00:00:25
Speaker
Before get into today's episode, we just wanted to Checking with each other with you guys. Since the last time we sat to record just our episode together, had our first podcast collab.
Collaborations and Partnerships
00:00:42
Speaker
Yes, with Grit and Glitter Podcast. Yeah, so that was the last episode episode that we uploaded. It was fun.
00:00:49
Speaker
It was. If you did not listen, in now is your time to go listen to that. Thanks. Rewind it. Go back. Take it back.
00:01:00
Speaker
As well as we also had our first collab with a clothing brand, we had a little photo shoot for Seattle-based clothing brand, Davy Jones Lockers. Head to the website, head to the Instagram. It was fly. was. Yeah, there were a group of models there. was runway show.
00:01:22
Speaker
It was what? It was a good day. Yeah, i would say we had a busy weekend that weekend. Yeah. Like we did all of that in one weekend. Thank you. So y'all ain't eating like this. Y'all ain't eating.
00:01:34
Speaker
You ain't got no silverware, no plate. Okay. Cause we ate all weekend. No, it was busy weekend, but a good weekend, um a progressive weekend. So we can't wait to do more of those things.
00:01:48
Speaker
Yes. So we'll be on the lookout for those as well as as we're speaking.
Impacts of WWE Wrestler Releases
00:01:54
Speaker
Yesterday, WWE announced release... Oh, Okay, bubble head.
00:02:12
Speaker
My hat. Okay. Okay. Sorry, my hat hit the microphone. I may keep this in. I may take it out. I don't know. crying.
00:02:25
Speaker
I'm crying because WWE did all the releases.
00:02:31
Speaker
um and No, but they did release a group of superstars that we were shocked about. One of them being Cora Jade. Yes, I was definitely shocked about that one because they were pushing her yeah recently. So I'm expecting, you know, we're about to see her in more action in NXT. Yeah.
00:02:51
Speaker
Etc. And then to see that she was released, I was like, yo Yeah, that was very crazy. Ron Stroman, I feel like they release him every two years. So I'm not really surprised by that. Yeah.
00:03:04
Speaker
Like, okay, if you don't want the man, stop bringing him back. Let him go somewhere else. You bring him back, barely put him on, and then release him. Like, let him go somewhere else and be great, basically.
00:03:18
Speaker
And Dakota Kai, which once again, same thing. She released, come back, released again. She's a part of damage control, but then you're not really doing anything with her while other members are injured or things like that. So let her go be great somewhere else.
00:03:36
Speaker
And then Jakara Jackson, which we've seen metaphor on NXT was cordially split up. It was time for everyone to go would do their own thing.
00:03:48
Speaker
And then they released Jakara. And Oro, which was yeah also a part of Metaphor. But, I mean, I'm just glad they didn't split them up in like a backstabbing way like they yeah always do with people. It was like, oh, let's all go be great elsewhere our own.
00:04:06
Speaker
And, yeah. Shayna Baszler as well, which is crazy. Because why would you release Shayna? Who was part of a tag team that could have been somewhere.
00:04:22
Speaker
You could have just released the other person instead of Shayna. That's factual, too. And it's like, you guys wasted, like, watching NXT Shayna and then WWE Shayna, two completely different things. like you guys wasted so much potential for her.
00:04:39
Speaker
And Shotzi as well. And Gigi Delvin, which they were part of the So, faction in NXT. So, I'm a little worried about old gal.
Reinvention After Release: Wrestler's Journey
00:04:54
Speaker
Jane is the only one, I think, that had not been released yet. I feel like maybe it's coming, maybe it's not.
00:05:04
Speaker
I don't know. but I was like, why are you releasing all these people? There are others, too, but those were just the big ones. Why are you releasing other people? There are so many people That you could have released.
00:05:15
Speaker
Not naming any names. but And there was something. We were like oh who's that? yeah Which is so bad. What is that? Clearly that needed to be released. Because nobody knew who it was. Hopefully there's no many.
00:05:31
Speaker
no mont no many. Hopefully there's no more releases. I saw that. Chelsea Green's wife. Matt. Literally said that you have to do three.
