Introduction to Queen's Ring Podcast

00:00:00
Speaker
Welcome to Queen's Ring podcast, where we celebrate the past, the present, and the future of professional wrestling. We're your hosts, Charity and Carrie, your go-to duo, and on today's episode, we're diving into NXT. Yeah, we're gonna be talking about the lovely ladies of NXT. But before we get into that, Charity, Charity, Charity. As you all know, season two dropped last week.
00:00:30
Speaker
Go listen if you haven't, if you have already, thank you, listen and stream it again.

Challenges with Former Podcast Host

00:00:35
Speaker
Um, but since we took a break and kind of took a pause, we essentially branded everything, find a new host for our podcast, something that kind of fit us better than podcasts. If we were having issues with podcast, we would record, it would say it saves and then we can't open it to edit the episode. So we changed hosts and in doing so.
00:00:59
Speaker
season one has been erased yeah which i'm not too sad about but like we worked hard on season one yeah um and i told you literally last episode to go listen to previous episodes well guess what suckers gave yeah i would say i think we had almost 40 episodes i think we were at 38 if i'm not mistaken we were literally putting out episodes. So I mean, which, you know, almost 40. So let's see where we get to this year. You know what I'm saying? yeah You never know. Maybe we feel like dropping two episodes in one week. You don't know. Don't tell us what to do. But yeah, so we lost those episodes, unfortunately. So yeah well I love life. But yeah, we're not going to let it
00:01:57
Speaker
hold us, we're gonna keep pushing, we're gonna keep moving on, we're gonna keep moving forward. But that is what has happened to us recently, unfortunately, in the last week. So that's our update.

Privacy Concerns for Wrestlers

00:02:11
Speaker
yeah So we do have a headline to discuss, which we would be doing a headline to discuss every episode. So this week is like really the safety of the wrestlers outside of the ring.
00:02:27
Speaker
Cause like, privacy is very important. And if you don't know what we're talking about, with her mom, Oscar, and her encounters with like scary fans and like fearing for her life and just feeling like she's in danger, which she said Triple H and the WWE has helped her like feel more safe and just have people caring for her. Yeah. I mean,
00:02:54
Speaker
clearly not the first time or the last time um didn't like someone break in was it Paige's home or some wrestlers home they built into their home um I believe ah Alexa Bliss has had an encounter with like a like a serious encounter as well I want to be very clear when I say this you are not a fan if you do shit like that yeah you're not a fan respect him respect like yeah and I hate when people say about celebrities in general oh that's your job no Yeah. no the fuck it's not pardon of my afreche but no it it's not their job their job is to go make that movie yeah their job is not to be your little play thing and do what you want them to do and all of that stuff. So if you don't, if you wouldn't want someone coming up to you when you just got off of a 10 hour flight or any of that, and it's like, take a picture with me, sign 10 of these photos, which clearly you're selling. Like, why do you need 10 of these? Like, blah, blah, blah, blah, like all up in your face at three in the morning. That's crazy work. And then to like make someone feel so unsafe that they have to take to social media to state,
00:04:02
Speaker
yeah that they are scared for their lives sir it's crazy swivel swivel into space because you are not one please but yeah just respect people's privacy like just because that's they're in the limelight doesn't mean you need to know the shape of their pinky toenail okay so relax like no for real like every single detail being just all up in their business. Finding out where they live, but all that stuff. Like what is wrong with y'all? Get a life. So let's dive into today's episode after getting that off our chests. To recap, we were talking about the women's NXT division.

