Eberron Renewed kicks off a new chapter as the party begins their time in Stormreach, a seedy town full of pirates and criminals.  Naturally the only way to begin an adventure is such a place is with a dinner party!  Join us for another episode of political intrigue, daring duels, and Eric awkwardly roleplaying a women who is flirting with Beric.

Lost Episodes Recap

00:00:42
Speaker
Hello and welcome to Eberron Renewed, a 5th edition D&D actual play podcast set in the Eberron campaign setting. I am your dungeon master, Eric. And I'm Philip. Randy. I'm Jeff. And welcome to another episode of Eberron Renewed, where we have a very sad announcement to kick things off.
00:01:02
Speaker
Whoever does all the editing for this stuff was really dumb and didn't back any of the audio files up for unreleased episodes. I've been saying we needed to fire that guy for months. Moron. So yeah, the past couple episodes that we have recorded have been lost to the sands of time. And so we are going to do a quick recap. How much do we pay you to edit these things?
00:01:26
Speaker
Um, way too much. Wait, wait, wait. I thought we were just gonna, like, play again. No. Fine.
00:01:34
Speaker
But I feel better today. We'll feel better while we continue the story. So yes, we're going to do a little recap for you of what happened on those episodes and move forward. It really was only like a session and a half. Yeah. So we're not missing a lot.

Attack on the Party

00:01:51
Speaker
But yeah. So when you last heard us, we were getting on the boat or on the boat to fly to Zendrik. Zendrik. Yeah, that's where we were going. We're going to Zendrik.
00:02:03
Speaker
I don't know why I started this. You're the resident expert on Eberron. That's me. You're fun to listen to. I can spell Eberron now. Can you? Yeah, because they all had to search for the podcast. No, we got on the boat, we were flying along, and we were attacked by an actual high-ranking member of House Lyrander.
00:02:30
Speaker
Uh, nailed it. Okay. And, uh, basically in the course of that fight, which we did win, um, the two most important things that happened. Gerald, our pilot, who we've been, this is the second time we've flown with him, essentially becomes a God. He gets struck by lightning and his, his dragon Mark goes from a little thing on his, like back to covering his entire body. Right. He manifests a sibrous Mark of storm. Yeah. He's like super powerful. Yeah.
00:02:59
Speaker
And you know what the cool thing though is he didn't let go to his head. He was still a super chill dude And then I mean I guess you you want to say what happened to you Yeah, sure Dak Also was struck by lightning at the same time. I was lightning correct. Yeah the same lightning bolt you two are sitting right next to each other And Dex jumped out of the way Yeah double way Dak took it
00:03:25
Speaker
full on and now he has this aberrant dragon mark covering his entire body. But it's pretty cool because whatever he gets hit with
00:03:38
Speaker
He stores the opposite energy of whatever it is. And when he hits somebody, that energy comes out. But if he doesn't hit somebody, then he ends up taking the damage because it has to go somewhere. We could take that part out.
00:03:59
Speaker
You know, you can negate that point. So essentially, every time you hit, you get a bonus attack, which is a X type of damage. But if he misses, it hits him instead. Right. Which was pretty cool. I mean, I was definitely under the weather that day, but I do remember hitting somebody and it was necrotic damage and the description was pretty morbid.

Arrival in Stormreach

00:04:23
Speaker
So now here's a half-orc going around with this crazy dragon mark.
00:04:29
Speaker
But so we win and we take their ship, which was nicer than our ship. That's true. Lightning on the water. Through Vinay Dalarindar off the ship. Yeah. Mm hmm. And Vinay was the captain of the ship, but it was members of the King's sword from Breeland that were attacked. Yeah, that's right. They were chasing us because we're still wanted. So now they're extra mad at us. Right. But we are in a place now with no extra addition. So we ought to be doing OK. Do you want to explain what happened after we landed?
00:04:59
Speaker
Uh, sure. Um, their deck threw up and had to go. We renamed the ship.
00:05:09
Speaker
What do we rename the ship? Did we? Yes, we did borrowed time. Yeah. We're living on borrowed time. See, and we renamed the ship and then, uh, spent a lot of time concocting false identities. Only to discover that one of the storm lords very last site already knew who we were and that we were arriving and what we were running from.
00:05:34
Speaker
Like we spent a stupid amount of time coming up with false identities for him to go, Hey, Barricadex. And I had a great one too. And he took us on a little walk around the town and invited us to a gala at his
00:05:52
Speaker
mansion i guess estate estate okay house in the hills yeah uh while on our walk we also ran into prince orgev and his dragonborn bodyguard arasha and they're also going to the gala and he's there lobbying for land for the kyron refugees because
00:06:15
Speaker
in among the other ways in which King Borenel is acting weird he's no longer being helpful to the Chiron refugees from the day of mourning so and we accepted the invitation to go to the Gala but not to stay at the mansion we decided to stay on our ship until we're certain that Varen won't try to murder us yes
00:06:37
Speaker
So yeah, so the three of us are going to a gala now. And the last thing that happened in the episode was we showed up dressed in our finest finery. And, uh, what remind me of this one, Lord's name.
00:06:52
Speaker
Varen last night? Varen. I thought it was Amadeus that he said, let's get started. And that's

