Speaker: Welcome to Queen's Ring Podcast where we celebrate the past, the present, and the future of professional wrestling. We're your hosts Charity and Keri, your go-to duo for life in the Squared Circle.
Speaker: And on today's episode we're diving into a popular wrestling promotion here in Washington State, SOS. Yeah and speaking of SOS, we got to go to a show yesterday.
Speaker: was like
Speaker: And hang out with the crew afterwards, as we usually do once a month. During the summer, sometimes twice. Yes, during the summer, sometimes twice when they come to Seattle. I thought it was just fitting that we talk about SOS and we also win.
Speaker: Yeah. So we're going as we do in every episode, are going to the discuss some headlines. um First being Michelle McHugh's interview with Chris Van Vliet.
Speaker: So basically the they were talking about how she would get crap for dating The Undertaker which like she said people date in the wrestling biz but it's because he was The Undertaker.
Speaker: Well I feel like that's the case when you date one of the larger stars. I'm sure Nikki Bella got it you know other people so Like when you date someone in the business who has a legacy or has like some sort of influence or power and now you're dating them, people will probably think like, oh, you're getting this because you're dating them.
Speaker: People just like to talk and that's what it is. But that also helped her in retiring besides other stuff. Like she was saying, she did want to become a mother. So she's not going to negate that fact.
Speaker: But yeah, I mean, talk is talk. And Stephanie Bacare is now the NXT Women's Champion and NXT North American Champion.
Speaker: I really wish they would stop giving people a double championships. Yeah. Like, if you were going to take it, the championship, like, give it to someone who doesn't have a belt already. Like, you could have easily put a few together for that.
Speaker: I've been hearing or seeing some things... that some theories people have about them unifying it, but I'm like, they literally just created it.
Speaker: Like, it just came out. Yeah. so I don't think that is going to be a thing. Because you know they unify championships and stuff, but I don't know if they're going to do that too soon now. But yeah, there's a whole bunch of women on the NXT roster that i feel could have that NXT North American championship.
Speaker: But congratulations! Yeah! But congratulations. Also, we found out that Naomi is the one who attacked Jay. don't believe it, but...
Speaker: like is Even if and what they put that Naomi attacked Jay, even so, the way that Bianca was acting is strange. like She was being like aggressive and like dismissive of Naomi's other friendships with other people.
Speaker: Like, you clearly didn't try hard enough to contact Jade. Like, you weren't liking any of her stuff when she's posting. Like, you were you were being shady um about it. So, I'm like, okay, yeah, maybe Naomi did it, but what's the truth here? some or Something is, feel like there's a twist coming.
Speaker: No, because if if Naomi did it, wouldn't you just tell Bianca that right away? Okay, it was Naomi. Why not talking to her as well? She don't know? Yeah. She don't know who did it?
Speaker: I guess for the plot. The plot has holes. The hell? Not the plot has holes.
Speaker: Good for Naomi. Yeah. I love a heel Naomi. Oh, yes, we do. Well deserved. What'd y'all you supposed to Crash out, sis.
Speaker: Okay, so the queens will be digging into the heart of the independent wrestling with a spotlight on SOS Pro Wrestling, which is an energetic promotion based out of Tacoma, Washington.
Speaker: And it is known for the raw energy, very, very passionate fans. So SOS has been making waves. As we said before, we have built a relationship.
Speaker: with them since April of 2024 actually. So they have that unique blend of high-flying action and hard-hitting matches. So let's get ready to explore the stories behind the ring, the talent that defines this promotion, and why SOS Pro Wrestling is quickly becoming a must-watch for fans of all ages.
Speaker: So what is SOS and what makes them unique? So SOS is known for its commitment to delivering high-quality, action-packed events with a focus on compelling storylines and unique characters.
Speaker: And trust me, they have some characters. and What sets this one apart from other promotions is its emphasis on blending traditional wrestling styles with innovative, cutting-edge match types and narratives.
