Kanye's Fashion Influence

00:00:14
Speaker
Welcome back to Soul Sandy Sneaker Podcast episode 10. ten This is the final episode of season 1. This is the finale. I'm Spence. E-Doug. Alright, Eli, show us what you got on today.
00:00:27
Speaker
A little stepping the face. Swag man. oh Himself. x one spot um Got this Kanye new version slash like old style rap tee. College dropout. College dropout. Louis Vuitton Don. Don. The OG with some black Levi's.
00:00:50
Speaker
And the orange metallics, which we talked about last video. Yes, sir. So I miss the old Kanye. Yeah. So. All right.

Cola Kicks Event Highlights

00:01:00
Speaker
New T alert.
00:01:01
Speaker
um Yeah. um Thank you. Cola kicks. Got the new T-shirt.
00:01:10
Speaker
Public X 2023 with some double swoosh Nike pants and some older, oldish Air Max ones. um This is also undies. So anybody that follows me has already seen this.
00:01:24
Speaker
Today was actually my 200, 201 like because it made me start a new highlight and you can only put a hundred in each. So you were insane. i'm and I'm on the third highlight. So this is at least 200 undieses.
00:01:40
Speaker
I appreciate everybody who has been here through it all. Through it all. I feel like... I appreciate the other people too. I feel like the that Cola Kicks t-shirt is probably the best tee that we've probably seen at other other conventions as well. And they had a selection of merch. I got some socks as well.
00:01:56
Speaker
um But this was probably the best thing that they had to choose from. But they're an established store. I talked to the guys and they have eight stores right now. yeah So they definitely like you know they they have the capital to do stuff like this.

Vendor Variety at Events

00:02:10
Speaker
And it was it was a successful event. um I'm glad I was able to sneak in. I will say not a lot. There were still a lot of shoe vendors.
00:02:20
Speaker
There was a lot more clothing and like antique almost vendors. Like it was very like. Yeah, when you FaceTime it, it looked like a like but more like a vintage event as well. Like.
00:02:33
Speaker
And like we had talked about before you went down there, maybe because they're established stores. So actually at these events, it might've been more customer based as if like when we go to the other events, like we said, it's like resellers buying from resellers at the shoe tables. So since they're established store and they post it on all eight stores, Instagrams, yeah you know, maybe they're actually having people, customers that are spending money to try to buy Soul Sandy gear, Cola Kicks, wear, yeah whatever. Soul Sandy definitely had a um a great day.
00:03:07
Speaker
I don't know if we felt more comfortable. We were surrounded by, like, nobody within our, like, four or five tables around us was a shoe vendor, i'll close which is completely the opposite. The opposite. yeah Yeah. The person in front of us was closed. The person next to us was closed.
00:03:25
Speaker
The person next to us was closed. And the two diagonal, I think were closed.

Sneaker Flipping Economics

00:03:30
Speaker
Uh, one was vintage, but the rest of them were like brands. yeah And then the one diagonal to the left was like oil, central oil or something like that.
00:03:38
Speaker
But I think that was, um, I don't know if that helped or, but it was different, you know, especially from the other ones. yes The other ones, like, I feel like you get kind of a side eye that you don't have shoes on your table. yeah You know, like, what are you doing here? Well, that and that's like, like we had talked about, it's like selling knives at a gun show. Yeah. In a sense, like when you go to these shoe conventions and you have clothes and stuff like that. Yeah.
00:04:03
Speaker
but I mean, it's good that they Cola Kicks as as a whole is open to have other vendors, like you said, the essential oil, more clothing. and like It's a good mix of everything is kind of when you FaceTime me and then what we've kind of heard as well. so Yeah. um When I FaceTimed you, I was trying to show the Powerpuff Girls. I wish I would have got to that table a little bit earlier because he said he came with all three. Yeah. And he sold Blossom and Bubbles before I got to them. So all he had left was Buttercup with no box. But he sold Blossom and Bubbles with box for $12.50.
00:04:38
Speaker
fifty And Buttercup no box for $10.50.

