give me a book, and i will read it within a day. Like any book, I'm all backing down. um It's gotta be a good book though, right? It's gotta be a good book.
00:52:48
Speaker
Needlepoint or Cross Stitch. Yeah, I also Cross Stitch, if you know that is. It's like, I don't know. Needlepoint, yeah. I enjoy it.
00:52:58
Speaker
ah i enjoy We were cracking up the other day because we were in like a hotel room or maybe our bedroom. I can't remember. But both of us had on sleeping caps.
00:53:09
Speaker
Lise had on her like cool gel eye mask. We had our retainers in. I was knitting and she was cross-pitching and we're like, we're eligible young ladies right here. They look red ridiculous in the room. It's so funny. Yeah.
00:53:29
Speaker
See, that's good social media content that you don't tell them about until that after it's already up. Yeah. Until after it's already up. yeah this is This is what it's like to be a rock star. A day in the life of other people.
00:53:47
Speaker
um yeah I'm just saying, Christian, you got gold right there at your fingertips, man. And you're their brother. So you should be looking for those golden opportunities. I have four sisters, man. Trust me. I take any opportunity I can to embarrass them.
00:54:02
Speaker
Even to this day. yes Are you avoiding all of them like that? Okay, so we have a very weird family family dynamic.
00:54:15
Speaker
Hmm. I have one older sister who is my half sister, my dad's first marriage. Okay. And then I have, and then I have oh my real, well, let me rephrase that. I have my real broster, which my sister is now my brother.
00:54:32
Speaker
He, he's trans. So I call him my broster. It's like a little, it's, it's, it's a term of endearment that, and you know everybody's like that's that's mean and and he was like that's what i am you know i'm his bro um have yeah then i have two other sisters from my dad's current marriage they're my or my stepsister so it's like a weird like kind of weird family dynamic i have two sisters that there that are the same age they're only separated by ah couple weeks and then my baby sister so i'm I'm the second in line, but i am by far the largest of the family. So I look like the oldest of the family. My older sister.
00:55:14
Speaker
you Yeah. that's my my i yeah I am the favorite son, so I got that going for me. That's what he says all the time. like I made my parents parents after they have been trying for like seven years.
00:55:28
Speaker
I made my grandparents grandparents. And then he comes along and he's like, I made them happy.
00:55:37
Speaker
I always wanted a son. Here I am. You're welcome. see that's right i I tease my sisters because I was i was the last of a bloodline.
00:55:51
Speaker
on my dad's side. i was um I was the last boy. Heroic. So when my when my son was born, he's the he's my baby. I said, not only am the only son, but I also continued the bloodline.
00:56:05
Speaker
So I got bonus points for being the favorite. much sisters cannot My sisters can't stand me, let's be honest. at the end of the thing That sounds like an almost something to say.
00:56:19
Speaker
Yeah. yeah you know It's tough being the favorite. Christian knows what i'm talking about. I know. It's so hard. Get a load of these guys.
00:56:30
Speaker
We didn't ask for this. We didn't ask for this burden. The burden I have. What's going on, Chris? There's six of you guys, right? Yes. yeah that's so yeah there's what there's six of you guys right yes How many girls, boys, oh you know how many of each are there?
00:56:51
Speaker
Four boys, two girls. oh So you lucked out, man. You got brothers. Yeah.
00:57:00
Speaker
Wrestle every once in a while still. He's still and they are happy about it. and It's funny. That's all right. That's his job. That's his job. the second to youngest is over six feet tall.
00:57:14
Speaker
And he's by far the tallest in the family. oh he's tall, tall. And so he'll be like, oh, yeah. And then try and take this guy. And it to in like one arm move, Christian has him on the floor. And he's like, what? It's funny. My sisters like to like to try to gang up on me from time to time.
00:57:34
Speaker
Because there's four of them and one of me. And what they don't realize is that I'm 6'3 and close to 300 pounds, and the four of them combined can barely be the same size as me. Batting toddlers.
00:57:51
Speaker
Get out of All my sisters are like 5'6, 5'7 and just just tiny little things. I don't know where I came from. I really don't. i get This is big oaf lumbering around.
00:58:02
Speaker
My older sister always introduces me. Yeah, yeah. my My older sister always introduces me as her baby big brother because I just tower. You know, so, um but yeah, you know, you gotta, you gotta keep them in line sometimes. Sometimes they get a little froggy.
00:58:20
Speaker
You gotta let them know who's boss. You can love them, but you just gotta keep them in line. I don't know. I was here first. All right.
00:58:32
Speaker
but no i was here first right
00:58:37
Speaker
No, that is awesome. ah So what are your guys' โ you know, obviously with the first tour, with at least being so young, your parents were worried.
00:58:48
Speaker
How do they feel โ And now what do they think about you guys doing this music thing? Like going out? Because you guys are all still relatively young. I mean, I'm a dad. I'd be scared to death if if my daughter was out on the road. I mean, it's a crazy world out there. i'd be I'd be a wreck if my kids were out. Like, we're going to be rock stars. I'm like, him that you need security. I am security. No, I'm just kidding.
00:59:14
Speaker
there It's funny because ah watching, since we like took it seriously, watching the path is and the doors that have just opened and unfold, I think that is, they were with us growing through that period, if that makes sense.
00:59:32
Speaker
um So it was kind of a no-brainer. It was just the next step. But I will say when I was out, i was homeschooled. When I graduated high school, my mom was very adamant. She's like, need to do something. They didn't necessarily care. It doesn't necessarily like college. They didn't care about that, but something that I could fall back on if I needed it.
00:59:53
Speaker
um So I do have a medical billing and coding degree. um and same thing for christian they're like if you want to have like a wife and kids someday you have to have something that you can you know fall back on and you know provide for them and then for lease they go oh you guys are touring she might not even graduate cool um know anyone yeah and i was like okay so i went through i hate school like i hated school it's not that i wasn't smart it's just that i loved the arts, I love music and school is very geared toward math and science people.
Family, Education, and Music Careers
01:00:25
Speaker
And grateful that I was homeschooled because I got to do a lot more art and music.
01:00:31
Speaker
ah But it just was not my thing. So to have to do more school when I was so close to the finish line, i was like, oh my goodness. For her, I'm like, meh meh cool it's your graduation cool like we're out of the house so often that they're like we'll wake up and they're like oh you guys are going to where today oh yeah we're going to like ohio for instance you're like oh that's like eight hours like see you guys tomorrow you know what i mean like yeah it's really nice If school, I should tell the teacher.
01:01:05
Speaker
Yeah. It gets to a point where it's, I don't know, common at this point, which is kind of weird to say. Mom called me the day, and it was like, don't know. Where are you? It was like 8 a.m., and she goes, are you guys home?