Speaker: The promotion often highlights both emerging talents and seasoned veterans, giving fans a dynamic mix of in-ring styles. SOS is dedicated to creating an inclusive, community-driven environment where fans can engage with wrestlers on a personal level, making every show feel intimate and special.
Speaker: Whether it's through electrifying matches, captivating promos, or interactive fan experiences, SOS Pro Wrestling stands out for its passion creativity, and dedication to pushing the boundaries of professional wrestling.
Speaker: Going into the history and evolution of SOS. So SOS began as a web series in September 2020, as we all know was during that the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaker: So this was to keep, of course, the wrestling community engaged, The series featured unique storylines involving pirates, monkeys, and local celebrities set in the surreal tropical realm. In September 2021, SOS transitioned to live events, initially hosting shows at Seattle's Hills Palladium.
Speaker: After the venue's closure, the promotion relocated to Edison Square, Tacoma. The promotion has also established the Grit City Wrestling School, offering training in wrestling fundamentals, character development, athletics.
Speaker: Promo skills. So go so like lia or like I mentioned, we've been going to SOS since April of 2024. Yeah. Dang, it's almost been a year. Yeah.
Speaker: Basically after we debuted our podcast. What a time. I know. What a time. So every show, for me, and I'm assuming for Carrie too, has been an absolute blast.
Speaker: Okay. Okay. They are very entertaining. It is very energetic and full of fun for sure. Like the fan base is lovely. Yeah. And like when our first event there, i think we got like standing, standing. So we were by the ring and then we sat in like the general area.
Speaker: Yeah. And then we went to the balcony. and We were in the balcony for quite some time. Like those, you know, all those two Muppets, right? that the toolsman up so That's where we were.
Speaker: But now we've got our little tushies in the VIP seats on the stage. Next to the commentators. Yes. I had to dip out of this episode to secure the front row.
Speaker: Yeah, if you hear some ruckus, it's me running to get my card secure the card. Because they go fast. They super fast. And I don't want to sit behind people because we're trying to get trying to enjoy the experience, but we're also trying to get content. Footage, yeah.
Speaker: And last night, you know, we sat in the back of the VIP room. And of course the lady in front of us had 75 signs. 75 signs.
Speaker: We're kidding. just say yeah I wasn't. A whole bunch of signs and we would go to her court and decide, oh, she put sign up and we're like, Okay.
Speaker: Go ahead and just knock us down. Yeah. So I had just had to go secure those right quick. um But yeah, we we love to mix it up in the seating. But I think that, you know, one day we're going to get like the, there's a side seating that has tables.
Speaker: And one day we're going to secure those so we can eat a little snacky snack on the side and capture all the people walking on. Yeah, because we never eat. I mean, yeah, we never eat at the place. Typically. Yeah, typically we don't. One time we did.
Speaker: took, but I don't want to talk about my experience. It took 75 years for my burger. It didn't take a while. Yeah, because a burger.
Speaker: The show was almost over. Yeah, but it's a great atmosphere to be there. the Everyone is really friendly. from people in the crowd and fans to, you know, people at the bar and even the wrestlers themselves. Like, they'll come up to us and talk with us.
Speaker: Hug. Yeah, that like, now when we go, they, like, they'll come up to us. Like, they'll come over and give us a hug scare us or whatever. They know the queens. they know. Or, like, yesterday we were on our way there and Cody, one of the commentary was like, oh, are the queens coming to the island? i was like, we're on the way. And you know we are.
Speaker: so They was like, oh, no, y'all don't need to miss two months like that again. Yeah, we obviously took a break. So we didn't go for, like, December, January yeah for two months and then we popped back.
Speaker: So they were like, um don't do that. Ever again. We miss y'all's presence. Oh, we know. ah Not the tuck of hair behind the ear.
Speaker: You know, from day one, it felt very genuine. The connection that they had with each other and with their fans. And the connection that we made with them was very easy.
Speaker: It just felt like, i don't know what I expected it to be, but it was just very easy. So we're going into our staff, the wonderful staff of SOS. Okay, first we're going with the commentators.
