00:00:41
Speaker
Good, how are you? i how was you yeah How was your weekend? I know you had a busy weekend.

Tom's Anniversary and Weird Al Concert

00:00:49
Speaker
By the way, yeah before you get into it, I just want to wish you and your wife a happy anniversary.
00:00:56
Speaker
Oh, thank you. anniversary so Thanks for reminding me. I should probably do something about that. um ah it's uh yeah i mean i guess if only yeah i only know because my wife reminded me about well i'm glad your wife told you about my anniversary because i i mean to be fair like my wife and i and i don't know how you guys are trevor but like we're we've been married long enough now that we don't really make a big to do about it you know like it's it's it's more like a you know just like a here's some flowers in a card and you know Yeah. Being married. High five. Like, we're the same way. We don't put a bunch of emphasis into it because, yeah, like you said, it's, you know, we've been married for us. It's been over 20 years now. So it's, know, it's not to say that it's like we're on 12. But still happens. But but yeah, it's still that kind of like you said, it's that. Oh, yeah. You know, we we show each other our affection, but we don't make like a big like.
00:01:50
Speaker
party out of it or anything yeah yeah exactly yeah like so you know we don't really exchange gifts and and i mean so my gift to my wife has been what i've been spending my entire weekend on which is i i've told you about it i don't think i've talked about the show but i i've been redoing our master bedroom closet right so yeah i've been i i painted it and then we're doing uh you know putting in like the built-in stuff and So I spent much of my weekend doing that.
00:02:17
Speaker
And that's been very physically taxing. I have never felt older than I have this weekend. Just like my leg hurts. My fingers are like, I'm just I'm I just feel every malady possible.
00:02:32
Speaker
And then so and then last night. we had the Weird Al concert that we talked about previously, which is also was also kind of a ah anniversary celebration for us, too. right We decided we were going to do the concert as like a thing for our anniversary. and ah Just to bring it back to... Well, first of all, the other reason I'm exhausted is that you know we didn't get home from the concert until like 11.45 night.
00:02:55
Speaker
But the other part of it, Trevor, so yesterday was the set the record for the highest ah heat in in Charlotte ever.
00:03:08
Speaker
Oh, wonderful. For this particular day. Well, yeah, wonderful, especially when you're going to a concert at an outdoor venue, which offers no shade or, you know, air conditioning or anything like that.
00:03:20
Speaker
It's a water. Dude, I so it's actually funny because I misread the email that they sent us and I thought they said you couldn't bring in your own water bottles, but you actually could. And which my wife told me and I was like, no, I got an email about it and it said, you know, you couldn't. And then we got there and she's like, look at all of the water bottles are right here. And i'm like, ah yeah, I'm an idiot. Apparently, yeah that would be insane. Honestly, like anyone say no water like.
00:03:43
Speaker
I don't know. i just I think that's an insane thing to block people. well but So then we get there, though, and I, of course, so i go and you know I go and buy some waters, but this is this is this was infuriating, by the way. So they had they had the, um oh gosh, what are they called? Liquid death. and you know So they were in the cans. of water yeah look So of course it was like seven bucks of water. And I'm just like, look,
00:04:04
Speaker
it's It's crazy hot out. I'm going to buy four of these, which is which is fine, right? But then he's like, oh, you have we have to open them. I'm like, what do you mean you have to open them? He's like, he goes, that's the rules. You got to open them. I'm like, it's not alcohol. It's water.
00:04:19
Speaker
And he's like, yeah, we got to open them. So now here's me with four cans. Four open cans. Yeah. carrying them all the way across this amphitheater whatever it was fine uh but i mean it was dude the heat was brutal just absolutely brutal i mean it was 100 degrees when we got there which is what i guess 37 yeah yeah 37 ish yeah it's about 37 that's really hot up here yeah dude it was sweltering um by 10 p.m it was still 85 degrees um um And it was at one point. So like once we got to that point, it wasn't hot anymore. It was just humid, which is almost worse.
00:04:56
Speaker
You know, because you're you just feel gross. You just feel like, you know, sweaty. and And, you know, there were a lot of fragrances coming from the crowd around us. you know So um that being said, i i waited, you know, 30 years of my life to see Weird Al. And I was not disappointed. It was a great show.
00:05:17
Speaker
Really fantastic. He puts on... Dude is 65 years old, man. And i he is... He doesn't act like he is. No. Like, he's... Yeah, he's incredible. Yeah, I mean, like, the physicality what he was doing, all the... dads Tons of costume changes.
00:05:32
Speaker
And by the way, to tie this back to Disney, he did he did do Skipper Dan, which is ah ah a ah song I forgot about. but i'm like Yeah, Skipper Dan, though, is about...
00:05:42
Speaker
The Jungle Cruise. Jungle Cruise. Yeah. yeah I mean, it's not really about the... I mean, it's kind of about the Jungle Cruise, but kind of not, right? like And then, I mean, his whole... and And listen, spoiler alert, if anybody's going to see Weird Al on this tour, um but you know he does the encore, and the encore is all his Star Wars stuff, right? and And he had full... on He had like...
00:06:02
Speaker
I want to say eight stormtroopers on the stage with him, like full on real star trooper outfit, is stormtrooper outfits and ah and a Darth Vader, you know, with light up everything. And then he also had the, the R2D2 robot that like moves and beeps and goes around and like spins around and stuff. Like he had that on stage with him too.
00:06:20
Speaker
I was like, dude, ah he really does it up. And then he did you know he he did one of his, and if anybody knows Weird Al, he does like these little polka things where he like does like his polka mixes. Yeah. yeah Yeah. So like you know he does like a couple lines of ah of a you know current or or song and then like moves on to a next one really quickly with the accordion and all that.
00:06:41
Speaker
They kind of did that at the end of the show. But at one point, he busts into Grim Grinning Ghosts. Which was random. Really? Dude, I was so mad at myself, though, that I didn't because I was like, I well i mean, if I would known he was going to do it, I would have recorded it.
00:06:54
Speaker
But like, yeah, like because they're doing like this whole thing. And then he just goes into Grim Grinning Ghosts. And ah it was like it was awesome. But it was only for like 10 seconds and it was so great.
00:07:06
Speaker
um I did um i did ah have Karen ah record when they did ah when they did canadian Canadian Idiot, right? And then i had ah I had her send it to your wife, but she didn't respond. And I was like, I hope ah your wife understands that we what we were doing there.
00:07:23
Speaker
I actually asked my wife about that and she didn't get it. So I really think. Okay. Yeah. Cause I said, I said, Karen sent you something and she was like, Oh, I didn't see anything. So I'll think. Okay. yeah Maybe, shet maybe, maybe it didn't go through. Maybe it didn't go through. But I, cause I was like, I listen, I was so sweaty. I have my phone in my pocket and it was one of those times where i was like, I'm not even going to try to get my phone out of my pocket. Like, I don't want to just deal with it. Right. And so my wife had her phone on and she was recording stuff and i'm like, record this and send it to Trevor's wife so Trevor can see it.
00:07:51
Speaker
Like, you know what I mean? But, um but yeah, no, dude, it was, it was, it was awesome. If anybody uses even remotely and I finally figured out too, by the way, why there were tons of kids there. I was shocked.
00:08:04
Speaker
I, I, this is what we said, or you know, we were talking about this is, but I feel like, yeah, what? Okay. So yeah I figured out because he recently did the theme song for captain underpants, right?
00:08:17
Speaker
So like that is just one gateway, but he also did the theme song for some recent Disney show that I'm not familiar with, but he did one for that. ah He's been doing some kid show theme songs and cartoons. did Milo Murphy Law. Yes, and he played it.