Gala Mingling and Intrigue

00:07:00
Speaker
where the episode ended. So let's pick up. OK. So yes, you all are standing in the large double doorway to the kind of grand hall of Varen's estate. You see a lovely double staircase kind of arching up to a balcony overlooking everything. And there's
00:07:20
Speaker
About you would say 20 to 25 people here all mingling drinks in hand There's some servants walking around passing out fresh drinks things like that and Varen kind of their head act just takes a tray of order Catch me on the next one around
00:07:44
Speaker
Um, so yeah, Varian begins kind of mingling. Um, and are you all going to follow him or are you all just going to take the scene in? He starts to walk into the crowd of people.
00:07:58
Speaker
Um, I actually, cause I don't know anything about this place. Dex doesn't know anything about this place. And all he knows is the person is their host calls himself a storm Lord, which basically means he's the, the biggest con or biggest bad guy among the biggest bad guys. So I'm like really.
00:08:22
Speaker
I'm twitchy, like I'm on alert and I think I'd like to just start rolling perception every once in a while and you tell me if there's something that either is dangerous or that Dex might accidentally perceive as dangerous and need to get clarification on. Is that something I can... Go ahead and give me a roll. Wait, not that one. If you want to roll a D12 you can.
00:08:43
Speaker
I forgot. That's 18. 18. The primary thing that you notice is once Varen kind of made some distance between himself and you, he's talking to a gnome woman who is standing next to a very tall, handsome, olive-skinned man. And Varen keeps gesturing over to you all as he's talking.
00:09:08
Speaker
I think Barak is very comfortable in this situation and begins mingling quite easily. Okay. Having been to a lot of parties where he didn't know anyone and where he didn't really want to be there. Fair enough. The third deck is in this situation what people would typically typically call a wallflower. Okay. Yeah, I think I think that Dex is staying in near ish to Barak. He's keeping line of sight with Barak, but he's like kind of
00:09:39
Speaker
Can we say there are pillars? Of course there's pillars. I'm back to pillar every time and I'm just looking around. Pillars, there's like a balcony around the top to climb up on the chandeliers everywhere. Okay, great, great, great, great, great. Good, good, good, good. Lots of switches on the walls connected to who knows what. All the chandeliers have ropes coming down to within arm's reach. Okay. Well, 15 foot sword, everything's in reach.
00:10:04
Speaker
As you're kind of walking around eyeing people... I take a drink. I keep my gloves on so I don't ruin his nice classware. You spot an older looking dwarf man that is walking about with another dwarf and he kind of makes eyes with you and toasts and
00:10:30
Speaker
It says, my name's, uh, York. I'm on, I'm on a tool. What's you look familiar. I'm on a four. What are you talking about? Um, do I, do I recognize his last name? You recognize the last name? Yeah. Okay. As a storm. Okay. So he's one of the storm ones. Um,
00:10:57
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, Varen already knew who we were, so there's not really any reason for going into a ruse. Yeah, so Barak will execute the proper depth of Val. Execute the person. And I'd say, better throw in at your service, but I'm a bit surprised. You see, I look familiar.
00:11:21
Speaker
Barrick Rowan. I knew, it's not that you look familiar, I recently read a description of you, so that's why the feature seemed a little familiar. What are you doing? Who are you here with? Well, if you read the description of me, where I think you did, then you probably know the answer to that. Well, I mean, at the estate, at the gala. We were invited by Lord Lassite.
00:11:51
Speaker
Last night, you say. Do you say that like Jerry Seinfeld says the last name Newman? Last night. He says, well, this is my cousin, Merrick. And Merrick, introduce yourself. Hi, I'm Merrick. Merrick, I'm Eric. Nice to meet you. Is he a cleric?
00:12:20
Speaker
And your kind of rolls his ice is like, Merritt killed a dragon down in Zendrick recently. Well, that's rather impressive. Thank you. It wasn't that hard. Shut up, Merritt. Well, nice to meet you. Enjoy the party. And you see him like walk away from you, like chastising the other dwarf. Go and give me another perception check.
00:12:49
Speaker
as a one, so I get my passive, right? Okay, well I don't even remember what is it now. My passive is 17.
00:12:59
Speaker
Yeah. Cause it's wisdom plus proficiency. 10 plus your wisdom plus your proficiency is your passive. Yeah. Yeah. So 17. Okay. Um, you, you still skin in the room, kind of your eyes venture back to, um, Varen who's still talking to that dwarf woman and gesturing in your direction. And now we're in different places now. Is he gesturing at me or is he
00:13:21
Speaker
going between me and Barak and Tharak. Yeah, he's gesturing at each of you. Okay, okay. It seems like he's telling a story. Sure. But you see somebody walk up to the olive skin man and look at a painting that's, it's, he's blocking your view but you can kind of see the frame. And the person kind of recoils and seems to walk away with like a headache away from the painting. It's just, it's an odd thing that happened. Tharak. I gotta get a look at that painting.
00:13:50
Speaker
Um, third act, you're hanging out on a wall. Do you have a drink in hand? Oh yeah, I probably would have got a drink when somebody came by. Um, just kind of, just kind of looking around. What kind of drink? Um, Mike's hard lemonade. I'm probably an ale if they're passing around ale in this gala. Um, it's a pirate. Some, some amaran. Okay. Um, give me a perception check.
00:14:28
Speaker
You see a figure where the crowd's kind of moving about. You see a face that is looking at you, but you couldn't get a good look because people were passing in between each of you. And then when you try to look back, you kind of lost him in the crowd. You could tell that it was a man, but that's all you really got from it.
00:14:52
Speaker
Barak, you still mingling? Yeah, I continue to mingle through the crowd. Any, any particular types of people that you're seeking out or you just letting the party happen to you.
00:15:06
Speaker
Yeah, I don't think in this particular place that Barak would know how to identify the genuinely important people and things like that. He obviously would know who's who in Sharn, but even if he recognizes some of the newsworthy names here, he doesn't know the people on site. So I think he's just sort of
00:15:32
Speaker
moving through the crowd, exchanging whatever pleasantries there are with whoever. You're finishing up pleasantries with somebody's nephew's cousin back in Corvair. And you hear a voice from behind you say, so how is it that the son of a general kidnaps the ward of a king?
00:16:00
Speaker
You turn around and leaning up against a pillar is a painfully beautiful woman with raven hair leaning up against the pillar kind of smirking at you. Barak has resistance against painful beauty.

Political Tensions Unveiled

00:16:17
Speaker
Well, that news is somewhat exaggerated, I'm afraid. So it's a decent story.
00:16:31
Speaker
less, uh, less nefarious than it sounds. Hmm. Well, that sounds potentially disappointing. Why don't you go get me a drink and you can tell me your side of it. Uh, why not?
00:16:54
Speaker
Okay, sorry. He's actually very vulnerable. Okay. So Eric goes for a drink. Um, are you going to take a look at the painting? I think what I'm going to do now, the painting is on the far side of Varen and the tall guy and the gnome lady.
00:17:13
Speaker
Yeah, but the tall guy is standing like next to it. So, okay. Um, I don't think it'd be unreasonable for Dex to approach Varen and he invited him here after all. So I do want to get a look at the painting, but the first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to walk up just kind of going up to Varen. I'm going to say, uh,
00:17:35
Speaker
Uh, I don't mean to, I don't mean to interrupt here. Uh, uh, Mr. Lassite. Yes. Uh, is it Lord Lassite? Is that what you were saying? Yeah. Uh, Lord Lassite. I just wanted to say this is a very nice party and I appreciate you, uh, inviting us here. This is really, uh, we're all, we're all having a great time. It seems so far. Oh, well, thank you. Thank you. It's, uh, it's great to hear that from somebody of your stature. Uh, well, I don't know about all that. This is make yourself taller.
00:18:04
Speaker
Which stature? I'm sorry, did you mean this? This is Lord Selchandra, Kiris Selchandra, one of my fellow Storm Lords, and this known woman, Nodzi. Nice to meet you.
00:18:23
Speaker
Nice to meet you as well. And I bow awkwardly. Do you bow? I don't know if you bow, but so I bow kind of thing. Is it insulting to bow to a gnome? Because it's kind of like stooping to talk to them. I didn't kneel. Weren't you adorable? No. I just kind of do a head nod, bowing thing. Nice to meet you, ma'am. This is Antonio Barlona.
00:18:49
Speaker
who is one of my guests for tonight. And he nods at you and, hello, my name is Antonio. Oh, God. Well, I was going to ask him questions, but now I don't want to hear him talk. This is how you say my painting. And that's when I say, oh, yeah, so you're an artist, huh? And I glance over, tickles his face. Give me a wisdom saving throw. What?
00:19:17
Speaker
That is a 9. My head explodes. Should have rolled you. You're my wisdom guy so I bet. See now this is the sign that Jeff is a true D&D player now is he's he's chastising his d20s. Well if they didn't screw up I wouldn't have chastised them.
00:19:37
Speaker
Wait, which one did I roll? Because nothing on here is that low. The blue is what you rolled. Oh, I must have moved it. Okay. Oh, what did this painting do to me? Now you're a were painting. I'm a painting of a bear. Okay. Roll a percentile dice. Oh no. Oh Christ. Random effect.
00:20:08
Speaker
33, you have anaphasia. You can only speak in nonsense for the next 12 hours. Everything you say just comes out as a color. You are all of a sudden compelled like a universal truth in your mind now, is that from your perspective, I must bend the truth, exaggerate or outright lie to impress other people.
00:20:34
Speaker
Well, I mean, that ain't super far from their wheelhouse. But yeah, that is a fundamental truth of who you are now. Forever. Oh, man. Wait, forever. Not forever, but I'll let you know. Sounds like York looked at that painting, too. Do you like my painting?
00:20:57
Speaker
Uh, yeah, that's real nice. You know, I'm a bit of, a bit of a painter myself. Really? Yeah. Yeah. Uh, I had a big gallery showing, uh, in Breland right before, uh, right before we had to, had to leave. So I'd show you some stuff, but you know, I mean, it all sold, everything got sold, you know, all across the continent. I don't even know where some of it went. I just know that it was pretty good for the old coffers. I would love to talk.
00:21:19
Speaker
the craft with you if you have a moment. I always love to hear what inspired fellow artists. Sure, I understand that. Here's the thing. There are a lot of people here that want to talk to me, you know. Kind of a big deal. Yeah, you know, Lord Lass out there is actually not the only person that invited me to this party. So I'm going to do... I'll get back to you. I'm going to do some rounds and have a bunch of conversations. Okay, Theradak, give me another perception check.
00:21:51
Speaker
It's going to be pretty fun. Yeah. What have I done? 16. 16. So you're still kind of scanning the crowd, looking for. Well, third, third axle is he's not the most cultured half work on the planet. Okay. You know, so he's curious about.
00:22:10
Speaker
you know, the kitchen. He likes to cook, loves to cook. Cooking is one of his things. So he's kind of watching where the, you know, where the stuff's coming from. Okay. And he's probably going to slowly try to, he wants to go take a sneak peek at that kitchen, but you know, he's keeping an eye on everybody as he goes. Um, okay. So you get pretty close to the kitchen door.