Evolution of NXT Women's Division

00:04:50
Speaker
Before we do that, let's kind of talk about how the NXT women's division became a focal point in the early 2010s. Which we kind of spoke to, you know, last episode we spoke about the Divas era and it's just kind of like leading the end of the Divas era, getting into how NXT really got the limelight around that time.
00:05:11
Speaker
ah so the NXT that you all know and love today was not always that way. So NXT started off as an elimination show where rookies would be mentored by top WWE stars like The Miz and Italia and all of that. They would do like random competitions that really didn't have anything to do with wrestling and then at the end there would be one winner and they would be the ones who would get um contracted so that's how it started which and yeah rest so like yeah how you how you gonna determine just because off of that that they will be successful
00:05:53
Speaker
and the ain't um Yeah, i don know but this would later evolve into the NXT of today, you know in 2012 they rebranded its developmental developmental System formerly FCW into NXT. So this is shift gave women on the roster a way to showcase their actual wrestling abilities and performance skills in a more meaningful way than whatever they were doing over there. Yeah, and it's also right that talking about expressing their wrestling abilities, we talked about the four course women and the importance they have and the success. name What was that?
00:06:41
Speaker
na maybe
00:06:47
Speaker
So the four horsewomen, if you didn't know, is Charlotte Flair, Becky Lampe, Sasha Banks, and Bailey. So they were the star of transforming the women's wrestling. They broke barriers and paved that way for the NXT women that we have today. So their success not only brought unmatched attention to the women's division, but also showcase their athleticism, telling stories in their presence that have long been undervalued in women's sports entertainment.
00:07:19
Speaker
They headlined major events like WrestleMania and had the first ever Women Tell in the Cell match, proving that women could be just as captivating and skilled as the male counterparts. Their accomplishments inspired the new generation of wrestlers, empowering the young girls and women around the world to chase the dreams in sports, entertainment, and beyond that.
00:07:41
Speaker
And through NXT's rise and success, it has definitely become more of a third brand for the WWE rather than just a developmental location for

