Introduction and Show & Tell

00:00:31
Speaker
Keeper. Where we talk about it all. From superheroes to wrestlers. We stand tall. and Kevin. The dynamic duo inside.
00:00:42
Speaker
Keeper.
00:01:26
Speaker
Hey, what what's happening? Nothing much, man. How are we doing? Doing good. As you can see, Kevin's traveling. He's got his Hawaiian shirt on. He's in Florida. Yep.
00:01:36
Speaker
I'm out of room for the first time in three months. Yep. And you've been on the road since, what, at least a week and a half ago when you left. Last Thursday, yeah. yeah You've had quite the travels. We'll talk about that in a minute. But first, we missed the first of the month, so we're going jump into a show and tell.
00:01:57
Speaker
That's in the wrong spot.
00:02:02
Speaker
So many geeky things that we could pull off from the show.

Collectibles and Comic Stores

00:02:09
Speaker
We've been collecting shit for years now we're ripping it out. So it's time to showcase all the money that we wasted well.
00:02:20
Speaker
C'est la vie, say the old folks, this geek club show went down.
00:02:28
Speaker
I'll do mine first because it's something small. Started a new collection of old. Remember these, Kevin? Okay. Yep. Completely intact, but the tie's still there.
00:02:40
Speaker
um Nice. Eventually, I've always wanted to get the Firehouse. I mean, everybody who was a geek in the used to have it. Yeah, I did too. I want to get it again, but this is the first figure of hopefully many once I get some more money. I want to get all four of these nice figures, but nice I got Egon from the Real Ghostbusters.
00:03:00
Speaker
Complete and everything. Kind of cool. And Kevin found something on his travels down to Florida. He's ready to unbox it. so we went to an area called comic row and savannah georgia the other day it's one block and there's five comic and toy shops on that block like they had all those figures in the case i'll send you pictures um later but as you know i've been reading berserk yes and i went in the store and i saw these statues wow and i said to myself self i don't need that
00:03:37
Speaker
And then i walked out of the store. And about two feet out of the store, I walked back and said, self, I think I need that. Their store was awesome. It had a bunch of old working arcade machines that had um old SNESs, like an NES, like the action set, like still in the box. Those are were super expensive. yeah is But I guess i might as well try to take this out of the box.
00:04:03
Speaker
there we go
00:04:10
Speaker
of work yeah I'll do one of these.
00:04:16
Speaker
yeah Upside down. Box boom.
00:04:22
Speaker
Okay, well, it's pretty tight in there. Let's see.
00:04:28
Speaker
There we go.
00:04:31
Speaker
I should have thought this through. Oh, there we go. Nothing says bring a knife to a podcast. Yes, sir. Oh, wow.
00:04:43
Speaker
And there is there's some collectible stuff in it, but that is Guts, the main man. Nice. This is a pretty dope statue. Glad I got it. The book is fantastic. Big recommend if you're looking for something to read and want to try manga.
00:04:58
Speaker
It's pretty awesome. Nice. I can't lie. Nice. That's cool. And it came with some accessories and stuff I'll check out later, but yeah. oh Never really heard of it. Here here it is. Yeah. um I think I'm the only one that's ever talked to you about it. And I only heard about it because of people in the discord, but this is his sword right there. It's going to go right into his hand. Nice. Awesome.
00:05:23
Speaker
My first ever unboxing on the podcast. Yeah, that's ah that's a cool unboxing. Yeah, don't figure. Yeah, really cool figure. Yep. Big recommend it. The story is really good. It's super easy to read. The the only problem is it's been written since 1987, I want to say. So there is 40 omnibuses.
00:05:46
Speaker
But they're quick reads. Like I read one today just because. Nice. You can sit down and read it in like three s sittings. Yeah. Okay. Cool. I'll look into it.

Fast Food Adventures

00:05:55
Speaker
ah And Kevin's on his travels. He stopped in Philadelphia, stopped in Savannah, like you said. Now he's in Florida.
00:06:02
Speaker
um And you've you had some fast food. You've been to different food places yeah during this week and a half. So let's talk about it with the Fat Fox.
00:06:24
Speaker
So you left so certainly probably, what, 10 days ago? Something like that. Yep, 10 days. First stop was back in Philly. You were just there a month ago. Yes. How did this stop go this time?
00:06:37
Speaker
Yes, very good. um We did Raising Cane's because I had never had that. think there is one now near us in Saugus. Not really near us, but down towards Boston. Very good. The chicken was pretty good. The only problem is the chicken doesn't have much flavor, so they rely on their sauce, which is also pretty good. um But that's always an issue if you have to rely on the sauce. yeah But it was good.
00:06:59
Speaker
It wasn't overly expensive. i think I got like three tenders and fries for like $10.99.
00:07:05
Speaker
My friend asked for extra sauce. They gave him a cup and they literally filled up like a 16 ounce Pepsi cup of yeah sauce. I knew that they did. I knew that they did that. But then when you show me the pictures, I thought it was just a viral thing. They really do that.
00:07:18
Speaker
Yep. They really do that. um And then on the way down to see my friend South Carolina, I stopped at a Bojangles. Okay. Yep. Have you ever had a Bojangles? No, we mentioned it probably a few weeks ago. We were talking about chicken places and one of the places I wanted to try.
00:07:35
Speaker
Bojangles has my favorite fast food fries I've ever had. They have like a little Cajun seasoning on them. Their sauce, the i think it's just called like Bo sauce, is really good. iss really different. it's more like a, more like a Romalard. Like it's a chunky dipping sauce. It's very good. And like, it it feels like it would taste good on fish also.
00:07:55
Speaker
um Okay. Which is probably the point. It's like a like a Cajun sauce, it's a little bit thicker, almost thick like a tartar sauce. And it was it was really good. um And then when I went to Savannah, we went to this place, i can't remember the name of the place, but I had a burger on a pretzel bun. It wasn't just like a hamburger bun.
00:08:16
Speaker
that's made like out of a pretzel. It was a legitimate like pretzel. And it had gouda cheese, caramelized onions, and bacon on it. And that was wow fantastic. And then we went to this little little spot for barbecue also.
00:08:31
Speaker
And they didn't have their liquor license. They had like this bin of just drinks. Like they had Coke. They had like Corona in it. And the guy was like, I can't sell liquor. But he's like, you can help yourself with the beer. So I paid like $10.99 for couple ribs and the beer was free.
00:08:45
Speaker
So if I lived in that area, I would go there constantly. So, yeah, that's where had so far. A couple other places, but just your basic places. I just stopped at because I was hungry or whatever. yeah But those are the new experiences so far.
00:08:59
Speaker
Nice. How long are you out there? How long are you down there for? Like another week or so? we can um I go to work the 29th of April, so anytime soon. You could be back in the next month and a half sometime. um It's open-ended, yeah. Yep. Did you

World Baseball Classic Discussion

00:09:15
Speaker
want to jump into a T-Tree Sports? I know you mentioned it yesterday off pod. Did you want to jump into that real quick?
00:09:21
Speaker
Yeah. Okay, we'll do that. Teach Ray Sports.
00:09:26
Speaker
This is the theme to teach Ray sports. We need a theme for teach Ray sports. I couldn't think of anything that would be original. I stole this instrumental from the Gary Shanley show.
00:09:37
Speaker
This is the theme to teach Ray sports.
00:09:44
Speaker
This is the theme to teach Ray sports.
00:09:50
Speaker
All right. So tonight, besides the Oscars, have to do double watching because the Oscars are on tonight too. We have the World Baseball Classic semifinals between the U.S. and the Dominican Republic. um The World Baseball Classic started in like 2006.
00:10:08
Speaker
At first it was supposed to go like every three years and they randomly after 2009 decided to go every four years. So they went four years after that into 13 and then they were like, let's go back to every three years. So it's been played five times since in the last 20 or so years.
00:10:21
Speaker
Um, the only teams that ever win us s Dominican Republic and Japan. Well, this year Japan is fucking out, which sucks because everyone thought they were going the U S in the finals.
00:10:33
Speaker
Um, The only thing that sucks about the World Baseball Classic is the way baseball is structured and MLB is too greedy to take less games, take games off the schedule and do it in like July for like two weeks.
00:10:45
Speaker
So they do it in spring training. So like nobody's at their peak at all. Like this is the time where you're supposed to be like wrapping up for the season. You're not in like mid season form. So like tonight we have Paul schemes going for the USA and he's one of the best pitchers in baseball. but with the fact that it's technically still spring training, like you have no idea, like he might get absolutely blown up in three innings or he could do fantastic for three or four innings.
00:11:11
Speaker
You have no idea of knowing that. Um, But the passion I have seen from a lot of the the foreign teams, um specifically Italy, who is still in it, and they have a cappuccino machine in their dugout playing up to the stereotype. It's pretty awesome. So every time somebody gets a hit, um the team goes and gets some espresso. um They're going to be a fun story to watch because...
00:11:35
Speaker
the manager of baseball didn't seem to understand how a rob round Robin worked. Like he thought, cause they were three and one that they were automatically onto to the next round, but it actually depended on on, like Mexico. I think Italy was playing and like, there was all sorts of like different things. Like so the ball basically had to go the right way. Like Italy had to win by like six or whatever.
00:11:57
Speaker
And they did. Thankfully it's the U S advanced because he literally rested all of the starters and just played random guys. And we lost to Italy that one game. So we were three and one in that round when he thought we had already gone to the next round. So Mark DeRosa, you're kind of an idiot.
00:12:10
Speaker
Kenny Powers would not be not be happy with you. He'd say you're fucking out. And, um, Now, the qualification for where you play um is you need somebody in your direct lineage or you have to be a dual citizen. So it's a little bit leaner than the Olympic rules about how you can choose your team. But, like, the joke is always, like, when some team gets eliminated, like, oh, well, now he can start playing for the U.S. or something like that.
00:12:35
Speaker
But they never do that. Yeah, tonight, World Baseball Classic, 8 o'clock, U.S. Dominican Republic. It's going to be a fun game, hopefully. nice And Red Sox own roomy Roman Anthony. um has been absolutely crushing the ball for Team USA. um Actually, all of the Red Sox players have been crushing the ball for their teams.
00:12:56
Speaker
Nice. But, yeah, it's been fun to watch. sort nicess Nice, this nice, nice.