Culinary Adventures and Reunions

00:22:28
Speaker
Um, and just people are mingling around you. Nobody really of note. And you hear a voice from behind you say, you're going to go in there and show them how it's done.
00:22:41
Speaker
Well, he turns around and looks. It's a familiar voice. You see a older human with a handlebar mustache, weathered skin, gray hair, um, fairly tall, little gaunt, um, looking to say TheraDak.
00:22:59
Speaker
skin me alive and call me in on Darian, what the hell are you doing in Stormreach? And you recognize this as Sam Swiftfoot-More, one of the scouts from your unit during the last war. Sam Swiftfoot-More, huh? You old son of a- Hey, little Sam, huh.
00:23:28
Speaker
fancy seeing you here. What are you doing here? I'm just going to take a little peek into the kitchen. Well, I'm a honored guest of one of the Storm Lords here at the party. I've been working as a guide out into the jungles of Zendrik since the war ended, so this has been my home for a while.
00:23:53
Speaker
So you tell me you're going to go back there and look at the kitchen, but you didn't answer my question. What are you? What are you doing in Stormreach? What are you doing at this party? I mean, I mean, I figured if I was going to find you here, I would have found you already back in the kitchen cooking something. Well, I was invited. Really? Yeah. Oh, OK. Cut to how that drink coming. Yeah, Eric has retrieved.
00:24:23
Speaker
Barak probably knows how to select a drink. So Barak has retrieved whatever the appropriate drink is based on whatever kind of empty cup she had. And brought it back to her. And says, I don't believe we've had the pleasure that you seem to know who I am. I'm Barak Rowan and you are.
00:24:53
Speaker
Oh, my name's Paolo. Paolo. Well, may I ask, how have you heard of my supposed exploits? Well, I can read. You know, the shard inquisitive had quite the tale to weave about Baron Roic and his merry gang of misfits.
00:25:23
Speaker
I thought when we got out of Breland we might get away from everyone who reads that sort of thing. Oh, it's entertainment. Nice to see what the Lords of Breland are squibbling about every now and then. Yes. And Beric would...
00:25:49
Speaker
I don't know. Eric would try to find something distinctive about her to remark on in order to alter the course of the conversation. Is she wearing anything like unusual? I mean, I mean, she has probably one of the nicest, most ornate rapiers hanging from her belt. Perfect. Eric would be sure you don't want to just pull out crisps when you're like, do you know what this is?
00:26:18
Speaker
Barak would gesture to the sword at her hip and say, that's a very fine piece of metalwork you have. Oh, thank you. It's a family heirloom passed down. My great grandfather had it crafted for him. Well, it's a very fine blade. Your grandfather was some manner of adventurer?
00:26:47
Speaker
Well, people where you're from would have a different term for it, but yes, he had a great sense of adventure and a love of gold. Ah, my, uh, my great-grandfather was a, a similar kind of adventurer that sailed out of, sailed out of storm reach. Uh, what was his name? Uh, Taurus, Taurus Rowan. Oh, interesting.
00:27:16
Speaker
Alright, who are you lying to now, Dex? Well, that's my question. Does Dex realize what he just did?
00:27:24
Speaker
Um, he was compelled to make up stuff about, uh, an art show that he knows he didn't do. No, I think it's just like, like I said, it's become kind of a fundamental, like you were compelled to do it, but it wasn't like an external compulsion. It was just like, so I wouldn't realize, okay, I just lied to that guy and I didn't like an auto, my own volition. I should probably not just talk to people right now. No. Okay. So I'm just wondering.
00:27:48
Speaker
Okay. Crazy people don't know they're crazy. Okay. In that case, I think... You just stand on a table and go, I'm a big deal, everybody. You guys, I've got a huge... Although I could. I could do whatever I want. Down there. I can't even be the post critic. No, what do I do? I guess...
00:28:16
Speaker
Here's the thing, I wanted to see the painting, this new compulsion doesn't, it's not like toxoplasmosis, I'm not compelled to go talk to people, I'm still me, right? Yeah.
00:28:30
Speaker
So I'll probably just, I'm just gonna kind of saunter on back over to maybe a different vantage point, different pillar. I see Barak chatting with this lady, and that is equal parts hilarious and suspicious to me. Hilarious because Barak's talking to a girl, and suspicious because why is a girl wanting to talk to Barak? Dude, just hateful. I'm just kidding, just because you're so creepy.
00:29:01
Speaker
And you also see thera deck talking to an old man. Yeah, thera deck's talking to an old man, but thera deck strikes me as the kind of person that would maybe even start a conversation with an old man. Like he's just like, like you're standing here and I'm standing here. Hello, I'm thera deck. So I think the Barric thing is more, I don't want to insert myself into the conversation, but I am getting, I'm hovering around there.
00:29:24
Speaker
Uh, cause I don't want to, I don't want to, Dex doesn't want to mess things up for, for Barrick if it is what it might be. But yeah, so I move over to that quadrant of the room and just kind of scope out the scene again. And if, if people come to talk to me, I'm obviously not going to.
00:29:41
Speaker
turn them away, but I'm not instigating conversations. I said, you guys want to see my big sword? I stole it from a dead guy. That's not a lie. That's just lacking a filter. All right. Sorry. It's 22 feet long there, there. And we slew a dragon. Um, well, maybe that dwarf looked at that painting. I, that's what I'm saying. Yeah. I killed three guys with one swipe of my sword. You know, that's a lie cause Eric won't let me do it.
00:30:09
Speaker
Anyway, as you're skating the room and kind of get to your vantage point, I accidentally get to look at the painting again. Oh man! That's what I should've done. I should've been like, I gotta get another look at that thing.
00:30:23
Speaker
You see a half elf walking through the floor, like people are almost parting as he's kind of stumbling about. It seems as though he's gone a bit too far in the glass. That is not an expression. The bottle? He's gone too far in the glass. I don't know.
00:30:43
Speaker
It's an Eberron saying, just try to keep up, okay? So yeah, he's kind of stumbling about, people are giving him a wide berth, and you see an older, half-elf woman chastising him. Go ahead and give me your perception roll. 20. 20? You hear,
00:31:10
Speaker
some commotion out on the street level, not like fighting or anything, but it just seems like there's, there's a bit more noise. The noise has risen from the city street compared to what it normally is when you've been standing in here. So, um, Theradac. So Sam Swift foot more, they're talking to you. Um, so what, what are your plans while you're, you're in storm reach?
00:31:38
Speaker
I don't really find your fortune. Well, you never know. I was curious about this kitchen, you know, maybe.
00:31:51
Speaker
Don't make me laugh. Sorry, I'm sorry. I had this image in my head a third, I'm not hearing about this kitchen in Breland. I just had to come here to check out Baron Lasside's kitchen. When he gets hooked on something, he's hooked on it. He's like, this is a big place. I've probably never seen a kitchen like this. I got to see this kitchen. He's probably wants to walk into the kitchen.
00:32:15
Speaker
I really liked the idea that someone asked Theradac, what are you doing here? And Theradac's immediate thought is right now at this very moment, the thing I'm doing. Exactly. You understand. I want to go check out this kitchen. You know, I'm always looking to be a better cook and, you know, maybe I could get a job here.
00:32:36
Speaker
Well, hell, Theradak, your venison stew is the best thing this side of throne holds, so I don't know what these chumps can teach you. Thank you, Sam. But if you want to check out the kitchen, hell, let's go check out the kitchen. I need to refill my whiskey anyway. I bet they got some back there. All right, let's go.
00:32:51
Speaker
Um, you all walk through, um, the open doorway into the kitchen and it is just pandemonium back there. It's just, they're shouting, there's running, people are getting these elaborate dishes ready. Um, so I mean, they're, they are moving at a hot clip.
00:33:10
Speaker
but everything looks gorgeous. The smells are enticing. Um, you see a huge leg of lamb just on a silver platter sitting there. Um, already cooked up, ready to go. So yeah, there's, there's a whole lot going on. Yeah. That size are like biggest saucers just taking all this in. Yeah. Um, well, hell, I don't know if I'm going to be able to find any whiskey back here. Um, anybody got any whiskey?
00:33:36
Speaker
and there's no response. But, well, there it at. You want to go get in their way? You think I would be in their way? Well, it looks like they're running around and they know what they're doing. I'm not saying you're not a good cook, but you don't even know what they're cooking. Well, I'd see a big lamb shank right there. Yeah, but it's already cooked. Hell, jump in, see if you can help them. I'm kind of looking for the head cook.
