Welcome everyone to episode 32 of the It Matters To Me Podcast, a show that celebrates the random through 1-on-1 conversations with people and the passions they pursue.
Today my guest is Amity Shlaes, best-selling author, columnist, president of the Coolidge Foundation and just so much more.
Some of her books include Coolidge, The Forgotten Man, The Great Societyand many others that have made her an expert in early 20th century American economics and politics.
We spend a majority of the conversation talking about Coolidge’s presidency and just how underrated ole Silent Cal has come to be.
Then we get into her other works and the impact those policies are having decades later.
After reading the Forgotten Man myself, I wanted to know what would motivate someone to dedicate their time and energy to a period that most of us never lived through and only know about from our high-school history class.
Amity’s intellect is unmistakable so I made sure to be as prepared as possible for this interview and I genuinely enjoyed that process. On top of that, her sincere warmth really shines through and makes for a truly great talk.