01:01:19
Speaker
I'm like, no, we're halfway to Pennsylvania. She oh, cool. Where are you coming from? I'm like, tomorrow morning. She's like, oh, okay. I'll see you guys then. Love you. Bye. They're just... was just you said it was yeah they're just they're just yeah they're just used to it at this point they're just like yeah if they're home they're home if they're not they're not we just come home to eat do laundry see ya we're back out on the road oh my goodness when she knows we'll be home though she'll text and be like i have hamburgers waiting or i have like a nice stir fry waiting it's really the best nice
01:01:56
Speaker
That's awesome. They get to come home because, you know, I'm sure like most people who are on the road, you guys probably don't eat the best when you're when you're out and about.
01:02:07
Speaker
You got to have your moments. That's actually where we're different. I feel like than a lot of people we have learned. Oh, really? past couple of years when you're on the road, if you don't take care of your body, if you don't eat right, if you don't stay active in whatever way suits you.
01:02:21
Speaker
Um, and if you don't get enough sleep, you cannot continue. You cannot put on a good show. You cannot do good connections, all that kind of stuff. So we are very much sticklers of in bed, you know, sleeping very well. Um, we eat,
01:02:35
Speaker
pretty healthy. We eat decently. Yeah, i like our average day, we'll eat breakfast at the hotel, which, you know, is usually some sort of eggs and sausage and toast or cereal. Yeah. um Lunch is usually some sort of sandwich or yogurt.
01:02:52
Speaker
And then dinner is whatever the venue is like providing, which usually is some sort of nice meat, you know, like some good actual snap We kind of ask this like the fast food type things only because it's a lot nicer for us and even vegetable platters are like that's awesome. Yeah, and we will say at least I feel fantastic like we're gone for three or four weeks. We're like you we feel strong. We're like, oh, I feel so good. yes so I eat a lot like it takes a lot. It's a lot of calories to drum and to load and unload and continuously build equipment.
01:03:32
Speaker
So I eat a lot of food. Whenever we go on tour, we just don't have a lot of food. So I just like, and also like when you're on the road, i don't eat as much. I don't know. My body just is like, oh, like we're moving still. Like this is just, you know what mean? like So whenever we get back from tour, last time I lost 10 pounds, I think it was.
01:03:56
Speaker
15 pounds yeah it was quite a bit yeah it was enough to i was like he's a little scrawny today
01:04:06
Speaker
not feeling like myself and that yeah that congrats on staying away from fast food i'm i'm i'm i try to now that i've gotten older but man i used to work in construction and yeah You just eat what you eat when you can and whatever's available.
01:04:26
Speaker
Whether it came from ah from a gas station, like i said, I'm pretty sure I'm invincible from everything at this point in time, considering all the terrible things I've put in my body over the years. So congrats to you guys for being able to still kind of keep some kind of balance and and maintain that goal and not going crazy yeah when you're when you're out on the road. It's an easy trap to fall into.
01:04:48
Speaker
Yeah. I was going to say, because we, as a family of eight people, like it's quite expensive for us to like go out and get fast food or get like, like go out and eat. So we kind of like grew up like not eating out, which really helps us.
01:05:02
Speaker
So like we just don't eat out because yeah our parents never ate out when we were kids. There's also though, because i remember distinctly there one time and I'm like, I want junk food and nothing will satisfy me. And i cooler and I came up with rice cakes, peanut butter and chocolate chips. So also when you're packing on the road, you are on bare bones sometimes. Oh yeah. that' how you We had a bag of chocolate chips.
01:05:29
Speaker
I don't know how it ended up in our cooler. Like it was just there. we make real but We made trail mix. Nuts, raisins, chocolate. But we didn't eat a ton chocolate chips. So we just had a bag of chocolate chips floating around for a couple of weeks that we all just kind like went by and took like five at a time.
01:05:45
Speaker
julia yeah your Your poor mom's not going to know what to do when when all you kids grow up and move out of the house. She's been so used to cooking for such a big family. Your dad's going to put on 200 pounds because she's going to slowly be in that mindset of of cooking for And she's like, it can't go to waste. Somebody's got to eat it. Someone's going to eat it.
01:06:08
Speaker
It's so funny. It's kind of sad to me because I'm first, we have second, there's a boy in the middle, third, fourth, and then the two little boys. um So the boy in the middle has already moved out.
01:06:21
Speaker
um And then the second to last one is graduating in like a year. um And he is already like well on his way to his electrician degree or something. I'm not sure how that works. nice But apprenticeship like he's like going to move straight out. like Most likely when he does that, we're all moving. So she's going to lose like five people at like a snap of a finger.
01:06:43
Speaker
That's so bad. wow it just she's either going to be lost and not know what to do and be yeah like everybody has to move close so byproducing all around ah or she's going to be ecstatic and she's going to be like this is what peace and quiet is like I've heard of this foreign thing called quiet what do I do now i've heard of this foreign thing called quiet wow what do i do now yeah Anything I want. No, that's, you know, shout out to your mom, man. Oh, man.
01:07:19
Speaker
i I thought I was done after two years. Yeah. your Your mom's the rock star. Shout out to her, man. your but Your parents, man. Six kids. I thought I was done after two, and then my boy came along, and I'm like, we're really done. My ex-wife is done.
01:07:34
Speaker
Like, Doc, whatever you need to do when he's coming, when he's when he's being born, fix it to where it don't work down there no more. because yeah I couldn't imagine doubling the kids I had.
01:07:48
Speaker
Yeah. It is expensive, man. Yeah. um to try to raise up a whole litter kids, man, at the end of the day. But, no, sounds like you guys got pretty cool parents. They sound like they're super supportive of your guys' dream of music and whatnot. And, you know, hopefully, you know, you guys will hit it big and be able to take care of the family.
01:08:12
Speaker
They don't fall on the three of you. That'd be awesome. Your brother would be like, oh, I can wire your house for you. thank You need electricians too. yeah Yes. yeah yeah Hey, man, I've been in construction for 30 years, man. shout out to Shout out to your little brother, especially if he's young and he can get into an apprenticeship, man. Shout out to him.
01:08:32
Speaker
Take that apprenticeship and take that sucker as far as it'll take yeah yeah sure exactly you. It's going to one thing that we'll always need electricians.
01:08:43
Speaker
Yeah. And he's very excited about it which is the best thing. Like he comes home and talks my ear off and shows me videos of things they were wiring. and It's a cool. poem yeah and irish yeah i not even on yeah
01:09:01
Speaker
If he ever asked you to touch something, don't do it. Yeah. Right. It's going to shock you. I promise you. And then touch this one. Yeah.
01:09:13
Speaker
as As the electricians say, and as as as I've grown to learn the term, it's not electrocution. It's just a bite. It's all electricity all electricity does. It just bites you. yeah So you'll be fine. Sometimes you've got to get shots.
01:09:26
Speaker
Yeah. all times you gotta to get sha strike yeah Yeah, I won't tell you guys how many times I've been shot because I've lost count of it.
01:09:38
Speaker
I'm old enough now where it's just like, nah, leave that breaker on. I'll wire it up. hot It'll be fine. And then but two minutes later, two minutes later there's there's a dictionary of curse words coming from another room. and
01:09:53
Speaker
And did we learn anything? Nope, because I'm going to do it all over again for the next project. I need all of this stuff. No, I probably should.