00:34:03
Speaker
Well, I bet it's the guy with the big funny hat right there. And you see a man with a large chef's hat just shouting at people. Not even really doing much cooking, just shouting. There that goes up. Hey, I'm a pretty good cook. Do you need any help in here while I'm here? What are you doing in my kitchen? I cook. Are you one of my cooks? Well, I could be. We are in the middle of dinner service. Why do you think I would hire somebody in the middle of dinner service? Why are you in my kitchen?
00:34:32
Speaker
I like to cook and I've never seen a big kitchen like this and it's pretty impressive. Okay. I hope you're impressed. You don't need any help. Not right now! Okay. I guess, I guess. Do you have any whiskey back here? Oh my god! Get out!
00:34:57
Speaker
Theradak looks over at Sam and shrugs. Sam's just laughing. Not maliciously, just this is classic Theradak. So yeah, he's having a good, good old time. Hey, Barak. So Barak's been making conversation about swords and
00:35:17
Speaker
So what kind, I noticed that you don't want wearing a, a sword on, on your belt, even though it seems as though you are quite knowledgeable about them. Well, uh, to be quite honest, I wasn't entirely sure whether it was appropriate. This is storm reach, darling. Well, it's my first time here. First time under Breland. Um, so I wasn't entirely certain that it would be whether it would be the, uh, the appropriate attire.
00:35:47
Speaker
for such a party. Well, if anything happens, don't worry, I'll protect you. As pleasant as that might be, I'm fairly capable of handling myself. She starts to walk away as she glances over her shoulder and says, I bet you are.
00:36:13
Speaker
successfully avoided telling his side of the story.
00:36:23
Speaker
Any final things you would like to do, Dex? Yeah, sorry. Where are we at? You missed it. She's totally into me. Well, I'm glad I missed Eric being totally into you. So I got a, potentially a guy that looks just drunk and his wife angry at him walking towards me and I heard the noise. A little bit older than wife. Well, I mean. A woman who's older than him, but somebody who is, okay. Someone who knows him well enough to chastise him. And then I heard a bunch of noise outside.
00:36:56
Speaker
Okay, I think, do I have sight on Theodak and Beric? Yes. I'm still on edge. I still don't trust what's happening here. So what I think I do is, give me a word picture. Where are they in relation to me and each other?
00:37:21
Speaker
Um, I imagine you're standing still pretty close to the front doors. You've kind of moved about a bit, but, um, Barrick is to your left and further back near, um, just past the bottom of one of the staircases. Um, the woman that he was talking to is kind of walking in your direction away from him. Theodak and Sam have just exited one of the doors on the very back wall and to the right. Oh, you left. They went into the kitchen. Okay. We're coming out of the kitchen.
00:37:49
Speaker
All right. Um, I'm going to, there was some shouting in the kitchen, right? Yeah. You, you heard somebody scream, get out. Okay. Uh, all right. So I'm going to, uh, walk. Just head to Barrick. And, uh, as I pass, the one was walking away from you as I pass her to say ma'am. And I keep going and I get to you and I say, Hey, listen, I'm still not comfortable here. I don't, Barrick, Barrick blinks and notices that you've walked up.
00:38:12
Speaker
Hey, buddy. Listen, man, I still don't trust what's going on here and things are getting loud and weird outside. Let's grab Tharadak and maybe stick together from this point forward. Is this like with that barmaid back in... Is that what's going on here? Oh, man. There's so many things... What was her name? Bessie. Bessie. There are so many exaggerations that Dex would do right now that I'm not going to.
00:38:43
Speaker
Keep it, keep it PG. Not just PG, just respectful. No, I say, I say, I also do not know what you're talking about. The noises, things are loud. By the way, Bessie told me she loved me. And then I say, can we go get Dak now?
00:39:04
Speaker
Yeah, I suppose so. You know where he is? And I look around, I see him coming out of the kitchen. He's over there with that old guy. All right. We walk over to Dak, and I say the same thing to him, essentially, that I just said to Barrick. OK.
00:39:21
Speaker
So you all are and I turn to the guy this with that can I say I'm a king Your lordship gives you a quizzical look Not so much because you lied but because it was so out of left way way over the top Who are you gentlemen I didn't know you were a king
00:39:47
Speaker
Wait, uh, I'm Derek Rowan. Oh, that's me. By the way, the thing was a joke for the table. We're all aware of that, right? Okay. Sam Moore. And he extends his hand. Derek shakes it. I say, uh, Hey dad, how you doing? My name's Dex. Nice to meet you. What's your name again? Sam Moore. We call him white foot. Swift foot. I say, Sam Moore or what? Am I right? And I punch him in the arm.
00:40:13
Speaker
Swift with a swift foot. That's a cool. That's a cool name. They used to call me lightning foot back where I was I was from so Who called you like? Oh was before it was before we met It was on account of my speed. So why are y'all traveling with a their neck see your cook Hey someone who doesn't read the shot inquisitive. Oh, yeah, no kidding. Oh
00:40:38
Speaker
I say, uh, well, I recently, uh, business. Yeah. Cause it was about to get weird. Pear Deck, he was really hoping that we would simultaneously say something contradictory. Okay. Pleasure. Pear Deck, you've taken to keeping some strange company since you left the army. Well, they're all right. They're, they're, they're good guys. And I do cook.
00:41:05
Speaker
Well, I'm going to get back to my handler, I guess. I don't know. Um, but if you all were going to be traveling out into the jungle, well, I mean, I was invited here by one of the storm lords to prance around and, uh, Lord Omerin.
00:41:27
Speaker
Uh, wait a second. Okay. Do I know that the same? You know that one. Do I know the first name that belongs to it? Okay. Oh, if we don't travel out, I'm telling you with the, here he's good scout. Hang on a second there. Uh, uh, uh, uh, Mr. Moore, uh,
00:41:44
Speaker
Did you say you were invited here to prance around? Well, I mean, the Stormlord... Stormlords do this thing probably once every couple months of having a party, inviting the most interesting people they know to a gala to show off to the other Stormlords and so... Well, they went interesting. They could do... I guess the last act could have done worse than the three of us.
00:42:08
Speaker
Um, but yeah, I mean, I assume dinner service is going to start soon and then they'll formally introduce all of us. So, so we're in a dinner for schmuck situation, except for the reverse. Yeah. Okay. Um, but yeah, this is going to go poorly for last night when I just started lying about shit. Yeah. There it act. Let me know if you're going to head out into the jungle. I'll go with you.
00:42:33
Speaker
All right. Sounds good, gentlemen. We're definitely going to the jungle. There's a jungle. Hey, it's kind of like the woods, Barrick. Are you interested now? So after a few more, any last things you all want to say to each other, fill each other in on? I think we were going to go check out the noise. You did get a headache also from looking at the painting. Also, you kind of like had to
00:43:00
Speaker
brace yourself after looking at it. So that's the one quantifiable thing you took away from that experience. Okay. My head hurts there. Now we put that in the fiction. Um, I, uh, you need a drink.
00:43:15
Speaker
I mean, I currently have one. I've not put one down. No, we didn't actually get a chance to tell Theradak. I said, Theradak, I'm just still antsy about this whole thing. Even though now I know apparently we're just some prize chicken that is getting shown around, but it's getting loud out there.
00:43:32
Speaker
And every time we've ever been anywhere and it started to get loud outside, things have gone not great in the immediate aftermath. So let's just stick together from now on. And can we all be on our guard, please? Barak is still not entirely certain you're not just trying to trick him into moving away from the beautiful women. He's going to do... He's not like refusing. He's going on a persuasion check. 17. Barak is persuaded to do what you want. He's still not entirely convinced that
00:44:02
Speaker
Yeah, they're next. Fine. Let's turn them together. So the seeds of descent have been served. And then I say, and then I say, I say, Barrick, by the way, I don't know if you knew this, but I'm a fantastic wingman. I've met, I've, I've, I've helped many, many, many, many of my friends, uh, meet girls. So if you want some help later, why would you call that a wingman? Sorry. Oarsman, uh, star birdman.
00:44:24
Speaker
I don't understand that metaphor at all. You know, because the boats fly. All the women on the starboard side. Okay, so the door that you're standing near swings open and theredact you recognize the larger than life man with the big silly hat walking out.