WWE and Wrestling Updates

00:13:00
Speaker
um Well, let's jump into what we watched in the last couple of weeks. We haven't been on since, i think, February. but um We'll talk about this briefly because it was such a disappointment, and it seems like we've been saying that a lot about the WWE lately.
00:13:15
Speaker
Yeah.
00:13:17
Speaker
but elimination chamber perhaps in the end of the month um from chicago cm punk versus fin beller cmunk one setting up a match with him roman reigns going into wrestlemania And Dan Housen debuted and was booed out of the building, but they've been using him the last few weeks on Raw.
00:13:36
Speaker
and that debut was That debut was a terrible first look at Dan Housen. Terribly produced, but they've been using him backstage in camera vignettes, which has worked perfectly for him. Ever since he's been fantastic.
00:13:49
Speaker
yeah um The social media awareness on Twitter is crazy right now for him. yeah yeah um He's all over my timeline, which is awesome because it takes me away from the fucking cult. Yes. yeahp But yeah, I mean, that's basically it. um The other thing, there's big rumors happening for WrestleMania. Jelly Roll was one of them. He showed up at SmackDown, so he'll be there at WrestleMania again. He's lost a ton of weight, I think like 300 or something pounds. Yep.
00:14:17
Speaker
Tom Brady. He's had kind of a off-again, on-again spat with Logan Paul. And he's been talking... Tom Brady's been talking a lot of shit about wrestling.
00:14:29
Speaker
Okay, can I just say one thing about Thomas Edward Brady? Yes. When the Patriots played in the Super Bowl, I probably mentioned this, I don't know. But when the Patriots played in the Super Bowl against the Seahawks, he said he has no dog in the fight.
00:14:45
Speaker
Thomas Edward Brady, the Patriots six months ago, erected a statue outside of fucking Gillette Stadium. For you to say you have no dog in the fight,
00:14:57
Speaker
I have big issues. In fact, I'm retired his number and give it to fucking some undrafted douchebag. Anyways, go on. Is that the consensus of everyone in New England? People were pissed when he said that. Yeah, i kind of knew they were, but.
00:15:11
Speaker
Well, the Raiders, the Raiders already agreed to hire the, I think the offensive coordinator of the Seahawks. And he's a partial owner of the Raiders. Okay. So that's probably why he said that.
00:15:24
Speaker
But, I mean, come on. Come on. Okay. Well, anyway. where He's gone. His next adventure may be in the WWE or WrestleMania. um There is a trademark department in the company that are trying to come up with names and t-shirts and merchandising for him, the specialized merchandise going into WrestleMania for Tom Brady, if it happened. um One of the names was T-Bone and the Untouchable Tom Brady.
00:15:51
Speaker
Okay. What? So, um I don't know if he'll have some sort of an interaction with Logan Paul. I don't know if he'll just show up like maybe outside of the ring um behind the barrier and Logan Paul will talk to him and smack him. I mean, that's happened before. the and and Yeah. obviously like that yeah yeah i don't I don't think he'll show up in the ring and take a chance of injuring himself. But, yeah. No.
00:16:14
Speaker
and No. I did see that. I didn't want to bring it up. WrestleMania is like a month from now. So, we'll talk about it more then. I know you've been traveling. I don't know what you've watched. I've watched Ted.
00:16:28
Speaker
I've watched Ted. That's about it. Excellent, because we're going talking about that fully. um Shrinking. Have you caught up on shrinking in the last couple of weeks, maybe the week before you left? I'm going watch tonight. Last night I got here and we pretty much partied.
00:16:41
Speaker
yeah Hung out, drank, played games, stuff like that. So I'll be getting to that probably tonight. roller coaster for an episode like this week um excellent went everywhere up and down up and down very last scene was gut-wrenching that's all i'll say uh great show on apple tv everybody should be watching it if you like ted lasso if you like bill lawrence shows he did scrubs he's in a whole bunch of stuff i think he did desperate housewives all those shows back in the early days but Yeah, great show on on episode 7. Next week's episode 8. I think there's 10 episodes. It'll be over by beginning of April. Paradise.
00:17:20
Speaker
Episode four and five, this show is just as good as the first season. It's on Hulu. Airs on Monday mornings. co It goes on Hulu there. It is very good.
00:17:30
Speaker
um A little bit different. They're not in the Dome this season. I think they've only shown one, maybe one scene in the Dome. Everything else is outside of the world where he's trying to find his wife. I don't want it to give too much away because there's a lot of spoilers this season compared to last season too where there was that big spoiler of the Dome. Um, but, uh, yeah, definitely worth watching on Hulu on the second season. I think they're just about halfway through the season.
00:17:53
Speaker
Um, and it's on Hulu Disney plus, if you have Disney and Hulu, and you can watch it on there too. A very good show. And like you mentioned, while we are away, the whole season two of Ted showed up on Peacock.

Ted Lasso Season Talk

00:18:06
Speaker
We've been waiting for this for a while, a couple of years now, and it did not disappoint, did not disappoint at all. Um, the only To me, before we get into it, I did not think it was because of the first season, but i love the first season so much.
00:18:20
Speaker
um And there's one episode we'll get into it that i didn't really care for, but this season overall was solid 8 out of 10. I fucking love this show. What episode did you not like? Oddly enough, the D&D one I was not feeling.
00:18:34
Speaker
See, that was the best episode of the season, for sure. it was yeah it was it's Everybody's saying it. Everybody everybody loves that episode. um They put a lot of work into it.
00:18:44
Speaker
um If you love D&D, you're going to love it, but there's just a lot ofy lot of sci-fi, a lot of CGI in that episode. um Seth MacFarlane. there's a There's a cameo of Bill Clinton in this, set in the 90s, of course, and Bill Clinton was the president. and He shows up at the Dunkin' Donuts somewhere in Boston.
00:19:03
Speaker
And Seth MacFarlane came in as as bill as Bill Clinton, and they used deepfake AI to change his face in the whole episode to Bill Clinton. um and they And he had the voice and everything down because, I mean, Seth MacFarlane does voices on Family Guy, so no no surprise there. But they tried some prosthetics, they tried traditional CGI, and nothing looked right, so they didn went with the AI stuff. that they i think they We talked about it before, they did with Luke Skywalker and Mandalorian. It just looks better. it's just the way that The way that works just looks better. That's the AI I like. It's the AI stuff that, when you see a an awards show like the Academy Awards, you see Tupac sitting next to Big E with Aaliyah in the audience. I don't like that shit.
00:19:46
Speaker
um And then Michael Jackson winning an award for what I don't know. Pedophile of the Year? I have no idea. But that's the type of AI I like, this type of AI, where you can use it to the advantage of whatever you're doing. Like you mentioned, you didn't like it. I loved it, the D&D episode. I thought it was yeah great. i did I did not laugh once during this entire episode.
00:20:07
Speaker
was just sitting there stone-faced. Speaking of Stoneface... They haven't seen it here, so I might watch it again this week. Speaking of Stoneface, when they're in the play at the high school and they're dressed as knights and they're stoned off their ass... um yeahp this i think i think that's I think that's my favorite episode. It's one of my favorite one of my favorites of the season, too. I love that one. yeah ah unfortunately, because this show takes, number one, takes a long time to get between seasons, just because of the CGI of the bear. Everything else is very easy to make for this show. It's very small sets, a high school set. Well, not now. He's graduated from high school. Spoiler. um But... weren Weren't they supposed drop, like, a secret extra episode, or was that a fake rumor?
00:20:51
Speaker
That's definitely fake. i never I didn't hear that. Okay. I saw it on Twitter. I figured. They always say that. It's funny. They say that about a lot of shows. I think... Probably because, I'm guessing, because of What show did that? Sandman did that. Like a week later, they had an episode that came out season one. That's right.
00:21:07
Speaker
um yeah But Seth MacFarlane says that season three is not guaranteed just because of the high budget it cost. between eight to ten yeah million dollars per episode which is a lot for a tv show um and especially when you consider the bear cgi takes a lot it's a lot for a tv show on peacock the game of thrones that's like right going out and getting lunch at mcdonald's but for peacock it's ah because the they have such a small a subscriber base and all that um he's basically he's basically talking about doing animation
00:21:38
Speaker
yeah the Animation is the big thing. Ted animated series will supposedly release later this year and it's continuation of the movies. So Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, all coming back to reprise their role. um But going to be animated. Animation is so much easier to do, so it's understandable. Seth and Farley did say that that if they wanted to, they could continue the Ted series. the Ted live action show for 20 seasons. They have plenty of stories they want to tell. um But it's like doing an Avengers movie every 22 minutes. so
00:22:11
Speaker
He's just trying to get an online campaign going, and I guarantee it. yeah um i think cause that waterpeep family guy right I think a lot of people are watching it, but the only difference is lot a lot of people at Peacock.
00:22:23
Speaker
Peacock is not one of the higher streaming services, so that's the problem. If it was on Netflix and it was on another streaming service, maybe. Right. I saw somebody tweet out and it's kind of true. Like it's really one of the few shows, especially on Peacock, it's one of the few streaming shows where you hear people like in real life just out talking about.
00:22:41
Speaker
Yeah. um So I think it's very popular to those that have Peacock. But the issue is Peacock has such a small subscriber based compared like HBO or or Netflix that is going to be tough.
00:22:53
Speaker
ah Yeah, the social media word of this show, it's on every everything. it's It's everywhere, on Twitter, on Facebook, at least for the first week. And, and of course, that dies down usually once the once the view viewing dies down. But i hope we see I hope we see a live action season three.
00:23:09
Speaker
um Going to college, that be interesting, seeing and Ted going to college. That would be a lot of fun. Yeah. It would be great. They they did the Thunder Buddies they they did the thunder buddies get buddy's gag in the beginning of the the end of the first season. um Speaking of Thunder, wow, that's a good time. Yeah. yeah um But yeah, great show. Everybody should watch It's on Peacock, season one and season two. um Both seasons are great. And if you've never seen the movies, you should definitely go back and watch those two because those are great. The first one's classic, so... um i watched I watched a couple

