Podcast Host Introductions

00:01:11
Speaker
Hello and welcome to Ever on Renewed, an actual play podcast sent me ever on campaign setting. I'm your game master, Eric. I'm Phillip. I'm Trevor. I'm Randy. I'm Jeff. Welcome to another episode, gentlemen. What happened last time?

Translating Ciphers and Apprehension Plans

00:01:28
Speaker
Uh, we translated some ciphers, um, and got some information about the person we're supposed to apprehend. Yep.
00:01:41
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, that's it. We've got a couple of leads. Uh, lady Briar, the, uh, what's the name of the place? Philip, the manufacturer that are the, Oh, in highest tower, highest at eight. Yeah. An organization in highest tower or a shop. Uh,
00:02:02
Speaker
Is that it? Those are the two big ones. Olive extended in Olive. Okay, that was not intentional. Olive extended an offering to Milo to potentially help deal with the Therani stuff, but Milo's gonna think about it.

Journey to the Cogs and Meeting Lady Briar

00:02:21
Speaker
Okay, yeah, you all are headed down to the cogs to meet up with Lady Briar, who is the head of the Delvers, where Grum was kind of exiled to
00:02:33
Speaker
because Grum has told Hob in the past that she's making big moves in the underworld of Sharn and she would probably be able to point you all in the right direction.
00:02:43
Speaker
Um, so you all are unmolested on your drive down to the cogs. No, no problems there. Um, if anybody who would like, uh, to wants to make me a hard perception check on the drive to see if you notice anything or anyone Milo is definitely scoping his surroundings out everywhere he goes. So.
00:03:06
Speaker
Yeah, sorry. And that's a hard with one red is the difficulty on the perception check, since it is an opposed check. One red and that's two purple? Two poipole. No, I'm not going to. Hub probably would, realistically.
00:03:28
Speaker
Two failure, one advantage. So you don't spot anything, Milo. With the one advantage, what would you like to do with it? I'll pass the boost to the next check, whatever that may be. You could regain a point of strain. Also, Milo, since you have three strings sitting there. Or if you want to pass a boost, that's fine too. I'm going to get my strain back.

Encounter with the Skittering Horror

00:03:54
Speaker
OK. Good call. I'm going to use my human ability to take one of our story points back and then use it to upgrade this check. And I'm home. One success. Glad that I did. Eris, as you're driving, you look around. You saw what kind of vehicle Jason was driving. And you are confident that Jason is not following you. OK.
00:04:27
Speaker
too confident. So confident that she throws it into high gear. You don't realize that you're following him. That she spray paints property of the cauldron on the side of super discreet heiress. It's advertising.
00:04:47
Speaker
You're advertising where you sleep. I can write off my car payments on my taxes if it's advertising for my business. Okay, so you all get down to the level above the cogs where there is parking before taking a trip down.
00:05:10
Speaker
and you're able to find the Delvers headquarters. It's near the back of the cogs, kind of where the base of the towers are broken and it leads down into the dangerous parts, because that's where the Delvers have to go to scavenge. That's where they delve.
00:05:28
Speaker
So yeah, this is the deepest in the cogs that you all have gone, at least as a collective group on a job, whether or not any of you have gone to visit Grum, you can decide that on your own. But it's very unsettling. It's a building right next to the literal base of one of the Towers of Sharon is busted open and there's just kind of shadow that resides in this hole. And you get a very,
00:05:57
Speaker
Uneasy vibes, an uneasy feeling just even looking into that hole. There are sort of stares for a long moment that goes, wait, does that mean the base of the tower is hollow?