00:05:54
Speaker
Oh, my God. Chelsea Green's wife. Mad. I met the husband, bro. You know... Help. Chelsea Green's husband. Or, you know, AKA Zack Ryder.
00:06:06
Speaker
He said that you can either... Take it as a loss or ride the coattails of your WV name or you can reinvent yourself, go make money, and be top dog.
00:06:18
Speaker
So, what are you going Third one.
00:06:22
Speaker
You have to take the third one. Yeah. About 100, Alex.
00:06:32
Speaker
But ah it also makes me wonder... who are you bringing in? Because, you know, sometimes when I do those releases, they're bringing in a big name. So, like, who may be coming either to main roster coming to NXT that's making them doing all these drops?
00:06:49
Speaker
I can't even think of someone that would be coming. Me neither. So difficult. Because, like, I mean. No, because, like, my thing is, if it's, like, budget cuts, why, offense to Carmella, why were you paying her to be at home that whole time then?
00:07:05
Speaker
yeah And then, never mind, we're not to get into her complaining about You see what i'm saying? like If you know you're not going to use somebody, why are you paying them to be at home?
00:07:18
Speaker
If you've used that money to keep somebody, like Shotzi, or Porta Jade, or Dakota Kai, or Shayna Baszler, or, know what I'm saying? People that could have actually been something. But yeah, it's just really sad to see releases.
00:07:31
Speaker
But what are you going to do? We're not in the company. But if we did, There'd be some that would have been one these your place. We're coming with our promotion, you know what? but coming up with our own promotion you know what there's today's little episode.
Storytelling in Wrestling: 'I'm Sad' Moments
00:07:52
Speaker
You know, as wrestling fans we have been through the
00:08:06
Speaker
oh a bunch of We have ultimately seen it all. And in the long run, wrestling is a story. It is about storytelling in every aspect.
00:08:20
Speaker
And for those of you who don't know the term I'm sad, it represents the feeling of being shook, gagged, stunned, whether good or bad. so today's episode, we are going to talk about moments in wrestling history that personally caught our attention.
00:08:38
Speaker
Had us clutching our pearls. The way you said that. And had us in a state of disbelief. Some of these moments we still have not emotionally recovered from.
00:08:49
Speaker
And someone owes us compensation in the form of money. Thank you.
00:08:56
Speaker
So let's get into the Queen's top six favorite I'm sad moments. So I'll go ahead and start. My first I'm sad moment was whenever my man, Roman Reigns, relinquished his universal title.
00:09:13
Speaker
So that was in about 2018. He relinquished his... he relinquished his Universal Championship due to the battle of him battling with leukemia, which if y'all don't know, it's a type of cancer.
Roman Reigns' Title Relinquishment Due to Leukemia
00:09:26
Speaker
So he had been battling with that for like 11 years and he revealed to us that it had returned and he needed to focus on his health. So us as fans responded in different ways. We were definitely supportive of that, but also sad because he was doing his thing.
00:09:47
Speaker
And this was very emotional, definitely for me. But I could only imagine what it was like for him. we were able to see Joe, not Roman Reigns, not the big dog.
00:09:59
Speaker
like This is him being vulnerable in front of these thousands of people. here So it was nice to see that. But I wouldn't say, like we said it was good or bad. I'm i sad moments. I wouldn't say like it's good because of what he was battling. But like being able to see him outside of the WWE persona was nice.
00:10:22
Speaker
And I was balling. I was definitely shooketh. Yeah, like we said, I'm and sad moments aren't always good. I remember actually i just recently watched it. That video came up on my feed and I recently watched it and he like mentions that he's been battling with leukemia, right? in the crowd so Someone in the crowd yelled, you still suck. And I said, bitch.
00:10:46
Speaker
what yeah i was like i hope y'all beat that person's butt i would have turned around and be like come on that is a first of all some of y'all take wrestling too seriously like to say that to anybody that's crazy you take you take wrestling way too seriously touch grass and touch ass because i don't know what the hell y'all doing Especially like in a vulnerable moment. like He's not coming out here as Roman. like Be freaking for real.