Chaos in the Kitchen

00:44:46
Speaker
and Dumbledore yeah um who was the larger than life man with the head the head oh the cook um uh he's not a cook he's a chef my apologies my apologies um and he sees you was like go shoot shoot okay so that's kind of rude you're kind of rude he hasn't been yet yeah give me a minute give me a chance
00:45:10
Speaker
Will you please move away from my kitchen? I mean, is this not part of the party place? Are we not in the party space? I don't like your condensation, you big silly hat. He's got a big kitchen. He's pretty particular about it.
00:45:24
Speaker
I thought you were going to say he's pretty powerful. He's got a big kitchen. Don't mess with that guy. I'm sorry. What was your name? My name is Git away from my kitchen. The third. Yes. And you're employed by... That's a really ironic name for a chef. And you're employed by Lord Varian last night. No. All the stormlords pulled the Mooney together to hire me. I work for myself. So go away.
00:45:53
Speaker
I mean, I don't see any reason for us to continue antagonizing this chef. So I walk away. Um, okay. So are, are you walking away to Barrick or are you going to be saucy? Put your hand on your shoulder just to mess up his clothes a little bit. Sorry, buddy. Barrick walks up and pulls off one of his glasses. My apologies. I'm in a bit of a mood. Holds out his hand.
00:46:18
Speaker
Give me a joy buzzer. A joy buzzer. An advertising joy buzzer. Give me a persuasion check.
00:46:27
Speaker
16. He kind of eyes you and extends his hand out and grabs it. I shake his hand good and firm and pat my other hand on his sleeve and then walk away. Is it an immediate thing or over time will it appear? It would take a little bit. Okay, so very good, saucy. So as you all walk away you hear him from behind you begin speaking to the entire hall
00:46:51
Speaker
Ladies and gentlemen, dinner will be served in the dining room in three minutes. Put that on your sleeve. Please make your way to the dining room through the doorway that I'm standing next to. Thank you. You just told us to leave. Thank you. And he walks back into the kitchen.
00:47:14
Speaker
I guess, would it be bad for us to be the first one to the dining room? Or we go with our... Weren't we going to investigate something happening outside? Did we say we were going to go outside or just to be wary? No, I wasn't actually sure. All I said was, let's just be... I just wanted to gather our forces together. We can go check outside or we can come up for whatever. Let me kind of roll up and check to see if things are still escalating outside.
00:47:42
Speaker
but who knows because i got a one i didn't okay third act you can roll also sure i have a 21 16 i've rolled two ones today as you look uh i mean you're pretty far away from the front windows but as you both of you look that way um
00:48:06
Speaker
Well, and your passive, someone has thrown through one of them. Oh yeah. 17 passive. You see, um, light kind of washing in. Um, and you in particular noticed the seams of the doors, which had been shut once all the expected guests arrived. Um, there's light coming through the seams in the door and then the doors swing open.
00:48:30
Speaker
I just instigated a thing by checking perception.