Negotiations with Grum and Lady Briar

00:06:13
Speaker
Oh, it's open inside because that just raises a lot of structural questions. I am not engaging with that. Absolutely not. Absolutely not. Hob will not be considering that fact. What do you think's in there?
00:06:37
Speaker
I hope a bunch of magic. It's just chock full of magic. As you all are looking, you hear a faint skittering at one point from the darkness. Does Eris have like an alchemical light stick?
00:07:00
Speaker
or something that she can pop and throw in there. Sure. There's not like a, you know, light cantrip. Exactly. So I don't know what to call it. But yes, Eris would like to do whatever the equivalent of that is and chuck it through that hole.
00:07:20
Speaker
Doesn't Raynard have dark vision? Can he see anything? I do have dark vision. I'm down with chucking a thing in a hole, but that would make it even farther. So, Raynard, as you look in, there is something suppressing your ability to see through the dark. It is magical darkness.
00:07:43
Speaker
So it seems very faint and dim. It's very much in grayscale. You can't even really make out like with that skittering you think you may have seen movement, but nothing clear. Aeris says you throw the light stick in. The light stick only glows in like a pocket of about like a five foot radius sphere around it. So it does not light it up like you expect it to.
00:08:10
Speaker
So like, it is magical darkness down here. Eris watches the light stick for a minute to see whether it draws anything. Yeah, when somebody reaches out and snatches the lights, I feel like we've also determined something. You see... Give me a perception check.
00:08:35
Speaker
Love this. Average difficulty. True success. After a minute of watching, the light stick just goes out like it was destroyed by something. And Eris, because you were watching so intently, you saw some kind of monstrous insectoid creature just briefly skitter by and use one of its legs that is clearly not just chitinous, metallic almost, and it just snaps your light stick in half.
00:09:04
Speaker
Um, as it skitters by, there's something in there. It's like, it's like a big insect or something. Oh, wonderful. Perhaps I can, I've never tried this before, but perhaps I could magically make a light in there.
00:09:31
Speaker
Just to clarify, do we need to go through? You hear a voice from the door of the building that you're standing next to say, it's called a skittering horror and no, you don't want to go in there. And it's Grum who has opened the door and is leaning against the doorframe. But what is it? Giant.
00:09:50
Speaker
insect monster. Are all the bases of the tower hollow? Well, there's like support structures and stuff, but there were like basements and things like that. I mean, they're structurally sound and also it's a manifest zone. So, you know, the tower probably wouldn't stand anywhere else, but. Yeah, there is that one part that just floats like that would be super concerned. So. Hi. Hi. What's going on?
00:10:23
Speaker
You know, crime. Right. Yeah. People trying to kill people. Pursuit of material wealth. Do the Blacklamps have business down in the base of the tower?
00:10:40
Speaker
Yeah, man. I guess. That's why we're here. Well, good luck. No, not in there. Grog, stop listening. That's just curiosity. We're down here to talk to Lady Briar. Do you know where we could find her? Yeah, in here. You came to the right place. Go and come in. I'll check in and see if she's busy.
00:11:07
Speaker
and you walk in and sort of stares into the darkness for a few minutes more and then whoever follows Grumman and as you all enter into the building this front area there's it it very much has the vibe of
00:11:25
Speaker
a adventurer's guild tavern, but after the apocalypse. Like there's tables, so there's a fire burning, but there's also just weaponry covering the walls that's not decorative. It's all actually used like spelunking equipment and weapons and things like that that could be grabbed on an instant.
00:11:51
Speaker
if necessary. You see a couple very, like, gruff, hard-looking individuals sitting at tables very quietly, drinking and enjoying the silence of each other's company. There's probably, I would say, five people total down here, two pairs at separate tables, and then one person sitting by themself. And
00:12:21
Speaker
Interestingly, in spite of the fact that this is a branch of the Boromark clan, none of them are halflings, much like the leadership of the Delvers. So, yeah, but it's a very, it's not somber, it's just intensely quiet. You get the sense that these people have seen and done things that would make your all skin crawl. So,
00:12:49
Speaker
After a minute, if you all don't, and the person sitting by themselves regards you briefly does not move his head, just his eyes shoot up and see you all enter. And then he goes back to staring at his favorite spot on the wall.
00:13:04
Speaker
