When we think about wellness, it's too easy to think of physical health, the push-ups, the runs, the nutrition, while those are undoubtedly Important, our mental health is equally crucial.

The stress of our jobs can lead to feelings of isolation, anxiety, and even depression.

Open Conversations and Emotional Support

00:02:19
Toni Gonzalez
And let's face it, the nature of the work can sometimes make it hard to talk about how we are actually feeling.
00:02:31
Toni Gonzalez
This is where reaching out comes into play. Maintaining and nurturing those friendships, can be a powerful tool for emotional support. Just as you check your gear before heading out on a call, you need to check in on your mental gear, your mind, and your heart.
00:02:49
Toni Gonzalez
So how do we do this? It starts with simple conversations. It can be as easy as sending a text or making a phone call. You might say something like, hey,
00:03:01
Toni Gonzalez
How have you been holding up? Or what's been on your mind lately? This opens the door for a dialogue that can lead to shared experiences and support.

00:03:14
Toni Gonzalez
in me It means a lot. It shows that you're human and may it may encourage your colleague to share their own struggles.
00:03:29
Toni Gonzalez
Research shows that social support can significantly buffer the impact of stress and trauma on our mental health. When we talk openly about our feelings and experiences, we build camaraderie and resilience.
00:03:41
Toni Gonzalez
Each of us is an important part of a larger community, and that community thrives when we support one another.

Empathetic Listening

00:03:48
Toni Gonzalez
Now, it's essential to remember that checking in isn't ah just about being ready to talk. It's also about being a good listener. When a colleague opens up, try to listen with empathy and without judgment.

Toni Gonzalez
Sometimes just being there, being present, can make all the difference for someone who may feel alone.

Mindfulness in Daily Routines

00:04:08
Toni Gonzalez
So before we wrap this up and I bring it all together, i want to leave you with a self-care tip that can easily fit into your daily routine. Try giving yourself just five minutes each day for mindfulness.
00:04:21
Toni Gonzalez
This could mean found time to sit quietly, perhaps with a nice cup of coffee or tea, focusing on your breathing or your breath at the moment or throughout the day, of course, or going for a short walk while observing your surroundings.
00:04:38
Toni Gonzalez
Mindfulness not only helps ease stress, but also brings you back to the present moment. It's a small act that can significantly shift your mindset and provide clarity amidst the chaos.

Community Strength and Reaching Out

00:04:55
Toni Gonzalez
So remember, check in with your friends and teammates, care for your mental health, and don't hesitate to reach out for support, people. There's no shame in that. We're in this together, stronger than ever as a community. I want to thank you for joining me on this week's episode.
00:05:11
Toni Gonzalez
And I also want to remind you before I remind you of what I normally remind you of, right?

00:05:38
Toni Gonzalez
There's some things I want you to remember. Do something daily for yourself. Place yourself on top of the list. And more importantly, I want to remind you to stay safe out there and I'll talk to you soon.
