Welcome to the One-Shot Adventure

00:01:14
Speaker
Hello and welcome to Eberron Renewed, an actual play podcast set in the Eberron campaign setting. I am your game master, Eric, and welcome to episode two of our special one shot with the crew from the Manifest Zone. I am recording the intro here because we recorded it just like regular one shot.
00:01:29
Speaker
But I wanted to drop in to thank you all so much for listening. And the response to the first episode was great and overwhelming and just wonderful. And I'm glad you all are enjoying this. And yeah, I hope you enjoy episode two. It turns out we're probably going to have four total episodes of this one shot based on how long we ended up playing. So I hope you enjoy and look forward to the final two coming soon.

Entering Soledad: A Supernatural Encounter

00:01:57
Speaker
So are we moving? Yeah, let's head on down.
00:02:00
Speaker
Yeah. OK. There are time to just before we do that, I look down the hole that the guy fell. Is that another entrance we get in or do we have to go in the other? You know, so that was the that was the the mountainside. So it was just that. Yeah. OK, so as you all round the corner, you see this this cut out almost door frame into the mountain and you you all sense a feeling of.
00:02:30
Speaker
relative unease that those of you that have been in Soledad before, it never really goes away because they're almost as you're standing on the outside looking in, looks to almost be a supernatural curtain of darkness veiling the entryway. But as you enter, you you feel. You feel the magic around you.
00:02:55
Speaker
of the the ancient barriers that kind of protect the surface world from those who dwell down here. How many of you have been in Soledad before? I mean, let's face it, I went to summer camp down here. It's, you know, it's refreshing. I love that. Just that taint in the air, you know. Yeah. So for Rusty, like the rest of you, like most people, it's a sense of unease like they're about to jump out of an airplane. But for Rusty, it's that adrenaline tickle of like, here we go. Oh, yeah.
00:03:24
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Propel Beatrix, have you all been down in Soledad before? No. No, I think this is a new experience. Yeah. So. OK. Are you going to love it? This was this was Rusty's idea of a summer vacation. Yeah. Yeah. I think you should take the lead on this one. OK. This is your wheelhouse. And we trust you. We maybe we trust you. I think we trust you.

Exploration and Resilience Checks

00:03:53
Speaker
All right, well, I'm excited to be here. I'll certainly pop an ever burning torch here, just because I could shine light out of Buddy, but let's not waste our energy. Yeah.
00:04:14
Speaker
And so we got the wand in one hand, a torch in the other. And let's take a look around, folks. So Propel and Beatrix, you're immediately struck by the site of a dwarven architecture that you all, even having existed in the Muor holds area, have never really experienced, where you get the sense seeing what's down here below the mountain that the
00:04:43
Speaker
the architecture and the dwarven culture that exists on the surface almost seems a bit diluted over the years. This seems like pure dwarf down here. And so dwarves seem to like their rocks, lots, lots of angles. And yeah, so you all are walking about and everybody go ahead and give me a resilience check.
00:05:13
Speaker
I have worked so well for me before. A hard difficulty. So if any of you would like to use a story point to upgrade, you're more than welcome to do so. Pay propel one success, one advantage. Rusty one advantage.
00:05:29
Speaker
Nope. Oh, and Beatrice won advantage. Missed that. Oh, we did OK. So so propel, you're just looking around. Seems mildly interesting, at least. Very geometric. With Rusty and Beatrice, since you all did not pass the check, you you begin to hear like almost in the back of your mind.
00:05:56
Speaker
a low rumble of just almost like breathing, like a rasped breath in the back of your mind that is deeply unsettling. Oh, I mean, you know, unsettling is a strong word. I just find it kind of like music.
00:06:22
Speaker
So, yeah, and you get a sense that you have that uneasy feeling, especially you be a tricks that you're you're being observed. But anyhow, don't worry about that. That happens all the time here. You know, just bear in mind you are being observed. That is just just natural. You know, it's not crazy if they are out to get you and they are.