00:08:32
Speaker
He played it. yeah So i'm as I'm seeing these things, I'm like, well, that's why kids know him. like Because there were a ton of kids there. I was really... It was a really interesting crowd in that it was a lot of older people like my age and then older than me. And then also just some young families, too. And and we were talking to one of the the there was a young family next to us. And I, you know, we were just kind of chatting about it. And I said it was kind of cool to see the kids were there. And she goes, she goes, yeah, like, it's just it's nice to know you come to a show like this. And it's you know, it's going to be, you know, pretty clean. And this is not going to be anything like that. um
00:09:03
Speaker
You know, anything anything that you have to worry about with your kids. I mean, you know, there's a all ages show. is Yes. Yes. What it is. Yeah. Of course, there's a lot of innuendo and stuff like that, but a lot of it just goes over kids' heads. You know, it's not, you know, so, but it was great. And then his opener was the something called Puddles Pity Party. I don't know if you're familiar with this, Trevor. again I'm actually, I'm strangely familiar with Puddles Pity Party and not because of America's Got Talent.
00:09:28
Speaker
So, okay. So I hadn't, I don't watch America's Got Talent. Right. So like, I didn't know anything about this guy, but obviously a lot of people did. And the people next to us said that he was on America's Got Talent. i was like, okay, cool. I mean, he was really funny. I enjoyed him a lot and he went over very well with the word out. ah but Yeah. So, so before he went on AGT, um, so I first saw him on a YouTube channel called postmodern jukebox.
00:09:49
Speaker
okay um where they do like where they do like um like retro covers of new songs and stuff like that and they would have him on there as a guest so i i first saw him like like he's an incredible singer oh yeah he is like he's incredible he's fantastic and i mean he totally fits in with the weird al vibe right like he's he's got that like weirdness about him that you're like yeah this this totally this totally fits with the rest of this concert Yeah, I mean, and he, I mean, you know, like, so again, spoiler, like like Weird Al did a whole thing for, he started off with Tacky, right? And and he did he kind of recreates the music video yeah in the in this in this in the ah venue, right? I've seen different iterations of that. It's been making its way around that. It's awesome. Every venue he goes to, he does it. Yeah. Yeah. and But yeah there was also like a bit as he was walking in where he wear Puddles hands him a pie and then he hands the pie to a but someone dressed as a banana and then the banana pies Puddles. Puddles, yep. It's like, what's going on here? But still, it was like, again, it was great. It was absurd. it was super fun. I wish I would have seen him sooner, but I am exhausted, Trevor.
00:10:54
Speaker
I'm glad you got exactly what you paid for because like like Weird Al is honestly like the safest bet for that kind of stuff. And, yeah yeah and you know, and it's funny, like you're talking about how, um you know, you know, the kids have gotten into it is that, you know, he honestly, he is one of the few things that I see as timeless in that. Yeah, I agree. You know, you know, from when we from when he started till now, he has made himself relevant through multiple generations, which is honestly amazing.
00:11:23
Speaker
And, you know, you kind of you know, back to our like, you know, the last week conversation about like Indiana Jones and stuff like Weird Al kind of weirdly sits in that same echelon of. Yeah. Like, you know, he's one of those things that he does. it It's like, oh, yeah yeah, it doesn't matter if it's kids or adults or whatever, or like if there's been anything recent around him.
00:11:44
Speaker
Yeah. People know who he is. Right. And you said like, yeah, there is shows that he's done. But even outside of that, like people still just know who he is. Right. Yeah. Yeah. so My only regret is that I wish I would have been at ah at an indoor venue, but I didn't really have a choice in that. So and um i like the venue, though. I loved the venue.
00:12:03
Speaker
I just didn't like that it was 100 degrees. You know, at least ah my brother went to a concert in Toronto and they had they they had to do an outdoor venue thing. But apparently their their big venue is under construction. So they actually have been doing all their concerts at an abandoned airport.
00:12:22
Speaker
So that's kind of cool, actually. Yeah, it's not close to anything, though. so I want you i want you out there that are not familiar with this to Google the Asbury Park Convention Center, because when I was a kid, I saw many a concert at the Asbury Park Convention Center and the Asbury Park Convention Center, for those that don't know, is a New Jersey.
00:12:45
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, it was nice at one point, but it's it hasn't been in a long time. um Convention hall that you're talking about? Yes, the convention hall. Yes.
00:12:56
Speaker
Listen, it's a very, very cool old venue, but it's also a dump. so um um Yeah, I'm that. Yeah. Yeah. Listen, again, I don't want to trash on it because it is a it's a historic building and it was a really cool place to see concerts, but it also is just like a dump.
00:13:14
Speaker
Anyway, love. Sorry, I'm sorry. We end for those that are I apologize to anybody out there. These like, you know why they just talk about weird alpha 10 minutes. Apologies. No, no, This needed to happen, and it still has it's Disney adjacent. It is, actually, yeah. He he does very much have ties to Disney, even the fact that he did all the Star Wars stuff. Like, he you know, he does all of his parodies and stuff he gets with approval from yeah the people that he's parodying. So even the Star Wars stuff, like, he's talked to George Lucas, and and I'm sure, like like, he's got something set up. So, like, Disney's just like, yeah, you know, he can have stormtroopers on stage and
00:13:50
Speaker
I'm telling you, that those costumes were, if i mean if they weren't provided by Lucasfilm, I mean, they were... Theme park show quality yes ah costumes. yeah And then again, he had an R2-D2 working robot on the stage with him. Now, I remember when Disney a couple years ago was selling those.
00:14:09
Speaker
so But I mean, i doubt he just went to like you know you know shop Disney and bought one. yeah he ah he He got something made for him. yeah absolutely um so anyway yeah it was listen it was a great show i highly recommend to anybody who wants to go check it out and i i actually didn't know the captain underpants theme song and i was in i enjoyed that as well um but yeah it was uh it was it was fun it was a good time so anyway nice all right well i i know you've been talking about this for a bit so i'm glad it went as you expected it to so but uh
00:14:42
Speaker
Yeah, you're right. We should probably move on from this and talk about some ah some Disney news. So I guess the first thing on here, you know, because and I'm going to keep getting on this.

Disney Holiday Party Plans

00:14:55
Speaker
I don't care. I'm going to keep ragging on them for this. Is that, you know, oh boy hey, hall holiday party tickets are available for 2025. So, yeah um you know, if you want your...
00:15:05
Speaker
What are you going to give me a hard time about with this? Because it's it's still July and we're talking about Christmas. Come on. Okay. There's only one reason I put this on here. Okay. Well, there's two. act is Let me take that back. There's two reasons. Okay.
00:15:19
Speaker
One is we hadn't talked before. Apparently DVC members can claim a free gift when attending the party, which is cool. Okay. Okay. I want a free gift. interesting I like free gifts. um It looks like you have to stop by McKim's Mile House to get it, which fine.
00:15:34
Speaker
I will. There's going to be cookies and beverages there you know also. but ah That's a nice bonus at the ah yeah holiday party. Yeah. Yeah, but the second reason is i have purchased tickets. I am doing it this year. Oh, sweet.
00:15:47
Speaker
And yeah I assume you made use of the DVC discount that they're talking about. So coher fun enough there, Trevor. I was like, wait, how do I apply my discount? Do I have to, you know, and should i have the contact do it will it automatically be applied? Do I have to contact DVC?
00:16:02
Speaker
Well, Trevor, the date that I'm going, November 25th, the discount does not apply. Really? Yeah. Yeah. So only the the beginning date. Well, there's only certain dates that actually qualify for the discount. And it's in this article here. so like November 11th, 13th, 16th, 18th, 20th, 14th, 7th, 30th, December 2nd and 4th eligible for the discount. The rest of the are not.
00:16:22
Speaker
seventh thirtieth december second and fourth are eligible for the discount the rest of the dates are not so And I am going on. I'll tell everyone. I don't care. I'm going November 25th. So if anyone else is going to be there, let me know. all all We can meet up. I can say, hey, um we're going to try to get my daughter to go on Space Mountain.
00:16:42
Speaker
We'll see. I mean, yeah. it's like I believe it was a couple of years ago. I'm pretty. can't remember if it an after hours or Christmas party. But I know. Sorry. I think it was an after hours.