Paul McCartney Documentary

00:23:45
Speaker
of things. I don't think you watched either one of them. Well, i'll talk about this documentary. i know you didn't watch this. Man on the Run, Paul McCartney. This is a documentary all about Paul McCartney um when he left the Beatles at the end of the 60s. He kind of didn't know where to go after that because he was in this ensemble for so long. He didn't know how to create the music on his own. So this is all talking about him going solo in this in the 70s, going into a little bit into the eighty s mostly in the 70s, and creating the band Wings. And of course, yeah Band on the Run, and that record's such a such a great record, complete. I think there's not too many songs on it either. But yeah, and Meeting Linda...
00:24:27
Speaker
um getting together and just they they she wasn't a singer but she joined wings um she kind of talked her into it and uh and of course uh their romance was a hit it was just uh just a famous romance in hollywood um she died in the 90s of cancer but um yeah great documentary this is on prime right now um If you love any Beatles history, Beatles documentary any stuff, this is on there. You watch it a couple hours. Yeah, it goes pretty in-depth about um his solo career. And it talks a little bit about when John, I think ends right about when John Lennon gets shot. So it talks about him, talks about him finding out that news going out of the, when that happened, but. Yeah, great documentary. And a movie.
00:25:11
Speaker
um I know you haven't had a chance to see this yet, but it's on Netflix. going to briefly talk about it. Called War Machine. Starring Alan Richson. There you go. there you go yeah ah Starring Alan Richson. I have not.
00:25:26
Speaker
um yeah I have not. But it's very good. And it makes it makes the point that Alan Richson needs a franchise. um he needs I'm not sure if this is it, but he needs a franchise of some kind.
00:25:40
Speaker
A film franchise. Because he already has a TV franchise. A film franchise that he can he can carry for multiple movies. um maybe not I think he'd be a great a great blockbuster franchise too in the in the theater. um yeah Kind of...
00:25:54
Speaker
And on Netflix, it's a little different. We say that all the time, TV versus about movie theater releases. But this is one of the better movies I've seen on Netflix, interestingly enough. A lot of action. It's basically about a machine that comes down to earth. You've seen the trailer. You already know this. And he's out there with a platoon of people that are training.
00:26:14
Speaker
And they're thinking it's part of the training program ri in the beginning. But no, it's ah it's an invasion of some kind. I don't want to get into too many spoilers. But um yeah, it's very good. Four out of five. um The other thing I wanted to bring up, I but i don't think we're going to do it now. till you get back. But um I have rated all the Tarantino movies. We mentioned it in the last episode.
00:26:36
Speaker
Um, yeah and I do, I do want to get into that. Um, when you get back, when you have more time to kind of figure that list out, I'm sure you already have an idea.