00:06:45
Speaker
So we're fine. We're all good. I'll have to trust you, I think, because I have a terrible feeling this is all about to go very, very wrong. I believe that's what you humans call foreshadowing.
00:07:04
Speaker
So you also have an additional map that Kratzia gave to you showing you where to venture below the mountain from the entry point that you went in. And you are venturing through there because you have a map. There's no need for survival checks or anything like that to navigate.
00:07:26
Speaker
Everyone can give me a perception check, however. Keep an eye out for red pudding, because if we find any fresh red pudding, I would love, love some of that. You eat the oozes in here? Oh, yeah, it's delicious. And a little, a little, you know, cinnamon, you know. I don't understand. It's just like a custard that crawls around if you leave it alone. Wow, be a taste.
00:07:55
Speaker
So Beatrix is one with the mountain. This is my new home. Rusty has to success propel to failure and one advantage and then Beatrix for success and a threat. So propel, you are still observing the geometry.
00:08:21
Speaker
and are not aware, but Rusty and Beatrix, you both begin to hear skittering.
00:08:29
Speaker
might be the wrong word, but just the the echoey, like quickened footsteps of things moving quickly and with purpose around you. And you get a sense that you're not only being observed in a metaphysical sense in that something is perhaps watching your mind, but also something is physically following you and keeping track of your movements.
00:08:55
Speaker
Um, we did not use the advantage from the resilience checks though. So, um, if, if any of you still have any lingering strain, you could recover that rusty. I don't know if you fully recovered all of your strain. Um, Beatrix, if you still had any, um, I got mine back. Yeah. Propel, do you have anything you'd like to do with your advantage on your perception check? Um,
00:09:21
Speaker
No, I can't think of anything right now. I mean, what we can do is literally just walking forward, following the map that he's memorized. Um,
00:09:32
Speaker
And he's unimpressed with the architecture. It's sort of repetitive. So let's say with the collective four advantage that have been rolled over the past two checks that you all are being observant enough and aware enough of what's going on around you to where if slash when the entities that are surrounding you
00:09:53
Speaker
make their presence known, they're not going to do so in such a fashion as to catch you off guard. Like you you all you have your guards properly up. You're you're looking about you're not going to get surprised by anything in this scenario.

Battle in the Dwarven Hall

00:10:07
Speaker
So. So yeah, as you're walking, you see. Dropping from what's the what's the walking order?
00:10:19
Speaker
I know that Rusty took front. I know Propel would be in front. Yeah, I think Propel would be in front and Rusty's like right behind him. Just being like, OK, hey, look at that. Oh, wait, what about there? And Beatrix bringing bringing up the rear.
00:10:36
Speaker
OK. Sounds good. OK. Well, and to address that real quick, Wayne, in this scenario, you'll be able to do either given that you all are ready, but not prepared kind of thing. So.
00:10:52
Speaker
So yeah, you all are walking about with propel at the front and propel is you're just kind of absentmindedly looking around because you didn't pass the perception check. You're a little bit taken aback when right in front of you, you see a small four armed creature with like two mouths like drop from the ceiling and just look at you for a second and then just
00:11:18
Speaker
in your torso because they are significantly shorter than you, but. But yeah, so let's go ahead and roll initiative.
00:11:30
Speaker
I do have to say back when Propel was criticizing the architecture and saying how boring it was that Rusty would certainly have said, Oh, yeah, I mean, it's, you know, it's not nearly as nice as all those beautiful warforged cities that have been built. Oh, wait, there aren't any. But you
00:11:55
Speaker
Harsh, Rusty. I know. And you can do vigilance or cool, whichever you. Wow. Wow. Damn. A lot of symbols. Wow. So, yeah, that is for success. Three advantage for Beatrix on Beatrix is active before we've gone. Thing jumps down, screams at me. She's already got it stabbed in the head.