01:10:05
Speaker
your guys is You guys make sense. Now, granted, I know, obviously, you had two previous members and stuff like that. So going back and listening to some of the music and looking at some of the videos.
01:10:16
Speaker
But you guys have some cool videos. More recently, who comes up with your guys' ideas for your music video? I like the one with you guys coming out of the wall. I had to believe that. The one was my idea. So I come to Meredith, and I'm like, crazy idea.
01:10:35
Speaker
I want to build a wall that we can like just punch through. you know what I mean? Just like, just boom. And then like, we like show heads just ran, just like burst through a wall. And it's basically just like an easy, like, well, it's a harder lyric video basically.
01:10:49
Speaker
So just one that like keeps attention. And I was like, this will be sick. And I went, okay, cool. That sounds great. How are we going to do that? And then I said, that's what I came to you for. didnt Here's my idea. You make it happen.
01:11:03
Speaker
And you know, it's funny, those many said that everything in my brain, like, bill boom boom boom i'm like okay, I know exactly what we're gonna do. So I guess he did have the right idea to Yeah, yeah. So we kind like we build off each other that way. I we've never been in a situation where nobody knows what to do.
01:11:19
Speaker
but Like there's always somebody who's like, oh, I know exactly how to do that. Even just recently, we were designing a t-shirt that had a bunch of butterflies on it And I was like, this spacing does not work. I don't get why it's not working. It doesn't look good.
01:11:31
Speaker
And Christian comes in, he's like, I have no idea. That's awful. At least took one look and went, oh, here, fixed It looks amazing. Nice. you know but difficult I had been working on
Creative Process in Music Videos
01:11:42
Speaker
this for hours. was getting so mad at this.
01:11:45
Speaker
And she, two seconds, goes perfect. so There you go. There's our team work. This is her baby. yeah Our new video, yeah. Coming out new May 9th.
01:12:00
Speaker
On every social media. Undefeated underscore official. On YouTube, music videos coming out. Undefeated underscore official. This called Just The Way It Is.
01:12:10
Speaker
And we filled an entire room full of over seven, no seven, yeah, about 700 balloons worth and just played the song in there. Yeah, it was awesome. It was the first video we had professionally recorded. So it was definitely yeah professionally filmed. Yeah. So it was definitely multiple, multiple steps up than anything you've ever seen. Yeah, it was it was really cool to do it. Yeah, it was interesting. so All the videos up till now we've done ourselves. And this one we're like, oh, thank God we have a professional video now.
01:12:39
Speaker
please Please tell me you guys did not really have to blow up all those balloons individually. Tell me you had some pumps. We did. yeah We did buy a machine. It's like a little thing that he just and it would blow it up. But our fingers were so sore after our fingers were tying them. yeah It took us, I think, or seven hours. We did it a couple hours the night before and then a couple hours in the morning. It it took a while, yeah. It was...
01:13:06
Speaker
he was It was a great undertaking. It was a good bonding. yeah And the best part is like when you fill a room with balloons, some of them randomly just pop. In the middle of the night So it'll be like 1, 2 in the morning. They'll get up to pee, and then you just hear like almost like a gunshot. You're like, oh my goodness. A balloon. It wasn't a place we weren't you know used to, and so it was just little bit creepy to hear in the middle of the night. Yeah, so.
01:13:34
Speaker
yeah so Just forewarning if you plan to do that. I think I might have problems if I decide to fill a room with ah with balloons.
01:13:45
Speaker
My fiance might come home from work and go, You were really bored today, weren't you? Got nothing better to do. It's actually funny because it's not as many balloons as you think it would be i Because we knew we wanted a huge balloon space, I overbought by like 200 balloons that I thought we would need.
01:14:10
Speaker
I literally was like, I would rather have 200 extra than not enough. We used every single one of them. still had to go grab an extra pack of like 30 balloons as by like the third day because so many had popped to like just fill out yeah oh yeah oh they shrunk a little bit um and when 700 shrink a little bit that's a lot of open air lot of shrinkage yeah and it was yeah wow
01:14:34
Speaker
yeah wow um lives So can we go back to the wall idea after this video? and even That that one and wouldn't take nearly as long, um but Lise was in bed and Christian and I were out in our garage.
01:14:55
Speaker
so what we did- Well, they told me they didn't need me. So I like, if you don't need me, I'm going to go to bed. So so i just arrest my kids with
01:15:03
Speaker
I bought wallpaper and um and he so stuck it to giant- Big sheets of cardboard cardboard. But the problem was getting it very smooth so the bubbles didn't show up on camera.
01:15:14
Speaker
And if you look very closely, you see one or two that still irks me. uh but we were out there you gotta get like this close to your screen like scraping and like full-on body spread like trying to keep the rolls up like correctly it it that was a it was a complicated video i promise you ah promise you nobody will ever notice the flaw yeah in the video Yeah, then we kind of just put up two boards.
01:15:42
Speaker
I just built two things and then we screwed it in and then punched through it. went fairly easily. It was one of our shortest filmed videos, I think. It took like an hour. Yeah.
01:15:54
Speaker
to film the best part is what you guys can't see behind the camera is where all the holes were we you can't stand correctly can't stand and you can't like sit yeah we have like the hair like this through the hole i was through the hole on a step ladder but the problem was a step ladder was too high so like my buzz just like stopped right out i'm like yeah right like singing and we just like hunched she's Literally just yeah, the two below like it's the funniest thing had um mar Below me yeah, so you were like tangled back. There's interest I have behind the scenes film with my release someday because it's the funniest It's hilarious but you're like um it's ah it's It's a viral moment. It's one of those one it's your next vial moment right there the little BTS man everybody loves everybody loves the behind-the-scenes things man
01:16:49
Speaker
it's It's wild to me Sometimes we'll just randomly pop up live While we're working on different new features And stuff like that And new to new buttons and and and it And it blows our minds Because the the amount of people that will come in And just hang out and talk to us And it's just like We're not even doing anything right now We really look like a bunch of nerds And my partner and I We might just be having random ass conversations Or whatever But it's just like We're just here were here to see how all the bells and whistles work at the end the day.
01:17:24
Speaker
Yeah. We just want to see what's going on. We just want to see what's happening. what's What's going on? So... so um Do you guys have plans for an album or are you guys going kind of stay on track?
Releasing Singles vs. Albums
01:17:40
Speaker
I noticed the the new thing with a lot of musicians and and a lot of the artists that come on here is nobody it's not so much about putting out the album as much as it is dropping singles and getting traction from the singles and then maybe down the road because obviously I'm assuming it's you guys being songwriters and stuff like that.
01:17:58
Speaker
You have other โ you've probably got a notebook or something full of songs. where if you wanted to release an album, the option's there. But are you guys more on that? We'll just do some singles and get some traction and do our tour and stuff like that, and then down the road? Or what what do you guys got planned for the future?