00:16:53
Speaker
Yeah. Or maybe I'm misremembering this. I did. I did meet Jeremy in the park um yeah briefly the one night. Yeah. Yeah, I've got a fair of listeners around. I'm sorry. i i'm I'm kind of blanking on that because there was it was a little, or maybe it was in January. i I apologize, Jeremy. I don't remember the exact dates when we met because yeah it's all kind of blurred together over time. Yeah, over I get it. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, there was that one COVID trip that I took where I met like so many listeners. Like it was it was crazy.
00:17:22
Speaker
um But yeah, I mean, I don't know. I tend to to run kind of quiet on on trips. But again, I'm telling everybody, listen, if you're going to if you're going to the 25th party, let me know. I'll say, hey, I mean, you know, let's meet up.
00:17:34
Speaker
So that's awesome. i'm I'm happy for you because we're not going to get to go to a holiday holiday party this year. so yeah, i did i actually i actually was able to convince um my sister and my brother in law to come with us as well as my mom. So it's going to be a whole family shindig.
00:17:51
Speaker
Pretty excited for it, though. I mean, we're not going to tell my daughter. It's going to be surprise. So. Oh, yeah. She yeah. She's still at that age where I guess you can surprise her with yes stuff like that. So, yeah, that's great.
00:18:02
Speaker
And i I like doing the surprise thing. It's really hard to keep it to yourself, though. You know, you just want to tell them, you know? Oh, yeah. But yeah we we did that once and then and we realized after we did it, it was like, yeah, it's so much harder to not tell them when you're planning a trip because like you end up just doing so much planning leading up to it. And even things like going to like a holiday party, like even if she knows about the trip and not the holiday party, it's still very easy to like.
00:18:29
Speaker
let it slip. and yeah Yeah. Yeah. Well, we, we are, we, I, I am good with keeping surprises a secret. My wife is not. but So, um, in fact, we typically, if we do exchange Christmas gifts, which we don't always, we're not, we really only will do it. If there's something like we see that we, you know, think the other person will like, we're not big gift people for each other. We rather just do stuff together, you know?
00:18:53
Speaker
Um, so but if she does have something for me it i never get it on christmas i always get it weeks beforehand because she just can't keep it inside she needs to let it out you know um so yeah oh my gosh there's a thunderstorm going on here trevor i heard that did you hear it okay i did hear that wow yeah it's really loud that yeah it was i heard it over my headphones geez okay the If this show is very short, you all will know why.
00:19:22
Speaker
Well, so I don't usually, this is fun it's a fun story. i don't usually lose power here. i We've lived here for 12 years, 11 years, right?
00:19:34
Speaker
We've lost power maybe four times. And we've had hurricanes come through and not lose power, right? Right. The other day, though, it was so hot, Trevor. Yeah. It was so hot that our our power line caught on fire just randomly for no apparent reason other than it was 100 and some degrees out.
00:19:49
Speaker
um And then we lost power for four hours. Here's where the fun comes in, though, Trevor. My wife and I both found out that day that neither one of us have a house key. Yeah. Oh, how are you getting into your house? We go. Well, we both put we both use our garage. And so we never use house keys. We just open the garage. We go in.
00:20:08
Speaker
Well, all fine and good. But we were all we were out. So my wife was somewhere. My daughter and I were at the pool. Power goes out. We come home. Garage door doesn't work. We are now locked out of the house.
00:20:19
Speaker
Yeah.
00:20:22
Speaker
Yeah. Now, needless to say, we both have one now. But anyway, no, I shouldn't be losing power. So we'll we'll see. I'm probably more likely to lose Internet more than anything. But um anyway. ah back Back to the holiday party. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So just um sharing my own experience with it. I went with my parents to a holiday party. So it was it was our family and and just my parents. But.
00:20:43
Speaker
that That alone, like it it was really cool because my parents had never done anything like that before. um I don't know about your family if you've ever done. or We've never done one of these parties. We've done the dessert parties, but we've never done a holiday party. my and before Before my daughter was born, my wife and I used to do the after hours. like Not the after hours, but like the dessert the like the different kind of dessert parties they would have. We did we did them all the time.
00:21:05
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. So, so like, you know, when we did it with my parents, like they, my parents were really blown away by it because we were like, yeah, this is, you know, this is a special ticketed thing. You know, everyone else is going to leave the park. Yeah. We, you know, we have full access to everything, grab cookies, grab whatever, you know, they, they were going around just like fully enjoying it all.
00:21:24
Speaker
And, uh, you know, you know, they said to me afterwards, they were, they were like, you know, they they were glad that they were with us because, they would have been completely lost trying to do something like that on their own.
00:21:35
Speaker
But, yeah but it's very cool. Like it, that's such a cool thing to share with your family because yeah um it does make for like a, like that. um i don't want to say it feels like ah that classic Christmas, like family memory.
00:21:50
Speaker
Like, like even though it's, it's obviously very modern and everything now, it just, it always, the holiday party to me feels like, you know, you know, it's something where it's like, yeah, this is something me and my family all can like,
00:22:01
Speaker
You know, reminisce on and be like, remember, you remember when we went and did that? So, yeah, yeah that i'm I'm sure you guys will have a great time. That's that's kind of why we want to do it. Listen, my ah Christmas is my mom's favorite holiday. It always has been. She loves Christmas. She loves doing doing decoration. She loves the tree. She loves the present. She loves all of it. Oh, so she's just going to be in her glory. I mean. street. This is the funny thing, Trevor, right? Like, so my mom, like she really likes Disney stuff and she sometimes listens to the show and everything, but she, you know, she doesn't, she doesn't deep dive into stuff. Right.
00:22:31
Speaker
So like I, I pitched, I pitched this to her and i was like, Hey, do you want to do this? And she was like, yeah, totally. This sounds awesome. Right. Whatever. And then like maybe a couple days later, she goes, so what exactly is this party? And I'm like, wait, you agreed to it? So not even knowing what it is just because it's a Christmas party. And she's like, yeah, disney and it's Christmas. Yeah. Yeah. That's literally all she needed to know was Disney Christmas party.
00:22:50
Speaker
Yeah. yeah Right. And I was like, okay, cool. um You know, like, I'm glad that you're, you're, you're down for this, but oh my gosh, man. Yeah.
00:23:01
Speaker
ah Leave the thunder in. It's fine. All right. This is crazy. I well therate i mean, we need rain badly. So this is good. Yeah. It's been raining here for like a week. So, oh yeah. this nurse Well, it was also a hundred some degrees here today too. So the rain hopefully will cool things down a little bit, but yeah anyway.
00:23:16
Speaker
ah So yeah, make sure though that you, make sure you get a good spot for the, uh, for the parade. Cause yeah, I don't, yeah. Like, Yeah, again, people don't always understand. like You got to you gotta find a spot for that. Even though it's a ticketed party, like it still gets busy along the parade route.
00:23:35
Speaker
so Well, and I'm assuming because I'm going the week of Thanksgiving and because they're not offering the discount i and and because the tickets are more expensive, it's going to be a rough one. like yeah It's still limited because it can sell out.
00:23:49
Speaker
Rough perspective. or or like It'll be busier, but it's still not going to be busy business. That's what I'm saying. Like, it's still limited. It'll still sell out and everything, but I just assume that it's going to be sold out and it's going to be busy. So it's going to be interesting because I haven't done one of these ever. And I also haven't... We haven't done an after, you know, like a dessert party or firework party in a long time now. Probably since my daughter was born.
00:24:17
Speaker
it's um it's I'm almost going to have to like get back you know into that and and actually like do some research and actually know what I'm doing. because i Like you just said, you get a good spot for the parade. i yeah I hadn't even thought about it yet, but yeah. we you know we We'll take this offline um because i get I can share some yeah Some of my experiences from the yeah again, we went just a couple of years ago, but you know, a lot this is the stuff that I know. This is the blind spot for me.
00:24:43
Speaker
Disney blind spot. Okay, fair enough. well we will We will get you up to speed on that because there are a few things that I, I believe there's a couple of things you should absolutely do as part of it that, um it and it's not like character meets and stuff like that. Like there's a few rides that you should really prioritize because yeah overlays are...