Frustrations with Sneaker Apps

00:04:43
Speaker
um he was walking around with it at the end like somebody kind of flaked on him and didn't come back but that's crazy and he was like yeah i get a bunch of these and i don't understand how that how that works that's like how me and you were talking about like how that happens like if we were so if we were like the what i was showing you earlier is like if it's sneaker con la or like sneaker con new york like these bigger stores where you can have access to these people maybe but it's like when you're in columbia south carolina you're in
00:05:14
Speaker
Charlotte or something like that and you're getting this it's like dude how do you know the people on a smaller demographic a smaller clientele yeah but can are able to move that. It's just like, well, it's crazy to me aside from him moving it at whatever price. Cause he can post them online.
00:05:29
Speaker
How is he, he says he gets a bunch of them. Like, how are you just managing? Like, first of all, what are you paying that person? Right. And where does that person work? Is he stealing them? Is he paying for them? Like, you know, obviously when you get a shoe with no box, you know, you got to come with that realization that it might be stolen.
00:05:45
Speaker
Um, so I mean, I, and my i mean I, I gave you the, the concept of the infamous Yeezy man that goes around yeah um to all the stores with unreleased Yeezys and how he gets them. We won't tell tell it on camera, but I told you how he is able to acquire everything. And it's just like,
00:06:10
Speaker
Crazy. Yeah. It just doesn't make that way. But it's crazy that you can do it with something like this. Something that has been is being hyped up and still doesn't release for another two or three months. And how does it get by?
00:06:21
Speaker
Yeah. How? Like that makes no it makes no sense to me. I really wish I would have got to pick a video of all three of them. I should have. I didn't go around before we really set up and the customers started coming in. Which is a good problem to have as well. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, like I said, very successful day for Soul Sanity. If you want some Soul Sanity gear, you better get it now because it was almost gone. You better text the podcast page, the regular page, his Instagram, my Instagram.
00:06:54
Speaker
Just however you need to get it or acquire it, it's low. Yeah, stock is low.

