We all hear about online scams and often wonder how it can happen, telling ourselves “I’d never fall for that.” In this exclusive limited series you’ll hear how a random act of kindness led a hapless true crime reporter into the very heart of an online scam and became the unwitting victim and right hand to the scammer. It began like this, in January of 2023, with a young Chinese woman, a teacher from the northeast looking to grow her TikTok channel…….. The names of those mentioned in this story have been changed to protect their anonymity.