Grum comes out of a door leading to a back room. I was like, yeah, she's free to see you just if you want to come back here into her study. You all enter a, not a large room, but enough to comfortably fit everybody here. A little bit bigger than Torville. Yeah, Torville's office.
00:13:26
Speaker
um but it's got bookshelves all lining the walls um a couple of ever bright lanterns that are set on the table and you see the tall elf woman her long black hair just flowing freely and she seems
00:13:44
Speaker
horrifyingly out of place. Like she is a very elegant tall elf woman who is also a warlock and dressed very like she's going to a fancy dress party in this like post-apocalyptic tavern. And she regards you all and is like, oh, hello. Grum told me that you requested to see me.
00:14:13
Speaker
She's closing a book and putting it back on the shelf as you all enter. Thank you, Milo. This is Milo attempting to be a bit charming to help her be maybe more amenable to what we may be asking.
00:14:37
Speaker
Uh, difficulty. Um, this is going to be against her. So one red, one purple. Uh, sorry. Go ahead. Oh, and loom as well. I guess. Yeah. Yes. Well, that's just, he adds to advantage if he succeeds. Yeah.
00:15:01
Speaker
Uh, we got story points. I'll go ahead and flip one to make it a little easier. That gives me a green to a yellow. Yes. I want info, man. I don't want it to be hard. Hopefully.
00:15:15
Speaker
Oh, my word. Two success, one advantage, and a despair. At least it wasn't while I was doing magic. Wait, you were doing magic? No, I said at least I wasn't doing magic. Oh, okay. So three advantage actually with Loom, correct?
00:15:36
Speaker
I'm double checking if it's three or five. It's five. I have two ranks of coercion. So it's two per rank. So five advantage. So two success, five advantage.
00:15:48
Speaker
And despair. So she, while probably knows what you're doing, appreciates the gesture. And she smiles at Milo. Good to see you again, Milo. And she looks coldly at Raynod. And so five advantage, gang. I could have it be a...
00:16:15
Speaker
I mean, your intent was to get her amenable to giving you more information, which you have succeeded on. So the advantage could play further into that, or it could be a wholly separate thing. I mean, Randy, you have first crack because it's your role. Right. I mean, possibly if we have to go to the other place, we could utilize the advantage somehow to help us there.
00:16:43
Speaker
The other place like the weapons. Yeah. Yeah. The wherever the his wings and stuff were built. Yeah. Highest towers. Yeah. I mean, that's about the only thing I can think of there. I mean, that's a lot of advantage. It is a lot of advantage. Triumph for the level of advantage, some would say.
00:17:14
Speaker
I'm gonna put her up real quick while Rainard's standing in the corner not making eye contact with this mean lady. Not liking you for the way you acted does not make her a mean lady. I mean what about with that advantage that like she just has I mean I know we succeeded but she just has like all the info we need. Is that too much?
00:17:44
Speaker
No, I mean, that's that's that's fine. Like basically I have a table of like varying levels of information and I'm fine with those five advantage unlocking everything. Let's make for a quick scene. That sounds good. Yeah, let's let's learn. Let's learn what we can learn. Yeah, I'm going to turn down everything. The despair. So these are lies.
00:18:14
Speaker
one of these things is not like the other one. Just walked past that horrible hole in the tower, and then we roll it to fair. It attacks and comes out. Hey, Philip, get out of my head. You hear grunts start shouting from the main room. Arms, arms, we got them coming up. And you hear weapons clamoring off the wall as Lady Briar rolls her eyes out. To be continued.
00:18:42
Speaker
What you're saying is, in this metaphor, Eris is Pippin throwing rocks down the well in Moria and has summoned the Balrog. Yes. Yeah, you took of a dork or whatever he says. That's pretty good. Took of a dork. Fool of a toque, right? There you go. Yes, yep, you nailed it. Nailed it one. Okay. And that's a book you say?
00:19:08
Speaker
Yeah, they did a book adaptation of the movies. It's okay. They added way too much. Hob considers for a moment that his arms are his hands and that that is a bug and doesn't like the idea of going over there. Milo just locks the door and waits. Let's just wait it out. Let's let these guys do their jobs.
00:19:37
Speaker
That Lady Briar is not the sort of leader that would let that stay in. It probably would not go well. Eris runs out the door because, you know, her ship is out there. She's not going to let whatever it is eat Tasha. Yeah, Hob's going out. I did not mean to insinuate that he wasn't. OK. You just don't want to punch bugs. I don't. I'm gonna. I don't.
00:20:03
Speaker
So you all rush out, you see the group of five individuals, the Delvers, have grabbed weapons and are kicking the door open and sprinting out into the streets.