01:18:16
Speaker
Yeah, singles are definitely really hot the nowadays. And we always... Our motto is we make a plan and then we throw away the plan. so yeah Yeah, this, is so we released five have songs in 2023, I think. I think it was. um And our goal was to release another five songs and put them together and create an album.
01:18:39
Speaker
But the problem is the growth of our band from this one to this one. um And we were working with a semi-new producer. So even the growth of his production, there's no way those songs fit together. Like there is a very big discrepancy just in every little element. Just the sound and the quality of the songs themselves. Yeah. And so we were like, oh, well, that's not going to work. Let's do this. I'm like, okay, cool. Let's do an album.
01:19:02
Speaker
All right. Well, we can't afford that right now. So let's do bunch singles. We're like, okay, now that we're doing singles, now we want to do some music videos and, oh, we can make this an album. But... these singles that we had recorded were like, all right, let's do those five or six or whatever ends up being. And then let's record new ones.
01:19:18
Speaker
And then these new ones, just the scratch tracks are already so much better than these ones. ah the same vote a Again, music.
01:19:29
Speaker
I was going to say, and we don't know just just make your music that's all it matters just make the music i think yeah is was goingnna say Being a new fan and and in coming across you guys on Instagram and checking out your stuff, bob as a new fan, I've noticed your sound has changed quite a bit. you know you so it's almost It's almost kind of about, to me, just as ah as a listener, as a fan, it almost seems like you're still trying to find your your your sound or your your your exact voice where you want to go, um which is you know what happens, and especially with you guys being so young.
01:20:08
Speaker
um you know, that that's a part of that growth process. But you guys are, I mean, like you said, you can tell in your music how quickly you guys are growing and how much it's changing and how fast and and whatnot like that.
01:20:20
Speaker
Not that it was ever bad, because as I've as i've gone back and listened to as i got back and listen to some some songs really kind of showcase your i ah well i will say that some some songs really really kind of showcase your your your voice, you have a crazy good voice.
01:20:39
Speaker
Thank you. Right up there in line with but like Izzy and and and Amy Lee and stuff like that as far as the rocker chicks go. um But you're you know as you mature and as you find your sound, it sounds you can definitely see that where you guys are now or if you listen to something from five years ago or four years ago or whatever.
01:21:00
Speaker
because you can hear that growth just in your voice, but even as the music too, you can hear that, you know, especially like the new song, it's real, real kind of pop rock and and real fun. And you guys are just, just having a blast, you know, which is cool. yeah Yeah, that's cool.
01:21:17
Speaker
Cause every time we release something, we've always said we want it multiple steps better than whatever the previous project was. So that's really cool that you can see that as well.
01:21:29
Speaker
um'm a big ne I'm a big music nerd. Like I said, I love music. I can't sing it i couldn't carry a tune in a bucket to save my life, and i can't play an instrument for anything. I've tried. I've got this guitar sitting back here that I've had for like 20 years, and all it does is collect dust.
01:21:49
Speaker
It collects dust and holds my hats from time to time. ah and not even a lack of trying i just yeah you know but i do love music and i'm such a music nerd and and and that's the cool thing about social media and especially for a lot of the new artists like you guys man use that to your advantage it is a necessary evil but man can it can it help because i do like like christian said bedrock man i'll do a lot of that laying laying back here at night or you know sitting out on the couch, and I'm just scrolling through Instagram.
Boosting Exposure through Social Media
01:22:22
Speaker
Thank God for my algorithm because it's all local and up-and-coming artists.
01:22:26
Speaker
and A song will catch my ear or an artist's voice will catch my ear as I'm scrolling, and then I have to do that scroll back and be like, where is it? Please don't refresh. Please don't refresh you know type deal. so um That's how i come across you guys.
01:22:42
Speaker
Excellent. I was like, hey, let me go see what else they got going on. Let me let me check these guys out. So, um yeah, definitely digging the music. Now, you guys said May 9th, the new song comes out, which is a Friday.
01:22:56
Speaker
This leads me into my next question. This is one of the most important questions of the night. One of the most important questions you'll ever be asked. And I'm not just saying that because I have an ego, because I don't. Just don't listen to anybody else on the network.
01:23:08
Speaker
Hopefully none of them are listening to us. but um Moving forward, is it okay with you guys if we continue to play your music throughout the network? We have eight different shows.
01:23:21
Speaker
um We do take breaks on some of the other shows, and we like to play music, but I always ask for permission from the artist to play your music and throw it into the rotation of music. 100% yes. Absolutely. I would love that.
01:23:35
Speaker
So with the new song coming out on May the 9th, shut up, please.
01:23:44
Speaker
but Sorry, that's in the
01:23:52
Speaker
No, no, no, no, Blaze. Blaze, I'm sorry, Lise. I thought you were like, okay, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, okay. Blaze! You talk too much. Just just be quiet. No, Blaze, that's my right-hand guy. that's that's that's my That's my right-hand man here on on the network. Well, you haven't got yelled at yet. I'm sorry. That was not meant for you.
01:24:15
Speaker
Maybe October will
01:24:22
Speaker
maybe yeah true Maybe maybe when in October when you guys are in Ohio, I'll yell at you. And you're like, oh, no, I know who that is.
01:24:34
Speaker
I just want a shirt. I've been trying to do this merchandise. Oh, that's so funny. No.
Upcoming Song Debut
01:24:40
Speaker
um So the song comes out on the 9th, which is a Friday. We do our big show on Saturday night. That's kind of our night where we just cut loose and we hang out with our fans and we let them come up on the panel and everything with us.
01:24:51
Speaker
So we will in turn debut it right here on the network for you guys on the 10th. And yeah we're going to put your other music into the rotation as well. But with the new song, it's like perfect timing. So you guys can release it on the 9th and we'll throw it up here on the network and get it into rotation on starting on the 10th for you. Awesome.
01:25:09
Speaker
so Thank you so much. That's so cool. Seriously, thank you. I force people to listen to the music I like, just so you know. It's the great thing about being the boss. True. You will also listen. He has an evil laugh. is. use where He like makes fun of the like the lady laugh, and then he at he's like, I like that laugh. Yes! I'll have to show it to you after. It's a funny meme.
01:25:39
Speaker
Come on, you're supposed to be the social media guy You're supposed to know this.
01:25:43
Speaker
and it's ah this's That's the perks of being the boss around here. cause I can force people to listen to the music I like Actually, you know I will say i haven't gotten any complaints. yeah Everybody's like, yeah yeah nice. Where'd you find them at? For a reason.
01:25:57
Speaker
I got all the brains. i'm just Not just the looks around here. I'm also the brains.
01:26:04
Speaker
Christian knows what I'm talking about. Oh, I'm definitely not the brains of this operation. He's like, I'm just a drummer. but Well, actually, like I do social media, but I also run everything. i do radio stations, and i also run everything up on stage. So like I'll do all of our in-ears. I'll do all of our wireless mics.
01:26:26
Speaker
What's it called? ah Electrical music things. Yeah. We always say I do the people he does on stage. Yeah. so I have some brains. Yeah.