00:25:00
Speaker
are insane. at but I really want to do space mountain. Cause I've seen videos as ever before and it looks awesome. And I, I feel like that's how we get my daughter on it. Cause it's more lit up than it usually is. And I think we can get my daughter. Yeah.
00:25:12
Speaker
Yeah. It's so incredibly like lit up and, Um, the, what, or me and my son joked about is it was, it was like a flash bang going off when, but like, by the time you get off the ride, because there is so like, it's dark, but then there's so many lights that like, you're kind of blinded for a second. Yeah. i get that. Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, yes. Space mountain a Tomorrowland speedway is a must. We will definitely do that as well. Yeah. well We will definitely, my daughter likes doing that. Although my daughter figured out the last time we were there that she didn't actually have to steer. So she just stopped steering. Yeah.
00:25:43
Speaker
that's fine too i'm just like okay great uh the whole idea of this is for you to pretend like you're driving a car and she's like but i don't have to steer it's on a track i'm like just be a kid for like 10 seconds. Come on.
00:25:56
Speaker
Like, you know, so anyway, um the other thing that's going on right now too, and this is not exclusive to DVC members. I don't think, right. I think I've seen this for other people too, but DVC DVC members can get a $75 Disney gift card when purchasing a new sorcerer annual pass at Walt Disney world.
00:26:13
Speaker
Well, that's, that's great. um You know, first of all, two meals, Yeah, that's like, yeah, exactly. First of all, let's, let's, let's let's ah let's, let's look at this really quickly here. Okay. So first of all, the gift cards, it says ranges depending on the type of pass purchased DVC members. So you got to be a blue card member for this one.
00:26:33
Speaker
And, and the other thing we should note is the passes, you know, a thousand, $1,079. So the $75 you're getting, I mean, you know, yeah. I mean, like I said, yeah, it saves you a meal or two, but you're spending far more on the pass. Anyway, I get kind of when you, when you put it like that, it is kind of a weird little gesture because of how expensive the pass is. I mean, but I listen, it gets you, you know, it's enough incentive for a lot of people though. You know what i mean? Like it's not, it's like, it's enough to push some people over the edge. It seems right.
00:27:11
Speaker
That's true. I mean, But I guess, you know, if ah if I was in the market for a annual pass anyway, like, yeah, yeah I guess, you know, I would take anything that they're offering. And and yeah, you're right. if If I was like thinking about, oh, I'm going to get a pass like next year, this might just speed up me getting the pass just for the sake of getting the gift card.
00:27:32
Speaker
So, yeah, I mean, I guess you're right. I guess it is just doing its job is that, you know, it's it's pushing people towards it that may have been on the fence. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And, and yeah, just, so just looking at the, this article, so the, um so it's saying, yeah, so, so it, it is varied by the, yeah the type of pass, the most expensive one, the Incredi pass gets you a hundred dollar gift card. Yeah. that Big hundred dollar spender. But if you do the, or, you know, for Florida residents, there's the pirate pass, which gets you a $50 gift card for the pixie dust pass, which gets you a $25 gift card That is like,
00:28:11
Speaker
I don't know how like a 25 gift, $25 gift card almost feels insulting at that point. But you know what though? But it, there's some sort of mental thing that happens with gift cards and like, it's like, but I'm getting it for free.
00:28:29
Speaker
there's yeah so five So for almost $500, you get a $25 gift card, which yeah, I guess, you know, that's actually a better deal than the rest of them. Yeah, I guess, yeah, in terms of the the ratio of gift card to yeah price. But it still just feels weird, right? It does, yeah.
00:28:46
Speaker
Yeah. It does, i agree. But still, again, there's like they they understand that there's a there's a psychological marketing thing in people's brains where they're just like, but I'm getting a free thing. It's like it's the same as the the same as the free meal plan thing, Trevor. It's like, first of all, it's not free, number one.
00:29:03
Speaker
you know You're still paying for it. but it It's vacation logic. Yes, exactly. It doesn't have to make sense because you're on vacation and it's a deal and it's saving you money on your vacation. So...
00:29:18
Speaker
Yeah. So so it works. Yes. It's vacation logic. It doesn't actually like work in real worlds. you know It doesn't work as actual math. But, you know, anyway. It doesn't have to. No, it doesn't have to. No.
00:29:30
Speaker
um Can we talk about Fantastic Four, Trevor? i mean Yeah, I guess. Although Fantastic Four is not my favorite Marvel IP, but we'll still talk about anyway.
00:29:42
Speaker
It's not. I just... I mean, I don't know. and I never... There's been a lot of iterations of it, and it's just never... But they've all been bad. Yeah, I mean, this one got fantastic reviews, I mean, and and is doing very well in box office. It seems like they finally actually did a good job for once, so... Yeah.
00:29:57
Speaker
Well, to be fair, this is the first crack that Disney's had at it. It was all the ones before that were, what, Fox? Yeah, they those are all the Fox iterations of it, which, I mean, it's...
00:30:10
Speaker
Not to say that everything Fox did was bad. It's just, yeah. but it was bad i think I think part of it is that Fantastic is...

Fantastic Four Movie and Disney Parks Connection

00:30:20
Speaker
It's honestly, it it comes from a very dated place. And I don't want to say that the IP itself is dated, but, you know, it was built like... Retro.
00:30:28
Speaker
Yeah, it was built as like a retro 50s thing. And the fact that the new movies have embraced that, I think, is why they were successful. is You know, they weren't they weren't trying to do an updated version of it. They kept it as the, like...
00:30:42
Speaker
50s version of the show so because of that though of course you know disney is taking this as an opportunity to uh do some stuff in the parks well let's but trevor i did you so did you see the robot uh herbie yeah i have seen herbie i mean they made an actual one yeah i know that it rolling around yeah like yeah what like actual herbie which is pretty cool like it's extremely cool right yeah Like, this is... Especially since this is a robot that is on a ball wheel thing on the bottom. Yeah, like a... Like a Segway, or not... Or, yeah. It's like ball. It's just like a ball. Yeah, it's not even a wheel, right?
00:31:24
Speaker
Self... I can't remember what the term. It's some kind of stabilizer or something. Gyro. Yeah. yeah Right. But yeah, like it's it's an impressive robot, man. Like it's that's a real life robot that is self. It looks very stable and it's on a wheel. I mean, that's pretty cool. too But fancier.
00:31:42
Speaker
Yeah. And you get to meet it. So, yeah, they're doing meet and greets. Listen, and let's I think everyone knows where these meet and greets are happening everywhere but Disney World. So which I find interesting.
00:31:54
Speaker
which i find funny but because no the funnier thing is the thing i have ah yeah i know might not hear yes i i read that already but we'll get to that to that one so so so yeah the meet and greets with the fantastic four all happening in disneyland they're not you can meet the robot yeah and they're not happening in disney world and and and and i believe this is because of that like you said that Falls under the theme park deal they made forever ago.
00:32:20
Speaker
Exactly. So, yeah, what I mean by that is that like umbrella of IPs are the ones that Disney can't mess with in the parks on the eastern coast because Universal still has theme park rights them.
00:32:32
Speaker
They don't want to you know have any back and forth with Universal about it. But then the thing that I find funny is that, yeah, there there is meet and greets for all these characters. But then do we want to jump right to the the third point? you want i wanted to talk I want to talk about the the the zipper that they're gonna that they're selling. because Okay, like let's talk about that first. Then we'll go to the Universal part next.
00:32:54
Speaker
Yeah, let's, let's, ah but yeah, i so I, the they're doing the meet and greets. They got some special food, you know, it's out there. It's not not, nothing too exciting that I could see, but but, and I, I have to say the, the, the thing meet and greet looks pretty cool. I mean, he, he does look cool. He looks good, but I, and i the, the zipper man is hilarious.