Nike's AI Innovations

00:07:00
Speaker
Yeah, ah so today... October 5th. He's mad. I missed the shock drop.
00:07:08
Speaker
It's not even a shock drop because they'll let you know ten fifteen minutes before. But I missed the shock drop on the CB94 Triple Black. um and i don't even I don't know if this is actually a shock drop because they took like they pushed it. It's been on sneakers for like a week. yeah you know My homie sent it to me and everything. and I was like, oh I don't need to like rush to get these or whatever. They made 600 pairs and released them on sneakers today.
00:07:34
Speaker
It's crazy. like What other shoe that has been released this year has been limited to 600 pairs? Yeah, why is it a cb nine You tell me. And what's weird, and this might have something to do with it, I went on GOAT, obviously, because I wanted to check the aftermarket and see if I can get them now.
00:07:50
Speaker
They only have the 2020 version up there, and it's and it says just dropped. So I don't know if this is a GOAT mistake yeah or if they actually just re-released the 2020 version.
00:08:02
Speaker
Like they just had pairs like sitting and that's why they only released 600. So yes i'll I'll be curious to see if that 2024 version of it pops up on goat soon. Cause you know, i need, I got that goat credit to burn.
00:08:15
Speaker
i am but Yeah. I'm absolutely sick. I got on the shock drop at 10. Oh, three sold out. And then I had seen a Twitter thing. I like 600 pairs. What the fuck? What?
00:08:29
Speaker
You know, and I, I went to it and gone. It doesn't make no sense. Like, Especially like that. I mean like. But it kind of reminds me of like. Whenever like they do Bo Jackson's. And like stuff like that. It's like.
00:08:43
Speaker
The way they do It's just like. Foot Locker gets restocked on this website on this day. Just random. and then Chance might get on this day. And Hibben might get on this day. And it's like. There's an official release date from Nike. But it's like. it It just pops up at these stores. And it's on show. So then if you walk in and you see it.
00:09:00
Speaker
Then it's like, oh, let me call Hibbit and say, you got all black CB940. He's like, no. It's like, oh, well, I seen them at So-and-so. I seen where they dropped on the website. And it's like, you know, it's just it's just weird how, like, whenever I was working at Hibbit, especially, like, when stuff like that would happen, like Bo Jackson's and just would just randomly start popping up, like, and the hype builds up after market. And then it's like, once they're gone, it just,
00:09:29
Speaker
dies down again. on I'm not even mad that they released 600 pairs, but it just sucks that the 600 pairs ended up going to people that aren't going wear them. because I've already seen them up for sale. you know How did they only release 600 and there's still some for sale? you know you like Just stay out of it if you don't want them. yeah like It's frustrating, especially on a shoe like that. you know If it's a Travis and you're going to make 800 bucks, okay, i whatever. I understand why you're doing it, but this is a Barkley. You're about to take ah a chance on whether this going flip or not. There's no way you knew that, they oh yeah, this is a flip.
00:10:06
Speaker
So you make $60 off of it. Yeah. I mean, the lowest price I saw earlier was $325. Where they retail? So you make at their fees and at fees or whatever.
00:10:20
Speaker
it's just like but they and know like you said like why why why a cb like Now yeah the satin breads dropped the other day. I can see people trying to, you know, like flip those i know mean because I mean, that's been a, that's been a hot commodity for a long time. The satin breads has always been something that people have sought after, but a CB, come on, bro. Like, yeah.
00:10:43
Speaker
Um, but that, I mean, the, the seat, uh, satin bread was actually a shock drop, but it doesn't seem like Nike is really hiding anything anymore. You get a, get a notification 20 minutes before, hey, this is dropping in. There's so many Instagram pages where it's like, look out for a shock drop next week. Next week at 10 a.m. or 10 to 2 or whatever. I got an actual sneakers notification 15 minutes before saying dropping in 15 minutes. Satin bread women's. What's the point anymore? I didn't even enter. I don't know if it was a draw or whatever. I didn't. told you what I was doing at the time.
00:11:19
Speaker
i did I didn't even get out my phone or nothing. And I seen Bossman pull out his phone. Boom, two pairs. Boom, boom. Check out. And I was like, now they weren't the women's size, but I mean, he got a baby in ah in a preschool size. But still, it's just like, ah using that it if why am I even getting on here and trying?
00:11:39
Speaker
if i just And it's gotten to the point where I'm sure me especially, going to get on there for something that I want that other retailers aren't getting. If it's just Nike, I'll get on there and try my luck.

NFTs and Sneaker Authentication

00:11:50
Speaker
Unless it's time already know what's going to happen. yeah I mean, i've I have never won on sneakers app. Never. Like, the whole time it's been going on, the whole sneakers app thing. I have never worn. have zero dubs. dubs.
00:12:04
Speaker
I have a few, but they're not. I mean, the only one that's crazy is the Travis Highs. Right. And that was that one was pure persistence because that was like the worst sneakers release that I've ever been a part of. Yeah. It was freezing. it was like it was so because this is before it really got big. Yeah. And so there was a lot of people on it at that point and they weren't prepared for that. Yeah. And that, that yeah. Like, I didn't hit for, like, 30 or 45 minutes of continuing to try and check out. Like, most people had stopped, and that's why I started to work again. So, that one was pure persistence. But other than that, I don't have any noticeable, like, memorable dubs. And it's just like, I know there's a bunch of people like me, but it's like, how many try how many times do I have to try just to get one? I've been trying for four years, five years, and I ain't got one. Yeah.
00:12:52
Speaker
Like, come on. like and i And I don't really get bummed out about it because obviously there's other ways to get the shoes on release date. So it's like, it is what it is, but it's like, damn. Like, I can't even, like, I don't even have a chance, really. I do commend Sneakers for starting to do the whole thing where, like, they were they gave a second chance to the Lost and Founds for people who had taken, like, 10 to 15 Ls on Jordan 1s that year. So that's cool, but how well does it actually work? I don't know. That and, like, when they when they restocked um the SB4s, like, they were like, you're only getting... that SB4s if you've bought an SB product. Yeah, like that's cool too. A hoodie and everything like that. And they don't they didn't say that to people before. So it's like people who've actually bought SB hoodies or ah an SB shoe. like
00:13:44
Speaker
I mean, it's probably a skateboarder that might have bought a pair of Janowski's or whatever on the website. And now he gets a chance to win an SB4 because he actually buys something he's like, I'm cool with that. yeah That's fine. They did this, I think, if you had entered 20 Kobe things or They did it with Kobe's too. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right. So, I mean, i'm ah yeah I'm fine with that style because it just rewards the people who actually like shop and support the brand in the capacity that it needs to be.