Game of Thrones Movie Speculation

00:26:44
Speaker
um and there is a few I need to rewatch before finalizing, um, which usually happens. It happens with my top 10 every year too. So yeah.
00:26:54
Speaker
Um, you're on a little bit of a delay. I don't know what happened after the power problem or whatever just happened. I think we're okay though. Um, that being said, let's get into the news.
00:27:14
Speaker
And it's not a new 7th trailer, roundup.
00:27:19
Speaker
ah Got a trailer for a movie called Power Ballad. Starring Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas. And it looks like Paul Rudd writes songs and Nick Jonas is ah is a star that steals them. And that's basically what I've got from it. um and you Interesting. interesting Yeah, it's a little small trailer. you know It's like maybe 40 seconds. um That's all we've seen so far. you know Keep an eye on that. Pinocchio Unstrong. We talk about this Pooniverse, and it's the first look trailer of this movie.
00:27:54
Speaker
It looks horrifying. And in order for Pinocchio to become a real boy, he starts stealing body parts and putting it onto himself, like stealing faces, and it looks creepy as fuck. This looks like something yeah like yeah this is like something that you would, out of all these Pooniverse movies, this is something that you would be down for.
00:28:11
Speaker
um Yeah, they've all been el awful so far. i can't wait for this one, though. Yeah, the trailer looked great. I like Pinocchio, so I may actually watch this one. so yeah um A brand new trailer for a movie called Hocum, starring Adam Scott. It's set in this like weird haunted house. Something about the film follows a horror novelist who travels to an Irish inn to scatter his parents' ashes, unaware that the inn is rumored to be haunted by a witch. The trailer looked interesting. go to keep an eye on that I do like Adam Scott.
00:28:40
Speaker
Of course, in Severance, Boy Meets World back in the day. He played Griff. Keep an eye on that. boy grif ah This weird trailer, semi-like Will Ferrell in some movies, but A movie called The Hawk coming out on Netflix sometime this summer.
00:29:00
Speaker
Trailer looked dumb. It was maybe 30 seconds, just a preview of what this is all about. I'm not sure if I watched it. You know how I feel about Will Ferrell. like you know how i feel about him like There are supported three. yeah he's fucking great supporting roles and there's a couple movies like i like allfpha obviously cause everyone fucking likes ellf but for the most part as a liy man like elf the other guys there's probably one more i probably like the in his movie he get in but well he was telling of him doing these sports movies Step Brothers is one of my favorite comedies. Step Brothers is the other one. I'm not sure if I'm going to watch that either. It looked very bad. I'm going to watch this. I think it comes out next week. Came on my radar while we were away. You know I love time travel fuckery.
00:29:46
Speaker
Mike and Nick and Nick and Alice. um of course um vince vaughn plays to the same person coming back in through time travel fuckery named nick nice um and ah if you haven't seen the trailer don't watch it you love to be you love to be surprised by stuff um yeah and of course james marston's in that as well uh isa gonzalez what i've seen in something i just can't think of what i've seen her in but trail looked great. Time travel fuckery, of course, which we love on this show. Um, the other time travel, there was something else. Oh, uh, um, uh, the new movie with, um, um,
00:30:24
Speaker
Sam Rockwell that just came out. We're going watch that for next month sometime or the next episode. going to try to watch that. Good luck. nice one Don't die. but yeah Yes, i want to watch that too.
00:30:36
Speaker
And a new documentary mentioned at the last episode. A trailer came out for Lorne. All about Lorne Michaels. Comes out on April seventeenth in theaters. Probably sometime in May digitally.
00:30:48
Speaker
But I cannot wait to watch that because I've been loving all the Saturday Night Live stuff they've been doing the last year. I'm going to definitely watch that. ah Got a brand new trailer for the boys final season comes out just a couple weeks. The first episode comes out. I think there's two episodes air April 8th. You got the boys and we got all the vat boys there. and yeah, here's all the episode releases. Got first two episodes coming on April 8th and the finale airs on May twentieth so We look forward to that. um Malcolm in the Middle. Wasn't a big fan of the show, but the trailer looked funny. I love Bryan Cranston now. Didn't really know him much back when the show first aired, early 2000s. Yeah, i miss I missed this show. I never watched it.
00:31:33
Speaker
Yeah, me too. I think I watched it. was on something It was on after something I was watching on Fox that would air off after that, but I don't remember what it was. But yeah, just a continuation kind of reboot of malcolm Malcolm's life to see what he's doing 20 years later. Basically what you'd expect from a show like this. So yeah, everybody's come back except for the youngest son. and i know they recast him. Okay.
00:31:54
Speaker
Brand new look at Guy Ritchie's new movie with Henry Cavill. And Jake Gyllenhaal called In the Grey. Looked great. and It looks just like all of ah all of ah Guy Ritchie's other action movies. So yeah, right on the same par of that. Comes out May 15th.
00:32:11
Speaker
um This movie looks fucking weird. um It's got the kid from the Goldbergs and it's got the kid from Stranger Things. And it's a college road to college trip movie called Pizza Movie on Hulu, April 3rd, about drugs and hallucinations and trying to get a pizza before the end of the day. So the drugs will wear off. it looks weird. But I do want to bring that up.
00:32:36
Speaker
And a trailer for Super Mario Galaxy comes out just a few weeks from now. Looked great. um Cannot wait. Love the first movie. Love Mario, of course. We both do. So, cannot wait to see ah see this. Looks like it's going to be ah another love love nostalgia fest for growing up.
00:32:56
Speaker
um And joining the cast of Yoshi... I don't know why they why they did this. As Yoshi... It's Childish Gambino, Donald Glover. Yes. Luis Guzman is going to be playing Wart the Frog, and Issa Rae is going playing Honey Queen. I don't know what game that's from, but yeah. i Got another teaser with just as much more questions for just Disclosure Day but leded by Steven Spielberg. This came out just a couple days ago, and I have even more questions now than I did from the first trailer. Yep. It would be interesting if we see like this it being a continuation of E.T. We just didn't know it yet. Yeah.
00:33:35
Speaker
yeah But yeah, I don't know. i mean, he's done, what is this? His third big, big blockbuster alien movie, and he did Close Encounters, and then he did E.T., and then this, right? So yeah, who knows? yep Yeah, who knows? um Another big trailer, only a minute long, but Michael. I cannot wait for this movie. Tickets just went on sale. Comes out next month. We see a little bit more glimpse of the Jackson 5, glimpse of Michael producing his records, and and some brand new posters for that as well.
00:34:06
Speaker
And we got the soundtrack, which kind of tells you where the movie is going to land as far as time-wise. Of course, it's going to the Jackson 5, but it's going end on the bat bad, which is going to be like mid-88, 87. So they're not going any further than that. So the rumor has always been that there's going to be a second movie, and that probably hasn't been confirmed yet, but this is probably more proof of that. Going and going into the 80s and 90s, of course, with the Dangerous album and everything else that happened to him. but
00:34:37
Speaker
ah yeah And finally, the big thing that released just a couple of days after our last episode was the Lanterns trailer released. Been a while, but we'll talk about it because we haven't talked about it yet. But visually looks great. A lot of people are shitting on it just because of the tone of the color.
00:34:53
Speaker
Um, this show has been said from the very beginning, it's very much like True Detective. It's going to have that same gritty feel. Everybody should know that by now. You're not expecting the green glow right away. Right.
00:35:07
Speaker
But everybody and also complaining about it That could be a huge, that could be a huge moment the show too, like when Pierre actually gets his ring. And when you actually see the aura, um... they HBO decided to go ahead and finish up House the Dragons Season 3 before doing this, um which makes sense because Game of Thrones is kind of hot again after Night of the Seven Kingdoms. yeah um But I can't wait for this. um Aaron Pierre is going to fucking crush it, and I'm sure we've got more to talk about him in news coming up.
00:35:35
Speaker
And obviously, you know how i feel about Kyle Chandler. yeah i don't know if we had all cmler I don't know if we have any. What's the Aaron Pierre news? Maybe I don't have it in there. Oh, he's he's officially in Man of Tomorrow.
00:35:48
Speaker
Oh, yeah, I do have that. I forgot about this. It's been so long, and we've been doing it because we did a show last. There's so probably a ton of news and whatnot, but yeah, he's give me in Man of Tomorrow. We'll talk about that again later. the others yeah The other thing nobody's talking about, one of the synopsis of this show when it was announced was Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart are looking for a murder mystery.
00:36:10
Speaker
um mean It sounded like to me like they were talking about a lantern that got murdered. Is that Guy Gardner? No. Are you sure? um I think it's Alan Scott.
00:36:22
Speaker
And I think... Prediction-wise... Hal Jordan's going to die, and you'll yeah Guy Gardner meets Aaron Piers. Who does, in the comics, when when um when when Hal Jordan dies, what does he become? I can't remember the name. Parallax. Parallax, yeah. Parallax, okay. And he's almost a bigger character in his death than he is. That's what I heard. That's Hal Jordan. yeah So.
00:36:48
Speaker
um I'm sticking with the Guy Gardner only because yeahp he's part of the show. He's already announced he's part of the cast. I haven't seen him in in any of the promos yet, which is weird. But maybe there's a reason for that. And that's the only reason I'm kind of thinking, well, is he the murder mystery of this whole thing? And the other thing that kind of proved it in the trailer, the other thing that kind of proved in the trailer is like how Jordan's talking about all the lanterns. He's like, none of them speak English. I'm the only human.
00:37:18
Speaker
Well, we don't know where this takes place in the timeline. Right, yeah. We don't know that. So this might be, maybe he just hasn't met Guy yet, or maybe Guy isn't technically a Green Lantern because he's in the Justice Gang.
00:37:31
Speaker
Right, yeah. yeah well He's not part of the Green Lantern Corps, or he doesn't associate with himself with the Lanterns at this point, maybe. um I'm not sure, but a lot of people are not happy about this online, which makes sense because it's online. It's Twitter.
00:37:48
Speaker
yeah Anything they complain about, especially DC, and the DC stuff is the most volatile part of the internet community right now. Especially the Snyder. Star Wars is bad. so that Star Wars is kind of lightened up a little bit just because there's nothing coming out. um i was going to say, there's nothing to talk about, yeah yeah. There's nothing coming out, but there will be. I think next year will have a better impact on Star Wars than this year. Yeah, because May we got Mandalorian and Goku. Nobody really cares about that.
00:38:20
Speaker
Starfighter, everybody's excited for Even every Star star Wars fan. so Box office, when we left, Scream 7 just opened. You just reviewed it. For three weeks, um number one, first week it made $64 million. second week made seventeen million um and it ended up making, in the first week, $97.2 million worldwide.
00:38:40
Speaker
two million worldwide And just today, in its third weekend, $176 million total making the all-time record for any of their ah movie fans in that franchise.
00:38:52
Speaker
How's that boycott going? Oh, not well, apparently. Yeah, everybody's seen that movie. So, yeah, surprising. um Another big movie opened while we were away. Hoppers opened.
00:39:04
Speaker
You saw The Bride. Did you review The Bride? I did see The Bride. Um... I loved it. Um, yeah and as soon as I got out theater, I saw all the backlash and I'm like, but basically, um,
00:39:18
Speaker
When you watch it, because I'm assuming you will. I will. its sure what it's It's what the Joker 2 should have been. Okay. and That'll make sense when you watch it.
00:39:29
Speaker
That'll make sense when you watch it. enjoyed it I had loved it. okay I saw it in IMAX 2, so it's only like the fourth movie I've seen in IMAX. But I enjoyed the hell out of it.
00:39:41
Speaker
Excellent. Yeah, I cannot wait to watch that. um And while we are away, um the last day that we recorded the Warner Brothers a Paramount deal was going to be announced. It was announced after we got off the pod the next day. Yep. $110 billion dollar deal. Netflix says that they they were paid immediately the $2.8 billion breakup fee.
00:40:04
Speaker
um And movie theaters were saying they're going to keep lobbying the Warner Brothers deal and they're going target Paramount now. Didn't change anything, just a new name to go after.
00:40:14
Speaker