The White Raven's Heist

00:48:33
Speaker
Okay. Um, and you see a man surrounded by, uh, four other people, the four people with him are wearing green tabards with a, um, hand on the chest. And the man that threw the door open is wearing white pants and elaborate white coat and a exaggerated Ravens mask.
00:48:59
Speaker
My opposite. And he says, why hello there. What a lovely party. Shame we weren't invited.
00:49:11
Speaker
Oh no, it's Maleficent. I was going to go Phantom of the Opera. Not sure. Is Varen near us or Prince Orgev, either of them near us, where you can be like, what's going on? Varen is near enough to where a couple of steps would take you there. Orgev was pretty close to the front of the room, so there's some distance between you two. I immediately take the step towards Varen 92 and I say, all right, what is happening here? A robbery.
00:49:40
Speaker
So matter of fact. All right. I know. Okay. And yeah, because he said that I say it's the sort of thing we need to try to stop. We're just going to let this happen. Do I need to get, are we ready to tussle? What's up? Um, I mean the, the white Raven is one of the most famous criminals in storm reach and he, he's never been bested in a duel. So, um, what about three on one? We're pretty good at beating the crap out of people three on one.
00:50:06
Speaker
Um, we meet an angel to death. And you hear the white raven saying, well, as recompense for not inviting any of the members of the Church of the Blood of Vol, we will gladly take a tithe to the church. So please relieve yourselves of your earthly burdens into the bags one of my associates is holding. Jewels, gold coins, precious metals. All right, there's a gem in my ribbon weave and I'm not giving it up, so let's get ready to do this.
00:50:37
Speaker
And you see people pulling off necklaces, amulets, things like that, and tossing them in the bags as these guys walk around. Are you going to step in or just wait until? I'm going to wait until the bag gets to me. Who's place is this we're in? Varens. It is Varens, and that's the guy that we're close to. Yep. Okay, so there that's going to walk up to Varen and say, do you mind if we try to stop this? This is your place. Well, I would love it if you didn't break anything, but give me a perception check.
00:51:09
Speaker
23 you as you're watching the scene unfold you see the Raven head woman standing across the room from you and she has kind of has both hands resting on the hilt of her rape you're giving you a so you're just gonna stand there look well and barracks thinking with his
00:51:32
Speaker
All right. Uh, is it as one of them to me yet with the bag? Um, they're still about there. I mean, they're, they're going around the circle of people while we're near the back. So there's still probably about 20 feet from you. Eric is 25. He ran away from seminary and he's lived in a town with like eight people in it. Most of his adult life. I'm not saying don't do this. I'm saying how is this going to, I just interested to see how this plays out. Uh, no, I think I am going to wait until, until they get to me.
00:52:01
Speaker
Me too. You, Barrick? Barrick looks at Dex and says, you want to have some fun? And Dex says, I see what you're trying to do. Follow my lead. You'll impress the girl. He's lying. Don't forget. He didn't know that.
00:52:24
Speaker
Barak reaches out and touches you and you see just for a moment sort of shadow flows out of him around you and then you look down and you can't see your hands anymore. You're invisible.
00:52:42
Speaker
And Faradak gets his battle axe. And so's Barak. Barak definitely didn't fall on my lead, but okay. Is Dak? No, I can only do two people and I figure that you and I are probably most... ...gained the most advantage from that. Sure, okay. So my weapon... Oh, I don't need a weapon, I got bear claws. And then as a bonus action, I place my Hexblade's curse on the White Raven.
00:53:08
Speaker
okay in that case i'm gonna i mean if i'm invisible now i'm okay and this is really like as he attempts as he does this like as they're disappearing barrick looks over locks eyes with the woman and executes the worst least smooth wink he blinks one eye closes harder than the other
00:53:30
Speaker
Okay, so let's go and roll initiative. Wait, if we're invisible and they don't expect this, do we not get one surprise? You all still have, we need to act in initiative order, so I'll let you have a round of surprise. Well, let's see who goes first. Natural 20, baby. 21. Who's going first? 12. 30.
00:53:55
Speaker
Okay, so he said Blood of Vol, and they have this livery on. Is there a role to know this, or is this well enough? Philip knows what's going on. You would recognize an emerald claw sigil, when you saw one. Due to Ural's backgrounds, also, you would recognize the emerald claw. Okay, Jeff doesn't. So these are a militant religious organization that are fanatical members of the Blood of Vol, which is another religion that's popular in Karnath.
00:54:23
Speaker
It's all about like, it sounds grosser than it is as far as what the church is about. It's most like there's no power. There's power in your blood. Gotcha. All right. Here's what I want to do. I want to roll both claw attacks at once and then tell you what happens. See which one hits and which one doesn't. I'm writing something down so you know, I'm not adjusting what I want to do. All right. So the first one.
00:54:51
Speaker
is a 16, and the second one is a crit. Okay, so with the first one, the 16, my left arm,
00:55:03
Speaker
I claw at the bag, rip a big gash right down the center of it, up under the bottom. Okay. So that the contents spill out just and everybody turns and looks because I'm invisible and the bag just ripped. Well, you technically have advantage on both of those roles. So if you want to roll a second one for your first attack, just on the off chance that you double crit. Well, I'm attacking it back. Okay. And I want to do that. I like that narrative. Okay. You will appear as soon as you attack the guy.
00:55:28
Speaker
Which would be really terrifying. As soon as I attack the guy. So the bag opens up. And then I crit on the guy. Yep. So roll damage. Roll your percentile and then we'll know how much damage you're doing. 95. Oh man. I should have gone for the raven.
00:55:52
Speaker
So you slash the bag and then with your other, your right hand, is that the one that's left? With your right hand, you just, your claws rake both of his eyes as you permanently blind him. It's triple damage and the next hit landed on this foe is an automatic crit.
00:56:16
Speaker