00:11:17
Speaker
He literally said it himself. And then the audacity you have is still say that. I hope your pillow never cold. I hope you step on Legos every time you try to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
00:11:30
Speaker
I hope you try to sleep but all you can hear is the sound of mac and cheese stirring you crusty bitch. You heard
00:11:47
Speaker
So one of my favorite moments, I wouldn't say favorite moments, but you know
Notorious Wrestling Incidents
00:11:53
Speaker
what I mean. Yeah. got I was sent, basically, is the mass transit incident, which happened in 1996. So we're taking it back.
00:12:03
Speaker
Some of y'all were not born. I was not.
00:12:08
Speaker
But I was not. I four years old. You know, no cares in the world. And now I got bills. So here we are. um yeah so it happened in 1996 at an ECW house show.
00:12:22
Speaker
Things were, you know, as expected, extreme. It's ECW. what What are you here for you ain't here for the extreme? So an aspiring wrestler, Eric Kruas, who had like a bus driver gimmick, somehow convinced Paul Heyman to allow him to replace someone who couldn't make it tag team match claiming that he was trained by killer kowalski he would be paired with devon to face the gangsters which consists of new jack and mustafa saeed eric during the match would receive quite the beating quite the beating
00:13:06
Speaker
They used crutches, garbage can, chairs, and toasters on this man. why wait Why were there toasters toast? That's a very random thing to have.
00:13:18
Speaker
And at the end of the match, New Jack would cut Eric open with what appeared to be an exacto knife, causing him to bleed profusely everywhere. Though it was a house show, they did have someone recording it.
00:13:31
Speaker
So this was caught on camera. Mm-hmm. Because of the match, it would lead to an arrest, but it would also leave the status of ECW up in the air Turns out that Eric is a liar.
00:13:43
Speaker
He is snake. A liar. is a fraud. And he is about 17 years old and not an adult, not 18, not 19, as he claimed to be Crazy.
00:13:54
Speaker
And he had no professional training, which is crazy because even his dad who was there vouched that he had training. So why would you say that about your child who is but a child doing child things?
00:14:08
Speaker
Like, you know, your son. Well, I don't know if he knew that he lied to him about his age, but you know, your son is 17. You should be like, um, yeah, check this.
00:14:18
Speaker
So three years after the match, New Jack was tried on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. and later sued by Eric's family. However, the jury acquitted him on all charges after hearing that Eric had asked New Jack to make him bleed, and he was declared not liable in the civil trial.
00:14:37
Speaker
Those who testified in the trial said Eric was extremely arrogant and very demanding backstage before the match. New Jack claimed that Eric had flinched during the cutting portion of the match, even though he knew it was coming because they talked about it prior.
00:14:54
Speaker
Before going out there, his flinching caused to the cut to go deeper, severing two arteries in his forehead. i don't know what you thought was going to happen as as i say this again a child going to, not WWE, not TNA, you're going to ECW. What do you think the matches are going to be like?
00:15:15
Speaker
You have no training. You're just a large kid. so I don't know what you thought was going to happen all. And then the family going back to sue him. When you brought him here and said that he could do all this stuff, that's on you. Exactly.
00:15:35
Speaker
That's crazy. Man almost went to jail because you guys are dumb. Not stamped by that. Which... I don't care that he was just a kid. but Oh, kids do stupid things all the time. Yeah, like, run away from home.
00:15:47
Speaker
Yeah. drugs. Something. Not go to ECW.com. claiming that you can fight knowing damn well what ECW is. That's crazy. And they wanted to believe, like, oh, mister, where are your mental health?
00:16:05
Speaker
Anyway, that's crazy. And I wanted to know, like, what your thought process was.
00:16:12
Speaker
He didn't have one. That's what I'm saying. Well, we can't ask him because he did pass away at the age of 22. Unfortunately, i think because of he had like surgery. We lost surgery and he had complications because of that.