00:33:16
Speaker
The stone or the, it's the thing fist, right? Yeah. It's the fist. Yeah. it It's the full on thing fist. Yeah. they do the same thing with the Infinity Gauntlet? They did do the Infinity Gauntlet. They did... um Yeah, i just I just think it's hilarious. I don't know why.
00:33:35
Speaker
It just makes me laugh. like i'm just I want people walking around with that. you know did they They did it with the Hulk hand, too, didn't they? Yes, they did. Yeah, I thought they did. yeah and Okay, but but you're...
00:33:48
Speaker
You're ignoring that. that and I thought this was a churro. This is a mozzarella stick. And that's. Oh, yeah. That was all over the Internet. That thing. Yeah. So I was because it looks like bluish green. Right.
00:34:01
Speaker
Yeah. so So where is it here? I'm trying. Yeah. It's the fantastic elastic mozzarella stick. Served with sour cream and onion ranch. But this thing is like blue. It's so blue. yeah the the little The little thumbnail picture of it. I was like, is like a nunchuck or something? like it It just looked like this weird thing. And I was like, oh, maybe it's like a churro with like you know something in the middle. No, no. This is a mozzarella stick that is dyed blue.
00:34:29
Speaker
like That's so... i Dude, i listen. Maybe it tastes really good. i don't know. I mean, listen. It's very blue. But no, there was a whole thing on the internet. I saw this transcended Disney blog media. This ended up all over the place because I actually saw it on like a tech website I read. They brought it up and it talked about how horrific it looked. but it It really is awful. I mean, yeah. I don't know what they used to call that, man.
00:34:57
Speaker
The funny thing is, is the one next to it, it's called the Invisible Indulgence, which is a clear lemon pie with a shortbread crust, whipped cream and meringue pieces. That's pretty cool.
00:35:08
Speaker
So yeah, it's like it's like this trans transparent pie thing with with like blue blue meringue on top and all that. Yeah. That's very cool. It's just the weird mozzarella stick. Yeah, it's something about that mozzarella stick.
00:35:24
Speaker
like i always expect Like I said, if it was a churro, I feel like it would have gotten a pass because you can get like you know you know different colored sugars for churros. And i was like, oh, that would have been fine. But as soon as it's like...
00:35:35
Speaker
flipped over to a mozzarella stick i'm like yeah yeah i don't i don't want to eat that yeah it's so weird it's so weird it really is i the i love it so but i love it because it's weird i like it because it's weird too i think it's great and i also i mean i think it would be delicious probably a listen i'm sure the i mean the blue food dye probably has no effect on the taste it's probably still a delicious mozzarella stick i'm sure it's fine Well, but the so the funniest part about this all to me, and and this is not unique to Fantastic Four, by the way, this is this has happened with other things.
00:36:10
Speaker
I just think this is so weird. It makes it it makes sense, but it's weird. So so Universal is selling selling Fantastic Four merch.
00:36:22
Speaker
At Islands of Adventure. Yeah. Marvel Superhero Island in Island of Adventure. And it's not and this is not like like rip off like no selling their own version of they're selling like the movie merch. The legit yeah for the new Fantastic Four movie.
00:36:38
Speaker
But it's a universal. It's weird. But I also know I've looked at the contract before. They have to pay Disney a pretty hefty royalty on anything they sell that's Marvel related. So they're paying Disney for these things.
00:36:51
Speaker
I just think it's so odd to me that Disney owns this stuff and but can't sell the merch at Disney World. But across the street at Universal, here they are selling movie merchandise.
00:37:05
Speaker
it's just it it's It's just weird. Yeah, and because like it's it's bringing you know it's bringing them traffic. It's bringing universal traffic because people are going, oh, I want this merch.
00:37:16
Speaker
No, no, you you know you're not getting this at Epcot. You're not finding this at Magic Kingdom. You're going to Island of Adventure. like it's Yeah, you're right. it's such a It's such an odd thing, but again, we understand it because of the the whole ah you know legal agreement about it, but It's yeah, I just can't believe that I can't believe that it's still just happening so prevalently.
00:37:41
Speaker
That's what I'm that's what I think that's what gets me because i I listen. I know that they sell Marvel merch. This is not like a it's it's not a surprise to me because they they sell it now. Right. Like you can go. Yeah, yeah we we saw that when we were there is like you go into, you know, they have the whole comic book section and there's just there's Marvel stuff everywhere. But I kind of looked at it. It's just weird because it's the current movie. Yeah.
00:38:03
Speaker
Like the stuff they were selling, it was it was kind of like I mean they had like newer stuff. But it was like, oh, yeah, you know, there's like X-Men stuff and you know things that you wouldn't really find ah Disney anyway. Because this is such like a new Disney movie, it's just really weird. It's weird. Yeah. it's just And because we know this is going to be a huge hit, I mean I think it already brought in like what did say? $118 million dollars over the weekend.
00:38:24
Speaker
I mean, it's it's going to be a huge movie, which is why they're doing this. I mean, you know, why why they would do this. But again, they they got to give a cut of all this to Disney anyway. ah So but it's just it's just weird.
00:38:36
Speaker
It's just such an odd situation. Yeah. just just Just the fact that, you know, i yeah especially for people that are don't understand the nuance of it is, you know, you you plan a trip to Florida and you're like, oh, I'm going to pick up some stuff. You know, I like these movies. I'm going to pick up some merch.
00:38:51
Speaker
No, you're not. Yeah. and yeah exactly unless you have you know you know if if you're all in on disney you're missing out on this stuff because you know sorry it's that island of adventure yeah it's just yeah it's it's it's just weird man Just weird. but What would be even crazier is if they actually did the meet and greet.
00:39:10
Speaker
they I mean, they could. might. I mean, they've done it before. and Why wouldn't they? I mean, yeah. I mean, this merch is pretty cool, i actually. i If I were into Fantastic Four, I would you know maybe think about it. But I'm not a big you know buy the t-shirt from the movie guy. So...
00:39:26
Speaker
Yeah, it's like I said, it's just not my favorite Marvel IP. Like I grew up on X-Men. It's a thing. So X-Men. so x So when they redo X-Men, then you're going to be all in. Yeah. I mean, I was definitely paying attention to the fact that Gambit was in the last Deadpool movie. Deadpool, yeah. Deadpool Wolverine. Yeah. So i I saw that and I was like, oh, OK.
00:39:49
Speaker
I want more of this, please. because Because Gambit was one of my favorite. Like Gambit and Nightmare were my favorite characters from. Oh, no. from x-men so nice nice yeah well why don't we go ahead and do our ad and then we got some other stuff to talk about some really interesting stuff actually this one k the the this next topic came out of absolutely nowhere and uh is actually awesome yep so stay tuned for that but first an ad

00:40:50
Speaker
Alright. so Dude, this is... I told my wife about this, by the way, and she was like, that's awesome. I'm like, I know. it is awesome. It is, and it's so overdue. It really is. like Because that whole area is a hot mess. Alright, so let's let's say what this is before we we actually get into giving our opinions.

New Attractions at Disney's Hollywood Studios

00:41:07
Speaker
Okay, so...
00:41:08
Speaker
A new Disney animation inspired experience is coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Now, this will be taking over where Star Wars Launch Bay is. And it will also... They're they're going to be taking down the whole the that whole gateway.
00:41:24
Speaker
It's coming down, which is kind of great. and That whole area has always felt really weird and kind of like... and should have It should have been down once Galaxy's Edge opened up. It's just hung around for way too long. like Absolutely.
00:41:40
Speaker
Just having Launch Bay there was just... Yeah, it felt it felt like you said, it felt weird. It felt stale. It felt like they just didn't know what to do with it. yeah So what they're doing is they're they're doing this. um It's called the magic of Disney animation, which, you know, for those that know back, you know, a long time ago at Hollywood Studios, they did have the animation studio there where you can watch people, you know, doing animation. They had like drawing classes. That kind of stuff is coming back as part of this.