00:12:22
Speaker
She threw she threw her sword at landing on top of it. She's so aware of what's going on. It's kind of cute. I'm just saying. Shortly after that screech, you all, because you've been so diligent and observant, see emerging from the shadows. A.
00:12:46
Speaker
Total, there's there's three little clusters of dolegrams that kind of shuffle out of the shadows to surround you. And then you see two. Dolgants with their tentacles kind of amongst them regarding you all. Obviously, they they do not speak. They do not give you any kind of
00:13:13
Speaker
quarter and it's just time to throw down. So because of Beatrix's remarkable vigilance role, the first actually all of you, the first three slots are PC slots. So all of you get to go before they do. So who would like to go first?
00:13:30
Speaker
I'll go first. Can you describe our comments? I'm guessing I'm engaged with this guy. But what does the rest of it look like? So you all are in a dwarven hall that you would guess is about 60 feet long and about 40 feet wide. There are various statues carved into the wall at different intervals. And there's some rotten
00:13:59
Speaker
Wood and like you get the sense that this used to maybe be a dining hall of some kind but because of time. Obviously most of that has fallen away and so there there is some rubble and things like that in the area but nothing nothing dwarven made that still stands.
00:14:21
Speaker
Okay. So in response to what Rusty just said from before, um, warforged wouldn't allow this much, uh, vermin in their cities. And I would like to pick up rubble and drop it on top of the, um, the, uh, dole, sorry, dole grims or dole grims or dole grims in front of me.
00:14:43
Speaker
OK, so we'll call that the attack spell using psionics since I'm assuming you're using your telekinesis to do so. Yep. So because. Because it's in short range, so that's just going to be one purple difficulty die. Oh, I thought I was going to drop it right on the front one in front of me. I thought I was engaged because I can move up to it. Or OK, yeah, you want you want it to be engaged. Sure. Yeah.
00:15:12
Speaker
So that's going to increase the difficulty by one to two purple because it's close combat. So when you're engaged, it's more difficult. Oh, OK. Then let me drop it on it and I'll move up afterwards. Yeah. OK. Excuse me.
00:15:28
Speaker
So I will basically, you know, gesture over to a piece of rock and basically slam it down on top of one of them. Perfect. All right. So. Oh, OK. So that's four successes, one threat and one triumph. Yes.
00:15:47
Speaker
So so just out of the gate, you deal eight damage, I believe. With your yeah, because your your intellect is four and that's what your attack spell pings off of plus another four for the uncancelled success.
00:16:05
Speaker
Yeah, this you pick up this big piece of rubble and drop it and it like hits the top of the dole grim and rolls off to the side and like really messes up two of its arms on its right hand side and it lets out a whale. It's not quite dead, but that was very effective. So what can I do with this triumph?
00:16:28
Speaker
So first off, for the threat, just go and suffer a point of strain and you need to suffer two more for casting the spell. So total of three. Three. OK, yeah, for the triumph we could. So with minions, one thing that you can use triumphs for when attacking a minion group is to just kill one of them.
00:16:51
Speaker
Um, just take out one of the minions. Um, cause that's what critical hits do with minion groups is it just takes them out. You don't roll on the table. Um, you could cause some kind of, uh, structural issue, structural issue, uh, given that you're picking up this big piece of rumple and kind of dropping it, slamming it down, um, to cause negative effects for the dolegrams and dolegons as they attempt to move around the space. Uh, but over time.
00:17:17
Speaker
Potentially, if other triumphs or despairs get rolled, it might continue to degrade further. But that's something you could do. You could you could pick up another piece of rubble, just I'd let you do it as an incidental just to kind of regard the rest in a threatening gesture to upgrade their checks is this kind of threat of who's next kind of thing. So, yeah.
00:17:44
Speaker
I think what it'll do is when it comes, when that piece of rock kind of comes down, it's going to shatter. Okay. And sort of, you know, pelt, pelt all the guys, not, not dealing any damage, um, and make it harder for them to basically maneuver around us. So basically, obviously in DD terms, difficult terrain, but to basically just make it harder for them to, to engage, uh, manufacturer your own count traps.