Fat Joe's Sneaker Culture Impact

00:14:11
Speaker
So, I have i have no issues with And what that person likes. Yeah. They're they're actually buying what they like. So, that's cool. um Speaking of red shoes from the satin breads, we got the, you know.
00:14:23
Speaker
Terror Squad, Air Force Ones, the red and whites. So I'm going to go ahead and say this because I didn't know until Eli told me. He sent me a picture of the the red ones and I was like, I thought they were patent leather. And I guess I was just dreaming or misunderstood, misinformed, whatever. But I am disappointed in myself because I like form i i like fabricated it in my mind and now I'm disappointed in the shoe. But it's my fault. Now, what I was going to, I just thought of is that the black and white pair i told you it's just super buttery leather so it just it looks shiny because of how good the actual leather is um but that white and blue pair now on the back part that might be patent leather but i don't even want to like be saying that because i'm not even for sure 100 it just might be the quality of it i think it was the black and white pair that i was i thought was patent leather yeah because they're just shiny like you know and I would have enjoyed the main patent leather. yeah But it is what it is. i probably won't get them anyway. but the
00:15:26
Speaker
I mean, i'm listen, I'm not the biggest Fat Joe music person at all. Literally at all. And I'll say that. But the influence that he's had on the shoe game, the culture, and light knowing that he's like one of them ones that loves the history of shoes, has been doing it for a long time, and the stories of him going to like mom and pop stores and Going to the basement of them and, like, finding old stuff.
00:15:53
Speaker
Obviously, the licking of the bottom of the shoe thing. Like, for that, I just feel like it's only right for me as a sneakerhead to be like, these are dope. I like the story behind them.
00:16:05
Speaker
It's an Air Force One. So, it's a classic shoe. And every colorway that he's came out with, I like. like And I just feel like that would be a cool pack to have if he keeps releasing the colorways. Resale or not, I don't care. I personally like the shoe. Yeah, this red one's going to friends and family, ah think.
00:16:24
Speaker
as well I mean, from the caption, I think it's not going to be accessible, at least as of yet. The red and white ones, boy, but I'm telling you, when I seen him them on and then it zoomed in and I sent it to you, I mean, red's my favorite color, so I'm already biased, but I'm sure.
00:16:40
Speaker
The black one is still my favorite and then the teal one, but the red one is clean. um But like, i don't know, I still got this image of this black and white patent leather like things sitting in my mind. And I feel like the the black and white ones are probably you're going to see more of, but I'm going to let it die down a little bit, obviously.
00:16:57
Speaker
Everybody refers to a black and white shoe as pandas. Yeah, Detroit Terror Squad. Yeah, so I'm just going to let that die out. I'm going to have my Air Force Ones on on ice for a minute. yeah so But, I mean, if he if he comes out with the the red and white pair, need those two.
00:17:13
Speaker
i'm i'm I'm excited. Whether they come out or not, I truly enjoy that shoe. Yeah, I mean, um even if it's a friend's of family, it's a good-looking shoe, and it's a him shoe. like did yeah you know When you see it, you're like, yeah. i mean And they've been out before. you know They were just getting made for him. yeah But this is a Fat Joe shoe. So I'm happy for You want to about your AI shoes?

