Speaker: Hello everyone and welcome to the Fellowship Podcast. I'm so delighted to say that we are back for Series 2. This is wonderful news, isn't it? I'm joined by Raj and Marita and the Fellowship team are back. So along with myself, Louise Lumsden, Head of Fellowship and Teaching Excellence Awards, I'm joined by Raj.
Speaker: Hi everyone, it's Raj Deemar here, Fellowship Awards Advisor at Advance HE and yes, it's absolutely a delight to be back here looking at Series 2 of our Fellowship podcast.
Speaker: I'm Marita. Hi, I'm Marita Grimwood, Senior Advisor for Teaching Fellowships and really pleased to be back for Series 2. Oh, I'm absolutely delighted. Well, we all are ah were we're all delighted, aren't we? We've just been talking about it and the plans and it's so exciting and we're really pleased that the team are back and that we're ready to begin a new series about all things related to fellowship.
Speaker: And that's also, you know now more than ever, it's a really critical point where we think about what people are doing in relation to their professional development and how they're looking to have that recognised and ways in which they can develop their careers and their practice. And our discussions in our fellowship podcast will hopefully provide insights for colleagues to think about and how that might translate into their own practice. So it's great that we can have these conversations together.
Speaker: So Raj, what have we got lined up? What can our listeners expect from series two? Yeah, thanks, Louisa. For those of you that may have listened and followed ah from our first series last year, you recall that that was a clear focus really on the requirements of the PSF, what the PSF is, and what it represents and who it's for. And then also some specific episodes that we discussed around the requirements for the different categories of fellowship. So associate fellow, fellow, senior fellow and principal fellow and some discussions around evidencing effective and impactful practice um and the valid verification and ah corroboration of practice through supporting states and advocates.
Speaker: So we're going to build on the series that we did last year. And this time our plan is to involve some more kind collaboration with different guests from individuals and institutional representatives to really think about what that means in practice.
Speaker: um So our themes will really focus on things like a critical evaluation, very much and focused on k three core knowledge K3 of the PSF, looking at the individual institutional impact through the use of the the PSF in different ways in teaching and learning, but also thinking about things like career progression, lifelong learning.
Speaker: And the critical role that mentors and assessors and reviewers, for example, ah play in the decision making of fellowship outcomes as well. So lots of different voices, lots of different perspectives and hopefully something for everyone to get their teeth into.
Speaker: Thank you, Rajan. You've mentioned a few dimensions there. We still have lots of conversations, don't we, about the dimensions. K3, is it our favourite dimension, would we say? I don't know, Marita, what do you think?
Speaker: V3, yeah, one at one of those, i think. And put K5 in the mix. So, yeah, we've we've got but I think maybe they're all our favourites in whatever for shape or form. I don't but i don't know. i in say More conversation than others. let's just say Yeah, exactly. Exactly that. So we've got some really good things happening, haven't we, Marita?
Speaker: What what else? You know, how else can we support all of our themes from all our learning from this year? Well, I mean, we've we've been we've learned a lot. We've done an awful lot, haven't we? We've we've all been out and about different places. We've had our learning and teaching conference and um and I know you've both been to to the Republic of Ireland and I've been to Lisbon to various events and speaking to people not just from those places but from from around the world which is always absolutely amazing and one of the privileges of the job really hearing about what people are up to and how they're
Speaker: gaining their own fellowship, supporting others and supporting their institutions with it. So that's that's fantastic. um I think it's fair to say that when we started these podcasts, we couldn't quite have imagined the reach of them.
Speaker: Thank you so much for your for your feedback, but we've been really pleased to hear how people have been using the podcast to support their own applications, to support others' applications, signposting them to them. So it's, yeah, it's it's been a joy really.
Speaker: But Raj, we've also got our very exciting new fellowship campaign as well, haven't we? Do you want to just say a bit about that? We have indeed. i think um notwithstanding some of the challenges that exist in the higher education sector at the moment globally, one thing that I think has been pretty much constant is just...
Speaker: um the the need and value of having both development and recognition opportunities for teaching and learning high education. So if you think about it, there's a huge um contribution that individuals and institutions make to the quality of teaching, learning and the student experience. and As part of that as well, it's important for us that we collectively think about what that means.
Speaker: And so for this next year, we're looking at a campaign which is going to involve whole series of activities, including some short videos from us collectively that we're recording, but also some insights from institutions and individuals around what fellowship in the PSF has enabled them to do. and the impact of that, particularly on their practice, on different elements that we'll be honing in on, you know, as I touched on earlier around K3, critical evaluation and other elements of of impact as well. So these are really important things, particularly and as we're in a climate of thinking about where higher education is and and what it might be in the future. with lots of key challenges to to think about as well. So where does fellowship and the PSF sit within that and what does that look like globally? They're the things that I think I'll be keen for us to explore in in detail and hopefully people listening will be too.
Speaker: I think it's going to be really nice to be able to hear from others about their experience and also to get their insight into either supporting individuals to apply for a category of fellowship or whether they have their own fellowship and the impact that' that's had and how that's transformed their own practice.
Speaker: So I think we've got the, what's coming up is going to be a variety of conversations related to fellowship, but also give some insights for a variety of different individuals at different stages. in their professional development journey. So i think as part of our introduction, we will sign off now and we will look forward to um launching our new series just coming along in the next few weeks. And really thank you to everyone that's listened, that's continuing to listen and continuing to support us and look forward to seeing you next time.
