Speaker: Distance makes the heart grow fonder. But let's be real, if you've ever been in a long distance relationship, you know the other version.
Speaker: Sometimes, distance makes the heart frustrated, confused, and really, really lonely. Hi, I'm Charline and welcome to the very first full episode of The Love Edit.
Speaker: If you've ever loved someone one from miles away or wondered if it's even worth it, this episode is for you.
Speaker: I want to start by sharing a little piece of my own story. I've been in a long-distance relationship and honestly, it was one of the most challenging seasons of my life.
Speaker: There were nights where I was glued to my phone waiting for a call that didn't come. There were mornings where I woke up to sweet messages that made everything feel worth it.
Speaker: And then, there were the fights, not because of love, but because of time, schedules, or just the stress of not being there. And that's the strange thing about LDRs
Speaker: They can make you feel deeply connected one moment and completely alone the next. But the reunions, those moments of finally being together, they feel like something out of a movie.
Speaker: The airport hugs, the late night talks in person, the simple things like holding hands again. It's magic, but it also reminds you of everything you're missing when you're apart.
Speaker: So what's the truth about long distance love? Here's what I've learned. Love alone isn't enough. You can love someone deeply but without trust, patience and effort,
Speaker: Distance will eat away at that love. Communication is everything. When you can't be physically present, your words carry more weight than ever.
Speaker: a missed call or unread message can mean more than it should. and It can create cracks if you don't talk about it.
Speaker: Jealousy and doubt come easier. When you can't see what's happening in their everyday life, your mind starts filling in the blanks and not always with kind thoughts.
Speaker: Reunions are beautiful, but they can be bittersweet. You're happy in that moment, but there's also the countdown until goodbye again. And that cycle is tough.
Speaker: And maybe the hardest truth, if there's no plan to close the distance, the relationship can feel like it's standing still. That doesn't mean LDRs can't work
Speaker: They absolutely can. But they require a level of commitment that not everyone is ready for. So if you're in one right now or thinking about it, here are a few things I wish I had understood earlier.
Speaker: Set expectations early. How often will you call? When will you visit? Having clear answers prevents small frustrations from blowing up.
Speaker: Don't compare your love to others. Just because your best friend sees their partner every day, doesn't mean your love is less real. Your relationship is different, not less.
Speaker: Create shared experiences. Watch the same show at the same time. Play online games. Send voice notes instead of just text. Little things help close the gap.
Speaker: Have an end goal. At some point, someone needs to move or the distance needs to close. Living in limbo forever can be exhausting. Know your limits.
Speaker: If the relationship is breaking you more than it's building you, it's okay to step back. Choosing yourself doesn't erase the love you gave. So, what's the truth about long dis tance love?
Speaker: It's complicated. It's beautiful. It's painful. And sometimes, it's all of those at once. But here's what I believe. No love is wasted.
Speaker: Even if the distance wins, the calls, the trips, the moments, they were real. They mattered. They were part of your story. And maybe, just maybe, they shaped you into someone stronger.
Speaker: Someone clearer about what love really means to you. Thank you for sharing this time with me today. If this episode resonated with you, I'd love for you to hit subscribe or follow so you don't miss my weekly episodes.