00:18:08
Speaker
Yeah, basically just kind of creating that, that field of rubble. And then as a, then I'm not going to maneuver closer to them. I'm basically going to sort of stand my ground between that field of rubble and the rest of them. I'm guessing they're mostly in front of us. Field of rubble. If you smash it, they won't come.
00:18:30
Speaker
Okay. We have another PC slot. All right. I think Rusty is going next. Yes. I'm going to cast superior mage armor. Now I want to debate my various options here. Um, mechanically speaking over the, I would like to get a success here. It's got a difficulty of three and, uh, the, the options I see on the table are, are using a story point or doing some dangerous casting.
00:19:01
Speaker
As my systems guru, what would you recommend? So you could obviously do both if you want chocolate and peanut butter. The. The using the story point, because you're you're. Packed magic is how many yells and greens, three yellow, one green. Yeah.
00:19:24
Speaker
So that would just turn one of your green into a yellow, which isn't going to inherently increase your likelihood of succeeding a whole lot more, whereas reducing the difficulty down from three total dice to two total dice with one of those being a red, it increases your likelihood of succeeding a lot more. All right, let's go ahead and do that. OK, I have it reduced down to one purple and then we upgrade it twice. Would you like to go and spend a story point? It sounded like that wasn't that that exciting, so I guess not.
00:19:54
Speaker
OK, you know, we only have two right now, I think so. OK, go ahead. On the other hand, I would hate to fail, so let's do it. All right. Changed my mind. OK, you are good to go, Rusty. Oh, heartbreaking to advantage. The mage armor does not cast properly. Now to advantage means I can cancel out. He's got he's got two right hands. I mean,
00:20:21
Speaker
What'd you say, Keith? Uh, does the two advantage me and I can get back to strain? Yeah, absolutely. So basically I wasted my turn, but you know, we're still here. No worse for wear. All right. Stupid magic. Beatrix, you are up.
00:20:41
Speaker
I think the proper thing to do or her training kicking in is telling her to establish their position and make sure they start fight with the upper hand. So she is going to lay her hands on Propel's back and speak a word of power to bolster him to
00:21:11
Speaker
to be able to fight with the strength of Beatrix's divinity and all the resolve that comes with that. Awesome. So I think that counts as a bless or an augment. We had a hasted bless as an example. Yes. So what's the difficulty on that one? It's got three purples on this. Three purples. Okay. So I'm going to spend a story point to upgrade that check once.
00:21:41
Speaker
Because I have far too many. I want to share the love. So would you like to spend a story point to upgrade your divine check image or are you good with the so you have four yellow. So upgrading it would give you another green dye. So.
00:22:02
Speaker
How is our balance is two to two right now. So I guess we've got something to spare there. So yeah, it's important to get this right. It is the start. You mean. That was my theory and then I didn't get it right. So yeah, let's spend a story point and do it better. Awesome. All right, go for it.
00:22:27
Speaker
OK, for success to advantage. Wow. So that hardly succeeds. So for propel. Basically, as long as the spell is active, which Beatrix, you can use your maneuver on each turn to concentrate to continue the effect of this. Right. You you add one additional green dye to any checks you make and you can take a second maneuver on your turn without spending two strain.
00:22:54
Speaker
Now, was she casting that on herself or casting it on Propel? No, she was casting it on Propel. Yeah, that's not Propel. Just using her own divine spark to do it, to clear up that narration there. Yeah. So the magic is hers, but she's given a gift to a friend.

Physical and Mental Challenges

00:23:15
Speaker
Excellent. Yes. So that gives me two strains.