Battle with Skittering Horrors

00:20:17
Speaker
Grum is with them, also wielding just the gnarliest looking axe that you all, well, Eris, you might, it's weird, it's like,
00:20:31
Speaker
I'm trying to think of how to properly describe it. Basically, it looks like the axes that the hobgoblins would wield, but like 12 generations earlier. Interesting. It looks like an early version of something that you have a reference point for. Eris will remember this.
00:20:57
Speaker
And they sprint out and you can see through the windows of the front of the little tavern that there are four creatures coming through the hole, one much larger than the other three. Tell me about these windows. They are glass. They have bars.
00:21:20
Speaker
that's that's that's the windows how tight set are said bars i want to know whether i can shoot through one of these windows i mean they're set into wood okay how tight set like um yeah uh you you could fit the barrel of your fletcher through through the windows um baris runs over smashes a window and
00:21:41
Speaker
Lady Briar sighs at the sound of shattering glass. Now the heiress has discovered that because of the metal encasing her hands, she can punch through windows with no consequence, and so it's- God, it's the windows of Sharn. It's like that job interview question of how many windows are there in Sharn, the number's gonna get a lot less, the longer heiress exists in the city. Just like crushed glass bottles in her hand, like just, yeah. Raynard runs up to her and uses the butt of his crossbow to break the glass out and sticks his out too.
00:22:11
Speaker
Milo runs up with his wand. Uses his already battered hand to punch out a window. Like, can't get worse. Hob's good back here. It really can. It really can get worse. Okay, so let's roll initiative. Okay, and I got a triumph on one of my initiative rolls. So, the big one is going to get a free maneuver.
00:22:40
Speaker
as it comes barreling out. Yeah, I mean, the name skittering horror is an apt name based on Ural's estimation. It is a massive insectoid creature with large just legs coming down to a fine, fine point, easier to stab with. And it's just terrifying to behold, like legitimately.
00:23:10
Speaker
None of you have seen anything like this in your lives, like it some would call it an aberration of the normal order of things. And so it is it is a terror to behold. And.
00:23:29
Speaker
Yeah, the notion of this thing getting close enough to physically assault you is upsetting. So we have NPC slot, PC slot, and then every other PC slot, and then NPC slot starts at the top of the round. So first up, we have the big one. So Hob, you're still in the tavern. Everyone else is at the windows looking out. Is that right? Well, Milo's not. Milo's back by Hob.
00:23:57
Speaker
OK. I mean, Hobb would be where he could see out the window. He just he's not offensively waiting at the window because that's not how Hobb rolls. Well, are you headed for the door to go out there or are you just watching the window because it's two separate directions? I guess I probably believe. All the other Delvers ran out the door.
00:24:16
Speaker
I guess I'd probably be heading to the door then. I'd still be inside, like listening to them describing what they're seeing at the window, but I'd be planning to go out there, yes. Okay. Milo's following Hob with the intent to touch and imbue him with magic when he gets the chance because Milo is not going out there. Okay. So this thing is going to attack the group of Delvers that ran out initially. Um, so this is going to be a brawl check for this creature.
00:24:49
Speaker
Two purple difficulty because it's a melee check and that is it. And why not? It'll aim. It got a free maneuver from that triumph. So yeah, let's roll.
00:25:12
Speaker
for success to threat. So you see one of the Delvers immediately runs out the door with a long sword of some kind of goblin. Most of the weaponry that you see, Eris, now that you're seeing it in action is kind of that early gen goblin make that you've never really seen before.
00:25:33
Speaker