Speaker: Young Fuego, he's also in sir is he's the he's hype man. He gets like, he is the hype man. That's somebody I've clicked with since day one.
Speaker: And like, this dude not even knowing me, he was like, you grew up in a church, right? And I was like, yeah. He was like, a black one at that? And I was like, yes. So, he's high energy, positive vibes. Like, I don't think I've ever seen him mad for real.
Speaker: Well, besides whenever he fought Rick Kelly. Yeah. Yeah, he's very positive. And we stole his Shawn Michaels jacket. Yes. I'm just kidding. It was like the second or third time we seen this man. We were like, hey, give the queens your Shawn Michaels jacket. And he did.
Speaker: Yeah, I was like, so he's going to give us a jacket. And then he made a post and was like, should I give the queen? So that's whenever all our folks came through and went in the comments and was like, yeah, i give it to them. We got this fire jacket. Yes, we got that.
Speaker: Shawn Michaels is in the podcast room. We're going to get their frame. We're about to go on the shadow box.
Speaker: We got so much stuff to set up. We buy so much stuff. We buy so much stuff. because of course you gotta support your indie wrestling that's um but then we got cody von whistler who is one of the commentators he is so funny or should i say punny no but he's very funny um and he's also very high energy very sweet which i feel like they all compliment each other which makes them a great trio and makes the show even better like yeah you're watching your wrestling but the commentators the things they be saying crack me up and it's just it's just it's such a vibe and then we have james vanderbeek this man is really goofy as heck
Speaker: Yesterday, he ran in here with an empty behind Papa John's piece of pie. And then he'll do like this goofy wave. It's hilarious. But like Carrie said, they all just blend. I love that.
Speaker: I love that commentary team. Yes, yes. And then, of course, we have the owner. Pitfall Jones. Who is Pitfall Jones.
Speaker: We played Jeopardy, y'all. Okay.
Speaker: But no, he's, like we said, no. But no, he also... No. He also wrestles. He's actually really he's really good, too.
Speaker: And he's really nice. I think we have been going for a while. Like, we met him shortly. But there was, like, one time he went to hang out with them after and had a full conversation like, him and his wife.
Speaker: And that was nice. I was like, oh, he's trying to recruit us. He was like, there's not that many women.
Speaker: so like wait is that a recruitment statement but no they're really nice people and he definitely does a really good job at making sos yeah what it is and then top the last show i feel like every time it always talks yeah every time we go it's a better show exactly if i know what he's doing he might know what he's doing And then if you don't watch SOS, first of all, you can follow them on Instagram at SOS Pro Wrestling.
Speaker: But i what is it, IWTV? I think so. You can watch their live events through there. um So we're going to go into some wrestlers. These are some of our favorites. I got to chat with them. They kind of just gave us a rundown of,
Speaker: Their wrestling career, just a brief thing. So first, we have Casey Brasselhoff. This man, i love this man, but he is not afraid to put his body on the line.
Speaker: No, for you. That man, like we said, we'd be sitting on the balcony. That one time we sat on the balcony, that man climbed up there. I looked over to my right. She's like, what's going on? That man flew off that thing.
Speaker: Mm-hmm. And he's just always doing high flying stuff. So he started in 2017 Buddy Wayne Academy. He debuted in May 2017. He debuted as Raselhoff in November of 2022. He was Kevin Cook before.
Speaker: So like I said, Raselhoff is a high flyer and a technical wrestler. So KC Raselhoff's title reigns. He is a five-time tag team champion with Who we found out yesterday as his brother, Ghost Pirate Brian.
Speaker: The more you know. Exactly. He is a 2023 Island Rumble winner and a former SOS champion. Still our champion, okay? Still our champion.
Speaker: Which he won from Carl Randlers in May of 2024. And his notable promotions that he wrestled at is Defy, SOS, and Prestige. Like we said, we love KC. That's a lot.
Speaker: Yeah, he's a big sweetheart. I won't tell the story about he maimed me. No, no, you gotta tell the story. You know what? Since we talking about him. all happened last year when I was minding my business at a wrestling show.