01:26:39
Speaker
I got some. I got some. Lisa's like, I got the base and the merch. Don't bother me. yeah This is my role. This is my world. This is my bubble. and Let me do my thing. on the road Whenever we're driving, i actually keep them fed. They're like, sandwich me.
01:26:59
Speaker
I'm like, So I did the back of the sandwich, pat it up to the front. So I keep them alive. What's that professional? There you go. That's so funny. and other words Chef. Chef. Chef. Yes. chefly Yep.
01:27:13
Speaker
I'm a gourmet chef. With raw food. Yep. Some might say that is the most important job. The food. Exactly. Oh, 100%. If a venue has good food.
01:27:27
Speaker
ah venue has good food I could just live there. venues have just good food. i'm just oh Thank you, venues with good food. Thank you. like, thank you for keeping me alive. Thank you.
01:27:47
Speaker
You hear that? All you other venues need to step up your food game. didn't get that before. I can't say. We don't know if it was that venue, but all of got... can't say um we don't know if it was that venue but all of us got like really sick like within two hours or three hours of eating um enough so that we were like yeah it was it was not we were afraid of the show the next day we're like can we make it it was it was not good but that's it i think but i'm like we all eat the same thing but for something to come on so quick it must have been some sort of food boy thing yeah it was it was not good
01:28:30
Speaker
Food poison. Been there. Been there and done that. That's not funny. Ain't it Blaze? We had our first ever live gig out at an axe throwing event. They were celebrating their one year anniversary and they invited us to come out and do the show live.
01:28:48
Speaker
Yeah, but you know who got food poisoning that night? You. This guy. Yes. ah It was, it was, it was terrible. And it was like, it came on and it hit me and then it lasted for a few hours and then it went away. But I mean, it was, it was terrible nonetheless, but, but I do want to ask you guys, um and I, this is one thing I do got to be better about.
01:29:12
Speaker
a Taco Bell from hell.
01:29:16
Speaker
Yeah. Don't eat, don't eat, don't eat leftover ver Taco Bell guys. That's all I got to say. I love Taco Bell, so I'm good to know.
01:29:28
Speaker
a It's my weakness. Taco Bell is my weakness. I'm a sucker for it. and Trust me. you know i don't i don't know how you guys are. and christian and maybe you can Maybe you can speak on this one.
01:29:44
Speaker
ah Most women, when they get hungry, when they get hangry, they can be a little bit indecisive. and don't know how to make up their minds. And my fiance is one of these people. And um and she's like, what do you want? I said, give me Taco Bell, and I'll be happy.
01:29:59
Speaker
Right there. There's your answer. Taco Bell, I don't know. I'm like, all right, well. You guys need to like, four instant choices in my head of like what I always do.
01:30:15
Speaker
Cause I'll eat basically, if you throw something edible at me, I'll probably eat it. I mean, I i have yet to, I've only found like one food that I truly detest.
01:30:31
Speaker
Oh, you think that hard. I don't wanna like, cause that's so rude. and like Oh, no. It's something that mom makes, isn't it? No, no. Oh, no. Plug your knees, mom.
01:30:43
Speaker
Ethnic food. Oh! Yeah. we were were... no. You don't need say that. was an authentic... It was an authentic... An authentic main dish. Yeah.
01:30:56
Speaker
And we will not be eating authentic... made dishes anymore. Yeah. I know exactly. Now y'all just walked us to the edge and just left us there. now i know i don't know I can't. like it was it's It's a very specific thing and we don't want that that person who did it spent so long. It was truly heartfelt. It was a gift from their heart.
01:31:21
Speaker
yeah And we loved everything else that they did. Like truly, they were amazing. you It's like the one thing I was just like, can't, I, I couldn't, I couldn't swallow it. I physically couldn't, you know, I've never, I've never had a food like that until I met that. And I was like, Oh wow. yes Yeah.
01:31:36
Speaker
But the, the, gesture cra yeah, it was nice. yeah Yeah. Yeah. I don't want you to call anybody out specifically. I'm not here to be i keep a real time if yeah we went, we went to, uh, we went to a Bulgarian restaurant and you know, in Tennessee and it was terrible. Like, okay.
01:31:55
Speaker
I feel you. i feel you Yeah, right. Sorry, Mom, your meatloaf yeah so you i I totally get what you're saying. I have been in that situation before with a friend of mine. and ah And i just I just had to power through it, though. I had that.
01:32:20
Speaker
because i didn't want to I didn't want to hurt the person's feelings. We powered through some things. Yeah. yeah yeah they like I would go ahead and... like hide Hide myself. like You know what mean? you and ask all You're pretty good about eating things even if you don't like them. You know what I mean? like It just is what it is. yeah ah yeah I've never fully gagged the way I think.
01:32:44
Speaker
was our dad was with us and i think he liked it which is the funniest part no i don't think so you don't think you like that no he liked something that was yeah i don't remember i'm just chowing down a really little this is delicious meaning meanwhile you guys are suffering what are you talking about you're not gonna finish your plate let me get that yeah please like I don't know if you're a Friends fan at all. I'm like a diehard Friends fan.
01:33:15
Speaker
And there's a scene where Rachel makes like the the trifle with like whipped cream and then beef sauteed with peas and onions, like midst their jam and trifle layers. And it reminds me of that.
01:33:26
Speaker
Nice. Damn. So on. i want i want to ask you guys before before i move on My brain is always 100 miles an hour, just so you know. So um let everybody know. i The reason I didn't ask you, because i well not only did I find it very amusing at the end of the the Rise video, Christian just hanging out in the wall with his head and feet and arms and everything else. And I've watched that video a few times. And every time I do, I laugh at the end because, I don't know, it's just amusing to me at the end of the day.
01:34:01
Speaker
yeah I wanted to leave you guys' as socials up there. But if you want to shout out your socials, let everybody know where they can find you guys at on on social media so they can follow you guys, listen to the music and all that stuff.
01:34:13
Speaker
Yeah, so we have social media on every platform. You can find us on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube. You guys name it, we have it. It is all under undefeated underscore official.
01:34:26
Speaker
And if you give a like or follow, every one single person really does make a huge difference for growing bands like us. So say you came from this. Yeah. If you come from this, say, hey, Glick's it.
01:34:41
Speaker
Exactly. And then I'm going to win. then I'll get brownie points. Hashtag Glick is the best. Just started yeah Yeah, exactly. Put it, put it on their most viral videos. Look is the best hashtag nonsense.
01:35:03
Speaker
it'll It'll earn me brownie points in October when I go see him. ah go So there you go. That at bottom of the screen. So want to ask you guys, this is kind of each one. I want to hear from each one of you guys.
01:35:16
Speaker
Um, your stage presence, your, your, your state, because let's, let's be honest, all musicians have a persona when they're on stage.
01:35:28
Speaker
and on So what is your guys' stage presence like?