00:42:10
Speaker
Yeah, and they i mean they animated several movies there, or pieces of movies at least there. um so So it's not going to be like the full studio again, but they're going to have a lot of interactive um ah activities and stuff, you know, focused around around animation and and kind of, you know re you know, getting people back into you know understanding the nuances of animation and drawing. And like, even though drawing has not been as prevalent in the last couple of years of Disney, I think still having...
00:42:39
Speaker
You know, a focus on animation there, maybe showing people new techniques of animation is is a great thing. Yeah. um The other big thing which, you know, we have to talk about this is the sorcerer hat is coming back to.
00:42:54
Speaker
Well, it studios is not the, not the way that it was. no like and So, so yeah, i sorry. I, that was a bit clickbait. Yeah, that was, that yeah was there some clickbait right there. I'm to, going to put that in the title. I don't care. Yeah.
00:43:08
Speaker
But it's exciting because it, it is that, you know, the sorcerer's hat was an icon of Hollywood studios yeah and they're, they're bringing it back as part of this animation pavilion, which I feel it makes sense. Like it should absolutely have something like that as the moniker of like, oh, you're going into the animation pavilion or the animation area.
00:43:29
Speaker
Right. Well, the thing that struck me about this, Trevor, was just how open the concept art is, right? Like they are, making this big open courtyard, right? That has, and then they're recreating the animation building for the actual real life Disney animation building in a, in a way, not completely recreating it, obviously, but they're giving it that vibe using the hat. Right. Yeah. And, and that's what's, that's, what's and really cool about it. But like you said, I, I don't know if this will make people happy. It's,
00:43:56
Speaker
It's such a funny thing, the hat, man, because I i know so many people that were like, I can't believe we got rid of the hat. But I also remember a lot of people complaining about it when it was there, when it was like, oh, well, blocks your view of the theater completely.
00:44:07
Speaker
You know, like I didn't care. I liked it. I listen. I know. But I'm just saying there were a lot of people that didn't like it, too. So um but yeah, no, look, this is I think this is really overdue. And then this is they're going to redo this. They're going to revamp this whole space. And it's ah we've been talking for a while. Like.
00:44:22
Speaker
what are they going to do with star Wars launch Bay? Like eventually they're going to do something, right? Cause like, we just knew that they were going to do something. So what this is going to look like, by the way, they're they're mentioning here that um this is going to be inside. You'll interact with and explore silly takes on Disney animation headquarters, um including the many different studio departments. So that's interesting. It says only this time, some of our favorite pals have taken over the crate to create the fun adventures. So I'm not sure what that's going to look like, but it should be interesting. But this also says the playful and interactive moments will be around every corner. You'll see portraits come to life before your eyes, just like they did in Once Upon a Studio, which is the the short film that they that they made. And says ah you'll find inspiration with a short film and then ah pencil in some time to learn how to draw your very own character sketch. so
00:45:08
Speaker
Again, yes it's awesome that that's coming back because I feel... ah Like as much as we all like rides and new attractions, I think this kind of interactive stuff is just as important.
00:45:21
Speaker
Yeah. And, and honestly, Hollywood studios needs it in my opinion. Sure. Hollywood studios has been sorely missing activities outside waiting for, yeah. Like, like you shouldn't just be waiting for like star Wars rides or waiting for, you know,
00:45:35
Speaker
you know, to get into a show, there should be these kinds of, you know, spaces where you can just go in. But I, I quit. It's like interventions, right? Like interventions was such a cool area that there wasn't like any one major attraction. There was just a bunch of fun stuff to figure out.
00:45:52
Speaker
So yeah, they're, they're also mentioned. They're also mentioning here too, it says our youngest animators to be can is explore the drawn to Wonderland playground filled with an oversized flower garden with musical instruments, a mad tea party play set.
00:46:06
Speaker
We don't have concept art of this, by the way, because it'll it says it'll be the perfect whimsical indoor play area. So it's an indoor play area, which is, they're only showing outdoor right now. So this is an indoor area, which is kind of great actually, because you know it would be a good opportunity to get you know get the kids out of the heat, you know?
00:46:24
Speaker
Yeah. do Do you think um we might see more of this kind of stuff coming up? Because i know, you know, the summers are, it's getting hotter and hotter out there. And especially in yeah Florida, I can see the merits of having more indoor areas like this, you know, not not just kid play areas, but just, know,
00:46:42
Speaker
indoor areas in general, i think you're you're going to find more of these going forward. so I would agree. um By the way, the other thing we didn't mention here, too, is that they will be... and i this Is this in the article? I think I read this somewhere else, is that they're changing the Disney Junior show as well.
00:46:59
Speaker
ah so that Yeah, I did see that. i It wasn't in this article. I can't remember where I saw it. Yeah, I saw another article about it. But yeah, yeah so this is i this is, it's also more green space. I love the the green space kind of thing. You know, that's, it's great. the bit They're building like a little park in the middle of this. And it looks like there's like a little walkway that you can walk through it. And it's, that's awesome.
00:47:20
Speaker
And by the, so this, they mentioned this is happening in 2026. They don't, Oh, it it does say it in this article, Trevor. says, as we, used yeah, Disney junior play, play and dance will close on September 25th.
00:47:32
Speaker
So there's still, but the new aerial show is still open, open, but the rest is, is going to be, uh, It's going to be closed and they're going to new show. So, ah yeah, so listen, like i said, this is great. 2026. So this is another new thing that's coming that we didn't know about before.
00:47:47
Speaker
And yeah, kind of a sort of a return of the Sorcerer's Hat kind of. And little bit I mean, it's it's a you know, it's not the Sorcerer's Hat that was in the middle of the park. But I think, you know, the Sorcerer's Hat should have a place in the park.
00:48:02
Speaker
And I think this is a good way to do it is it's not, you know, it's not taking up a view of, of, you know, the, the centerpiece coming into the park, but it's, it's become, I feel that this can become a far more permanent part of the park because the other thing too, is like the these, like this building, like it before was launch bay, like they've repurposed it over the years. Right.
00:48:24
Speaker
Yeah. and And it feels like it was one of those things where, um you know, they didn't quite know what to do with it. Or, you know, they they took away the animation stuff because, like, the animation studio moved out.
00:48:36
Speaker
But they didn't realize the effect it had on, like, having something for people to do in the parks, right? like it Yeah. It all goes back to, like you said, green spaces and having... like in Hollywood studios, i've I've always felt that, you know, unless you're standing, you know, unless you're in galaxy's edge or unless you're in toy story land or wherever, like there wasn't anything really to do or there wasn't anywhere you could like,
00:48:59
Speaker
go and just wander around and like find stuff. Right. Whereas in, in magic kingdom, Epcot and animal kingdom, you can do that. They they all have areas that have like, you know, that there's trails in animal kingdom. Epcot is, I mean, Epcot, there's just yeah like, you know, tons of pavilions, you know, magic kingdom say like, same thing as the, you know, you don't have to be on the rides, but there's lots of, of things to explore. And, and they've, they've got like smaller,
00:49:25
Speaker
smaller things you can, you know, or even like on main street, like, you know, running into like the Dapper Dans and stuff like that. Like there's, there's just that kind of like engagement. And it always felt like Hollywood studios was missing that for a long time.
00:49:40
Speaker
And I'm hoping that this is maybe them realizing that they got to bring some of that back to Hollywood studios. Yeah. Yeah. Seems like that's, that's kind of why I don't, or why part of why I didn't like Hollywood studios is it always felt like I was going there for like,
00:49:53
Speaker
one or two rides and then there was nothing else to do. Yeah. So I get it. Yeah. This is great. I, this is great news and, and I don't think anybody really actually saw this coming, right? I, this, I don't even think this yeah speculated, right? This kind of came out of nowhere, but that's, you know, fine. is I like being surprised about these things.