00:23:21
Speaker
Yes, to strain. But you do have to advantage. So if you'd like to do that to recover strain, you can. Or if there's something else you'd like to do with it, you're also able to do that. If you want to impose a setback die on the dole grims turn or anything like that, you can do that. Can I do one of each or do I have to go all in on removing strain? I would let you recover one strain and then impose a setback.
00:23:50
Speaker
So could I, for example, impose a setback on these these dograms fighting propellers as they kind of shrink back or afraid of this power that she's imbued in time? So so, yeah, they see the innate divinity that you you exercise to to bless propel and it
00:24:13
Speaker
It confounds and confuses them and they are unsure of how to proceed. So they will have a setback. OK, we are now the first NPC slot, so we're going to go ahead and have the. The dole grims that are uncertain of what's happening, they're going to go ahead and act. So they are going to attack propel to purple with one setback die. Let's spend a story point to upgrade their check just for funsies. Did the field of rubble do anything for them?
00:24:44
Speaker
Yeah, don't forget or feel so. So yeah, in in having to attempt to move, they are going to have to. So actually, the interesting thing is minions.
00:25:01
Speaker
just by virtue of being minions cannot voluntarily suffer strain. So what you have effectively done is stranded them. So they are trying to navigate this, but they're slipping and falling and unable to move about. So
00:25:20
Speaker
Imogen, so your setback die isn't wasted. We'll say the next NPC to attack propel will have a setback die just because these minions can't get anywhere. So I'm actually short.
00:25:35
Speaker
So yeah, the the two groups of dole or the three groups of dole grims are trying to navigate and slipping and falling all over the place. It's as as Rusty said, they're they're quite cute. I love these guys. One of the dole gaunts now that is their turn is going to suffer to strain because they are able to do that and move up to propel.
00:26:03
Speaker
and going to attempt to attack. So with its tentacles and claws and nasty bits, so that is going to be so one success and two threat. So with the success, they're going to deal seven damage to you propel. OK, ouch.
00:26:23
Speaker
as it slashes with its claws at you. Now it is going to be the, with the two threat, let's say that once again, propel the way that it strikes you, you take a bit of it, but the positioning of your shield arm actually makes it more difficult for its fellow Dolgoth to attack you. And so it's going to have a setback die on its attempt to attack.
00:26:49
Speaker
If the next NPC that attacks you will get a setback that will keep images rolling. The other dole gaunt sees Rusty and sees Buddy coming off of Rusty's back and realizes we're just.
00:27:07
Speaker
realizes that you are an aberration of its kind and so is going to attempt to resolve this situation. So it's going to. When I go gone to meet a dwarf.
00:27:22
Speaker
One failure to advantage. OK, so it attempts to come kiss you, Rusty, it's wonderful tongue tentacle and fails. So to advantage, let's say, Rusty, you're you're having to kind of reel back.
00:27:40
Speaker
Uh, at it and you're going to get a setback die on your next, uh, your next check. Okay. Okay. And that was both of the dual guns. So we're back around to the PC's turn. So who would like to go propel and you seem to do the, the pounding challenge might not be a bad one. Um,
00:28:00
Speaker
Oh, challenge. That's true. OK. I was going to do a mage thing and a defense thing. But on the other hand, if you're going to challenge or something, I probably shouldn't waste time on defense. So I will go ahead and let's just blast this fellow who came after me. And when I say blast, I just mean inflict magic. Do an agonizing blast. I'm not trying to add the blast effect to it.
00:28:31
Speaker
A metaphorical blast, is it? A metaphorical blast. Is he at short range or is he engaged?
00:28:38
Speaker
Uh, he is engaged with you, but you took close combat. So so basically rather than, you know, the thing I'm holding up my wand, which, you know, glows with eldritch energy. Awesome. OK, so three success, Rusty. So that's going to be a total of 12 damage to this dole gaunt that's. Up in my way.
00:29:04
Speaker
Yeah, so describe this spell for me of what it looks like. So like I said, the way I see it is compared to the other effects where he's he was literally using the wand to inflict the damage here, it's more like he uses the wand almost like a lightning rod. So he holds the wand up and sort of draws.