Stage Presence and Overcoming Introversion
01:35:36
Speaker
for each one of you like Like, well do are you, are you, are you very animated? Do you run around? Like, yeah how are you? So... are You guys all break into the same... Well, you can't run around, Christian. but I was going to say, I have a little bit of a different role. um I do a lot of stick tricks and flips, and I have heard a lot of people um love that thing from drummers. I try to get the crowd... So when we start, I now officially like walk out and I do like this whole thing. Left side of the crowd, yay, you know. Right side the crowd, yay, then everyone cheers. And then I'll go back um in our intro and then...
01:36:13
Speaker
play drums or whatever. and then so i also I very rarely see this. I stand up, sit down, and actually jump in my seat sometimes. um I also do like spins on my seat. It it kind of depends on the venue if I have like room around the back or not.
01:36:27
Speaker
um I've definitely gotten better at stage presence. um I like to be just, drumming's physical for me. It's just, I like, I'm a heavy hitter. I like to move. I like to headbang. And i I like to see other people having fun. Like, you get those dead crowds every one and all. You're just like, man, but it is better. Come on.
01:36:48
Speaker
Look at what I'm doing back here. Come on. Give me something. I love to just be drenched. It's fun for me. Other people are like, I love it. Like, keep that. So that's like the one thing.
01:36:59
Speaker
that I always do. Just have fun up there, to be honest. that Have controlled fun. I'll say that. We definitely look at our show.
01:37:11
Speaker
Obviously, you want the music to be good, but you also want the production around it to be good. You are putting on a show. You are putting on a production. You'll have to get the banned one.
01:37:22
Speaker
Sorry, my laptop is dying, so he's going to go grab a charger so we can plug it in. I've been there before. We definitely, like, yeah, we involve the crowd. We move around. We just have a lot of fun, and we try to include the crowd in them. We want them to have a lot of fun.
01:37:42
Speaker
It's kind of, you know. yeah um Hang on we're go Give me a second. Yeah,
01:37:51
Speaker
yeah they're going to plug in so they don't die. We're back. Boom. That was quick. That was good. ah Alrighty. You should be back again in two seconds.
01:38:02
Speaker
oh good I keep getting notifications like you're on 10%. You're on 5%. You are going to die. just never on yeah I just never unplug my laptop. It never leaves my desk.
01:38:15
Speaker
Yeah. It never leaves my desk, so I don't have to worry about it, fortunately. ah What about you, Lise? but do you I know you're the newest and still trying to find your...
01:38:27
Speaker
probably find your routine, I'm assuming. Kind of like I I'm very introverted, so it took a lot.
01:38:41
Speaker
to have to have the confidence to like have fun on stage. i don't I don't know. i I and not a public speaker. i just don't like put people looking at me. i just want to be like in my room alone. Like that's just like.
01:38:57
Speaker
But it took a lot for me to switch from my introverted self to a more extroverted self and like kind of become a people lover.
01:39:08
Speaker
Mm-hmm. I will say, so from... and go Oh. and shut Also, growing, like, getting older, i'm a lot more confident in who I am And now, looking back, I'm like, I can't believe I stood in a square.
01:39:28
Speaker
Like, I have so much fun, like, jumping around, skipping around, like, headbanging, like, all the time. i just, I love moving. and I love, like,
01:39:39
Speaker
I love the performance side of like bands. Like I just, I think I like it more so than playing. Like I love like the entertainment and having fun. I love that.
01:39:50
Speaker
yeah It's definitely like, while obviously you're having fun on stage and things like that, that's not our goal. If that makes sense. When we hit the stage, our goal is to make you have just like a joyful moment, have a reprieve from life, enjoy something.
01:40:07
Speaker
ah So that's kind of what our set is tailored around. Cause there's times we'll get up on stage and I'm going to be honest, you don't want to be there. You want to be sleeping. You want, you know what I mean? Like you are exhausted and you got to go on and put on the show of your life.
01:40:20
Speaker
Nobody wants to see a band that's like, we don't want to be here. yeah ah You want to just give all of that. energy and transfer. Give them life.
01:40:33
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. No, that's, ah you know, when when when people come to see you guys, they want to, they're coming for the music, but they also want to see a show. You know, I've been to some concerts and the band just,
01:40:47
Speaker
stands around and the singer comes up and stands at the concert. I'm like, yup. Yeah, yeah. I was just like, I'm glad I paid 70 bucks for this ticket.
01:40:58
Speaker
You know? yeah But, you know, fortunate fortunately that happened more at music festivals than like going to a one-off concert. But, you know, it happens. but People want to see you having fun. And and I totally get that. You know, totally...
01:41:12
Speaker
<unk> miss Different atmosphere and everything like that. But, you know, there's there's some days where I'm like, I don't want to do a podcast tonight. You know, like, oh, man, here we go. yeah Let's try to let's try to get through this. But, you know, usually halfway through it, you know, not even that much. It takes 10 minutes or so. Yeah. Within 10 minutes or so. Once the camera's on and the mic is open, it's just like, cool.
01:41:34
Speaker
There it is. could never picture Lisa being an introvert quiet and
01:41:40
Speaker
sure police serve being an introvert and quiet rather be off in her own little world i can never picture it definitely has to grown i feel like just even from my perspective from the back because lisa and i now have like little moments in our set that we've like tailored in to where like she'll like look at me like we'll be bopping heard if there's like a solo or whatever just to where like when she like and i'll just be like like you're good she's like i'm jamming yo or just that and before she'd look almost like deer in headlights um and so she's definitely grown like he meant like huge steps which is awesome to see and i think that you can even grow like even more which is awesome because even now in like so we're in a practice space right now we have like a big open area where they can move yeah um
01:42:33
Speaker
yeah um yeah like Even in practice now, she moves better than what she was doing, which was which is awesome to see. so Constantly growing is always the goal. so lot Probably a lot of that comes with comes with age.
01:42:46
Speaker
i mean she's She's still yeah still young. yeah practices you Practice is huge. Practice helps so much like because I didn't have to like think about movement. My body automatically did it. It was like muscle memory. Yeah.
01:43:03
Speaker
how you play practice you will play how you practice yeah and then i always say if you're ever nervous for a show that means you didn't practice enough like people that are like because we play with some bands and're like man i'm just i get so nervous stuff like that and like they didn't practice enough they're like what i'm like i don't mean to be rude but like if you practice more like it it comes to a point where like um Muscle memory?
01:43:27
Speaker
At this point, I don't even know what I play. If you ask to play this song, I'd be like, I can't even tell you. and then like When the click starts, I'm like, muscle memory. and I'm like, oh that's how this goes. That's great. like the problem arm shift just moving I'm like, yeah nice. It's so muscle memory that- so Sometimes I forget to stay stuck. You're not paying attention to it because you're just you know doing the thing.
01:43:48
Speaker
and Then all of a sudden, you like all of a sudden see yourself and you like fall back into the song and you're like, oh crap, where am I? That's the worst. That's really because sometimes I have to like fight to not focus or I'm going to mess up, you know which is like the opposite. Don't focus. I'm not focusing.