AI Enhancing In-Store Experience

00:17:33
Speaker
Yeah. um So I guess how to kind of I had showed you the video. try to make it as short as I can, but basically from the video that we watched, Nike is doing this type of AI program shoe, adapt BB type of shoe whatever that you're going to be able to buy.
00:17:59
Speaker
It's going to be at an unknown price point yeah that we don't know yet or how you're going to get the shoe as well. Yeah. These are going to be limited. So, um, This is all just rumors in the video that I showed you that somebody that knows somebody that knows somebody basically.
00:18:14
Speaker
um that But they had a pop-up at Sneaker Crown LA. So obviously something's in the works, but they just don't know the full details yet. Basically, you're going be able to get a shoe from Nike, like a Dabby B that has a chip in it and everything like that.
00:18:29
Speaker
It's going to be serial numbered with... your address, your card information, basically everything like the sneakers app that you have. I think one of the dudes said, if if it's not your DNA, the shoes aren't going to work. Exactly. Yeah, exactly. So you can't buy the shoe and then try to sell it because Nike has a paper trail of who has what, like what shoes you've hit on everything like that, like, and everything like that. So basically you'll be able to get the shoes. You'll be able to wear them to a Nike store.
00:18:58
Speaker
um And when you walk through the Nike store, the shoe will be able to vibrate your foot on where to go through the Nike store. Now, you'll be able to get, he said, free gifts, maybe like some coupons or promotions to use at the store that day.
00:19:14
Speaker
But the big thing is with these big releases, for example, ah Travis Scott Jordan 1, you'll be able to go to the store. It vibrates you to go to a certain place to the store.
00:19:26
Speaker
And you'll have access to the store or to the shoe. Get it and everything like that. It'll ship to your house. Basically, Nike's message behind this is that it's going to stop botting and actual fair sneaker releases.
00:19:44
Speaker
I think it's fair. um Nike needs to open a Nike store in every city. Right. um But yeah, I think it's fair. um if we just shut down half the foot lockers and gave us, you know, like there's, there's a lot of foot lockers that are like within 20 miles of each other.
00:20:01
Speaker
Um, and Nike is like, was one of their biggest suppliers or, I mean, any of the third party shops, you know what saying? We don't need all of them within 20 miles of each other, you know? Right. Um, so yeah, more Nike stores, less other retail for stores.
00:20:17
Speaker
And that, that would definitely be cool. Um, it would be fair. if the Nike stores are easily accessible. Yeah. Or, I mean, even if they let you do it at the outlet, everybody has an outlet that's kind of near them for the most part. Yeah. so And i was going to say, like, yeah, if they let it, if you do it at the outlets and ah the employee stores and, you know, whatever the case may be, like, that's cool.
00:20:42
Speaker
But kind of basically what we're, what it comes down to is, like, how is the everyday person, like, me and Spence going to be able to get this shoe in the first place.
00:20:53
Speaker
How much is it going to cost? What are the chances of us getting it? And then once we get it, being able to take time out of an off day or whatever the case may be and just drive to the Nike store, walk around.
00:21:07
Speaker
You might not get none that day, but you might. So it's just like, ah I don't know how they're going to do it. And like, if they're announce like certain days you can go. And because at that point, I mean, you know how it is. Like if you just got people walking around the store and not buying anything or not just on their phone, just causing traffic for no reason. Like that's just.
00:21:28
Speaker
I think it'll stay more of a secret. um i think they're going to try and treat it like some of these smaller skate shops and other stores do. Like you come in and you truly get rewarded for that. yeah You know, just, just coming in and spending time in the store.
00:21:42
Speaker
um but the rollout is definitely going to be the thing to keep your eye out on. The example we saw, the pairs were limited to 167 pairs. Yeah.
00:21:53
Speaker
um That was, which sounds crazy. I mean, that's a Murakami. Yeah. That was ah all the Murakami collabs and they were all Air Force Ones. yeah But like the guy said, like the, even the pairs on display on, like these were actually the people's shoes that they had to ask to borrow because,
00:22:09
Speaker
this wasn't just from the factory. Like people had already bought these and they own these pairs that were on display. So, so it's crazy. I mean, it's a cool concept. Don't get me wrong. If you're near a Nike store. Yeah. so i was go to say for ah For me right now, even if I was to get a pair of these shoes, it wouldn't cost, it would, it wouldn't, it wouldn't make sense. It wouldn't be cost effective. Like I would have these shoes and I would be able to go use them if I hopped on a plane. Yeah. And what I was going to say, yeah, well, i was going to say like,
00:22:39
Speaker
I mean, even when you travel, like you say, say you go to to New York where they have three Nike stores in the whole city of New York. You're going to wear your Nike shoes all through the city to go through all three stores. and yeah that Yeah. Yeah. I was about to say, you have to have these, uh, these on at all times. Yeah. Like you can't like, there's,
00:22:58
Speaker
like You have to have them on like to be that can't be in the book bag when you walk in the store. like they They have to be on your feet. so That's a crazy concept. I guess you just got to keep in the car. and if you're going to go in the Nike store, you better wear them.
00:23:15
Speaker
We are going to the Artifact Nike installment, which honestly, Scott, I don't think they've ever done one before, right? Have you ever heard of one? They haven't done one, and in all reality, if you're not really into the cryptos and the NFTs and things of that matter, you might not even actually know what