00:50:12
Speaker
I think it's a, I think it was definitely, um, you know, they they probably had it in the plan, but they knew they had to kind of let the, uh, the monsters ink stuff and the closing yeah of, uh, of muppets courtyard kind of simmer down for a minute before they like if they had announced this right after muppets courtyard shut down people would be like oh you're just trying to you know distract us from yeah muppets courtyard like i think they purposely left this for a bit i think they're also just very calculated about when they release things you know they like to like release things that like over time to like
00:50:45
Speaker
you know, keep up like interest and keep up, you know, hype and stuff like that. Just like keep, you know, keep going through these things. That's, I also think that that's part of it too, but it is interesting that they're going to do this so quickly, which I mean, listen, why, why wouldn't they do it quickly? Right. They're just,
00:50:59
Speaker
you know, doing some landscaping and, you know, tearing out the inside of some of these buildings. Right. So, i mean, they, they could probably do this pretty fast. They don't actually even say an opening season when this is happening either. So it's just 20, 20, it'll just pop in at some point in 2026. Yeah. Yeah. You know, we'll get, we'll get it. ah They'll let us know when we get closer. So yeah.
00:51:21
Speaker
Yeah. All right. You got to one other thing on the rundown, here which is by the way to the holiday Christmas stuff. But really i just really quickly, Trevor, I want to mention there is a lot of food stuff out there.
00:51:35
Speaker
we have we have not had time to do food time. So we we're we're not going to do a food time right now. um I was going to joke and like do like a fake out and start playing the food time music, but we're not going to do that um because we just we just haven't had time. So we'll do food time whenever we can, um because there's a bunch of food stuff out there.

Disney Food Events and Holiday Overlays

00:51:54
Speaker
But we we obviously, you know, just haven't had one. So.
00:51:59
Speaker
ah Did they, sorry, have they done the food and wine? No, that's not out yet. Still not out yet. Because I thought we were waiting for the food and wine stuff to do our next food. Yeah, but there's also, like, there's a bunch out there. There's, there's like, ah there's there's a, ah gosh, there's a Disneyland one that's out right now about Plaza de Familia. There's a Halloween foodie guide that's out right now.
00:52:21
Speaker
ah There's a the Fantastic Four one one, which we touched on. so and i mean, that Mott to stick is all you need to know about the Fantastic Four one. There's also a Disneyland 70th anniversary ah you know foodie guy, too.
00:52:36
Speaker
There's a bunch of stuff out there. we just... maybe Maybe, yeah, let's... We'll get one in. we We could do like a mashup one and then we could do a proper food and wine one. of it Because like, yeah, I feel like some of these aren't necessarily big enough to be a whole episode of Food Time. No, all four of them together would be, but not... right yeah Okay, fair.
00:52:57
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, no, no, for sure. So we should... I mean, food and wine is not all that far off from starting. so I'm kind of surprised we don't have full menu yet, but, you know, I'm sure we will soon here. Yeah. Yeah.
00:53:09
Speaker
Maybe they need to... I don't know. but What reasons would they have to to not release it now? Are they i don't know redoing the menu? That that would be crazy if they redid the entire the entire thing. i mean yeah i mean there's still ah We're still a month away, but I feel like they usually release it like at least a couple weeks ahead of time. so i would I would assume that we're going to have it sometime in the next few weeks here.
00:53:30
Speaker
but That's fair. That's just my guess. so Anyway, Disneyland! Disneyland! so Disneyland. I like Disneyland over the holidays. Hooray. I know some you maybe don't like Disneyland. mean, if you don't, you just haven't been there. Who doesn't like Disneyland? don't know.
00:53:48
Speaker
there There was a guy once that told me he didn't like Disneyland and I just was like, okay, whatever. Was he a host of this show? yeah Maybe. Anyway. Uh, the holidays return to Disneyland on November 14th. So, uh, at least, you know, at least that starts November Uh, not like Halloween, which, you know, starts months ahead of time. But again, like I've mentioned, if there was a bigger gap between Halloween, Halloween wasn't there, it would, yeah. Halloween wasn't there, they'd start Christmas in in June, you know, if they could. So, um, let's not forget that.
00:54:20
Speaker
it's funny But yeah, so, so they have a couple of things that they're talking about at Disneyland that are, um, or I mean, a lot of these are returning things. Yeah, those are returning things. The Small World overlay is coming back, which is is very cool. Again, yeah you know you know, Christmas overlays are nice for the most part. The Haunted Mansion one is there.
00:54:45
Speaker
and You hate that one so much. hi I detest it. i do not I understand it has a place, but it does not have a place in my heart. so I have to tell you, bothers me that they they still do the lights on the castle at Disneyland, but not Disney World. Now, given the castle's size is much different. It's yeah far easier for them to do i and Disneyland, given it just bothers me, nonetheless.
00:55:10
Speaker
And they still look amazing, yes Yeah, they look great. ah Just in this picture, you're talking about, you know, looks really awesome. What else do you got, though? the The other stuff that I like is that... So Cars Land or Radiator Springs gets like a full holiday overlay.
00:55:27
Speaker
um Like including... the So Luigi's Joy to the Whirl and Mater's Jingle Jamboree are coming back. um Which, like i said, those are fun. if you If you've been on those rides, they're...
00:55:39
Speaker
that There is comparable ones like like the Alien Swirling Saucers is similar to ah Mater's Jamboree. But just having the Christmas overlays always feels nice, right? Yeah, yeah. um And then there's Festival the Holidays is coming back, which um always has... you you know we talked earlier about food to time. There will be a whole selection of...
00:56:01
Speaker
Of various um various cultural Christmas foods, I guess, is the best to put it. don't what it's picture of, by the way, but it looks delicious. ah Pork belly adobo. Is that what it is? Yeah.
00:56:13
Speaker
I want. Yeah. It looks delicious. Yeah. It looks really good. um Yeah. so And then the the usual parades. And actually, hold on. i'm trying to see if there's anything new here. Because I'm trying to remember.
00:56:27
Speaker
I don't remember the... yeah um What's it called? The Encanto show. Mirabelle's Gift of the Seasons. If that was there last year or not.
00:56:39
Speaker
I don't know. ah don't remember. Yeah, it's it's hard. Like, like, I guess the hard part is I do pay more attention to um the stuff that comes back at Disney World because I have been to Disney World at the holidays more than I have Disneyland. Yeah.
00:56:54
Speaker
yeah So I don't always remember everything that was happening at Disneyland. I do see though here that Viva Navidad, which I have seen Viva Navidad and it's, it's an amazing show. It's, it's just a very cool um like street party or or street party parade kind of thing that happens in, in California adventure.
00:57:14
Speaker
So, and the three caballeros lead it, which again, it's cool just to have something specific like that. Can I go back to Incontent for a second? Yeah, sure. just it It just reminded me that Weird Al also played We Don't Talk About Bruno as part of his polka, so that was kind of cool, too.
00:57:31
Speaker
Yeah, there was a lot of Disney stuff in that show, man. lot Did he know you were there or something? Yeah, clearly. He was playing just for me. Yeah, no, he played deep played We Don't Talk About Bruno, which I thought was very was very interesting. that was not That was out of nowhere.
00:57:45
Speaker
Anyway, continue. continue um Yeah, so... I don't know if there's I mean, yeah, there there is all the usual suspects coming back for. Oh, there is a brand new thing. There's a brand new thing.
00:57:57
Speaker
Trevor thing is the new thing. There is a brand new character dinner experience called Mickey's Christmas Carol Feast at Storytellers Cafe at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. Oh, and Daisy's holiday holiday pajama party at Storytellers Cafe for breakfast and brunch.
00:58:13
Speaker
where daisy duck Daisy and Donald ju a Duck join the character lineup. So there you go. There's a new thing. oh So, okay. I see this now. This is kind of cool because you actually have the characters dressed.
00:58:26
Speaker
Oh, yeah. For those that were in ah the A Christmas Carol with Scrooge McDuff. Yeah. So, like, Goofy's in there as... Goofy's a ghost? jake or Jacob Marley's ghost. say jacob marley's ghost So you're going to have you're go to have Goofy dressed as Jacob Marley. You have Scrooge McDuck in there, obviously. and How are they be a ghost? Are they just going to have him that color? like And just be like, he's a ghost.