um And ah the other news that came out of it, and which i kind of talked about because i read about it right before we recorded the last episode, but um they are going to merge HBO Max and Paramount Plus. They're going combined into one service. That was the big thing with Paramount. They wanted to have one huge service for the consumers to watch, which will probably be $35, $40. Because when you do that, you're gonna have to milk the fucking consumer. and I mean, not for nothing, um Paramount might be my favorite streamer. And hbo' is probably my second favorite at this point. And that's obviously due to the fact that you can watch Comedy Central Live, you can watch a bunch of stuff live, football games, and UFC.
00:40:52
Speaker
um Their interface. i go this I go to HBO for their content. The interface is not great. on Paramount sucks. HBO hio probably has one of the better ones. um But if they can combine that what the faults are of ah take those out and put the best parts of each into one app, I would love that.
00:41:10
Speaker
um Yes, I agree. Would they would they settle on, what what name would they settle on? Is it going to be an HBO name? it going to be Paramount? Both are huge names, but HBO is a more, it's hard to know where they would stand on that.
00:41:24
Speaker
I think it would be best just to have an HBO subsection of the Paramount app. Okay. Or, yeah, or somehow can combine the names, but don't think they can really do that, or come up with something new, white and but even that, like, HBO Max sucks.
00:41:38
Speaker
Yeah, like, don't fucking do Paramount Max or some stupid shit. Like, HBO is the fucking brand name. yeah um It is, yeah. More than Paramount. Paramount's a big studio name, but not a brand name, no. So, if... Yeah, I mean, I would probably just do a subsection of HBO within the Paramount app.
00:41:56
Speaker
Hmm. Similar to Disney Plus with Hulu has a like a little subsection there. You can go to Hulu straight from there. I think that would be the best way to do it. Because you don't want to lose the HBO name because that name is kind of synonymous with um good content.
00:42:10
Speaker
Right. And just a history of what's it been, 40, 45 years of just great content. and So yeah, history there. Like I mentioned, Paramount's a studio, though. It's it's different if you're you don't really have Paramount. and You have Paramount Network, but they're not big.
00:42:24
Speaker
HBO is just a big name, had big, big monumental episodes airing so with The Sopranos, The Wire, everything. Everybody knows that that brand. but The other stuff that was announced during this deal, 15 films per studio with 45-day theatrical windows. Got some news on that. We'll talk about that in a minute. um The merged company will have $79 billion dollars in debt.
00:42:47
Speaker
Great. Yeah. $6 billion dollars in cost-cutting, including consolidating the tech infrastructure, real estate, which means one of the studios could be closed down. That would be a travesty to history, but corporate overheads, in other words... um Getting some of the corporate money, all these guys making multiple hundreds of billions of dollars, millions of dollars a year, firing them, giving them ah closeout packages, maybe Zazov. And no plans to sell off, spin off any of their cable assets, which they did get a lot um and flexibility to put sports like UFC on any cable network. um UFC is right now is on Paramount.
00:43:24
Speaker
um And they're talking about maybe putting that on a cable network. And we'll continue to license the movies and TV shows to other studios and and apps and streaming services. um And AI will be used as a tool for artists, but never for a replacement for storytellers.
00:43:39
Speaker
Um, they have to put that in there because AI is such a big deal right now and everybody's going to asking about it. Um, but that's definitely, uh, that was the end of that clause. Um, starting next month, this is different, but I did want to bring it up before we get into the next part. It's kind of related. Um,
00:43:56
Speaker
Amazon Prime, we have that. What is it, $130, $140 a year? You get two days shipping, one day if you're closer to ah to where our warehouse is. You get Amazon Prime, the streaming service.
00:44:10
Speaker
Which is for pretty a decent. the The platform itself, the the program itself, I don't like the controls of it. I don't like navigating it. But they have some great stuff on there.
00:44:22
Speaker
um But they want two dollars they wanted for commercial free. Which, if you're watching it, commercials aren't bad on Amazon Prime. $2.99, not bad per month.
00:44:33
Speaker
But now they've upped the ante. um Not only do they want $2 more for $4.99 a month, but they're putting the 4K in a paywall. So in order to watch 4K on Amazon Prime now, you have to pay the $4.99, anything premium after that.
00:44:49
Speaker
So if you have Amazon Prime, you get the shipping and all that. You're going to get access to it, but you're only going to get it in 1080p. Full of commercials, too. My opinion on that is, i know I've been over this with you with 4K streaming, is it's not as good as like four k like on a disc anyways. like It's just slightly better than ten d p so right i don't like it looks It obviously looks better than but i'm like for the I'll pay a month, i'm like I'll just watch it in because...
00:45:18
Speaker
fucking i still watch old blu-rays there kennedy commercials commercials mean more to me than four k for sure i don't um i'd rather not have the commercials it depends on the and platform but yeah like you said the the commercials on that service aren't that bad no and like it gives you a chance to like go to the bathroom or grab a drink or whatever you know sometimes it's the only reason i'd say that's sometimes it does put me out of stuff but um But yeah, i and the other thing um the other thing I was going to bring up, they also added the annual like the annual idea for that as well. um where ah i think it's $45.99 for the whole year.
00:45:58
Speaker
yeah um And the other thing, this is this is what I was kind of bringing up, movie theaters, um Universal Studios has extended the theatrical window to five weekends in 2026. Yeah. Who's in the background talking? i This is... Oh, that's not... Vicky's on the phone. um I... I think they're just doing this so that it gets fucking pushed through. Because otherwise, if they didn't say so things like this, the entire industry would be against them.
00:46:30
Speaker
In general, I hope it doesn't go through. Like, Zazzler seems like he's good... He's okay with it if it doesn't go through, too. Right. This is Universal, but I think everybody every studio has kind of every studio that's kind of brought up, when this news was brought up from Universal, every studio has kind of been talking about it as well, um where this is kind of reinvigorating the movie theater experience more and more. And then 2027, the other thing of this, um they're going to add two more weekends. So it's going to be, what is it, 45 days? So that end up being 45 days. Yeah. Yep.
00:47:02
Speaker
a month and a half. so they so they're So they're going to end up eventually having almost two months of theater exclusivity before going to digital, going to DVD, whatever. um Kind of back to pre-pandemic what it used to be. so Yep. yeah um Andor, the writer, um House of Cards showrunner Bo Willimon, is writing the ah the movie Game of Thrones. um Not sure what part of the universe it's going to be called, but the writer of and the creator of House of Cards showrunner. um
00:47:37
Speaker
Not even really sure what the timeline is. The rumor is that it's Aegon's Conquest. right which But there's two versions of that that are kind of in pre-production right now. That and the Matt Mattinson Tomlinson or whatever his name is. um one The co-writer of the Batman is also doing one. um Like I said, I think it'd be great to have like a, a mini series written by what one or the other and that leading into the actual movie of it. um It's an okay story. um Not one I would love to see. Like there's other ones within the lore, but I mean, obviously I'd be down and hopefully they're good.
00:48:16
Speaker
Yeah, what I want to see is a Mad King, but that's going to be a play in fucking the UK. Yeah, you want to see that whole thing, which would be... That would be a very good like two to three season miniseries. Having Robert Baratheon take down Rhaegar that tried it tried out would be awesome. Not only that, like john you get the whole Jon Snow arc. You get a whole bunch of stuff out of it. You get that. you get You get Ned, basically. Yeah, Ned.
00:48:41
Speaker
Ned basically only marrying Catelyn because... yep because her his brother was supposed marry her. Then his brother died. So the Tullys were going to join back with the Targaryen forces. If, if a Stark didn't marry her. So, um, you have a lot of stuff going on in that. The only thing is like, because I've read the books and I've done all the deep dive, like this, that entire thing has already been like planned out. like, you know, every single detail where a lot of other stories are just like little plot points, you know about, but not the actual story.
00:49:11
Speaker
Um, but you know I'm down for anything Game of Thrones, especially after Night the Seven Kingdoms. so Yeah. ah Yeah, so we'll have to wait and see on that. um And they did have some members joining the cast of the next season, and a Night of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2. Don't know any of them. Don't need that one. That's what i need right there. um Yeah, so I don't know any of those characters. Don't know any of those actresses, actors. Yep.
00:49:37
Speaker
And I'm not listening to the audiobooks until after the season releases. I watch i listened to the one that covered the last season. um Fantastic audiobook. It's like an hour and a half or something. like It's not very long. And they added little things to the show that made the show much better, which is always a good thing.
00:49:55
Speaker
when you take the source material, which is written in Dunk's perspective and like, like that whole scene with like egg on, um, or egg and his brother where he's like about to like stab him in sleep is all made up to the show. And I think that added so much to the show yeah and into that character. Um, so I cannot wait for the next season of the night seven kingdoms. Yeah, me too. Can't wait.
00:50:17
Speaker
Can't wait for the summer, too, when the House of Dragons is back. Bruce Campbell, while we were away, announced that he has cancer, and it looks like it's inoperable, and it looks like yeah he's kind of taking ah taking a step back from appearances and everything to kind of try to heal and try to ah do what he can too to treat it as much as possible. But, yeah, hate to see that.
00:50:39
Speaker
um It was rumored while we were away that Chris Rock and Will Smith are reportedly preparing to bury the hatchet, in a sit-down interview with ABC News. Have not heard any more about that, but it's funny the Oscars are happening tonight because it wasn't that where it happened in the first place just a few years ago? Yeah, and that was when I fucking... I'm watching the Oscars, and that was the one time I got up to piss the entire night.
00:51:03
Speaker
And I come back in, and everyone's like and for it. I'm like, what the hell just happened? oh yeah And like Chris Rock is like, okay, it was a G.I. Jane joke or whatever, and that's when I walk back in. I'm like, what the hell? And then like two seconds later, my Twitter feed blew up with it. And I'm like, oh, okay. Yeah. The Twitter, the Twitter feed that night was incredible seeing this. The, they did, did Chris Rock just got slapped by Will Smith? Just, I kept seeing them And then all of a sudden the video start coming. I was like, whoa. yeah. Great. i Speaking of the Oscars, the night before the Oscars, which was last night, we get the Razzie nominations and the Razzie wins. Oh, And the frontrunner for winning was... Da-da-da-da-da-da! War of the Worlds. White. And Snow White. Yeah, both of them.
00:51:51
Speaker
Is that Ice Cube? Ice Cube. Worst Picture War of the Worlds. Worst Actor Ice Cube. um Worst... Let's see. All Seven Dwarfs. Worst Supporting Actor. Razzie Redeemer Award. Kate Hudson for Song Song Blue. I told you she's great in that movie. um And Worst Screen Combo. All Seven Dwarfs. Worst prequel remake or ripoff, War of the Worlds.
00:52:14
Speaker
Worst director, War of the Worlds. Worst screenplay, War of the Worlds. So I told you, War the Worlds swept the worst show. got to see this now. Is that on Amazon? What's that on? That's on Prime, yeah. I watched it too because of the hype, but it it's not good. It's not a good movie. His acting is horrible. Yeah, but yeah. I gotta see it now, though. yeah Love the Razzies. I love that ah that they happened the night before the Oscars. um The only other award that I like is the Anatomy Awards from Mr. Skin.
00:52:43
Speaker
But that's yeah that's just because it's creepy and weird. but um And speaking of Seth and Farland earlier, um we're getting a new Stewie animated series coming out next year. Yes. It's Stewie going through time with his preschool friends in a and a talking turtle. And he's going to doing space and time. Reminds me a lot of Rick and Morty, but with Stewie. So we'll have to wait and see. I've seen, I've watched him a lot of Family Guy on my travels because when stay in a hotel, i was running Comedy Central and they just run marathons with that in South Park. Oh yeah, yeah. So I've seen more Family Guy in the last week, 10 days than I have in probably five years.
00:53:20
Speaker
Yep. ah But two season order um is supposed to come out, i believe, starting next year or the year after. So cannot wait. Haven't watched Family Guy in a while. i may I may get into this. I like that time travel fuckery type of shit. So maybe I'll watch it. um While We Were Away, Larry David, the the new series he has that coming out on HBO.