Artifact and Nike Collaboration

00:23:29
Speaker
it is. I want to explain this one. one thing, which is like kind of what I've been told. i don't know how much truth it is to it, but from what I've been told is Scott and I got the CryptoKicks IRL because of Johnny, Johnny Kicks, NFT. Yeah. And basically what it is, it's like, it's it's the first IRL sneaker that they've given out. Technically they did these like 10 air forces too, but it's the first one that has like he It's interactive, it has an app, its it has haptic feedback, so it's almost like the Air Mag and the other ones where you put your foot in, it tightens down. But it's got like little sensors in it that, from what I've seen, even North Park, Nike at ourrs our mall. Moving forward, you'll be able to use them to interact within the Nike stores for gifts and first...
00:24:09
Speaker
first drops and things of that matter. So like the top floor from what we've been told is didn't turned into like the crypto there, the NFT part of every Nike store. And from what they're telling us is that hype releases of the future, you know how many people would hate sneakers, right? And like how they don't hit on a hype releases and botting. So, from what we've been told, I think Johnny's actually the one told us, you're gonna to be able to wear these shoes and then go into a Nike store whenever there's like a, alright, the next Travis Jordan 1's coming out.
00:24:36
Speaker
You go into the Nike store, you're wearing these Crypto Kicks IRL, it's gonna buzz you left and right. Vibrations what want. So to tell you which way to walk into the Nike store then when you get to the certain spot, it'll pop up on your phone and say basically you've unlocked access to be able to purchase the shoe, you purchase it on the app, it ships to your house. All these Crypto Kicks IRLs, they're all serialized, it's all done on the blockchain. So Nike knows who has every pair, they have your address, you can't, there's no, there's a paper trail, there's no way to really bought it. So they're basically saying it's gonna be the future of
00:25:07
Speaker
fair releases through Nike. So it could be a huge deal and not a lot of people know about it. So I think this is a really good time for us to talk about it. We've bought some other ones. So if you can see right here, these Murakamis, this is the first time Murakami's ever done an official shoe with Nike, right?
00:25:22
Speaker
Yes. And I believe this one is one of 167. Yeah. Oh yeah. Right Yeah. They're all, so it'll tell you how many supply ended up getting made on every pedestal. And if I'm not mistaken, when we were on the open sea, these were going for about 10,000. Yeah.
00:25:35
Speaker
This one's a sample pair. So there's two Murakami pairs. There was the really rare one and the one that was- And then the mass produced one, which is the ones we have. Which is still rare now. Let's see if we can find someone that can actually give us some more information though, maybe break down a little bit for us.
00:25:47
Speaker
This is Taiwan Sweck from Artifact. I'm actually the head of community. We're displaying all 10 pairs of the Air Force One we did with Murakami and and you know Nike, of course. And this is actually the first time we showcase the physical pairs in person in US at SinkerCon Los Angeles.
00:26:03
Speaker
ah Last time we did it with Takashi at his Keisha event in Tokyo. These shoes will ship out actually next month. When we first started Artifact, right, we launched a 20,000 Avatar collection called Clonex, like these.
00:26:15
Speaker
And each shoes belong to certain DNAs. And you have to own that DNA to have the assets for, you know, different ones. To able to get it, right? Yeah. To be able to get it. Like there's humans, there's demons, then the total supply for, you know, most of them are around like a thousand, not over two thousand. What's the rarest one of all Actually, the alien pairs over there. There was only 60 pairs in the world. Wow. Yes.
00:26:37
Speaker
So all these shoes have a chip we call, you know, like NFC inside. yeah So you purchase the, at first you purchase the digital version, you forge into the physical one, right right? So once you receive the physical, actually use your phone to tap on the chip. On the actual shoe? Yeah, so you you link it back to the NF, to NFT. So now the real life is linked with metal. Exactly, exactly. And that's another way how we authenticate these sneakers as well. Please follow us on Instagram, it's rtfkt, and also Twitter as well. All right, I've been looking for...