NXT as WWE's Third Brand

00:07:53
Speaker
them. NXT airs live on television, travels cost across the country, and even has its own PLEs. So it's definitely now considered the third brand. Definitely has grown.
00:08:04
Speaker
And I don't know, sometimes they PLEs be hitting a little better than the Megan Ross though, okay? Now don't say, but in the community where it's at sometimes. So, as we usually do, we're gonna just discuss a few talents from NXT. I'm just briefly speaking about them. Let's start with Kalani Jordan. She's definitely a rising star on the NXT brand. Kalani impresses audiences with her in-ring ability and her charisma, with her unique combination of technical and high-flying moves. Kalani's rise as a main roster champion has already been seen and steady.
00:08:47
Speaker
I could definitely see her on the main roster. Oh, she's definitely going on the roster. She is a former and the inaugural NXT Women's North America champion, and her career may be just blossoming, but yeah, there's definitely a bright future for her. Like, she's just the inning. Yeah, and I like Kalani, so. We'll see here on the main roster.
00:09:09
Speaker
In wheel, my first person is Lola Vice. So she actually made her debut in 2023 and quickly grabbed the attention of the audience, bringing in the Latina heat. She's confident and fierce. So she was willing to take on whatever challenge came her way. She didn't care how big they were, how small they were. So her in-ring style is like, she was an MMA. So it was it' kind of similar to m MMA style type things.
00:09:38
Speaker
so she has the strong strikes and like those powerful kicks so right now she's ah supposed to be a heel and everybody loves her so yeah not all heels are hated so she had actually had like memorable fields she had a few with Carmen Petrovich and that also resulted in like a tag team with her and Shaina ay against Carmen and Natalia like you're just coming out of here and you're already getting those matches with the vote okay with Natalia and then someone yeah as strong as Shayna so she also recently had a feud with Jada Parker who was also climbing up the charts in NXT which started on Parker because of Parker that she attacked her and led to a feud. So i they were set to have a hardcore match at e c ECW Arena where Parker won. So of course, Lola being big ego, strong will, she said, oh, this ain't over. And they went on to continue the feud and at NXT deadline, they had a brutal NXT underground match where Lola was victorious. So I think
00:10:47
Speaker
she's also she can be main roster material for sure just because like as much as who she's been wrestling in how she's been highlighted already and she just started not too long ago. So you brought up Jayda Parker's long name right now Jay. Hey
00:11:12
Speaker
Oh my gosh, okay. Quickly establishing herself as a fierce competitor, Jada Parker's athleticism was immediately shown in her first few in appearances in NXT. Transitioning from soccer to the world of wrestling, Jada has competitive nature about her, she loves to prove people wrong, she loves to challenge, and she never backs down. Jada has quickly established herself as one of the top dogs in the NXT Women's Division. This year, she made her Royal Rumble debut entering at number 16, solidifying a place for herself as a rising star. Involved in high-profile matches like winning a street fight against Mijin or winning a hardcore match against All Advice, Jada has definitely established herself as a force to be reckoned with. And I say again, hey, Miss Parker. Definitely a force. So my second person,
00:12:09
Speaker
She is not, okay, unpopular opinion. She is not our favorite. We're talking about somebody that went to R.O.W. at the age of 14, wrestling under Booker T, Roxanne Perez. That don't seem legal, but okay. Did you do your parents' permission? I think she did. At 14? Yeah, i don' she's uming't function and she's still and't drink on all meal and if I don't know.
00:12:38
Speaker
But Perez had a breakout in 2021, when she competed in the Ring of Honor, becoming the 2021 Ring of Honor Women's World Champion. So that marked a good a huge milestone in her career. Then she signed to WWE in 2022, immediately making that impact by winning the NXT Women's Tag Team Championship with Cora J, which we see she is kind of teaming up and falling out with right now. But later they split up because Roxanne turned heel. She attacked Cora J, you know, the gist of those things when it comes to tag team partners.
00:13:13
Speaker
She then worked her way to the top in NXT. And I'm talking like pretty quickly, okay? She won the Iron Survivor Challenge up deadline. Then three days later, she defeated Mandy Rose to win the Women's NXT Championship. Already on top, straight like it. I'm not knocking her talent or anything, but she's coming up the top. And in 2024, she became a two-time Women's NXT Champion at Stand and Deliver after multiple attempts to try to defeat, at the time, Lyra Valkyria. This win made her the youngest two-time NXT champion and the third overall to have multiple reigns alongside Charlotte Flair and Shayna Baszler. So of course Roxanne being as cocky and everything as she was and nobody could beat her, she repeatedly defended her title until she lost in January of 2025 to Julia. Then she entered the Royal Rumble for one hour and seven minutes, breaking that record of being in the Royal Rumble, the longest. Yeah, I was saying we're not really
00:14:14
Speaker
A fan. And y'all probably gonna hate us, but we don't care. I don't care. We're not a fan of Roxanne Perez, for real. I don't give a fuck, Tisha. Please know that I'm the mean one, okay? So, I'll say the things. I genuinely wanna say nothing. I'll do it this time. That's correct. And if you ever met us in person, then you definitely know that.
00:14:42
Speaker
I'm sure they come out. they can tell ya well you didn't come here for us to be all not us okay yeah okay you knew who we were last year and you're back this year so clearly you love the outlet of this and do okay you like to nugget you but okay we love that anyways so my next person i just got hyped off the nugget and then she was ready to go who we going for the next person who walks by i don't know yeah
00:15:15
Speaker
oh
00:15:18
Speaker
not a young quay go shout out family So my next person I pick because y'all pissed me off.