It's titled Life, yeah Larry, and the pursuit Pursuit of Unhappiness. comes out on June 27th. i think I can't remember how many episodes. Seven episodes. um And it's going to be tackling everything about American history. um And our guest stars include Bill Hader, Catherine Hahn as Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln, John Hamm and Sean Hayes as the Wright Brothers, And Barack Obama's going a part of it. And of course, all the cast of Curb is going to be in that too. Susie Eastman, J.B. Smooth, Jeff Garland. um So yeah, I cannot wait for that. um The trailer came out of him um of the the world the end of World War II, the sailor that kisses the girl in the middle of Times Square. And ah and Larry David comes in to steal the kiss and the girl it just pushes him away. Like, what are you trying to do?
00:54:31
Speaker
It's fucking funny. But yeah, cannot wait. Um... Yeah, I can't wait. It's going to be awesome. I love Larry, and it's going to be set with that type of humor of Curb, so I cannot wait. It's going to a Curb your enthusiasm through history, basically. Yeah, it's going to be awesome. It's going to be awesome. Nathan Fillion announced today, and it wasn't big on Firefly. I know lot of people love Firefly, but Firefly was around probably 25 years ago, maybe longer. Yeah, it was. It was longer.
00:55:00
Speaker
Cause I was saying at my buddy Stu's and he's the one he let me borrow the first season on like, I think it was the first like set he bought on like DVD. He let me borrow back in the day. but um It was okay. It was okay.
00:55:12
Speaker
they're going to coming back for the whole entire cast, the original cast for an animated series it's in development. They're trying to find a network for it and and and money for it. So yeah. yeah ah if you're If you're into Firefly, that's good news for you. Speaking of TV series coming to an end, the bear is going to end this next season coming out this summer, season five.
00:55:32
Speaker
Jamie Lee Curtis broke the news, but then, and then everybody broke the news, including i remember producers of the show. Remember last year when we didn't know if that would be the last season? Like, that was the weirdest thing. yeah Like, we had no idea it would be the last season. They did the countdown the entire time. Yeah. And then it ended, and you're like, there's no way that could be the last season. No, no, yeah. Glad to come back for one more. yeah Glad to come back. yeah Cannot wait. um Speaking of reboots and and cancellations, this didn't even have a chance to hit the runway.
00:56:00
Speaker
ah The Buffy reboot, they filmed the pilot for it, and Hulu canceled it before could go into full production. um Sarah Michelle Gellar announced yesterday that ah that they are decided not to pick up the series. So, yeah, ah Buffy wasn't huge into that either. It was kind of passed me by in the late 90s.
00:56:18
Speaker
Yeah, that was ah that wouldn't be something i would watch when I was that age. No, no. ah The closest thing I watched to that was Smallville, but it wasn't even on the same level as superhero related. but Right. um Like, we obviously, Smallville you'll watch. Yep.
00:56:33
Speaker
In Doctor Who news, um we don't talk about it much, but the old class, Doctor Who's been around since 1963. And there's a lot of stuff from the old days, black and white stuff, that aired once, never repeated again, and a lot of those tapes are are gone.
00:56:49
Speaker
They just got destroyed or weren't saved or nothing. there's a lot of lost episodes of Doctor Who the first few seasons. And every once in a while, they always talk about new stuff being found, and maybe somebody had stuff in their...
00:57:02
Speaker
in their basement or stuff in their attic. And when they pass, end up getting found. Well, as this happened, uh, two episodes, lost episodes from 1965 were found part of the same arc. It was like a five episode arc. And I think there's three of the five episodes now in, in that they, that they found, including these two, uh, from November of 1965. And they're going to be airing, I believe in a couple of weeks in, uh, on, uh, on, uh, in the UK on BBC, but, Yeah, interesting because a lot of this stuff, you hear it with older TV shows, not just Doctor Who, but they didn't really think about DVDs back then or or even re-showing any of these shows so they should air once and be lost. And this is definitely one of those shows that has now a big, huge cult following that people want to see, but they're all lost. Like they said in ah like they said in Back to the Future, what's a rerun?
00:57:54
Speaker
Right, exactly. They didn't do that shit until like the eighty s yeah Didn't do that until the 80s. Speaking of cancellations, G.I. Joe, ah Max Landis was writing a treatment for it and Paramount passed on that as well. I think Hollywood god i think hollywood right now is just kind of saving money because money is tight for it a lot of people and that includes the businesses of the world of the world too.
00:58:21
Speaker
um Max Landis got cancelled. That too. I think the backlash when everyone found out about him doing this, and they were like, why are you having him and Seth Rogen write the same project, basically? It was Danny McBride. I think the backlash is why they... Oh yeah, sorry, Danny McBride. That was the other part of the story I was going to talk about, yeah. Danny McBride's writing a separate script for that. That news came out like a week ago, and the other Max Landis news came out, I believe, yesterday or the day before. So that was what was happening. Everybody's questioning, why are there two scripts being written? No, the original news was like two weeks ago when they were both writing it and they were going to mash the two scripts up together, which sounds like a fucking terrible idea. Yeah.
00:59:06
Speaker
So, yeah. And I think that was more of a confusion. I think it came from Hollywood Reporter. I think it was more confusion from them. they just didn't know the whole story. i think, I don't think the Max Landis stuff they knew. i think it was speculation. If I were to guess, but I speculate on their speculation. Um...
00:59:22
Speaker
yes Arnold Schwarzenegger. I don't know what he's promoting, what he's doing, but he's talking a lot about future projects he wants to do. He's in his late 70s, almost 80. He wants to do a Conan 3. He says it's in the works. He wasn't huge into Conan. are you Did you watch the Conan movies when you were growing up?
00:59:41
Speaker
I haven't seen any of them. I did not. I watched it for the first time about eight months ago when I got... I got it on 4K. Oh, yeah. The first Conan movie. It was not my jam. Yeah, don't know if it would be my jam. It was my jam. so Conan three happening. I think you call King Conan or something like that. Um, new predator movie talks. So that we already knew that because of predator badlands. We knew that, that he was already being asked, right? Because it's been rumored in, of course, the animated series. Yeah. Um, and commando too, there's a script for it. Um, and, uh, yeah, uh, I don't know. Arnold kind of done with Terminator, I guess. I don't know where he stands in Hollywood right now. He's had heart attacks. He's had heart surgeries. He's not the Arnold of the past anymore. Bro, he's basically 80 years old. Right.
01:00:40
Speaker
And I'm guessing he punched himself full of steroids for almost a decade in the 70s. Right. He's heard of it. Health problems, heart attacks and whatnot. um Plus whatever drugs he did back then too because yeah he was rich and famous in the 80s when cocaine came about. I'm assuming... Cocaine's a hell of a drug.
01:00:58
Speaker
We may not have a lot of armor left in us. No. But if he returns to some of his older stuff, especially Predator, I would be very happy. I think out of all of those, Predator is the one that has the most legs just because of the re reinvigoration that franchise. It makes the most sense. Yep, yep. For sure. It makes the most sense. They've already kind of given them the layup for this to come back. If they did...
01:01:22
Speaker
Because there's the rumor of them doing the Alien Predator movie with the guy that did Romulus also, Fede Alvarez, um and Treckenberg, like, doing it together. um That, if he was able to do come back in the Predator franchise that way, i think would be amazing. i Interesting. if he was If he was on, like, if it was, like, Alien vs. Predator, but, like, he's the human, I think that'd be awesome. But then again, bro's 80 and he's not looking great.
01:01:48
Speaker
Yeah. It's just, come with the times. He's fucking 80, like, Can't do anything about that. Yeah, can you be an 80-year-old action star and walk like he does and look like you're about to fall over every time you walk through a doorway?
01:02:03
Speaker
I'm guessing they would de-age him. um Oh, they'd have to. Even it was only like 10 years. Take like 10 years off. They tried that in Terminator 3. Like Harrison Ford. Yeah, they'd try that in Terminator. Salvation, right?
01:02:15
Speaker
They used his face. Yeah, Salvation, they used AI or whatever. They called it CGI. Body double. yeah Body double with his face or something. Yes. Yep. So they'd have to do that. But um they would not make him look that young. young Just like 10 years younger would be fine.
01:02:32
Speaker
yep Kate Winslet is cast as a lead in The Lord of the Rings The Hunt for Gollum. This movie is still coming out December 17th of 2027, a year and a half from now. CGI-heavy movie in a year and a half.
01:02:46
Speaker
maybe a little bit little Maybe year and three quarters. I don't know if that's going to hit the the deadline of that, but yeah, Kate Winslet joined the cast. um It got exclusive images for Over Your Dead bar Body starring um Jason Segel and samara sam Samara Weaving. who is, I believe, Hugo Weaving's daughter. But yeah, and Timothy Oliphant's in there too. it comes out April 24th. The film follows a couple who go to a secluded cabin, not knowing that they are both secretly planning to kill one another. um Yeah, it looks great. So I haven't seen the trailer yet, but did want to bring that up. Lamor Morris, who's going to be in Spider and spider Noir. um Has been cast as Garfield in a new Garfield 2D animated series on Paramount+. plus I love Lamour. I love him in a New Girl. um I'm not a big, huge fan Garfield, though. um
01:03:38
Speaker
Oh, really? i will i'm not i I kind of grew up on Garfield, but grew up on him in the sense that... His Christmas special was one I would watch every year. I fucking love the Garfield Christmas special, but that's about it. Like, like I'd watch it when I was younger because it's a fucking cartoon cat and I was, you know, seven years old. right um But, like, the the Christmas special to me is what I think of when think of Garfield. Yeah. Bradley Cooper is in talks to write, direct, and co-star in the Margot Robbie-led Ocean's Eleven prequel. um Wasn't there already an Ocean 8? So this would be Ocean 9? Yeah.
01:04:14
Speaker
that would and That was like the all-female with Erin Brockovich or whatever her name is. oh yeah i didn't think she was in I didn't think she was in that. I didn't think Julia Roberts was in that. i didn't ever I never saw it. I don't know. I never saw I'm pretty sure Julia Roberts was it from what I remember. So she returned, I guess? That's interesting. interesting I think so. I don't fucking know. No, yeah I never saw it. yeah i never saw it i've only seen I think I've only seen the first one in that franchise.
01:04:41
Speaker
Oh, really? the All three with Clooney and Pitt are fantastic. I love all three of them. The second one's basically like a carbon copy of the first, but the third one, they kind of changed up. I think the third one had like Pacino in it. um But I enjoy those movies a lot. I'm always down for a heist movie or TV show. So bring it, I guess. I just wasn't interested in Ocean's 8 because it seemed weird. Right, yeah. um Tarantino all the time. Tarantino, Tarantino, Tarantino. Watched all of his movies while we were away, all nine of them.
01:05:13
Speaker
um Quentin Tarantino's next project will be an old-fashioned British comedy play. I believe in the ah West End. um He's negotiating with big big Hollywood stars to star in it. And it's coming out in 2027 or late 2026. He has one more movie. He wants to do 10 and retire. he doesn't want to keep coming out with movies is in his old and and retirement age. He wants to end at 10.
01:05:39
Speaker
they've been like discussing, like there's been like three movies that are quote unquote going to be his 10th movie. They've all been shelved. I think one of them was even that star Trek project he wanted to work on at one point. Right.
01:05:49
Speaker
Um, and one leaked, one leaked and then they canceled and then he canceled it after it leaked because the whole script, I think. Yes. yeah Yes. That would happened like last year. Um, yeah And of course we got the ah the Booth movie, the continuation of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Yes, which of course is dumb body. Fincher. The guy that directed Seven.
01:06:09
Speaker
Yeah, Fincher. I can't wait. I can't wait for that. i think it's I think it's based on the, I think Tarantino wrote a book and that's what it's based on Yeah, it is. Yeah. But I can't be positive about you remember a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that there was a Tarantino movie that was turned into a mini series and I couldn't remember what it was. I thought it was once upon a time in Hollywood. It wasn't that it was a hateful eight.
01:06:28
Speaker
Um, there's a mini series on Netflix. It was turned into four episodes. I never watched that, but I know it's a director's cut of that with more footage, lead scenes. Um, we'll talk about, we'll talk more about Tarantino, uh, movies in a couple weeks. The other thing that came out, number one, I get back.
01:06:42
Speaker
Yeah. Yep. The play is called The Poppin' J Cavalier, swashbuckling comedy set in eighteen thirty s Europe. Very strange. But the other thing that came out was Rosanna Arquette, who was in Pulp Fiction. She played the drug dealer who was... Who was the guy who was going to be Marty McFly in Back to the Future? What was his name?
01:07:02
Speaker
That got recast? Fuck, why is it... Eric Eric Stoltz. She was his girlfriend in that movie. Um, and she had a very small part, but she was talking, she was talking about how, um,
01:07:17
Speaker
all the N-words and all the racism in Tarantino movies makes him racist and creepy. And Tarantino responded. um Well, first of all, she said that Tarantino has been given a hall pass and said it's racist and creepy to be doing that. But Tarantino responded, fiery back at her, saying, you didn't have any problem taking the money for the role that you had in my racist movie. So, yeah, pretty basic pretty much what he said. Um...
01:07:41
Speaker
There are a lot of N-words in his movies. Django has the most N-words, I think, of any movie ever in the history of cinema. And they come off so um flawlessly. Like, and there' when Leo says it in that movie, he's like, oh, he sounds like he could be a racist because of how smoothly that came off