Retail Strategy Shifts

00:27:08
Speaker
um So Atmos is shutting down some well, all of its U.S. stores. i think it's only three stores in total. Yeah. it It was either three or four. I can't remember. It's so, it's just weird because Atmos was like recently acquired by Foot Locker. So it's like, you know, was this like the people in Atmos that are still like core members? It was just that kind of decision. was like, why would Foot Locker...
00:27:34
Speaker
you know acquire acquire them just to focus solely on Asia unless they're just trying to get back to whatever. But I think it's a great idea and I think it's a great concept.
00:27:46
Speaker
It's just not going benefit me. That sucks. I mean, that's me being selfish or whatever. um But Atmos was is definitely a cool like collaborator and I'll probably still get some shoes, but I'll have to directly outsource them from Asia. Yeah.
00:27:59
Speaker
well i was and I was going to say the same thing. like Usually, most of collabs that Atmos does with Nike in particular like usually do pretty fair and their designs are good.
00:28:12
Speaker
um They have great concepts. The box that we always talk about, like like we said last episode, like we're big concept people. We're big like stories behind it, boxes, everything like that. so Atmos has always been like a good, i say, like, originator for collabs to, like, kind of set it at a high level and how things are supposed to be done, I guess you could say.
00:28:38
Speaker
um but What you getting out the dungeon here? this is This is the Atmos Air Max 1. It's like a We Love we love Nike Air Max 1 or something like that, but obviously it's just got the Nike boxes on it. yeah
00:28:58
Speaker
See, like, this is like a It's a cool concept, like, with the the shoeboxes on it like, the different type of Nike boxes that they've had over the time. Like, it's a cool little concept that they make. It's just, like... This is, unfortunately, the closest I have to having the, like, Royal Air Max ones, but... Yeah, they're definitely cool. They're a 10.5, so they're too big, but... But, um, the... Uh...
00:29:28
Speaker
Like the Air Max 1, like the the elephant point the elephant print one with the ah the tail check, like that's a crazy amount. When they did that with like the the threes. Crazy. that's those two pair That pack in general is just a great pack. It's going run you back.
00:29:46
Speaker
Yes. It's going to raise some money too. But even if you got them individually too, like they're going to run you a check either way. But that's ah that's great. Oh, that great definitely Grails. Yeah. 100% Grails. Great pack.
00:29:59
Speaker
But yeah, it's going to be um unfortunate for the U.S. seeing Atmos exit the market. However, um i am happy for our Asian counterparts because it's just going to be like cool for them, for them, like a brand to specifically focus on like a demographic. That's cool. like you know Especially to give back. And to reap the benefits of it as well. Yeah. um But what was confusing to me as well was like,
00:30:27
Speaker
Foot Locker was closing all these stores, and then you said they acquired Atmos. So if we're closing stores, technically, it from mo outside looking at you'd say, okay, they're losing money, so they need to close stores. But then you acquire Atmos, now so Atmos goes to Asia. you know it's i said recently, but it was three years ago. okay But at the same time, Goat was also not like all the way acquired by Foot Locker. But while I was working at Foot Locker, which is around this time, they put a hundred million dollars into Goat. They didn't buy it, but they like, you know, it's backed by Goat.
00:31:03
Speaker
Wow. They're back. They are backing Goat. um So it's like, okay, so you can do all this. But then now we're starting to see like, oh, okay. Foot action is going away. Yeah. Closing some of these stores. And they've definitely gone in a different direction, especially once they got the the Puma contract and they kind of were losing a little bit there. Yeah. the Nike stuff. Yeah. so And then that and I think i don't know if we ever talked about this or we wanted to talk about this but Foot Locker has also said that they were going to move out of the malls like slowly but surely yeah and they were going to go to more like shopping centers and like stand and standalone locations which is like okay that's cool and like usually you do see Foot Lockers in malls and stuff like that. It's like what they're known for oh but it just makes you think of the company that
00:31:51
Speaker
you work for that I used to work for being at standalone locations and like you know they've been doing this for a long time so obviously they've had to see some type of benefit from that to move out of a mall and maybe malls are just getting to the point that they're dead and nobody goes to them and everybody likes online stores or just going to if I'm going to hit but I'm going to hit it and that's it yeah like I don't want to go to Foot Locker and walk through the mall and talk to people and I definitely don't go to Everything. like I mean, I went to the mall today and it was dead. I mean, I know it's a Thursday, but I mean, at there's, there was nothing going on there.
00:32:28
Speaker
If I go to a mall, I go for, I go park on the side of the store that I need to go to. Right. I go in and I leave. Yeah. you know i don't That's how, yeah.
00:32:39
Speaker
And you get to the point where you're like that, where you, okay, the store, I need to go into here. We go in, walk half a mile, right? Go in, get where I need to go, and get out. Yeah. Well, I mean, growing up in Greensboro, like, every day after school, we would go to Four Seasons. So I've walked a million miles in that mile that mall. I don't need to, like, do anything else yeah there, you know.
00:33:02
Speaker
At one point, I could have, like, blindly led you to the whole mall, but I don't even know it anymore. So I'm glad I'd stay out of there. For sure. um So before I forget, I'm going to show the shoes up here.