01:44:09
Speaker
It's just, the yeah, there you follow that routine. So I got ask, how long until we put Christian in a cage and elevate him over over the crowd and spin him around and and all that stuff? As soon as we can afford it. soon possible. That'd be awesome. Yeah, that's awesome. Our donations are the right ones.
01:44:26
Speaker
I actually don't. I'll flip up and like spin. and i definitely want to do a stage. This is coming from a guy who doesn't like heights. Oh, I hate heights, but you know what? It'd be cool. You're preaching to the choir, brother. don't like heights either. Trust me, I understand.
01:44:43
Speaker
it for the plot. Yeah, it's Garth Brooks back in the day, well yeah when he was on tour and stuff, his drummer was in ah in a 360 ball and they and they would rotate him around, they would elevate him and spin him around and and and everything else. and it It was kind of a wild experience. ah I think the drummer of Def Leppard, I think they had him on a in the cage at one point in time as well i don't think i've ever like watched death leopard like live like i watch a lot of bands just like on youtube like just their live shows just to kind of pick up tips and tricks for what their drummers do i don't think i've ever watched that death leopard but yeah check them out that'd be cool do do you have any uh just right for you man is there any drummers that you look up to or any drummers that you kind of
01:45:32
Speaker
influenced you or anything like that? Oh, 100%. Crap, hold on. I can't think of any of their names. the Yeah, but Mario Duplantier. He's the drummer for Gojira, and he is just...
01:45:47
Speaker
fantastic. I love like his polyrhythms. He does a lot of time work, which we've slowly incorporated it more into our songs, which I love. So definitely i kind of emulate like what he does, but make it Christian's version.
01:46:02
Speaker
And then Also, I try to reach out into different like genres to like expand how I play. So I look towards people like Eric Moore. He's more like a choppy, kind of like gospel drummer almost, more jazzy, more fusion type stuff.
01:46:19
Speaker
And he definitely just gets more into like that like soul funk type of thing. and And I actually ah look up to him as well because he's so different than some of the other drummers that I watch.
01:46:30
Speaker
um and just give you kind of like that that vibe and like that dancey type of feel to your music instead of always like that four on the floor kind of kick in your face type music you know yeah its ah it's a weird question to ask but it's always one that I'm curious about like as an artist and I'm just going have I wish I had had picked up on this earlier but I'm going to have fun I'm going pick on Lisa again here being the Being the newest one to the bass or anything like that, are there any bass players that you look for for like tips or tricks or you know famous ones or anything like that that kind of pique your interest?
01:47:11
Speaker
um So Tanya O'Callaghan, she's like a fill-in bassist. She plays with a lot of 80s bands. um And I just love her playing style. I love her stage presence. She's so fun.
01:47:24
Speaker
on What fans has she played with? She's played with White Snake. White Snake. That's the only one I can name. know I know a couple others. You'd know them. They're they're fairly big yeah yeah'm fairly big. They're huge. They're huge. She's a name that you know. She's a lot of those.
01:47:41
Speaker
she's a name that you know just yeah she's um And lately, I've been, like, watching a lot of Paramore, like, live sets. I don't know the basis. Finally! I've been telling you. But their whole, like, set is vibe. Like, they all just have so much fun. Like, every, like, the drummer, the pianist, the bass player, the electric guitarist, like, Hayley.
01:48:08
Speaker
Like, they all just have, like, just so much fun. I just love, like, their entire. energy. All of it. All of it. All of it. That's all you gotta say about Paramore. It's just everything. its <unk> yeah It's like perfect.
01:48:24
Speaker
its It's a perfect combination. yes It is. The baselines are so groovy. It's so like funky groovy. And I've gone into a lot of punk groove lately instead of the metal groove, which I still love.
01:48:37
Speaker
Metal's awesome. get us wrong. Yeah. don't get us wrong yeah
01:48:49
Speaker
Yeah. She just wants to vibe on her base. Just let her do her thing. i just just just Just let her be over there on her side of the stage and do her thing. That's all she wants to do. Yeah.
01:49:05
Speaker
Ain't nothing wrong with that. yeah ah yeah there's There's artists out there that are like that. you know ah Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. hes he just He's always just doing his own thing. I've seen i'm seen them in concerts.
01:49:19
Speaker
I've seen them in concert a couple of times and i don't even think he realizes he's in a band, to be honest with you. When they're on stage, he's just doing whatever Flea wants to do. but get And it's it's ah interesting. you You almost forget that there's enough there's a full-on band because you're just watching one.
01:49:39
Speaker
What's he going to next? Has he been playing the right song at this moment in time? like What's happening right now? It's not a bad vibe to have. I'm just saying.
01:49:50
Speaker
And yeah mere I know you said you got, you know, you're, you're, you're doing the guitar thing. You guys don't have a guitar player. Is that, was that something that you wanted to do or was it out in the sense of, or is it something you like an instrument that you enjoyed playing?
01:50:07
Speaker
I do enjoy playing it, um but I think it would help a lot if we had a lead player. i'm good I'm decent, I'm good with rhythm, um but just having somebody that understands the nuances of guitar, I would say. like I play guitar because very rhythmically to fit my voice, um but to have somebody that can add a whole other element in, I think would be huge yeah speaking yes yeah
01:50:37
Speaker
as ah as a As a singer, i want to ask you the same thing. who Who were some of your your your influences? Who did you, you know, as a singer, who who were you like, wow, I really like this person yeah and look up to?
01:50:50
Speaker
Hayley Williams is obviously fantastic. Like, to me, and she can sing no wrong. the But love the way she writes. Yeah. lacy stern i love the way she writes um just her, the layers of meaning in her lyrics are fantastic.
01:51:08
Speaker
um Very recently, I've been listening to a lot of Kelly Clarkson and just interesting um trying different styles, like trying to emulate different people just to expand what my voice can do and the styles my voice can do. And as Christian said, make it Christian and make it Meredith.
01:51:28
Speaker
yeah But just the talent behind some of those singers And gives me something to, I haven't met a song yet that I've been like, Oh, I can't sing that.
01:51:39
Speaker
So it's very fun for me to find a song that's difficult and say, okay, let's do it. Like let's work towards it get to how I feel is the best I can do. So, yeah.
01:51:53
Speaker
but I mean, Kelly Clarkson. Wow. What a crazy voice she has on her. And she's like, I'm going to host television show. yeah Really?
01:52:04
Speaker
That's what you're going to do now? Hey, pays the bills at the end of the day. i Literally! I like Christian. I like the he thinks. You guys are like long lost. so type We're on the same page on the lot tonight. I like this. It's so funny. when you You brought up
Songwriting Inspirations
01:52:31
Speaker
songwriting. So when it comes to songwriting,
01:52:33
Speaker
Do you guys write from personal experiences or do you just something pop in your head and you're like, I can make a song out of this? You know, driving down the road, you're like, where where do you get your... Both.