Ava as Youngest GM: Nepotism Debate

00:15:25
Speaker
That's why I picked her. So the next person I pick is Ava. So at just 22, Ava became the youngest general manager in WWE history. In the short time that she has been GM, she has made important historical announcements for the brand like the addition of the NXT Women's North American Championship. And I picked Ava because some of you crusties on the internet
00:15:50
Speaker
chris what you Exactly. I like to criticize Eva to the point where it's pretty much bullying and you're grown-ass men and women. And people on the internet when they get called out for criticizing or often say like, well, if you don't want people's opinions, well, it's my opinion. well You can just be nice on the internet. Yeah. You could just sit there and twiddle your thumbs and watch big bad booty shake their butt.
00:16:20
Speaker
but instead you're picking on people younger than you um so on the internet you criticize her for the way she acts the way she talks the way she looks like things that i'm sure she's completely aware of the things you're saying to her about her on the internet um and you say that she's a nepo baby which could be true but if you're gonna say that about Eva then say that about Randy then say that about Natalia then say that about Braun because that's where they came from, wrestling parents. And like they weren't, oh Randy Orton wasn't always great in the ring. yeah He got that with.
00:17:01
Speaker
time and i'm sure he might have they might have seen a potential in him but to get to fcw to get to those places his dad's bob orton so i'm sure that's an influence yeah hi his dad is jim they have a life i'm sure that's an influence broad breaker sure that's an influence everybody's parents is so if you're so to go after her just because her she isn't that boy crazy work crazy work which is what i mean i see that all the time charlotte yeah and i'm like her career just started so even if she just got here Because she's the rockstarter, who cares? Like, she's general manager. You're in your mom's back room eating Funyuns. So zip your lip.
00:17:39
Speaker
anyway Anyways... Her authority figure... Her authority figure has influenced NXT in the direction that it's going and will continue to go. And you'll continue to be at home and you'll continue to watch them.
00:17:59
Speaker
So thanks for paying your bills. Thanks for calling me through my TED Talk. Period. Like you said, she's young. Like she just started, like they're even like criticizing her wrestling, which she doesn't really do anymore because she got injured. yeah But I'm like, she just started. So you're criticizing her first and probably only match. Like, I'm sorry that you don't like the way that she talks or looks or whatever. That's your own problem. She's getting shmoney and is successful clearly. She's getting shmoney and you looking mad funny. So who's winning?
00:18:33
Speaker
I hope you guys are enjoying yourself. And as I said, I'm not nice, so... Yeah. Had to be said. Oh, that's right. So, after Carrie's tip-top.
00:18:48
Speaker
we My last person, or people you just could say, the Metagirls, or Metaphor, Jakara, Jackson, and Lash Legend.

Metagirls Rise in NXT

00:19:00
Speaker
A tag team that is actually climbing up the charts in NXT. Okay. And beyond. Exactly. They debuted as disabled in 2023. So initially, they played the role in assisting no one and like oral in winning and successfully challenging their titles or retaining. So we saw a g glimpse at the beginning of their tag team abilities. But
00:19:27
Speaker
As they gradually came a more involved, we were able to see them go at it with tag teams, because NXT, if you watch, they are, they do have like a little tag team division. So we actually got more girls on there. So being able to see them go with without go with them, have feuds with them, but as well as they have challenged Bianca, Belair, and Naomi, think twice. Okay, two times. So they're definitely getting that feel of,
00:19:57
Speaker
the main roster encounters going into Lash. So Lash Legend is known for her unique combination of both, not only her athleticism, but personality. She was a host of Lashing Out. She was a previous WNBA player as well. So there goes that athleticism for sure. So beyond hosting that show, she entered the NXT Women's Breakout Tournament.
00:20:23
Speaker
Though she was successful again, that's exposure. That's her getting that experience. She had the six women ladder match for the NXT North American Championship. And she competed for the WWE's Women's United States Championship. She replaced Jade Cargill. And then this year as well, she made her Royal Rumble debut. I think it was number nine. She came in looking fly, okay? Our Wonder Woman.
00:20:54
Speaker
So she's been part of NXT's efforts to elevate the first talent in the women's division with an ever-growing fan base. Her fan base continues to grow, and that's all because of her strength and presence. Now, Jacara Jackson, she has worked hard on solidifying her reputation in the brand, having those hard-hitting matches. She's had some good feuds against some people showcasing her talent. She also has a strong presence as well.
00:21:24
Speaker
So she is continuing to grow and make her presence known in the NXT. And we'd love to see it. Black women representing for real. We do do love to see it. Some honorable mentions that we gotta mention honorably.
00:21:47
Speaker
She already stirred us off. Fallon Henley, she's bringing the country into NXT. She's our current NXT North American champion and a one-time NXT women's tag team champion with Kiana James, which some people was like, I've seen with Kiana, like Kiana being gone, that, oh, Fallon may not succeed because she didn't have her by her side. Boom. Look, what's she doing? She's succeeded. All right. Then we have Julia.
00:22:20
Speaker
our current NXT Women's Champion, Sol Vruca, Cora J, Carmen Petrovich, Renson Clare, Zarya, Thea Hill, Tatum Paxley, Shotzi Blackheart, J.C. Jane, Gigi Dolan, Izzy Dain, Brynley Reese, and Adriana Rizzo. That's your son.