and runs up with a sword and brings it up, sprinting at the thing, and it just brings one of its front legs down and just brings it straight down through this guy's back and just pins him to the ground as he like shudders for a second before going limp. And it just lets out a, ah! Hob second, Hob second guesses his gunko-ness.
00:26:02
Speaker
PC slot. So we're down to four Delvers. Grum and lady. Uh, if Milo's going to empower hob, you should do it before you go. And Milo reaches out and touches hob barrier and add defense. I believe that's three purple, three purple. That is correct.
00:26:34
Speaker
Milo. Um. Yeah, I'll flip a story point, make one a red. No. Don't, uh, at me, I need to give you all story points. What do you want from me? It's just so nasty on this one because it's already increased. And Milo's muttering to himself, please work, please work, please, please work. Hey. Yes.
00:27:02
Speaker
Two success and a triumph. All right. Somebody's explaining me how to alter my character sheet. Bob gets four defense to his ranged and melee equal to my four ranks of knowledge. Wait, so I have four defense now?
00:27:27
Speaker
On top of what you already have, to your defense, yeah, and your melee, it says. Four? So my melee defense is fine. Wait a second. Target gains ranged and melee defense equal to your ranks and knowledge. And I have four ranks of lore. Okay. Um.
00:27:52
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. That's, that's how that works. What about, uh, I don't want to say greedy here, but does it do anything to my soak? I can't remember. Yeah. Uh, the two successes. Raised it by, by an additional one or two. So, so you add two to your soak. Um, now
00:28:16
Speaker
Milo, that critical injury that you have on your hand, doesn't that increase the difficulty? Oh, by one. Yes, it does. So you need to roll one more purple. So one threat. Take two points of strain. OK.
00:28:41
Speaker
That's not so bad. I'll take it. Don't forget to take the other two points of strain. Okay. Um, okay. So NPC slot. Wait, wait, did we, did you try it? Oh yeah. What do you want to do with the triumph? It has a heart attack and it dies.
00:29:00
Speaker
It doesn't have a heart. I knew it. Again, I don't want to seem greedy, but what can we do for Hob here? Is there a chart for triumphs with magic? No, there's only a chart for threats and despairs. Tack on an additional quality? Yeah. If you wanted to add...
00:29:31
Speaker
reflection or empowered. Empowered would add an additional point of soak to hob. So it'd get plus three soak instead of plus two. You could do additional target if you wanted to basically copy this onto another person. What are you thinking, Milo? Or something else?
00:30:01
Speaker
Lady Briar's not going outside, is she? No. That's how they say that. That's like no way. She's a spellcaster. She's going to be where Milo is. Exactly. I mean, our buddy Grum is out there.
00:30:18
Speaker
Grum is out there. I would even let you if you wanted to add like haste, which is an additional effect of augment. For a triumph, I would say you can tack on haste, so Hobb would get an additional second maneuver during their turn without spending strain. Yeah, I'm getting for that. Or you could copy it onto Grum. What do you got, guys? I'm open. Put it on Grum or haste, Hobb.
00:30:45
Speaker
We just watched one of them die out there in one blow. I think you should kick something out to grum, just for the, just to say we tried. Yep. Yep. Grum and barrier. Yeah. So Milo touches hob and then butters something about grum and points at grum. He gives him a finger guns. Okay.
00:31:16
Speaker
NPC slot. So the smaller skittering horrors skitter up to the group of Delvers that have rushed out and they are going to attack. Two success, one advantage. So with that advantage they will pass a boost on to the next NPC slot that occurs and their damage is going to be
00:31:43
Speaker
So you see the three smaller skittering hoarders rush up and the Delvers seem much more equipped. Like these are the type of skittering hoarders they are accustomed to dealing with. And so they take some nicks and some hits, but they seem to be fighting them off well enough. None of them go down of the remaining four. PC slot.