00:29:25
Speaker
the inherent eldritch energies lurking all throughout Soledad are sort of into the wand and then channels those out through lefty. So just crackling it's not so much bolts of energy is just like it becomes hard to see lefty like reality is just not right there. And he just shoves that right into the the dolgan's chest.
00:29:51
Speaker
and basically just sort of shatters it on a molecular level. Well, it doesn't feel good. No, no, it's not fun. It's reeling. OK, Beatrix or Propel? I guess I can activate. Challenge. Challenge. Challenge.
00:30:16
Speaker
Yeah. I'll activate challenge sort of drawing everybody to me. So sort of like the crystal, the, the cyborg crystal sort of kind of glowing and makes myself a bigger target. I guess I think that's what it does. I'm not too sure about the nomenclature yet. Um, but with the one in front of me, um, so that's as a maneuver. So as my action, I will basically, cause it's kind of like, I got it's tentacles like wrapped around the shield. So I'm going to pull, you know, with the shield and I pull it closer and I'm going to force the side blade into him.
00:30:45
Speaker
Awesome. Real quick propel, which adversary are you targeting? Because you have one ranking challenge, so you get to pick one that's the target of your challenge. So it could be the one that's up on Rusty because everybody else seems to be focused on you right now. On Rusty. OK. Thank you. Thank you. I'm just seeing if there's any. I'm just learning to do that. I'm going to use a story point to upgrade the difficulty of your check. OK. Because that's what you do. How are we doing on story points?
00:31:16
Speaker
It's currently three one in favor of you all. Yeah. As I pull him as I going to as I use a shield to pull him closer, I'm going to head about it. I'm going to head button. He's as an incident as an incidental. OK, so you're going to offer two wounds and a target is knocked prone and dorse oriented. And then I will stop him as he falls prone.
00:31:38
Speaker
OK, and because he is prone, I think that also does something. You get a boost die because he is prone. All right. And we've upgraded you. He is disoriented, so you are good to go. All right. And that includes my haste. Your haste is. Oh, right. Plus one, right? Yeah, we'll add one green. So, yeah, now you're good.
00:32:03
Speaker
And I will use this to inflict strain. OK, I'm a stun. Because we're going to want to talk to this guy. No, because we can cut him up later. But he's already he's already dealt strain coming here. So yeah, yeah, yeah. It's just I'm just trying to like it's a side blade. It makes more sense if I got to do straight. It's on your. Oh, I see. I see. I see the button. OK, here we go.
00:32:30
Speaker
OK, so that is and two threats. Yes, for success to threat. So. So you deal a total of 10 damage, 10 strain. So, yeah, the psionic energy, you see it drain.
00:32:47
Speaker
This this creature's will to fight. It's it's not fully drained yet, but it is not doing great to threat. You know what? Let's just go ahead and say that. Hmm.
00:33:02
Speaker
OK, as the psionic energy wraps this thing, it kind of flails and it clears a path for one of the groups of dolegrams to where they're going to be able to get to you through the rubble. Next PC slot. That would be the address.
00:33:19
Speaker
I think that's Beatrix. So I think I need to use one of my, or a maneuver to maintain concentration on the augments, I think. So with that in mind, I think she's going to stick close to, to propel and
00:33:46
Speaker
try and use the side forge to kind of makeshift shield herself and then try and maneuver around him or sort of step around him and draw her sword and try and sever the tentacles of the dole going to try and mitigate that threat.
00:34:12
Speaker
Okay. So I'm going to spend a story point to upgrade that. That's the one I knock prone. I'm guessing. Yeah. Yeah. So kicking your words down because, you know, you got to press your advantage tactics.
00:34:30
Speaker
Wow, OK, five success and that. OK, and with your Pierce one, you disregard one point of soak. So that is going to be a total of 10 damage, I believe.