Speaker: Front row, and he kicked a water bottle off the mat. And it came full force towards my face and cut open underneath my eyes. She literally had a cut underneath my eyes. I said, oh, okay.
Speaker: oh No.
Speaker: He didn't know he felt He didn't know, but he felt so bad. I was like, i'm cool. I'm so sorry. I think that's where our relationship built.
Speaker: Took one for the team, I guess. That's where it built, built for him. So I have to We were like tight with him after that. So let's talk about Matt Brandt.
Speaker: This statement, what she is going to say about this man is basically his character. He literally said all of this. I love him. We love all the people that we name him.
Speaker: Matt is so funny. He's a character. He's a great wrestler. He's very entertaining. Mm-hmm. That's literally everything that you need to be a good wrestler. Yeah.
Speaker: Being able to entertain the fans, have good promos, be a good wrestler. He's good. He does it all. He does it all. So, Ma started training in 2012. That was a little bit ago.
Speaker: ain't gonna say how old I was. She was three. Anyway. First of all... i know you but i'm not there I'm not a two thousand s baby.
Speaker: She was but three. um He was trained by Cody Hawk, who also trained Jon Moxley, l LA Knight, and Sammy Callahan. In good company, in good company.
Speaker: Period. He started wrestling on shows after one training. What? Yeah. What? Hold on.
Speaker: How dare they? How dare they throw our man out like that? Yeah. He said he was deemed good enough to get beat up. So his first year was just him getting beat up.
Speaker: And mind you, I'm just, this is what this is what Matt said. I'm just reading what he said. Yeah. um he said that place was toxic and horrible so after two years he left and worked the shittiest ohio indies imaginable for a few years then in 2017 he quit for two years because he was he was unhappy as you should don't do things that make you unhappy exactly and he came back in 2019 because wrestling should be fun
Speaker: should be nut's cracking me up he is hilarious um he worked old wrestling new wave pro and school of morton he moved to socal in 2021 to be with his girlfriend worked cw at hollywood versus in prize style in 2022 ish he moved indiapolis started working for black label pro and went back to new wave pro regularly This is when he said that his promos really started taking shape. The end of 2023, he moved to Washington State, and things picked up a lot, working for Prestige, DOA, SOS, Peak, Defy, and OW, among others.
Speaker: He said that he has had many title runs, which is fine. He is very talented, so give him titles. No, for real, I'm like, what you mean? Since 2012? Give this man more titles than what he has. What he deserves.
Speaker: a Exactly.
Speaker: His dog is also cute. Oh, yes. Yes. His dog is cute. It's so tiny. And he just be walking with him. And this man be in his little Speedos or whatever before show. Walking the dog. I'm like cracking up.
Speaker: Funny thing. But no. want say we do love that. We do. So, I'm going into a beddy. Yeah. This girl is a baddie. Her name is Anna Barretta.
Speaker: So she started training Lucia at Lucia Volcanica in 2018. two thousand eighteen And then she started training at the Buddy Wayne Academy as well shortly after that.
Speaker: So she had two major injuries that required surgery and each took her out About a year. So, you know that's a big cut from your career and everything. Also, COVID.
Speaker: The horrible COVID that we had. And then she had a baby. Which her baby is precious. But... So, for her, she said it's been a rough road. But she is currently, as won last night, the SOS Tag Team Champions with Steve Miggs. As they should be. Period.
Speaker: If you don't know, why everybody be booing them? see Steve and Anna? Fuck Steve Miggs. I said... I'll fight you every single morning. You say, you know what? Let's hustle. If you hear people cheering for Steve Miggs, it's us.
Speaker: It's us every time. Okay. and I remember yesterday we were cheering for them and somebody was like, I'm Steve Miggs. Like right after we started cheering and I started yelling again.
Speaker: That was hilarious. But no, we love them. So her wrestling style is lucha and American hard hitting, aggressive, powerhouse type. She has worked a lot in Canada.