00:16:27
Speaker
So we'll never know. In any of that. So saliva deep cut on the forehead because of our arnaids. Trying to put a black man in jail because you don't have all the sex. Definitely in that time. what He definitely would have would went to jail and it would have been like a whole ordeal.
00:16:42
Speaker
just because you don't have common sense and clearly your parents don't either okay so my second which if you have been wrestling fans for a long long time you know exactly I'm talking about Undertaker throwing mankind off hell in a cell yeet a yeet okay I mean like she sawed it it was a yeet it was a yeet it's all I'm saying No, for real.
00:17:14
Speaker
So this is actually the third Hell in a Cell match of June on, I said of, on June 1998. So at King of the Ring, Undertaker faced Mankind in a Hell in a Cell match that would definitely become one of the most memorable moments in WWE history. And Hell in a Cell is 16 feet tall.
00:17:39
Speaker
Like, If you haven't seen it, Google Hell in a Cell. You're going to see how tall it is. And they started on the top the cage. Because Mick Foley came out through his chair. They just started climbing up to the top.
00:17:52
Speaker
Okay, sir. This is what you want to do. but So, Ben is into the match. Undertaker threw Mankind off the top of the cell onto the Spanish announce table. That was the first fall.
00:18:03
Speaker
That wasn't the one that like really wooed us. Yeah, we was like, oh... This crazy. But the impact was definitely, of course, hard as heck. He was falling from a 16-foot hell in a cell.
00:18:16
Speaker
So Jim Ross yelled, good God almighty, that killed him. So we thought he was going to be done after that. But Mick, being the person he is wanted to continue the match.
00:18:29
Speaker
So they continued, and he came back, not learning the lesson from the first time, came back up. to the hell in the cell. Where moments later Undertaker chokeslammed him through the roof of the cell causing him to crash into the ring below.
00:18:47
Speaker
So that second fall is ultimately the fall that everybody remembers. He had multiple injuries, a dislocated shoulder and a tooth that driven through his lip and into his nuts.
00:19:01
Speaker
So despite being barely conscious at that time, mankind continued to wrestle for several more minutes. So they actually, I think this moment definitely set the bar high for future Hell and Missile matches because that being only the third one and being this intense.
00:19:18
Speaker
Yeah. Not Mrs. Foley's baby boy. Like your tooth? Oh my God. Not just one fall. But i the first one, I'm like, no, no, no, no.
00:19:30
Speaker
I'm done tapping out. That was it. That was it. That's crazy. And he wasn't young. like That's true. He was not young at the time. So you took that first one and then went and took this second one from the same height. He kept doing crazy stuff afterwards.
00:19:47
Speaker
Please. Man. Dumb text and everything. like My next I'm Sot is going to be Rikishi's Confessions.
Dramatic Storylines in WWE
00:19:59
Speaker
So one of the most iconic and controversial moments in WWE history was when Rikishi said, i did it for the wrong. So how did we get here? Let's go back to Survivor Series 1999, when Stone Cold Steve Austin was run over and sidelined for almost a year.
00:20:16
Speaker
For months, no one knew who had done such a horrible thing. With investigations not turning anything up, questions remained in the air. and Until Stone Cold... Why did I...
00:20:28
Speaker
Why I snake that? Stone Cold. Until Stone Cold returned and it was revealed that Rikishi was the culprit. But for what? I mean, is really a surprise though? He don't be wiping his butt and then going to stink face and people.
00:20:44
Speaker
So, like, that's the worst. Well, at the time we didn't know that, so We but... ah Well... In a promo now famous, Rikishi confessed that he did it for The Rock and for the people.
00:21:00
Speaker
He targeted Stone Cold to clear a path for The Rock, who is his cousin, to be the top guy in WWE. Rikishi claimed that the company always held some other wrestlers back and that he needed to do something.
00:21:13
Speaker
The Rock, he has no idea. you Why are you doing this? Why? I didn't ask for a single thing from you. Not a single thing. So what you doing? However...
00:21:24
Speaker
It was eventually revealed that it was actually Triple H who manipulated Rikishi into doing the deed. Though the storyline was kind of made to try and elevate Rikishi into this heel, it never really latched on because fans didn't but buy that the lovable, dancing Rikishi is this big eel. Big eel?