00:34:46
Speaker
That sounds like a lot to me, but I'm new to the system. Yeah, I mean, that that is a lot of damage, especially when you're disregarding a point of soak. Beatrix, you you step up to this prone thing just riving on the ground and you bring your blade up and just sink it straight into.

Speaker
Uh, to the center point, which strategically is kind of where you want to stab things when you're going to stab them. And this thing kind of arrives and starts for a second. And then you see its tentacles flop onto the ground as it, uh, it ceases to exist.

Post-Battle Resilience and Ominous Events

00:35:22
Speaker
And she just gets the nod as if she's happy with that performance. That was by the book.
00:35:31
Speaker
Yeah. So the one group of dolegrams that can close with Propel and Beatrix given their positioning are going to skitter up now that they see their opening and they are going to
00:35:50
Speaker
Attack to failure. So they skitter up and try to get to propel. And they're they're just clawing at this metal and the shield arm and everything and can't can't get through. So the other dog that is on rusty here's propels psionic challenge and turns to regard propel suffers. It's too strained to get over there.
00:36:19
Speaker
And it's going to attack and it's going to attack with its. Tentacle on propel. One success, so that deals seven damage. How much do you just take two points there? Well, so it heals to wounds as it siphons
00:36:46
Speaker
some life force from you. The science on that is unclear, given that you don't have any blood or vitality or anything, but his vitality just doesn't have blood. OK, and so now we are back around to the top of the initiative order with a PC slot.
00:37:09
Speaker
Um, I'm always happy to blast a thing, but, uh, if one of you doesn't want me, we're all going to go. So sure. I'll, I'll blast a thing. Yeah. So you have two groups of dolegrams that are still fighting with the rebel trying to, Oh, sorry. I was on the wrong page. I want to use, when he hits me, I want to use heroic resist resilience at the story point, which increases my.
00:37:36
Speaker
So by my ranks and results, boom, which I believe is just three, I think it's at least two. It's two. So you don't take my soak at seven, which means I take no damage and he heals nothing.
00:37:53
Speaker
I was looking at that. I'm like, where is it on a page? I would I would like to blast that guy. Since he OK, since he turned away from me and went after propel, I just like to try and just, you know, shoot him in the back. Excellent. So we're short range. And would you like to spend a story point to upgrade your check? A lot of storied points right now. Why not? OK.
00:38:23
Speaker
Because, you know, as I said, he's focused on on propel and let's take advantage of that distraction. OK. To success and advantage and a triumph. So. Yeah, you're able to. Blast him for 11 points of damage. Mm hmm.
00:38:49
Speaker
Um, which given his current state rest, you can tell that this, this thing is about to tumble. It's not quite there. Go and describe your, your spell for me of what you're doing this time when you attack.
00:39:02
Speaker
Um, I'm, I'm again, so it's the same thing of I'm drawing the power, you know, I'm sort of holding the, the wand up as, as the lightning rod of energy that should not exist, uh, and drawing that power. And in this time, since he's not right by me, I'm sort of building up the power and then just flinging this sort of ball of, uh, of just reality breaking, uh, tears sort of right into him.
00:39:31
Speaker
And what I would like to do is with the triumph, if possible, my thought is basically that this is an incredibly painful experience that will cause him to shriek in some shrill and human fashion, but basically to try to sort of shake the resolve of the dole grims. You know, that this is a
00:39:56
Speaker
making their leader look bad. Totally. What I'll do is I will have them make a fear check. So I'm going to cry like a little baby shark. So these two groups, they discipline is not one of their strong suits. So first group is going to roll failure with one advantage.
00:40:20
Speaker
and the second group to failure with an advantage. So, yeah, they see what's happening and. Disregard the rubble, disregard you all and take off skittering into the darkness from once they came, so. Yeah, you just have. The. Oh, and there's the one group up on Propel, no success to threat, so.