00:32:08
Speaker
Well, it's all PC slots now, so I will shoot at the big one. I will aim. OK. You're a short distance away. The big one has adversary two, so it's going to be one red, one purple. I'm aiming. One red, one purple.
00:32:38
Speaker
And this thing is Silhouette 2 to give you a sense of the size of this big one. That's when I say big. Wow. It's a big one. Does that make it easier to shoot? According to the game mechanics. No. All right. Yeah. So Eris just Eris has rested the front end of the Fletcher on the windowsill and is
00:33:05
Speaker
taking aim and there's a wine and crack as the Fletcher fires. Hey, hey, hey. Yep. So that's five successes and one advantage. That is 14 damage Pierce two.
00:33:31
Speaker
And with only one advantage, I don't think I can trigger. No, it takes two for that. Oh, shoot. I'll remember it for next time. This thing has one range defense. So just in the future, I'll remember that. Okay. So I will say that the Fletcher, just the bolt,
00:33:54
Speaker
buries itself deep into this thing, causing it to, you know, rear back and open itself up so that the next attack on it will have a boost. Okay. And yeah, it lets out a whale. And you see, as the Fletcher Bolt pierces the chitinous armor, some of its
00:34:18
Speaker
You would say blood probably just for the sake of a common understandable word comes spraying out and you see it land on the arm of one of the Delvers and it like burns away his clothing like acid. It's like cool. PC slot. Can I go?
00:34:42
Speaker
Yeah, sure. All right. Hobbs all jacked up on gamer fuel now. And so and he watched the the first guy die before he even had a chance to get out there and help and that. So Hobbs going to go berserk, which just remind me that as soon as he encounters over, I got to add sick strain is the penalty. Yeah. So I'm going to go berserk. And can I get to the big one? Yeah.
00:35:09
Speaker
Okay, I'm gonna run out to the big one, and I am going to attack with my bare fists at this monster. All right. So I'm going to do that. What's my difficulty? It's normally too purple, but with adversary two, it's too red. Okay, and I am going to suffer
00:35:37
Speaker
Yeah, I'm suffering too strained for one of my talents and I think... And I'm gonna flip a story point. I really just want to see what happens to play with this guy. Okay. All right, I think that's everything.
00:35:59
Speaker
Wow, okay three advantage one triumph and One despair. Okay. So first I need to do some here's a question Here's a question. Do I need to look at the wording for this? if Berserk adds success and advantage to a role and double or nothing double success and advantage in what order do I do those two things and
00:36:21
Speaker
Okay, so say that again. So Berserk just adds successes and advantages to my rules. Okay. Double or nothing doubles my success and advantage. Oh, you know what? I'm sorry. I'm lying. I didn't want to use double or nothing. I wanted to use the other one. So I take that back, but again, I, this is so, okay. Trying again. So two success and three advantage. Let's just do the damage first. I'm going to use.
00:36:51
Speaker
Yeah, so that translates to three success and five advantage. Okay. I'm using my leaping attack because like I said, I'm all jacked up. So this is breach plus one to this attack and my brawn is doubled. So that means that it's eight plus, I've got to start remembering these numbers, eight plus two plus
00:37:18
Speaker
Three. So that's 13 damage. Okay. And then with the five advantage. With Breach. Oof. 13 damage with Breach. 13 damage with Breach. And then let's just go ahead and double that. I'll use two of those advantage to flurry of blows. Okay. Okay. And then, oh, what do we do with this triumph?
00:37:49
Speaker
How much advantage have you got left? Have you got enough advantage left over to crit? I've still got three advantage, so I could crit too, yeah. With my Cestus, so. Yeah sure, let's just crit. Well, do I crit with the Triumph and do something? No, crit with advantage.
00:38:07
Speaker
You can add n to your crit, make it vicious, but if you want. Okay, so we're rolling DEET at 100. So two.