Personal Shoe Collection Stories

00:33:15
Speaker
So um this is the newest hirachi flight Hirachi. um it It just came out. for Well, it just got released to Hibbit, so I was able to get it. But the release date on it was August 10th, but we didn't receive them until last week.
00:33:33
Speaker
So you was able to... um I was able to get these on the Dizzy. He needed that. So this is the flight Hirachi. This is the Hirachi basketball. So the difference is going to be in the sole.
00:33:45
Speaker
This is an older pair. This is a 2012 pair. I have not worn these. I want this colorway in that shoe just to complete my kind of like Hirachi pack. I got these because I wanted the flight. rex was available at the time These aren't bad, though. I could definitely like use it once I get the flight, I'll probably use these as basketball shoes like out actually outdoors. And I think my brother had a pair of these growing up, so it's always cool to see stuff like that. And then I brought out these Air Force Ones. Obviously, I got these new displays at a Cola Kicks, so thought I'd use them. So I brought out these Air Force Ones to match, obviously, both of these. This is called the Laser Blue, and I don't know what these are called, but these are my... ah Dreamville concert shoes. Shout out my dog Rich for both of these.
00:34:28
Speaker
These are kind of beat right now, but haven't worn those yet either. so Both of the kind of Hornets colorways are sitting for now. but ah These are a birthday present as well, so I appreciate that. oh and you know It was a great deal, and they look they they They look really good. They were clean. like when i When I seen the post, I was like, I i mean, I literally, I seen it and I may have called you, but knew you knew the deal. I'm very excited about those. So I, you know, this is, that's like how I feel about the CB 94, the purple one.
00:35:00
Speaker
So I feel about those. So like, you know, definitely like more than excited to have these. That's like, finally. So I just need to get the white and blue ones. Suspense and issue for sure. Oh, when I seen, I said this.
00:35:11
Speaker
I had to call my dog. I saw somebody with the white and blue ones at Cola Kicks, but didn't even ask him what he was charging. This size looked too big, and I was like, yeah, you're not going. I don't want to hurt his feelings, yeah and I don't want him to hurt mine. right You stay away. All right,