00:40:50
Speaker
So yeah, basically the dolegrams hear this like agonizing screech from the dolegot and they stop and just look at each other and and take off running. So next PC is still standing. Yeah, I just went standing. Wayne, do you want to go?
00:41:15
Speaker
Sure. I still have the, has the haste slash bless. And I'm going to solidify the blade.
00:41:26
Speaker
So it deals normal damage. Okay. And I will take a swing. One success, three advantage. Okay. So that deals... You're able, as your blade solidifies, you just slide it through this beast as it's agonizing from the blast, from Rusty, and you feel the dead weight rest on your blade.
00:41:51
Speaker
And the same thing he was trying to do to me, I will draw some of his energy in and I will reduce my strain. With my advantages, because everybody else is run, so. OK. Speaking of which, I have to take some strain because of that. That is because I cast a spell. And then as as the dole grim draws its final breath.
00:42:16
Speaker
Everybody give me a resilience check. Oh, Beatrix. Wow. Oh boy. OK, so to go through all the roles for the listeners, Rusty got two success and one advantage. Propel got three success and one advantage. Beatrix got three failures, four advantage and a despair. So
00:42:43
Speaker
Oh, no. No, that's great. So first off, Rusty, you continue to hear the breathing in the back of your mind. Propel, you're blissfully unaware of anything happening as a side effect of being in this place. I still like the breathing in the back of my mind. It kind of chills me out a little. Yeah. It's like a white noise machine. Yeah, exactly. Exactly.
00:43:17
Speaker
Beatrix, you begin to hear as your mind, I don't want to say loses focus, but becomes less compartmentalized with strategy of being in combat. You begin to hear words in the back of your mind in between the breaths of
00:43:44
Speaker
Perfection. Evolve. Grow. So. Yeah, that's that's what you've got going on right now. You have we'll deal with them in an order of magnitude. So Beatrix, you have four advantage. So that's quite a bit. What would you like to do with with all of this?
00:44:13
Speaker
What are the kinds of things like I can turn advantaged to? I guess because I can't use these advantages in the same way as a success would, right? Correct. Yeah. So so what you could do is you could with with something like for advantage, I would say you could ensure that the trying to think of the way the way this could work.
00:44:41
Speaker
given the next section of the adventure. I would say you could you could find a a cache in a stone chest of some kind of like.
00:44:56
Speaker
old dwarven items and you could find something that would be useful like a weapon or a shield or some items to bolster you all for the adventure ahead. You could give yourself
00:45:17
Speaker
With four advantage, given the fact that the nature of the role it was on, I would say on the next resilience check you need to make for this kind of effect, I would let you give yourself an upgrade on that check to try and prevent your mind from being even further invaded.
00:45:38
Speaker
you could do that. What about something like would she be able to use the way that she's succumbing to this effect to kind of maybe figure out or learn something about where it's coming from, like triangulate where they should go or
00:46:00
Speaker
Yeah. So you you can feel the the magical connection in your mind as it solidifies further with your your presence in this place. And you do get a sense of where it's coming from. And
00:46:19
Speaker
fortunately enough for you. It's in the same general direction as as whoever is in charge of navigating is looking at the map. It's in the same general direction as as what you're you're down here looking for. Isn't that what? What a coincidence. Yeah.
00:46:42
Speaker
But it just kind of solidifies the idea in Beatrix's mind at least that this is no coincidence or at least that the heart of the Forge we're after is connected to these aberrations in some way. There's no coincidence in these monsters appearing, I suppose. Yeah. Yeah.
00:47:12
Speaker
OK, the despair. So you you hear another word in between the breaths, Beatrix. Well, another series of words of. Violate. Disregard.
00:47:37
Speaker
trespass and you begin to feel all of you. This is not purely a Beatrix feel thing. You begin to feel the ground beneath you rumble a bit and you see some of the dwarven architecture behind you the direction that you came begin to crumble
00:48:01
Speaker
as something is causing this section of Soledar to shake and crumble. End of episode.