00:21:45
Speaker
He's not a big eel. I mean, I don't know. He's a big eel. No, for real. I cannot see Rikishi.
00:21:55
Speaker
you could have picked somebody else that you love that not exactly so my last one is the katie vick storyline so at the time in 2002 triple h and kane had a feud so know what triple h he was healing for real okay you just evil but kane's quote-unquote history was targeted in this storyline
00:22:27
Speaker
So he had once been involved in a car accident that killed a woman named Katie Vick. I don't, this didn't really happen, y'all. and So just those storyline purposes.
00:22:38
Speaker
This definitely happened. But Triple H was a heel at the time. And as Carrie just kind of gave that proof, he was horrible. Yeah.
00:22:50
Speaker
So he accused Cain of not only being responsible for Katie's death, but also having inappropriate relationships with her dead body. The segment that had us all behooved aired.
00:23:10
Speaker
It aired on Raw. So Triple showed a tape, which was him. it was him dressed as Cain. And Katie Vick, it was a mannequin laying in the casket. He's walking up there and talking all like sexual to the corpse. First of all, Cain ain't built like Triple H, so we're not buying that.
00:23:35
Speaker
And then your voice, you could at least try to disguise the voice. in But we knew it was Triple So he was groping. Katie's boot well the mannequins boobs and this man took off his shirt got in the casket and like presumed to have sexual intercourse with the body as if of course it's Kane so he was spilling whole speech about Kane wanting Katie right now and that she looks prettier dead first of all are you crazy so of course I was giving stank face to the screen because Triple H what
00:24:12
Speaker
This man runs WWE now so everybody knows he's... He does. He's doing the storylines and stuff for WWE. So the video finished and Triple H was just... Had like this cynical laugh.
00:24:33
Speaker
y'all don't get it.
00:24:37
Speaker
But yeah. So a lot of these... and Not know a lot of these.
00:24:43
Speaker
See, Carrie threw me for a loop, okay, with that single laugh. She was boo-hooved. Boo-hooved. So a lot of things haunt us about the attitude era, but like this probably remains in folks.
00:25:03
Speaker
I looked at Carrie and you shouldn't see her face.
00:25:08
Speaker
So this remains in folks' memories. and know it remains in mom. why did you just forget about right well why did triple h do that no but see i mean worked with these people but it was just like you sir that's disturbing i was disgusted but triple h is a good deal so i guess he did that could have done something else i don't No, for real. i And then the video, like how it takes it off of them. It just shows the candles in the funeral home. I'm like, sir. Why are there candles in the funeral home?
00:25:51
Speaker
There's a lot of questions. That's crazy. and my final moment is going to be AJ Lee's I Bomb, of course.
AJ Lee's Promo on Total Divas
00:26:01
Speaker
So what some would call it a pivotal moment in women's wrestling for the WWE is AJ Lee's pipe bombshell promo was both scripted and filled with real life, and it would change the game forever.
00:26:14
Speaker
On a random episode of Monday Night Raw in 2013, AJ, who was at the time the Divas Champion, would address the women of the reality show Total Divas.
00:26:26
Speaker
In a promo that had me dropping my jaw, she called the other divas cheap, interchangeable, expendable, and useless for prioritizing fame and glamour instead of wrestling prowess.
00:26:40
Speaker
And I was like, don't think you can be saying these things. Show came, but she did, and okay? um almost said, you said drop my jaw. i
00:26:56
Speaker
Yeah, it had me dropping my draws. Oh my god. She let the women know that they couldn't come close the kind of woman she was, and they would never lace up her Chuck Taylors.
00:27:08
Speaker
Many thought the promo was raw, while others criticized it for pinning women against each other in a derogatory way, undermining the progress of women's wrestling. Regardless, the promo is credited with sparking conversations about the portrayal of women in the wwes WWE.
00:27:24
Speaker
It was a pivotal moment. So you're complaining. It definitely was a pivotal moment, but I'm like, men say stuff to each other all the time. Exactly. So why can't women say stuff to each other without you making it?