He's having a rough day. Dos. I'm not too pressed about a low crit roll right now when I just did 20. You and I together did 40 damage. Yeah. Yeah. Minor nip. Target suffers one strain. It's miffed. It's miffed at how hard you hit it. Okay.

The description of

Hob's Heroic Defeat and Injury

00:38:50
Speaker
a brawling attack with breach like implies to me that you punch this thing so hard you crack its exoskeleton or whatever. That's exactly why I went with that is because I thought if this has an exoskeleton I might actually need breach to make some headway with it.
00:39:09
Speaker
I'm sorry, Erica, what did you ask me about crit rating? What's the crit rating on your attack? You have five advantage. Did you have to use all of them for the critical hit? Between the crit and the flurry of blows, I have used all the advantage. We're down to a triumphant in despair. What can I do to help you guys out for the...
00:39:28
Speaker
Strictly Speaking of Triumph can give the next person a free upgrade on their check. Actually, sorry, I misted Breach. Hobb, describe your kill. With your flurry of blows that put it over the top. I kind of hoped it would. So I think that Hobb just
00:39:53
Speaker
This is so, this is like, this is so from monk to barbarian is what this is. I know. And when that's the wildest thing about it is this is clearly like. I don't know why have just went so ham, except for that he got buried and like it was like, yeah. It's like that's an eldritch horror just crawled out. Yeah, that too. It's like he took that silver spray from Fury Road and just went off.
00:40:20
Speaker
I think I've just spears him to the wall. I think, like, are we like in a, we're in a courtyard or something, right? It's basically a street, like a wide street.
00:40:31
Speaker
Yeah, I think that Hobb just runs out the door, legit goes past the other bad guys, the other Delvers, and just spears this big one to the wall, and its carapace crushes it in and on itself. And there's no ceremony to it, it's just he squashes the bug.
00:40:53
Speaker
Yeah, and somehow remains clean. I do have some distressing news for you, Hob, also though. Well, okay, first off, with the triumph, I will say, if you want, I will let you activate your heroic ability to just wipe out the remaining minions as well as part of this. On the way. Furious. Tear off the big one's leg and smash the other.
00:41:18
Speaker
Okay, here's what Hobb does. To get to the big one, Hobb has to go past the little ones, and he just jumps across their heads, like crushing him. No, that's foul. That's way too violent. Fine, yes. Hobb crushes all the bugs. Hobb goes berserk on the bugs, and... Okay. So, a feature of this creature, anytime it suffers wounds, one engaged,
00:41:48
Speaker
character, Hob, would be the only viable one, suffers half that amount of damage as strain. As strain? As strain. Oh no. So I just suffered 13 strain? Well, no. You flurry of blowsed it. Yeah, that's half. Which made it to 26. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. So yes, 13 strain.
00:42:16
Speaker
Good night. And you're about to suffer a bunch. Plus six because the encounter is over. So at what point? At what point is my strain threshold like? Yeah, I'm well above my max, well above my max. You're not dead. Does it does it carry over as wounds?
00:42:45
Speaker
Despair or is this a bad thing that was gonna happen regardless? This is a regular feature So what's hilarious is we we accomplished our previous goal in the social encounter But rolled despair which triggered this combat encounter We just ended this combat encounter but rolled a despair in doing so So who knows? Yeah, yeah else will be told of this day of hob forever
00:43:17
Speaker
The tower cracks open and more just pours swarming out. You hear a creaking from the stone of the tower you stand next to as it begins to run up.
00:43:28
Speaker
The only thing that makes sense is that Hobb did drive this thing into a wall and squish it, but his own head hit the wall first. And now he's just dazed his ball out there. You're covered in acid blood. Yeah, you got showered in acid blood. And yeah, so no, you do not suffer a critical injury when you exceed your strength. Good. So we're good in that regard. Yeah, literally, you just you are incapacitated, Hobb.