I'm really pretty sure that the triple damage might take care of it, but we'll see. I just have this great image of like suddenly his face just tears open and then the big, the bear appears in front of him. So he'll never know what just happened. Yeah. But what everybody else saw is the bag. They didn't see the bag. The bags were open. It was a loud clatter. Everybody turned to look and I waited until we had some eyes on it.
00:56:43
Speaker
And I take his face off. And then I immediately appear standing bear sized. Well, no, you're just raging. I'm raging. No, I'm not even raging. Oh, I'm just, I'm just, I'm hybrid. Oh, but I've, I've let it, I've let it change me. Right. This time I'm not hiding it. So I'm a little larger, a little sinewier claws, hair, and let me roll the damage. And then I'll say the words. So it's triple sneak attack.
00:57:10
Speaker
I know. 2d8. That's 14. That's 34 plus 5. So 39 43 points of damage. Are you not
00:57:34
Speaker
I went four and one. So 43 points of damage for him. That would put me on the floor. It would almost get me. Not him. It's close, but yeah. He just starts screaming as he grabs the front of his face, his blood kind of pours down his cheeks and he's flailing about. And I say,
00:57:59
Speaker
Y'all can leave. Someone goes, who brought a bear? Yeah. Yeah, I thought you were going to say, don't poke the bear. And I say, rawr. No, actually, I say, that's one. I don't want to say I'm not the only invisible person. I want to allude to the fact that I'll say, well, you can exaggerate. Oh, that's right. I say,
00:58:29
Speaker
Would you believe five Boy Scouts? I say, uh, there, there are seven more people just like me hiding right now in this room. Seven more invisible bears. You can go or you can meet them. That's what I say. Hmm. Okay. So you're, we're still in your surprise round. So Theradak. Good to surprise him too. Yeah. Oh boy.
00:58:57
Speaker
Um, there's a guy that's not quite as surprising. I bet. Do I see where barracks heading? No, he's invisible. You have a really high insight, right? Yeah. Don't you? I thought you did too. Okay. Well, nevermind. Um,
00:59:16
Speaker
So you can see the guy that Dex just attacked. There's another guy about, uh, I'm going to go to the closest guy. Um, pick your poison between the guy that, um, Dex just attacked or another guy that's equal distance. The other guy. Okay. Good. Good call. The other guy. I think that other one's under control. Nasty up there. All right. So I'm going to go up to him and
00:59:43
Speaker
I'm gonna take my first attack and swing at him. Okay, roll a percentile. 90, oh my god. We're gonna pay for this. No, no, it's nine. Oh, it's nine, okay. Nine. We're gonna pay for this.
01:00:12
Speaker
Somewhere we're gonna pay for this Okay, go ahead and resolve your it's double damage and then you get an immediate attack again with disadvantage
01:00:29
Speaker
28 damage. Okay. And then attack again. Yep. You know what I just thought about and it's too late now. I, I may have been doing this wrong. When I did triple damage, I just, I rolled the dice three times and then added five once. Okay. That is right. Okay. That's right. 13, 13. That's a miss. No, I'm sorry. 16, 16. That's a hit. Man, I need to work on adding 10 more damage. Okay.
01:00:56
Speaker
All right. Then on my second attack, I'm going to make it a faint and it's going to give me advantage. He's just faints. 14 of that 12. Gosh, that's a miss. All right. Okay. Barrick. All right. Barrick is, Barrick is going straight for the white Raven. Okay.
01:01:23
Speaker
Oh my gosh. Dex is preparing to go to the White Raven as well. Of course, out here you can use whatever dark magic you want, but I don't like the angel fight. Yup. Okay, go ahead and make your one. As I go towards him, since I have a... I'm gonna use a bonus action to also put Hex on him. Okay. Does he double Hex'd? No, he's got my Hex blades cursed and then I have a spell called Hex, so it's two different things.
01:01:51
Speaker
Which is cool. Yeah. And he has disadvantage on his dexterity. Okay. So then I charge him. 26.
01:02:14
Speaker
That's a hit. So as I rush towards him, I summon Cursebringer and then just slash at him and become visible as I do. So that's 23 damage. 23? Okay. Some of which is necrotic if that matters. Does it matter here? No. Okay. And then I will make my second attack.
01:02:43
Speaker
Uh, that one's just 15. That's a mess. Okay. Surprise round over. Yes. Back, back to Dex. Yep. All right. I think I'm going to go and finish off old, old blind guy here. Take him out. Still screaming. Take him out. Yeah, I know. I have sensitive ears now. Well, how did that just happen? My D4 just popped up out of nowhere.
01:03:11
Speaker
Anyway, that's a 14 miss. Okay. Um, now you have advantage though, cause he's blind. Oh, right. That's an 18. Oh, sorry. So that's a 20, which makes it on that credit, right? Yep. Okay. So go ahead and roll on the credit table. 86.
01:03:32
Speaker
I could tell you all the other modifiers, but it's double damage. So go ahead and roll that and then if he's still alive I'll tell you what you do to him. Okay. Poor dude. I mean, not really. Double damage? Yep.
01:03:48
Speaker
I'm rolling lights out there. So it's 37. 37? So the way I envision it based on the crit that you rolled, it's titled and stay down. So you just use one of your claws to sweep the back of his knee. And as he gets swept off his feet, you just shove your, not through his chest, but slam him down on the ground and his head cracks on the floor and he just lays there.
01:04:15
Speaker
He's at zero. He's up. Yeah. Okay, good. And I think there is another guy probably about 15 feet away from you. Okay. I mean, I don't get another attack. No. But I was thinking about... I'm just afraid of what the Raven's gonna do to Beric. Not in one turn.
01:04:41
Speaker
Okay. Where, how, how many, how many, there were four ones down. Back there. Dax engaging with one. So there are two unopposed henchmen and the Raven and they're all within one move with me. Right. I mean, is it 30 feet? Yeah. Okay. I think what I want to do is not forget it. I'm good. I'm just going to be where I'm at. Okay. Until the next turn. Um, okay. Third act. You got a guy in front of you. All right.
01:05:16
Speaker
22 yeah that's 15 damage okay on that attack and now they're ever now with barracks in range if you want yes so okay so yeah there that's gonna basically yell it barrack to take this jerk down hit him wow hit him
01:05:46
Speaker
Of course. We killed one colored based bird before. Do it again. At this point, Beric said, seriously, what is with the bird masks? Nineteen. Nineteen. That is a hit. Add that to your damage. I'll let you roll it. You pause and I was really concerned. Nineteen is not hitting. We're going to have problems. That's nineteen.
01:06:16
Speaker
Okay.
01:06:19
Speaker
Okay, so the White Raven has his rapier out, and kind of, you can see his mouth underneath the