Quentin Tarantino's Controversy

01:07:59
Speaker
his tongue. Not only that, but when Channing Tatum says it in um in um The Hateful Eight, it comes very smoothly off of his tongue, too. i don't know if he went to Leo Root in that role or what, but, yeah, it's ah it's definitely thrown around like... And a lot of people, lot of people defend Tarantino for that. Um, I know a lot of people, including like Spike Lee, hate Django Unchained because of that. There's a lot of N-words and a lot of just racial, racial stuff that lot of people don't approve of nowadays, but even 20, 15 years ago when that movie came out, I love Django. It's my favorite Tarantino movie. I know.
01:08:39
Speaker
Um, it's a good movie. I like it. Um, a very hit or miss on Tarantino, and that's like yeah meet you one of my least favorites that I really like. like It's one of my least favorites I really like. Django's a very good movie.
01:08:51
Speaker
I realized that when I watched Tarantino. We'll talk about this a couple weeks, but mention it now. but I realized that too, that I'm very hit or miss on Tarantino as well. and There's a lot of movies. Death Proof, which I never saw. It's the only movie I saw this this new this first for the first time, the one I hadn't seen.
01:09:08
Speaker
the other stuff, the other stuff um there's stuff that he's written that I've never seen. Four Rooms. um i've never You know what movie I've never seen that he wrote? Kiss Kiss Bang Bang? he wrote that He wrote that. I'm not sure, but I do like that movie. like you great movie You know what movie he wrote that he starred in I've never seen?
01:09:28
Speaker
From Dusk Till Dawn. Never saw it. yep it's Okay, you want to know what it is? It's White Sinners. Okay. yeah okay um I love Dusk Till Dawn. That was one of my favorite movies growing up.
01:09:41
Speaker
Perfect timing. youre one of the reasons why i love fitters yeah yeah um it's fucking great. it's really good Yeah, on my on my list of watch movies to watch, of course. um I may get into some, since I've finished my Tarantino watch, I may get into some stuff that he's written. I want to watch Four Rooms. What's the other one? There's a big one that came out. Rooms is awesome. True Romance. That's a great movie, too. True Romance.
01:10:05
Speaker
It's True Romance that I was thinking about. Great fucking movie. um And he wrote, he wrote and he he denounced, he denounced it after it, but he wrote um Fear and Loathing and Lost, no, ah no, ah ah Natural Porn Killers, which I've never seen either. He wrote that, but he denounced the. Oh, really?
01:10:24
Speaker
Yeah, he he reading they ah rewrote his script after that. So he's denounced the movie completely now. Right. He wrote the whole entire story for that movie.