Notable NXT Rivalries

00:22:42
Speaker
A few of the rivalries that kind of stick out, at least with these group of girls,
00:22:47
Speaker
the Jada Parker, Mola Weiss, we just spoke about... was um Any chance I get? Any chance I get? Um... Any chance I get? I was like... ah Julia and Roxanne, which is a recent one. Yeah. Thea's Julia is now. And we have Thea Hale and JC Jane. Yeah.
00:23:16
Speaker
So, yeah, I was like, I didn't like that name either. But it was like, cause you know, Thea and Hel, this way it chases you. And like, Jaycee was just like, you're just, you know, apart of Chase, you not really get in your. Flowers. Yeah. So they had a big few cause she was like, oh, you don't, you not tough. So that was like, ah that was a pretty good storyline, a long storyline. Cause they went on and on. Jaycee Jay was basically a movie.
00:23:46
Speaker
That's what it was. How bold of you to be a bully with a name that is similar to Juicy J? Juicy J. Juicy J. So we're going to talk about the future of the division.

Future NXT Stars on the Main Roster

00:24:02
Speaker
Who do we see being a success when they're called to Raw or SmackDown? Carrie. Hey, Ms. Parker. Uh, J. Parker definitely won for me.
00:24:14
Speaker
uh lola vice i could definitely see her um bringing something up there kind of like a shana maysler kind of vibe um and gg dolan it's another one that i want to see on the main roster oh for sure i agree with all those
00:24:36
Speaker
So my last legend, like, that that's of us. Kalani Jordan, we mentioned being main roster. I can see Soul Rooker as well. We know Stephanie Bakur is going to come up there whenever her time is. And then Zarya. Zarya is really yeah a bad bad behind chick, OK? That's one, yeah.
00:25:01
Speaker
And then, who do we think will be left behind? This is no shade to the person. I mean, yeah not every, you say this one time, not every NXT star is going to be main roster star. I chose Wendy too. I think the persona itself is not going to land on the main roster. And I don't like the persona of NXT, so. yeah I feel like it's very weird, especially as she's transitioned into like the evil version of the character. yeah and I thought the character in general was very weird. The sleeping, tired, in pajamas kind of thing. like Maybe it would have landed in
00:25:43
Speaker
late 1990s early 2000s when they were doing really random gimmicks maybe then but yeah definitely now i feel like it's kind of a waste of her potential but yeah i don't see that going anywhere anytime soon yeah i'm not sure when she daily is yeah it was 2018 so that's a whole while ago yeah i'm like if they have not brought her up now then yeah i don't see her ever being brought up and i don't know how the giving has gone on for so long yeah i feel like when she got injured and she left would have been a good time to repackage her instead of having her come back as the as an evil tired girl because i mean aren't we all evil tired girls but please
00:26:28
Speaker
like she's talented so yeah like you said have they switched it from the initial persona not just went oh evil heel type thing now you're in black pajamas yeah those are cute but get out of here yeah so mine i said thea hell she is like Big in NXT getting a lot of limelight just for like fusing stuff. She hasn't yet won a title which is okay because there's a lot of women in there now that's very talented and getting that highlight in NXT and haven't gotten the title but I don't think her character is developing either.
00:27:08
Speaker
yeah um she's with chase you and there was a moment that she stepped away from chase you and they brought her back to chase you so i'm like yeah she went on her own to try to build that individual character and i'm like if they brought her right back to chase you i don't feel like she will be going to main roster yeah because if they don't have any faith in you to be by yourself that they had to bring you back in to chase you why would i have any faith in you yeah respectfully so Like I said, she's popular in NXT. They love her in NXT, but I just don't see that going up to the main roster. NXT is good. like It's grown from where it was before, so there's nothing wrong with staying on NXT. Well, the women's division in NXT has become one of the most exciting and competitive parts of the brand.
00:28:04
Speaker
evolving into a launching ground where its rising stars continue to carry the brand forward thriving and in the right hands we cannot wait to see what is next for the women of NXT tea a excuse well Hey.