01:52:49
Speaker
I take a lot of inspiration from different quotes, things I hear people say. i have a notes app, like you can scroll down for years of just ideas, lines that I'll wake up in the middle of the night and be like, that's a cool line. I'm going write that down before I forget it.
01:53:04
Speaker
ah And some things like take a single song, for instance, one line could be, oh, that was a cool thing that person said. The next line would be, huh, that is by personal experience.
01:53:16
Speaker
And so it definitely goes back and forth for sure.
01:53:21
Speaker
Yeah. I'm always curious to poke into the mind of a songwriter and see, you know, there you can you can almost hear a song and go, ooh, sounds like they lived that.
01:53:33
Speaker
Like that's, that's kind of personal. That really kind of, kind of hits a chord and other times it's like, Hey, you know, they're making something a little relatable. They're having fun, you know, type, type of thing. Um,
01:53:45
Speaker
um and It's always one of those things that strike my curiosity. Mandy said, dude, I'm scared. Someone who thinks like my bro. but but that's a really real after yeah I have a, she's my, but she's, she's kind of adopted me where we met online.
01:54:03
Speaker
We became friends online and she adopted me as her younger bro, as her younger brother. So, good um So I want to ask you guys, i we're getting getting close to time here and whatnot, but I do want to ask you guys, do you have, what's your
Aspirations for Festival Performances
01:54:22
Speaker
what's your goal? Like you want to do like sellout stadiums? Is there an artist you would love to be able to tour with? Music festival you guys would love to play? Like what what do you guys want to achieve? All of above.
01:54:35
Speaker
I want to play with all the artists, all the music festivals, and all the stadiums. and We want to sell want to sell out MSG. in For real. It's one of those things that we just want to take as far as we possibly can.
01:54:52
Speaker
And we obviously have dreams and aspirations that we want to reach toward. And what's very interesting, a lot of it is opportunity for sure. um But seeing the growth in just the past two years,
01:55:06
Speaker
in every aspect of the band is very encouraging and it just doubles. It's doubled this year from last year and it tripled from the year before, which is fantastic. And we literally just want to take it as far as we can go.
01:55:18
Speaker
um we would love if we could live pretty comfortably and do music for the rest of our lives. There you go heard that. There's nothing wrong with that. Hey, it beats doing that medical billing. You know? I'm worried.
01:55:36
Speaker
Um, maybe said who ultimate bucket list to play with. So I might get a little flack for this. But I would love to play with Falling in Reverse.
01:55:48
Speaker
um I know Ronnie Radke is an acquired taste. I love his drummer that's playing with him now is Luke Holland.
01:56:01
Speaker
And I've been watching him for years. So I feel like I definitely would love to tour with them. I think that'd be cool, fun time. Yeah. i they They are an acquired taste, that's for sure. yeah But they make good music.
01:56:14
Speaker
They make good music. yep Any interview or anybody that asks me this question, I swear it changes every single time. It does, yeah. But I think Nickelback would be really cool. That would be cool. That would be cool.
01:56:28
Speaker
but but I think the juxtaposition could be very neat as well. Mm-hmm. So I don't have one band, but I have like four of like my all time favorite. Okay. Personally. now i There you go. through it One, Sleeping Sirens.
01:56:47
Speaker
Love them. Pierce the Veil. and i knew that one. Yeah. Beartooth. I love Beartooth. I should have guessed that. And then Paramore. I thought you were going to say Black Veil Bruins. Paramore.
01:57:00
Speaker
he it just on a para more just My style of music changes a lot. That's true. like one Like one month, I could be like, this is the band.
01:57:11
Speaker
And the next month, I'm like, no, this is the band. My music changes a Just that couple months ago, so heavy into K-pop. like That's all on she wants to do. Oh my god. You know what?
01:57:25
Speaker
I'll give K-pop this. It is very catchy. And it is hard to walk away. it is it is it It is very hard to walk away from when it comes on. their like if it comes out of point I'm like, what in the world is this on my playlist?
01:57:40
Speaker
Why can I not turn it off? she
01:57:45
Speaker
i I can't not listen. Must listen. Must listen. It is a... it it is it is ah it is it's ah it's I mean, it's catchy, and it's and you can definitely vibe to it.
01:57:59
Speaker
It's definitely a sound. We'll call it that. Yeah. but I'm the same way. i i my My music taste is all over. i I'm more lean towards like rock and country, but I'm an old-school hip-hop head.
01:58:14
Speaker
I shock a lot of people. when i when I tell them that I'm into old school hip-hop, because they're like, you know about old school hip-hop? All right, here we go. Let's run down this class session, because apparently ah you know I'm not supposed to know anything about it.
01:58:29
Speaker
um But I also like, I also am a big fan of certain genres, like like the 50s and the 20s and stuff like that. i just love the or the eras, not the genres, the eras of music. 50s and 60s, like, I'm a sucker for them.
01:58:43
Speaker
That would be nice where I'll just If nobody's home, next thing I know, I'm listening to La Bamba, Buddy Holly, and and and then other doo-wop bands, and i'm just like, what is happening right now? best thing about music is that they're so diverse.
01:58:58
Speaker
The best playlists are ADD, and mine are. Sometimes I have to yeah
01:59:07
Speaker
yeah best the best playlist are add and minor art sometimes i have to Remind myself when certain people in the car, do not go crazy on your playlist because it's all over the place. so But ah do want I don't want to take up too much of your guys' this time. i told you guys it would be about two hours.
01:59:28
Speaker
i i you know I would love to have you guys back again sometime to talk some more. You guys are you guys are awesome. Definitely look forward to hopefully making the trip up in October if you guys are in Ohio. you know If you get here beforehand, I'll be keeping an eye out.
01:59:44
Speaker
um I would definitely i'd love to have you guys come back up and catch up and see where you guys are and what you got going on down the road. We're going to keep playing your music here. And if there's anything that we can do to help promote music or promote songs, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
02:00:01
Speaker
That is the whole idea for this show. And the whole reason I i i do these interviews is to put a spotlight on on on the up and coming artist. So that goes past the interview.
02:00:13
Speaker
you know That goes with new music and all that stuff. Or anything that we can do. We'll throw it up in our stories for you. We can throw it up a post for you. you know Don't be shy. Thank you much. Best of luck to you guys. You guys you guys are fun.
02:00:28
Speaker
I figured you guys were going to be fun. I don't know who I was talking to on social. I don't know if it was Christian. I know he runs everything. It was yeah it bounces when it's... um Social media, you'll get him. If it's scheduling, you'll get me. Yeah.
02:00:42
Speaker
So it's kind of food there. it's it's Sometimes you get lost in interpretation when you're just texting. I'm a big yeah voice guy, but I also have to remind myself, these people don't know you. Don't voice text them.
02:00:59
Speaker
But sometimes you get lost in interpretation. But I can tell you guys are going to be super cool. You a vibe about you. So absolutely. The best of luck to you guys. there Now, you're more than welcome to hang out. I'm going to actually play one more song, and then going to do my little spiel and all that jazz.
02:01:19