Upcoming Movie Castings

01:10:33
Speaker
um Yeah. ah John Lake Osamo, speaking of 90s, has joined the cast of The Exorcist movie, which just went into production. And also, also um what's her name from The Flash? Sasha Colley joined the cast. hit Huge cast. saw ah You got Scarlett Johansson, Sheetor Ejiofor, J... um uh you got a little kid there laurence fishburne diane lane uh and a whole bunch of people that worked with mike flanagan um way way back in the netflix days you got carl jaguino from the watchman um you got a hamish link letter who was in um the last season of gen v um john lukisano just joined the cast um carl lumley who played um
01:11:20
Speaker
who was in, um, Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Um, so yeah, lot of, uh, lot of, uh, people in this cast and it didn't, like I mentioned, just went into production this week. So, uh, cannot wait for that. Just watch the X, the first Exorcist for the first time this year. So, uh, yeah. And I like Mike, Mike Flanagan. Now I'm a huge fan. Um, got some brand new first pictures of Crystal Lake.
01:11:39
Speaker
Um, this comes out, um, believe this year. Um, and, uh, prequel to the first Friday, the 13th movie when, uh, when Jason's in the summer camp and something happens to him there, it turns him into this monster. So yeah, cannot wait.
01:11:54
Speaker
Um, got the empire magazine came out while we were away with the, uh, with the Grogu and Mandalorian on the cover. exciting exciting time for that movie.
01:12:05
Speaker
I cannot wait to see it. um I like the TV show, but I don't i don't know... i I'm not sure what we're getting into. I guess that's kind of the scary part of it. i mom To me, it it still looks like a TV movie that they're putting on the big screen. Right, that's what I'm afraid That could just be my that could be my thought process, knowing it was a TV show.
01:12:25
Speaker
um Which is funny, cause I'm always like, oh yeah, make a Game of Thrones movie. Yeah. Or, you know something like that. And the producers... We'll see. The producers are talking about how this is going to bridge the gap between what happens and how the First Order comes to be.
01:12:39
Speaker
Kind of interesting to see how that happens, like how the First Order ends up coming becoming and going to rise into the rise from the Resistance, or rise rise from the Rebels. So, yeah, I don't know. We'll have to wait and I'm more excited for the Star Wars movie coming out next year's Starfighter. too. Announced ah video game

Gaming News and Leaks

01:13:00
Speaker
announcements. um The next Xbox going to called Project a Helix. It's a console that will play PC games as well. um And that's pretty much all we know so far. I haven't had an xbox in a brand new Xbox in 15 years.
01:13:15
Speaker
Maybe even longer than that. Xbox 360. Yeah, I had 360 here. my My cousin gave me an X1 or whatever the fuck those were called. yeah Yeah, um I remember that. I hate the name that they started... Yeah. Like, i don't even know what generation... Like, what's what's the current generation? Like, they had, like, the X1s, XSs, Xs... I have no idea. I fucking hate the name.
01:13:35
Speaker
I hate the name they started going with the Xbox after 360. They're talking a lot of... It's the 25th anniversary. They're talking a lot about Xbox right now, and they've been showing posts yeah've been showing pictures of the... Remember the original... Xbox console, the big X-shaped silver console that they there was a pre-owned prototype.
01:13:53
Speaker
That's what they should bring back for the 25th anniversary of the Xbox. I want to see an an Xbox that actually it looks like an Xbox. but yeah yeah um and This is a little bit of spoilers. If you don't want to know what the next Mario game is, sorry, but going tell you. um Super Mario Titans.
01:14:09
Speaker
This all leaked last week. um And next looks like the next console game maybe for the Switch too. um I don't know. ah We got Super Mario with a cape for the first time forever and also Yoshi wearing the cape. And it looks like one of the one of the villains is wearing the cape too. So yeah, who knows? um ah ah Bowser with some sort of a suit. Yeah, I love the console Mario games so I can't wait. um let's get Let's get into some swag.
01:14:38
Speaker
Swag! stuff we all get. Come on, son. You know that's right. Really only one since we've been away, surprisingly, but this is pretty cool. A Silver Surfer comic version. a Hot Toys figure. Articulation. Comes with a whole bunch of stuff. Surfboard and stuff. Looks really cool.
01:14:57
Speaker
Yep. Looks really cool. um like you mentioned aaron pierre has joined the cast of man of tomorrow um as john stewart returning for the role um you can speculate all you want on that but yeah um cannot wait like um it seems like they're going the uh what they've been doing with the mcu spider-man with the with superman just putting a bunch of characters in the movies and i'm okay with it because there are plenty of comic runs where i know you were a little bit hesitant on it when we found out so many characters were going to in superman but I'm like, at that point I'd reading a lot of Superman and there's so many stories that are elevated by the fact that there are extra characters in it and not just Superman. Um, so i'm looking forward to this, but I do want to say on a side note that I do hope at some point we get somebody besides James Gunn doing Superman in this universe. Cause it'd be interesting, but he's got a new composer for that movie and a new, uh, cinematographer. So it's going to look at least different than the, than Superman 25.
01:15:54
Speaker
And I can't wait. I'm in on the DCU. It's going to awesome. Speaking of DCU, Andy Machete is going to be doing Brave and Bold. Have we mentioned the rumers have we re mentioned the rumors of who the Joker in his universe could be? Have we mentioned that on the podcast? Bill Skarsgรฅrd. I saw that floating around this week. he say Wow, that would be interesting because he's been worked with Bill, of course, and It.
01:16:19
Speaker
Yeah, I saw that floating around like two years ago because it just makes sense. Makes sense. It would be perfect. Would Skarsgรฅrd play a clown again?
01:16:29
Speaker
what's scarsgar play a clown again Another iconic clown figure. I mean, he's going in the middle of doing it chapter two or three of the TV series. It welcomed the dairy.
01:16:40
Speaker
That is true. Right. Also money talks. Yeah. Yeah. And he'd be a great relationship. with He obviously has a good relationship with Andy. um He'd be a great joke. Great. Yeah.
01:16:51
Speaker
Yeah. I wonder what version. I don't know. Brave and bull. don't know what kind of version the Joker that could be, but yeah, we'll see. yeah

Hollywood Controversies

01:17:00
Speaker
um Terrence Howard said he was fired from Iron Man 2 after threatening to knock the teeth out of one of the producing partners of Robert Downey Jr.'s wife. yes um why eight why didn't they Why didn't he bring this up 15, 20 years ago when they said he quit over money? like If there was another reason why he didn't continue the role, like yeah all of a sudden this just seems like weird and petty. It comes out 20 years later, kind of weird, yeah. yeah It's kind of strange. Exactly.
01:17:27
Speaker
Delroy Lindo, who was in Sinners, he's been in a bunch of other movies, just got called the N-word by a white guy on the Baptist stage a couple weeks ago. That was creepy yeah and weird. Says that he told Ryan Coogler that he'd like to be in Black Panther 3.
01:17:42
Speaker
Of course, ryan he Ryan Coogler did Sinners, so that makes sense. Yep. I love that guy. He's the actor. He's a good actor. I can't remember what else I've seen him in. I've seen him in Sinners, of course, but I've seen in other stuff. He's... he's He's the Leo meme. Like, every time you see him you hit the Leo meme. Oh, yeah. It's that guy.
01:17:59
Speaker
The Leo meme from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I love that movie, by the way. Not my favorite Tarantino movie. We'll get into that a few weeks. a Brand new poster for Daredevil Born Again Season 2 with Will Mayer Fisk on the front. Comes out just a couple weeks. I'm not sure when recording again, but... ah I know we'll be in the middle of watching season two, maybe. We'll have to wait and see.

Marvel and Superhero Updates

01:18:20
Speaker
Speaking of Marvel, on the Sony side, Spider Noir, we got some character cards of, I believe they're in Spanish, of c CCXP. I think happens just a couple months or next month. We got Silvermane. We got Electro. We got Sandman. And we got, i believe that's supposed to be Tombstone. Or, yeah, Tombstone. Or, um is it Tombstone? Yeah, Tombstone. ah Yeah. ah
01:18:49
Speaker
Cannot wait for that series. Finally in news, Spider-Man Brand New Day. When we come back, we will have a new trailer. It's supposed to release in the next week. Sometime this week. um Cannot wait. This trailer is what two months away three months away from the movie coming out um yeah cannot cannot wait kind of crazy yeah four months away uh cannot wait to see the trailer and finally get an idea what this movie is going to be all about and the characters that there that have been cast in and everything else but Um, next episode, we'll talk about, shrinking paradise. Um, invincible season four comes out on the 18th on, on Tuesday of this week. I'm not sure if you're going to watch that or not, but did want to bring that up on the 20th. The red hot chili peppers documentary comes out on Netflix and a project Hail Mary comes out next week too. Uh, you're, you're not gonna be back. Um,
01:19:41
Speaker
I'll try to see it. um If you do, I'll go to... Vic has to pick up his daughter at the airport on Sunday, so I might do that if I don't go with him. Okay. um Yeah, it depends on when we record next. We could just hold off on that, too, for a week or so. We'll figure out the recording schedule. yep

Podcast Sign-off with Geek Culture Rap