Speaker: So her notable promotions are WrestleCore, ASW, New, Boom, Thrash, and today is Saturday. And it is the Defy event. She's debuting in Defy tonight.
Speaker: clock it
Speaker: So, you know, keeping in theme with women, our next first song is Rebel Kim. she You've seen us, Roger. Roger.
Speaker: I can't talk today. You've seen us rocking her merch. Yeah. Okay. mar yeah okay okay so standing at six feet tall she began her wrestling career in 2016 after training at buddy wayne's wrestling academy her debut match took place on december 3rd 2016 throughout her career rebel cal has competed in various promotions including stardom in japan defy wrestling and bar wrestling one of her notable matches occurred

She was also a member of the Tokyo Cyber Squad stable in Stardom, alongside wrestlers like Hanna Kimura, Jungle Kiona, and Konami. Her wrestling style is characterized by speed and agility, earning her recognition as a dynamic performer in the industry.
Speaker: So she's had multiple title reigns. Yeah. So she is the current Peak Champion. We'll be seeing her tonight because we're going to like do another event. That's all we do in life.
Speaker: And... don't know.
Speaker: A three. A WAC Tag Team Champion with she is a doa grand champion ah three times ah three three ah w a c tu tea champions with The Sweethearts and Danny B. SOS Pro Wrestling Champion as well. And some of the notable promotions that she's been in. Obviously, DOA, SOS, ICW, Stardom, Defy, UWN, CWFM, AEW, ROH, WrestleCore, Peak Sports Entertainment, WAC, POW, and Prestige.
Speaker: No, she going everywhere. She going everywhere. That girl be on catching flights. Not scenes. Period.
Speaker: So, I mean, we talked about Anna. So it's only right we talk about her tag team partner, Steve Miggs. Okay.
Speaker: So we got a new announcer.
Speaker: Steve Miggs, like Carrie said. So he was trained Buddy Wayne Academy as well. And still training there every week with the best in the PNW, as quoted.
Speaker: Okay? His style, he said, is opportunistic. He doesn't believe it in putting on five-star matches or quote-unquote bangers. Miggs believes in winning and doing whatever it takes to win, which we see firsthand.
Speaker: We see that firsthand all day. Steve Miggs has wrestled all over the Pacific Northwest, as well as Dallas, Texas. And has held multiple titles being the SOS Championship, DOA Pure Champion, Oblivion Pro Wrestling Champion, which he is currently that champion, Verified Champion, and Wrestling With Regret YouTube Champion.
Speaker: So his notable promotions are AEW, Defy, DOA, SOS, Oblivion, WrestleCore, ASW, and boom!
Speaker: ah That's a promotion. She wasn't just saying that. Yeah. Oh, yeah. That is a promotion. and this he I had to put the emphasis emphasis on that. a And he's also, as we said, a team champion.
Speaker: Indeed. With Biggie. Biggie. Biggie. I'm Stevie. I love you singing random shit. Yeah.
Speaker: and' be seeing a random shit yeah
Speaker: And of course, we got to do the honorable mentions for the SOS Pro Wrestling family. This is not all the people on the roster. But to mention some more, we have Derrick Jaws, Dante Smythe, and the Island staff. We have Sui Young, Austin Oso, The Butler, Ghost Pirate Brian, Nick Romantic, Rashad Tyson, which is very, very entertaining. We love watching Rashad.
Speaker: So why is indie wrestling important? Well, uh, no, I'm just kidding.
Speaker: wrestling is crucial because it's the breeding ground for fresh talent, innovative storytelling, and the raw energy that bigger promotions often can't match. It gives wrestlers the freedom to explore their creative sides and Connect with fans on a more personal level and push the boundaries of what's possible in the ring.
Speaker: For fans, indie wrestling offers an authentic grassroots experience that keeps the spirit of wrestling alive, making it the heart and soul of the industry. mean, you gotta start somewhere.
Speaker: Yeah. And even if you're even if you're just starting somewhere, why not make it a big somewhere? The best somewhere. You hear?