Duel with the White Raven

01:06:29
Speaker
mask. Is it nice? What? Is it nice? Yes, it is very nice. Only rivaled by Palpatine's. And he kind of smirks at you and says, oh dear boy, when you're fighting, you don't just hack and slash and take any hit that you can get. Be precise.
01:06:50
Speaker
That's a crit. He has a crit range. Double damage, no 1s or 2s on damage dice. I mean, no, it's a d4. Actually, it does zero damage. I think it's a d2, actually. It's pretty useful. Well... Oh, no 1s or 2s, okay.
01:07:16
Speaker
27 points of damage. And he just, like, flicks right underneath your armpit and just goes straight through. Just straight through Beric's shoulder. Well, no, he just, he flicked and got that, that artery right there. Just blood. Finesse. All right, Beric, your turn. And he just kind of brings his rapier up and smiles at you.
01:07:42
Speaker
Barak assumes a pretty proper sword form, hindered somewhat by the significant pain in his arm.
01:08:00
Speaker
Because of the stab wound? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, no, it's just, you know, he pulled something earlier today. The stab wound, that's really nothing. I'm sorry. It's an old football injury. It causes me to bleed terribly sometimes. I hit the football injury, it flares up whenever I'm stabbed. Constitution saving throw. Oh my. Oh my. Hey, natural 20. Okay. So that's a 24. You're good.
01:08:33
Speaker
22 okay for some reason I have
01:08:41
Speaker
Well, I'm glad I'm, I'm glad I spoke to you there. So, Barak says, yes, but it's more understanding that a proper duel involved introductions and proper names. So, Barak Rowan and your The White Raven, right? Yes. Indeed. Very good. I think I met a friend of yours, The Red Owl, right? Very original, my friend.
01:09:07
Speaker
Bear just hates birds, I think. Bear really doesn't like being talked down to by people in bird masks. It's got some bad experiences, man. 26. That's a hit. That is 22 damage. 22? Yep. And attack him again. 17? Yes, that's a hit. That's 19 more damage. 19, okay.
01:09:40
Speaker
All right, the Emerald Claw guys are gonna go. So the two remaining ones that have not been brutalized, assaulted yet, are going to run up to Dex with their swords. Both? Yes. You seem like the greatest threat. They're a giant half-bear that just disinfaced one of their friends. I guess they have a good point. Okay, so first one. Mm-hmm. 15. With 23. That's it.
01:10:09
Speaker
Um, that's going to be four damage. Okay. And then the second one's going to hit or swing at you. First attack is 14. Miss. Second one is 18. Uh, Ty goes to the runner, right? Yeah, that's it. Four more damage. Okay. Okay. It is now back around the decks. Okay. Man, I was ready to get over there to the Raven and help you out. Um,
01:10:40
Speaker
They're a guy in front of me, isn't he gonna take a swing or? Oh yeah, thank you. You're welcome. 12, 20, oh, that's a crit, but he's not named, so 24. I regret, I brought that. By the way, how many? Six damage. Six damage? They each get two attacks. Oh, okay. I wasn't paying attention, I wasn't gonna repost, but that's okay. How much six damage?
01:11:09
Speaker
Okay, so now it's Dex. Yes. Okay. Um, the one on the right. Okay. His name is Brad. Well, don't name him because I'm gonna say crit. That's a 19. Hit. 9, 13, 16 points of damage with the first claw. Okay. And the second claw. It took me two crits to take one of these guys down. So I'm gonna be here for a minute.
01:11:39
Speaker
Second claw is a 24, 23. Yes, that's it. And sneak attacks once per turn. So I use it on the first guy. I can't use it on this. Yeah, that's fair. Five more. Okay. It is now third extra. They're working on that same guy. 20. Hit.
01:12:11
Speaker
I'm going to do both attacks and then tell you the damage. No, that's fine. So that's going to be 13 damage. You just cut into him with your axe as his tabards soaked with blood and he drops to his knees and falls face down on the ground.
01:12:33
Speaker
should have listened to Dex and then he's going to attempt to move into a flanking position with
01:12:45
Speaker
Okay. Okay. Okay. Um, okay.
01:13:10
Speaker
So now the white raven sees you move around behind him and he looks at Berican. Well, seems like I'm at a disadvantage here. You're running out of allies. Yes, quite right. Well, know what they say when you can't beat him and he gestures hard to the ground. All of you give me a constitution saving throw.
01:13:43
Speaker
22. 7. 16. 16. You two are blinded for the next round. Faridak, you are going to have the chance to make an opportunity attack as the White Raven tries to make a beeline out of there. All right, I'm gonna use a trip attack. Okay, nice move. That's 16. That's a hit.
01:14:17
Speaker
He needs to make a DC 16 strength saving through where he's knocked down. That's a 19 man. Okay. 16 damage. Okay. Uh, second attack. No. Okay. So, um,
01:14:43
Speaker
Now it is Barrack's turn. You're blind. So you can make a swing if you want. We don't know that he's not there. I was thinking about, you know, I'm thinking in that situation that probably would have been, you know, he's running. Well, I assume I can hear him run if you like, especially because he runs like this. I assume that if he bolted away from me, I probably hear his footsteps go. Yeah.
01:15:10
Speaker
Yeah, I don't have that thing where I can just teleport directly to my hex target yet. Yeah, I mean,
01:15:19
Speaker
Barak wants to take this guy down but Barak also knows he's in a room full of people who are not this guy and running around blindly swinging your sword is probably counter indicated. So instead he will grab the the amulet around his his neck and cast cure wounds into himself. Okay. It is now
01:15:45
Speaker
those two guys are going to try to run from you. So you can make an opportunity attack against one of them. Okay. Um, in this case, I'm going to also try a trip attack with my rapier, with my ribbon. Okay. So that is a 22.
01:16:06
Speaker
Yep. And I think it just trips, right? That was the mechanic of that. So he's down. Do I store all damage? No, that was the thing is that that's right. You just get the effect of knocking them down. Okay, so he's on the ground. Okay. Wait, shoot. I'm blind. Do I have to do it again? Oh, yeah. Disadvantaged.
01:16:24
Speaker
That's 21. Okay. Against all odds. I mean, it's 15 feet and he's right next to me. Yeah. I should have gotten one of them. I should have gotten both of them, but you don't let me. The other guy takes off out of the room. And yeah, so that is it for combat. This guy has no interest in fighting anymore. His weapons are on the ground. He's just, so is my blindness lifted? Yes. Okay.
01:16:54
Speaker
And everybody, as soon as the dust settles, because they were all blinded too, as soon as their sight comes back, they just look at the three of you standing in the middle of this circle of people and they just erupt in cheers. And all their stuff is there. They've dropped it on the ground and we've got, I say Lord Last Sight, I don't know how things go around here, but
01:17:18
Speaker
If you take this fell into custody or whatever it is you do with people that try to cross you, he's here on the ground. Oh, um, Lord Seljandra will take him. She'll stick him in the red ring. So what's a red ring? Oh, it's gladiatorial fights that we have here in storm reach. You know, I used to be a gladiator.
01:17:38
Speaker
Well, you should try your hand. There's good money to be made. Well, you know, I got plenty of that already. I bet on you any time. I appreciate that. I do. I think I may have proved my mettle a bit here today. Well, I could sign you up if you want with a red ring. When I killed those three guys a minute ago, you were blind. You missed it. Bear takes a knee. I don't want to. My gladiator days are behind me. Well, it's not for everyone.
01:18:05
Speaker
Right, but just that's all I just I do want to drive the point home that when I did do it. I was very good a Third x looking at the items on the ground. Does he see anything bright and shiny and smooth? You see quite a few bright shiny Well, he's gonna go and find a pretty green one and just pick it up
01:18:28
Speaker
And just start looking at it like he's admiring this smooth. Okay. No, he's just admiring. He's not moving towards his back. No, he's not putting it anywhere. He's just admiring this beautifully crafted. I do a real quick perception check to see if there are any gyms that match the description of what Graham said we need to be on the lookout for if we wanted to get
01:18:51
Speaker
Okay. It's a ruby with silvery light in it. Right, but the silvery light is cast into it from the silver flame. It's just, it's the... No, that was also an indicator of it. Okay. Residual silver light. Well, I'm just gonna do a real quick... Two of them real quick. I rolled a one on it, so... Okay. Whose stone is this? Can I take a quick 10 minutes? Just keep rolling till I get it out.
01:19:20
Speaker
You see a surly, older-looking dwarf walking up and saying, that's mine.

Mysterious Encounter with Pirate Boots

01:19:30
Speaker
It's very beautiful. Thank you. That's why I like it. What about this one down here? And this stone? And this stone?
01:19:45
Speaker
As you're taking a knee, Barrick, and kind of collecting yourself, you see a pair of legs walk up and stand next to you. And you go, ah! Just the legs. And you instantly know who it is, and you hear voices. So she's got giant pirate boots. And you hear, you can see a pair of legs walk towards you, and then you hear, hey man, you all right? Oh, god. Surprise. Barrick stabs you in the foot.
01:20:12
Speaker
I'm surprised I can look like anybody. I need to set some ground rules. I won't despair you. You won't impersonate. You won't cry. You won't cry in game, Beric. We're getting there. I'm getting punchy here.
01:20:36
Speaker
um so you you hear her say well you know fighting style is impressive if not a little erratic but i like it uh barrick lets the sword dissolve and pushes himself back up and uh makes an attempt to stand up straight without wincing that sword is an interesting surprise as well it is unsuccessful barrick says barrick
01:21:04
Speaker
feels really proud of himself for saying, it's a family heirloom.

Collectible Conversations: Hot Wheels and Baseball Cards

01:22:45
Speaker
Hello, test, test. Oh, man. Okay. Shut up, Jeff. This isn't your show.
01:22:55
Speaker
Oh, I might have to do a text or two during this, just bare warning. It's okay, I do it every time. If you all could turn in your phones, please. Well, you guys have fun playing. I do need to turn my ringer off, though. I gotta...
01:23:09
Speaker
I'm working on a matchbox deal. So you got a hot wheel deal coming up? It's a, well, matchbox. So yeah. Do you do both or was I just incorrect? I mostly do old red line hot wheels, but I do old matchbox as well. If it comes across my path. What is, okay. Like what, what's the holy grail of old hot wheels and how much is it worth?
01:23:31
Speaker
there's there are several okay prototypes early pieces I mean they can be worth six grand Jesus what about one that actually like went into mass production um probably thousand
01:23:47
Speaker
And it's typically going to be a pink color because boys collected Hot Wheels, but then Hot Wheels discovered, hey, you know, there are some girls playing with these, so let's make some pinks. So they didn't make nearly as many pinks. Right. Because, you know, not that many girls. Right. So the pinks are difficult in some of the cars.
01:24:07
Speaker
Oh, gendered toys. So now you've got all these grown men who would never touch us. I'm on the pay card. I gotta have the pay card. I love their logic of girls are playing with our current line, so let's change it to make it more accessible to girls. I've got a box full of old, like some were mine, some were my dad's. I need to just consign them to you. You can see it's anyone worth anything. Remember when I brought you like four binders of baseball cards and you looked through all of them and then just handed them back to me and shook your head?
01:24:38
Speaker
Yeah. Mass produced. The only baseball card ever sold for anything was I had a Ben McDonald rookie card that was misprinted. It had the Orioles logo instead of the rookie logo. That's like like 25 bucks. And it was like two seasons later. It's one of those things that it's only going to go down because Ben McDonald, he gives a ****. Exactly.