00:27:38
Speaker
Like, whatever. need y'all to talk about all this, all the disrespectful women. Do i need to pull up Drew McIntyre's Twitter? Like, please. okay Yeah, let's let's bring it up. Relax.
00:27:51
Speaker
So, of course, we have our honorable mentions as we do every episode. So, first one, Bayley turning off Sasha Banks. Sat I was. Okay.
00:28:03
Speaker
Sat I was. Cody Rhodes a beating Roman at WrestleMania. Sat with my jaw. Dropped. Sat with the jaw. Dropped. Stop.
00:28:13
Speaker
Dropped. Okay, I'm done. drugs okay i Nah, someone's going to make an edit of us and it's just going to be that.
00:28:26
Speaker
Bork Tether beating Kofi and taking the title. Sat and swinging. We windmilling over. John Cena turning heel. What the hell, Jonathan?
00:28:37
Speaker
Jonathan Felix Anthony Cena. What the hell? Not the whole thing.
00:28:45
Speaker
Big Boss Man crashing a funeral. room What was going on at this time? everybody sean michaels and brett hart they're reconcile never thought we'd that that's crazy seth rollins betraying the show like you know we had to add this on here seth rica what you doing
00:29:10
Speaker
seth rica seth rica rollins what you doing
00:29:20
Speaker
I can't breathe. Oh, God. is what we do all day, every day. Makeup. Like, whatever comes to mind just comes out and we say it.
00:29:33
Speaker
Oh, my gosh. The tears are coming. Mark Henry's retirement segment. We spoke about this on a previous episode in his salmon soup. salmon so oh
00:29:50
Speaker
Paul Bearer portraying the Undertaker for mankind. Paul. All the Pauls is crying. i on the All the But not Paul Wall.
00:30:03
Speaker
Paul Heyman revealed as a Roman Reigns' manager himself. Sit in. Sit in. So, we're gonna do a little game, I think, to end the episode.
00:30:18
Speaker
I feel like we should um start to like think of more to do yeah that would be fun to like end the episode with a little gizzing um so today's game is called sat or flat so each of us will pick five moments to surprise the other with um and the other person must say if the moment was a sat moment or a flat moment and then we can get a sequel to a group what have you not Or basically we'll just say whatever comes to mind because that's what we do anyway. So i'll be prepared. You never know.
00:30:51
Speaker
Paige debuts and wins the Diva Championship. Oh, I was sat and pissed before.
00:31:00
Speaker
Sat and pissed. Because for what? That was crazy. if It really was. like It threw me for a loop. It's like, um okay. Okay.
00:31:13
Speaker
I don't think, look, have we seen another one like that? I don't think we've ever seen another one like that. Well, didn't a j then come back and do the same thing? think she's like injured or something. She left a little bit. And then she showed back up. Oh, yeah. And did the same thing. And actually, we have seen something.
00:31:26
Speaker
It's not a debut. But it was, and believe, Jillian Hall had just won the Divas title. And then, all of a sudden, we hear Melina's entrance because she's returning from injury. And she pinned her and got the belt.
00:31:39
Speaker
So she was like I think. um seen a lot of stuff but i believe that's correct but Yeah, but that was crazy. We were sad. But yes, sad.
00:31:52
Speaker
Let's see. Let's do McMahon's illegitimate son being hornswoggle. Flat. Yeah, I was very confused as to why I was hornswoggle out of all the people.
00:32:08
Speaker
Then again, we did mention in previous episode that I was supposed to be Mr. Kennedy, but he was chicken McFucking up. his career for a whole year or so. Yeah, I would say that was just like a confusing... It was just like a last minute grasping at straws and now I'm confused as to why Horn's Toggle is your legitimate son. So I'm flat.
00:32:30
Speaker
So I'm flat. You said flat? Yeah. Cain said...
00:32:44
Speaker
Kane sets Jim Ross on fire. a I'm gonna say flat. Okay. Because, is okay Anybody can be set on fire, don't know. Yeah.
00:32:56