00:58:53
Speaker
I don't know. It kind of falls in the same line with how they do the... um ah the grim grinning ghosts for the grade. Yeah, they just do the ghost makeup. color They just do that color. Yeah.
00:59:05
Speaker
Yeah. Okay. Which, it's fair like I said, it's it's and and because this is the yeah the Grand Californian, ah like it's very easy to decorate it in that same kind of vibe as Christmas Carol.
00:59:17
Speaker
Can we also just say that ah like Chip and Dale are like straight up adorable in this other picture for the onesies thing? Yeah, do am on the reindeer onesies. I love Chip and Dale and like they just ah my daughter would lose her mind for this. Like she would go nuts because she loves Chip and Dale and to see Chip and Dale like that. She would go crazy.
00:59:38
Speaker
See, yeah, totally totally fair. I'm still more excited for the Christmas Carol stuff. Oh, yeah, that's that's cool, too. like I just think that's so cool. Yeah, that was like that's a good call back then. That was a good one.
00:59:50
Speaker
so yeah hey Yeah, and I'm trying to think... it um No, Clarabelle wasn't in Christmas Carol, was she? I'm just trying to remember if she had a... God, i dude, haven't seen that in so long. I mean, Clarabelle's in the concept art, though, so...
01:00:04
Speaker
Yeah, but like I said, because Mickey and Minnie are in there as, as you know you know, the Cratchits and Scrooge. But I'm trying to remember if Clarabelle... I... i by way i'm I'm going to regret saying this because my wife is going to be like, let's go. Like today is like, I need to go rewatch a Christmas Carol, but not right now. Not right now. You have to delay it for months.
01:00:30
Speaker
I need to watch it closer to Christmas. When is the acceptable time for for Christmas to start? Does it have to be after chris after a Canadian Thanksgiving or American Thanksgiving, Trevor? So after Halloween is what I think is fair game because Canadian Thanksgiving is too early because we still have Halloween. Like it's, it's still like you still have the rest of the month of October for Canadian Thanksgiving.
01:00:54
Speaker
but After Halloween, though, it's usually kind of the same lines that Disney follows is, you know, usually a week or two later, you can start doing Christmas stuff. Although I do try to push actually putting up the Christmas tree until end of November because I don't want the Christmas tree up for like two months straight.
01:01:12
Speaker
And that's just a a me thing. So yeah that's fair. That's fair. right Okay. Yeah. I didn't, didn't think we were going to talk about Christmas stuff today. So thank you for, uh, thank you for ruining your mood. Sorry. that Thank you for ruining my, my summertime vibe with all this Christmas stuff. But yes, PS Carabelle is in the movie that, yeah, I, I thought she was somewhere. I just couldn't remember which character she was. um But, you know, this actually is kind of leaving it on a high note, though. I'm i'm excited to see what they do for um or how these characters look when they actually ah come to Storytellers Cafe.
01:01:50
Speaker
Yeah. um Because I honestly that this this seems so obvious now is like, oh, why were they not doing this? why were they not doing this years ago? Yeah. Yeah. I agree. I agree. Because this is yeah, this feels like a thing you should do.
01:02:03
Speaker
Yeah. and It's so obvious. But yeah. Yeah, let's leave it there. I think there was a lot of yeah stuff we covered. It was a good news week, man. was. A lot of stuff going on this week. Yeah.
01:02:14
Speaker
All right. So I guess, do you want me to start wrapping this up? Yeah, wrap it up. Okay. right, everyone, this is the part where I wrap this up. So if you haven't been to this part yet, you're, I mean, this is going new, exciting for you, for those you that have heard this before.
01:02:29
Speaker
I'm going to do this anyway, because we have to do this. It's our podcast and this is how I, uh, can we just end it? Like and not, can I just like, you did a replay? You're just going run the, are you just going run the the music and just cut it off? You're running the music. Yeah.
01:02:41
Speaker
Yeah. <unk>m Cool. All right. Bye. Bye. See ya. See ya. No, no, no, we need to

Engagement with Listeners and Podcast Promotion

01:02:49
Speaker
tell people things. Yeah. Seriously. We, we, should we need to plug these things. I think it, you know, it's, it is, it is needed just because we are a podcast and we do need to get ourselves out there. So I'll start with the usual, which is you can always find us at our email address, which is welcome on podcast at gmail.com.
01:03:04
Speaker
We love getting your questions and your own trip reports and, you know, corrections about stuff that we talked about on the show. If we were missing, waiting for specific corrections. That's what I want. Yeah. I mean, that that stuff's all fine.
01:03:16
Speaker
But yeah, you know, we we just love hearing from you guys and talking with you guys because that's that was that's also what makes part of the show fun is, you know, seeing everybody's reaction to it. ah Similarly, you can find us on Facebook as welcome on podcast. YouTube as welcome on podcast and Instagram as welcome on pics.
01:03:34
Speaker
On Facebook, we have our group, which is Welcome Home Disney Waitlist, where, again, we have all kinds of great conversations about stuff from the show. And, um and you know, people are always, you know, sharing their, you know, stuff that they're planning or, or you know you know, sharing their own trip reports and, you know, just helping everybody, you you know, figure out the the best way for them to do Disney.
01:03:57
Speaker
Right. Because yeah and we all there's there's no best way to do Disney is that we all have our own way of doing it. But it's definitely easier when you can, you know, crowdsource it to a bunch of other people. So, you know, check out our group for that.
01:04:09
Speaker
It's a great place to to get in on Disney discussion. We also, for this the to help support the show, we have a store. so you can go to store.welcomehomepodcast.com. You can check out our different merch, which ah you know we have all the t-shirts and mugs and stuff. if you you know if you If you buy a t-shirt and you're in the parks with it, send us a pic. We love seeing that as well. It's always cool to see people wearing our merch. So you know keep that kind of stuff coming.
01:04:33
Speaker
And similarly, we also have a Patreon. So you can go to patreon.com slash welcomehomepod and check out our different levels of Patreon support. That have an exclusive logo that you can only get on Patreon. You can't get it on the main store.
01:04:45
Speaker
And all of our Patreon supporters get access to the Discord server, which is yet another place that we talk about all the ah all the stuff that we talk about here on the show. And, you know, sometimes random Disney subjects and just random things in general and things like, you know, Tom's tom going to a Weird Al concert because...
01:05:04
Speaker
You know, you know, we got to talk about that stuff from time to time. So, um, yeah. So, you know, the, the, the discord server is a great place for that too. If you want to check that out. And, uh, last but not least, if you're listening on iTunes or Spotify or anywhere that you can leave us a five-star review, please do so.
01:05:19
Speaker
Um, it just helps, helps us helps the, helps the podcast get around to more people. And, you know, it's, you know, when it when it's hot in the summer, the the five stars keeps us cool. You know, every time you get the five stars, ah Tom has a fan wired up in his house and the fan turns on for five minutes.
01:05:41
Speaker
So every time you give five stars, you you cool off Tom for a little bit when it's really hot out here. Have you ever seen one of those things at a business that like has like their social media counter and it has like how many followers they have ever seen one of those?
01:05:53
Speaker
I have. like Yeah. Yeah. and So like i I one time was in one of those places and i was like, I'm gonna follow this place right now and see if it updates. And it didn't update. And I was like, this is fake. like That's how I feel. Yeah.
01:06:06
Speaker
ah ah No, but that's why we should have it. ah We should actually have the five star reviews hooked up to a fan. so So if Tom wants to stay cool in the summer, we need five stars. Yeah, just five stars. It starts blowing air on me. I kind of like that idea.
01:06:20
Speaker
ah Anyway, don't forget to subscribe to Welcome Home Podcast so you can be reminded every time we leave. Why can't I speak forever? I broke Tom. I'm sorry. No, you didn't break me. I broke me by being super busy this weekend. Anyway, ah don't forget don't forget to subscribe to Welcome Home Podcast so you can be reminded every time we release a new episode.