00:43:54
Speaker
Looks like we need to take him to Marist. Are we treating this like, are we treating this like when Aeris was out without strain? I am incapacitated, but I'm moving of my own accord. Like they're carrying me and stuff. If you want, you can decide how, if it, if Hobb went so hard that he just passes out, that's fine. Or if you want to say that Hobb is just dazed and out of it or however you want to play it, I'm fine with. Yeah. Yeah, I think Hobb is just exhausted. The acid is also hallucinogenic.
00:44:22
Speaker
He thinks Eris is a bug now. I can only lie. OK, so the despair. And now the despair and now the despair. So things are quieting down. The threats have all disappeared. And.
00:44:55
Speaker
Hmm. I'm thinking about it. If anybody has any thoughts, feel free to share, but, um, I don't know. Um, I mean, I guess it could have Hobbs suffer a critical injury from the massive amount of strain. Um, yeah, maybe I'll get, uh, Hobbs suffers a critical injury. More bugs pour out.
00:45:21
Speaker
We've also been pursued by something else. Now, if more bugs pour out, do I get to take those six strain back because he encounters all over. Encounters all over, yeah. Yes, yes, that would be the case. It's still above my threshold, don't worry. We're cornered by House Therani. Oh boy.
00:45:45
Speaker
I mean I'll take the ram shows up. This thing packs a nasty punch so I would be fine with the despair saying like it gets one hit one attack in on Hob as Hob is like spearing it into the the wall if you're fine with that Jeff because you currently have zero wounds so yeah I'm what I'm however you want to play this my man you got a despair to play with
00:46:07
Speaker
I'm not going to like whatever you do. So do whatever you want. I mean, so that does have five defense. So that's five setback dive on this role. But what were you saying, Randy? Well, I'd say you said he got sprayed in acid. The acid doesn't cause any wounds. No, it causes strain. Just causes the strain. Well, that's okay.
00:46:28
Speaker
I mean, it effectively has taken me out of anything we want to do until I can heal. So yeah, we just without knocking me out. OK, so all the setback. Make sure. Yeah, I got the five setback on the attack. Three brawl, it's got a score of five on its bronze. So three yellow to green. With his last breath aimed. Yeah.
00:46:59
Speaker
It managed to get a short incantation to bolster its own power To the dark to the dark gods of the of Kong's Bug God bug God God And I did not know there were eldritch horrors living down here in the cogs it is a Much worse place than I had imagined, right?
00:47:30
Speaker
Okay, gonna roll. Three yellow, two green, one blue, two purple, five black. And this is a good opportunity for me to get you a story point back, so I'm gonna flip one and change one of those greens to an additional yellow. I didn't wanna do them on your attack rolls, because it has adversary two, so that just seemed like a lot. Okay, one success, two threats, and a triumph.
00:47:59
Speaker
So I'm fine. You take nine damage pre-soak, but it does have, oh, it does not have Pierce anything, okay. It's going to use that Triumph to Crit. Sure. Remember, do you want me to roll it?
00:48:22
Speaker
No, I got it. Okay. It's got vicious four on its attack. Oh my word. 126. Minus 10. Yeah. Minus 10. Minus 10. 116. I feel like Eric's mad I took away his fight. No, no, no, no. This was just... I have an idea for the triumph. How about another triumph? Vicious. Four. Wow.
00:48:52
Speaker
116. Oh. This is so much worse. Oh. Hob, as you're tacking it, one of its legs on the other side comes up and scratches across Hob's eyes. Blinded. The target can no longer see. Upgrade the difficulty of all checks twice. Upgrade the difficulty of perception of vigilance checks three times until this critical injury is healed. So it's healable.
00:49:22
Speaker
But you gotta go see old pebblefish. You got acid in your eyes. How difficult is the heel? Four purple. No, three purple. Okay. I mean, I can't do it. That's something you wanted to keep count of. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, your eyes are burning. They've been slashed up, but a quiet falls over the cogs.
